You'll love Watt Cottage, it's full of charm and character. The cottage is 16th century grade ll listed, retaining many of its original features including an original wood burning stove. It makes the most delicious pizzas and we provide all the dough ingredients for you to give it a go..
Wattisham is set in the heart of rural Suffolk, and our cottage is the perfect getaway for families, couples and friends. Relax in the secluded garden, take a stroll across the open fields and visit charming medieval villages close by. Despite a feeling of being in the middle of no where, Watt cottage is easy to get to and is well placed for exploring beautiful suffolk.
Wattisham is a farming village surrounded by fields and open country side. Sometimes we have more horses passing than cars. Just of your door step you will find beautiful country walks into Bildeston where there is a village shop, pubs and restaurants. Annually on the May bank holiday there is a beer festival at the Kings head with live music. Annually there is B-Natural music festival (beginning of September) when they close off the market square and set up a stage with live music, food and drink stalls. Free event At the same event you can walk around some beautiful open gardens in the village, to do this a wrist band and small cost is required. In the local surrounding area you will find farm shops/farm cafes, tea rooms, fishing lakes, horse riding and much more. Only 15 minutes drive to historic Lavenham with outstanding Medieval Architecture, art galleries, boutiques and restaurants . Further afield you can visit many of Suffolks beautiful beaches, nature reserves and forests. There are lots of brochures in the cottage with places to visit. There are large supermarkets in both Hadleigh and Stowmarket.
  • The cottage was great and so nicely decorated with some quirky features which we loved. Especially loved the sleeping nook in the eaves and the pizza oven and wood burning stove. Sammy was great too, waiting for our arrival and providing an extra duvet for a last minute additional guest.

  • We had a great stay at Watt Cottage!, it is a beautiful old house with lots of quirky features however has it has been updated with a clean modern rustic design that works brilliantly. Its very quiet and peaceful with a lovely garden. Sammy was on hand if we needed any help and her family were lovely. My Son LOVED the den bed as did (Website hidden by Airbnb) is such a great feature and gave the house a magical twist. we would definitely love to visit again.

  • Watt cottage is cosy bolthole in a lovely quiet spot. Very homely with the log burner, loads of original features and the Pizza oven was great fun for all the family. Our children loved the 'tent bedroom' and we had a fantastic stay. Sammy was a great host and replied quickly to all our emails, and gave us great information on things to do in the area with our young children.Thank you for a relaxing stay.

    Sarah2017-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is described as having 2 bedrooms but in fact, it only has one bedroom with a stuffy eaves bed opposite the master bedroom. Good for a couple with 1 or 2 kids but not for 2 couples. The cottage is set few yards from a busy road. We lost our beloved cat on the second night when he got run over. He goes out at night in London and knows the danger of cars, but because it's pitch black outside the cottage, he couldn't tell the difference between the fields and the road. We are extremely saddened by the loss. The washing machine was broken and a new one could not be delivered during our stay. The shower was very disappointing. The running water is very weak, not ideal if you have long hair. The shower drains were blocked. When I mentioned it, the husband had a go to unblock it but he wasn't successful. There were lots of dust between the eaves bed and the walls and dirty sock from previous guests. We left the cottage earlier than planned because we weren't comfortable.

  • We had a wonderful few days at Watt cottage. It was a lovely quirky and cosy property but was also very well equipped! We had a fantastic time making pizza (or attempting to!) and went on some lovely walks. Would definitely recommend for quiet weekends away. Samantha was great and answered all my questions very quickly it was fantastic! Would definitely stay again!

My home is a medieval guildhall, recently refurbished, it is comfortable and furnished to a high standard with all modern facilities . The garden is a beautiful place to enjoy. Located just a walk away from the local pub/resturant The Swan. And a short drive to towns and villages such as the historic Lavenham and the market towns of Sudbury and Hadleigh. The rate listed of £45 is per person per night.
  • Vicki was very hospitable. She made us a cup of tea when we arrived and introduced us to her 2 adorable dogs Hattie and Muffin. Her house is beautiful and full of character, nothing was a problem! Her garden is very impressive and lovely to walk through after a hearty breakfast. Thank you vicki for a lovely stay, we will definitely be coming back to stay! Hayley and Josh xx

  • Staying here made me wonder: how did we ever do without Airb&b? The house was wonderful, tasteful, beamed and brimming with 16th Century charm. It was immaculate - the bedroom was supremely comfortable, cosy and historic; the bathroom gorgeous, with mountains of towels and abundant toiletries. I was introduced to the delightful, Vicky and instantly felt we were friends. She had a brilliant way of befriending you and making you feel relaxed and able to make your own decisions. Some B&B owners get so bossy, prescriptive and forget to take their humility pill. Not Vicky. The breakfasts were amazing. Am I over the top? Hope not. I came away thinking there is true hospitality in this world. Thoroughly recommend it to anyone.

You're welcome to come and stay in our family home slap bang in the middle of rural Suffolk. Big skies, a warm family welcome, and take us as we come. We have 3 rooms, one en-suite the other two with shared bathroom. Homely kitchen and hearty food
We are happy to share our home with like-minded, adventurous people who want something different. The house is large, and unusual, in 1.5 acres of grounds in the heart of rural Suffolk on the River Brett in the village of Monks Eleigh. Notwithstanding that the airbnb system only allows us to show one bedroom there are in fact three available and we can comfortably accommodate six people (for example, three lots of two). The other bedrooms are listed in separate airbnb listings. The price listed is for bed and breakfast in the double bedroom with shared family bathroom. If you would like additional meals these can be provided at an extra charge, as can a picnic if you want to go out for the day. We have a couple of bicycles for rent because Suffolk is a nice place to cycle.
Being in rural Suffolk, you will be out in the countryside a short walk from the centre of the village of Monks Eleigh. There is a local community shop and post office and a gourmet pub called "The Swan". A little further away is the village of Chelsworth, where there is a typical English rural pub called "The Peacock", which sells traditional British real ale, and it has an excellent food menu. Three miles up the road is the medieval village of Lavenham, which has over 300 listed buildings. It was used to film a few of the final scenes at Godrick's Hollow in the last Harry Potter movie. There are some good walks nearby, easy ones for a stroll and some for which you will need your walking boots, particularly if the weather is inclement. One of the nice things about the location is that there is hardly any light pollution and on a clear night you get a fabulous view of the night sky.
  • My stay with Elizabeth was good and homely. Elizabeth leads a very busy life and it was good of her to fit me in. This corner of Suffolk is the best!

  • I had a wonderful stay at Elizabeth's and Michael's home. I felt like home right away. They were very kind and generous hosts. Everything I needed was provided and much more. I also enjoyed their company and conversations. Elizabeth is a great cook so if you get a chance have lunch or dinner with them :) The house is huge and there lots of space, and so is the beautiful garden. The area is quiet and relaxing. Thank you so much!

Wendy wagon is a unique calm and cosy home on wheels. She sits high at the end of a farm track in Lavenham, Suffolk, with long views over the countryside.
Wendy wagon is a completely unique very large shepherds hut on wheels. We built her with the help of two skilled carpenters, she is fully insulated with sheeps wool, lined with ply and clad in Larch. The wagon was designed to run on solar power although we now also have an electrical hook up. The wagon was our home for 3 years while we managed the build of our new home, however there are no longer cooking facilities within the wagon. Inside there is a King size bed with feather and down quilts and pillows, cotton and linen bedsheets. There is a woodburner and electric heater so it is always warm and cosy. There are electric lights, kettle, hairdryer and fridge . An iron and ironing board can be supplied if needed. There are no cooking facilities in Wendy Wagon and we do not accept dogs. As there is no running water in the wagon, bottled water will be supplied. The toilet, shower and washing up facilities are located in the craft room approximately 50mts away . There is also a composting toilet close by specifically for use by Wendy Wagons' guests. We have wonderful views of the sky and fields beyond and the nearby footpath is part of a circular walk through the trees and fields around Lavenham. Wendy wagon sits behind our workshops and house in her own space. Breakfast is supplied in Wendy for you to help yourself ( Muesli, yoghurt, fruit juice). If the weather is calm it is possible to build a fire outside, snuggle up in blankets , sit on the stargazer benches and just watch the sky and listen to the owls. Kris Marriott Feltmaker will be running wet felting workshops in the craft room , the dates are 14th february, 10th March, 18th April, come and design and make a hat, slippers or bag.
We are situated on arable farmland above Lavenham. There are hedges, lovely walks and quite often buzzards, hare and deer can be seen. Lavenham is famous for its timber framed buildings and fine church.
  • A lovely lurk get away

    Sara2017-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Wendy Wagon is a magical space that has been crafted with great care and love. Sue was a fantastic host in all respects and I would go back tomorrow if I could!

    Ed2018-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay in Wendy, although only one night, was without a doubt one of the most special trips we have taken. The cabin itself is simply beautiful, with its curved wooden ceiling and windows that frame the sun rise. So many lovely touches: sheep skin rugs for cold feet, a hugely comfy bed with down quilts and pillows for tired heads, so many wonderful fabrics, and Sue’s absolutely delicious tea loaf with homemade crab apple jelly, which was perfect after a walk from the cabin. Endless baskets of logs, a wood burner and dried orange peel, not only ensured that we were cosy, but also left the cabin smelling sublime the whole evening. Unfortunately, it was cloudy for us, but, optimistically, we went out to try and catch a glimpse of the meteor shower. Just outside the cabin there is a bench angled in such a way, that you can tilt your head against it and look at the stars (Sue showed us this on arrival). In short, if you are considering a stay in Suffolk, spend a night here: it’s close to Lavenham, and some great walks, but secluded enough to be very peaceful. As a host, Sue has clearly put so much thought and time into making it a memorable experience for anyone that stays with them. It was also a pleasure to meet Sue, and also Soli, the very friendly resident border terrier. We are already thinking about our next excuse to hope to return soon!

    Charley2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • The Wendy Wagon is a great place to stay, it is ideal for anyone looking for a slightly quirky place to stay and has many nice touches. The wagon is well sized, comfortable and cozy, especially when the wood burner is going. The area is very quiet and makes for great star gazing on a clear night. We loved the personal touches including the home made tea loaf provided for breakfast.

  • I had a lovely stay in this amazing little wagon, and enjoyed its truly picturesque setting. The village is beautiful and the hosts are welcoming - wonderful for a rural getaway.

  • This is an amazing, cosy spot. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back. Sue was so nice and helpful and everything was really smooth. The fireplace and stargazing benches were especially nice touches.

This is our pretty little Grade II listed cottage in the heart of Lavenham, Suffolk - England’s finest medieval village. We love it! The central location is within walking distance of the villages numerous restaurants, pubs, boutique shops and galleries, and acts as a great base to explore Lavenham’s historic architecture or for walks into the beautiful English countryside.
Lavenham has changed little over the years as it hosts over 300 listed buildings. The half-timbered houses, including the stunning Lavenham Guildhall and the magnificent Swan Hotel have been used in many films over the years, including acting as Godric’s Hollow in the latest Harry Potter films(URL HIDDEN) The cottage is centrally located for Lavenham, and is very comfortable whilst retaining period features. We love to use the property a bolt-hole to get away from busy London living. The location is ideal for a romantic weekend retreat, a weekend away with a small family, or as a landing point if you are a visitor to the UK and want to explore all we have to offer. Water street has free parking if you are driving up, whilst the property is an easy bus or taxi (approximately £15) from Sudbury train station if you’re not(URL HIDDEN) The cottage is ideal for two or three people, but can accommodate a maximum of four. The master bedroom has a comfy victorian framed bed, the second bedroom is smaller, but also contains a comfy double bed. There is a lovely working fireplace in the property, perfect for curling up in front of on the colder winter evenings (wood is provided during the winter months). It should be noted that amongst the beautiful period features of the property, the original staircase is still in use, this is quite steep so not ideal for anyone with mobility problems(URL HIDDEN) Due to our central location, all the highlights that Lavenham has to offer are minutes from our door - from the local butcher and weekend market (in Market square) to the relaxing Swan spa and the phenomenal Great House restaurant. The property is also a great base for walks and cycle rides (Bikes can be kept securely in house or in back garden).
  • We had a wonderful stay at Ita's beautiful cottage. Everything was perfect and we didn't want to leave. The bed was comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. There was no TV, which was ok because we were there for a relaxing weekend and the peace around us was more than enough. Birds were singing in the garden each morning and the church bells ringing. It was an ideal relaxing retreat away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. We would definitely go back again and stay here. Ita was very friendly and answered all questions we had very promptly. She was a kind host who wanted us to have a fabulous time, which we did. Highly recommended. 5 stars all round.

  • We were lucky enough to find ita's house at late notice when making arrangements to visit Suffolk for a wedding, which turned out to by a very lucky Coincidence. The house is very beautiful and is well located within Lavenham. Lavenham itself is a gem and I'd recommend to anyone to visit and stay here. Ita was at hand to respond to any queries straight away. Full marks

    Oliver2016-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here for 2 nights for a wedding nearby and everything was perfect for our stay. Very cosy place. Two double bedroom and plenty of room downstairs in the lounge and kitchen. Parking right outside on the street for both or cars. Excellent communication from Ita. Would definitely recommend to others.

    Edward2016-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Ita's house is stylish and cosy. It is right in the heart of Lavenham, which is an astonishing and friendly place to visit. Great pubs, restaurants and a really fab park (brilliant for little ones) all a few minutes walk away. The house has lots of great touches - really nice kitchen ware and a very fine kettle as well as lots of charm and style. Extremely comfy beds and lots of towels. The garden is gorgeous and we sat out there for breakfast every day and listened to the birdsong. It is a small cottage in a terrace but we heard not a thing of the neighbours. Our in-laws, who were staying with us described it as the most romantic cottage they had ever visited'!

    Tim2017-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay in Lavenham - the house is very cute and on a really picturesque street, very close to pubs, restaurants and shops nearby. The house is quiet, the beds are comfortable, the kitchen is quite well equipped. I think the house is perfect for 2, the 3 of us felt a bit cramped. It would have been even more comfortable if a couple more things were provided for - a shower curtain, and cleaning supplies to help with washing up were the main ones. Thank you Ita for our stay!

The Cart Lodge at The Old Rectory, Kettlebaston is just 3 miles from Lavenham. The property is at the end of a lane, set in beautiful gardens. There are lots of walks including 20 mins to the nearest pub and an hour to Lavenham. The Cart Lodge is a snug hideaway for couples and/or individuals seeking a secluded getaway or business travellers needing peace and quiet at the end of the day. Coffee/tea/fresh milk/locally baked bread and home-made jams are provided for the first morning.
Although less than 10 yards from the house, The Cart Lodge is down a slope and behind a yew hedge so totally hidden from the main house. It has its own private terrace which catches the morning and evening sun
  • Maggie and Paddy's cart lodge is in a very secluded location and great for relaxing. There are plenty of Public Right of Ways nearby, including through the grounds themselves, which makes it easy to go for short or long walks. We made use of the tennis court a couple of times, which was in very good condition, and also enjoyed befriending their livestock (even if they are mostly destined for the dinner table!). The cart lodge itself is more than adequate for a 2- or 3-night stay, and was a great base for exploring the Lavenham area. Homemade bread and marmalade, butter and some milk was provided which was a nice touch, especially as the bread and marmalade were absolutely delicious! The only negative I envisage some people having is the poor internet connection, but you don't go to rural Suffolk to surf the web! In fact, it helps to further remove you from the stresses of modern life. We will definitely return to Maggie and Paddy's cart lodge for a peaceful weekend should we wish to explore the area again in the future.

This is lovely large barn conversion set in beautiful suffolk countryside close to idyllic cosy country pubs. You’ll love my place because of the open fires, original barn beams and lots of space. Its the perfect get away with a beautiful 2 acre garden and fantastic countryside walks.
The barn has two sides to it making it ideal for big families or mixed families who want a bit of space between them. The gardens are magnificent and it also features a fantastic games room which hosts a large pool table. It also has 3 living rooms so everyone can watch what they want on TV!
The Barn is nestled in picturesque country side. It's very quite and perfect for get away.
  • My friends and I wanted to get out of the hustle and bustle of London for the weekend and Sharon's place more than delivered! We were very happy with the barn conversion - the photos don't do it justice! Highly recommend this place.

  • My Family and I stayed in this Barn over the Christmas period and we found it so cosy, with plenty of space for everyone. The beds were all very comfortable, there was so much space for everyone to not get under each other's feet. There was a Xmas tree in the reception area when we arrived and made it feel lovely. The views and the size of the Barn are absolutely stunning. My Family and I absolutely loved it. The Games room went down really well with everyone. It was lovely and quiet with only the noise of some Geese and the sound of Horses going along the lane. Would definitely love to stay there again.

  • This was a fantastic place to stay over the easter weekend with a large group of friends. The property is communal but equally great for getting your own space. Well equipped. The games room was a big hit. Lovely location and a good base for exploring the local area. Tip: If you fancy a good evening meal, the King's Head in Bildeston can cater for a large group and was excellent.

  • Fantastic house - well equipped and idyllic location - and had everything we needed for a really comfortable stay. The games room was very popular, and we explored the local villages and pubs with a lovely countryside walk on Saturday.

  • Great place. Just as described. Fun play area to hang out in. Sharron left us a welcome wine which was thoughtful. We were a bit disappointed on how many times we were reminded to stay quiet. Renting to a group of 10+. It made us feel uneasy and we were constantly paranoid we were going to get a bad review. Not sure how quiet one can be with any group that size. Other than that it's a beautiful home and just as described.

    Ryan2017-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent place to stay. 8 of us (adults) stayed for the weekend to celebrate a 40th birthday. The layout of the venue is perfect for this type of gathering. Plenty of room for everyone to hang out together and really sociable. The property was so welcoming and everything we could have needed was there. We went for a nice stroll to Bildeston and spent the afternoon in the Kings Head - small, but really nice pub. Dinner at the Crown was wonderful. Chris, Hayley and Lindsey looked after us well and made us feel special. Sharon was a great host - on hand if needed but left us be to enjoy 'Prospects' Would recommend and will certainly book again.

  • We enjoyed our brief stay here... didnt really get to spend much time in the property as we had whizzed up for a family wedding but lovely setting very rural and great to have open skys, no street lighting and hear just birdsong! Many thanks.

A Grade ll listed Victorian Cottage set in the heart of the Medieval Village of Lavenham in Suffolk. Lavenham is the perfect place to visit and enjoy an all year round selection of festivals and events. There are many award winning galleries and boutique shops to browse with plenty to do and explore in the surrounding area. The appearance of the village has changed little over the years: half-timbered crooked houses lean majestically over the narrow streets.
Lavenham is the perfect place to visit and enjoy an all year round selection of festivals and events. There are many award winning galleries and boutique shops to browse with plenty to do and explore in the surrounding area. The appearance of the village has changed little over the years: half-timbered crooked houses lean majestically over the narrow streets, while the magnificent Swan Hotel creates a striking feature on the beautiful High Street. The stunning National Trust Lavenham Guildhall is located in the Market Place which forms the centre of the village. The Market Place is also home of several shops, The Little Hall and the Tourist Information Centre. Lavenham has been described many times as the “finest medieval village in England” and has more than 300 buildings listed as being of architectural and historical interest. Despite being steeped in history, the town is up to speed with what it has to offer the discerning visitor. An abundance of art galleries, independent lifestyle shops and boutiques, fine dining restaurants, bistro pubs and cafes. A real gem in the Heart of Suffolk, it is the perfect base to explore Suffolk’s countryside and coast.
  • Hour Cottage is situated right in the middle of beautiful Lavenham. Though the road itself is quite busy, the back bedroom was very quiet and the cottage has an air of tranquility. Well equipped, with everything you could want and lovely furnishings, this is a fantastic base for exploring the surrounding area and we would definitely recommend it as a place to stay.

    Rachel2017-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • The house is immaculate inside with really lovely paintwork in the main bedroom and lounge. Parking is right outside and it's only 30secs from the high street and nearest places to eat and drink. House is opposite one of the houses that was filmed in the Harry Potter film!

    Ollie2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place to stay for a relaxing and quiet break in a very picturesque Suffolk town. The apartment is very clan and comfortable, and there is a great selection of pubs and restaurants within walking distance.

  • Esther is a fantastic host, and Hour Cottage is a beautiful little house in a lovely little village. The Cottage is very clean, very well presented and the garden is clearly well looked after - sitting on the patio in the reclining chairs enjoying the morning sun was wonderful. The beds were extremely comfortable, the bed linen warm and soft, even the towels provided were remarkable. Arriving to tea/coffee/sugar on the side and milk in the fridge was extremely well received by tired travellers, even more so when we noticed the biscuits! Esther was communicative, clear, and helpful, and we will be forever grateful for her willingness to negotiate a flexible check-out time at late notice! We loved our stay in Hour Cottage, and Esther's hospitality was a big part of that. Overall an experience I would highly recommend to anyone looking to stay anywhere near Lavenham

    Sam2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Esther is great - easy and quick communication and the cottage is extremely tidy and clean. Beautiful village and the cottage is in the heart of it all.

Light and spacious double room in pretty Grade II listed property in the heart of Lavenham. Ideal for exploring this beautiful medieval village and surrounding area. A former mill building, the house is in a private, quiet courtyard development in easy walking distance of excellent restaurants and tea rooms.
Light and spacious double room in beautiful house, in a private courtyard development in the medieval village of Lavenham.
Nestled in the heart of the stunning Suffolk countryside, Lavenham is one of England's finest medieval wool villages. Medieval charm can be found around every corner with its winding streets, thatched cottages and timber framed buildings. With more than 200 listed properties, Lavenham’s beautifully preserved medieval architecture has featured in countless TV and films productions over the years. The village was chosen as the setting for Harry Potter’s family home in Godric’s Hollow. The much photographed 14th century De Vere House, in nearby Water Street, appears as the young magician’s birthplace in JK Rowling’s adventure story Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows.
  • The house was spotless and had everything we needed. The small touches were lovely like the roses in the bedroom, radio on lightly and small chilled Prosecco in the mini fridge. The bed was super comfy too. Location wise it was just a 1 minute walk to the Market square and 5 mins walk to the High street. Jennifer and her partner were excellent hosts and so friendly. I would highly recommend.

    James2017-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • Jennifer is a charming hostess with great attention to detail. Besides the usual tea and coffee she supplied some yummy pastries and even a little bottle of Prosecco! Our room enjoyed a lovely view over the rolling Suffolk countryside. The location is very quiet yet only a few steps from the centre of Lavenham. All the pubs and restaurants are within a short walk. Perfect!

  • We had a lovely stay with Jennifer. Location is great, being in the centre of Lavenham. Room is lovely with a great view. It felt very homely for us and was a delight to stay.

  • The host is very kind, friendly and helpful. We were made to feel at home instantly. The room spacious and comfortable with tea/coffee, and a little treat in the fridge. Beautiful touches added which makes your stay here even more pleasurable. I look forward to staying here again on future visits to the area.

  • Exceptional value. Amazing hosts. Jennifer was incredibly accommodating. Very clean room, mini fridge with complimentary refreshments was great touch. Would highly recommend a visit to their lovely home in idyllic Lavenham. Taxi to Sudbury train station on £13. Amazing setting for quiet weekend away in the country.

Thanks so much, Jennifer. We'll definitely recommend your place and hopefully come back someday.

A recently renovated Cottage, ideally located in the centre of the Medieval wool town of Lavenham. Located a few minutes walk to the market square and high street. Lavenham itself is regarded as the finest example of a medieval town in the UK. The town has over 300 buildings listed as being of architectural and historical importance. Constable Court has been renovated to a high standard and benefits from all modern conveniences.
Constable Court is located centrally to all immenities. Easy walking to all pubs, shops, galleries, tea rooms, ice cream parlour and restaurants. Suitable for honeymooners and families with 2 spacious bedrooms offering super king beds or one bedroom with twin beds if preferred. We also benefit from allocated parking to the rear of the property. A well behaved dog can be accommodated on request at the time of booking, although restricted to the downstairs of the house.
Lavenham is a truly unique town. Constable Court is situated in arguably the most prestigious street in Lavenham. Much has been filmed in Lavenham including Harry Potter Deathly Hallows part 1 and 2; Lovejoy ‘Last Tango in Lavenham’ and Vincent Price film ‘Witch Finder General’, to name a few. Lavenham can even claim a connection to Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, as poet Jane Taylor wrote this while living here. The Church of St Peter and St Paul overlooks the town and is a fine example of Late Perpendicular Gothic architecture.
  • A great cottage and an absolute pleasure to stay in. The beds are super super comfortable and one of the best sleeps I have had. The kitchen is well equipped with everything I would need. Would I stay again ..... YES!!!!

The Crown Post Suite at Number Ten Wine Bar and Kitchen (sleeps 2) is a mixture of everything you would expect from a beautifully restored period building, coupled with contemporary luxury. The suite comprises of living and sleeping accommodation over two stories.
  • What can I say about this property? For starters, the pictures don't do it justice! It is absolutely stunning and finished to a real high spec - clearly no expense has been spared. It is full of charm and character. The bed is so incredibly comfortable and I have never used such a fantastic shower before. It has all the facilities you could need for a short stay and the welcome basket was a very nice touch. The large private garden was lovely and we enjoyed spending our evenings with a glass of wine in front of the fire. Perfect location for exploring Lavenham itself and the surrounding areas. Jo, her husband and her team are all really lovely, friendly and down to earth people and we can't wait to go back to stay again.

The cottitch (i.e. 'small cottage') is right in the centre of Lavenham on sought after quiet and peaceful Shilling Street with free parking. Your location lets you walk to great restaurants and pubs and explore Lavenham's architecture, or walk out into the countryside (even to Long Melford), or simply decide to retreat in your own cosy medieval cottage to relax with a book in front of a fire, look out at a great country view, or explore the cottitich's own small magical garden.
The Cottich is a small 15th Century Medieval cottage in the heart of Lavenham on Shilling Street with uninterrupted views of the countryside and a 1 minute walk into the Market Square. Its a great bolt-hole away from busy London living or a wonderful landing point of you are a visitor to the UK and want to explore the wonderment of Suffolk. Ideal for a romantic weekend, retreat, or time away with a small family to give them a run around and some country living. The master bedroom has a king size bed in it. The other bedroom is a large landing area above the stairs so there is no separate door to give privacy. Here we currently have one child size french antique bed and an ikea single futon bed. There are also travel cots provided (no linen). We suggest in terms of occupancy either a couple and an extra adult or a family with under two children, or two children and a baby. The cottage is small and even though the sleeping arrangements can handle 4 adults you would be squashed and we'd not recommend it for your comfort. We are a family of two adults and a 7 and 4 year old and sleep comfortably, plus the upstairs bed area allows a place for our children to play away from us relaxing by the fire! In the upstairs second bedroom area there are integrated bunk beds built into the old cottage wall with two full size ikea single mattresses that can comfortable fit adults/children. Both beds have overhead lights to read by. There is no extra cupboard space in that landing room though. On Shilling Street you are in a local neighbourhood not surrounded by guest houses, but by our lovely neighbours who live there permanently. This makes your stay more 'local' and less 'touristy'. You are also in the depths of the countryside where its absolutely still and silent at night with no street lamps (but we have an outside door light as do most on the street). Point is though our cottage is about peace and quiet, serenity and calm, please come if you are able to respect the quiet of the countryside and want that feeling. If you need a place to stay where you want to have a party sadly our home is probably not right for you as voices music carry terribly in the countryside. The Cottitch is a "break away from busy city life kind of a place". And you'll love it if you want peace, quiet, serenity, right in the centre but of a vibrant wonderful medieval village but also with undisturbed country views. Its magic.
From Wikipedia: Lavenham is a village, civil parish and electoral ward in Suffolk, England. It is noted for its 15th century church, half-timbered medieval cottages and circular walk. In the medieval period it was among the 20 wealthiest settlements in England. Today, it is a popular day-trip destination for people from across the country along with another historic wool town in the area, Long Melford. Of note Shilling Street where the Cottitch is, is a little bit famous because in the late 18th century, the village was home to poet Jane Taylor, who while living in Shilling Street, wrote the poem The Star, from which the lyrics for the nursery rhyme Twinkle Twinkle Little Star are taken.
  • Michele's cottage was absolutely brilliant. It had such cute character, the beds were super comfy, it was lovely getting to have breakfast in the stunning garden both mornings and the location was perfect - we were there for a wedding and it was super close to the church and the bride's family home. Michele was extremely helpful and accommodating - we couldn't have asked for better communication and care! Definitely recommend staying here :)

    Skye2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Where to start.... this cosy cottitch is packed full of higgledy-piggledy charm and was just perfect for a post-Christmas get away - a chance for us to spend some quiet family time together in beautiful surroundings. Michele is a great communicator and everything was straightforward on arrival. The cottitch is indeed small but absolutely fine for a family of mum, dad, a 10 and an 8 year old, and a medium sized dog. (And we really appreciated this being a dog-friendly property - thank you). The kids loved the built-in bunk beds and our bed was really comfortable. So steeped in history, it felt a privilege to be able to stay here. Lavenham also exceeded our expectations. I can't imagine there is a more wonderful place to be at Christmas time with all the Christmas trees in the square and fairly light everywhere. It was enchanting. We even had snow! Bonus for the kids (big Harry Potter fans) that James and Lily's house in 'Godric's Hollow' is just a one minute walk from the cottitch. Highly recommend Number 10 on Water Street as a great place for a meal in a stunning 15th century building (also dog friendly). Thanks so much, Michele.

  • This little cottich is lovely and cosy. It contains everything you need and has loads of history and charm. The garden is a lovely little space, the bunk beds are great for kids and the main bedroom is very nice with a big bed and a good mattress and pillows. It's situated in a historical, quiet residential street that is less than 5 minutes walk to the marketplace. Really good for a short break (we did Friday and Saturday night) or as a staging post to go further afield. Michele was really welcoming, great communication and local tips, and it was great to have provisions on arrival. Definitely recommend, lovely property.

We are fortunate to own a four double bedroom medieval house in the pretty village of Bildeston, near Lavenham, Bury St Edmunds and Constable Country.
We are pleased to welcome guests to our lovely 15th century home which was originally a medieval hall house and has since gone through numerous changes, including being a dairy, three workers' cottages and a wool shop. It is now a comfortable four bed home with a lovely garden. About the location Bildeston is a pretty village in the heart of rural Suffolk. Not for those seeking the big city experience - although we are only an hour and a half from London and an hour from Norwich - but if you, like us, enjoy walking and cycling in the countryside, exploring the local pubs and visiting the Suffolk coast, Constable country and historic churches it's an excellent location The village has a grocer's shop and three pubs, including the Crown, which is renowned for its food and the Kings Head which brews its own beer. The market town of Hadleigh is some 5 miles away. Historic Bury St Edmunds, Colchester and Ipswich are the nearest main towns. Constable Country is close by and the coast a 40 minute drive. Cambridge and Norwich are an hour's drive away and London is 50 minutes on the train from Colchester.
The house is in the heart of the Suffolk countryside. Great for walking, cycling, riding or touring. There are plenty of pretty villages nearby, and pubs and restaurants galore. The Suffolk coast, from Felixtowe to Orford, Aldeburgh and Southwold is about an hour's drive away, and even the North Norfolk coast is possible for a day out.
  • Our stay at Mark and Gillian’s was fantastic. They are excellent hosts in every way. Their house is beautiful, spacious and cosy. The photos don’t do it justice. The location is fantastic and the village has great pubs and walks. I can’t recommend staying there enough!

The Dairy Wing at Lavenham Priory is an achingly beautiful, self contained 3 bedroom cottage comprising the South wing of the world famous Lavenham Priory. It's right in the very centre of Lavenham but, all you'll hear are birds singing. The property has everything you'll need for a short week day or weekend break or a longer holiday. It has a private dining patio - and you can use our 3 acre grounds. It's great for couples, families (with kids) & big groups. Pets welcome with prior consent.
Lavenham Priory is a remarkable Grade I listed, medieval half-timbered house dating back to the 13th Century and is set in 3 acres of picturesque grounds in the heart of the beautiful, quaint and historic Suffolk village of Lavenham. Perfect for a weekend or week day break or a longer holiday. I also have The Priory Suite which has a beautiful 4 poster bed (please see my other listing) - which is perfect for a romantic getaway for couples.
  • The Dairy Wing was a perfect place to celebrate a family birthday over a long weekend. Incredible hosts who were both friendly and helpful, beautiful house and home comforts, unexpected (but much appreciated!) welcome breakfast hamper, local information, plentiful white fluffy towels for use, constant supply of logs for the burner.. could go on! Will definitely return at some point.

  • Went above and beyond. Lovely couple. Fantastic stay.

  • Jonathan and Ruby made our Christmas family weekend get together perfect. Nothing was too much trouble; as two of us were staying in the Gallery Room they even popped two extra chairs in the cottage to enable us all to eat together. The Priory is an amazing building, set in a beautiful town, and we had snow too which just added to the magic of the weekend!

    Julie2017-12-10T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful stay in a wonderful place. The Dairy wing of The Priory is beautifully furnished, homely and clean. Our boys loved access to the orchard, pond and field at the back of the house and the adventure of staying in such a historic building (a sneaky view of the cellar was a highlight). Ruby and Jonathan were amazing hosts and went out of their way to make us feel at home as well as helping us through a mountain of washing. The welcome hamper and accessories were very thoughtful and we wanted for nothing. Highly recommended.

  • Ruby and Jonathan are the bests hosts I have ever experienced! And this is the most gorgeous high quality stunning cottage ever with wonderful gardens and a pond. We had a fantastic time and couldn't have wished for better. The hosts went over above by even walking a dog, they left a wonderful breakfast for us- plenty of eggs, coffee, tea, yoghurt- the house has everything you want. The rooms are super high quality - wonderful finish and super stylish. The bathrooms even had the White Company products in and fluffy towels! Thank you thank you thank you! Highly recommend

  • Stunning house done to a high standard. Could not recommend it enough and I will be back.

    Danielle2017-12-17T00:00:00Z
  • Ruby and Jonathan we're delightful hosts. The house and surrounding gardens we're beautiful, the kids enjoyed roaming around very much. The property's location is great being situated right in the middle of Lavenham. We had a fantastic time.

    Sam2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • We (two couples) had a lovely weekend stay here. The Priory Dairy is immaculate and cosy and we loved the peace of it all. The welcome hamper was amazing! We expected to have to do a breakfast food shop, but it was all provided. We brought our dog with us, and the space is ideal for a good run around, with stone floors (easily cleaned) for muddy paws. The bed linen is lovely quality and there were extras such as White Company toiletries and fluffy dressing gowns. Very comfortable nights sleep. We know Lavenham well (we used to live here), and The Dairy offered a great alternative to a hotel. We would definitely be back- thank you Ruby and Jonathan!

An idyllic bed and breakfast retreat close to the 13th century wool town of Lavenham. After spending the day exploring the sites and delights of Suffolk return to our beautifully situated home and enjoy delicious home-cooked food from our garden.
Our house is a relaxed family home where everyone is welcome. This room is a really quiet twin/double room with large and luscious beds and an en-suite bathroom with hand held shower. There are tea and coffee facilities and electric radio/alarms.
If you don't know Suffolk and the area around Lavenham, there is masses to explore whether on foot, bicycle or car. Lavenham is an historic 13th century wool town full of quaint beamed houses and the market place is overlooked by the original Guild Hall, owned by the National Trust. There is a delightful 1 hour walk to Lavenham from The Old Rectory. The pretty villages of Kersey or Chelsworth are only a couple of miles away or slightly further is the town of Long Melford with several houses open to the public and just beyond are Clare and Cavendish. The Old Rectory is almost exactly equidistant between Colchester, Ipswich and Bury St Edmunds so very accessible if you are in Suffolk on business. Further adventures include exploring the coastline from Frinton, through Felixstowe, Woodbridge, Aldeburgh and Southwold or paddling down the river Stour or Waveney. If you are cycling around Suffolk, we have puncture repair kits and a basic workshop to help you service any little repair needed.
  • This is a beautiful place to stay for a peaceful and relaxing break, and greatly exceeded our expectations. The rooms are warm, comfortable and beautifully decorated with stunning views. Home made chocolate cake and tea on arrival was a highlight. The breakfasts were delicious with the best sausages I can remember. A great base for exploring the local area and Maggie is very happy to point you in the right direction. Many thanks to Maggie and family for such warm hospitality. We hope to come back soon.

  • We stayed at the Old Rectory for one night . It is in an idyllic rural setting and we were made so welcome. Maggie was a wonderful host and had thought of everything we could need . Our room was very comfortable and immaculately clean. Breakfast was lovely , especially the sausages ! Thank you Maggie for the Bee Keeping lesson . We would defined stay there again .

    Susie2016-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • The Old Rectory is a lovely period building set in spacious gardens well off the main road, so if peace and quiet are what you want – it's perfect. Maggie is the perfect host, too - so accommodating and welcoming. She helped us with details of all the best places to eat - one of which is her breakfast table! Our room was in the newly transformed 'cart lodge'. It was very clean and comfortable, with plenty of seating, a nice comfy bed with fresh, crisp white bedlinen – and even a little table and chairs outside for our own private little view of the garden.

    Shani2016-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • Maggie and family were very welcoming , ideal hosts. The house and location are exactly as described and pictured, there was even warm fluffy towels ready in the bathroom in the morning, the finishing touches to an stay. The breakfast was cooked to order with excellent ingredients. Highly recommend a stay.

  • The only word I can think of to describe the priory is 'exquisite'. It's incredibly beautiful, steeped in history and absolutely memorable. If I could have moved in forever, I would have! Jonathan and ruby are incredible hosts and clearly (and rightfully) proud of their incredible priory. The place would be incredible on its own but the thoughtful touches they add make it all the more special. I cannot recommend staying here enough. Just go.

The cottage is in the very heart of medieval Lavenham and yet it is close to great views and stunning country walks. Lavenham has many fine restaurants - the best of which is literally a few steps away - and family-friendly activities. You’ll love my place because of the very comfy beds and the cosiness. My place is good for couples and small dogs.
We make sure you have everything you need for a relaxing stay. There is always an unlimited supply of seasoned logs and kindling for the log burner; games, books and DVDs; deliciously comfortable bedding, fluffy towels, and plenty of loo rolls!
  • We had a lovely weekend in the Market Keepers cottage . The cottage was lovely, location was perfect - right in the centre of beautiful old Lavenham The bed in the main bedroom was unexpectedly so delux, so comfortable ( usually just passable!) , really good pillows ( always disappointing in most rentals) the duvet had to b goose down as it was so thick and stuffed but so light and super warm. It was all noticed, it felt like home from home! Peter got in touch prior to going to give us the info on his house , gave us his details and that of his housekeeper Coral, who Looks after any hiccups anyone might have in the house, and told me to call him or Coral if I had any problems . Coral dropped by on the first evening to make sure we had everything we needed, had managed to get the fire going and seen the welcome basket and the Milk in the fridge. The kitchen cupboards had tea, coffee and sugar . Couldn't ask for more. It was official xmas weekend 3 day fair in the sq the electrician team had borrowed the house parking space for our car while sorting the xmas lights, so Coral left a bottle of wine on the doorstep for the temporary inconvenience , (we managed fine) the gesture was very thoughtful and appreciated. I'd go back in a heartbeat - would recommend to anyone looking to go to this beautiful part of Suffolk and to this lovely market keepers cottage. Thank you for your lovely little house Peter , and a big thank you to Coral for making our stay so trouble free and looking after us so well. It's a winner! ********** Hope to come back soon ! Dee

  • Lovely quiet cottage in great location close to restaurants and pubs. Lovely comfortable bed and wonderful garden

    Steve2017-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Spent an amazing three nights here over the Christmas period. The cottage was lovely, very cosy, comfy beds, and surprisingly spaciously for the two of us. It was incredibly well stocked, Peter and Coral made sure that there was plenty of firewood and other essentials, so we felt immediately at home. The location is superb - quite amazing to be in the centre of the historic market place, looking out over Lavenham Guidhall, and the private parking space much appreciated too. It was also - at least when we were there - surprisingly quiet and tranquil. There is a beautiful patio/ garden which we would have made use of during the summer months. Lavenham itself is lovely - great little shops, spots to eat/drink, places to have a tea/ cake/ coffee. We also took two great walks: one to Long Melford along the old railway line, and another through the countryside past Brent Eleigh, and its church. Highly recommended, we hope to be back soon!

  • Fantastic, Charming and Quite! Just what I needed.

    D2017-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was easy to find being in the centre of the village and was extremely clean and well maintained. It was ideal for us with our small Jack Russel as the garden was secure and the back yard too. Very practical solid brick floors meant it was easy to wipe up any water bowl splashes etc. Lots of good footpaths to walk straight from the cottage including the Lavenham circular walk. The parking space outside was definitely a bonus as the market square car parking area was always quite full. Athough central the house was nice and quiet overnight for relaxing evenings.

Lavenham is a beautiful medieval former wool village. Lots of lovely tea shops and good restaurants together with pretty houses and cottages. Great location to visit other Suffolk towns and villages and to relax.
  • Theresa's cottage was very nice. The picture don't show how cosy it actually is. I stayed in the small room with my partner, we really enjoyed being awaken by the sun. It is a very quiet room. And we were amazed to be so close to the village. It is really worth to spend a day walking in town to see the 15th century timber-frame houses.

    laura 2016-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • Theresa kept in touch, was fine about our last minute fourth person staying overnight. The area was v beautiful and every thing was thoughtfully arranged. Maybe an iron and a hairdryer would be good; probably was there, but we didn't find them.

    Sue2015-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • Theresa's cottage was really cosy and comfortable and perfect for our one night stay. Everything was beautifully maintained and of high quality. Communicating with Theresa was straightforward and efficient and she had thoughtfully provided, milk, tea and fruit (as well as bread and cereals) which was really welcome after a chilly afternoon in Bury! We enjoyed a lovely walk across the fields and through the River valley to Brent Eleigh. Theresa's cottage is a lovely spot to enjoy Lavenham and the gorgeous South Suffolk countryside.

  • We - 2 couples - stayed at this property for one night in January. This cosy and spotlessly clean house had everything we needed: the finishings and linens were top drawer, the house was warm and inviting, and all food basics were provided. Plus, the location of the house made it easy to enjoy the beautiful and historical town of Lavenham. Honestly, we couldn't have asked for more. We had friends who stayed in a hotel in town, and they were very jealous of our accommodation. :)

    Carole2016-01-15T00:00:00Z

Comfy bed, cost sitting room, great modern bathroom and kitchen and a courtyard to sit in. It feels very spacious even though two beds. Would highly recommend. Theresa was very accommodating and provided breakfast and tea / coffee etc. Thank you!

Star Cottage is a beautifully presented red brick grade II listed cottage in a great location in the heart of historic Lavenham, Suffolk. Restaurants, pubs, shops, church and Guildhall are a few moments walks from the cottage. A great base for exploring Suffolk and surrounding coast and counties. The woodburner and new central heating will keep you toasty. The refurbished interior is luxurious but retains wealth of period features. Egyptian cotton sheets and fluffy towels add to your comfort. The cottage sleeps 4 and is child friendly. It is pet (one dog) friendly on request at the time of booking.
Star Cottage is centrally located for Lavenham which is perfect. The cottage is very comfortable and yet retains period features and quirkiness. We love the local walks and eateries in Lavenham - it's a foodie destination with medieval charm!
I love the central location of the cottage. I like the abundance of free on-street parking in front of the cottage as well as a large car park (also free) just 50m away. We love the circular walk and the wonky houses and medieval buildings. Scenes from the Harry Potter films were filmed in Lavenham. By day and at night you see the atmospheric beauty of the historic town. Lavenham has been a great base for us to explore the rest of Suffolk including the coast. Lavenham is very friendly and has a large number of excellent places to eat - most are pet friendly and our Labrador comes with us and gets a warm welcome.
  • Star Cottage is in the perfect location for exploring Lavenham and the local area. It looks like a tiny quaint little cottage on the outside, with a modern door which hints to the beautifully decorated cottage within. It seems to just keep going back once you enter, with a surprisingly spacious interior with all the perfect touches to create a home from home. Liz is a fantastic host, brilliant communication before, during and after the stay in the cottage, warm, friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend this cottage.

  • This is the perfect cottage for exploring Lavenham and the surrounding areas. The beautiful village and all its amenities, including excellent eateries, are within an easy stroll. It's been stylishly refurbished with just the right amount of decorative touches to make it cosy without being cluttered. It's excellently appointed with everything you could want, including a well-equipped kitchen. And Liz was kind enough to leave us a bottle of wine and a packet of shortbread - thank you! There's a pretty backyard, with garden furniture, where we enjoyed eating breakfast and sitting out for a cup or tea or glass of wine. Communication was straightforward and Liz sent clear instructions for letting ourselves in, how to operate things in the cottage, and what to do on checkout. The beds are comfortable and capacious. There's free parking on the street outside and we never had any trouble getting a space. Highly recommend.

  • We are a family of four with our dog Pip, and we spent a wonderful few days at Liz's place during the Easter break. Its centrally located in beautiful Lavenham and perfect for beautiful walks and the lovely pubs and restaurants. The house itself is very well equipped and lovely & cosy. Thank you Liz for the welcome biscuits and bottle of wine, a nice touch. Liz was very helpful with info about walks and places to eat and replied to our questions promptly before we even got to Lavenham. There is a lot of information/literature/contact details about places to visit etc in the cottage. We've put our recommendations in the guest book. Thanks again for a lovely stay.

We went on some short walks from the house and got the bus to a starting point for a longer walk. Marianne was very welcoming and happy to help/advise on what to do in the local area.

  • My wife and I rented the property for 5 nights in June 2017. We really enjoyed our stay in Boxford which is a lovely village with good amenities- 2 general stores, post office, butcher's and 2 nice pubs. The property is as described. Small but very cosy. Vey comfortable bed. Well equipped. The welcome breakfast basket was anice touchand most (Website hidden by Airbnb) outside seating area was the only thing that would have improved our stay but we were able to stroll to the pubs and sit outside whilst enjoying the excellent real ales! There are many interesting and beautiful attractions within easy driving distance. Coast is about 45min drive. Would return.

  • If you need a quiet getaway, I highly recommend Marianne's quaint cottage. Nestled in a small, beautiful village, the cottage breaths coziness. Marianna provided a basket of breakfast supplies and heaps of information about the local areas of attraction. Everything from start to finish went smoothly - thank you so much Marianna. Marianne is a perfect host, gifting us with fresh flowers and a weekend breakfast basket on arrival, she is very thoughtful in making sure we had all we needed. There is plenty to do in the area or you can just relax and enjoy the space and village. Highly recommended. Thank you Marianne

    madeleine2017-04-23T00:00:00Z
  • What can we say about Marianne's absolutely gorgeous cottage! It certainly lives up the beautiful quaint little village of Boxford (ah yes, the Fleece pub is definitely worth a visit for a pint after a hard day exploring the surrounding area...); the views of the church from the bedroom would put a smile on the face of a stone statue. In short: perfect. Unfortunately we fancy ourselves as a sort of vague and unprepared Edmund Hillary expedition when we're on holiday and were out having our own little adventures in Suffolk and Essex all day each day so didn't manage to meet up with Marianne. What we can say is she left wonderful complimentary breakfast gifts (with hiding bacon - we couldn't believe our luck in the morning), the place was full of guides to local areas/museums/villages and she'd left towels/kitchen utensils/basic cooking essentials. Plus more little homely touches, but we don't want to reveal all the surprises so you can visit and experience them for yourself!
