Appena prenotato a Millom

Our roundhouse is on a working farm with Swaledale and Blackfaced sheep and heavy horses (which you can book to ride!) in a beautiful valley in south west Cumbria. It has amazing views, a stream running nearby, is peaceful with good interior facilities. Close to us are a variety of good pub/restaurants (would recommend having a car though). You’ll love our roundhouse, it is unique, cosy, romantic, has a stunning location, and is good for couples, friends, outdoor folk, and we take dogs.
Our personally made beautiful roundhouse (NB new roof November 2016!) is set in an idyllic location in the south west corner of the Lake District National Park on a working farm. The combination of soft wood and circular shape creates a very relaxing place - with the wood burning stove and dined lights it can be both practical (it has full electric and water) and very romantic! It has a lovely big bed for two, if more can sleep 4/5; the kitchen is fully appointed (induction hob, toaster, kettle microwave and fridge!) and sink with hot water. The showers and toilets are outside the Roundhouse only 20m away and immaculately clean. Enjoy!
There are many local amazing things to both see and do. Right on site you have award winning Cumbrian Heavy Horses, where you can ride a magnificent heavy horse, Shires, Clydesdales, and four other pure bred heavy horse breeds. We also have the sheep but they are best as a spectator sport (watching us run around them is very entertaining !!) as well as a myriad of walks, up onto both Black and White Combe and a walk through to Swinside Stone Circle can both be accessed from base. For steam buffs we have the narrow guage line at Muncaster (Ravenglass) to Boot, the L'al Ratty, and the larger steam trains at Haverthwaite, which run between there and the Aquarium. The South Lakes Wildlife Park is 25 mins away and is amazing to see, and there are various museums, and in general, walks galore, with Grizebeck Forest for Mountain Biking, Lakes for kayaking and sailing, gondola steam boats on Lake Windermere, with easy access through to the Central Lakes. Just up the coast from us you have Muncaster Castle with it's Owls and Falconry demonstrations too. So much to do, or you can just chill out!
  • Annie was an absolute dream to deal with. Lovely person, lovely farm, and equally lovely accommodation. Highly recommended. Very cosy, comfortable and extremely revitalising place to stay!

  • A fantastically cosy stay with beautiful surrounding views, we couldn't ask for anything more! The Round house was perfectly equipped with everything we needed for a really comfortable stay. We would definitely return!

  • We had a very enjoyable stay, worth checking out. Very comfortable and a great scenic view.

  • Absolutely lovely, romantic spot. Wonderful views, well equipped. Wood-burning stove with clear instructions for newbies. We really just loved our stay and couldn't recommend this place more.

  • We had a lovely, peaceful stay at the Roundhouse. Beautiful scenery and good fun to be on a working farm! Annie was very helpful from start to finish.

  • A great gem in the lesser-travelled area of the Lake District. We stayed here for three nights with our three-month old son. We loved the wild seclusion of the location and the fact that we could go on walks straight out the front door. The Roundhouse is comfortable and well appointed. Seeing the horses walk by and waking up to sheep with their new lambs was an added bonus.

  • Very welcoming hosts, great environment and a really unique building.

    Ian2016-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you for a fantastic stay, we really enjoyed our time at the Roundhouse. Very spacious, well-equipped and with incredible scenery right outside. This was exactly what we were after from our stay in the Lake District.

Our light modern 2 bedroom apartment is situated on the top floor of our impressive building in the centre of Millom with stunning views to the Duddon Valley and beyond. Excellent location with pubs, restaurants and public transport all within a 200 meter walk. Hodbarrow nature reserve and some fabulous beaches are all within a 15 min walk. Our area is a popular cycling destination so we have a safe storage area if guests would like to bring bicycles. We look forward to welcoming you.
Visitors to our area are used to B&B's Pubs Cottages however we think we are the only place in the local area to offer the flexibility of an apartment. Generous flexible sleeping apace in a warm and extremely well furnished apartment with all your local amenities on your doorstep. We also have a great community arts theatre across the road so feel free to ask whats on during your stay. If you need anything ready for your arrival please just ask, a breakfast hamper, dinner in the fridge we are always willing to help
Millom is a small town on the fringe of the Lake District. Whilst there is plenty to explore in our area you are also only a half hour drive to some of the more well known Lake District towns and villages. We are so lucky to have not only the lakes and mountains on our door step but also some amazing beaches
  • Heather was an excellent host. Everything was superb. The apartment was great, very clean and had a lot of space. The location was ideal for trips into the Lake District and I would stay again.

    Tom2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Heathers place was far nicer than the pictures showed, it was a lovely apartment, in a very quaint town, it was about 1/2 hour to Windermere and quite the scenic drive, we ate at 2 of the local restaurants and the food was very good. Heather met us upon our arrival and gave us some great information about what to do and where to go, we had a great time in the Lake District

    Beth2017-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is a fabulous apartment, well fitted and comfortable. We have enjoyed ourselves immensely !

    Martin2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Heather was a great host. The check in was flexible and the apartment was so clean! Heather provided information about local amenities and walks etc which was great. There is plenty of parking nearby, as well as a Tesco about a minutes walk away. The apartment was perfect size, and beautifully decorated. Heather also left us a birthday cake, a welcome pack and a treat for the dog, which were very thoughtful extra touches! Would definitely recommend for a lovely relaxing weekend away.

    Abigail2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very very great stay! I would highly recommend this beautifully light and spacious flat! Thanks Heather for the warm welcome!

    Krista2017-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • Check-in and check-out was so easy, you just enter a code on a lock box on the building, it's quick and efficient. Heather is extremely nice, and gives you some great local tips. She was also very communicative during our stay. The wifi was spotty at some points, but worked for the most part and Heather let us know about this ahead of time, which we appreciated. The flat is so cute and well decorated. It was like home away from home for us. You get great views of the town and the pastures from the flat, especially the sunset from the kitchen window. For an entire flat to yourself, comfortably fitting up to 5 people, this place is an amazing value. The flat was clean as a whistle. Location is central. Right in the main square of town, as well as a quick walk to mountains and lakes. Less than a 5 minute walk away from the train station and a grocery store. The fireplace makes the whole flat! The amenities were fantastic. The kitchen is fully equipped with coffee, broth, utensils, sugar, milk, and everything else! Such a great stay at The Rafters ❤️

    Jessica2017-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • Ideally situated on the Western side of the Lake District far from the madding crowds

Harbourside House is in a little known location on the Southwest coast of Cumbria on the outskirts of the Lake District National Park. The house is one of a row of terraced cottages and has been totally refurbished including the addition of a first floor conservatory so the changing view can be enjoyed whatever the weather. It is a place to relax, or walk from, or use as a base for exploring the coastal or mountainous areas with it's activities and views to suit all.
Nearly 2 years has been spent completely gutting and renovating Harbourside House. Now we are able to go there and enjoy the place, the surroundings and the walks. I have loved sharing my space in this little known area of Cumbria with friends all of whom wish to return so I have decided to welcome guests from Airbnb. The house is on three levels with bedrooms on ground and top floors. The middle floor is totally open plan living with conservatory, lounge, dining area and kitchen. The kitchen area has a large table top combo oven and a second small microwave oven. In the draws you will find a slow cooker (great for days out) and a halogen oven option ! Whilst refurbishing we took the opportunity of further insulating the walls making the gas central heating very efficient so you can keep really cosy when it's cold outside ! Please enjoy whether you use as a base for high adventure or a space to relax and chill.
Harbourside house is just on the outskirts of Haverigg overlooking the River Lazy as it joins the sea. The group of houses is partly holiday cottages but mostly residential. The village has a convenience store, post office, cash point, a pub and a fish and chip shop. There is a very popular cafe by the beach. In the Marina there is a bar and waterski facility and a walk further on and up there is a new bar and pizzaria with good views. Most of the Marina is now a RSPB bird reserve and Hodbarrow Nature reserve and makes a lovely walk. Millom is a town just over 1 mile away with a Tesco, banks, Fuel station, a museum and cafes, restaurants and take-aways. Walking from the house, it is just 10 minutes to the sand dunes and sandy beach which is part of the long distance Cumbrian Way path. Just 30-40 minutes drive will take you the mountains of the Lake District or to Muncaster Castle with its Birds of Prey Centre or to Ravensglass for the stunning steam train trip to Boot. The whole of the Lake District is waiting to be explored.
  • Everything is amazing, don't want for anything at this property. Lovely quality furnishings, very stylish and thoughtful touches. Nice walks in the area, local pub was friendly and cheap.

    alyson2017-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely house! Everything we needed was provided (including wine and biscuits!), and the house was really nicely presented and very clean. The balcony on the middle floor looks out on to the beach, making it a nice place to sit, and we had plenty of room for our family and dog. The house is in walking distance to a small supermarket, and comfortable driving distance to the lakes and mountains. Adrienne was extremely helpful and got back to us straight away with any questions we had. Very pleased to recommend it: we had a great holiday!

    lee2017-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • A very comfortable stay in a lovely property - light, bright and fitted out to a high standard with great views from the conservatory. Excellect communication and useful information provided by Adrienne. Thank you

    Janet2017-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely place to stay, with a modern sleek open plan living room looking over the harbour. Feels home from home with all the items needed to do basic cooking with distance views off the most natural parts off south lakes . Adrienne is a great friendly host, any questions where answered promptly. In the area off waking distance is a good beach cafe, with local essentials store with a friendly pub just down the road. A very comfortable stay. Very pleased to recommend Harbourside House.

  • Booked for 3 of our engineers working in the area! The guys could not speak high enough of the accomodation and the hosts, David and Carol. Magnificent views and comfortable, clean living space. Would recommend to anyone working or travelling in the area.

  • Great Host, Super friendly people. If you're up for hiking in the lake district, you'll need a car but its worth the journey

    Karlien2017-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Carol's Horama house. The house itself is secluded but not far away from the town center and the lake nearby. The lake itself was amazing, not very crowded with some great views. We drove up to Keswick from here which was around 1 1/2 hrs drive in case people want to explore north parts of Lake District. Overall out stay was very comfortable, our room was excellent, and Carol and Dave were great hosts.

    Chit2017-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • Quiet location. Superb views of the Duddon estuary and the hills beyond.

    Jan2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Horama House is a wonderful place to stay! We loved the view from our room and the weather was perfect for a walk at the sea. Everything was clean and we appreciate the opportunity to have breakfast in the "breakfastroom". There they also put a hole bunch of cards and guides of the area of Lake District - perfect for some walks. Everyday fresh fruits and orange juice in the fridge has made the breakfast complete. We really enjoyed the chats with Carol and David The check-in and the communication with Stuart was easy. Horama House is a beautiful little place to stay!

    Lukas2017-04-04T00:00:00Z
  • Carol and her husband are great hosts. We felt very much at home at their beautiful, modern and very clean house with a stunning view. While the village itself isn't worth writing home about, Carol's place certainly is. Many thanks for having us!

3 St Lukes, a very spacious, comfortable terraced property, nestled literally on the edge of the sea in Haverigg, on the western coast of Cumbria. Once arrived, guests can be forgiven for feeling like they are in the middle of tranquil countryside. Lovely garden areas, private parking, a very peaceful environment, and Haverigg Beach just a five minute walk away. Golden sands, a beach cafe, and lovely walks round the sea wall. Great for couples, families and pets, lots of room for the cost.
I think the fact you can stroll down to the beach and be on the dunes in 5 minutes is a unique aspect of this holiday home. It is also a very large old terraced, and so a lot of space is available for couples and families and dogs to all spend quality time together with plenty of room to stretch out and relax.
Haverigg is a small seaside village really with a main street, and 3 St Lukes is situated off this main street. The main street is comprised of terraced properties and pubs and businesses, so you walk past a couple of good pubs and a very good fish and chip shop on the way to the beach. There is also a good beach cafe at Haverigg beach itself.

Underhill is a self contained flat, situated in the western Lake District. We are situated on the edge of the national park. The Duddon Estuary with its SSI status is just a short walk from the flat.
The flat has one bedroom with double bed and en-suite facilities bath /shower. Kitchen with cooking facilities and fridge / freezer. Dining area and lounge. There is a balcony with garden furniture.
We have long golden beaches with sand dunes, situated some 2 miles away. There are the heavy horses, which do local rides from 1 hour, up to a whole days ride. The central lakes are about half an hours drive away. We have the Beggars Theatre which hosts some good entertainment, which is subsidised by the local arts council. If you would like to eat out before hand, just inform the local Italian restaurant, they will make sure you make the theatre in time. If you would like to try real free range eggs, our free range hens usually oblige. We even have a milk lady, who delivers milk in bottles. The green top is especially rich and creamy.
  • A very comfortable, impeccably clean and homely flat set within a scenic location. Yvonne was the hostess with the mostess and I look forward to going back soon.

  • I can not recommend this rental enough. Derek and Tracey were amazing hosts. They greeted us so kindly and gladly let us check in when we arrived, earlier than the expected check in time. They even provided us a ride to the local beer fest and provided us with so much useful information on the area. The house is absolutely gorgeous. The pictures do not do it justice. It was extremely clean. Tracy even set out extra towels for our dog. The location is wonderful for exploring the area. The house sits in a quiet area, along a stream with sheep right outside the bedroom window. I would highly recommend this rental. You will not be disappointed.

Just 5 minutes form the local pub with excellent real ales, and lovely walks from the doorstep. The hosts were wonderful, and made the place look so homely for our arrival.. fire was lit, Christmas tree lights on and a freshly baked carrot cake and Christmas crackers left out on the table. Wish we could have spent longer there and would love to go back :) Book it book it book it! You 100% won't be disappointed!

There were 6 of us varying in age and there was something for everybody, just perfect! The stream running alongside the house was the icing on the cake. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I could not stop looking at the country side. So very relaxing and the open fire was wonderful to come home to after walking either along the beach or trekking the hills.

  • A wonderful visit to a lovely spacious, well equipped cottage! I can't speak more highly of Lorraine's accommodation, it is in a beautiful spot with Rosie the donkey there to greet us, lovely big rooms and good bathrooms. Perfect for a group of friends or a big family. Everything was perfect and ready for us when we arrived and Lorraine very generously left us a bottle of wine and biscuits as well! Great location, perfect for journeying to the coast or to nearby lakes for scenic walks. We enjoyed a nice pub dinner at the Miners Inn which was nearby too.

  • Thank you Lorraine for the warm welcome and for the useful local information. This is a charming country house in a beautiful part of the world. It is a fantastic base for day trips into the Lakes District. The house is spacious and is perfect for a group of friends, with large sleeping quarters (comfortable beds), multiple bathrooms, a large kitchen and dining area and two cosy living rooms (with a movie collection and a fireplace). The property is located 5 minutes drive to Millom village which has a large supermarket, pub and other shops. Rosie the donkey is a gorgeous host as well.

This cosy cottage is situated in a quiet village called Silecroft on the fridge of the Lake District national park. We are in walking distance of a beautiful sandy beach, the local golf course and riding centre. Also the Miners Arms pub is a stones throw away, perfect for a meal after a long day out.
Our Cottage is in the middle of a small terrace on the village main street. Decorated with modern furniture and fixtures but still with the traditional Lakeland features such as slate floors in the down stairs living areas and a wood burning stove. The fitted kitchen has everything you need for a comfortable stay including a microwave, dishwasher and washing machine. The bathroom is down stairs and has a shower unit. (no bath) We do not currently have internet access. Tesco and Asda home delivery service is available in this area.
Silecroft is a friendly small rural community. Our closer town with all the conveniences you would require is Millom approx 15 minute drive away.
  • This is a great spot for a quiet get away. There is a local pub 2 doors away that serves good food. The cottage itself is very well finished and very clean and comfortable. No wifi as stated in the description, and no mobile data unless you or on EE and you'll get 4G. The beach is about 1 mile from the cottage, and is lovely. There is a small coffee shop there too. If you are looking for any shops or a selection of pubs/cafes then you'll need to drive or take the train from the village as it is pretty rural.

  • Heather’s house was really nice, clean and comfortable, and it had everything we needed to enjoy a long weekend. It’s well located to travel around the Park and the pub next door is really nice too.

    Kumayl2017-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cosy cottage in beautiful surroundings with everything I could possibly need. Heather made sure there was a OS map in the cottage when I enquired about this a few days prior to my trip. There was even a lovely big fruit bowl, chocolate biscuits and milk waiting for me! The cottage is perfectly positioned for exploring the coast, Coniston, Langdale and Windermere but the area around Silecroft is also very beautiful with some lovely walks.

    Rachel2017-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • A beautifully presented cottage, which lives up to its cosy namesake. Heather did everything and more to make us feel welcome and at home. It is also next door to a cosy pub. We had a lovely stay, and would definitely stay again.

    Emma2017-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderfully cosy, felt like home. Very clean and tidy! No criticisms!!

    Montague2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Heathers place is great, located next door to the Miners Arms, where I regularly ate/drank, and only a walk (or a VERY short drive) to the beautiful Silecroft beach. Millom is only a few miles away for the Tesco grocery shopping. The cottage is lovely, it had everything myself and my dogs needed for our stay - wellequipped kitchen, a lovely wood burner, and even biscuits, milk, tea and coffee already there on arrival! Perfect after a long drive :-) We will visit again :)

    Lisa2017-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay, lovely house. Ideal for walking, lovely quiet beaches. 30 minute drive to Wasdale for the lake or Scafell, or 30 minute drive to Coniston and the central lakes. The Miners pub In the village Is good value for money, good food and a friendly welcome. Lovely quiet part of the Lake District.

Disponibles, sympathiques et de bon conseil, ce sont les plus grandes qualités d'un hôte airbnb et Kevin les possède toutes. • Kevin, Linda and Ruby the dog were amazing hosts!! We felt so comfortable in their presence and they truly went all out to ensure we were happy. They even planned a gorgeous Saturday out for us hiking and exploring. The room was pleasant with a big comfy bed and right next to the bathroom. Any tips about things to do and places to go Kevin and Linda will know. Thank you guys so much for an amazing experience of the Lake District.

  • Kevin made me feel very welcome in his lovely home. A superb stay, thanks to a comfy bed, yummy homemade jam breakfasts, and great company! And of course the location is unbelievable... Thoroughly recommend.

    James2014-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Really nice place - we only stayed one evening but felt at home. Got in and relaxed after a long day, Kev and Linda were really helpful and had a good night's sleep. Would definitely recommend staying here if you're in the area.

    Liz2014-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • I've been welcomed by Linda and her dog, Ruby and have a nice chat. Later on I've met Kevin and they are both a nice couple. The room is comfy and the house located in quiet area, a stone's throw from the beach. I've been staying only one night for a business trip in Ulverston but recommended to whoever to visit this part of the Lake District. Don't miss Manjushri Kadampa Meditation Centre, a Buddhist temple. It's worth a visit!

    Nik2015-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Kevin and Linda were very welcoming and easy going. They had a day trip for the next day and trusted us with the key of their house. The location is good in the countryside. Ruby the dog is a fun loving, and well educated dog. Thank you for letting us stay.

    Derek2015-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Kevin received us with the warmest of welcome when we arrived in the evening. He helped us with our baggage and got us oriented quickly. The room is very cosy and homely with coffee and tea within reach in the comfort of the room. Kevin and Linda's hospitality was complimented by the friendliness of their dog Ruby. Breakfast is provided, and their homemade jams are so delicious. Kevin recommended a few good local restaurants and takeaways and they are really good! Would definitely go back when we are in Lake District.

Our bungalow, Oban, is in a great location on the edge of the Lake District. We are just five minutes from the beach with views up the Duddon Estuary with the glorious backdrop of the Cumbrian Fells. It is ideal for families who enjoy the outdoor life as there are so many walks just locally or in the Lakes. Your pets are very welcome. The village of Ireleth is quiet but very friendly and there are shops and take aways nearby in Askam.
The bungalow is set up to ensure everything is easy to find and use. We have been described as "a home from home". There is a manual in the living room with all the information you will need. We keep a well-stocked pantry to get you started with cooking. There is plenty of space for parking and for your kids and dogs to play. We hope you enjoy sitting outside at the big table and watching the sunsets.
Ireleth has a good location with the beach just minutes away for walks and picnics. The Lake District is on our doorstep and you can reach Coniston or Windermere in 30 minutes. There are plenty of cafes, restaurants and pubs in nearby Ulverston. It has a small market on Thursdays.
  • This is a fantastic house to stay in. It is immaculate, the cleanest airbnb we have ever stayed in. There are so many useful touches, some which were relevant to us were children's books, high chair, good cot bed, and some dog towels. The breakfast provided was so fantastic and meant we were all ready to go on our first morning without having to stock up first. Karen was a superb host, generous with her knowledge and prompt with her replies. Thank you for a great stay Karen; you provided a true home away from home experience!

    Jessica2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Karen is a great host and her place is very cosy, very spacious, super clean and comfortable and has everything you may need, including extras like coffee, milk, bread, cereals etc. Would highly recommended and hope to be back one day.

  • A comfortable place to stay in. Karen & Peter were friendly and offered us all the help for the tourist spots and other amenities nearby. The directions they had given us to reach the place helped quite a lot. Thanks Karen for making our stay a pleasant experience.

    Pankaj2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time in Karen's bungalow. It was clean, very comfortable and recently renovated. We loved the spacious living room with the fireplace and lots of sitting space as well as the board games. The kitchen was also very well equipped. Karen waited up for us when we arrived from London late in the night to make sure we find the place all right. The house is half an hour drive from the lakes, and conveniently located in a town with shops nearby. It is an excellent value for the price and we can definitely recommend it to families and groups of friends. Thank you!

    Kamila2017-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • If every host on AirBNB were like Karen then you'd never, ever look at another website. Karen took my three children to see her horses. They absolutely loved it! Almost as much as I did! The property is clean, spacious and has a brilliant power shower (always pushes me to 5 stars)! My kids loved running around both indoor and outdoors! The kitchen was well stocked and Karen left out a host of treats for us - thank you! Upon our return to The Lakes we'll be back to this property.

    Michael2017-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • Karen was such an amazing host. She welcomed us with open arms as we arrived late at around 10pm and gave us a tour of the house. She laid out a map of the area and gave us tips as to what to do in our time there. She was a great host and I will be coming again to stay at her place in the near future! Thanks for your awesome hospitality Karen!

  • gîte calme et bien situé pour découvrir la région des lacs .On y échappe aux flots de touristes.Peter et Karen sont charmants !

  • Oban was just the perfect home for us in Ireleth-Askam. The cottage is close to everything that The Lakes District has to offer, along with its own lovely view of the Duddon Estuary and the fells beyond. It is a very well kept home with lots of thoughtful touches, from fresh flowers, to a well-stocked kitchen, and many maps, books, and binders full of ideas for your holiday. We were particularly pleased with the modern bathroom and kitchen fittings, comfy beds, and high level of cleanliness we found at Oban. There were also many local festivities during our November stay. We were able to enjoy the charming Christmas Fair at the Ireleth Community Center, which is just around the corner, and watch all the Bonfire Night and Askam Christmas fireworks from the comfort of this cottage on the hill. Best of all, we were able to attend the wonderful Dickensian Festival in nearby Ulverston the weekend before we left. Truly a lovely visit in a welcoming home away from home.

Though we are out in the Stix The Hollows is easy to find ,guidance notes are always sent prior to guests stay which makes it easier.
  • Before we had even left our own house David was already ensuring that our visit to The Hollows ran smoothly. He emailed us all the directions we would need to find his beautiful home. Upon arriving we were welcome first by some grazing sheep and then by David. He had prepared sandwiches and tea for us which were very welcome after a 6 hour car journey. The room and its surroundings are stunning. The pictures are nice but it's one of those rare places that's even nicer in real life. David is the perfect host and does everything to make your visit comfortable; he provided us with information on local attractions and places to visit around the Lake District, he served a delicious breakfast every morning at whatever time we requested and he replaced any towels that we had used during the day. A very nice place to stay and an easy drive to Lake Windermere and its surrounding towns. We hope to visit again.

    Michael2016-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • David made our stay very enjoyable! We would definitely recommend staying at the Hollows! He provided us with everything we needed for our stay and even took us exploring in the local area showing us the best spots to visit! He really does do everything he can to make you're stay run as smoothly as he can! The room itself is spotless and has a brilliant homey feel and you can tell he has put a lot of effort into making in that way! Thanks David

    Jamie2016-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • David was a tremendous host who made us feel very welcome and made our stay absolutely stress free. Breakfast was always great and David has great knowledge of the local walks and points of interest. I wouldn't hesitate recommending David and we will definitely stay again.

    Jonny2017-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Our host David made us feel very welcome at his establishment. He made dinner reservations for us each night and even drove us to and from the restaurant. He provided us with information on local highlights to visit. The B&B is beautifully appointed and spotlessly clean. We had our own private entrance, huge combined bedroom, dining area and sitting room. The bathroom is magnificent. The B&B is very well situated and it was very easy to find our way around. The view from the verandah leading to the entrance is superb. The breakfast provided each morning, at a time which suited us was well prepared and the ingredients were fresh. David is a very likeable person, easy to talk to and went out of his way to make our stay memorable. If you want to stay anywhere in the Lakes area, try this place out, you won't regret it.

    Roy2016-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful weekend! The Hollows is set in the most picturesque of locations and the accommodation and service is A*. David and Holly could not make you feel anymore at home!

    Harriet2017-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • David made my wife and I feel very welcome at the Hollows - a lovely annexe in a beautiful house, tucked away in the Hill, just outside of the Lake District. It is a large apartment, very clean, complete with tea-making facilities and a huge smart TV. The breakfasts, cooked by David on request (menu and time!), are excellent. The bathroom is huge and there is a really great power shower. What's more, David both recommended and booked restaurants for us during our stay. He is an excellent host, always wanting to help and on hand. This is a great location for a base in the Lake District as it's close to lots of places but really quiet - you have to drive through a paddock to reach the house - and we found our stay very relaxing.

    Thomas2016-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • The Hollows is one of the most charming B&Bs we have ever been to and David is by far the best host we've met. The place is an incredibly charming large studio flat with all you require during a holiday. Everything is of the highest quality. Breakfast is cooked by David and is excellent. It's also made to order and David was happy to accommodate our requests. The surroundings are absolutely gorgeous. The Hollows is located a bit outside the lake district so David also recommended a few day trips in the area as well as several restaurants and cafes in the nearby town. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The Hollows is a superb place for a country getaway and David and his daughter Holly are tremendous hosts. Highly recommended!

    May2016-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • David was the perfect host from start to finish who was always willing to go the extra mile for his guests. From his luxury apartment to his amazing breakfasts, we had a fabulous time in the Lake District and I couldn't recommend the Hollows more highly. Once again thanks David for making our stay so memorable. Best wishes, Liam.

This lovely, individual apartment is on the edge of the English Lake District and overlooks the Duddon Estuary. The two-bedroom, self-contained flat sleeps 4 and provides a comfortable base for exploring this picturesque area. It has underfloor heating, a gas AGA and a wood burner. It is suitable for those with mobility problems because it is on the ground floor with a walk-in shower and is level throughout, With high ceilings and spacious rooms, the flat is elegant and bathed in light.
The flat is on the ground floor of a converted Victorian sandstone and slate-built former bank and is situated in the hamlet of Sand Side in Kirkby-in-Furness, South Cumbria. The flat has been furnished tastefully by its owner, a renowned classical musician, with many of the objects on display that she has collected on her travels. The village comprises several hamlets and stretches from the heather moors to the sea. There is a pub round the corner and another one up the hill. The village also has a shop, a Post Office, prescribing doctor's surgery and a repair garage. The flat is 15 minutes away from the festival town of Ulverston with its weekly market and individual shops and eating places, and is 20 minutes away from beautiful Coniston Water and the English Lake District. The train station is nearby where you can catch a train to Lancaster via Barrow in Furness, or travel the other way up the West coast of Cumbria taking in Ravenglass and its steam trains, right up to the historic city of Carlisle. The flat has use of the lovely terraced garden with views of Black Combe and the Lake District. The area is well-known for walking and is adjacent to the Cumbrian Coastal Way. There are other rooms to let on a separate basis within the house and larger parties should check with the host as to their availability.
  • What a brilliant place to stay! From climbing Old man coniston, Scafell Pike, Seeing Beatrix Potter Hill too farm and queuing for the famous Gingerbread in Grasmere, this was the place to stay! After long trips, coming home to a beautiful place with a gorgeous Aga and so many different flavored teas galore, honestly I did not want to leave. The greyhound inn pub and farmers arms pubs near the location are fantastic and I definitely recommend. We definitely did not want to leave so I do believe other people will have to haggle with us for dates as we are already working round days for our next stay! Gerry is an absolute delight and so informative 24 hours around. Please enjoy the garden as she has made it look stunning! To all future airbnb stayers, we are very jealous!

  • Back to stay once more at this great property, everything was again on point, Gerry is a fantastic host!

    William2017-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent property, everything you could possibly want especially the kitchen it was fantastic having an AGA to cook on.

    Susan2017-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • Really beautiful apartment. Lavishly spacious. Even filled with four people, it'll feel roomy. Self check in is a bonus. Didn't feel like it was lacking for anything really. Kirkby really isn't far from the national park and the Duddon Estuary is very beautiful, I would recommend this place over those inside the park especially for those coming from the south, access is a breeze. Local pub landlord is a real gent, made the overall experience of Kirkby a very friendly and warm one. Go!

    James2017-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time. The property is very spacious, warm, comfortable and homely. We really enjoyed the kitchen, making meals together around the breakfast bar and using the Aga. The only aspect that would improve the experience would be twin beds in the second bedroom as one of our children slept on a blow up mattress on the floor. We would still love to stay again.

    Carole2017-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • The house is amazing, wonderful views. Only 15 min drive into Coniston town where you can climb the amazing Old Man Coniston Mountain, we did it and I'm 51! It took us 2.5 hours up and 1.5 hrs coming down. If you want to do it drive up to the top and park up there, otherwise you will walk another hour before reaching the start of the climb - it's well worth it. What an achievement! All other amazing places within easy driving distances.

This lovely, architect-designed, self contained flat, 15 minutes from Coniston Water, is very spacious with high ceilings and lots of windows making it light and airy. Solid wooden floors and exposed slate and sandstone, coupled with a high spec wet room and underfloor heating throughout, give the flat a luxurious feel. The ensuite bedroom has a Superking size bed. The Annexe is completely self-contained with its own entrance. It is light, airy and comfortable.
Sandside is a quiet hamlet in the village of Kirkby-in Furness. There is a 16 century pub round the corner that is open towards the end of the week and another pub further into the village.
  • Gerry's place is really beautiful and set in a lovely location; no matter the weather it looks beautiful. The place is very clean and spacious, excellent facilities and high spec kitchen which was much appreciated. Gerry was a very friendly and helpful host and we would love to come back to stay again.

Our 300 year old slate built cottage sleeps 6 on the South West coast of Cumbria. Situated in 1 of 3 hamlets & the main village with pubs, play area & a shop. Step out of the door & it's an 8 minute walk to the beach. Look across the estuary to the peaks of Cumbria. Coniston & Windermere are a 20 min drive away.
Our holiday cottage was built in 1752 according to the records. It was a barn in which the shepherds slept in the upstairs loft, with the animals underneath. It is now a full centrally heated holiday cottage with a wood burning stove and all the mod cons! There are 3 bedrooms, 2 with double beds and 1 with twin bunks. We also have a fold down guest bed for anyone who has tagged along unexpectedly!! The bathroom is on the ground floor and sports a huge roll top bath with shower, sink and WC. The kitchen is small but perfectly formed with an electric Aga stove, fridge with small freezer, Belfast sink and butchers block worktop. We also have a microwave oven and toaster. The living and dining area are open plan and have a woodburning stove as the centrepiece. The cottage has freeview digital television, (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Chromecast and free WiFi access. You will need the Chromecast app on your phone or tablet to access Netflix etc. It is free to download!
It is a beautiful, peaceful spot in that corner of the Lake District. It is the calm after the hustle and bustle of Ambleside and Bowness, which are 25-30 minutes away, subject to traffic. The nearby town of Ulverston has an indoor market and independent shops, cafes & eateries. The sun is on the front patio of the cottage in a morning and in the evening you could have a bbq at the rear of the property near the kitchen. Stroll down to the estuary in the evening to watch the sunset over the Irish sea and 'Black Combe' peak. In winter it is very quiet & get very well wrapped up as snow is often on the menu!!
  • Good stay.

  • This is a beautiful cottage in a stunning part of the world- convenient for long walks and beautiful train journeys further afield. The locals were very helpful and provided great advice for our treks (and great company down the pub!) The cottage is warm and welcoming and is much more spacious than the pictures suggest. The cottage had everything we needed for a wonderful weekend away. Thanks, Jane.

  • We had an excellent weekend in "The Cottage". It was just as described & easy to find. The cottage itself was prefect & we instantly felt at home. The local village was lovely & we were made to feel very welcome at The Ship 1691. All in all a top weekend. We were very sad to leave x

  • Jane was a wonderful host-she made the key exchange very easy for us and provided great instructions and directions. This was a perfect base for 4 of us to stay and explore the Lake District! We were fortunate to have beautiful weather and enjoyed our first trip to this area immensely. The cottage was cozy and quiet-we weren't there much but it was a perfect home to return to after long days!

    Maddy2016-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • Jane was an excellent host and the information and details of how to find the property and arrival instructions were spot on and very helpful. The listing was accurate and the surrounding area was quiet, as described, and ideal for a quiet break amidst some beautiful scenery and countryside. The cottage was extremely clean, cosy and homely and full of character. We would use the cottage again as my family and I (including our dog) enjoyed our surroundings and the proximity to the Lake District walks and some inviting country pubs.

  • Penny's house is in a peaceful location in an often overlooked corner of the Lake District. It has a river at the end of the garden and several excellent pubs within a couple of miles. Each morning we were presented with a vast array of breakfast options. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a stay here.

    Sam2017-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful house in a pretty location next to a bubbling stream. Breakfast was superb and Penny was an amazing host! Very kind and helpful with everything. She went the extra mile to assist us. The bathroom was enormous with a good shower and large bath. Beds were comfy and house was warm. Excellent!

  • Wonderful home in a beautiful part of the world. Host is incredibly welcoming and more than willing to make things perfect, including suggesting places to eat and supplying extras for breakfast... Really cannot recommend this host and house highly enough...

    Mike2017-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • Warm, thoughtful and flexible, Penny could not have done more to make us feel at home and well informed. A wonderful lovely place for an 8 person family reunion. Nothing was too much trouble. We could not recommend it highly enough.

    Colin2016-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • The stay was highly enjoyable, the rooms where clean and comfortable. The breakfast was of a very high quality and we where given a large choice. Before we came to stay the host was in regular contact dealing with any queries and was most helpful.

    Stephen2016-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Three day stay at Pennys cottage have exceeded our expectations by far! Penny was very welcoming, always there to provide everything we needed. Lovely area, loads to do and see, house looks and feels like home, even better. Spacious rooms, comfortable beds, and huge bathroom if you want to relax after long mountain walks.. Home cooked tasty breakfast followed by freshly picked blackberry and apple crumble, which Penny baked for us in the evening. Yummy.. :) She took us to local Tesco to get some food and kindly gave us use of her gas BBQ, which we used in the evenings. Extremely Highly recommended, Penny is the top host and we were so lucky to get to know her and have stayed at her house! Would definitely come back. Million thanks to Penny for unforgettable holidays in Lake District!

  • This was an exquisite gem of a find, and the old 17th century building was incredible. All the nooks and crannies, creaking floorboards and wonky floors, just added to its charm. The surrounding area was picturesque, and so peaceful...with the gorgeous sound of the stream in the background. Penny was a superb host, catered for all our needs, a gorgeous breakfast to wake up to, and the robes, were a wonderful added touch...loved staying there, have already recommended to friends, and would definitely stay again, but for much longer next time. Totally off the beaten track, away from (URL HIDDEN) was just what we needed...Thank you Penny xxx

Coalgate Cottage is at the end of a single track tarmac farm lane in a small hamlet of 4 homes, and situated on the outskirts of Broughton in Furness enjoying stunning views of Coniston, Black Coomb and the Duddon Estuary. It is straight out of the gate and onto the Cumbrian Coastal Path, and a lovely walk into Broughton or Foxfield with their award winning shops and pubs.
Well behaved dogs are welcome, we would appreciate that dogs toilet is cleaned up, and that they are not left unattended, a cage(s) can be available on request.
We would hope our guests would respect the neighbours and keep noise to a minimum after 10pm
  • A lovely cottage in a beautiful location, stayed here for a weekend with my family and parents, the property was perfect for us. Plenty of room for everyone (including the dogs!) and great amenities. Communication with Julie was easy with great directions and we would recommend this property.

The shepherds huts are close to the Lake District National Park with great views of the Foxfield mosses- site of special scientific interest. The shepherds hut is in a tranquil setting surrounded by fields. In addition to this hut we also have a second shepherds hut called 'Swallow' which is available for joint bookings. The shower, Toilet and kitchen area are in the conservatory near the hut. the hut its self doesn't have electricity, we provide a selection of solar lights and candles.
The Shepherds Huts are hand crafted by ourselves. Inside the hut, it has one double bed (we provide bedding and towels), a wood burner and filtered water tap as well as a kettle so you can make a rustic brew on the wood burner. There is a selection of herbal teas and normal tea in the hut as well as biscuits there is shelf space in the hut for you to store your clothes and personal possessions. This hut has its own private compost toilet near the hut itself. The kitchen and flushing toilet facilities are near to the hut in the conservatory which is connected to the main house. The SELF CATERING kitchen area has a small hob oven, fridge, and tea and coffee making facilities. we also provide crockery and cutlery as well as basic cooking utensils and pans. The kitchen area also has a couple of plug sockets which can be used to re-charge electric devices. The conservatory area is shared with one additional shepherds hut, although there are individual fridges and work top hob/ovens for each hut.
  • Sarah was really friendly and welcoming. The Shepherds Hut was a little tricky to find off the postcode so make sure you use the directions on the website. Amazon was a perfect little hideaway, we particularly loved the wood burner, and although it was rather windy we were warm and snug. I would highly recommend The Shepherds hut for a romantic getaway for two!

    Samantha2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • The weather may have been wild, wet and windy but the Hut was cosy and the fire creates lots of warmth. This is our second stay here and we just can't fault it. If you're up for something a little different, glamping if you want to call it that then this is a great place to give it a try. Sarah is a helpful host and makes you feel at ease and very welcome.

    Carl2017-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful little hideaway perfect for those times when you just need to get away from everything. Sarah has clearly put a lot of thought into every detail and as always it’s the tiny little details that make a stay that much more enjoyable. The huts are very well built and insulated and with the log burners, keeping warm on those frosty mornings simply isn’t an issue.

    Ed2017-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • We went for a couples weekend birthday getaway and we loved it...it was an amazing weekend!

    Helen2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • The location is ideal, host very welcoming, Shepherd Huts are very cosy and comfortable and the wood burners are a great addition! Every details little detail has been thought of

    Tom2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy, cute and surrounded by lovely views. Even nicer (and more spacious) than it looked in pictures. We loved our stay here and it was well placed for us to go off on day trips across the Lake District. We enjoyed using the log burner inside and lighting the fire pit outside. Some lovely touches in the shepherds hut - including loads of lovely candles, nice country decor and a tub of custard creams :-). Good amounts of storage for a little place and good facilities in the house (nice shower! Toilet, microwave, job and fridge).

    kat2017-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah and her family are absolutely fantastic hosts, the shepherds huts are beautiful and clean, and the surrounding landscape is stunning. We stayed in hut 'Amazon' for 2 nights and hugely enjoyed the relaxed and tranquil environment - best sleep we've had in a very long time! As long as you have a car, the location is good for accessing much of the rest of the lake district. We spent some time in Derwent, Coniston and Windermere, but the western part of the lakes are closeby too. Thanks very much Sarah - we'll be back!

    Bex2017-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cabin in a great location to explore the Lakes. The surrounding area is amazing! Sarah was a great host, very welcoming and helped us out with any problems we had. She has created a beautiful atmosphere which made us enjoy our stay even more. Would highly recommend staying here, the facilities were great too! and if you're lucky you'll get to meet George the dog!

My place is close to woodland and nature, and yet local amenities and excellent pubs and restaurants are only a mile away . You’ll love my place because of the ambiance, the peacefulness, the outdoors space, the neighbourhood, the comfy beds, the airiness and light, the relaxation, the sanctuary. My place is good for couples, families (with kids), big groups, and furry friends (pets).
Slapestones, a large, imposing and newly refurbished holiday home, is easily accessible from the main road from Broughton in Furness and Millom at Thwaites, and yet on arrival you will feel like the rest of the world has gone away. A large well appointed property, surrounded by gardens to three sides, and with a private wooded area to the rear of the property. Slapestone's location offers literally the best of both worlds - a complete rural idyll and yet situated very close to local amenities.
A very quiet and peaceful neighbourhood, very few neighbours, and although the road out is very close by, the property feels secluded surrounded as it is by gardens and the wooded area to the rear effectively blocking noise from beyond. You are only a short distance away from several good eating places and coffee shops and tea rooms, and only an hour from the central Lakes, and yet it is very peaceful and tranquil over on the western side of the Lake District.
  • Amanda's place is well equipped with cooking utensils, the place is clean and spacious. Enough to accommodate our group of 7. Highly recommended.

    Bernard2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Amanda was a great host. The location is set away from a small village with a few nice pubs and shops. The house its self was well presented with all amenities, nothing negative to say. Would certainly recommend the place, lovely retreat to spend with kids and loved ones. Note, the place is a little tricky find as postcode takes you to ash house which is directly across the road from slapestones.

    trisha2016-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time staying in Amanda's house. The house has very spacious rooms and is absolutely immaculate. Lovely garden and patio to have BBQ and food outside. There is a grocery store in a 10 min drive distance. Plenty of long and short walks around (famous The Old Man of Coniston walk is within 20-25 min drive from the house). Overall I can only highly speak about our stay in Amanda's house. Thank you.

  • The cottage is in a lovely location, only a short drive away from the pubs/shops in Broughton. We stayed there as 8 adults and found it to be spacious and very well equipped, with a nice garden area at the back. Amanda was a very helpful host, suggesting nearby pubs and walks/other tourist attractions. I would definitely recommended it to anyone looking for a rural retreat!

    Hannah2016-07-25T00:00:00Z

  • For a relaxed stay, close to the likes of Coniston and Windermere, this accommodation ticks many boxes. While not necessarily 'upmarket' in terms of furnishings or decor, it is a comfortable and sizeable house where you can stay with a large group, comfortably. The nearby village of Broughton has many nice pubs and the walk through the grounds of Broughton Hall is spectacular.

  • As this was our first Airbnb experience we were apprehensive to find out how everything worked. However Carole-Ann was the perfect host and we felt settled straight away. We couldn't believe how beautiful the cottage was when we arrived, and we've already recommended it highly to friends and family. After spending a day exploring the lakes, all we spoke of was making our way back to the cottage and having a relaxing evening in. It's the perfect cosy retreat, and we would definetly come back again. Thank you so much Carole-Ann.

  • Great cottage lovely old features with a modern twist. The bathroom and kitchen have been renovated and are brilliant. The cottage is in a quiet village with a pub nearby but also commutable to all popular tourist areas like Windermere and Coniston. Fully recommend this cottage. Also little extras like board games in the cottage all tourism leaflets and a breakfeast box was a nice touch

  • The moment we stepped into the cottage we loved it - set in a lovely little location not too far from Ambleside and Coniston. The cottage makes you feel at home instantly. We throughly enjoyed our stay and hopefully will be back! The dog loved the cottage too and it was a added bonus she was allowed to stay - accommodation of such good standard and reasonable rates that allow dogs are few and far between.

  • A cute, cozy little Cumbrian cottage that has been renovated with love by Carol-Anne (we thought it was much better than the photos make out!). Carol-Anne did everything to make our stay easy and enjoyable. Make sure you pop up to the Blacksmith's Arms!

    Andrew2017-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • This place is gorgeous. A really nice cosy place that is big enough and comfy enough for 2 people. The kitchen is big and very well kitted out. The bedroom is a good size and has a great 'cottage' feel. The bathroom is modern and beautiful, especially if you like a bath, as the tub is great but if you like a shower it is a little awkward as you have to hold it! Other than though, we absolutely loved the place and would highly recommend it. Carol-Anne is lovely and also helpful.

Cosy room available in my lovely little house in the middle of the popular village of Broughton in Furness. I live here most of the time but I work long hours so you would have the place to yourself a lot of the time, particularly during the week. There are tea and coffee making facilities in your room so you don't have to wander far to make a brew.
Guests are welcome to use the fully equipped kitchen and bathroom. There are tea and coffee making facilities in your room, as well as a television with access to Netflix and Amazon Prime. Towels can be provided, and guests can make use of picnic blankets for when the sun is shining (or umbrellas for when it isn't!)
Friendly and safe neighbourhood, with a whole host of local pubs and places to eat. Broughton is a lovely little village with plenty of walking to be done. Coniston and Ulverston are 15-20 mins drive away, and Barrow in Furness is approx 25 mins drive away. Broughton is on the edge of The Lake District and is surrounded by mountains, fields and nature. It is also not far from several beaches!
  • Katie let us stay in her gorgeous 2 bedroom house. We only rented the bedroom, but she allowed us free reign of the house, and was not staying at the time. Lots of tourist information and leaflets given, along with complementary tea/coffee/snacks Parking space provided Location is in a small village on the edge of the Lake District, with most places accessible within a half an hours drive.

    Oliver2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely room in very nice house. Village itself is very quiet and friendly. Perfect for those looking to get away from the crowds and a great base for hiking and sightseeing. Katie was a great host and everything from check in to check out was excellent.

    Shaun2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Katie was the perfect host, super easy going & great to talk to. Her unit was beautifully clean & within easy walking distance to the centre of the village. There are two pubs that serve food in the village but you need to book. Not impressed with the staff attitude at the Old Kings Head so opted for the Black Cock Inn which offered great food & service. Broughton in Furness is at the southern end of the Lakes with direct access to the northern attractions & I would highly recommend it to anyone considering a visit.

  • Just back from a fantastic stay in this lovely little room. Katie was an exceptional host! Upon arrival there were towels, a dog treat, dog shampoo for my dog and a hamper with food essentials for my stay. Nothing was too much trouble and I couldn't help but feel welcomed and that Katie had gone above and beyond to make my stay as enjoyable as possible. The location of the property is in a lovely little village, with most places accessible within approximately 30 minutes drive. • Our stay at Broughton in Furness was fantastic. Jennifer and Ben absolutely made their bests: gave us plenty of good advices about the places to visit, always welcomed us warm and friendly in the evenings, everything was perfect, honestly. We recommend the place everyone, who want to have a calm and pleasant stay at the Lake District.

    Judit2017-06-19T00:00:00Z
  • I had a lovely time here and Jennifer was such a great host. Very knowledgeable about the area which was beautiful. Made me feel very welcome. Would definitely recommend!

    Lorna2017-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • Jennifer's place is lovely, beautifully clean and comfortable. She and Ben are most thoughtful and welcoming hosts, all the details you need to know about the place, location etc are clearly communicated in the listing details. I have no hesitation in highly recommending the property and them as hosts. The location is also perfect if you are cycling the Lakes and Dales Loop (as I was), being only half a mile off the route and with secure cycle storage too.

    Linda2017-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely and cosy place to stay, separate to the main house so you have your privacy but the hosts are so nice and always around for anything you need! In the perfect location to visit the seaside, the lakes and the fells.

    Suzy2017-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • Jennifer is more than a super host! She was incredibly helpful, friendly and fantastically welcoming. We stayed with 2 dogs and she made it really easy.

    Gemma2017-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful scenic spot and good value for money. Very dog friendly and a generous and helpful host. Really enjoyed our stay.

    Sean2017-04-11T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely accommodation in a farm house close to Broughton-in-Furness. Perfect base for exploring the Lakes and cosy to return to after a long day of walking. Staying with Jennifer and her partner was like staying with friends and they got the balance just right between being welcoming but giving us our own space. The big selling point for us was how dog-friendly both Jennifer and the accommodation was set up to be for our extremely excited pet! We were also very grateful of a continental style breakfast prior to a big day walking. I would definitely recommend that others stay here and we hope to be back at some point in the future.

  • My family and I had a wonderful stay in sunset cottage. The cottage is set high up on a hill offering gorgeous views, and the cottage itself was very clean, comfortable and definitely spacious enough for the 5 adults in our party. I had great communication with Janet prior to our stay, which made finding the cottage and checking in very easy! Lovely place in a tranquil setting.

    Anna2015-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely rustic cottage. Amazing views. Friendly welcome.

    Chris2016-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Sunset Cottage is a lovely bnb in a beautiful location and I couldn't really fault our stay there. Coffee, tea, sugar, cling film, foil and loo rolls provided which came greatly in handy for our short stay. Towels were included. Though we didn't use it the complimentary fire wood is a great idea.

    Julietta2015-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay in Janet's cottage. The cottage is comfortable and has a nice feel to it. The location is secluded, but it is easy to get to public transport or go to places by car. Communication with Janet was great and she always replied very quickly. We would recommend this place.

    Lieke2017-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very enjoyable, relaxing stay at Janet and Peter's cottage. The home had all we needed, was very nicely presented, and in a lovely quiet location. We enjoyed visiting nearby Ulverston and did several walks on the hills behind the cottage, and of course the Lakes Districit was just up the road. 100% happy. Thank you. Alan and Rose

    Alan2015-06-12T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay in this lovely cottage. We were well placed for golf every day with some great courses within 30 minutes. The cottage had everything we needed and was very comfortable.

    Andrew2015-12-19T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely beautiful cottage, really clean and tidy, well stocked with everything you could need and the views are spectacular! Janet was lovely and very kindly made sure we had everything we needed. It is in a very secluded location with only a few other houses nearby, very peaceful and private. Within good driving reach of the main touristy things, Windermere, Conniston etc. Beach as Askam is less busy and lovely too. Great hill walking on the doorstep as well. Thanks for a thoroughly enjoyable and comfortable stay :)

Broadgate is a traditional Georgian house, built in 1819 with stunning views across the Duddon Estuary. The fine proportions and subtle beauty of the house and gardens compliment the idyllic rural setting.
  • Great host. She was very accommodative and helpful with some last minute changes. We reached at a very odd time past 11 pm and she came to the main road to show us the way. She was very meticulous in arranging breakfast in the morning and took care of each individual preferences in the group which is not easy. It's amazing how she manages all by herself. This place is very special and should be in a league of its own for the quality of experience it offers which cannot be conveyed in words

  • This is a unique accommodation in the lake district. The house is beautifully situated and the rooms feel very historic. It almost feels like you're in a museum because of all the nice objects in the rooms and hallways. Diana makes you feel like home and took very good care of us and informed us about good places to eat. We highly recommend!

    Daniel2017-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoy the stay in Diana's country house. It's unbelievable she manages so well with the gardens and the whole house. We're impressed by the authentic feeling of the aged house also. Diana gets everything ready even to precisely forecast the weather :) We love the breakfast in the cosy sunny morning surrounded brilliant garden view. Hope to come back again.

    MINGWEI2017-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed over with Diana for 4 nights and everyday was wonderful. She isn't very punctual in serving breakfast and the every time I can eat back the house and room was in emmaculate condition. Her house is full of beautiful Artifacts and antique furtniture which adds so much to the living and I had a massively double room to myself with a beautiful view . I recommend thsi accommodation whether leisure or business trip . 10 on 10 for diana as a host .

    Aditi2017-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Fabulous location with great views to the south. Warm welcome. Very comfortable with attention to details. Very good value.

    Rob2017-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Diana's place is truly amazing. The setting is incredible, with views across to the coast. Diana is an exceptional host, making us feel like part of the family before we'd even arrived (she phoned to ask if we happened to be attending the same wedding as another guest couple and if we wanted to share a taxi!). As it turned out, we were attending the same wedding but hadn't met before, but we had such a good time on our short stay that we have made some new friends in the process! The house is truly astonishing, it feels like you have got a rare chance to stay in a perfectly preserved stately home where someone has let you past the red ropes and you can actually sleep in the beds and sit in the chairs. So many period features and fascinating things to look at all wrapped up in a stunning building, beautiful gardens and home to a truly inspirational Lady. Thank-you Diana, if we ever get an excuse to visit the area again we will be in touch straight away!

    Richard2017-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • Diana's home is absolutely beautiful and she has to be the loveliest host I have ever met. She is so kind and helpful and cooked me an incredible three course dinner on arrival that I hadn't booked. I'd had an awfully stressful afternoon and Diana made me feel so much better. Bed turned down, electric blanket on, the roll top bath, the decor, the cosy lounge with log burner, the gardens, the breakfast, traditional luxury. everything simply perfect. Thank you so much Di x

Our home ' Pebble cottage' is located in the Lake District national park's beautiful quiet village of Silecroft where the mountains and the sea are on the door step. With three wainwright fells a stroll away, close to Muncaster Castle, ravenglass railway and voted Britain's greatest view 'wasdale screes'
Pebble Cottage is in the middle of four terraced houses with a character country pub for food and drink, two minutes stroll away (and we have tried it). The cottage is tastefully decorated in a mix of vintage and modern furniture with a local slate real open fire in the living room. The fitted kitchen has everything you need to enjoy a home from home stay ( including a microwave). The bathroom has a bath with over the bath shower. There are two seperate toilet rooms. If you want to be off grid then this is for you, we have no TV or Internet access and the phone signal is hit or miss. There is a small TV with inbuilt DVD capability with a handful of DVDs. We do not allow pets. With or without a car you can really embrace the country life with walks straight from the door either along the Cumbrian Coastal Path or to the top of Black Coombe. Silecroft beach is 10 mins stroll down the road with beautiful views. Tesco and Asda home delivery service is available.
  • Our stay at Pebble Cottage was ideal. The property is located on a quiet street in a lovely little village. Locals and tourists were all very friendly. The pebble beach is picture perfect and immaculately clean. It's a beautiful spot to relax in and ignore your hectic and busy life. Forced to switch off from internet and emails we had a completely relaxing break while enjoying all the board games in the cottage - a lovely touch Andy! The VERY local pub was welcoming and the food was really, really good. I would love to come back to Pebble Cottage for another relaxing visit. Thank you Andy!

    Lisa2016-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great and comfortable stay in Andy's cottage. The location is perfect, in a quiet (hardly any tourists!) and beautiful part of the Lake District with a great pub and train station nearby and at a short (10 min.) walking distance from the coast. The cottage is spacious for two people, only the double bed was a bit smaller than we are used to. The kitchen is very tidy and well equipped for cooking a meal (the only thing we missed was some washing up liquid). There is also a washing machine which is very handy. No shops nearby but there is a supermarket in Milom which is just a few miles away. Since we were on a walking holiday we greatly appreciated the fact that there was so much information provided in the cottage: there were guide books and maps of the whole Lake District and of the immediate environment with information, e.g. regarding distance and duration for various walking tracks, tips for places to eat or drink on the way, etc. This was really very useful! We had a great stay at the cottage and would definitely recommend it if you're looking for a few days of peace and quietness and for great walking tracks departing from your doorstep.

  • I booked a surprise weekend away at Andys for my brothers 30th for himself and his wife. They really enjoyed their stayed and got some good weather in. They spent time at lake Windermere (1hr drive away-worth the journey) with lovely scenic routes on the way. Andy and his wife we're very accommodating. I asked them for suggestions of where to go from a locals perspective and they were very quick to get back to me with a list of suggestions. If you are from the city I would suggest bring dvds if you want a night in as the network signal for phones, internet and tv is very weak. But if you are after a get away then perfect. Fresh air, scenery and peace and quiet. Thank you Andy and family for looking after my brother and wife

    Dawn2015-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Andy and Toni were wonderful! Throughout the experience they demonstrated exceptional levels of communication. They responded to my booking request promptly and contacted me with further details about how to proceed; and included instructions on arrival, what to expect and offered their support and contact details if we had any issues (which we didn't!) The cottage is gorgeous in a very tiny village near the sea, with a small pub and train station. Andy and Toni were also really kind to leave us a couple of snacks for our arrival as well as a lamp on inside since we were arriving quite late. Also, their booklet and leaflets in the lounge prove very useful and was a great touch to the whole experience. Would definitely recommend this and would like to say thanks again to Andy and Toni for their hospitality.

  • Stayed for 2 nights in late August. Amazing views and scenery. The cottage is quaint and lovely. Very neat and clean. The host Andy was very helpful with tips and ideas of what to see and do in the area.

    Ludwig2017-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Pebble Cottage provided excellent accommodation in a superb location. Any and Toni were great communicators providing detailed instructions and advice. The cottage was clean, comfortable and very well provisioned with maps, books, guides .... Everything that could be wanted! The Lakes District is a magnificent area. The walks are outstanding ( and the pubs are great as well). Pebble Cottage provided us with the perfect base to explore this beautiful location. We spent five nights at Pebble Cottage and were sorry to leave. I could not recommend this more highly

    Tim2015-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Pebble Cottage is the perfect place for a wonderful stay. Nestled in between the sea and the stunning Lake District mountains, it provides an ideal location. To top it up, Andy and Toni have equipped the cottage with everything you may need for your stay: from maps and compass to help you get around the best places around to a comprehensive guide full of tips and advice to make the most of it, either you may look for an active weekend or a chill out stay. By all means, a wonderful choice if you aim to stay a few days in the Lakes away from the crowds.

    Ivan2016-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • I was able to contact Andy throughout our trip and he was extremely helpful. He contacted me a few days prior to our arrival and gave us all the relevant information needed for a comfortable stay. The description listed was accurate. Pebble Cottage is such a cute and cosy place, it's definitely spacious for 2 people and I thought it was a rather romantic cottage with the candles and hearts. The only downside was that we didn't have any washing up liquid. Our main purpose of the trip was to experience the yearly Perseid Meteor Showers, the location gave us the best opportunity to view the shooting stars particularly with the close proximity to the shore, its open space and low light pollution however, the weather was not on our side as it was cloudy and raining throughout our stay. We made use of the location, it was ideal for driving to the Lake District and other local attractions which made our trip worth while. The neighourhood was quiet but it was exactly what we were after, but in saying that, upon arrival we got lost with our satnav and after stumbling into the local pub, everyone there was extremely friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet, peaceful getaway. Thank you.

Large beautifully appointed detached house with spectacular views of the Duddon Estuary and the Lake District fells. Within walking distance of all local amenities and easy reach of the world famous mountains and lakes. Would suit families or groups
Dog Bank is situated in a small hamlet within walking distance of Broughton which has shops, cafes, three excellent pubs, & a restaurant. The house is very spacious with breath-taking views of the Duddon Estuary and surrounding mountains. The large front garden is on three levels with access to the sands and there are numerous seating areas around the house to enjoy the sun in the morning or the sunsets at night . The bedrooms are large and spacious (one could take an extra single bed and sleep 3 people )two of which are on suite with showers and there is a bathroom with bath and shower. Wooden floors throughout downstairs and an open fire and a wood burning stove for chillier evenings.
Windermere and Coniston Water are about a 30 mins drive. Broughton -in Furness is 5 minutes away by car - has local shops Ulverston is a lovely market town and is 8 miles away - market days on Thursdays and Saturday. Barrow-in-Furness is about a 20 minute drive and has the larger supermarkets.
  • We had a very pleasant holiday and can attest that the house is very welcoming and well furnished. At the southern end of the Lakes, it is within good reach of all the major attractions. Comfortable for a family visit for sure.

    Simon2015-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • The location of the house is perfect for families wanting to enjoy the peace and quiet of the Lake District but also being able to access all the amazing activities that the area has to offer - mountain biking in Grizedale Forest, gorge walking, abseiling down a slate mine, sailing, fell walking, etc etc! Access to the house is over a railway line so you soon become 'best friends' with the operators who man the gates, sheep pass by the front door and the set up at the local pub adds to the quirkiness! The next village on is Broughton which is an easy cycle ride away and it has a couple of cafes and pubs as well as shops for daily provisions. So, even without booking up any specific activities we would have been happy just staying around the house (it is very comfortable and spacious) and doing local cycle rides, walks and even train rides from the house. We had good email contact with Andy the host prior to our stay and were met on arrival by Gill who lives locally and who gave us plenty of information about the area - the options were too much for us to cover in one week so we will definitely go back!
