  • It is a wonderful place to stay. Quiet enough that meditation comes easily. The weather was not so perfect when we were there, yet the scenery outside the windows makes it all worthwhile. Our host was more than accommodating. I definitely would consider staying here again

  • Loved staying at Ellen's farm. The hammock cottage was adorable and cozy, we brought an air mattress and loved sleeping in front of the woodstove all night and drinking coffee on the porch looking out over the farm. Use of the outdoor shower across the garden was an extra treat (even though there was use of the bathroom in main house too), and Ellen was very accommodating and welcoming, leaving us some snacks and drinks and offering to make a fire for us before we arrived. Would gladly stay again if we needed a place in the area.

  • We had a great stay at the Sunhouse, very nice, quiet & cosy!

  • Excellent accommodation. Easy communication. Beautiful rural location. I highly recommend any of Elen's properties.

  • Elen and Rick's Sunhouse was absolutely incredible! My boyfriend and I brought our dog and she had an absolute blast. It is the perfect, relaxing getaway we needed from the city work life. It was clean and they had the place warmed up for us when we arrived. It was a super quick drive into Belfast to go out to eat (had lobster for the first time) but we brought a camping stove which added to the amazing experience! Rick brought over some fresh duck eggs for us, which were incredible. We're already planning our next trip - can't wait to come back!

    Alyssa2017-04-02T00:00:00Z
  • Ellen has a beautiful property! The Sun House was lovely! We really enjoyed our stay!

    Deanna2016-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is a really great place! We loved the hammocks in the Sunhouse. They were great for lounging and relaxing in. Also the one-room cabin was the perfect size for my boyfriend and me, and its atmosphere was very peaceful. Many thanks to Elen for lending us her toaster oven so that we could make pizza in the Sunhouse! Our pizza was really good, by the way. One more thing: we loved the animals on the farm, namely the rooster and hen that walked around freely. They were really funny and reminded us of my two cats, Pecan and Trixie. And I loved the pig! The only thing that I would warn future air bnb-ers of is that you should really try to arrive while it is still plenty light outside. We had a lot of difficulty finding the address as it is sort of hidden away and the GPS app on my phone didn't quite have it marked correctly. Also, I totally recommend asking the local people if you can borrow their phone to call Elen and ask for directions if you get lost. They are very, very friendly, and we wouldn't have made it to Elen's without the help of some very nice people in the town of Brooks. ALSO: Anyone staying in Brooks, ME with Elen or anywhere within like an hour of Brooks, ME should ABSOLUTELY go to Ralph's Café!!! It's now in my boyfriend's top 5 favorite restaurants and he doesn't mess around when it comes to food. EAT THERE, and stay at the Sunhouse when you do, too!

A peaceful spot to slow down: quiet and beautiful. Our location is private and entwined in the natural world. The long view and the lovingly and ecologically designed house combine to create a memorable setting for a restorative and creative vacation.
Big south facing windows frame beautiful views of the Camden Hills and Lake Quantabacook in our comfortable and peaceful mountaintop camp. Abutting the Frye Mountain Game Preserve with easy access to the Sheepscot Watershed Land Alliance's network of trails, and the Hills to Sea Trail system, our camp manages to feel very far away from everything even though Belfast (a cool, small, not-too-touristy city--home of our restaurant, bakery, and market, Chase's Daily) is only twelve miles away. The camp is off-grid and solar-powered. Equipped with a propane fridge, on-demand hot water, wood stove, and a (new!) Rinnai heater, the house has all the basic comforts of contemporary life. Perks unique to the site include a compost heap out back, herbs to pick from the terraced gardens, a fire pit and plenty of dry wood, fog lingering in the valley come dawn, stars aplenty in the true dark at night, an outdoor kitchen, moss and lichen gleaming in the rain, a screened porch, wildflowers brassy in the hot sun, and storm clouds whipping across the valley. We provide a well-equipped kitchen suitable for cooks. We provide cotton or linen sheets, soft pillows, and comfortable beds (to us!)—one queen sized and one double. No phone line, tv, or internet access. Decent cell phone service for some carriers, nil for others. Good pets are welcome! The camp is available to rent year round. We installed a new Rinnai propane heater on the main floor during the fall of 2016 to make winter rentals easier and more comfortable for our guests. During the winter and spring we welcome guests for shorter stays though our minimum is likely 3 nights. 4wd or Awd is necessary during the winter and periods of the spring.
Our camp is in the woods, with no neighbors in sight, a mile and a half up a dirt road. The view is expansive and the trails in the Frye Mountain Preserve are quiet and feel very far away from the intensity of urban life. Belfast is our town. It takes about 18 minutes to get to Camp from Belfast. We own and run the restaurant Chase's Daily, with our family, on Main Street in Belfast. We hope you will join us for a meal or stop in to buy produce, flowers, or baked goods. Hours and more info can be found on our website (URL HIDDEN) Belfast has everything you are likely to need--pharmacy, shops, restaurants, supermarket, waterfront parks, ice cream, etc. There are many good swimming spots--ocean and lake--within a half hour drive from Camp. Ellis Pond is our favorite. We also really like jumping off the dock at Bayside in Northport. Or, Lake St. George in Liberty with a stop at John's Ice Cream is a real treat.
  • It's really hard to explain how perfect this place is. The view is so beautiful and the cabin is really lovely. If you're worried about the solar power, don't. Even though it was rainy most of the time I was there, the battery never got below about 80%. Great communication from Meg and it was exactly the kind of vacation I needed. Hope to make it back soon! (hopefully with better weather :)

    Adam2014-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful camp - the views of the nearby hills and valleys are amazing. We were content just sitting on the deck taking it all in. A beautiful place, very peaceful and relaxing and not far from Belfast which has quickly become our favorite getaway spot. Great brewery, co-op grocery, and restaurants but not overly crowded. Meg was very responsive and the amenities were great. We hope to return soon!

    Cindy2013-05-29T00:00:00Z

    Marc-André2013-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely Honeymoon at Frye Mountain! The space is beautiful, and all solar powered! Mid-coast Maine is a lovely fall holiday, there are amazing restaurants, hikes and ocean. How can you go wrong? Meg is very communicative and a lovely host. We felt so lucky to have such a cool spot all to ourselves. We highly recommend spending time here cooking food and getting cozy by the wood stove.

    Ashley2011-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • One of our favorite places to visit. We've now stayed here several times during different seasons, and it's always such a relaxing and perfect experience. The property connects to several great trails in the area and the outdoor kitchen is so much fun for baking wood-oven pizzas. The screened-in porch is so lovely for much of the year and the interior of the cabin has the perfect mixture between simplicity and convenience. Bring games or books for the evening. Make sure you look outside on a clear night to catch the incredible stars! Cell service (Verizon) works perfectly so if you need a hotspot for a short time your smart phone should be fine for that purpose. If you want a really easy but lovely hike nearby, look up the Georges Highland Path on Frye Mountain. It's a quick drive away and well marked with blue blazes. Truly our dream cabin. We are already planning our next visit!

    Fiona2015-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • We spent four peaceful days at Frye Mountain Camp. The house is incredibly comfortable and the views are amazing. I think I fully decompressed for the first time in years. Thanks Meg and Freddie.

    Cathy2013-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect getaway in the mountains! This is our second time here and we're already planning when we can return. There is something quite magical about this space - filled with light, nestled in the forest, over looking the amazing view over the valley. The space has everything you'd need, and nothing you don't! We come here to write, hike and get away from the busy city. It's close to Belfast for good food and Acadia is not too far for a day trip. We usually stay close to the property and just enjoy some peace and quiet!

    Fiona2015-06-12T00:00:00Z
  • Frye Mountain Camp was as lovely in June as it was in the winter. Cool nights and cool breezes. Listening to birdsong while swinging in the hammock. A trip into Belfast for ice cream and ocean walks and a very cool town playground. Our toddler has been suggesting we "go back to Maine!" ever since.

Royer Valley Farm was established September 1, 2016. Our farm is situated in the hills of Waldo County. We are conveniently located between Belfast and Unity Maine. Currently we’re developing a diversified livestock operation we have meat rabbits, poultry, eggs, pigs, goats, sheep, and cattle. Also on our farm you’ll find two draft ponies, a mini horse, a mini donkey and 3 yellow labs. The farm consists of more than 50 acres of woods & 20 acres pastures that can be explored by our guests.
The Farm Store Loft is a bedroom above our farm store. The loft has a queen size bed, small desk and chair, IKEA futon single bed, lamp, floor mats, closet, and a PackNPlay crib. It’s a very comfortable space for a single person or small family. Guests will share a full bathroom with a tub/shower combination that is located in the farm store. The farm store is not a heavy traffic area so this shared space hasn’t been issue for anyone.
Guests can explore here on the farm or it's an easy trip to the Atlantic Ocean! A fifteen minute car ride is all it takes be at the Belfast waterfront for fun and great food. We are a great location to stay for anyone planning to attend events in the Bangor, Waterville, and Unity areas. The MOFGA Common Ground Fair, Bangor Waterfront Concerts, Bar Harbor, and many others are just down the road a piece.
  • Richard's place is a cozy little loft on a farm with horses, goats, chickens etc. It's gorgeous and very quiet. The loft is above an entryway where he sells eggs and meat, and the bathroom is downstairs next to the entryway. The entryway, in turn, is connected to the house with an entrance between the two. So, it doesn't have the privacy of a separate building, though there is a lock for privacy. All in all, it's a great little getaway on an idyllic, remote farm.

  • This room is very comfortable and clean. The owners have great decorating and overall the room feels peaceful. The bathroom has gorgeous fluffy white towels with soap, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion that we use at our own home. The bed is very comfortable and the white sheets are also crisp and clean. Last, the owners were readily available to help us settle in and we would love to stay here again. For breakfast, just a mile away, is a great cafe with wonderfully home cooked meals and fantastic coffee and service.

    Suzanne2017-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Very relaxing. Richard was very responsive and available for my late check in and as I arrived in the dark and got a bit lost he stayed on phone with me. I was only there for one night as I was traveling for work. I was undisturbed although Richard and Amy were available if I needed anything. Nice animal sounds in the morning but not too early. I liked it.

Cozy, secluded 1 bedroom cabin at the end of a mile-long gravel road. Situated on its own driveway at the edge of a mature fruit tree orchard on an organic farm. 7 minute drive to Freedom Mill & the Lost Kitchen. Convertible sofa in main space.
  • This is the perfect spot to stay if you are dining at The Lost Kitchen - just down the road. The cabin is private and located on a beautiful farm.

  • A perfect,quiet, beautiful Maine experience!

    Fatima2017-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • Victoria was very welcoming and the space was clean and charming. It is a true Maine cabin experience, with a lovely plot of flowers growing next to the cabin. The space is small and there is no door to the bedroom (which has a small, full sized bed), so this is not a space with privacy. The setting could not be prettier, and if you enjoy being unplugged, there is no tv or wifi, which for me was nice, but my teenager was dumbfounded. Victoria provided coffee and organic cream, and gave me extra coffee when I ran out, which was nice.

    Maggie2017-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • This was indeed a cozy and private cabin. Our little family of four had a wonderful time using it as a home base as we explored the surrounding area for 4 days. Our hosts were responsive and helpful, even helping us with a firepit one night so my son could roast s'mores. Extra bonuses were the fresh flowers, porcupine sightings and baby chicks to visit:)

    Marty2015-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • The host called us before we even started trip, she sent explicit directions, we talked the day of arrival, very laid back, accommodating , easy to converse wth, seemed to enjoy and proud of her farming and family. the surroundings were beautiful out in the country! We would definitely stay, again, and refer the cottage to others.

    Larry2016-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • We just stayed in the cabin on the farm for two nights and it was the perfect weekend getaway. The cabin was super comfortable and felt cozy for the first very cold nights of the fall. We didn't take advantage of many of the great restaurants in the area this time around, but the kitchen was well-stocked with cookware for us to make dinner which was just what we wanted. Montville might be my new favorite town in Maine - the views of the surrounding mountains reminded me a bit of being back in Vermont. Add to that being within a half-hours drive of the ocean and towns like Belfast and Camden, and the location really can't be beat. Thanks again to Victoria and family for making us feel so welcome!

    Julia2015-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • Sweet little cabin nestled between the gardens tucked into the trees. Lovely touches- coffee, organic 1/2 & 1/2, &,fresh flowers. A plus- the new issue of Taproot. ..great reading with bird song out the window. Great communication with our host Victoria.

This room is one of two with a shared bathroom in the upstairs of a well-appointed village home, across the street from The Lost Kitchen restaurant (reservations necessary). Breakfast included. Comfortable sunporch and parlor. Walk to Freedom Pond.
This room is in a large village home, and is airy, bright and comfortable. The sunporch serves as breakfast area in the summer. Perennial and vegetable gardens, casual seating will help you feel right at home. There is also a lake very close by - Freedom Pond (aka Sandy Pond) for swimming and boating (walking distance to swim, 1/4 mile by car or bike).
The special feature of Freedom Village is the newly renovated Mill at Freedom Falls. What was once an old dowel mill, is now home to the Lost Kitchen restaurant, a walking bridge over the stream and mill pond, and a community day school for children. It is a wonderful focal point for the village. Freedom is in a rural area, amidst farms and fields and woods, and tucked in the hills, are artists, farmers and other creative types. Freedom is 16 miles from Belfast, 7 miles from Unity, about 20 miles from Waterville. Please note that other than The Lost Kitchen, a destination restaurant, there are no other dining out options in Freedom. There is a diner a mile up the road and a few options in Unity. Many more dining options are in Belfast or Waterville.
  • Lissa was a fabulous and perfect host. Her home is wonderfully set up, full of artwork and lovely plants. The rooms for guests are spacious, well lit and superbly cosy! She greeted us when we arrived, provide tips and hints where we could go ride our bikes and was just a fantastic person! She made us a spectacular breakfast including including a spinach & egg dish with locally sourced eggs, wonderful goat cheese spread and fresh local berries. Staying at Lissa's is the perfect compliment to a wonderful dinner at the Lost Kitchen that is across the street and has been written up in Bon Appetite, Food & Wine & the NY Times/WS Journal. Go to Lissa's and you will experience exactly what we did.........a fabulous hostess with a great smile!

  • We really enjoyed staying at this country house with a beautiful garden and porch area to sit and have breakfast in. The location is in a beautiful area by an old restored mill. The host did not cook us breakfast because she had an appointment in the morning, but did leave us fresh milk, homemade yoghurt, eggs, and many freshly picked items from her garden to cook with. When we arrived she had the fireplace going, as it was a cold Maine summer night, and we both picked books from her shelf and sat and read and felt cozy. We recommend staying here.

  • I would highly recommend this place to anyone who is around this area or on the way to Acadia National Park. House is unique and I love interior and garden. Lissa was super nice and offer me a delicious breakfast. We chat about the area and she gave me a tips how to get to my destination.

    Paul2015-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • Lissa was an easy hostess who made us feel comfortable from the start. The room was clean, well furnished, and filled with interesting and thoughtful details such as a little tray on the bedside table, perfect for glasses, a ring, a cell phone. She made an amazing breakfast - healthy, tasty and filling and her coffee was wonderful. We especially enjoyed the quiet of the house, the welcoming sun porch for both breakfast and a leisurely talk, and her wonderful dog, Lil. What a sweetie! I will certainly return. Lissa and her home are a real treat.

  • Great place, peaceful and quiet setting. Beautiful house and only a short walk to The Lost Kitchen! Lissa was a great host. Good communication and everything was as advertised. Comfy bed. We would definitely recommend!

  • Lissa is a wonderful host! She anticipated everything a visitor might need and then some! Her home is absolutely lovely; pristine in presentation but so warm and inviting. Full of striking original artwork and whimsy, you can't help but be inspired! A creative energy just pulses quietly throughout the house. The room and bath are beautifully appointed, so charming! Surrounded by her beautiful garden and the tranquil, rural environs - this is a little piece of Eden. I would love to return with enough time to explore this niche of Maine and to perch on her lovely deck and read! We had very little overlap time with Lissa, but she is gracious, accommodating and relaxed. This was a superb experience and met all of our needs.

    Heather2016-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Lissas' house was awesome. The house is in a very quiet and nice area located, with a close access to a wonderful lake. Lissa is such a friendly and helpful host, the breakfast she made for us was so delicious! The dinnig room has a nice view into Lissas' nice garden and also the whole house is very nice decorated. We recommend this place to spend some time in the rural area of New Hampshire! Also the city of Belfast (very nice) and the Acadia National Park are good to reach by car. Thanks for the wonderful time at your place Lissa.

  • Thank you to Elen and Rick for having us. We enjoyed the adorable little cabin. You do have to walk up a few hundred yards to get to the toilet/shower, but it was the best shower on our trip! The bed was a little uncomfortable, because it is a fairly thin mattress on the floor, but the views out into the farm were worth it to us. We also enjoyed seeing the goats, dogs and pony. Cheers!

  • Thanks to Jeanne and Art, it was a wonderful experience staying at their beautiful house. They both were extremely helpful and hospitable. Their house was very clean with an awesome soothing ambience...The house has very thoughtful decor with every detail kept into mind to make the stay comfortable. They also were extremely courteous serving us an awesome breakfast ( local blueberry pancakes and yogurt was just amazing). They gave our daughter toys to play and the best part was the Frozen Castle which they specially got for our daughter to play... so nice and thoughtful of them. Above all the icing on the cake was the experience of the hot tub on our last day of stay ... it was mesmerising enjoying the tub in the middle of nature. Overall one of the best Airbnb experience and highly recommended. We will like to visit again. Places to visit near by Belfast harbour walk, Acadia national park and Bar harbour area our 1.5 hrs drive and don't miss the amazing views from Camden Hill state park and a meal at the Waterfront restaurant at Camden Harbour ( recommend by Jeanne and Art)

  • Jeanne and Art made our first experience using Airbnb unbelievable. For sure, we will try to visit their place next summer.

  • First of all, I have to say that Jeanne and Art are the BEST hosts I have never met before! We arrived late on the first day. However they waited for us and prepared wine for us after giving us a little introduction of their home. The room is not only clean and comfortable, but also well decorated. The second day, we spent 1.5 hours driving to Acadia National Park. When we came back, they have finished cleaning our room. On the third day, we had a wonderful wonderful breakfast with hosts. They almost prepared everything for us including local yogurt and famous blueberry pancakes. The bacon was delicious and maple syrup is so wonderful. We had a great morning with Jeanne and Art and Buddy (chihuahua). After that we took a walk and played the boat in the little pond in their yard. Art taught us how to make move in the little boat. In one word, this is the perfect experience for us to stay with Jeanne and Art for three days. We would never forget those days and come back if we had the chance.

  • Jeanne and Art have been well accommodating and thoughtful throughout the stay. The camp fire they meticulously prepared and maintained was one of the highlights of our trip. They also offered us some tips on the local restaurants, a fishing rod and pitchfork to dig out some worms, and a quick tour around their property. Our dogs played well with their dogs and ran freely around their property day and night. Sun shire over their pond is one of the most beautiful things I ever seen in this trip. It is this kind of experience and hosts like Jeanne and Art that let us keep choosing Airbnb over hotels.

  • Great apartment in a cozy town with lots to do nearby. We stayed as a family of 6- parents, 2 kids, 2 grandparents, and our dog! Jeanne and Art were so friendly, welcoming, and helpful with suggestions. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast of fresh fruits, free range eggs and Maine blueberry pancakes! You must stop by Ralph's cafe just around the corner, there's also a U-pick blueberry farm nearby, a local theater company, a food co-op and a gas station all in walking distance! On property my kids loved exploring the pond and marsh stream, catching frogs (and releasing). there's beautifully tended gardens, a firepit, hot tub and hammock, perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring midcoast! We also went into Camden, took a chartered sail on the Owl, explored Belfast (and its city park- with a great swimming pool, kids playground and rocky beach!). Went down to Rockland and Rockport to stroll the downtown- must go to Coastal Childrens Museum in Rockport if you have kids- toddler to young elementary school- very fun, only $20 for 4 tickets, right on the water. One day drove up to Acadia Natl Park which was Stunning (very busy too, as it was a beautiful day!) We loved our stay and would recommend it highly to anyone interested in Camden, Belfast, Acadia or other Midcoast locations, it is a great place in Maine and one we look forward to exploring more in the future!

  • Jeanne and Art are very welcoming hosts, and their place is beautiful and spacious. It was a 1.5 hour drive to Acadia. And after a long day of hiking it was nice to come back, relax, and read in the hammock. A breakfast featuring Maine blueberry pancakes in their sun room the next morning was an extra treat. A lovely Maine retreat!

    Stephanie2017-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • This home is comfortable and is located in a peaceful setting. The grounds are beautiful. Jeanne and Art made us feel welcome. Not many eating options in town, but Belfast is close. If you want a quiet setting, this is the place.

We are within 10 minutes of Unity College and Five minutes from The Lost Kitchen. Lovely home, warm and cozy. I am an artist and my husband is a retired RN. YOU WILL LOVE THIS SPOT. Your room is up the stairs and to the right. We do have a second room with a very comfortable air mattress in the event that you are a party of more than 2. We are open to longer stays if you have business at the college. This is a nonsmoking home. If you need breakfast, we can often arrange that.

This three bedroom, two bathroom home on the shore of Lake Passagassawakeag is a rustic, quiet retreat to get away from everything, and still have the comforts of home. Canoeing, hiking swimming await! It was remodeled spring 2016. Sleeps 6.
This private cabin on the lake has had major renovations inside, brand new dock and other added amenities to make this a perfect getaway!!
    Very private.
  • I just got back from my week at Brooks yesterday and it was truly a dream vacation. The house is clean, cozy and a welcome retreat. The view from the deck and the docks are truly breathtaking. The house next door was unoccupied, so we truly had a private, secluded cabin by the lake, where the only noises heard were the tiny songbirds chattering, the ravens and the red squirrels. And the (URL HIDDEN) prepared to be serenaded by loons throughout the night...hauntingly beautiful. We saw bald eagles while kayaking and enjoyed fishing off the docks. The town of Brooks has a general store, hardware store, and a delicious cafe and is a 10 minute drive from the cabin. Belfast is about 20 minutes away and full of historic charm and quirky shops. The people are friendly and kind. Expect other residents around the lake to wave and say hi as you drive by. Michelle was friendly and helpful and while we didn't need to contact her during our stay for any issues, we knew she was reachable. I cannot say enough good things about this rental. We will definitely be going back next summer!!

    Christine2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Once we got through a few misunderstandings, Peter was Amazing in resolving any problems we may have experienced. His place was everything you could ask for and more and was very comfortable in meeting all your needs. I would definitely go back for a longer time.....just make sure you come prepared since food shopping is a good 30 minutes away!

    Bobbi2016-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at Peter's cabin for an outdoor weekend getaway with my boyfriend and it was absolutely wonderful! The cabin itself felt brand new and was very spacious for the two of us- we wished we invited friends! The view of the lake was so incredibly beautiful and it was so much fun to go kayaking and explore the area. In addition, Peter and his property manager, Michelle, made arriving and checking out totally effortless. I would highly recommend for friends, families, or couples. I want to go back!

    Colleen2016-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • It was an experience getting there, but the cottage itself was great! The location is awesome, perfect for enjoying the quietness and gives a great opportunity for relaxing.

    Ramona2016-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Loved the location and loved the house! Everything was just as advertised and if I am ever in the area again, this is where I want to stay.

    Cheryl2016-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay. Beautiful surroundings. Comfortable home. My wife and I loved spending our honeymoon here.

    Andrew2017-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at the cabin. The house is great and the location was perfect for a fun and relaxing week.

    David2016-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Peter's place was fantastic. It's a wonderful cabin with everything you need for a comfortable stay. We will probably try to stay there again when we get back to Maine.

This room is one of two with shared bath in the upstairs of a well-appointed village home, across the street from The Lost Kitchen restaurant (reservations necessary). Breakfast is included. The room has a queen bed and a twin. Walk to Freedom Pond!
More dining options are in Belfast or Waterville.
  • Beautiful room and excellent host. My girlfriend and I felt very welcome, the bedroom was spacious and neat, same for the bathroom. In the morning Lissa made us excellent eggs with greens from her private garden. Would absolutely come again.

    Dmitry2015-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • Lissa is a perfect host. Our arrival got very late due to long weekend traffic, heavy rain and thunderstorms. She was in constant touch with all the directions and help. She prepared breakfast for us from the fresh vegetable out of her kitchen garden. We ended up talking on so many topics, exchange of views and culture. Though she had many prior commitments, still she made time for us. She provided us directions for many near by places to visit and also told us about a nice 4th July parade at a near by town which we loved but could have never found without her telling us. She has kept her house very clean. We loved the interiors. I strongly recommend her.

    Paresh2016-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • We arrived early (underestimated travel time). Lissa was kind enough to let us unpack and rest. Lissa was very welcoming. Lots of common space.

    Sheila2015-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Elissa’s warm and welcoming home. She and her sweet dog Lil were generous hosts and made us feel at home immediately. Lissa shared her home, kitchen, and garden with us and treated us to delicious meals with produce from her beautiful garden. We had good conversations and felt like we were visiting an old friend. The home was bright, art-filled, clean and tidy. Our room was quiet, comfortable and spacious. The bathroom is spacious and clean too. Freedom is a charming village in the heart of Maine’s farm country. We had a great time driving through the backroads and exploring villages and quirky area landmarks. Lissa’s house is convenient to Belfast and the coast as well (a 25-minute drive). All in all, it was a pleasant, comfortable and easy stay for us. 100% recommend!

    hannah2017-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Lissa's home is in a fairly remote part of Maine, but if you have a reason to be there, as I did, it is really wonderful. The house and the yard are lovely. Our room (my 18-year-old daughter and me) was perfect. Lissa was very pleasant and the breakfast she served was excellent. I will definitely stay again when I am in that part of the world. My daughter will be going to Unity College and Lissa's house if very convenient to the campus.

    Charlotte2017-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • Would 100% recommend. This is the first airbnb I've had that's provided breakfast and it wasn't just bagels or juice, she literally makes breakfast, we had delicious eggs, parfait, blueberry scones, pancakes, toast, juice, coffee, sausage, and more. Her house is gorgeous, it's a bit antique so some stuff squeaks but it's really a beautiful sight, along with her garden outside. She has a very friendly sweet dog named Lil that we got to meet and she gave us excellent advice on good places to visit and try out. The place is a little secluded, you may have to travel to get to some places, but even with that the stay is definitely worth it. 5 stars!!! :)

    Samantha2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed for a weekend while visiting my daughter at college. By the time I left, Lissa felt like an old friend. Wish I could have her make me breakfast everyday! So delicious. Her home is a special place.

    Genny2016-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • The house is neat and clean and bright and beautifully decorated with artworks including unique wire sculptures and comfortable furniture. We were particularly taken by our greeting, upon our late return the second night, by the friendly , tail wagging little dog who welcomed us at the door. Lissa is well hooked-in to the local scene, and, unknown to us, already knew, and had befriended (with her good cooking) my granddaughter, who with newborns, lives 20 miles away from Lissa.

Rural living at its best! Sunny room with view of hills watch the sun and moon rise! 14 miles from coastal town of Belfast, surrounded by land trust for lots of hiking, biking and cross country skiing. Continental breakfast included. Close to Common Ground Fair and The Lost Kitchen
What makes our home unique is the location. If you like quiet roads, waking to songbirds in the morning, stars at night this is a place you will enjoy..
  • I highly recommend Michele's place. She and her husband were friendly, gracious, welcoming. I left after two night's stay feeling like an old friend. Their house is cozy and comfortable, and my room was clean, pleasantly decorated and near a bathroom. I'm already thinking up reasons to visit the area so I can visit them again.

  • Michele and Chris were very welcoming hosts. Our room was tidy and had all the needed comforts. My husband and I would be happy to stay with them again.

  • Hi Everyone. We had a great time at Michele's and Chris' house. Our room was spacious and comfortable, as was the bathroom. The hospitality was fabulous and we had a good chat all together. In short: Don't miss out on this 5 star family experience ;-)

    Sascha2016-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Michele and Chris are wonderful hosts. They are very friendly and eager to make you feel at home. Beer drinkers will appreciate Chris's extensive collection of brews. Sitka their Labradoodle is a handsome and friendly addition to the household. The guest room is quite roomy and light and a clean, well organized private bathroom is next door. The bed was a bit on the soft side for our tastes. The house is in an attractive rural area, but not too far from the restaurants and shops of Belfast. We only stayed one night but enjoyed the experience.

    Stuart2017-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had a really good time with Michelle and her husband. It was more like staying with family or friends than air bnb :) The room was clean as well as the bathroom. In the lovely house we could use the kitchen as well and enjoyed the big poperty around the house with our little ones. The surroundings are charming and the nature simply beautiful. Michelle and Chris always had a good recomandation to spare as well as a good chat if wanted. Be aware of a very friendly dog and an almost never seen cat ;) We loved it.

    Janine2016-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Michele and her husband were extremely welcoming guests, I immediately felt at home. Everything was exactly as described, my room was great, everything was very clean, and the dog quickly became my new best friend. They even helped me plan the next phase of my road trip with all of their local knowledge!

    Zach2016-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Michele and her husband are wonderful hosts, very kind and generous. They gave us great recommendations about the region (including the best lobster pound!) and offered us drinks and breakfast. We very much enjoyed our conversations with them and the peace of their house.

Welcome to Brooks Maine! We hope you'll enjoy your stay! There are tons of great local attractions. The beach, boutique shopping, antiques, great eats, hiking, kayaking, & wineries . Our home is centrally located to Camden, Rockport, and Belfast.Enjoy the grill, fire pit, outdoor dining, and many acres we have
Welcome to Maine's Hidden Gem! We hope you'll enjoy it as your own, while visiting Mid-Coast Maine! The house itself is post and beam, with wood floors throughout. It has tons of natural light and the master bedroom features cathedral ceilings with 2 skylights. It's a wonderful place to wake up. It was recently completed. Having it been a shell from the 1990's till 2 years ago. The pictures really don't do it justice. The layout is rather unique and spacious, with 2600sf to Move around. It has many doors to access the yard. Great for family get togethers and groups. Larger groups, i ask to contact me for any questions re; the space and its layout. We have 16 acres for you to enjoy, including a grill, outdoor seating/dining under the pergola, and recently built fire pit. Feel free to enjoy picking berries, veggies, and herbs from our garden. Our house manual has been recently updated, including summer, fall, spring, and winter activities to do in the area. We have tons of games in the house. Our newest is Twister (so much fun:-) for adults and kids!! The house is on a town maintained dirt road. We love it. As it really gives separation from many of the roads in Maine, which can be so Main. Yet, you can get to Belfast in less than 15 minutes. Lincolnville is another great coastal town (20 mins),but worth a day on the beach and hitting up our favorite coffee/tea roaster, Green Tree. You'll love it :-) From Lincolnville you can take the ferry out to Isleboro, not to be missed. Camden is also very close. Acadia National Park is a great day trip from us. We love Bar Harbor, but Schoodic Point (on the mainland) is a hidden gem. Perfect for biking, a picnic, kayaking, and collecting beach loot! Our home is in a a rural location. It allows you to have fun and feel like your a million miles away, from everything. Yet, you can get to so many beautiful locations, antiquity by, wineries, and dinner out, so easily. We hope you'll enjoy the peace and celebration around you. We have yoga mats for you to enjoy practice (especially nice down by the stream, just to the right of our driveway. We also have a small library upstairs for you to enjoy. And a take one leave one honor system. There's a little nook for the kids, including games, a table, chairs, stuffed animals, color books, a chalkboard, and a couple little toys. Please contact us with any additional questions or concerns. We will do our best to accommodate you. 8/14/17 Please note our home has 2 video cameras located in the breezeway, outside to both ensure the safety of our guests as well as home. The house also has a maintained home security system. You will find motion sensors around the house. We also have a thermostat sensor in the basement. That ensures they will call our furnace company there is an emergency if the temp ever drops to freezing, or any potential problems. We do our very best to maintain the house. And while the home is checked thoroughly after each and every visit. We are human and may miss something. We ask and invite all guests to have a look around the house. And please let us know immediately if you spot any damage. As it will promptly be repaired (if needed) and notated. We have tons of recommendations on the area including dining, points of interest, and staples. Our house manual is also a great tool. We also have a guestbook we ask folks to leave a note in, and any tips to help us and or fellow home-sharers coming to visit. Our calendar is updated, regularly. **please note, we have a little finish work going on at our house, in the basement** Thanks for your interest!
  • Leanne is a perfect host. She communicated with us before arrival and checked in with us over e-mail to make sure we arrived safely. She was also very responsive during our stay regarding a couple of questions we had. Her home is beautiful, comfortable and welcoming set on a really nice property, which was perfect for snowshoeing! We were able to bring our dog with us, too, which was such a treat. We had a great stay in Leanne's home and would return again. I can't stress enough how nice and comfortable her home is and also what a terrific host she is. She even left us coffee, eggs and cream for our arrival. (And I should also mention that her kitchen is well stocked with everything you need to cook.) Our kids loved the upstairs loft area and spent many hours playing Twister, checkers and coloring. Thanks, Leanne!

    Molly2017-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Leanne's home was awesome! We stayed for a family event, our daughter's graduation. The house was picture perfect and accommodated our family perfectly. Thank you Leanne for being so accommodating.

    Todd2017-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day at Leanne's beautiful home. Although the fireplace was not working (broke just before our arrival), the home was as cozy as ever! It was the perfect Winter getaway for our group and there was plenty of space for everyone -- we had a blast! While 2 of the beds were in a lofted area that didn't directly connect to the rest of the house (fine for our group, we did not mind stepping outside briefly and it was still fully heated & livable), the other rooms in the house were quite spacious. The kitchen had all of the essentials for cooking many meals (for our group of 10) and the location was beautiful (very rural!). One thing to note was that the GPS took us to the wrong location (it was the correct road, but not the right address), which should be added to future "check in" instructions for smoother arrival. Leanne was incredibly responsive the entire time and helped us find the house quickly (it was about another mile down the road). She even left us fresh eggs and gave us a quick tour of everything! There was no "house manual" so it took us awhile to find the WiFi password and we were not quite sure if there were specific check-out instructions, but it in NO WAY affected our stay there. We had so much fun and would recommend this listing for anybody looking for a memorable and peaceful visit to Maine!

  • Leanne's place is perfect for a family get-together. Roomy, fantastic stove for cooking, large dining area for meals, beautifully appointed, awesome post and beam structure, lots to keep folks busy, and in general very comfortable. A bit secluded, but well worth getting off the beaten trail!

  • Endroit et facilités idéales pour réunions familiales ou entre amis de longue date.

  • Leanne was an amazing host! She was very accommodating with a response time second to none. The property is spacious, clean, and everything was in working condition. This was a great getaway from the city for me - will surely be back. Highly recommended.

  • This was my first time using AirBnb, my wife and several friends have used it before for conference and work travel. This home is beautiful and the perfect mix of secluded Maine getaway, yet close enough to other activities. Leanne was very responsive to any questions, provided clear instructions and guide manual in the home, and am easy checkout. We will definitely be back!

  • Wonderful camping location. I stayed here on my way to Acadia and actually just commuted from this location. Not a short drive but definitely worth it. Great tent platform for camping, more stars then I can remember ever seeing, and a wonderful host.

  • Many Hands Farm is a beautiful place to wake up! The tent platform is under an apple tree with plenty of room for a three person tent and a couple of camp chairs. Don't miss the opportunity to use the outdoor shower - the temperature is perfect and you can watch the chickens and goats while rinsing. You will have a hard time leaving - it's a wonderful place to be : ) Nyla and her partner are great hosts and will help you with anything you need.

  • This was a perfect stop for us on our roadtrip up to Nova Scotia. Nyla and her family have a beautiful farm and we were so glad to have the chance to stay there! The platform for camping was in a great location, it was so nice to wake up under the apple tree to the sound of roosters crowing. We also enjoyed the outdoor shower.

This is an adorable but extremely rustic get-a-way in the heart of Jackson, Maine. There are several cabins built with an eye to whimsy including features like a sweeping roof line and stairs made from a bent tree. Definitely has the feel of a tree house.
This listing is for the front cabin called the Bird's Nest. It's a work in progress! We are always adding to and fluffing it. Please let us know what your needs are and we can give you an idea if this cabin might be a good fit for your escape. Updating with more picture soon. Situated on 10 wooded acres to wander on.... and another 100 acres down the road with a stream and woods roads for hiking!
Jackson is three miles outside of Brooks and has a little cafe that resources from some amazing local farm foods. Ralphs Cafe is seasonal so check hours. Very centrally located to Augusta, Waterville, Belfast and Bangor.

Discover the magic of summer camp in the woods of Maine! Stay in a beautiful cabin and enjoy our incredibly peaceful and unique property. Join us this Fall for the 2016 Common Ground Fair- we're conveniently located just 20 minutes away!
"Avalon" is one of our newest cabins on our sprawling woodland property. The cabin itself is simple and is partitioned into three spaces perfect for a family or small group. The spaces include 5 bunk beds, a double bed, full bathroom, parking, and remote access to wifi. The 350 acres surrounding the cabin are home to a well-established, progressive arts camp for children during the summer which makes for a unique and eclectic experience: Impressive mosaics, stained glass, and sculpture are on display throughout the property while serene woods and fields make for great exploring, with a large network of trails perfect for hiking or mountain biking. There are excellent fire pits for making s'mores or hanging out under the stars...oh, and the stars here are AMAZING! We also have lake, tennis courts, a basketball court, a soccer field, and a swing set all available for guests to use. If relaxation is what you're looking for, take a walk through our organic garden, soak in the hot tub, or enjoy our peaceful, creek-side dance studio ideal for yoga or meditation. In addition to some year-round human residents, the property is home to 8 llamas, 3 alpacas, 2 miniature ponies, 2 miniature donkeys, 3 dogs, a flock of chickens, quite a few cats, and one free-roaming, pot-bellied pig named Dexter. While the animals keep to their own spaces, you can't miss the llamas, alpacas, and Dexter who live in the center of the camp and the ponies and donkeys are a short walk from your residence if you'd like to pay them a visit. Breakfast will be included and we can provide a space to store food.
While we are somewhat in our own little world here at camp, our location is ideal when it comes to attractions nearby: We are only 20 miles from the gorgeous Maine coast and just a short drive away from Belfast, Maine where you can enjoy great food, shopping, and entertainment. The Common Ground Fair, a huge Fall attraction, is only 12 miles from us and The Lost Kitchen, the renowned farm-to-table restaurant, only 6 miles away.
  • We reached after dark but easily found our host Carmi( on behalf of the owners). He was very friendly and helpful, did everything to make us feel very welcome. In the morning, he made us a warm breakfast with a large smile on his face. The camp is wonderful and there is much to explore. As we were attending the nearby Common Ground Fair, our time at the camp was limited, but we appreciated the heated dining hall with 24 hr tea, clean cabin and good pressure in the shower, the animals in the farm, the gorgeous lake. We wish to return another time with more time to try out glass blowing class! A highlight of our evenings was the most clear view we-re ever seen of the Milky Way. If visiting in cold weather, make sure to bring appropriate clothing. The host did warn us in advance of dropping temperatures!

Quiet country, farm setting on a gravel road. Enjoy your stay while watching horses grazing in pastures. The house is uniquely decorated with antiques. Wifi available. Minutes away from quaint town of Brooks, and close to the Maine Atlantic coast.
  • Jane is a great host. She prepared us with delicious breakfast and the house is lovely. Price is also reasonable. I recommend it!

  • Jane's house is remote and was a little difficult for us to find, but Jane was very welcoming and helped us find things in her kitchen so that we could heat up some leftovers. I wish we had had time to go over and see her horses.

  • Great house on a working horse farm. Super relaxing to wake up to. Jane was very hospitable and met us even though we came in late and had breakfast ready when we were up in the morning to head off to Acadia. We had a great conversation. The scenery outside is spectacular. (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps takes you to another address up the road from her house. Keep going a bit after it switches to gravel. It's on the right hand side. The ride there was a roller coaster of mountain roads in the dark. Glad I had the course set in the GPS because signal is sparse around there. Wifi at Jane's house works like a charm. I'd definitely stay there again when I'm in the area.

  • Jane's old American styled home was a cozy and out of the way place to rest my head while in town for classes in Belfast. She was perfectly friendly, hospitable, and respectful of my privacy. Her coffee, muffins and note the next morning were much appreciated and her dog and cats were so cute. Nice views of the Maine scenery and her horses, too. I'd definitely stay again.

  • We didn't find the place at first, the GPS stopped you before to go there so you have to continue on the road and you will see her mailbox. Jane made us feel at home and made breakfast for us in the morning. She's a nice person. The rooms are comfortables. If you want to stay in a peaceful place, go there !

Come visit in summer. Our farmstead is two hour drive to Acadia National Park. You’ll love staying with us to be around farm animals. Plentiful bird song in the morning, frogs chorus at night, Nature up close, a wide porch for visiting and watching the neighbor Amish buggies go by. We welcome couples, and singles or group up to four.
Farmhouse bedrooms on second floor overlooking pasture and woodsy hills. Shared bathroom with shower and tub. Share kitchen with our tenant(s) and plenty of outdoor spaces with deck or covered porch. Unity College students arrive in August to live in our Farmhouse.
  • Annie and Kenneth were gracious hosts; they welcomed us warmly into their home. The farm environment was a fun and eye opening experience, it was a peaceful quiet setting. I would definitely stay there again!

  • Jon & Martha were absolutely wonderful, as was their adorable cabin! It was exactly the simple getaway we were looking for. They made some great suggestions on places to check out. The cabin is very clean & cozy with comfy beds & a nice bathroom (with luxuriously hot showers!). They even have wooded hiking trails on their property. The location worked quite well, too, being fairly close to both the coast & Colby College. I highly recommend this cabin if you're looking for an escape!

    Mellissa2016-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Jon was a very sweet host. The place was nice but it's one flaw is that you couldn't cook in it. Other than a toaster, you have no way of heating food, which forced us to go out and spend more money on food than we would've liked. It's in a rural, pretty location.

    Fae2017-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • Cabin was lovely, charming, light filled and spotlessly clean. Had everything one would need. Jon was very nice and I enjoyed speaking with him about out shared history of the area...Belfast, Knox, Freedom, Thorndike. I lived in the area for many years so it was fun to discover mutual acquaintances and the changes over time. Would love to return for another stay.

Our cabin is a rustic retreat on the shores of Cross Pond. It is a wonderful place for adults and children. You will be serenaded by the call of the loons and Canadian geese. You are welcome to enjoy the waterfront, use our canoes and kayaks, swim and fish We are close to Belfast and Camden, centers of coastal Maine activities. Acadia National Park is 1 hour and 15 minutes away.
  • This was a fantastic place to stay on a lake. The cabin is clean and well appointed. We really loved sleeping in the screened in porch area. Also great were the use of The Kayaks and swimming in the lake. Christine was a wonderful host and they invited us over to join them several times although we were unable to make it. I would strongly recommend this location for anybody interested in staying on a lake in Maine.

    david2017-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • We loved this log cabin getaway in a perfectly bucolic setting on a beautiful lake with awesome nights skies for star gazing..........Christine could not have been more hospitable - we arrived to fresh flowers on the table, wine, coffee, towels and plenty of extra bed linens and flash lights. We enjoyed the paddle board, kayaks, fishing and swimming and just lazing around.........a great place to escape to! Chris even brought us some of her garden tomatoes!!!

    Sharon2016-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay at loonsong!!! Beautiful little cabin with everything you need!! Loved using the canoes and spending time on the clean quiet pond!! Chris and Steve built a beautiful cabin! While they were next door in their home they allowed us to be independent. Great location if you want to have quiet pond time and explore coastal spots/hike in Camden.

    Erin2017-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is beyond lovely, and not an experience you can easily find. You're not just getting a cabin either -- but access to a beautiful lake, with opportunity for canoeing or kayaking. The cabin is 30 min from the charming town of Camden which in my opinion is a must visit. Belfast is cute and local as well. We were most appreciative of Chris and Steve's detailed explanations for everything in the Airbnb, along with their quick responses when we had questions, and last but not least, their generosity. I have already recommended this Airbnb to friends and will continue to do so. Hope to stay again in the future.

    Deb2017-06-07T00:00:00Z
  • This place is incredible. It is quiet, you can hear the loons late at night. The beds are comfortable, and the whole place is set up to allow a ton of fresh air in. The porch is one of the most relaxing places I have ever been, and the hosts are very friendly. They offered us a selection of activities from kayaking, to fishing. We were out at Acadia, but we could easily make a week's stay out of the cabin easily.

    Drew2017-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful place Loonsong is! Private, quiet, darling Maine camp with all the amenities including a wood burning stove for those chilly mornings. Loved having access to kayaks and canoes! Plus Chris and Steve provided so much generosity with homemade granola, the fire ring, extra wood, maps, directions, and everything we could need. A perfect vacation spot for us!

    Phoenix2017-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • The house is just amazing! Steve, Christine's husband, actually built it, and it's cozy and beautiful. Just steps from a big lake (by my Long Island standards) and very private. A relaxing family getaway, with the fun Belfast right down the road. Both Chris and her husband were so nice, and were quick to help out when a minor thing happened with the plumbing. Great trip, highly suggest it!

    Amanda2017-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • LOVED this cabin!! It couldn't have been any better. We enjoyed the peaceful lake view setting, the beautifully landscaped area and the very tidy and super-effecient cabin with its amazing craftmanship handiwork to the cozy bed room for 5 upstairs. We enjoyed the use of the kayaks on the very quiet and quaint lake. Would recommend this to anyone wanting a get-away from busy lives, TV and noise. Lovely- we were SO privileged to be the first time guests- thank you !

Located in the woods of Freedom, Maine, this home is a quiet, peaceful retreat surrounded by incredible birdlife and tall trees. Our spacious, round master bedroom is a romantic honeymoon suite, a writers retreat, or music lovers practice room. We love to rest, read, reflect, or play duets on the piano while the afternoon sun streams in the windows and the vireo sings. In winter months our cozy stove adds comfort and cheer while the snow falls. A separate kitchen/living area has a flat screen TV and skylight. Home-built with love, our house is as peaceful a place as you will find anywhere. If you need more sleeping space we have a rustic guest house you can rent for an additional $50. • This is a lovely, quirky and secluded place to relax and de-stress. A private road leads far enough into the woods to provide a restorative half hour walk in the clean crisp almost-fall weather. The bed was comfortable, and a gas stove took the chill from the air. The kitchen was well-supplied, and several coffee-making choices were provided. The drive to the coast is pleasant and less than an hour. I highly recommend Deb & Jonathan's place. Exactly what I was looking for in a Maine vacation.

    Nora2017-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Jonathan and Deb's house is a great place to be in the midst of nature and observe wildlife, and enjoy the necessary quiet for contemplation and writing. A private road of at least half a mile is yours alone to walk at any time of day, except for occasional sharing with beaver, duck, and deer. Jonathan is a gifted craftsman who has built a unique dwelling in this Walden, and Deb's musical contribution is evident too, especially in the Round Room. At the same time, all the modern conveniences are here, even while you enjoy your time away from the madding crowd.

    Glenn2017-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Deb's Maine Round house is great! Nestled in the middle of the woods with nothing around-it's amazingly peaceful and quiet. The house has everything you need to enjoy your trip, whether you're curling up to read a book or exploring the local woods the location is ideal. It was great waking up in the large bedroom flooded with natural light. My wife and I spent a day relaxing around the house with the dog, walking, reading and exploring. We also took off for Acadia National Park on Sunday making it a great day trip stopping in Belfast on the way home for an amazing dinner at Delvino's! We were looking to unplug from the world and just relax and we found everything we were looking for at Deb's Maine house!

    Peter2015-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • My 4 night stay at the Maine round home was everything I was seeking and more. The hosts Deb & Jonathan communicated from the first day of booking to the last night. Everything about the home is stated clearly in the description . The remoteness and quaintness of the home was perfect for a get-a-away that also involved working daily at The Common Ground Country Fair during the day. Deb & Jonathon checked in with me throughout my stay. When summer turned to fall overnight , Jonathan had a wonderful fire in the wood stove going when I arrived for the evening. I was very happy with the sleeping accommodations, the very cool shower, the beautiful layout, the furnishings, the quiet landscape and lastly the very handsome wood stove. It was the perfect place to land after a long day at the fair. I look forward to my next chance to stay at their wonderful secluded home. Thank you for making my stay easy and relaxing, Michelle

  • We couldn't be happier with our stay and look forward to returning again next year! A magical little corner of the world this is, with friendly hardworking folks and animals too (not to mention yummy food from the Farm Store)! Thank you, Toddy Pond Farm!

  • Great week! We toured the farm and learned about their farming techniques, swam, kayaked and ate the best ice cream I've ever had. Heide and Greg were wonderful hosts and generous with their time and knowledge. My eleven year old was captivated by the farm, especially the pigs, and Greg and Heide took time with her and answered all her questions. The house was light-filled and clean. We ate all our meals on the porch looking out over fields and cows. At night, the only sound was an occasional loon and a cow bell worn by a calf. I miss the peacefulness and would go back in a second.

  • Toddy Pond Farm is like no place in the world. You can read reviews and get a small feel of what each person experienced, but till you experance it for yourself will you not truly understand. Beauty beyond words, hospitality like non other, and a truly unforgettable time to be had by anyone lucky enough to experance Toddy Farm first hand. Just read the walls where visitor have etched their experiences beofe the time of social media and the one consistent is the love for this magical place. With our last minutes there where decided to not say goodbye but we shall see you again. Thanks so much Heide, Greg, Guthrie, Oliver, Shep, and the rest of the support cast of pets and farm anaimals!!!!! We will see you again!!!!

  • Awesome awesome time. Went with friends enjoyed the land, the farm, the animals, the pond. Greg and Heide are great. They make great milk, yogurt and other awesome goodies from the farm. Great property. Great people. Would have loved to stay longer! Hope to go back one day.

  • Wonderful weekend away. Thanks for a great stay. Would highly recommend.

  • Greg and Heide are great hosts. The cottage is well equipped, perfectly clean and absolutely charming. The farm is idealic and the pond is full of fish. Loved the stay and highly recommend the homemade ice creams.

  • Toddy Pond Farm is a wonderful place. The house is in the middle of a large (500 acre) working farm. There is a beautiful view of the lake, it's quiet, and there are animals (sheep, pigs, chickens) to visit. Greg and Heide were great hosts--friendly and helpful. They make wonderful yogurt, kefir, and incredible ice cream sandwiches from their own milk. The house is large (it comfortably accommodated our two families of seven--four adults and three kids), with a fully stocked kitchen. We really enjoyed our stay.

    Serita2014-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful setting with a wonderfully cozy/comfortable cottage! Greg and Heide were awesome hosts--very friendly, courteous and helpful. Great farm store on the property that provided us with some outstanding dairy products and an amazing network of trails for endless snowshoeing and skiing adventures. Excellent location near Belfast and a private setting make this place a winner all around--we'll be back in the summer for sure!

The Middle of Nowhere, but NOT FAR from LOTS. It's 20 minutes to Swan Lake, 45 minutes to Bangor, 25 minutes to the Belfast Coast, 55 minutes from Camden, 1.5 hours to Arcadia National Park. Use it as a base to explore! You'll love the coziness, space, and screened porch. It's great for couples, families (with kids), and big groups. Get a glimpse into real-life Maine from a 19th Century farm house on 10 acres that was put together with pegs originally, and lovingly restored recently!
All the bedrooms are upstairs, as is one bathroom. This house was built, as near as we can tell, about 1820. (Town records were destroyed in a fire in the 1970s). It's been remodeled and expanded several times since. It's a traditional Maine farm house in most respects, with the core part of the house built as a timber framed construction. While we do have some heat, it's not up to Maine winters, and so it's a three season house now. All beds have memory foam mattresses.
The house is just off of Moosehead Trail (Hwy 7) next door to the Jackson Community Center, which has a large field behind it that kids can use. There are woods behind the house that go with the property, great for hiking (use insect repellent!). A stream meanders around the rear of the property also. There's grocery and hardware stores nearby in Brooks (about 10 minutes away). Swan Lake Grocery is about 20 minutes away, and is the best around (love the deli counter!). Fishing is plentiful. Fresh lobster can be had all over the area.
  • We had a big family gathering/vacation at Anthony's house and I have to say that it well exceeded our expectations. It's a very well maintained, clean house. In spite the age of the house, everything works as it should. Very well equipped kitchen. Very clean overall. We couldn't ask more. Thank you, Anthony!

    Andrey2017-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Anthony's home was extremely spacious, clean, cozy, and had everything we ever needed. Anthony was very attentive and accommodating to our travel needs. We were extremely pleased with our stay and would definitely come back again.

    Alexandra2017-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Our family of 7 felt quite at home at Anthony’s “Real Maine Experience.” There was plenty of room for all of us with comfortable beds in each of the 4 bedrooms. The kitchen is well equipped and the home was very clean. Anthony has done a beautiful job of restoring this 1800’s farm house! We especially enjoyed the back porch for meals, cool evenings and the fire pit. There are kayaks in the garage, which we got to enjoy on a lake that is a few miles from the house. We highly recommend Anthony’s home in Jackson Maine!

Welcome to a cozy, private, off-grid cabin on our small organic farm and homestead. Nestled on the edge of the forest, with sunny views of our orchard and fields. Farm-fresh vegetables, fruit and meat available seasonally for cooking in a fully stocked kitchen. We are just up the road from Lake St. George State Park, and a short drive from diverse recreational and dining opportunities. We are 20 minutes from Belfast, a small, bustling coastal town. 35 minutes to Camden. All are welcome!
This cabin is truly special. When we moved here, it was a rustic, dark log cabin and it was the only structure on the farm. Last year we decided to renovate it and now it is a beautiful, bright and welcoming space. The cabin has a double bed in a little bedroom nook, a futon that folds out into a queen sized bed, a kitchen table, a desk space and a fully equipped kitchen with a 4 burner stove and an oven. Whereas this space is in excellent condition, please note that it is currently completely off-grid. This means that there is no electricity, running water or wi-fi in the cabin. During the day it is lit by the sun , at dark it is lit by battery-powered and oil lanterns. The bathroom is a clean outhouse 10 feet from the cabin and the shower is an outdoor solar shower on the side of the cabin. There is both a propane heater for your convenience, as well as a wood-burning stove. Upon your arrival there will be 3 gallon water jugs filled with fresh well-water. There is also a water pump 25 feet from the house where you can always refill! This is an opportunity to stay in a comfortable, finished cabin while also taking a moment to unplug from the daily grind.
Montville is a secret gem of a town. Whereas it feels off-the-beaten-path it is also centrally located and within reach of many bustling towns and recreational areas. We live 5 miles from Lake St. George State Park, where there is swimming, boating, a nice playground and grilling sites. We are minutes from several Midcoast Conservancy Hiking Trails. Our farm is located on secluded part of a beautiful country road and if you continue walking or biking down our road, you will come to old, maintained fields mixed with forest and eventually a little bridge passing over the Sheepscot River. Within a 5- 40 minute drive you can access dozens of other hiking trails, biking trails, boating opportunities, several state parks, restaurants, local breweries, independent movie theaters, shops etc. Liberty village is 8 minutes away with the famous Liberty Tool Co., Belfast is 20 minutes with the Belfast Food Co-Op and many restaraunts, Camden Hills area is 35 minutes, Waterville is 35 minutes, Unity and the Commonground Fairgrounds is 20 minutes and Acadia National Park 1.5 hours.
  • Thanks so much for hosting us! Everything was great, the communication beforehand, the cabin was very clean and had everything we could need.. nice sheets, cute rustic decor, wood for campfires, cookware, oil lamps for lighting, etc. All of this with the background of the beautiful scenery of your farm. The farm is pretty close to the coast of Maine too, where we visited the cute little city of Belfast and the magnificent Acadia National Park. We all had a great time and I'd be more than happy to come back someday!!

  • Maia and Jacob's cabin is incredible! They went out of their way to ensure that we had a great stay, and stocked the cabin full of fun finds. They have a great book and game collection, and have a fully equipped kitchen for all cooking needs. This cabin very comfortably accommodates four people, and has room on the floor for additional sleeping bags / mattresses. The propane heater was great for adjusting the temperature. Overall I would absolutely recommend this cabin - clean, comfy and charming. We had a great time & hope to be back soon!

  • Just got back from an incredibly peaceful weekend. The cabin was perfect for my wife, myself, and our dog. It was wonderful to be able to relax without the constant hum of electricity (the cabin is completely off-grid), but to be able to stay warm and comfortable inside. The propane heater has more than enough power to heat the place. On our first night, the temperature dropped to the low 40's, so we turned on the heat for ~20 minutes; that was plenty of time to get the place warm and toasty. Maia and Jacob are great hosts. They gave us privacy while we were there, but were quick to respond to questions via email (amazingly, there is great cell service at the cabin) We were sad to leave, and will almost definitely return.

  • Beautiful, cozy place. The farm is amazing. We loved the rustic off-grid experience. Bring some ice if you want to keep perishable food cool; there is a cooler you can put it in. Their farm-grown produce and eggs were delicious.

100 acres of fields, woods, and trails. Accommodations include a standard double bed, private room, your own private bath, and breakfast. Other meals and small bar optional on donation. Free WiFi and satellite television.
This is an active sheep farm with two horses, one cat, one dog and five hens.
  • We choose our Airbnb stays during our 7 month on the road traveling for a variety of reasons. Experiencing life as a sheep farmer in Maine drew us to stay here. We learned because Doug was willing to share his journey. We enjoyed our outside happy hour and yummy breakfasts with our gracious, flexible and warm host. Airbnb's for us is about the hosts we meet.

    Russell2017-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • We spent a night at Douglas's place. It is a lovely spot and Douglas is a charming and interesting host, very hospitable and a great conversationalist. This is a farm with sheep, horses, chickens, cat and a gorgeous German Shepherd called Sarge. It is in a beautiful setting and the house is old and full of character. Douglas provided us with a very tasty breakfast to send us on our way. A memorable AirBnB experience.

    Tim2017-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I were looking for a last-minute getaway for the weekend and Doug was awesome and accommodated our last minute request and even stayed up to let us check in late. It is an absolutely wonderful experience to be on the farm, and the land is beautiful to walk around. It truly feels like you are away from everything, but it's a short drive into Belfast, and you can also get to the Isleboro ferry and the surrounding beaches quickly. Doug was very sweet to our dogs we brought with, and Sarge, his German Shepard, is very sweet as well. Doug also takes the b&b part of air bnb seriously and provided hot breakfast in the morning complete with eggs from the farm and local sausage. All in all, this was a wonderful experience and we can't wait to go back!

    Christine2017-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay with Douglas. The farm house was lovely and the surroundings were gorgeous! Douglas greeted us upon arrival and after settling in he offered us a glass of wine as we sat and visited. Douglas was a delight to talk with. Douglas served us breakfast and took us on a walk around his property in the morning. He has sheep, horses and a dog, Seargent. As I said before, the property is gorgeous! We loved this stay and highly recommend It!

    Crystal2016-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay with Douglas at Mending Wall Farm was phe-nomenal! His excellent communication began before our stay when he checked in about our pet and called the day of to coordinate our arrival time. He was easy to get in touch with and quick to respond, without being overbearing. We arrived after dark having traveled all day, and we immediately felt comfortable. He offered to have a drink and chat with us, but respected our wishes to go straight to bed as we were exhausted. In the morning we woke at our leisure to the coffee ready to be brewed. He kept the sheep in late for us so we could see them frolic off to the fields! After and ahMAINEzing breakfast (hyper-local!!!!), Douglas and Sarge went for a walk through the pastures with us to see the unparalleled fall foliage and the sheep and horses grazing. We had to leave pretty quickly but would have LOVED to be able to stay for another several days! 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for a unique and relaxing stay at a beautiful Maine farm.

    Jessy2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking to decompress and commune with nature, this is a fantastic place. Douglas is the perfect host. Both gives you your space, but should you like, he is an extremely interesting person who can speak intelligently on many subjects. We had wonderful conversations with him over wine at happy hour. Our room was small but charming with a lovely 4 poster bed and many antiques, books, etc. It also has 3 windows for lots of fresh air. We had a private television in the room but we did not use it. It has a very private entrance and is well appointed with what you need. There is a large private bath directly connected to the room so it is like having your own apartment on the farm. The grounds are stunning and allow for great walks with ponds, wildflowers, prairies, and forests. I really enjoyed being amongst the sheep, chickens, and horses. The enclosed yard is very relaxing with views of the animals and scenery. And of course, Sarge the dog is a great host too! I highly recommend a stay at the farm with Douglas.

    Diane2017-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • Finding the farmhouse was very easy. He was extremely accommodating. He offered us delicious wine upon our arrival. My boyfriend and I have enjoyed the intellectual conversation we had with Douglas. We would love to visit with him again! You won't be disappointed.

    Laura2017-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • What a gorgeous house and farm. Douglas is a wonderful host! The decent-size flock of Katadhin sheep on the working farm add to the lovely mystique of this well appointed place to stay.

A second-floor studio apartment on Main Street in Unity, very close to Unity College and to restaurants and stores. Has its own WiFi and is air-conditioned. The kitchen area has a coffee pot, electric kettle, toaster oven, fridge, and microwave. There is no stove.
No smellies here. We launder our linens with free and clear detergent and line dry them in season. The 93 Main Coffee Shop is downstairs. Open 7 am to 4 pm, serves breakfast and lunch.
  • Jean is a generous and gracious host. This small apartment is quiet and clean, in a quiet town. The coffee shop below offers coffee and grub. Nearby is a long trail through fields and woods. Highly recommend.

One of us had forgotten our toothbrush and there were toothbrushes, toothpaste mouthwash, soaps, plenty of towels, clean linens, the space was clean, the heater worked fine. And the fridge well stocked with bottled water... The host even provided coffee, creamers teas and hot chocolate! It was just a lovely stay! Thank you!

Hi Travelers! We have changed our rental space since Sept 2017. This is now a Private Room in a Shared House. Therefor, the reviews written before this time might be misleading regarding accommodations. The reviews regarding how awesome we are are still accurate. :)
A bit about the house: It's rustic. There is often remodeling going on. There will be dust. The hot water is only good for a 20 minute shower. Cell services are spotty at best. We're working on it; we're just not there yet. I'm also sad to write that at this time we cannot accept people with small children. There are often construction projects going on, and in our backyard is a pond and marsh; things that are not safe for kids. Not super safe for those who are prone to tripping over/ falling into things either. We know who we are. Will keep you posted for when things improve. The guest bedroom is downstairs. It comfortably sleeps one or two. For those of you who really, really want to bring a third person, we can squeeze in a cot for them. If you are super adventurous and want to bring more friends/family, just message us and we'll talk about it. Darrell and I sleep upstairs unless we are traveling/working. We sometimes have other travelers, friends or family staying with us. Did I mention there is only one bathroom for everyone? We have a long-haired indoor cat. She is old and will often start meowing loudly in the middle of the night. For no apparent reason. We don't know how to make her not do this. Please be okay with a stubborn cat. The kitchen is large with a wood stove and propane heater used to keep warm. The cooking stove is propane. We will provide you some breakfast items (varies by season) and you are very welcome to join us in the kitchen. Our home sits on 50 acres, with a few other family homes on the property.
The neighborhood consists mostly of trees. They'll let you hug them should you choose.

  • We loved our visit to Here be Chickens. The owners left fresh eggs and blueberries for our breakfast, and gave us a short tour of the farm. But we still had plenty of privacy and time to explore the funky space where they have left a lifetime of artwork and keepsakes, from pink conch shells to a tiny wood stove, books and paintings. Swanville is not far from Belfast at all, and we woke to a gorgeous blanket of fog covering the earth each morning along this rural area. Perfect stay for the price!

  • I had a great stay with Donna at Here Be Chickens. The house was wonderful and quirky as promised. Donna was lovely and charming. The chickens were very cool as was the whole property. It was a quick jaunt into Belfast and I had a nice dinner at a pub. I just wish I had more time stay. Outstanding value.

  • I wanted a unique experience and got one with my stay here. What you read and what you see in the photos is what you get. I can now understand why Libby reiterated in email the expectations. She checked with me about my arrival time and told me about the note that would be tapped to the door. It was there but her cousin Ted heard the car and came around to give me a tour...which was appreciated. I had the entire place to myself. The bed and pillows are comfortable. The comforter was good and the heater when placed properly did its job. The living room space upstairs has books and downstairs there are CD 's and CD player clock combo. There is no WiFi or TV and it is so quiet when in the living room that I could hear the pen on the paper. The kitchen has a gas stove and I used the tea kettle. Libby had a loaf of bread and Apple's along with oat meal on the counter. My favorite was the blueberry honey which I enjoyed with tea. She also had milk and bottled water in the fridge...which was nice. Her Mom Donna came to check on me in the am and we chatted for a bit and she shared the story about her parent's which wad nice to hear. My favorite moment about this stay was how everything looked in the full moon light. I am very happy to have taken the opportunity of staying at this place and enjoying the ambience of this wonderful little house. Oh!!! You have to check out the chickens.

  • This is an amazing retreat. No wifi, which I loved! Tucked in the middle of nowhere Maine, which is just what we needed. I got great sleep. It's over an hour away from Bar Harbor but it was a lovely ride. Here Be Chickens is very spacious. Hot water was limited but with 2 people we were fine. If there were more that might be an issues for showers. Libby and Donna were kind enough to provide milk, eggs, cranberry-grape juice, maple syrup and homemade apple butter. Very generous! Coffee machine is available but I brought my own Nespresso machine. :) I highly recommended this place. Wish we had time to meet the chickens but we were gone all day. I love Maine and hope to be back someday soon! Gracias, Libby & Donna!

  • I highly recommend this house. The place is beautiful and surrounded by nature. The house has a lot of soûl and we felt home so easily. It is clean, spacious and beautiful decorated. Donna also nicely put fresh eggs in the fridge, cakes and other delicious food. This place is perfect for a family or friends. Acadia National Park is one hour from the house. This house is my best airbnb experience thanks to Donna and her beautiful place. I hope to come back !

  • Loved this place. Brand new. Comfortable, quiet, great lighting (I find that important often showing up later in the day). Very thoughtful, I'm spoiled and really appreciated the snacks, water, and an organized what you need to know guide book, nice touch. Beds are new, which lead to a great nights sleep. Plenty to do in the area. I will stay again and again. Thanks Amy & Jeremy

  • This place was great! Super clean and everything you could possibly imagine you could need was there! It felt like I was stopping in for a visit with family that had everything set up for a perfect visit. Since we were visiting my son at Unity College, the location couldn't have been better and saved the 30 minute drives back and forth to Waterville that we usually have to make. The only thing that kept this from being the perfect spot was the lack of a private in-room bathroom (it is a beautiful but shared bathroom in the common hallway). That being said, there was never an issue with being able to use the bathroom when we needed it and this will certainly not prevent us from staying next time we come to visit!

Located on 45 acres of organic Maine farmland, there is plenty of space to spread out and explore. This camper is off grid and a rustic experience. Powered by a generator, there is a composting outhouse, outdoor on-demand hot water shower, and small fire pit.
This classic turquoise and gold camper is actually a time machine that will take you back to a simpler era. Inside you have a stove and oven, a dining table, and three beds. Out side, you have a sink, a composting outhouse and a private shower. While there is no pluming out in the orchard, we have an outdoor on-demand hot water shower and fresh drinking water inside the camper.
Just down the road, in the town of Brooks , there is a lovely community owned natural food store Co Op. Further away, about 20 minutes, you'll find the town of Belfast. Belfast is the quintessential Maine harbor town. There you'll find wonderful restaurants, a historic theater, a fabulous city park, beautiful views, shopping and more. We also have Swan Lake park that is about a 15 minute drive where there are playgrounds, grills, and a gorgeous lake for swimming.
  • Staying at Becca's camper is a once in a lifetime experience! It definitely takes some comfort with the outdoors , but few things top waking up with the sun on a farm. I would definitely recommend if you're looking for a unique accommodation.

  • My boyfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed the time we spent in Becca's quaint little camper. We arrived on Friday afternoon, and Becca was there the greet us as we pulled up. The generator had already been turned on and she had a sheet ready for us with details on all the other things we would need to know during our stay (how to work the generator, shower, outhouse, where to wash dishes, etc). We loved the look and feel of the vintage camper, and there were plenty of blankets and towels for us if we needed them. Unfortunately, the weather was not on our side for the weekend and it ended up pretty rainy and chilly. This made the camper cold, which is something to keep in mind when planning your stay. There was a down comforter on the bed, plus two blankets and a sheet, so we didn't have a problem during the night. When the rain had died down later the first night, Becca offered to help us start a fire in the pit right outside. We had plenty of privacy during our stay, and Becca and her family were kind enough to help us out the few times we had questions. Overall, the communication was fantastic, the camper was comfortable, and we would most definitely consider staying here again if we end up in the area.

  • Long story short, my boyfriend and I booked for one night on our trip however our flight was two hours late and my boyfriend left his debit card at a restaurant and we had to backtrack 40 miles, after a long day of travel and a couple hours of driving we ended up having to get a hotel. However Becca was great throughout the whole process with communication. She was willing to accommodate a late check in and provided us with all of the information we needed to get settled in. I regret that we were not able to stay in her camper.

  • This place is such a great getaway spot. Coming from the city looking for somewhere to get away from the noise and get the smell of fresh air, this little cozy trailer is just what the doctor ordered!

  • Loved my stay, it was a great and unique getaway. Becca was super communicative, and left me an awesome garlic bouquet! Only thing that wasn't my favorite was walking to the outhouse along the electric fence. In the dark, that poses a problem if you're not watching where you're going. I just took my time walking over there..

  • This was a lovely way to see rural Maine. Had a ton of fun by the bonfire.

  • Becca's place is well worth it! The camper and surrounding area is very cute. Becca left us a note about the generator and some other things to know about using the camper. The outhouse was spotless. My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our stay and wish we had more time there. The sunrise is beautiful from the farm! I really got a kick out of the animals as well! Stay here if you get the chance!!
