  • Sally was a lovely host! The room was really comfortable and pretty. Perfect location for our costal walk, and we met Dawn French just down the road, the very next morning!

    Kyle2016-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely stay at Fowey at Sally's lodge. Perfect location, easy walk to and from the town and very easy to get to Readymoney Cove. Great amenities and very friendly host and family. Would definitely recommend people staying here over a hotel in the area. Many thanks Sally!

    Caragh2016-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was beautiful. We had everything we need in our room, it was cosy and confortable, exactly as in the picture. Sally put some board games so we played to one of them and we thought the idea of having a board game in the room was great. We enjoyed everything during our night there. The house was close to a beautiful pedestrian pathway and it was lovely to walk there. Everything was perfect.

    Tiphanie2016-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place. Sally was very welcoming and provided everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. The house has wonderful character. The room is very clean and comfortable. Great walk right outside the door, 20 mins down to Fowey. Facilities to make hot drinks and fridge with breakfast stuff was very much appreciated! Thank you

  • Cosy little apartment right in the centre of Fowey. We had a great long weekend exploring Cornwall.

    Richard2017-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • A modern, well appointed flat (apartment) reflecting the host's keen interest in sailing. Everything works and the furnishings are very tasteful. The provision of a parking space at the doorstep is a premium in the heart of Fowey; just do not drive a large car into Fowey!

    Tong Hong2017-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Great apartment in the centre of Fowey, with the added bonus of a parking space. Has all the essentials you need, thank you for a fab holiday.

  • It was exactly as expected overall a really enjoyable stay.

  • My finance and I stayed at Sarah's place during a surprise visit for Christmas this year. The apartment was in a perfect location and so homey and comfortable. Sarah was very communicative and very thoughtful...she even left us a bottle of bubbly to enjoy over the holiday. We plan to come to Fowey every few years to visit family and look forward to staying there again.

    Gigi2017-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect place to stay whilst enjoying the beautiful Fowey, it was very comfortable and had a lovely cosy feel, with everything you could possibly need, right in the heart of Fowey.... and with parking!!! We would book again in a heartbeat!

  • We had such a fab stay! Was a lovely apartment in the centre of Fowey with parking which was really useful. Great location with short distances to other places in Cornwall. The apartment was very clean and had a lovely, homely feel to it. It had everything you could need. We loved the balcony with outdoor seating area! Sarah was easy to contact if we needed to ask about anything. Would definitely recommend and is great for a couples break!

  • Georgeous little house in Fowey - a lovely village with sufficient nice pubs and restaurants. The house was carefully renovated and is very charming, with lots of carefully chosen accessories and decoration. The kitchen is superb - with Nespresso machine including coffee. It is impossible not to fall in love with this place.

  • Lovely spot to explore Cornwall from, central and great communication with hosts - we enjoyed very much

    Sarah2017-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • It is a cute compact house in a traditional Cornish town and within a stone's throw of everything you need. Driving into the town is tight as you may expect. Beds are comfy and perfect for a good night's sleep. The bathroom has been fitted tastefully but shower water can creep past the edge of the bath. Kitchen is clean and nicely done but please provide a toaster. The coffee machine worked wonders.

    Jules2016-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • We felt right at home in Chris's place. The cottage is excellently located and really well stocked throughout with lots of essential bits and bobs. We found everything that we needed and enjoyed our time here!

    Ligia2016-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely stay here. Chris is friendly and helpful. Location is as central as you can get and the house was stylishly furnished, cosy and perfect for us (couple & young toddler). Fowey is lovely & we'd stay again.

  • We had a lovely time with Lucy. The place was very clean, tidy and the room had an ensuite which was lovely. Lucy cooks a lovely breakfast. But, using the kitchen is not part of the agreement, so this is just a B&B option not somewhere you can cook your own meals too. We had a lovely time and would recommend it.

    John2017-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • Beautyful house in very nice area, quiet and comfortable, close to restaurants and the beach. Lucy has been a very friendly amd helpful host and made the best scrambled eggs for breakfast.

    Thomas2017-04-12T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a great time at Lucy's! She made the best breakfast and her recommendations and advices on activities and beautiful coast paths were so great! We will definitely come back again! Thank you Lucy for having us, we felt more than welcome and loved the room and the big bed!

    Anna2017-05-23T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Lucy's Airbnb was an absolute dream. Lucy is so friendly, engaging and approachable as a host, and really makes sure you're being looked after and that you have everything you need. Her veggie breakfasts are spectacular! The accommodation itself is stunning, impeccably clean, well furnished, homely and comfortable. And the surrounding area is so peaceful, plenty of opportunities for walks and only 10-15 minute walk from the centre of Fowey, where you can find the harbour area, plenty of shops, pubs and places to eat. You will not regret staying here, as everything is superb: the location, the accommodation, and host! Thank you Lucy for making my stay perfect.

    Lauren2017-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Lucy's BnB is situated approx. 20 mins walk to the harbour in the town. Lucy is very knowledgable about the area, and the various walking routes into town. Her apartment is immaculately clean, and she is a pleasant conversationalist who makes an enjoyable breakfast. If I am in the area again I would stay with Lucy if the room is available

    Tony2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely home, smart, modern, bright, beautiful views, great host - amazingly helpful with info on transport, walks, everything. I have been staying in Fowey for over twenty years, but now I would stay here, 10 min brisk walk up the hill. Don't hesitate to book.

    Peter2017-05-10T00:00:00Z

In a commanding position above the beautiful Fowey estuary, this traditional end-terraced coastal holiday cottage has a garden and terrace where you can relax and enjoy the sunsets, al fresco dining, or simply watching the boats glide past. The rooms boast lovely views over the Estuary. Clearview Cottage nestles on Daglands Hill with steps down to the town centre with its picturesque waterside pubs shops and restaurants. There is also a small safe beach at the mouth of the river.
Ideal for walkers - close to the Cornish coastal footpath and Saints Way. Great for water lovers with access to kayak hire, self drive boats and paddle boards. Extensive estuary and coastal wildlife. Excellent coastal fishing access and boat hire. Regular ferry services over to Polruan and Mevagissey (6 miles along the coast).
Fowey is well known as a gem of a historic Cornish coastal town with meandering narrow streets, unique quirky art shops, and a spectacular setting on the Fowey Estuary. Clearview is positioned right at the heart of the town looking directly over the 7th Century church, 15th century Place House, and beyond to the river....
  • Absolutely beautiful house in a charming town! Initially we'd only concentrated on finding somewhere accessible for the Eden Half Marathon, but the pictures on the website looked lovely, and in person the house really blew us away. And such a breathtaking view! We all regretted not planning a longer stay!

    Debbie2017-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for a cottage in a quintessential Cornwall fishing village then look no further than Lynne's delightful place. The cottage is beautifully presented and the view is to die for.

    Robyn2017-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage, great views over the estuary. Couldn't ask for anything better.

    Nigel2017-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Lynne's place is everything it appears to be with modern decor, clean, comfortable and well-equipped. Above all it has wonderful views over Fowey, including from the outside table with umbrella which we enjoyed in the sunny weather. We parked the car and didn't go back to it until we had to drag ourselves away 6 days later. We would love to go back, although for us as Australians it would be a long trip.

    Robert2017-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was very clean and cosy with beautiful views of the estuary from most windows. Location close to town centre with Fowey having many lovely eateries. No parking and location on a hill could be a problem. Fowey should reduce their weekly car park tariff !

    Pete2017-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Just moments from the harbour side and town of Fowey. This lovely cottage is perfect for anyone exploring this area of Cornwall. Situated on a pedestrian walkway (no noise) and seconds from the town. Well equipped, well furnished and looked after. Perfectly spacious for our family of 5. Amazing harbour views that changed everyday - from visiting yachts, china clay tankers and river ferries buzzing around. Thank you for a wonderful stay. Have already recommended.

    Matthew2017-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • The house was lovely, beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean with plenty of space for the five of us. We had everything we needed and really enjoyed the beautiful view over the river which we never got tired of looking at. The location was great, only a short walk into Fowey with some great cafes pubs and restaurants and thee kids especially liked the sweet and fudge shops. We had some great walks and trips to National Trust locations. many thanks

    ELizabeth2017-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage, is much bigger inside than it looks when you first arrive. Very well furnished and with everything you could possibly need. 3 good sized bedrooms. Every room has at least one window with a fantastic view of the river and all the little boats with their sails up, even had a cruise liner sail up the river one evening. Be prepared for some steep roads down to the town, they seem even steeper coming back up! Fowey is a nice little town with some good eating places and nice shops to wander round, not too far away from other places too, Mevagissey is well worth a trip, and St Austell.

Cosy cottage for couples to families, private south facing balcony with bbq, panoramic views over Fowey estuary, Private boat, 30mins from Eden project, beautiful walks and beaches on the door step.
Stunning views over the river Fowey. Amazing balcony, a real sun trap. Can be a cosy retreat for two or easily accommodate 8. Located only a stone throw from the quay which has two superb pubs and a great beach. The house is split over 3 floors; 1st floor comprises of an open plan kitchen & dining area leading through to the lounge. On the opposite side of the house this leads to a utility area with washer and dryer, then moving onward to two bunk beds and the downstairs shower and bathroom. 2nd floor is the family room with a sofa bed and a superb view across the estuary, leading off this room is a set of double doors outside to the balcony and bbq. Also on this floor is a further bunk room and another bathroom. 3rd floor is the master bedroom with ensuite shower, again with a superb aspect over the estuary. Access to the house is off East street up a flight of stairs and along the front of the property on a shared footpath. This is the ideal spot to unload luggage. There are two car parks in the village, one as you enter the village on the left hand side and St. Saviours car park further down towards the house sign posted on the left. Or alternatively there can be spaces found on the quay. All are chargeable. We recommend driving down Fore street then reversing up east street to unload, then parking is easiest at St Saviours.
Beautiful scenery, great walking, excellent restaurants, superb beaches and water activities.
  • Great house , great location and fantastic views. Ross was also a great host really nice, honest guy. I would definetley stay her again , we had a great time. The Ship Inn is a lovely restaurant and pub, 2 minutes walk away, totally recommended food amazing.Catch the ferry (boat) over to Fowey as this is a lovely place also, lots of places to eat shop etc. the views from the bacon day and night breathtaking...... Thanks Ross

  • Lovely place 5 minutes walk from the quay on the "sunny side" of the Fowey River. Cosy and clean, with everything you need.

    Matt2017-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our weekend here, it had the most stunning view and was just a lovely place, very cosy! Ross was fantastic- very quick to respond to any questions I had about the area or about the property. We had a fantastic time and would definitely recommend coming here! Thank you!

    Max2017-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Ross was always available to organise arrival time and entry. The house was great - spacious with everything you would want to make your stay comfortable and relaxing. Great location in Polruan with fantastic views. Only regret is we weren't staying longer.

    simon2017-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place to stay Need to be fit to do the steps and the hill back up to do cars in carpark The kids loved the foot ferry and chips from the pub We ate out at the lugger beautiful food and plenty of it

    Laura2017-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed with 6 family members in the property , it is compact for 7 adults but we had enough room for everything we needed. Balcony on the 2nd floor has views to die for, a lovely outside area to socialize in. No problem with the property and had a lovely stay, just what we all needed. Ross was brilliant, had a slight problem with the window, which we sorted it out very quickly, 5 star rating for Ross. About the area around the property - step and step hills, but that is Cornwall for you, the pubs in Polruan, the lugger very very nice, but book before you come, the other one was a little average. Very much worth going over to the other side of Fowey on the boat. Had a very very lovely time in the area and home, would recommend to anyone to stay , thank you Ross

1 Albert Place is nestled a stone’s throw from the water’s edge, in the popular Cornish town of Fowey. Set off the main street down a private alleyway, it is minutes shops, restaurants, pubs and beaches. You also have free use of a pool and hot tub.
Our cottage has been lovingly restored since we became the owners in 2011 and has a slate stone floor plus a fairy lit slate and lime feature wall, as well as sash windows throughout. Modern touches include a jacuzzi bath and underfloor heating. We also offer free membership to the exclusive Fowey Hall Hotel swimming pool and spa, just a 10 minute walk away, and the only one in an 8 mile radius. There is one double bedroom, and one bedroom with full size bunk beds - plus a double sofa bed downstairs. We also have dining table and comfy corner sofa. The bathroom includes a jacuzzi bath plus shower. All sheets and towels are 100% Egyptian cotton. The whole place had a bright yet cosy feel to it, and is lit with vintage marine lights from our shop Any Old Lights We also have wifi and broadband, and because mobile reception is unreliable have a landline phone for guests as well
Fowey is a special part of Cornwall. It's a bustling seaside and fishing town with many shops, pubs and restaurants - but is also very close to beaches, woodland and spectacular cliff walks. It's a friendly community and do please`ask if there is anything you need as we have links with many local businesses and will be able to help.
  • Wonderfully easy check in, Sinead offered to arrange taxis for us which was a generous thing for her to do. When we arrived everything was spotless, beds made, towels ready and the porch light was on for us to find the cottage easily. The scenery was just mind blowing and would recommend walking up to st Catherine's castle, and spend some time on the nice and secluded readymoney cove. You can't stay there without getting breakfast from the bakery across the street, as it is fantastic and smells delicious. Fowey was just beautiful and we will definitely be returning when the sun comes out!

    Matt2017-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • My family and I had a wonderful week in Fowey which was made all the more special by this lovely cottage. The location of the cottage is right in the middle of town which was ideal for us to get out and about. The cottage has a homely feel with all the comforts of home. We recommend this cottage and Fowey to families and couples alike. Thanks Sinead.

    Amanda2016-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Great value cottage in a great central position. Lovely gesture of a loaf fresh from The Quay bakery opposite. We loved it for its calm quiet position.

    suzanne2018-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage set in a stunning part of Cornwall. Sinead met us with keys an hour earlier than check in (as we'd arrived earlier than expected-very kind) and gave us a quick tour of the accommodation. The cottage had everything we needed to be a home from home - cooker, fridge, microwave, DVD player, nicely decorated, fast wifi. The location is in the centre of the town so you'll find many excellent pubs, shops, restaurants, bakeries etc just a 2 minutes walk from your front door. This was our first trip to Fowey and it is a very special town with so much to see and do. Really recommend kayaking in the river (even if you're not sailors), Mackerel fishing with Dan departing from White House, early morning jog up to St Catherine's castle, everything sold at Kittow delicatessen but just as great is grabbing a coffee from LJK and a muffin from quay bakery (coconut & cherry my choice) then sitting in the quay watching the water. Had a great week.

  • This is a cute cottage in the heart of Fowey. The house has all the necessary amenities to make us feel welcome. Communication with Sinead was very easy and it was great she was only a text away if we needed anything. Easy access to pubs, restaurants, boutique shops and boots. I wold highly recommend this cottage and we hope to stay again.

    Rosemary2015-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • A great little place situated in the centre of Fowey. Very clean and quipped for a short stay. Had the bonus of the start of the Christmas market so always a thumbs up. Sinead responded to our questions quickly and great recommendations. We are hoping to come back in the new year.

    Tia2017-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic location and excellent value for money! The cottage was spotless on our arrival and had everything we required for our stay. We did not find unloading the car to be an issue. The underfloor heating was great in the mornings. The complimentary bread is delicious, we went to the bakery for more. The free access to the pool and hot tub at Fowey hall hotel is brilliant, what a view! We will certainly be back.

Ebb Tide is a small modern end terrace house. Upstairs is 1 double bedroom and twin bedroom with family bathroom (shower). Downstairs is an open kitchen diner and lounge and a further toilet. Ebb Tide has a small secluded patio with a table, chairs and a barbecue. The house is situated in gardens which lead to the private parking space. Ebb Tide is moments from the town centre in Fowey. It has smoke and Carbon monoxide alarms and registered with Fire Safety. Dogs accepted, charge is £30 a pet.
Towels and linens included in the price but please bring your own beach towels.
We are just a short walk down to the town centre. There you will find restaurants, cafes, boat hire, the Polruan ferry etc.
  • The location of the house is near the sea. In addition, the house is well equipped, there are washing machine, dishwasher and card games. We had a great time there.

    Shujie2017-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Ebb Tide is a quiet, comfortable and roomy house just a 5 minute walk from the lovely town of Fowey. The walk back up the hill takes a minute or two more! We stayed 5 nights, which was about the right length. It's in a very quiet position and we slept very well. We would highly recommend the house and the town of Fowey.

    Mike2017-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time at Ebb Tide. The cottage was cosy, comfortable and had everything we needed. And was in the heart of Fowey much closer than we had expected.

  • This is a good sized house for a family with two young children, or, like us an elderly relative. Very clean, well presented with modern furnishings. Small but secure patio garden suitable for young children or pets. If like me you forget your hairdryer you can find one in the drawers of the second bedroom. Excellent communication response from owner. Full size oven not just microwave. Easy access to town but recommend non-slip flat shoes for return walk back up extremely steep hill - with breaks my 90 yr old Dad managed it once a day. Great local walks. Highly delighted with how dog friendly Fowey is, even the butcher, the chip shop and the two local ‘corner’ shops. Thoroughly enjoyed our little escape.

Come and enjoy River Views in Fowey, a relaxing and peaceful home from home, perfect for a holiday with family or friends, or for a romantic break for two. The wonderful views in this stylish apartment draw visitors back time and again.
River Views has amazing views of the River Fowey to the village of Bodinnick
The centre of Fowey has hardly changed for generations with its quirky narrow streets and mix of independent shops
  • Super clean and cosy apartment in a charming little Fowey. Sarah and her husband Neal took care of our family, were helpful with tips for restaurants, trips and walks around. We loved the atmosphere of "attic" mood of the apartment with a terrific river view. So sorry to leave:)

    Marta2016-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place. Everything was as described if not better. The views and location are stunning. Our whole family had a great stay and would not hesitate to book again.

    Simon2016-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment lived up to expectations from a previous visit and the weather held up, so all in all a very enjoyable stay

    patricia2017-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah was a really helpful host. The arrival instructions were clear and concise and the apartment easy to find. We had everything we needed. The views of the river from the lounge and kitchen are really fantastic and the bedrooms peaceful. We had a great stay - thank you so much.

    Kate2016-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • Good location and lovely views from a warm and cosy apartment.

    Paul2017-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • This was such a comfortable, attractively furnished and well-equipped property. The location is ideal and the views of the river are really beautiful. I just wish we could have stayed longer.

    Clara2017-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • The location is excellent. There is enough room outside to unload the car and then it is only 200 yards to nearest car park where we left the car for three days. It was £8 per day to park. From River Views it is a five minute walk or ten minute stroll to the centre of Fowey. Once inside the house, the view of the river is fantastic and we sat looking out of the open french doors every day, even in the evening when we returned from dinner. The house was generally clean and tidy and as it was just to two of us, we slept upstairs to keep everything on one floor rather than going downstairs to use the double bedroom. The kitchen is functional and even though I am 6'2", I managed to cope with the roof beams that are quite low. It is a really peaceful place to stay and I would certainly book it again.

    STEVE2017-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely place! We enjoyed reading and watching boats on the river from the living room, wandering into Fowey for morning pastries from the Quay bakery and for a fantastic dinner at Q just down the lane. A great base, really handy for the town, the ferries and some beautiful walks. Highly recommend!

Our room was decorated beautifully, the bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was modern and luxurious. We really enjoyed our stay here which was completed with a lovely breakfast the next morning; a continental breakfast and scrambled eggs on toast.

  • What a wonderful appartment, its tucked away but in the middle of everything ! Even when we arrived we did have a problem finding it but a phone call to jayne and she guided us straight to it . Fowey is a fantastic place, our only downfall was that three days wasnt long enough. Our hosts were brilliant explaining everything about the appartment , places to go and places to eat . The parking wasnt fantastic we did have quite a walk back to the appartment ! We had good weather too. Many thanks . From Simon and Katie Hillery

  • We had a fantastic time in Fowey and had the perfect bolt hole in The Sail Loft. The apartment was right bang in the middle but still felt really peaceful. It was clean, warm and comfortable. It is a great size for a couple and the 2 bathrooms were a bonus! David and Jayne were great in communications and took care of everything so that we could relax and have a good time. We cannot wait to get back to Fowey and to the Sail Loft. Fowey is an oasis near the coastline of Cornwall. Absolutely brilliant experience all around.

There are two pubs and two cafes in the village offering a variety of meals. Polruan is on the South West Coast Path as well as accessible to beautiful scenic walks around the village, in particular the Hall Walk can be enjoyed along with a walk to Lantic Bay about an hour away. Many boat trips are available, in particular a sailing experience along the coastline aboard 'Pettifox' is a must. Polruan is also a good place to base yourself for a visit to the Eden Centre, which is just 9.2 miles via the Boddinick car ferry.

The Salt Loft is a beautifully appointed one bedroom apartment nestled just 30 metres from the Quay. Situated in the heart of Fowey, yet hidden away with its own secure entrance. The newly professionally designed Salt Loft has been lovingly refurbished with exquisite attention to detail and lavish furnishings. Local Parking Offer Availble - read below for more details.
Two flights of white marble stairs lead to the apartment, which faces south. The large, 22 ft L-shaped contemporary living/dining room is furnished to a very high standard with a "New York Loft" theme, yet still commanding a chic & cozy feel with brand new 43" high definition smart TV. The kitchen is fully equipped to meet all your needs and the bedroom has a king size glamorous bed again with another high definition 32" smart TV. PARKING As we are in central Fowey, we do not have parking at the apartment. However, if you’re staying for 7 nights or more, we are happy to reimburse the cost of your parking at either Caffa Mill or Main car park. The car parks are run by Cornwall Council, and a weekly pass is £42. This can be purchased in advance via their website, or on arrival using the JustPark app. During your stay, simply pop into the office - we are opposite the apartment - and we will refund the parking. As not everyone brings a car to Fowey, please make us aware at the time of booking if this is something you are interested in.
FOOD & DRINK You certainly won’t go hungry while in Fowey - see below for our list of favourite places to eat out in Fowey. Evening Meals: The Quay House Hotel, The Globe and King of Prussia Family Friendly: Sams, The Gaeollon and Haveners Cafes, Lunch & Light Bites: Brown Sugar, Pinky Murphy, The Lifebouy and Pintxo Tea Rooms: The Dwelling House and The Well House International: Tai Pan and Sunny Spice SHOPPING There are several well-loved brand stores in Fowey (Sea Salt, Joules, Fat Face, and Mountain Warehouse) but its real charm lies with the wide range of boutique, unique and independent shops. Spend hours browsing them for clothes, homewares, crafts, glassware, art, antiques, books, seaside knick-knacks, traditional children toys and don't forget the old fashioned sweet shop! There are also several bakeries and the fabulous Kittows deli. With two local stores, there may be no supermarket in Fowey, but you'll still find everything you need here. And all the major supermarkets will deliver online shopping to The Salt Loft as well. THINGS TO SEE & DO In the centre of Fowey there is also a sweet little aquarium, and a local museum – both are worth a peek! Fowey has a 14th church and a 15th century castle fort. There are a variety of activities on the water, ranging from organised boat trips to canoe hire. The closest permanent is Ready Money Cove, which has clean sands and is perfect for swimming. There is also a tidal sea-pool hidden away at the Whitehouse Pier! Within a five-ten minute drive, you can be at Polkerris beach and Par Sands, and within a half hour drive there is Carlyon Bay, Charlestown, Porthpean, Pentewan and Mevagissey. There are many thousands of miles of fantastic walks in Cornwall. The South West Coastal Path alone winds 630 miles around the county, and The Saints Way is 27 miles from Fowey on the south coast, right across to Padstow on the north coast. The Fowey Hall Walk is much more manageable at 4 miles! Whether you enjoy the sea, woods, rivers, moors or fields, you will not be disappointed with the walks in Cornwall. The closest major attractions are The Eden Project and The Lost Gardens Of Heligan. They really do have something for everyone and make a most enjoyable day out for child and adults. For the green-fingered travellers, there are also many other great gardens - in fact, there are 12 Great Gardens of Cornwall! If you’re looking for somewhere for the kids, check out Camel Creek, Springfields, Dairyland, Kidzworld at Cornucopia, Indoor Active, Newquay Zoo or Porfell Wildlife Centre.A small list of the many hundreds of places for families to visit! Cornwall also has many wonderful National Trust and English Heritage sites.
  • Lovely seaside abode!

    Alice2017-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • We have stayed in Salt Loft many times under the previous ownership and it is the perfect place to stay in Fowey. Centrally located yet very quiet, and such a comfortable apartment. Everything is high quality and spotlessly clean, with one of the most comfortable beds you could wish to sleep in. Parking in Fowey is severely restricted, so you'll need to buy a car parking pass. A weekly pass for Caffa Mill is £45, but this can be used at quite a few car parks around Cornwall. However, this is expensive for just a short break, so we bought a pass for Station Yard car park, at £5 per night. Both can be bought in the Tourist Office in Fowey.

If you like the idea of open plan loft living then Stargazer's 35 ft long studio apartment offers ample room to relax, in Polruan with great views of Cornwall's sailing town of Fowey and the river on one side, and the English Channel on the other.
The apartment offers bright, clean and spacious accommodation ideal for a couple, with an additional daybed for one extra guest. We accept bookings for any length of stay. Stargazer is at the top of School Lane in Polruan with the entrance off St Saviour's Hill. The apartment is within 20 steps of the South West Coast Path to Polperro and a few minutes walk from the Polruan quay where you can take the ferry to Fowey. Through the gate you enter a quiet courtyard with steps up to the balcony and entrance door. The courtyard is yours to make use of during your stay and the balcony is a south facing sun trap ideal for watching the ships go by. Once inside you will find a fully fitted bathroom, there is a bath with shower over, hand basin and heated towel rail. On the same floor is the kitchen/diner with electric cooker, microwave, kettle, fridge and everything you need to cater for yourselves. Both rooms have beautiful uninterrupted sea views and catch the sun all day. Upstairs you will find the loft studio with double bed with a new orthopaedic mattress for 2015, daybed, comfortable lounge seating and a study area with desk. There is a TV with freeview channels. The five roof skylights bring in plenty of light and offer 360 degree views. On a clear night Stargazer earns the name as you can study the star-filled sky stretching far out to sea.
We live on the South West Coast path in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and our village has beautiful walks through the woods and along the coast. The sailing town of Fowey is a 5 minute ferry ride away with lovely shops and restaurants. The most beautiful beach at Lantic Bay is about an hour's walk away, or a short boat ride, and you can continue on to picturesque Polperro and Looe - both also reachable by car or boat. Bodmin Moor is a drive away offering fantastic walks and wild scenery. Polruan is a friendly village and an ideal place from which to explore all aspects of life in Cornwall, walking, sailing, fishing, surfing, lounging on the beach, eating great local food and clotted cream teas.
  • Tranquil and calming place to be. Away from it all. Stunning views.

  • My boyfriend and I had a wonderful whistle stop stay at the beautiful Stargazer. We stayed for two nights and really enjoyed the loft's wonderful views both of Fowey and of the open sea. Being so close to the coastal path was really great - I would especially recommend the walk to Lantic Bay, which on a sunny day makes it hard to believe you are still in England! Sonia was a very warm and welcoming host and the accommodation itself was lovely and private and very clean. We would definitely stay again. Vicki and Jack

  • Tony and Sonia kept in touch with us prior to our visit and left us the key. We found the apartment easily and made ourselves comfortable in the beautiful apartment. It looks just like the photos and is a perfect bijou little gem. We enjoyed the solitude of the out of season break and the fact that it was real and genuinely welcoming. Everyone was very friendly. We would definitely return as it now holds special memories for us. Thanks you Tony and Sonia for providing an excellent setting for our celebrations.

  • This beautiful loft 5 minutes' walk from Polruan' pubs, café and ferry. The views are amazing and the loft is beautifully decorated, has everything you need and feels a real home from home. We had a trip we will never forget!

  • Beautiful place, beautiful surroundings. Apartment is in excellent location, and place is even better than pictures. Kitchen fully equipped, and Sonia and Tony very helpful from beggining to end. Good for exploring surroundings. If you plan on visiting Fowey (worth the visit for certain) remember there´s a ferry from the port (pedestrians only), and a couple of miles north theres a ferry for cars.

    Jose 2016-05-16T00:00:00Z
  • We loved Stargazer. It was in a great location, but be prepared for some hill walking. Sonia and Tony were very communicative, the property exactly as specified, although actually better to see than the pictures portray. Polruan and Fowey are beautiful and there are good sights in the areas.

    Lee2017-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • My daughter and I had a lovely time in Sonia's loft flat in Polruan. Its just as the pictures are presented - really light, spacious, attractive and with everything you need for a holiday. The views are amazing and it was great to sit on the balcony in the evening. We were lucky with the weather too and the local area is gorgeous. Thank you! Would love to return.

  • Wonderful huge place with amazing views of the river and hills and very nice hosts. We had a nice meal at the Fisherman's Inn and we could take little foxy, the dog, with us. We are moving to Cornwall this week and won't be able to stay there anymore unfortunately. However, i will recommend it to my friends. We loved the afternoons in the conservatory with the astonishing views and a cuppa and a beautiful sunset!!

  • Great place for a family or group of friends. Loads of space and room, good selection of books, games and vid/CDs - Fab break. Hopefully we will be back - perhaps with better walking weather! Very warm and cosy - no need for hot water bottles even in January. The views were atmospheric whatever the heavens threw - especially from the ginservatory!

  • John and Gerri were great hosts. Very friendly and made themselves constantly available if needed or if we had a problem (not that we did). The place is amazing and the photos don't it it the justice it deserves. Fantastic views and the most peaceful and relaxing few days we have had for a while. Would definitely stay again.

  • This is hands down the nicest air bnb property we have ever stayed in. Amazing hosts ..Amazing house with fantastic views and incredible value. John and Geraldine are so helpful and friendly and have thought of everything and more. The beds are super comfy and the room layouts meant that even with a family of 8 over Xmas we all had our own space although we did fight over the conservatory with stunning outlook over a lovely landscaped garden and the river Fowey . A lovely scenic walk down to the Fisherman's Arms where everyone was really friendly and the food was excellent . We are already planning a return trip ..Thank you John and Geraldine...superb !

  • This is the most beautiful home, It’s perfect for a chilled out retreat. The views over the estuary are stunning, the village is peaceful and the hill definitely adds a spot of exercise. We would love to revisit in the future.

  • We had a fantastic stay at St Cloud. Our hosts were welcoming and helpful and the accommodation was outstanding with beautiful views over the river. The house was extremely spacious and ideal for a large family or group. As we have family nearby, we will certainly be booking here again on our next visit. 5*****

Gypsy wagon at Tidal Waters overlooking Penpoll Creek (CLOSED for Winter)
This is a genuine gypsy wagon positioned on private land at Tidal Waters, overlooking Penpoll Creek. Located in the peaceful hamlet of Penpoll, on the east side of the Fowey Estuary, it is the ideal base for exploring the north and south coasts of Cornwall. Tidal Waters is a small bungalow set in lovely gardens with water frontage to the creek where you can safely swim, row and launch boats. There is a private mooring for a dinghy at the property with gravel river bed and easy direct access. The mooring is suitable for small motorboats, dinghies, canoes and kayaks. 4G mobile phone coverage is available in the wagon and superfast broadband Wifi in Tidal Waters. There is space for camping if families would like to use the wagon and pitch an additional tent. There's a two person Kayak and small rowing boat for guests to use to visit Fowey, Polruan, Bodinnick, Golant, Lerryn and Lostwithiel by river (tides allowing). Surrounded by wildlife, there are kingfishers, otters, fish, swallows, swans, ducks and even a goose on the river. Penpoll provides easy access to the beautiful beaches at Lansallos and Lantic Bay and a short hop across the river by ferry to Fowey. There are great village pubs, shops and local events at Bodinnick, Lerryn, Lostwithiel and Pelynt. Guests have use of Tidal Waters for showers, baths, cooking facilities, Wifi and general needs. The main bathroom is shared and a new shower/toilet planned for 2018.
Penpoll is a very peaceful hamlet in a rural traditional farming area. Surrounded by wooded valleys, rivers and creeks, it is a haven for wildlife. Just inland from the coastal strip, Penpoll is an ideal location for visiting the towns and villages, as well as walking the SW coastal path and exploring the area. The whole Fowey estuary area is amazing. Some of the best places to visit and things to do include... Lansallos beach, Lantic Bay and Lantivet Bay (beaches), Readymoney Cove (beach), Talland Bay (beach/cafe). Kayaking on Penpoll Creek (two person kayak at Tidal Waters), horse riding/pony trekking (Polmartin stables), wild swimming in the river (Penpoll Creek). Eden Project, Lanhydrock House (National Trust), Lost Gardens of Heligan. Duchy of Cornwall garden centre/cafe/restaurant and Restormel castle (Lostwithiel). Walks along Ethy Woods (Lerryn), Hall Walk (Bodinnick to Polruan), SW Coastal footpath, Bodmin Moor and Golitha Falls, plus The Saints' Way (Padstow to Fowey). Fowey and Polruan (historic town/village), Lostwithiel (antiques/historic village), Polperro and Polkerris (fishing villages).
  • The caravan the village and Alison are adorable and a little eccentric which made the whole experience just lovely. The caravan is great but tiny.

    Angela2017-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • A remote location at the head of the creek makes for a peaceful and picturesque setting with an old stone bridge as the centrepiece. Went to sleep in the gypsy caravan to the sound of hooting owls and a full moon casting light across the water. The sleeping arrangements are cosy and not suited to those that like to stretch out or taller than 6ft. An ideal base for exploring the upper reaches of the Fowey River by canoe. Alison is a great host and a font of local knowledge.

Our relationship with Polruan goes right back to WW2. The village means a lot to us and we'd like to share the story of how we got here.. In 1939, there was a little boy named Gordon. Gordon lived in London - he had never seen the sea before, and he certainly hadn't been to Cornwall. One day, Gordon was told he had to leave London, and move away without his parents. Suddenly he was alone, a very long way from home, without anyone he knew. But the village of Polruan welcomed Gordon and gave him happy memories, laughter and friends. After many years, Gordon went back to London - but by this time Polruan was his home, and he left a piece of his heart behind. Gordon is our grandfather - and thankfully he made sure, that we all gave a piece of our heart to the village where he grew up. We love this village - and we can't wait for you to visit. But hold on to your heart - as you may leave a piece behind.
  • Hannah communicated very promptly and was very detailed at providing instructions. The house was clean, well organised and very cute. The decorations are exactly as in the photos. The kitchen was also very well stocked and the local store had everything else you needed in case you wanted to spend the night in.

    Davina2016-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Hannah was great from the initial booking to the end of our stay in her wonderful cottage..:loved every moment, just sad that we had to leave early...but will be back.

  • Hannah is a great host! Ember cottage is wonderful! It's a large, very well equipped cottage - the view from the terrace is more then beautiful. Highly recommended!!!!

    Simon2017-04-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time staying at this fabulous cottage. The location is great, shop, cafe, lovely pub and beach all seconds away. The cottage itself is lovely, everything we needed and all brand new! We were sad to leave. Hannah is a great host, highly recommended all round. We will be back!

    Ashley2016-03-30T00:00:00Z
  • Very much enjoyed our stay at Ember Cottage. The location was perfect and the cottage was cosy, comfortable and well equipped. Beautiful views views of the estuary from the garden. Hannah is a great host, she has done a great job of renovating the house and was helpful and quick to respond to any questions we had.

    Rebecca2016-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • The house was very nice and true to the pictures, we had a great time on holiday here and the house itself is right in the centre of a very traditional Cornish village and the village shop is so near to the house so very handy! Although we did not meet Hannah in person she seemed very nice and was very quick in resolving any issues and her housekeeper Michelle was very helpful! One thing I would recommend though is to take a little fan as it can get a bit hot, however we were there in July! There were also some essential food items in the cupboard when we arrived like pasta and tea bags which we found very useful!

A pretty 2 bedroom home with lots of lovely features including a bright blue aga, log burning stove and garden. Views of the river from the garden over historic Place and St Fimbarrus Church. Perfectly located for enjoying Fowey. Use of local hotel swimming pool and hot tub is included in your stay.
Fowey is set in an area of outstanding natural beauty, the town hangs off the west side of the Fowey estuary where the large, deep water harbour is a magnet for sailing fans. As you walk the ever narrowing streets of the old town where mediaeval and Georgian buildings cast shadows over each other, a vibrant maritime history comes to life. Lining the main Fore Street you will find many small, independent shops selling unusual gifts, artwork, clothing and books. If you’re a foodie then Fowey is home to many bistros, cafes and restaurants where you’ll find menus offering the best in local produce – Fowey River mussels are a highlight. Membership of Fowey Hall Hotel is included in your stay, you will find full details on your arrival at the house. About how to access the swimming pool and hot tub.
  • The location was absolutely fabulous! There was a little hill to climb, but I couldn't ask for more in terms of the property and the location. It exceeded my expectations. The property was very clean and had everything we needed. The kitchen is wonderful particularly the aga, plenty of cooking utensils and pans etc for a lovely dinner in. Good washing machine, hairdryer etc. The bedrooms are spacious and well appointed (the master bedroom has an incredible view) and the bathroom is very nicely renovated. The lounge room was very comfortable and had dvd's if desired (we didn't use but nice to see). Would love to stay here again!

  • Jasmine Cottage is a wonderfully cozy house in the heart of Fowey, just a couple of minutes walk into the centre. It is very well equipped and extremely comfortable. The use of the Spa at Fowey Hall is an additional bonus. Would highly recommend!

    Ann2017-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Myself and my boyfriend absolutely loved our stay at this beautiful cottage. It is even better than the pics and really is perfect in every way. Even though it's in a brilliant, central location just a few mins walk to shops, pubs and great restaurants, it still feels so secluded, cosy and is quiet at night. The bed was super comfy - all lovely bedding and amazing bathroom - great shower and gorgeous roll top bath. We were v lucky with weather and enjoyed sitting out on the terrace some evenings.the tv and DVD player work v easily and there is a cupboard with lots of board games and lots of books to read. Kitchen is wonderful although we didn't cook that much as local restaurants are so nice. Defo recommend going to Sams..you can't book so we had cocktails in the bar upstairs then our table was ready after about 40 mins - the bouillabaisse was superb!! We used the local hotel pool and hot tub which was a fab and unexpected addition. We loved driving out to a few different beaches and really recommend Carlyon Bay - a short drive away and so lovely. Also went on a local fishing trip which was fun and rented a boat one day which was great fun! We had an amazing stay - would recommend this place to families, couples and for a solo trip - it's a real haven in the magical town of Fowey.

    Daniela2017-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in Fowey after a week in London and it was the perfect end to the trip. We found the house was close to the village and the pub across the road was a bonus.

2 bed flat in popular Cornish town of Fowey. Amazing view of river and sea, in a converted 19th century coach house. Parking included & spacious balcony. 5 mins town, 2 mins beach. Babysitters available. We have welcomed international guests from many different countries since 1980 when my parents first ran a guesthouse from the family home. The flats were converted in 2008 to self contained units.
You won't find a view like this anywhere else in Fowey! There is one double room and one twin room, with spacious and comfortable kitchen/diner area. There is a sofa bed downstairs.
Fowey is a very special Cornish town, bustling with shops, pubs and restaurants but with spectacular coastal walks and beaches You are three miles from the world famous Eden Project
  • Lovely location with great views

  • Excellent well equipped apartment with absolutely stunning views over the estuary. On site parking was very handy and only a 5 minute walk to the shops/restaurants. The detailed welcome pack has all the information you require, Sinead the owner was also very helpful and made sure we had everything we needed during our stay.

    Shannon2017-04-07T00:00:00Z
  • Very welcoming host. Lovely flat. Fantastic views. Think though you should say that you could be staying in one of two flats before people book. The main photo is not of the balcony we had in fact there is only one photo in the small photos of the flat we stayed in and that was the smaller balcony. It did not spoil our week at all but some people could be disappointed as it is presumed you are staying in the flat that is advertised

    Elizabeth2015-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • Tullow House is beautifully positioned and well equipped with a kitchen/Living space , hall and loo (downstairs), 2 small bedrooms and a bathroom (upstairs. It has a wonderful sunshine 'breakfast' balcony over looking the estuary. The house is a short walk from Fowey Centre - which has a few nice pubs and small businesses (no big chains here!) and only one ATM. We thought the food and drink at THE KING OF PRUSSIA was easily the best. If you buy a meal at The LUGGERS INN then I suggest you get one meal and 2 plates as it is far too much for one person to eat. I would suggest avoiding The GALLEON as the beer was cloudy and the menu was poor (and yet so many of the holiday punters seem to like it). The position of Tullow House is also fantastic for walks along the coastal path. There is a lovely small beach 10 mins away. Don't miss the short ferry across the estuary to Polruan. Amazing view from the peak. There is also a car ferry which gives access to Looe and Polperrin. All in all - a fantastic place/location to stay and I could easily live there and watch the view all day.

  • This house is magnificent - large, beautifully decorated, very comfortable, all conveniences and appliances, fantastic view, outdoor sunroom and deck, good position and Sara was a great host, very helpful and knowledgable about the area. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend to anyone.

  • What a beautiful place and fantastic host! The house is very comfortable and brilliantly located, full of gorgeous furniture and artwork. We loved the cosy aga, window seat, summerhouse over the water and the kids' reading nook under the stairs. Perfect place to start the 'Hall Walk' to Polruan from. Really hope to come back one day.

  • A charming home in a fantastic spot on the Fowey estuary. If anything, the photos don't do it justice! We had a really lovely stay, Sara is a great host.

  • This is a beautiful house with a lovely host who has thought of everything to make your stay easy and comfortable. It felt like a home from home. Beautiful views over the estuary. We watched the ferry go back and forth endlessly. The Aga is fabulous, easy to use and kept the house super warm. Beds comfy with nice white linen. Bring loads of £ coins to feed the meter in the car park. Loads to explore. Great pubs, shame about the tourists!

    Jo2017-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • The photos dont do this place justice! 4 of us stayed here in June for 3 nights to attend a wedding in the area. Sara's house was perfect for us due to its central location and lovely outdoor areas to eat and drink. Both the double rooms were bright with plenty of room and storage. We met with Sara on arrival who showed us around and left us to it. Would definitely stay here again. Sara is a great host.

    Leanne2017-06-05T00:00:00Z
  • Sara was a fantastic host who made sure we felt welcome and given all necessary information, including excellent recommendations for restaurants and activities. The house is gorgeous and the view from all the rooms was incredible, will definitely be coming back here! All the locals were very nice and friendly, we recommend the boat trip and sea life centre as fun activities. Fowey is a charming place and full of character, especially Sam's, a bar thats definitely a must do.

    Ryan2016-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • Wow. What a lovely, calm, relaxing place...But wait there's more... Absolutely stunning views, with early morning sun as you look out over the river Fowey. Beautifully decorated, impeccably clean, everything you need to cook, wine, dine, inside or out (breakfast table, balcony or terrace next to river). Public car park 50m away from the front door, and easy stroll into town. Very highly recommended, best Airbnb property any of our group of 4 have stayed in. NT

  • We had a great weekend in Fowey staying here. It's a beautiful house, with comfy furniture and bed (we only used one, but assume the other is too!) a well stocked kitchen and great views of the river from everywhere. Even though we were only there for two days it quickly felt like home away from home. Would highly recommend it and hope to be back again sometime.

  • What amazing hosts! Jane and Alan were fantastic and went above and beyond during our stay. We had everything we needed and more. We wouldn't normally opt for a 'room in a house' option in favour of a private apartment but this experience has changed our minds as it was very private with an en-suite bathroom and perfectly situated with remarkable views. Their flare for interior design makes the accommodation welcoming and extremely comfortable. We would have no hesitation in recommending this to fellow travellers.

Jane left a beautiful basket of pastries and fruit for breakfast and there were thoughtful touches, snacks, fruit, nuts and a glass of port

Welcome to our home. A cosy single en suit room overlooking quiet garden.Delicious breakfast in our sunny kitchen. Set in the heart of old Cornish village with stunning views of ocean and river, 2 pubs & wonderful coastal walks to wild beaches. Ideal base for visiting the Eden Project.
Cosy and perfect for some one traveling on their own, overlooking a quiet garden. Price includes delicious breakfast. We do have a dog but she is not allowed upstairs or around the guests at breakfast time.
Polruan is situated at the mouth of the Fowey River accessed by small country roads. From the top of the hill on one side you can look down to the harbour and across to Fowey or turn around and look out to sea. In the summer there are often sailing boats to watch. The village has little narrow streets to explore and is on the South West Coast path. Polruan is a lovely place to relax especially sitting on the quay watching the comings and goings on the river, with occasional dolphin sightings.

  • Bella was a very warm and hospitable host & the room was very clean and comfortable. I would definitely recommend.

  • Fantastic spot in Polruan across the water from Fowey, everything went smoothly - great nights sleep and Bella is a fab host! Hearty breakfast before I continued on my walk. Many thanks Bella!

  • Lovely B and B. Bella very friendly and welcoming. Real milk for a cup of tea. Would highly recommend

  • Always a pleasure at the Hormand House! The friendliest family, an excellent breakfast, and Bella is one of the loveliest people you'll ever meet. If you don't stay, you're missing out!

  • So lovely and welcoming, very friendly and relaxing. The location is stunningly scenic and beautiful. There are narrow and steep roads (as to be expected for the area) so make sure you can handle hills before you arrive! I went to the local pub for an evening meal (best to book) and took the taxi over to Fowey and back. Everyone I met (including the dog) was very friendly. Great for a quick break away.

    Vikki-Jo2017-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • A truly wonderful B&B! Wake up to the smell of breakfast cooking, seagulls flying overhead, and walk out the front door knowing you're just a short stroll from the gorgeous Cornish coast. But if that doesn't sell you alone, Bella certainly will; a lovely host, who will make you feel like you haven't even left home! Would absolutely stay again and recommend.

    Charity2017-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely B&B well situated for the coastal path. I was woken early by noisy seagulls but I guess that comes with the territory. Great breakfast and very welcoming host.

Pretty fisherman's cottage in friendly village of Golant on the bank of the Fowey River. Sleeps 2 in luxury and comfort. Well equipped. Winding stairs. Sun trap garden. Private parking nearby. Fabulous local pub nearby. Eden Project only 10 minutes drive. Local kayak hire.
Sky Cottage is a beautifully restored fisherman's cottage built in around 1850, it is the perfect spot from which to explore Cornwall. Located in the very pretty riverside village of Golant-by-Fowey. Furnished to a very high standard with large comfy leather sofa and tub chair in the lounge, oak floors, wood-burning stove with unlimited dry logs provided. The airy bedroom with exposed beams and twinkle lighting has a king-sized 5' bedstead with good mattress, topper, and quality bed linen, lovely soft towels are also provided. The lounge has a 'smart' digital TV with Free View and Netflix (logged in ready for you) and there is a DVD player with many DVDs provided. The bedroom TV is digital with Free View . There is free Wi-Fi. A well equipped kitchen with dishwasher, microwave and fridge freezer, (no washing machine - local laundry only 3 miles) Within the village there is Kayak hire from 'Encounter Cornwall' for private hire or guided river tours. Tea shop/cafe by the river. The village has two art galleries that of Robin Leonard and Barbara McMillan, both artists are local residents as is the well known wildlife artist David Parry. Golant village was the home of EV Thompson who wrote the wonderful Rettalick series of novels set in Cornwall. Dine in the fully equipped cottage or the local Fisherman's Arms pub (200m) on the water-front or treat yourselves for a special occasion at The Cormorant Hotel down by the quay with stunning views over the River Fowey. Trenython Manor is only a mile away and has a lovely restaurant. Swim in the sea at Polkerris Beach (4 miles) or Readymoney beach in Fowey (4 miles) or at Trenython Manor where you get lunch and a swim in their indoor pool for £13.50 each. With such fantastic walking all around you could easily park the car all week and just walk. The Saints Way passes right through the village so join it in either direction to Fowey or Lanlivery (The Crown Inn) or divert to Lostwithiel more great eateries and mooching places! Trips to Padstow, Truro and Plymouth are all only an hour or less. St Austell, Mevagissey (a very pretty fishing town), Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan are all less than 30 minutes. A couple of miles up the road are The Hidden Gardens and Duchy Nursery, wonderful shop and superb restaurant. There is so much to do you will run out of time before you run out of adventures! We look forward to welcoming you very soon.
This is a unique village full of friendly and helpful people and holiday makers. The local publican at the Fisherman's Arms, Nick who only took on the licence in February 2017, will give you a very warm welcome and feed you very well too. The Fowey estuary is a beautifully unspoiled river with incredible wildlife. We regularly see kingfishers, herons, egrets and our resident seal, we have yet to see the elusive otters which have been captured by night vision cameras in the estuary. Ducks, a variety of gulls, geese and swans are often spotted.
  • This really is a lovely little cottage, beautifully furnished and very well equipped for a short break away. The village is very pretty with a local pub and a hotel. No shop though so make sure to pick up supplies on your way. Great location for walkers or visiting nearby Fowey and Mevagissy. Easy to find and a handy parking space near to the property. Would definitely recommend if your looking to relax and enjoy the countryside.

  • Lovely atmospheric and cosy cottage in a tranquil setting. The hosts have clearly given much thought to the design and their guests' comfort and convenience.

    Tim2018-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is a gorgeous little cottage. It is beautifully done and retains its period charm. It was very cosy with the wood burner which had thoughtfully been lit before our arrival. The little touches like the twinkly lights in the living area and the mini spot lights in the bedroom added to the cosy, welcoming atmosphere. The cottage had everything we needed and the bottles of wine available to buy or replace was a good idea as there is no local shop. The kitchen is well stocked and included store cupboard essentials. The village location was lovely and we had a very warm welcome in the pub when we went for food. Highly recommend it. All in all, a super place for our short break and we would highly recommend it. We'd definitely return.

Fowey (pronounced Foy to rhyme with joy!) is a stunning Cornish coastal town popular with tourists including families, walkers, sailors and those with literary interests as it is in the heart of Daphne Du Maurier country. Our room contains a basket stuffed full of tourist information leaflets, maps and books about the local area. Please feel free to borrow our walk guides/books but remember to leave them behind! Fowey has its own compact but lovely beach at Readymoney Cove which is 10-15 mins walk from Hope Barn down the scenic Parade footpath. Our new venture for 2017 is opening a brand new beach shop at Readymoney selling beach goods, hot and cold drinks, ice-creams and snacks, an exciting new business for us and great for Fowey. Readymoney Cove also provides access to the south west coastal path. There are many lovely walks in and around Fowey of varying lengths depending on your fitness levels! Fowey itself is packed with great shops, cafes, galleries, restaurants and pubs as well as an amazing artisan bakery, a butchers, fish & chip shop and deli, Mace mini market and the obligatory pasty shop! Several boat trips run from Fowey during the summer season as does the year round car ferry to Bodinnick leading to Polperro and Looe, the year round passenger ferry to Polruan and the summer season passenger ferry to Mevagissey (although the latter is somewhat weather dependent). Hope Barn is on the edge of the town (approx 15 mins walk to town centre, 20 mins via scenic beach/coastal route) and provides the perfect homely retreat from what can be a pretty busy town centre during peak periods. The walk back up the hill from the town centre is quite steep but the Town Bus runs from 10am - 6pm (in summer time, check the board outside the church) and will take you to anywhere in the town you want to go from £1.50 per person. Fowey hosts an annual literary festival each May (previously known as the Du Maurier festival), a Regatta week in August and a whole host of other activities including a biannual Big Gig and BBQ weekend in June which involves three days of live music and great food on the Town Quay and a new Cider and Cheese Festival. There is lots going on and Fowey makes a great place to visit all year round. We are a 10 - 20 min drive from the Eden Project and a 20 - 30 minute drive from the Lost Gardens of Heligan. There are numerous big beaches nearby and even more smaller more secluded beaches. Dog access to beaches varies by beach and by time of year.
  • A lovely home with excellent breakfast. I'd be very happy to return and experience the family's home in Fowey.

  • Really lovely converted barn in a beautiful setting. Fowey is such a tranquil spot in Cornwall. The fixtures and fittings, cleanliness and and warm welcome (including from little Polly the cocker spaniel puppy) were first rate. A very interesting couple. Loved the chickens and the complimentary eggs! Thank you Victoria

  • Victoria, Andrew and the Boys were fabulous hosts. It was cosy and comfortable but we had four fabulous days in Cornwall. Victoria and Andrew's recommendations were perfect, and we enjoyed tasting the local cuisine and sampling the local beers. It was lovely being around and feeling part of the family just for a few days. Our breakfasts were an added bonus particularly sampling the eggs from their own chickens. It was lovely to wake up hearing the chickens first thing in the morning. I would recommend Hope Barn to any future guests. Thanks for everything Victoria, Andrew and Boys. Brenda Segedin

  • I had a wonderful stay at Hope Barn, Victoria and her family were extremely welcoming and helpful. The room and en suite is very comfortable, with lovely touches like some biscuits and shower gel etc. I will definitely stay with Victoria again if I return to Fowey.

  • Had a lovely stay at Hope Barn. Absolutely fab location being a walk away from everything you could need; the main town, the coastal path and other walks galore! Victoria and family are very accommodating, friendly and helpful...loved the dogs/chickens/and the beautifully decorated barn. Had the best nights sleep I'd had in a long time and will hopefully return at some point. Would recommend to anyone looking to visit beautiful Fowey :-)

    Anna2017-04-09T00:00:00Z
  • Just returned from a much needed break to Fowey. Hope Barn was perfect! It was my first time away as a lone traveller and I was apprehensive. Victoria and her family were welcoming and made me feel at ease in their home. Everything is as advertised. Lovely room and ensuite which is compact but perfectly fine as I was on my own. Location is only a 10-15 min downhill walk into Fowey just beware it's not ideal walking back up the hill in the dark after a few Vinos!!!! I'll definitely be back. Victoria and Andrew were perfect hosts!!

  • Can't really fault this rental. Guy and Mandy have clearly put in a lot of time effort and money to making it top end, are very welcoming and unobtrusive, and we had a great stay. I would thoroughly recommend it.

  • Jackdaw is an ideal base to explore the Fowey area. The cottage has been beautifully renovated, with lots of great attention to detail and the gardens are stunning. It's a pleasant 15 minute walk into town, which we saw as a plus: we got some exercise, avoided the noise of in town accommodation, and had no parking issues! Guy and Amanda were very welcoming and friendly. Highly recommend!

We really enjoyed our stay with friends, exploring the local coast and beaches for great walks with Leo the dog (Oct to Easter dogs allowed on beaches). Lovely to find a comfortable, dog friendly cottage! The Indian in town also did a really good takeaway :)

"The Smugglers Blues” is a traditional eighteenth century former fisherman's cottage situated in the quiet heart of the famous, picturesque, and vibrant fishing village of Fowey; one of the most renowned and beautiful riverside villages in Cornwall.
Ideally situated on Rose Hill, it gives quick access; just 4/5 minutes’ walk; to the bustling village, yet is set back enough to maintain a quiet and tranquil setting for those moments of relaxation and rest which is an essential part of any holiday. The village offers everything you could want; a wide and varied selection of shops from clothing, arts and craft, food/wine, and souvenirs; an extensive selection of pubs, bistros, and restaurants offering standard pub fayre all the way up to award winning fine cuisine. (word of warning; from experience the walk back up the hill can be a tad longer than the 4/5 minute walk down; not least depending on how much nightlife you sample ?) The charming quayside offers a variety of ferry rides; including the five minute ride over to Polruan, fishing cruises, and self-drive motor boat hire… as well the opportunity to try your hand at crabbing and shrimping off the harbour wall. The beautiful Readymoney beach is a sight inspiring 10 minute walk from the village centre taking in some of the fantastic harbour and sea views that Fowey offers. And for those not so great days; which our great country does “occasionally” experience, there is a great selection of books and board games. For the more visual minded, there is an extensive DVD collection; ranging from children’s movies, romantic comedies, action movies, box sets, thrillers, B/W classics, naturally there are a few James Bond’s to be found, and for any rugby fans; well there’s enough to keep you busy for a few days, especially if you’re a Lions fan. For any budding surfers, you have the benefits of some true classics..
My top tips for Fowey: going out, The Galleon is great on a sunny day sitting by the river, Lugger does great food and beers (simple and effective), King of Prussia (great food again), and if you fancy it, book a window table a day or so in advance(gives a good view out over the Quay and river), the Royal British Legion/Working Mans Club on the quay; I am a member here and like it because of the simplicity and Tribute is £2.50 a pint, plus it has sky sports and they will tend to show anything you ask for. (I think a family membership for the week is £5.00). “Food for Thought” is very good, but can get pricey once you add the drinks on. The Boat House (owned the FFT people) is ok.. but I think pricey for a pizza joint. Haven’t tried the Indian, but the Chinese is ok (just watch their adding up though when it comes to the bill). The Lugger across the river at Polruan is on the upward curve and food is great, plus if you have an afternoon pint, there is sitting area just by the docks and a small beach which catches all the afternoon sun. However, despite all those, I have to say my absolute favourite is “Sam’s Bistro” on the main street, just before the Quay House Hotel… lovely vibrant atmosphere, great and attentive staff, and great food. It can be a wait at times (you can’t book), but it really is well worth the wait… and its open all day. Be warned if you go for the bouillabaisse… absolutely don’t order a starter, it’s a beast of a meal (probably best just to have breakfast and save yourself.. but a fantastic meal 

Sitting room just right for flopping after a day's walking.area also very comfortable. There is a good decked area for eating outside. Will certainly rent again location was perfect .Kind Regards Denise

  • James provided milk, bread and beer on arrival - very welcoming! The cottage is the perfect location for a week away in Cornwall. Fowey is lovely in winter if you don't want to do much, which was fine by us. Havener's Restaurant is great, as is the tiny little tapas bar on the esplanade. The Aquarium however, unlike it's billing as 'unmissable', is truly dire.

  • This house really was a home from home, the bedrooms and living area were extremely comfortable and well thought out and communication with James was forthcoming, helpful & warm. Fowey was lovely and we were just a short walk down the hill (there's a footpath through next to the church) to the harbour. We parked next to the house to unload and found it easy to park in Green Lane around the corner during our stay (although we were there in March I guess during the summer months you may need to venture up to the car park in Park Road). We have had a fabulous 4 nights and from Fowey we visited Polruan by passenger Ferry, Charlestown, Mevagissey, St Mawes, Falmouth (via King Harry car ferry), Leryn & Polperro (via Bodinnick car ferry). We ate Beef Bourgignon in the Ship Inn in Fowey, we had the carvery in the Lugger in Polruan (as recommended by James), Cornish pasties in Mevagissey, cream teas on the balcony of the Fowey Hotel and prawns in Sam's on the Beach in Polkerris and all of the food we had was fantastic. I highly recommend James' cottage and all of the places mentioned above.

La camera è fantastica con buona proporzione qualità/prezzo. Situata proprio sul sentiero che porta alla spiaggia, offre la possibilità di una piacevole passeggiata.

I stayed at Sara's house while visiting Cornwall with my mum. A really special home. Beautiful and peaceful and directly on the river. It's lovely to sit on the deck and watch the river and the boats/…
