Case Vacanze a Macclesfield

Appena prenotato a Macclesfield

We are In the edge of peak district , 3 miles from Lyme park 16 miles from Tatton Park 30 mile from Chatsworth house 12 mile from centre Manchester , bus stop just in front of the main house , 5 minute to Strines train station Our own private car park for at least 20 cars in the back and at least another 4 in the front which we intend to use for the Airbnb guests so you don't have to worry if you come by more than one car
Chalet/Cabin in Cheshire - perfect for nature and animal lovers! An ensuite chalet overlooking the Goyt valley in Cheshire. This cabin has all the comforts. It can accommodate 4 guests - suitable for groups or families. The chalet has one double bedroom with an en suite shower room and a large living room, which can accommodate a king-size inflatable bed . We have a Barbie's cot as show on the pictures so all the little ones will enjoy their comfort as well There's WiFi. We just installed a 45" smart TV with free view in the living room and 32" TV with DVD player in the bedroom , It is really well insulated and warmer than my house in winter! The chalet does not have a kitchen but there is a fridge-freezer, micro wave ,toaster and kettle. Guests are very welcome to use my kitchen. There is a utility room next to the chalet with a washing machine and dryer. The chalet also has a DAB radio , so you know that even if the weather is against you, there's still plenty to do! The Chalet is located in the rolling hills of Cheshire, which is lush green in the summer and has plenty of snow in the winter. The chalet is set on 11 acres of land, which includes my house. I originally built the chalet for my son to live in. He has since left home and just graduated from Oxford University. I didn't want it to sit empty, so I have made it available to Airbnb members. There are 11 acres of land, full of a range of rare, pure breed poultry, some already extinct, some not even on the internet. They include peacocks and peahens. If you are nature and animal lovers, this is the place for you! Join me for a glass of red wine seeing the peacock dancing to attract his lady friends and on occasion watch the daring deer wandering round the garden. http://cheshirechik.co.uk/ Walking in Cheshire One of the best ways to see this part of the world is on foot. We are located on the border of the famous Goyt Valley and the Roman Lakes. Although the Lakes might not have the strongest link to the Romans, it is still amazing to visit one of the most important sites of the Industrial Revolution in this part of the world. We are close to transport links for the rest of Derbyshire and the Peak District. We have plenty of National Trust parks, and our closest, Lyme Park is perhaps most famous for being the site of the 1990's television adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. Located close to Marple village, which provided the title for Agatha Christie's famous series, Strines also has excellent transport links to the center of Manchester, Stockport . With regular trains and three nearby railway stations, it is just as easy to use our Chalet as a jumping point for a quiet city break as it is a country one! So whether you'd like to enjoy the tranquillity of the surrounding countryside or be close enough to enjoy everything Manchester has to offer, Strines is the place for you. With the summer fast approaching we have just purchased a new BBQ which guests are more than welcome to use. We are also happy to accommodate anyone who would be interested in using the cabin and gardens as the site for photo shoots; all are welcome! Please note, due to the winter months coming up, all guests that need to go out by foot please be advised to use our steps just in the front of the main house when walking up or down from the chalet rather than the driveway itself as it can become rather slippy! Cheers and have a wonderful day!
  • Minh’s chalet was fantastic and we’ll be back soon! Minh had kindly put the heating on prior to our arrival so it was lovely and warm when we turned up at 9pm. The chalet was clean and comfortable and perfect for our weekend away attending a wedding locally. Thank you so much for having us!

  • Wonderful experience with the host and his lovely dog. The convenient place which is not far from any resort around peak district.

  • Thanks to Minh for a special experience. Arrived in the dark and was welcomed by Minh and an excited dog with an inquisitive nose!!! We were shown to the chalet and everything was explained. Last we saw of Minh til we left next day. Ate in the pub up the road which was very good and returned to a warm cosy chalet! Excellent value will definitely return in summer when it is possible to get around the 10 acres without a canoe. Great find!!

  • A quirky little place on the edge of the peak district, i spent 8 days here while working in Stockport and it felt rather like being on a little holiday. the chalet is very well equipped and had a nice feeling, and theres a bus stop at the end of the drive just outside the house, so its quite convenient even if you dont have a car i didnt get to see the peacocks, but the cat came in and said hello, if im in the area again i would definitely stay again!

  • The cosy Chalet for all seasons was exactly as we saw on Airbnb and certainly lived up to its name! My girlfriend and I stayed with Minh for a night and on arrival he was very welcoming and allowed us to enter the chalet early which was really handy. The chalet was perfect and had everything we needed for our stay! Minh was always available by phone to answer any queries we had before and during our trip promptly! He allowed us to vacate the chalet when we were ready which was ideal after our long day in Manchester. There was also a lovely pub 'Royal Oak Robinsons' close by who provided lovely food and the owners and staff were very friendly. My girlfriend and I loved the chalet and would definitely return to stay there again! Thank you Minh!!

  • Minh was a great host! He made us feel very comfortable, gave us tips about where to go. Very helpful. The chalet is amazing, relaxing and cosy. There is a lovely village down the road which had the Christmas market on, definitely worth a visit. So basically; I highly recommend this chalet.

  • Laura’s place is even more stunning than the pictures show, it’s the most luxe, chic Airbnb I’ve stayed in! The welcome was lovely, and there was even cake involved I’ll definitely be back ASAP. It gives me total home envy!!

    Kellé2017-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing location which we used to film in for four days. An utterly accommodating and empathetic host in Laura. A uniquely beautiful homestead which will suit anyone looking to shoot a commercial project or simply enjoy the accommodation as simply a home.

    Lee2017-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location and very kind hosts

    Jamie2017-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Meget estetisk oplevelse. Magi Very aesthetic experience. The home is simply so beautiful that you do not want to leave it. (Even better than the pictures). I would encourage everyone to visit this beautiful place. Magic

  • This space is absolutely stunning and a must visit. The house is located in close proximity to Macclesfield town centre and the train station and is the perfect getaway. On arrival we were greeted by a preheated traditional fire and candles lit throughout the house. Upon exploring the space we were wowed by the striking decor and the best bit...there is a bath in the main bedroom. Although we did not meet Laura she had a secure keybox which made check in easy and we were in touch via messages / email throughout the night. Thanks you for our lovely stay Laura :-)

  • Beautiful house with unique and stylish interiors.

    Victoria2017-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • A warm welcome awaited us and whilst we were expecting a house with historic associations, the interior gave us particular pleasure with no compromise on comfort and facilities. It was warm, airy and spacious and felt like a family home. Laura was delightful and very helpful.

    Margarette2017-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Fabulously stylish house with lots of atmosphere. The rooms are spacious and the curved staircase creates a dramatic entrance. We especially loved the attic room, the master bedroom with its freestanding bath and the comfy lounge. The location is excellent - on the edge of the town centre. Short walk to cafes and shops.

  • Kate was wonderful and made me feel right at ease! Her home is lovely and clean with great facilities. Her little dog is so sweet too! The house is situated perfectly by the town centre so the shops, train and bus station are all close. Thank you!!

    Melissa2017-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Kate is a lovely host. She's friendly, polite and available if you need anything. Her place is very central and is literally just a minute away from the bus station. The room was tidy and was enough for one person to stay comfortably. Kate advised me on places to stay nearby and life in Macclesfield in general. She also made me some very delicious mushroom soup. Her dog Lisa is a delight. You would long to wake up every morning just so you can play with Lisa for a while. If you're ever coming to Macclesfield or are working in Wilmslow, I'd definitely suggest that you choose her place to stay.

    Ashish2017-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • The best Airbnb experience ever! I have to say the whole house is super clean and tidy, absolutely spotless. Plus the good location, it's even a good choice if you want to visit Manchester since it only takes you about 20 minutes by train from Macclesfield to Manchester. Kate is an amazing host, nice and helpful, offering guests a free lift from the train station even it only takes you a 5 minutes walk to the house. I was not able to have the breakfast provided by Kate since I got a train to catch that day, but still want to say thanks again to Kate and I would definitely recommend the house to everyone !

    Ian2016-12-04T00:00:00Z
  • Room clean and tidy, like the pictures, perfect location in the heart of town, 1 minute walking distance to the bus station and 5 minutes to train station, quiet place. Thanks a lot! 100% recomendable. Javier.

  • The best place to stay when visiting Macclesfield!! Kate is very friendly, hospitable, helpful and always with a big smile! She is a great cook as well. All rooms are clean and cute. Lisa the cute dog is amazing!! She is so playful and friendly -just drop her a toy and the fun begins!

    Agapi2017-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean and comfortable accommodation , Kate is a very warm and friendly person someone you can feel very much at ease staying with . There is a car park directly opposite which is free to park in between the hours of 6pm to 8am . There is free residential parking 5 mins walk away but I would not have wanted to walk back in the dark by myself

  • We had a lovely stay in Macclesfield. The house was very clean and spacious. It is on a lovely part of town and it is conveniently short walking distance to the center, stores and restaurants. Laura made things very easy in terms of check in and check out; it was all very smooth for us. Laura is a very kind host that made us feel very welcomed. We had a lovely stay! Thank you very much.

  • 67 Roe Street is a great place to stay if you are in or around Macclesfield, and is really easy to find. The house is beautiful, with bags of character. Laura is a great host, making you feel welcome as soon as you arrive. I’ve already booked my next stay :-)

    Stephen2017-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • The phrase 'it was like walking into a film set' is an overused cliché... However, this time I literally was walking onto a film set as I arrived just after the photo shoot was completed but before the movie filming began. 67 Roe is an intensely civilised, decadent and bohemian institution of Macclesfield. Laura was a very gracious and charming host and happily accommodated my request for synthetic pillows. The bed was super comfortable and I slept extremely well. I highly recommend and I will stay again!

Buxton (30 minuti), Matlock e Bakewell (45 minuti). Alton Towers (40 minuti). Jodrell Bank (25 minuti). Chill Factore (45 minuti)
  • I've just spent my third week here at Park View and it's been a pleasure once again. Great hosts offering a high standard of accommodation. I look forward to returning.

  • I've stayed with Vivien for the last 3 weeks, and it's been a very pleasant stay. The room is well equipped and spotless. It has an ensuite wet room and a kitchenette. And of course internet access. Vivien left out breakfast options for me and also fresh fruit. The place is on a quiet road but not too far out of town, about a 15 minute walk. Great place to stay if you're in the area! Hopefully I'll stay again in the future.

    Dave2017-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Vivien was indeed a great host who surpassed my expectations many times! For a really small price we had a wonderful stay which made the whole trip a lot more memorable. Vivien was smiling as she accepted us to check-in at nearly 2am in the morning and so she remained, very caring, welcoming and willing to help with whatever we needed throughout our stay. Accommodation was convenient in every way and every little thing was taken care of. We felt great staying there the entire time and I will certainly recommend Vivien and her house to any friends, heading to visit the Peak District!

Set in 12 acres, on the edge of the Peak District, fantastic walks and scenery, and close to town. The cottage is beautiful. With wood burning stoves, bbq, courtyard, access to gardens, fire pit & zip wires. Great for family, business and couples.
Eddisbury Hall Cottage is set above the Cheshire Plains on the edge of the Peak District. Boasting superb far reaching views across Macclesfield and the Cheshire Plains and a great base for walking and cycling. The stone built, detached cottage is the old Coach house located next to Eddisbury Hall and comes with shared use of the owner’s fabulous grounds, which are home to two fire pits. Macclesfield itself lies just below the western edge of the Peak District National Park. A prosperous town, its cobbled streets are well-equipped with excellent local shops, high street names, art galleries and there is an eagerly awaited monthly market. Macclesfield Forest is also around 10 minutes’ from the property and somewhere that you can enjoy outdoor activities, such as horse riding, walking, cycling and fishing. Away from the town, Macclesfield is surrounded by spectacular countryside and within minutes you can reach the Peak District National Park. Buxton with its opera house, Pavillion Gardens and annual festivals and fairs is around a 20-minute drive, and the popular villages of Edale and Castleton around half an hour. The fascinating plague village of Eyam is around a 40-minute drive and the magnificent Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and market town of Bakewell can be reached in around 45 minutes. In the other direction the countryside of Cheshire also has an abundance to offer including a number of stately homes and gardens, such as Gawsworth Hall, a 15-minute drive, Little Moreton Hall, a 30-minute drive and a little further, Tatton Park and Arley Hall, both a 40-minute drive. Styal Mill and Jodrell Bank can also both be reached in under half an hour. Finally, the bright lights of the city of Manchester with its shops, shows, bars and restaurants can be reached in around a 45-minute drive or a 25-minute direct train journey from Macclesfield Station. Shop 1¼ miles, pub and restaurant 1½ miles. 12 steps to entrance. 2 steps to living room with vaulted ceiling, beams, Velux and wooden floor. Shower room with toilet. First floor: Dining room/kitchen. 2 bedrooms: 1 double (5ft), 1 twin. Woodburners in living room and dining room included. Electric central heating (underfloor in shower room), electricity, bed linen and towels included. Freeview TV. Electric cooker. Microwave. Washing machine (in external utility room). Freezer. Wi-fi. Courtyard with sitting-out area. Barbecue. Shared grounds. Shared fire pits. Parking (2 cars). Natural water supply from borehole. Pets welcome - to be kept on a lead at all times. No smoking. NB: Unfenced pond, steps, sloping banks and drops in grounds.
This is a beautiful part of the world, on the edge of the Peak District, with very beautiful walks all within minutes. Macclesfield is a lively market town with bars and restaurants. There are theaters in Buxton and Manchester. So you can combine a quiet holiday with restaurants and night life if desired.
  • Lovely place just outside Macclesfield beside the owners home. Close to town but with great views over Macclesfield. We had a 7 year old with us who loved the assault course and zip wires and trampoline in the woods behind. The cottage has two bedrooms. Downstairs toilet so be warned if you get up a lot in the night but it was very well equipped and cosy. Also there were lots of toys for kids and board games and information for local walks.

  • Our first airbnb stay and it turned out to be very special. We so enjoyed our stay in this cosy cottage which is very well equipped. Our daughter absolutely loved exploring the woods behind the cottage. Hopefully we'll see the badgers next time! Clare could not have been more friendly and accommodating. Perfect location for exploring The Peak District and Cheshire.

  • The Eddisbury Hall Cottage was amazing. As great as the pictures and reviews suggest. Clare, who lives next door and is very communicative, was a wonderful host. She went above and beyond with snacks available upon arrival and even left out some toys (her grown son's erector set?) for our small children to play with while we stayed. Additionally, it really is gorgeous. The setting, proximity to the Peak District, and back story of the Hall were lovely. We would highly recommend this place.

    Michelle2016-12-11T00:00:00Z
  • Eddesbury hall is set in an idyllic country location on a hillside yet close to Macclesfield. The coach house cottage is very comfortable to stay in and the hosts very charming and concerned for their guests comfort.

    Felice2016-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • We came to stay just for the weekend and were taken aback at how beautiful the grounds were. The location was absolutely ideal for heading to the Peak District, and was also near all main shops in Macclesfield. I have stayed in many air bnb places but none are as clean as this one. All finishings were of an extremely high spec, including crockery and cutlery! We felt that for the price it was extremely good value, and our host made us feel extremely welcome by greeting us with eggs and cake from the chickens outside :) this is a definite must stay if you are staying at the Peak District. Don't stay anywhere else.

    Sofia2016-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Clare's place is the perfect base to explore the Peak District. It is stylishly renovated, extremely comfortable and provides everything you could possibly need.

  • Cosy Cottage. Home from home. Ideal location whilst visiting relatives in Macclesfield, yet in a quiet and stunning location with walks on the doorstep. Kind hospitality from Clare. Hope to visit again soon.

  • Absolutely lovely cottage, beautiful location, beautifully decorated and great facilities. The host was lovely and there was a little welcome treat! She was very accommodating and made us very welcome. We used the books provided to find a nice walk, host recommendations for local activities and had fun acting like children on the assault course. Highly recommend staying here!

Spotlessly clean with every amenity you could want....and more! 2 proper bathrooms too which isn’t clear on the description. Nadine is the perfect host. Excellent communication. Easy check in. Totally recommend!

  • The cottage is absolutely stunning and a perfect base for our trips into the Peak District. It has been beautifully done up to a very high standard and simply and stunningly decorated to make it feel very comfortable and clean. Thanks so much to Becky for a great place for a family reunion - kitchen so perfectly equipped and she even left us bread, mile and butter etc.

    Helena2016-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had good time in this cottage. The room was clean, the host was friendly. Bread and milk were in the fridge before we arrived. In a word, it was a good cottage.

  • Becky was a very welcoming and thoughtful host. She was very easy to get in touch with and met up with us to let us in. Freshly ground coffee was a lovely touch. Overall very convenient location for a wedding we attended and nice stay.

  • This was the second time that we've stayed at Becky's cottage and we were again made to feel at home. Becky met us on arrival and made sure we were okay before leaving us to it. The cottage is very modern and clean inside and had everything that we needed for a comfortable weekend break. The large open plan lounge/kitchen/diner meant that we could prepare tea whilst my son watched TV and played with his Lego. The location of the property is also perfect as we were not only able to do some more exploring of the Peak District but also able to pop to the Trafford Centre to watch a movie.

    Gary2016-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • Our 3 weeks stay couldn't have gone any better. Thanks to the lovely Becky who provided a warm welcome and ensured we had every thing we needed. The added extras, like the flowers, bread milk and butter plus additional appliances like a maiden and baby stairgate which Becky kindly arranged were very appreciated and made the experience ever more comfortable. The house is spotless and modern and absolutely fab! Becky you're a star! You were patient and understanding, thoughtful & always quick to reply to my endless questions - the perfect host! So accommodating. Thank you.

  • We had a great stay at Becky's cottage! 6 of us stayed for the Blue Dot festival at Jodrell Bank. We had a fantastic weekend and the cottage was a perfect place for a group to stay. Becky was easy to contact, despite being on holiday herself and we found our stay very comfortable and enjoyable. Hopefully we'll be back next year

  • Andrew's place is just as new and lovely as it is in the pictures. 6 of us were going hiking in peak district and the house was perfect for us. There were two living rooms, really nice for a group of friends to chill out in the evening, and three bathrooms all equipped with showers so it was very convenient. I'd highly recommend Andrew's place!

  • What a delightful stay and a delightful place. Sian and David could not have done more to make it feel like we were in our own home. The set up was perfect for us with a place to store our bikes and access to a washing machine. The kitchen, bedroom and bathroom were nicely kitted out and all clean and lovely. Tesco is just round the corner making dinner a breeze. A most excellent stay, excellent hosts and heartily recommended.

  • I was visiting family in Mac but didn't fancy doing the journey there and back in a single day, so wanted somewhere for just the night. Sian & Dave's house made the perfect rest stop, and was topped off by being able to spend a little time with their gorgeous cats. I would recommend their room to anyone looking for a similar stay.

  • Sian was very prompt in responding and took our booking at very short notice, due to a family crisis. Instructions on how to access the house were clear and easy. The house was lovely. Clean and tidy. The ‘guard cats’ were adorable and very welcoming. The bed was very comfortable, we had our own bathroom and clean towels were provided. Our hosts were very friendly, easy going and communicative. Nothing was too much trouble. We would have no qualms in using Sians home again, and wholeheartedly recommend it as an excellent place to stay whilst visiting the Macclesfield area. Thank you so much.

  • I stayed at Louise's home for few weeks until I find the longer place to live surrounding Macclesfield. House is very close to train station and 24hr supermarket. Louise helped me by providing the local information and things to do for fun. Louise's home is very clean, spacious and relaxing atmosphere. She is very caring, friendly host and always make me feel like home. I am such a lucky person to find a great host and be welcomed like a family member.

Hun åbnede sit hjem for os. Huset lå meget centralt i Macclesfield. Der var god forbindelse til Manchester lufthavn.

  • My second stay here was very welcoming and comfortable. Clean and tidy, too!

    Mike2017-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • What a gem! I arrived at Louise’s place after a long drive on a snowy day and was welcomed with a mug of tea, home-made chocolate cake and the offer of a bowl of homemade soup! Conversation flowed effortlessly with both Louise and Michael, her partner. What a superb welcome! Next, I was shown my room for the next two days - perfect- a comfortable double-bed with clean linen and towels, warm (outside temperatures were below zero), well-ventilated and lots of storage ( hangers provided) ! I couldn’t have asked for more. I slept really well! I shared the family bathroom which was clean with plentiful hot water and a powerful shower. No issues over access either. In addition to all this I was given access to their kitchen to makes cups of coffee and to heat up a ready-meal. At breakfast-time I was offered cereal and fresh bread with real butter (as well as margarine) plus jams etc. Coffee too - of course! Each morning I enjoyed great chats with Michael as well as guidance on my plans for the day. The railway station is just 10 minutes walk and the frequent trains run directly into Manchester, Piccadilly. For me - this was a perfect base to visit Manchester in a great location with A1 people. Excellent value too! Thank you. I’ll be back!

The room was clean, comfortable and warm and was en-suite. Great! While I don't usually take breakfast early in the day I was tempted by beautiful fresh bread awaiting me in the morning. Overall this was a really pleasant stay in a charming home with a warm, welcoming host.

Very handy for Macclesfield (we were doing business there) and of course the stunning Peak District just down the road. Just sorry we were only there for one night, though we did manage one short trail nearby. Love the way the local pubs publish their own walk leaflets ;-) Mike and Lou are extremely welcoming and their accommodation is beautifully appointed, clean and comfortable. Thank you both :-)

  • Lovely building, beds are comfortable and well located. Had breakfast with Nigel both mornings, here he gave us tips of where to go walking and even provided printed maps for the area. Thanks.

  • Nigel made us very welcome and he and his partner were extremely friendly and helpful, plus, Nigel's knowledge of the local area was excellent and very informative. He was very generous with his breakfast offerings and always happy to oblige, such as heating up a takeaway pizza for us, late one evening, as well as being eager to please. I highly recommend Walkers Barn and Nigel as host.

    Alein2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Nigel offers a very cosy room with comfy beds in his lovely covered brewery home, but also excellent hospitality, cooked breakfasts, tips for where to go nearby, and even guided walks around the local area. The surrounding countryside is excellent for walkers and ramblers, with trails that start at the front door. Macclesfield is about 10 minutes away in the car and has lots of restaurants, bars and supermarkets. Buxton, Bakewell and the rest of the Peak District is also easily accessible by car (or by bus). Excellent value for money, and highly recommended.

    Massimo2017-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent and really helpful host, who is very knowledgeable about the area. The accommodation is minimalist, but that reflects in the price. The main issues were noise of the vehicles from the road and the sulfur smell of the bore well water in the mains. Very scenic location with easy access to various walks and attractions. There are lot of eating places within 10 minutes drive. We enjoyed our weekend trip and the friendly hospitality of Nigel and Micheal. Good value for money.

Welcome to my home sweet home! Located on the edge of the beautiful Peak District National Park in the historic market town of Macclesfield, my cosy little English house is a 15min walk from the local train station, only 30min drive from Manchester international airport and 20min from the centre of Manchester on the train. On top of your own private room, you'll find tea, coffee and fresh fruit in the morning, a warm welcome and a friendly host!
The guest bedroom is small but cosy, with a nice view of the nearby gardens. It is equipped with a pull out day bed that can accommodate 2. I bought this house because of the open-plan ground floor which allows a lot of light in. My goal has been to make it cosy and comfortable using warm, solid materials and greens to bring the garden inside the house. You'll find a comfortable couch, a solid oak dining table and a well equipped, modern kitchen which you are welcome to use.
My little red brick house is a typical English end-terrace house. It sits in a conservation area, an area recognised for its historical significance, in fact the house itself is some 150 years old! There are plenty of green spaces and parks nearby, as well as woods and walks a short drive away. the town centre is a short 10min walk away. The town of Macclesfield is a historic market town with cobbled stone streets and little quirky pubs.

Where the Cheshire plains meet the peaks in the “Happy Valley” sits the delightful town of Bollington. With a rich heritage in the cotton spinning industry, there’s still plenty of surviving mills and a network of canals. Standing high above the town on Kerridge Hill is the landmark of “White Nancy” built in 1817 to commemorate the victory at the Battle of Waterloo. Today the town is a thriving community within the Manchester commuter belt resulting in a very bohemian atmosphere. Unlike most places, there are still plenty of busy pubs and a bounty of eateries, bars and cafés. It’s a very short hop to the bustling city of Manchester or the majesty and breathtaking beauty of the Peak District National Park. As a major centre for cotton spinning in the 19th and 20th centuries, Bollington boasts a rich heritage which can still be seen in its old converted mills and canal network. Nicknamed the ‘Happy Valley’, Bollington sits on the South-Western edge of the Peak District with its iconic landmark, White Nancy rising above the Town on top of Kerridge Hill. Bollington is where the peaks meet the plains. A small town with the village atmosphere at its heart, it is often referred to as a Lancashire mill town in the Derbyshire hills of Cheshire – the Happy Valley. Situated on the very edge of the Peak District National Park, Bollington is a traditional stone built mill town, the only stone built community in Cheshire, nestling in the valleys on the sides of green hills which look away over the Cheshire plain. Narrow streets lead through the town providing tantalising views of hills, valleys and the very quarries from which the building stone was hewn by the sweat of its early inhabitants. Many of their descendants live here to this day – once a Bollingtonian always a Bollingtonian! Possibly named after Bolla’s ton or village in a medieval era of primitive farming, the town has evolved through the birth of the industrial revolution with the first water powered mills in the district, in Ingersley Vale, and later the giant Clarence, Adelphi, Waterhouse, Oak Bank and Lowerhouse steam powered mills fully supported by the then revolutionary canal and railway. In modern times some mills have disappeared, others have changed their industries – Adelphi Mill is full of high tech businesses – and the top floors of Clarence Mill have been converted into luxury apartments with industry below. At Clarence Mill you can find Bollington Discovery Centre, where this story is told. Those two man-made transport routes, now redundant from their original purpose, serve the town as very popular recreation and nature areas – the Macclesfield Canal - navigated today by increasing numbers of narrow boats and cruisers, it’s busy towpath used by walkers, runners and fishermen, and the Middlewood Way, once the Macclesfield Bollington & Marple Railway, now the green home to a great variety of flora and fauna. But for all the changes wrought over the years Bollington remains a friendly little town, bustling by day and night – many glorious pubs and restaurants – retaining its scale, keen to avoid the extremes of out of character development, keeping its community together, committed to a comfortable relationship with each other, the hills and the town. And all this overlooked by that potent symbol of our community, White Nancy.

  • Mike was extremely welcoming and helpful. Great camping location

    James2016-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect. Mike helped us every step of the way with the booking and accommodated our every need. The field was perfect and the nearby pub the Ryles Arms was amazing. Great beer and food. Mike also arranged for a huge bell tent to be set up ready for our arrival along with a portaloo and ordered in two kegs of local 'Wincle Brewery' beer to sit in the field ready for our arrival. The 16 or so of us were very happy! Can't wait to return! Barney

  • WOW! What a setting and what a top host! We were looking for something different to do for our friends 40th and thinking of renting a big house. All the options were pricey and needed to be booked months and months in advance. Then we spotted this camping option at £8 pppn. As a group of Glastonbury veterans it seemed appropriate. Right from the off Mike was super friendly, super helpful and quick to respond. He was happy for us to call and gave the lowdown on the local pub and its great food, helped us source a portaloo, generator and festoon lighting and set up a gazebo and brazier for us to gather and stay warm in together at night. Obviously camping is always weather dependent but as long as you have the right people and the right attitude it's always fun. We got lucky. The sun was blazing and the scenery EPIC....Mike has a fair amount of land and a quick hop over a stile and through a kissing gate, past a cow and the spring lambs and you have one of the most beautiful views of the English countryside you could wish for. For friends and families alike, this is a fantastic way to explore the natural scenery without any of the disturbances of modern life. In the evenings we popped to the pub for food before gathering round the fire listening to music and having a 'few' beers. On the Sunday Mike came over and had a beer with us and stood chatting for ages. It really was a pleasure to meet him and to stay on his stunning campsite. Top marks all round!!!

    Ross2017-05-08T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! Mike and Lou made our stay perfect. Making 13 lads on a stag do feel so welcome was really appreciated. They were very helpful and this is the best air b n b experience I have ever had. From helping us sort a slip and slide (epic!), to rescuing my car out the mud on our way out, I really cannot speak highly enough of them both. Plus, Mike managed to use his local contacts to supply a generator for our music, a water pump and most importantly, the beer! The location is stunning and I will be back, but next time with my family. Simply awesome.

    Dan2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • 2nd stay in mikes field, and just as perfect as it could have been. Mike and his family were very accommodating with what we wanted to do,so our party went without a hitch. Will defiantly be back. Thoroughly recommended.

    Steven2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • We used the field on Mike's property to camp for one night. The campsite is flattest at the top of the field, which involves a short walk up hill (bear this in mind when setting up your tents and equipment). The field is usually used by sheep and their lambs, so although we were allowed to use a disposable bbq, we had to make sure that all waste was disposed of, which was a reasonable request. Use of the in-house toilet was free, but use of the shower costs £1. The owner was very helpful showing us around the property, communicated well and patient when we notified that we were arriving late from London. The Ryles Arms gastropub is a 2 minute walk and has amazing food! We used this location as it is within close proximity to several hiking trails around this area of the Peak District e.g. Shutlingsloe.

    Alvin2017-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • Mike was brilliant, he was very accommodating with our needs. Relied to messages very quickly. The camp filed was amazing, perfect for our party size. Definitely stop again.

Just one mile from the Peak District, this is a welcoming cottage nestled into the hill with beautiful views of the area. Bollington (otherwise known as "Happy Valley") is a perfect base for walks, visiting local sights and within easy distance of Manchester. Snuggle by the fire in the Winter or relax in the garden in the Summer. Great local pubs and cafés!
Here we hope you'll find a little home away from home, wether you're planing to relax or have an an action packed break. The main bedroom has lovely views of the town and across to the old mills, and you can sit out the front in the morning and watch the world go by. The larger garden is perfect for an evening BBQ and a tipple! In the sitting room you'll have all you need in the winter to get a fire going. The bed is new and snug and there is a comfy sofa bed for extra guests. This is a little but well equipped cottage, with old features but very warm and peaceful with good heating and double glazing.

  • This was a perfect location for us to visit family and friends in the area. It is a very cosy cottage with everything we needed for our stay. The Nest central heating worked really well and we supplemented it with a log fire and Netflix on the night we spent in. The kitchen is well equipped - although we mainly used it for breakfast and snacks. We really appreciated Bethany letting us have our soft city dog sleep in the kitchen as it was cold and wet outside - there were no problems with damp (as per a previous review). The steep walks from (most of) the Bollington pubs are a good bit of exercise! All great! We will hopefully have a chance to stay again...

Our apartment is located in Wincle, a small village in The Peak District National Park - a stunning location that is perfect for walking. Within 3 miles of the apartment there are 4 pubs serving great food as well as a micro-brewery, an ice cream farm and a trout fishing lake. The area offers peace and quiet for couples or solo adventurers looking to get away from it all.
The apartment was converted a few years ago in one of our barns. It consists of a large, comfortable, beamed bed-sitting room, a small separate kitchen and a shower room. It is heated by storage heaters and is double glazed. The apartment contains books, games, jigsaws, Freesat TV, DVDs and an iPod with docking station if you fancy just staying in and relaxing.
Wincle and its neighbour Danebridge straddle the River Dane where it separates Cheshire from Staffordshire. Wincle is geographically centred around the attractive St Michael's Church and adjacent village primary school, with spectacular moorland views across to the Roaches, Shutlingsloe and Hanging Stone as well as lush woodland and drystone-walled pastures. Such rich scenery and well-known pubs for eating and drinking, makes Wincle a favourite place for visitors.
  • Great place to stay for those visiting the local area. Surprisingly easy to get to from Manchester Airport. Well provisioned with all basic needs. Very attractive apartment.

  • The apartment at Bartomley Farm is pure delight. The farm is quintessentially English, set in lush, green pastures. The apartment is a lovely barn conversion, spacious and well appointed. Alison goes far beyond expectations, with generous kitchen provisions for guests, as well as a comprehensive stock of maps and guides. Alison and John offered helpful advice on what to do locally, and we enjoyed a Sunday ramble to a local pub for lunch. Bartomley Farm offers the perfect place for a relaxing stay in a beautiful part of England.

  • We had a lovely reception from Alison and her husband (and freshly-laid eggs for breakfast!) and the space was beautifully appointed, cosy and warm with plenty of books and board-games to while away the evenings. They were full of advice on local walks and activities, and the location was serene and idyllic. A wonderfully relaxing weekend!

We loved the really thoughtful touches like the fresh eggs and homemade jams as well the extra walking equipment and really helpful guides to the area. We would absolutely recommend this place.

  • Ian was very helpful in the build up to our stay, a great communicator and a lovely man. When we arrived, we met Angela who was busy baking. She showed us to Otter's Retreat, gave us a quick run through and then wished us a happy stay. Angela is one of those people you just want to give a hug to, a wonderful woman. Freshly baked cake, mulled wine, chocolates and Christmas decorations awaited us, we immediately felt at home. The photographs really don't come close to demonstrating what a beautiful home this is. Clearly a lot of thought and care goes into making everything perfect for each new set of guests. This really is a five star luxury home. The beds are super comfy, the bathrooms are huge, showers hot and spacious, the inglenook fireplace is heavenly. I was slightly worried before arriving that I would struggle to make Christmas dinner for 8. We had family visiting for the day and I wasn't in my own kitchen but I had no reason to worry. Everything I needed could be found, the oven cooked the best Yorkshire puds I've ever made!! The village of wincle is charming. We ate at The Ship a couple of times and found the food and service to be of a high standard and the atmosphere to be very cosy and relaxing. We went to the brewery one evening (on Angela and Ian's recommendation) for a carol service and I'm so pleased we did. Mince pies, mulled wine, live music and a sing along, bliss. Our son turned 3 just a week before our stay and he fell in love with our "holiday house". He managed a walk to the top of Hanging Stone one crisp fresh morning and seemed to spend most of his time standing at the gate outside the house talking and singing to the sheep, who in turn seemed to talk/sing back! Needless to say, we were sad to leave and would love to return another time. Thank again Angela and Ian. Merry Christmas! Hannah, Andrew and Benjamin.

  • Honestly one of the loveliest Airbnbs we’ve ever stayed in. Great quiet location (though only 20 mins from Macclesfield and Leek), perfectly placed for lots of walks - or to just hide away! The cottage was beautifully furnished with everything thought of. The pub just a few hundred yards away serves great food and is very welcoming. Such friendly and kind hosts - who made such as effort to make us feel at home - and to mark the fact that we were on our honeymoon.

  • Otters retreat is a truly wonderful cottage, well equipped kitchen and beautifully designed and decorated home. There are some great walks right on the doorstep, and the location is an ideal base if you are looking to go off further a field. The Ship has a fantastic menu with a very warm welcome
