Case Vacanze a Masham

Appena prenotato a Masham

A former fever hospital, which has also been a rope mill (remains of original wheel are still in place), and a dairy. It's a great place for a gathering with friends or family, close to Masham but with lots of outdoor space. Strictly no loud parties - we have one near neighbour who we don't wish to be disturbed by our AirBnb activity!
The house is spacious and well equipped. It has been a major renovation project and has retained its quirks and character as well as gaining some warmth and comfort! We're not 100% there yet, and are delighted to be using Airbnb funds to keep going with improvements, so thank you for helping us get there! Guests so far have been very complimentary but please don't expect perfection!! It's an interesting and relaxing space to stay in, with the countryside on your doorstep, and Masham a short walk across fields (public footpath - 10/15 minute walk) or an even shorter drive (2/3 mins!) Guests enjoy the large kitchen, with old range cooker (sadly not working yet, but adds to the ambience). We're big cooking fans, so the kitchen is well equipped with most mod cons (big cooker, big fridge and freezer, wine fridge, coffee machine(s), KitchenAid mixer, bread maker, etc etc - let us know if you've got a specific cooking requirement in mind) There are five bedrooms, with an option of a small separate 'studio' which can sometimes be made available if one more bedroom required. The five bedrooms are: 1. Big room, king sized bed, en suite bathroom with bath and shower (can add single z bed here if needed) 2. Double room. With ensuite shower room. Room for travel cot if required, but not for additional single. 3. 'Harry Potter' room (see pics). A bedroom which can be a double or twin, or double plus single to sleep up to three, with ensuite bathroom (bath with shower over) (Note picture of bed not up to date in this room) 4. Double, with pallet-wood feature wall. Room for further single if required, with ensuite bathroom (bath with shower over) 5. Double futon with a single above. Morroccan/Bohemian style decor. This room is not ensuite. Again, room for further z bed in here if required. The Harry Potter and space themed rooms have full murals done by talented local artist Rick Duffield. The house is set in a garden of 1/3 of an acre. The pictures show the front, with seating near a brick built barbecue. The back of the house is a further garden area. It is overlooked from the big bifold doors in the kitchen and lounge so you can cook and keep a check on the kids... Note: We can now hire in a hot tub at a cost of £225 for the weekend. Do let me know if you'd like us to organise this for you. Be aware though, that we do ask for outdoor loudness after 10pm to be kept to an absolute minimum to avoid disturbing the neighbour, so perhaps weigh this up before booking!
Within an easy walk of Masham centre (15-20 mins across fields!), and with a nature reserve literally on our doorstep, visitors have the best of both worlds. We are right on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales and within easy reach of the Yorkshire Moors. Pubs, restaurants, and two breweries (Theakston and Black Sheep) are available in Masham itself. Don’t miss these local independent shops, cafes and businesses… Corks and Cases has the most amazing selection of wine, and will give you a 10% discount if you let them know you are staying here… (It ends up just as cheap but so much better quality than the supermarkets!) The Gallery in Masham is owned and run by our good friend Josie Bezant, and among all manner of lovely take-home gifts, she sells some of our absolute favourite things you’ll see around our house, including the fab porcelain tea lights and vases by Charlotte Morrison., the little wren and dog ornaments. Also the books by her husband Ian Scott Massie, as well as original art and prints. The screen print in our lounge was ‘made’ by our son Jack when he was about 11, with (more than a little!) help from Scott! Josie and Scott also run some of the courses at Artison…. Artison – they run all manner of fantastic artistic and creative courses, where you can learn a new skill from local artists. These would need to be booked in advance – check the website… Veg and butchers shops are all great – much better than the supermarkets! The veg stall on the market is also extremely good. ‘Johnny Baghdad’s Café on the Square’ is our favourite place for a hot drink or really lovely and good value lunches. Bivouac at Druid’s Temple is a really quirky café, and a good place for a short or longer, and very picturesque walk with a folly to explore Walks and attractions on the doorstep as well as day trips further afield - easy reach of Harrogate (40 mins), York (60 mins), Northallerton (25 mins), Leyburn (25 mins), Thirsk (25 mins).
  • We had an amazing stay at Carolyn and Steve's place. The house was like a Grand Designs project with perfect social spaces to enjoy my 40th birthday with friends from all around the country. There were so many lovely little touches, a birthday banner, welcome message on the blackboard and a box full of tips on places to visit. Love all of the kitchen gadgets! There is plenty of company in the hilarious chickens strutting around the garden and visiting squirrels and pheasants. Elvis the cat kept popping in to check on us, between hunts. I've stayed in lots of wonderful airb&b houses, but never felt so at home as in this one.

  • Carolyn and Steve have the most wonderful place! I'm so glad they are sharing it with others on AirBnB. It was a perfect setting for a small gathering for my birthday. We enjoyed walking along the river as well as walks into town and tours of the local breweries. I will have fond memories of this trip for some time to come!

  • We had a fantastic weekend in this beautiful house near Masham. Ten adults, an eighteen month old, a ten week old baby and a dog. It's in a quiet location, with lots of parking, very close to the beautiful town, with a cross country walk of around 30minutes from the door straight to Masham's 'Black Sheep Brewery'. We rambled over and took their hour long tour (£9.50 each including a pint) on Saturday, then came back to the well equipped kitchen to cook up a storm. We then linked our laptop with the tv to watch the afternoons rugby in front of the wood burning stove. Hot baths and some singing around the piano made for a great evening. A perfect holiday spot for people wanting a hearty wholesome time. For dogs, they have to stay on the lead for the short walk along the edge of a wetlands reserve next to the house, but then can come off for a great run around along the nearby river (watching for sheep). Local useful things also include a co-op store a short walk down the main road, for things you've forgotten.

  • We had a great weekend staying at Carolyn and Steve's home! Their house is well maintained, with a distinct homely feel to it, and full of character and charm too. Everybody in the group kept saying how nice their house is! They really made every effort to make sure we felt welcome and at home, such as the personalised message on the mini blackboard, in the kitchen! They have really thought about all the smaller details! Before and during our stay, they were always very quick in responding to our messages or queries. Any concerns each of us had, were quickly resolved through open and honest communication. Very down to earth and reasonable! We did a lot of cooking over the weekend, and their kitchen is very well equipped to cater for the twelve of us. It's definitely the heart of their home! Also, the sound system in there, connected via Bluetooth, is a very nice touch! The area is very nice, especially if you want to escape the hustle and bustle of city life! However, their place was easy enough to get to as it's not far from the A1! Finally, if you're looking for something different to do as a group, I would recommend the 'farm adventures', in Ilton (5 miles away). Such good fun!

  • Great location for exploring the Dales but close to the A1 and walking distance of Masham. The accommodation is spacious, comfortable, clean and well equipped with ample parking. We had a great Sunday lunch at the White Bear which is an easy walk across the fields.

  • We got to the Old Fever Hospital, after receiving very clear directions and instructions on getting in from Carolyn, and immediately regretted that we hadn't arranged our travel so we could stay for much longer! The beautifully restored house in a gorgeous country setting was very comfortable and very clean and Carolyn and her family made us feel incredibly welcome. It's clearly their home but we always felt like guests, not intruders. Some highlights--the extremely well-appointed kitchen, the adorable and hilarious chickens, the large backyard and firepit, fact that we were firmly out in the country but just a short walk across a well-tended field to several outstanding brew pubs, and the Harry Potter room that made the 9-year-olds who stayed in it literally squeal with joy! Carolyn left a box full of information on the house, Masham , and the surrounding countryside. We were able to check out a couple of her recommended stops and took a wonderful walk through the countryside using a map that she provided. We are seriously considering trying to come back next year for a week because we barely scratched the surface of the wonderful things to do and see in the area.

  • Beautiful home in the Yorkshire countryside, great for walks across the fields into the town of Masham. The house is very functional with a large open plan kitchen which is great for hosting dinners with friends and families. The fire in the lounge was a nice touch and all the bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. Carolyn and Steve (and their kids!) were very accommodating to us and really went the extra mile for us. Thanks again!

Market view looks over the ancient and attractive market square with its old buildings and areas of interest. It is central for hotels, shops and scenic walks. You’ll love Market view because it is spacious, well equipped and has a lovely atmosphere. There are a combination of small shops, offering art, clothing, and souvenirs. There is a great selection of hotels, pubs and tearooms. There is an excellent range of local food shops. Many scenic walks are on the doorstep. Babies welcome.
It is a large studio apartment on the ground floor. The king size bed is separated from the lounge. There is a separate kitchen and a separate bathroom. The bath has a shower over it.
It is a lovely and friendly place to live. Everything required to relax, be occupied or to eat well is available in this market town. It is very old and the buildings are beautiful.
  • A gorgeously spacious dwelling that is on the doorstep of the beautiful Yorkshire Dales whether you ramble, cycle or just love the outdoors this is the place to rest after a hard day of doing your thing.

The Grade 2 listed Old Library, Masham sits on the corner of the principle approach in to the Market Square from Swinton. Built in 1856 it originally served as the Mechanic Institute of then Mashamshire. It was designed by the respected William Perkin of Perkin and Backhouse of Leeds in Victorian Italianate style. In 2017-18 its internal was redesigned and fully refurbished by Langton Holdings Ltd as a showcase for there work.
Offering a fully bespoke handmade kitchen with granite toped 2.8m long island the former Lecture Hall has been recreated to form one of the most exciting examples of open plan living in Yorkshire. The room has the historic A-frames spot lit as well as 3 chandlers. There is a Yamaha and Cambridge audio sound system and 60 inch smart TV. The current dining table seats 10 with plans to increase this to a 12 or 14 when a fitting antique one becomes available. There is sofa seating for 9 with coffee table (no photos of this area yet as still having curtains fitted). A log burner will be added once listed building consent is granted (don't ask - its taking forever!) In addition to this 924 sq ft open plan space two bedroom suits offer the following: Master bedroom offers king bed, handmade furniture, interlined curtains luxury carpets over 11mm underlay, beds are made up with Hungarian down duvets and minimum 400 tc linens. Think of a dales town, and Masham is very much what you have in mind, a charming Yorkshire Dales town on the northern edge of the Nidderdale Area. With a unique selection of high quality shops, galleries, cafés and restaurants there is plenty to entertain the casual browser and even more for the inquisitive visitor keen to explore. Combined with a weekly market and rich stunning countryside in every direction, this iconic town is a must for those looking to experience the true Yorkshire. What’s Best About Masham? The charming Georgian Market place is the heart of the town, giving a feeling of open space and fresh air regardless of the time of year, and allows visitors to stroll at their leisure free from the worries of traffic. It sits on the River Ure, at the foot of Wensleydale, one of the best known and most striking of the Yorkshire Dales. From here you can drive south to Upper or Lower Nidderdale, explore further west into the Dales or make a short hop in the other direction to Ripon or Harrogate. Big Events... July sees the annual Masham Steam Engine and Fair Organ Rally, as well as the best of local produce there are a range of steam and traction engines in steam and operating. These one functional yet beautiful machines capture the romance of a bygone age for all the family. At the end of September the town commemorates its woolly history with the lively annual Masham Sheep Fair. Competitions and sales of rare breeds, demonstrations and sheep racing are just some of the entertainments of offer. Hidden Gems Of Masham. Hackfall Woods and the Druids Temple are just two of the nearby Victorian sites of follies; structures built for no purpose other than to build them, partly as status symbols and partly to provide employment during times of economic hardship. The area around the town is known locally as Mashamshire and is land of curious follies and historic buildings and structures just waiting to be explored… Famous For… Beer! – put simply. Two great breweries operate in this small market town and both offer tours and gifts, while the many pubs just a stone’s throw from the breweries will provide the perfect opportunity to sample the range of delicious ales lovingly crafted in the town, and you’ll find no better steak and ale pie than one made with either Riggwelter, or Old Peculiar. Take your time to sample both, and decide which you prefer. This can take several nights, but with some great accommodation it’s a perfect place to spend some time. Getting To Masham. Using the A1: Coming from the south take junction 50, and follow signs along the A6055 then B6267, from the North take Junction 51 for Bedale, leaving Bedale on the B6268 and follow the road signs.

  • The accommodation is located in a great place- walking distance to all amenities, but with a lovely countryside feel. The apartments are great value for money- a cosy place to stay with all that you could need. The bathroom was clean and modern.

  • Rita place was great for my short break, sash windows 4 meters high and nice views over the grounds. The village is very nice, easy to walk into town from the accommodation with nice cafes, pubs, fish and chip shop, bakery, butchers, and green grocers which makes a nice change from shopping in supermarkets. They also have a co op. The river walk and nature reserve very nearby was great and I would happily stay again.

    James2017-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • A quirky and spacious room. Loved the sleeping loft and the fantastic shower! Kitchen had all basic amenities to cook own meals and the local Co-op was just down the road. Thank you for letting us stay.

  • Great place to stay close to the amenities in Masham. Fantastic value at Christmas

    Elaine2017-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • A really beautiful property, we stayed in the big, spacious and high ceiling suite 7 and felt very comfortable. It was clean and kept in good condition, plus the location was perfect because it was walking distance to the Market Square. Anyone looking for a quiet weekend away, as well as a visit to the Theakston and Black Sheep brewery should definitely consider this a prime location.

  • Lovey flat in old country mansion, very clean, wifi, tele and lots of equipment. Really enjoyed our stay.

    Kathleen2017-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Superb location and setting overlooking fields but still only 5 min walk to excellent amenities , cafes and pubs of a really pleasant, compact market town. We really liked the food at the Bordar House Cafe (excellent breakfast and cream tea) and The White Bear (gorgeous bread made with beer!). Lot's of local walks and places to visit nearby, easy to find, the setting and grounds are very picturesque and there is ample parking. Whilst some may find the decor old fashioned it is in keeping with the character of the property and adds to the charm. It's great (and increasingly rare) to be able to stay in such a historic property for such a reasonable cost. The suite was a good size too with all the facilities we required. Superb value for money

    Paul2017-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Mrs. Rita is very kind and helpful, and the accommodation is great, as is the price. There's lots of things to explore in the area.

The lodge is a lovely cottage in a prime location in the Dales market town of Masham in Lower Wensleydale, close to the famous Black Sheep Brewery and the White Bear Hotel. The lodge interior has been completely renovated to a high standard leaving some original features like the old stable door and oak beams. It is approximately 2 minutes walk from the market square, where market day takes place on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Masham has some superb pubs and cafes and has many activities
The lodge is a super, little spot in a central location of the town. It has a great open space area on the first floor. You will enjoy the comfort of your own parking space and on those lovely sunny afternoons, you can pull the table and chairs out and do a spot of reading in the area in front of the cottage.
The Black Sheep Brewery is a top restaurant and brewery along with many other eateries in the town. Market day on Wednesday and Saturday is lovely to see. Make sure you tell the fish man that you know me!!!!!
  • Had a lovely 2 night stay at this cottage. Very comfortable, modern, clean and well-equipped. The kitchen and bathroom are nice and new and the shower is fab! Suited our family of 4 perfectly (2 adults, 4 year old and 8 month old) Close to nice restaurants and cafes, The White Bear being a particular favourite. The staff and all locals were very friendly which made us feel really welcome. A great base to visit Light water Valley which is only about 5 miles away and a fun day out! Andrew was very accommodating and flexible throughout our stay and we look forward to returning in the near future! Thoroughly recommend!

  • Lovely cottage in an excellent location, couldn’t be any closer to the black sheep brewery to sample a few beers! The Cottage is located in the centre of masham which is a nice little friendly village, and also close by to a lot of attractions / places to visit, we went to brightwater valley for the Halloween themed event, this was only 5 miles away from the cottage. Andrew was a perfect host and made everything easy. I would definitely recommend it and the area if you haven’t been before.

  • An absolutely fantastic little cottage in a wonderful location. Very comfortable and clean with good facilities (the shower particularly was wonderful). An ideal location for exploring the wider area with good walks and some wonderful places to eat and drink. Andrew and Julia were excellent hosts and were really helpful and although we had no issues I have no doubt they would have solved any issues that might have come up. Will definitely be going back for a stay another time. Would highly recommend for anybody.

It was very clean and the attention to detail was appreciated (e.g. the fire was even set up ready to be lit) Katie was really helpful and accessible. Spacious Georgian house minutes from Masham's market square. Sleeping 9 over three floors, the house has bags of period character and charm - from Georgian window seats through to roaring log fires. Each room has been tastefully redecorated this year
Post Office house is a beautiful base from which to explore Masham and the Dales. The house is Georgian in origin and was rescued from disrepair by the current owners, each room has been remodelled and restored. The house is grade two listed and has the benefit of being in Masham with all of its amenities and yet is located just outside the square- with direct access to the river, cricket pitch and children's park across the road. The house lends itself to large parties and families. Guests will have access to the Kitchen, utility room, Lounge with fireplace , logs and coal, all bedrooms and the two bathrooms. Guests will also have off road parking. Guests will have basic food items provided including fresh eggs from our free range hens! We will get you settled in- show you how to work technical things i.e television etc. and make sure you have everything you need - once that is done - the house is yours to enjoy! We are always available by phone should you need something. I love Masham- there is so much to do! Firstly - as a place from which to see the Dales - its second to none . You have a wide range of pubs, restaurants and cafes all of which are very child friendly. There is a wide selection of shops and usually different exhibits happening in the town hall. Swinton Park country house, spa and restaurant is a must! The spa is fabulous and afternoon tea in the drawing room is a great experience. The restaurant has won many awards and they do a great priced Sunday lunch. Swinton park is a 2 minute drive or a pleasant 10 minute walk from the house. Horse riding and falconry experiences are also available. Artison is a two minute drive or short walk from the house - they offer short day courses in crafts such as pottery, jewellery making, blacksmithing - I've done a few and its great fun. Aside from the charms of being in Masham - you are in the heart of the Yorkshire dales - there are so many wonderful things to see from Bolton castle, Jervaux Abbey, Aysgarth Falls... though to a ride on the North York moors Steam railway.... you might struggle to fit it all in! We are really happy to recommend places and have written a guidebook that you will find alongside your guest information. There are lots of attractions within walking distance of the house- there is also a regular bus service that leaves from the market square.
  • Absolutely perfect! Post Office House is delightful, beautifully decorated, really cosy, very well equipped. We stayed with 6 adults and 3 children and there was more than enough space. There were so many little extra which made our visit special, like the cake and prosecco on arrival, personal visit from the owner to show us how to use everything. The children (and adults) had so much fun with the fancy dress chest. Masham is lovely, we stayed on the weekend of the Masham Steam Rally and enjoyed the best views from the upstairs window seats. Perfectly located for many local attractions, we visited Fountains Abbey and Lightwater valley, both of which were less than 20 minutes drive. We would definitely return!

  • We were a group of six adults, one child under four and a baby. We all commented on the large and very comfortable beds and the good nights sleep had by all. The house is large and quirky with plenty of space over three floors. Kitchen very well equipped. Location was perfect having a park and playground just across the road which was ideal for occupying the children and close to all the shops etc. of Masham. Kirsten was very accommodating and I would not think twice about staying again.

  • Perfect cottage thank you so much.

    Lucy2017-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • The house is stunning and very spacious. It is perfect for a group trip as it is near to lovely pubs, breweries, restaurants and walks. The beds are very comfortable, but the bedding is a bit heavy (we were there for a particularly warm weekend). Bathrooms and showers were great and spotless, as was the kitchen and back yard. I'd highly recommend a stay here and Masham, both make for a brilliant trip. We didn't meet the hosts but were in contact by phone and were very helpful.

  • Really lovely house in a really lovely location. Everything was clean, beds were super comfy and the open fire was great. Had a wonderful stay! Thanks for everything

  • Very well hosted, felt welcomed by Mike, and Kirsten was very helpful with lots of questions beforehand. The house is gorgeous, every room is beautiful and homely, couldn't have asked for more! Masham is a lovely village, and Hackfall is 5 mins drive away - lovely for a walk in the forest!

  • The Post Office House is a beautifully decorated and furnished home in a lovely setting in Masham. My friends and I stayed here during my wedding weekend and couldn't have enjoyed our stay any more. The house is large enough to comfortably accommodate nine and the little courtyard is brilliant when the sun is shining. Thank you for all of the lovely little touches!

Enjoy exploring the Yorkshire Dales, wandering around Masham, relaxing in the garden by the river. Our cottage has exposed stone, lots of old beams and feels comfortable and spacious. It's perfect whether you want to retreat from the world or explore. We provide plenty of information & ideas to help you make the most of your time here.
The cottage is part of a building that dates back to 1704, and which was a former corn mill. The cottage is quirky and has a sense of history with flagged stone floors (carpet in the lounge), and beautiful wooden beams in the bedrooms. The cottage sleeps 4 people very comfortably, 6 if you want to add two children and use a sofa bed in the lounge - but it will be "cosy". The cottage is simply but comfortably furnished. Outside, the garden overlooks the river and you can still see the old mill race. It's a very peaceful, hidden spot and yet only two minutes' walk into Masham market square with its independent shops, cafes and pubs. Inside the cottage there are plenty of books, games to play and jigsaws. This is an ideal place to come to relax, recuperate and feel re-inspired. You can choose to be quiet and contemplative, indulge your artistic streak, go out for bracing walks in awe-inspiring countryside or while away the hours in one of Masham’s excellent pubs.
Masham is a brilliant place to stay in the Yorkshire Dales. It's known for its two small breweries, Black Sheep and Theakstons and also has several great pubs. We also have a greengrocers, two butchers, Co-op, three galleries, two delis, several cafes and an excellent restaurant. There are several round walks (usually ending at a pub) around Masham, and a short drive away is Druids Temple, a folly close to an excellent and quirky cafe at Bivouac. Masham is in Lower Wensleydale so it's an excellent base from which to enjoy visiting the Yorkshire Dales.
  • A truly lovely cottage in a beautiful setting! My two teenage daughters and I had a great time exploring the dales with so many places to visit in the area. An area of outstanding natural beauty... we will certainly be back! The cottage itself is even more spacious than the pictures show, and the gardens are a delight. Susan provided some welcoming home essentials including eggs and milk, and was very helpful with providing local knowledge. I have already recommended to friends :o) Thank you!

    Lucie2015-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • A true gem in the heart of Yorkshire. Surprisingly spacious with a well-stocked kitchen and light, character-filled rooms. Ideally located within a tranquil country walk to the village center. For variety, true local producers and friendliness - this cottage in Masham is hard to beat. Can recommend without hesitation!

    Tracey2014-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely cottage in a very beautiful setting in a lovely old town. The bedrooms are spacious, comfortable and very clean. The kitchen is fully supplied with dishes and utensils for cooking. The bathroom is clean and comfortable to use. I can recommend it highly. One thing that prospective guests might find it helpful to know is that the bathroom is on the ground floor, while the bedrooms are on the first. It didn't bother me, but it might be difficult for some people.

    Maria2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely week in this old cottage. There are many nice simple touches to the decor that made it a special place to stay. The garden is wonderful. We had great weather during our week away, and we would have spent more time relaxing in the garden had we not been heading out each day for trips to Masham and beyond. The cottage had all the basics we needed for the week, though we would have made use of a microwave had there been one for warming up baby food. A warning for tall people: some of the doorways are a little low! Susan was a great host, very friendly and full of useful suggestions about the local area.

    David2017-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely house in a beautiful setting. It is spacious, with modern comforts but with the cottage's rustic features (ceiling beams, wooden staircase) highlighted. Ideal location, large yard on the river but a short walk to the town square. We enjoyed Masham, as it is not a real touristy place, so you can get a feel for local life. Susan provided a lot of helpful information, both on Masham and the Dales. When she learned we were going to York for the day, she went out of her way to give us advice and print-outs/maps. Would recommend staying here!

    Julie2017-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay here. Susan was kind and helpful with advice and suggestions in the run-up to our stay. The cottage is beautiful: big, light and incredibly quiet. The garden is lovely and there are stunning walking routes on the doorstep, plus it's a short walk into Masham. An ideal place to get away from life for a few days - I couldn't recommend it more. Thank you!

    Sam2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • A gem of a place which was ideal for our 2 nights we stayed there. It's in a great location with the centre of Masham only being a couple minutes walk away. Susan was there to greet us on our arrival and offered us great advice on what to do and where to go. Highly recommend this place if you ever want to visit Masham for more than a day!

    Paul2017-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • Cannot reccomend Susan's place enough. A brilliant property, a truly stunning location and a beautiful part of the world. Nothing was too much trouble and Susan went more than the extra mile for us to make our stay a memorable one. Hope to return very soon indeed. If you're still thinking about this one, don't, book it!!

Our Shepherds hut is the perfect place for a relaxing stay. Set in it's own private garden area it is ideal for those wanting to get away from it all and enjoy the Yorkshire surroundings.
Facilities include, small fridge, toaster, kettle and microwave in the kitchen area. The en suite bathroom has a shower and flushing toilet. It has mains electricity and a cast-iron electric log burning effect stove to provide instant no-mess heat. There is outside seating and a BBQ with charcoal provided.
  • This 'hut' really is lovely. We stayed at the beginning of October with a gale warning one night, but it was warm and cosy with plenty of extra blankets. It is well furnished, beautifully kept and manages to have everything you need in a small space. Lynda was welcoming and friendly (they live next door) but not intrusive. Ideal for us breaking a journey from London to Durham, though I would have happily stayed longer.

    Tara2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely unique place to stay in a beautiful setting. We hope we will get chance to go back :-).

  • From when we got here, we were very welcomed and felt right at home! Lyndas dog came to greet us on arrival which was lovely! The pigs are friendly and a lovely touch to see up close! The hut is superb, the little touches make it special! We were lovely and warm and didnt want to go home! The village pub is friendly, beautiful to go walking and after a 10 min drive we found a nice curry place. I was sad leaving! Lynda wasnt there when we said goodbye but her husband was and he was very charming and friendly. Cant wait to go again! Lea & Aaron. Xx

  • A lovely little escape for some peace & quiet. Lovely views. Everything was beautifully furnished and clean. I took my two children 9 &11 and they loved sleeping in the shepherds hut it was a real novelty for them and they especially loved the two pigs which they named Roxy & Beauty and of course Lynda's labradoodle who was always up for playing ball!

    Jan2017-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place, would come again! It was quiet and dark at night which I really like. Waking up with this tranquil view is priceless. Lynda thought of everything, even the sheets did smell nice. To bad we were already leaving after one night.

  • The best air B&B I've stayed in! A real gem and a great place for a get away. Lynda was extremely helpful and provided excellent directions/instructions. The little hut is super clean and cosy. Lynda has made it extremely comfortable and relaxing. The highlights of my trip were the dog & pigs and walking to the black sheep brewery through beautiful woodland. I loved my stay and will definitely stay again.

Staying at Swinton Bivouac is an experience you'll cherish forever. The Tree Lodges are nestled at the edge of the woods without electricity, so you can get back to grassroots simplicity. From your balcony you can watch the sun set and marvel at the dark Yorkshire starry skies, and inside snuggle by the fire. With 20,000 acres surrounding the site, there's plenty of space to explore. We welcome couples, solo adventurers, families and groups, not forgetting your four legged friends!

  • My friends and I decided to stay overnight here on our way up North. We loved the look of the photos, and that a lot of us could stay together. The cabin is beautifully decorated, and has a bathroom with a hot shower. There's also a little kitchenette with lots of cutlery, so you won't be short of anything you need. The cabin is heated with a log burning stone but has no electricity or normal lights. There was little twinkle light and the small battery candles, these are great for making the cabin pretty but not for providing any useful light. We saw this in advance and brought our own lights, and that was enough to have a really lovely evening. The beds are comfortable, however when there is a lot of people in the cabin, there isn't a lot of floor space. You can ram your bags into little nooks and crannies in the cabin, but make sure to do it before dark. There's a cafe on site, and the gentleman who works in the cafe is the nicest lad. The cherry on top is the incredible druid temple right next to the cabins. I knew the temple was there from the pictures on the site, however pictures do not do this temple justice. It's beautiful, a bit creepy, and one of the most stunning places I think I've ever visited in the UK. To be able to sit in the temple in the quiet, with the moss and the fog, has to be one of my favourite memories. I'm definitely planning on revisiting this estate (and phoning ahead to book one of their wood fire hot tubs!) It was a beautiful location and a great deal (especially considering you can squeeze 7 people into a cabin).

  • Perfect stay for our anniversary. Jane made us feel most welcome including a gift box of goodies. The location was stunning and the cottage has everything you need. Will definitely stay again. Thank you.

  • The Eagle's Nest is a wonderful, quiet retreat in the middle of the beautiful Yorkshire countryside. The window seat, in particular, is a real highlight. You could sit there for hours and watch the hares, the black rabbit and the cows go past - and listen to the fantastic bird song! We would thoroughly recommend this place, particularly if you like walking. Lots of great routes nearby.

    Charlotte2017-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had lovely trip to Yorkshire. The cottage was gorgeous and we had everything we could have wanted. The log fire and jacuzzi bath were a real treat. And the goodie basket was a lovely touch. The area has lots to see - we only had time for one walk during our trip, but we are happy to have an excuse to come back! Thank you for a special weekend.

  • We could not have asked for a nicer trip; our host Jane was so accommodating and went to the extra mile to leave a birthday card for me as well as some welcome goodies. The whole property was absolutely immaculately clean, the bedding was crisp and white, with a fluffy duvet and plump pillows and was so quiet at night we slept like babies in the super comfy bed. The cooking amenities are fantastic, gorgeous views across open fields and a great location for visiting many local amenities. We also thoroughly enjoyed the coziness of the wood burner and not sure the listing states that there is also a jacuzzi bath with shower over which was really enjoyed after a long day! All in all absolutely fantastic stay, thanks Jane!

It has an en-suite shower/bathroom, a king size bed with cotton sheets and gorgeous feather pillows , TV, WiFi and tea/coffee making facilities. West Tanfield is a really pretty North Yorkshire village, situated on the banks of the River Ure. We have a village store and post office, a Norman Church and a Methodist Chapel. Visit the famous 15th century Marmion Tower giving lovely and romantic views over the river. • Outstanding :). It is one of that must-see places in UK. The location is calm and quiet. Natural environment surrounding this place is pure and unblemished. It is a perfect place to relax. Description fully reflect current status of the property. It is family friendly area with many points of interests. My children were delighted. Mobile home was clean and cozy. Water hot, kitchen devices were working properly. The Hosts - kindest people I've ever met. Warm and helpful. The tradition of British Hospitality is safe. If you are looking for a nice, quiet and a safe place this may be something just for you.

  • Just back from a lovely weekend break. Caravan very comfortable and cosy, in a quiet, beautiful part of the country. The caravan had everything needed for our stay with lovely comfy beds, a well equipped kitchen and the perfect ingredients for breakfast. Our hosts Maxine and Anthony couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. Loved everything about the caravan and only sorry we couldn't have stayed longer. Would definitely recommend.

  • Lovely long weekend spent in the countryside near Kirkby Malzeard. Maxine and husband Anthony were extremely welcoming and made us feel very at ease staying on their farm. The setting itself was beautiful, the mobile home (which was the larger of the two as Maxine offered us a free upgrade to give us more privacy as had family staying over Easter) overlooked fields with horses and woods, there were chickens free roaming on the grass and we benefited from Maxine's generous provision of eggs, which were great scrambled for breakfast! The mobile home itself was very comfortable and warm and quiet, with all the mod-cons. Walking in the area was brilliant. There were some lovely walks over the moors and in Nidderdale on the borders with the Yorkshire dales, lots of local wildlife, and some great pubs as well with two breweries in Masham. Overall it was a very enjoyable first holiday with air bnb and we would definitely recommend staying at Buck House (and will be to our friends!)

    Catherine2015-04-06T00:00:00Z
  • Maxine was one of the best hosts I've had! Her place is cozy and clean, and was perfect for me as a solo traveler. The location is beautiful, and very restorative. I highly recommend Buck House Farm!

  • L'accueil de Maxine est exemplaire ! Elle a tout fait pour que nous soyons bien installés, et à veillé en permanence à notre confort, et même à notre confort alimentaire en nous offrant des oeufs de la ferme, des courgettes et concombres.

  • Maxine made us very welcome at the caravan and made sure that we had everything that we needed, including some great recommendations of places to visit;Hack Fall for stunning viewpoints and river and woodland walks ,also a great cafe, Jonny Baghdad, in Masham to take our visiting friends. There was much more that we would have liked to do in the area. The van was warm and cosy. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was lovely and hot. Everything was very clean and Maxine had supplied useful essentials in the kitchen. We loved the beautiful ,rural setting and waking up to the sound of of the cockerel crowing, geese and horses . We would love to come again.

  • Such warm hosts..nothing too much trouble. A remote location..great for peace and tranquility. Flossie, one of the dogs such a bonus too! Restful view of horses being fed from the mobile home window. Comfortable and restorative stay....thanks Maxine :-) Kind regards Petra

  • This was our second visit to the farm, and this time we stayed in the small caravan which was just lovely. We were with our 5 month old baby and the location is wonderful for walking, visiting sights and relaxing with the animals on the farm. Maxine is a fantastic host and helped make our stay very enjoyable. We walked at Hackfall which is highly recommended and went to Middleham Castle, which was brilliant, especially if you like the Wars of the Roses. The cottage has a DVD player- so you may wish to take some!

  • Quick, friendly communication from Scott to arrange arrival - he's based at the same site which made it easy. Scott showed us round and explained how everything worked - and even left a very nice bottle of wine in the fridge (thanks!). Accommodation very comfortable, relaxing chairs, comfy bed, good TV. Everything very new and clean. Good choice of places to eat / get a takeaway from. Delicious breakfast (included) in the nearby farmhouse cafe. Location perfect for exploring the Yorkshire Dales (Aysgarth Falls, Hawes, Richmond, etc). Very restful. Will be recommending to friends and family + staying again.

  • Such a magical experience staying in this gorgeous cabin. The private woodland setting, complete with its own BBQ hut and pond (!!!) Makes for a very relaxing and fun experience. Everything felt luxurious and thought out. The breakfast in the tea rooms was particularly nice. Communication and arrangements with key pick up and drop off could not have been easier. This is a lovely getaway which will not disappoint. My husband and I stayed for 2 nights but wished we could have stayed for more. Thank you Scott for creating such a lovely getaway. I recommend it highly. Sinèad & Dave.

Lovely holiday retreat set in friendly village with beautiful surrounding countryside. My cosy cottage is prefect for exploring the Yorkshire Dales, Fountains Abbey and local towns of Ripon, Harrogate and York. Spacious, refurbished, well equipped.
Welcome to Hillcrest Cottage nestled in the tranquillity of the Yorkshire Dales. The traditional cottage has been lovingly designed in sympathy to its character whilst maintaining the highest standards of modern comforts and conveniences. The large living room is the ideal setting for your family and friends to relax in, the inviting open fire for which logs are provided is perfect for cosy nights in toasting marshmallows. No traditional country kitchen would be complete without an oil fired Aga. Don't worry if you have never cooked on one before full instructions are provided. You will also find the kitchen is complete with all the modern utensils required for those who like to cook. There is also an inbuilt dishwasher for those who prefer to spend their time cooking rather than washing up. The spacious kitchen has room for six to dine and in addition there is also a separate dining room for more formal occasions. The utility room complete with a washing machine leads out to the cobbled court yard at the back of the cottage that can be used as additional parking for up to 2 cars. A country garden and lawn extend further and is ideal for children to play on or for summer barbecues for which garden furniture is provided. The light and airy main bedroom has the added luxury of a newly installed ensuite and an extra comfortable king sized bed. The two twin bedrooms can also enjoy a clean and bright brand new bathroom suite which has very recently been installed. The cottage comfortably sleeps 6 people with 1 double bed and 4 singles.
The beautiful Yorkshire Dales cannot be beaten on its quintessential charming villages and breath taking scenery. Kirkby Malzeard is a traditional farming village that has been unchanged for centuries both in the architecture and also in its friendly community. At the heart of the village is the award winning local butcher who offers a brilliant selection of local produce. He is only a few minutes walk away but I recommend you go early as his popularity can often result in a shortage of sausages at closing time. The other life line of Kirkby Malzeard village is of course the country pub. The Queens Head is open all year round and is a great little watering hole with a 8 minutes walk home to the cottage. Kirkby Malzeard is located within easy reach of the historic cities of Harrogate (half an hour drive) and York (one hour drive). In Harrogate the Royal Turkish Spa is a beautiful historic building that is a great excuse to visit for a day of pampering followed by afternoon tea at the world famous Betty's tea room. York too is overflowing with culture and heritage with many museums and great restaurants and of course York Minster is a must. The nearest towns to Kirkby Malzeard are Ripon and Masham both 15 minutes drive away. Masham is renowned for being home to two rival breweries Black Sheep and Theakstons both of which you can visit for their daily tours. Not surprisingly Masham is abundant with warm and friendly pubs and lovely places to eat out. Ripon too has great restaurants including Lockwoods and The Royal Oak and every evening at 9pm you can witness the ceremonial horn blowing that takes place in the market square which has been conducted without of fail for centuries. If you are feeling active there are plenty of energetic walks and cycle routes through the scenic countryside that can vary in distances and challenges depending on your ability. In 2014 the Tour de France rode jubilantly through the local area demonstrating the fantastic roads and landscapes Yorkshire has on offer for all fans of lycra. Fountains Abbey only 15 minutes drive away and is a spectacular ruin of great historical significance that has been very carefully preserved and managed by the National Trust to ensure its a great place to visit. Children in particular really enjoy exploring in the remains of the abbey and learning about the life as a monk that came to an end when Henry VIII arrived. Swinton Hall is located 10 minutes drive away and can be visited for a delux afternoon tea, a wedding or to take advantage of the luxurious spa. Swinton Hall has a very high reputation for its cooking school where you can take part in day courses that are highly recommended.
  • We had a wonderful time at Hillcrest and really enjoyed our stay in such a beautiful North Yorkshire village. The house was lovely and very comfortable. We had an issue with the water heater and Ilona got it sorted out asap even though she was on holiday herself. A perfect stay.

  • Lovely house. Very clean and tidy. We arrived a little earlier than planned and this was no problem at all. Rooms are a good size, suited 5 adult hikers. The village is nice and a good base for exploring the area.

    Ben2016-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful cottage in a great location for walks and rides, easily accessible to Masham and Ripon and beyond. Ilona was a delight to deal with. The cottage was immaculate, fully equipped and a true home from home. We will be back! Thanks, Ilona.

  • Great place, lovely village with a quiet village life. The house is spacious, very clean and beautiful. Enjoyed the local pub

    chris2017-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • Hillcrest was exactly as it was described - roomy, cosy and beautifully decorated with everything you could want for a home away from home. Ilona was friendly and very helpful answering all of our questions. There was lots of information about the local area and the town's facilities in the house. Nice touches that made us feel very welcome. Thanks again Ilona.

    Patricia2017-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Hillcrest is a beautiful cottage in the very friendly village of Kirby Malzaerd. We stayed for a week. The cottage is beautifully renovated and really was a home for our stay. The Aga was fantastic to cook on and a well stocked kitchen made cooking on holiday easy and fun. Great location for cycling and sightseeing. Ilona was fantastic, great at answering my questions. Hillcrest is the place to stay in Nidderdale. I would recommend to friend and return to if coming back to the Dales and there is so much to do we may very well return!

    Kim2017-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Relaxing location and close to many local towns and activities, including Masham, Ripon and Harrogate. Good space and local amenities in the village.

    Zoe2017-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage has a lovely atmosphere. It's very well equipped and all necesary instructions are well documented. The communication was perfect with Ilona, she's a great host. We really enjoyed staying there and definitely suggest it to others.

my mobile home is privately tucked away on our little farm and looks out onto gorgeous countryside. Recently refurbished, it offers simple but well equipped, warm, very comfortable accomodation. Suitable for up to 3 adults or 2 adults/2 children.
The mobile home is beautifully sited and very private. It has its own enclosed garden and patio area looking out onto just beautiful pastoral countryside. It is especially lovely now Autumn is here. At night the skies are clear and starry (no polluting city lights), and you can hear the owls hooting in the woods. The inside has refurbished to a simple but very comfortable and well equipped standard with free open access wi-wi The fixtures and fittings of the caravan are quite old but clean and very functional. The main bedroom has a standard size double bed (new and very comfy!), and the spare room with single bed is big enough for 1 adult or 2 small children. Cot or childs bed available on request. There is a little re-furbished bathroom with good shower, and and a spacious and cosy living area and kitchen with all basic amenities and storecupboard necessities - tea, coffee, condiments etc. The home has a gas fire and electric radiators so is still warm and cosy even in Winter. Small/medium size Dogs are welcome if well behaved and sensible. There is a £3.00 per night supplement for a dog.
We are situated down a little farm lane. Access is easy but we are very private. However, we are only a mile from the thriving village of KIrkby Malzeard which has 2 shops and a pub. Ripon is only a 15 minute drive, as is Masham. We are within easy access of both the dales and gorgeous countryside, or bigger towns like Harrogate and York.
  • Really nice cabin for a quiet getaway! When the weather is nice there are loads of walks to do in the area and plenty of outdoor area to hang around in. Maxine and Anthony were really nice hosts, friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend checking this place out :-)

  • We have had the most amazing holiday. Maxine and her family made us feel so welcome and nothing was too much trouble. We very much enjoyed the private and tranquil setting and our 3 year old had so much fun making friends with the dog, the chickens and the horses, one of which had a foal while we were there. Magical. Thank you so much for your hospitality. We'll be back! X

    Emily2015-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for somewhere simple and peaceful to stay , this is it. the caravan is in a gorgeous location in a sunny valley, lovely old trees ,next to a pretty farmhouse, and there are chickens , gentle dogs, and horses around. Idyllic - Surprisingly quiet for a working farm - the rooster didn't crow till after 9am when we were there! Peaceful , dark and silent at night - a good antidote to town life. Wonderful walks all around; Ripon is a nice little town, and we enjoyed Hackfall wood with its Victorian follies. Maxine is an excellent host, friendly, helpful and thoughtful -eg popping round during horrendous rain to make sure the gas heating and stove were working properly. Would definitely recommend to walkers and those who enjoy simple country pleasures. The caravan is as described - cosy, practical and warm.

    Bridget2017-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • A great place to stay with lovely people. Dogs, birds, chickens, geese, cats and of course horses. Some of the most beautiful horses we've ever seen and some lovely Ponies. The caravan is clean, dry and warm and everything works fine, and the garden is amazing. We'll be going back!

    Chris2017-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • It was a pleasure to meet Maxine, she was very helpful both before and on arrival. The caravan was clean, cosy and located on a lovely farm. Great holiday, thank you!

  • Maxine's a great host, happy to help at all times and seems to love having guests stay! The caravan is fab, well equipt and has everything you need to sleep, cook and chill! The location is an absolute dream; farm house surrounded by fields and farm noises with ponies trotting around the fields, the caravan has its own little garden and a bench which is a good little sun spot for a nice outdoor breakfast! Only downside was the shower which is like warm but not hot. We absolutely loved our stay and will be back next time we are in the area!!

A recently refurbished (feb 16), cosy holiday cottage in the heart of Masham village.
Cosy cottage with one large living/dining room and kitchen downstairs. Bathroom, large double bedroom and smaller second bed room with 2 single beds. Adjacent garage, good for small car, storing bikes/walking gear etc.
  • Location is fantastic! Masham is a quaint little town and the house was as good! Very comfortable and homely with everything needed. Emma was a great host answering all questions that we had! Highly recommend!

  • Kaye's cottage was absolutely lovely! Very clean, big, cosy and right in the centre of Masham. Great instructions inside the house regarding heating etc. Had everything you could pretty much need. No wifi, which is great if you want to get away from it all. We had just moved to the area and kind of needed it to set up property viewings but the community centre just down the road had a good connection. Everybody in the village is really friendly! We enjoyed ourselves very much. Thanks!

  • Catherine was a great host - welcoming us on our arrival and being around if needed. A great weekend away in Yorkshire for us all in a fabulous countryside setting.

    Jane2015-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • I booked this for other members of my family but they said they had a very comfortable stay here. The accommodation was very pleasant, clean and Catherine was very friendly and helpful. I will probably book this for myself when we next visit Yorkshire based on what they have told me.

  • We wanted a place to stay near Ripon and found West Leas Farm. The views are spectacular and we enjoyed seeing the farm animals and the friendly cats. Plenty of outdoor space and picnic tables. The cottage itself has basic amenities and would greatly benefit from some updating. Wifi was spotty, but not all guests are going to care about being connected to the outside world 24/7. Catherine our host, was really friendly and welcoming.

    Caroline2017-06-26T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay in catherine's house was great! It was the perfect getaway. The cottage is in the middle of countryside, with beatutiful views, and large spaces. It was a good location to explore yorkshire. Only downside was poor internet and phone connection but that helped us to disconnect and relax. Catherine was friendly and welcoming. Would definitely recommend!

  • Excellent location, great views (especially in autumn), warm, spacious, quiet and comfortable - and great value for a week’s stay. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Nidderdale is beautiful, and much less touristy than the dales, and there’s so much to see within twenty miles or so

    Nigel2017-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful converted barns, perfect for a small family. Very comfortable and in a beautiful rural setting

    Tom2015-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • Our host was very friendly and helpful before the arrival and also during our stay. We found the farm relatively easily with the instructions given by Catherine. The barn conversion was cosy and warm.. We found it difficult using the shower as it was trickling (unfortunately nothing could be done about that due to water pressure). The wifi connection kept cutting off and I could not get mobile network (although it would be good to get away from electronics/stress of life.) The view around the farm was very relaxing and green.

A fantastic opportunity to stay in our beautifully converted barn set in a stunning rural location. The lawned garden and small stream offer plenty of room to sit and play outside, and the interiors has been created by an interior designer. We are only 3 miles from the historic market City of Ripon, with it beautiful cathedral, lovely shops, restaurants, pubs and a cinema. You may choose to simply relax in the garden with a glass of wine or by the large cozy fire in the winter.
This is the home of a designer, so the furniture and furnishing are of the highest standard. You will love the quirky interior space with the mix of contemporary and retro styles. The house is all on 1 level and consists of 4 bedrooms. 3 double bedrooms, 2 of which have ensuite bathrooms and a twin room. There is one family bathroom with bath/shower. The large family kitchen/dining space has double height ceilings, additional seating and TV and a large log burner. This leads to the cozy sung which includes a generous L-shaped sofa and TV. We have Sonos in these rooms. From the snug is a 2nd sitting room with an additional loo and separate utility room.
  • What a fantastic place & a lovely setting. Very thoughtful array of provisions when we arrived & excellent advance information about the place & surrounding area. Would thoroughly recommend this to anyone wanting to visit North Yorkshire

    Nigel2016-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • We were made to feel very welcome on arrival. We asked for some towels as we did not realise they were not included, when the host came to get some for us she did not seem at all happy we were in her home, I did feel quite unwelcome. While most of the bedrooms and bathrooms were clean the owner clearly has a dog and there were hairs everywhere, dog baskets and bowls left out. The odour was very off-putting particularly ing the communal areas, a shame as it is a lovely home. It very much felt like we were staying in someones home but they hadn't prepared for us other than make the beds. The decor and layout is lovely and we loved the setting. Such a shame about some points above as this could be an excellent place.

  • This is a beautiful home in a stunning part of the country. A great place for a group of friends or family to relax and spend quality time. Great scenery, lots of space and lovely walks with an incredibly helpful and willing host. Can not recommend highly enough.

  • A beautiful, comfortable house in a lovely peaceful location. We had a perfect weekend with a family party. The house has everything one could ask including very comfortable beds and is in a peaceful garden surrounded by lovely countryside and lots of attractive villages with excellent pubs! There are lots of attractions to visit: Fountains Abbey, Newby Hall, Ripon, local walks and we even made a memorable trip to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. We had an excellent dinner in Lockwood's in Ripon and also at The White Bear in Masham. Also the house had everything one needed to cook excellent meals at home (helped by a delivery on arrival from Sainsbury's). There are TV's, a Sonos system. a piano and even a drum kit! Tom met us and could not have been more helpful. There was bread, croissants, milk butter and jam as well as access to all the herbs, spices and condiments one could want. I thoroughly recommend a stay in this house.

    Jane2017-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • The hosts could not have been more accommodating to our chosen arrival and departure times. Tom met us and showed us around and how everything worked. The house is lovely and spacious, decorated in Tor and Tom's very liveable-with style, and is very flexible - with three sitting areas ( including one in the enormous and lovely family kitchen ) and there is a nice split between living and sleeping, so if anyone wants to go to bed early ( unlike my 4 and 6 year olds ) they can do so without anyone disturbing them. Outside there is enough room for a good few cars should you need them, and the house itself is at the end of a long, well made farm drive. If I had to use one word it would be tranquil - there are no immediate neighbours anywhere near, and the only sound is the wind in the trees. An estate path intersects the bottom of the large garden with lovely walks in both directions. We had a lovely and memorable time.

    Sean2016-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed here as part of a group of late-twenties who were attending a wedding nearby and it was absolutely perfect for us - spacious, comfortable, spotless and a fantastic location in the Yorkshire countryside. Having said this it would also be perfect for families/groups of couples. Victoria and Tom were great hosts - they replied to any queries within minutes, happy to help with information about the surrounding area and even left some food and a bottle of wine to help us settle in. If I'm in the area again I would definitely stay here again!

    Charlie2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful home and setting, with close access to glorious countryside. The Vivians were marvellous hosts and provided us with everything we needed for a relaxing stay. liz2016-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful place!! The pictures don't do it justice as the house in which the B&B rooms are is idyllic, beautiful countryside all around, beautiful house inside and really comfortable and large room. Lindsey and Andy were great hosts who we had chats with when we saw them and who let us treat their home as our own. The room was very large and light, clean and comfortable with lots of lovely little extra personal touches, like dressing gowns and toiletries. The bathroom was fantastic and really modern and we also had use of the living room. Lindsey made us whatever breakfast we wanted, which was lovely. We will definitely be returning here on our future trips to Ripon! Thank you so much guys!

The breakfast provided was amazing with a choice of cereals, fruits, pastries and full English and we are really thankful that Lindsey provided gluten free breakfast at no extra cost. The location is lovely with lots of good pubs nearby and within easy distance of fountains abbey, Brimham rocks etc. Overall a lovely stay and we hope to return!

  • Lindsey and Andy's farm is a gorgeous home in the heart of the countryside outside of Ripon. They are the most friendly hosts you could ever wish to meet and their house is stunning. Our room was beautiful with a wonderful bed, amazing shower, lovely views and every amenity we could have asked for. Breakfast was delicious and we felt welcomed as if we were part of their family. We wish we had stayed for longer and we'll definitely be back again - this is the best B&B we've ever stayed in!

  • Anthony and Annabel were very helpful during booking and helping to recommend places in the local area. The cottage was just as described - plenty of space for six adults, well equipped kitchen and great entertainment (Sky, pool, lovely walks in the surrounding area) and well heated. Would definitely recommend and will look to stay again.

  • Good communication prior to our arrival with helpful directions.

  • Fabulous cottage in a beautiful area of Yorkshire. The cottage was spacious and really well equipped. The pool table is a great addition! Excellent place to stay for a few days cycling, there are great cycling roads from the cottage and there is secure bike storage. Anthony's communications were prompt and really helpful.

  • We (3 adults and 2 children) stayed for 2 nights at the end of August and had a really lovely time - the cottage is nothing short of delightful! It is well equipped, clean and stylish and with loads of room for a group of friends of family who like their own space. Idyllic location with some nice villages nearby (and good pubs!) and a co-op down the road for supplies. Easy to negotiate entry and the owner had left clear instructions for looking after the cottage during and after our stay. We couldn't fault it and would recommend it highly.

  • Great cottage, even prettier than the pictures show. Also the hosts were very communicative and great to deal with, highly recommended.

  • The stable cottage on a working farm on the very edge of the Yorkshire dales, was a beautiful, well located and highly enjoyable accommodation for our groups weekend. Anthony was very approachable and supportive also offering flexible check in and out times. Finally the neighbours / housekeepers were very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended!

  • A very good price for a lovely large apartment above stables. Ideal for a group of five or six and great to have a pool table! In a great area too. Anthony made sure we knew how to get there which was appreciated. The living space was particularly good. Would definitely come back!

  • I stayed at Stable Cottage with 6 others and we absolutely loved our stay. The stable is beautiful, clean and totally charming! In addition we found the place clean and with the small amenities that we had forgotten such as washing powder, liquid etc. Finally Anthony was a great aid for helping us find the cottage and had lots of helpful tips for things nearby!

Double bed on mezzanine, sofa and single bed below... Shower room. Very basic kitchen facilities eg kettle and microwave, but no cooker, hob or fridge. (Welcome to borrow cold box and ice pack if required, and gas camping hob)... The space doubles as music studio
Small studio with mezzanine sleeping area. Small sitting area. This is ideal for the budget traveller - we've slept 2 adults on mezzanine and two kids downstairs on camp beds. Cosy, rather than luxury. Great location on edge of nature reserve and 15 mins walk to Masham centre.
Masham is a great place to visit - pubs, breweries, restaurants, beautiful scenery.

  • We stayed for a stag do over the bonfire night weekend. Wow - what a space! The location is secluded and beautiful, the house was perfect.

    Sean2017-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • This is an incredible property in a stunning location. It is perfect for relaxing and spotting wildlife, we even saw a stoat! There are really nice walks around as well as little activities nearby Communication from Anthony was great.

  • Our stay at Squirrel Bank House was truly wonderful and something our family will be talking and reminiscing about for years to come. The location is truly beautiful and even more secluded than it first appears on the maps - despite excellent communication and extensive directions from Anthony himself, getting our family of fourteen there was easier said than done! But boy was it worth it... The house itself was simply stunning and had everything we could have needed. We spent most of day outside in the sunshine and most of our evening round the huge and homely kitchen table, warmed nicely by the fire. A wonderful place all round, and a truly perfect place for family and friends alike to spend quality time together.

  • We booked this cottage for a New Year's Break with Friends - it was perfectly located in the middle of nowhere. Beautiful countryside, lots of walking to be done. Anthony and Annabel's place will not let you down.

    Helen2017-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • I hired the house with a couple of friends for the weekend. The owners personally couldn't be there to greet us but they made necessary arrangements to make sure we were comfortable. The house described on the listings page accurate. It was kept in a brilliant condition. It was spacious, clean, well furnished, and we had access to all amenities one could possibly want. Even though the house was located in a rural area, it wasn’t too difficult to get there. The farm itself was huge with brilliant views of the river Ure. The only downside was not having access to a decent mobile reception but the Wifi more than made up for it. If you're looking for a nice quiet and well-furnished place with great views, then hands down this is the place you for you!

    Ali2016-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Anthony was extremely helpful and friendly both before we arrived and also during our stay. The house is beautiful and a great space to have a fun time with a big group of people. Would be eager to go back again in the future.

  • We had a lovely stay in the Old Milkhouse cottage, we felt right at home and the place was fantastic - very clean and cosy, with a good kitchen and great bathroom. The countryside was beautiful, definitely a perfect location to get away to! We spent our weekend cycling around the Dales and it was a very convenient location. Definitely recommend it.

  • A lovely cottage with fantastic views. We loved the charm of the place and the fact that it was a working farm. My daughter loved meeting the dogs and also getting chance to feed the chickens and check for eggs. Friendly host. Would definitely recommend and would love to return.

  • Great stay. Fot those traveling with children you might know how difficult this can be sometimes My children are 3 and 5. Catherine very sweetly upgraded me to a much larger cottage at same price as booked cottage. This most welcome courtesy made a big difference to our family unit. The location is great and there are a few nice walks in the area. Cottage was well equipped and clean. To be recommended

  • Lovely holiday cottage on a farm - great base to explore the Yorkshire Dales, very comfortable and clean. We missed Catherine on check-in but she'd already let us know the cottage would be open, which made it easy for us to go in anyway and she checked in with us the next day to see we were OK! Great facilities, lovely place. And the farm cats were very friendly :)

  • We had a lovely time staying on Catherine's farm - perfect for a quiet weekend away. Cottage was well equipped and warm. Thank you!

    Laura2015-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Catherine was an excellent host! She offered alot of advice about attractions in the Yorkshire area, shops, and the best times to take advantage of those attractions and shops. She was very accomodating and hospitable. The cottage was just clean and tidy. She even put out Christmas decorations, which added a cozy touch. I really enjoyed the central location of the place; it allowed for quick day trips to York, Whitby, the Dales, and the Moors.

    Hugh2016-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Catherine was very helpful and communication was excellent right till my arrival, which was quite late into the evening due to my car breaking down. Barn was comfortable, shower was amazing, views are glorious. I was only there two nights and at an event for most of that, so I really just used it as a place to sleep, but suspect it'd be ideal for a longer self-catering stay.

  • Catherine was a most welcoming host. We did enjoy our 3 day stay in her well-equipped and comfortable cottage. We would be happy to return.
