All 16 of us ladies absolutely loved it! The house was just beautiful. The bedrooms were big and beds were sooo comfy! Everything was just so spacious and it had everything we needed! The pool area and outdoor area was amazing, we dropped on with the weather too which made it even better! On the Saturday we booked 2 minibus’ and went in to Leeds City Centre which cost us around £3 each which was amazing. I honestly would love to go back & I deffo know the girls would too! All messages to Phil and Cath were replied to quickly as well, they answered any questions we had straight away and were so helpful. All in all it’s been a great weekend and the best hen do ever! Thanks so much Sophie Ryalls - Fac3b00k (June 2018) Planned my sisters hen do at The Vicarage hen party house, and we all loved it from start to finish ! Cath and Phil was amazing from booking to us leaving, would recommend and will be returning in the future ! Thank you xx Joanne Swift - Fac3b00k (June 2018) Just returned from an amazing weekend at The Vicarage. The house is absolutely stunning , loads of space, hosting space and the pool and jacuzzi are fab. We have made some amazing memories here and Cath and Phil have been fab such lovely people and hosts from booking stage up until our time of stay nothing is ever too much trouble Thanks again. Kim Nielsen-Hill - Fac3b00k (May 2018) We have just got back from the most brilliant weekend at The Elms in Garforth. It is fair to say that most of us walked around open mouthed on arrival delighting at our lush weekend accommodation. The house was amazing with plenty of space for our 14 hens. There are a number of smaller living rooms for chilling out and a large longue and kitchen for music and dancing. For those of you who like a sleep the bedrooms are large and well spaced out so you never feel like you are on top of each other or disturbed by late night revelry. The beds are all comfortable and our brides room had an Austin Powers round style bed complete with ensuite. The house is well equipped with everything a hen could ask for including two large fridges and a wine fridge. We were easily able to cater for the 14 of us (pizzas and bacon sarnies) without issue. The dishwasher also came in very handy! The outside area is huge and picturesque with enough room for group outdoor games or sunbathing. We used the swimming pool and hot tub a great deal and enjoyed having the sun shining in through the large patio windows and equally enjoyed the coloured night lights. The pool handily has a shower room and toilet next to it so you could stay there all day if you are a mermaid type. At the front of the house the sun shines late into the evening and we enjoyed sitting around together drinking wine at the patio tables and chairs. The hen house really has thought of everything and is fully equipped. The house appears to be in the middle of no where and you have a real sense of country life however it really is very well situated and through a grass snicket Tescos, Garforth and the station can be easily reached within 5 - 10 minutes. Phil and Cath have been flexible and supportive throughout our communications and they respond quickly to emails. They provide excellent information about the local area, directions and possible activities. We ended up going to one of their restaurant recommendations and the food was outstanding. Booking the Elms was made easy and Cath was incredibly warm and welcoming on our arrival and throughout the tour. I cannot fault the Elms nor Cath and Phil. I would definitely book the Elms again and would highly recommend the house, the location and the excellent service provided by Phil and Cath. We had a fabulous time. Thank you. Leander Nield - Fac3b00k (May 2018)
  • Had a grate time staying here for my sisters hen party... The perfect place for 13 of us to stay and enjoy the house and the pool :-) Cath and Phil are lovely made us feel welcome. Would recommend this to anyone seeking accommodation for a large group Thanks guys

  • Brilliant experience. Phil and Cath guided us through our first airb&b. Good contact and very flexible with their approach to things.

  • Phil and Cath's place is wonderful. I hired it for two nights for a hen weekend (12 ladies in total) and it exceeded all my expectations. Phil is a great guy to deal with, extremely personable, friendly and helpful right from the start. He went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable throughout our stay. He even picked up and dropped some of us off at the station for which we were very grateful for. The house is really lovely with plenty of space and everything you could ever need. Of course we spent loads of time in the pool and jacuzzi. The 'disco shower' (as we named it) in the bathroom adjacent to the master bedroom was also a firm favourite! The bride to be has expressed it was the best weekend of her life and I’ve no doubt the house played a big part in her experience. The rest of the hens all want to join me in saying thanks to Phil and his family for being so hospitable to us- we really had a great time and it made the hen party a very special experience.

  • Nine of stayed for the weekend for a family celebration, ranging in age from 3 to 70. It was the perfect place for us, the pool was well used. The support from Phil and Cath before our stay, and on the day of arrival was invaluable as were the excellent tips for rainy day activities for all the family.

  • I had been searching for ages for the perfect place to stay for my friends hen do, so I was relieved when I came across Phil and Cath's and it was available :-) From the moment we arrived Cath and Phil made us feel very welcome and excited to be there, with a big reveal of the pool and Jacuzzi on the tour around the house, which the hen had no idea about. We used the house as a base for the weekend and went out in Leeds on the Saturday night which was only 15/20mins away in the taxi and then spent the Sunday enjoying the pool and jacuzzi which we all loved! The couple went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time, even putting away the home shop we arranged to arrive just before we got there. All these things really helped make it weekend none of us will forget! Thanks both x

  • Booking The Hen Party House for one of my best friends hen do is one of the best things I've ever done. The house was beautiful and immaculately kept. The facilities were all amazing, the 'party' room was fantastic and spacious and the pool and jacuzzi are brilliant additions to the house. Our bride to be was completely blown away at what we managed to book for her and it all came to a very reasonable price. The hosts Cath and Phil were perfect. They were so so friendly and accommodating and offered so much help from receiving our home delivery food order to advising us on places to eat/drink/local activities. They gave us a very lovely tour around the house on arrival and were easily contactable should anything go wrong over the weekend (which it didn't, but it was great knowing they were just around the corner). I would definitely recommend The Hen Party House to absolutely anyone and I would not hesitate in booking to stay in Cath and Phils beautiful house again. If I were to rate our stay in stars it would be a 100* holiday

  • Phil & cath greeted us and did a tour of the house, showed us how things worked they were very helpful and friendly and told us they aren't far away if we need anything to call them. The house was amazing & the pool and jacuzzi was the best we all loved it.

  • Organising a hen do can be stressful, but Phil and Cath made the whole process so easy! Not only do they have a beautiful house with the most amazing indoor pool area, they were always on hand to recommend activities and to give help throughout the whole weekend if needed. Our beautiful bride-to-be had always wanted to take part in a murder mystery weekend, so I asked Phil if he knew anyone he could recommend. The murder mystery itself had to take part around a 3 course meal, so Phil put me in touch with the relevant people who organised everything to make the evening go without a hitch! The chef was fantastic, and the murder mystery actors had us all laughing from start to finish – we all had an amazing night! A massive thank you to Phil and Cath for being so welcoming and for letting us use their home :o)

  • Huge thanks to Sara for an amazing hen weekend! Sara was fantastic and did all she could to keep the booking process stress-free. The house is beautiful and the mothers of the bride and groom both really appreciated having the free-standing bath!

    Ian2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great place for a family gathering. We were 9 adults and had plenty of space and never felt on top of each other. Sara was there to meet us and show us around the property to make sure all went well. Great wifi reception. It’s very close to the local coop so easy to walk to if you need anything and there’s also a nice butchers nearby. Thanks Sara for making us so welcome.

    Andrea2017-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • This accommodation is excellent. The photos make it look good, but in reality it's even better! The service received was top class. Sara phoned me a week before to run through everything I needed to know. There was someone there to greet us on arrival and answer any questions we had. Sara got in touch on the day of departure to check how things had been. This property represents amazing value for money. Enjoy, we did :-)

  • Beautiful house. Great hot tub. Made to feel a little uncomfortable before hand when trying to slightly alter reservation but Mike and Kim made up for it with welcome hamper and kind words. Would say the area is quiet but perfect if you want a relaxing weekend get away. Probably wouldn't stay longer than a weekend.

    Rachel2017-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • The host canceled this reservation 5 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.

    Emma2016-04-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had a brilliant weekend in the cottage. The cottage itself has everything you could possibly want, but obviously we especially liked the hot tub! Kim was a fantastic host, she was always at the other end of the phone if we had any questions. Thank you so much for the hamper full of goodies, it was very thoughtful of you, really made us feel welcome!

    Leanne2016-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Great place

    Gareth2017-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • Good stuff: loads of space, big well-equipped kitchen, lovely village location with little shop nearby (see 'Not so good stuff'), FABULOUS hit tub, lovely wood stove in lounge and coal fire in kitchen (we used both for fun but the central heating would have been fine), friendly touch to have a welcome card and some chocolate etc. Thank-you Not so good bits: not much loo roll (quick dash to local shop!), unwashed towels in washing machine and very grubby dressing gown with yellow toothbrush in the pocket, but biggest bugbear was / is how difficult it has been to resolve minor issues due to poor communication. Two weeks later my friend is still trying to get het wash bag returned which she left behind. It's a shame because it's spooling it a bit for her. On balance I'd definitely still recommend this lovely cottage for couples / families / groups.

    Kate2016-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • Great house. We had a wonderful weekend!

    Alina2016-11-20T00:00:00Z
  • Kim's cottage is amazing. It was so clean and warm and all of the beds and sofas so comfy! The cottage is in a lovely picturesque area which was lovely to walk around. The hot tub was the highlight of the weekend, very warm , almost forgot it was still winter! We will definitely visit again soon, I've never stayed in a nicer home

  • A wonderfully relaxing stay. This was our first Airbnb stay and Sharron was so welcoming and made us feel at ease straight away. The annex was lovely and cosy, the bedroom and bathroom clean and comfortable. Sharron recommended and booked for us The boundary restaurant (with a 20% discount) and the food was lovely! You would need to get a taxi there which Sharron left us a number for. All in all a perfect weekend get away to the country, easy to find and not far from the motorway. Thank you Sharron

  • What a jewel! Such a perfect place to stay with the best host ever. We had the most relaxing time and I couldn't recommend The Poplars high enough. Sharon is delightful making sure we had a lovely fire to come home to each night. Great welcome basket and even tame rabbits in the garden!

  • Another lovely stay at the Poplars, a real home from home whilst working away. Courteous and welcoming hosts and can't wait to stay again!

    Lisa2015-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying here. It was beautifully furnished, comfortable, a lovely outside area to sit in (with fairy lights!) The finishing touches of fresh croissants, milk etc were most welcome. Very easy access to the centre of Leeds, as well as nice rural pub recommended for lunch. We had a lovely stay - highly recommended.

    Fran2017-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay in The Barn. Sharon couldn't have done any more for us and the whole experience was just very relaxing and enjoyable. A sofa, or chair big enough for 2, would have been the icing on the cake to enjoy a glass of wine in front of the fire but all in all a great place to stay. Breakfast was beyond anything we could have expected with plenty of choice too.

Mallard is a traditional cottage with wonderful original features including beams and barrelled ceilings in both the dining room and kitchen. It is tucked away high above the river, reached directly by a path and has a lovely view from its own garden to the sheltered woodland beyond. The wonderfully healing and relaxing hot tub is available for an additional cost.
Mallard is in a quiet conservation area and is only suitable for people who are willing to be respectful of the peaceful nature of the setting. Mallard has both a small kitchen and small separate dining room with a unique barelled ceiling. It is a spacious cottage for two adults with a large sitting room and bedroom with delightful views over the garden and beyond. The hot tub (optional charges apply see below) has a wonderful view out over the garden to the countryside beyond. The garden is very quiet, the only noise is from the river rushing far below when it is in full flood. Because it is so quiet, noise carries easily, so the cottage is only suitable for people who are prepared to respect the quiet conservation area and keep it quiet. We have had complaints from the neighbours on the main road that some guests have been very noisy too late at night. Guests guilty of this in future will be asked to leave immediately. The master bedroom is very spacious and has a super king size bed (6') and an en-suite shower room. The second bedroom is very, very small and is accessed through the master bedroom, so it was originally intended to be a dressing room or study. There is just room for a small bed and bedside table as you can see in the photos, there is no storage space. It is suitable for a child, or two small children, or an adult who is good friends and willing to share the dressing, storage space & en-suite with the occupant/s of the master bedroom.
Holmfirth is a quirky village, as woderfully showcased in the TV series Last of the Summer Wine. It is ideal for hikers and cyclists, but also for people who want to wander its quaint cobbled streets and enjoy the market and numerous shops, pubs and restaurants and other attractions. There is also a live music venue - the Picturedrome. The centre of the village is a ten minute walk down hill from the cottage. The walks can be accessed right from the door. Holme Moss with its spectacular views is the steepest climb on the Yorkshire section of the Tour de France and is a short cyle ride / drive away. The river running through the village always has lots of ducks to feed and there is the famous annual Holmfirth Duck race and many annual festivals including the Festival of Folk, the Arts Festival and the Food and Drink Festival.
  • We had a fantastic time here. Angela met us to show us to the cottage and we arrived to a wonderful hamper full of goodies for us and even for our dog Murphy! The cottage was a great location in the beautiful village of Holmfirth and we enjoyed some wonderful walks nearby with our dog. I would definitely recommend this cottage and we will most definitely be going back to stay.

    Samantha2016-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very relaxing stay in Holmfirth for my partner's birthday. Angela was lovely from the minute we booked and even let us know the roads were icy near the cottage when we text her to say we were setting off. Check in was informative but not too long. Angela showed us round the cottage, how to use the hot tub and gave us other helpful information such as local walks. The cottage itself is lovely. It has everything you need for a home away from home. The hot tub is really relaxing after a day out walking and the log burner is perfect for a cosy night in front of the tv. The welcome hamper was a fab gesture and my partner's birthday present was a very thoughtful gift. We definitely plan to return to Angela's cottage and will be recommending it to family and friends. Thank you for a fab weekend.

    Lois2017-01-30T00:00:00Z

  • Stayed at Mallard Cottage for 5 days and it was such a lovely, peaceful, comforting place to stay. Holmfirth was just a 10 minute walk (if that) away. The cottage was well equipped with lovely personalised touches around. Angela is a great host with an attention to detail, who provided us with a lovely hamper and homemade cakes on arrival. The communication with Angela was brilliant and there is nothing I could fault.

    Ella2017-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Angela was great straight off from the booking, asking of any requirements that we had for our stay. When our plans changed st short notice she was very accommodating, changing her plans to get the cottage ready for our earlier than planned arrival. Overall, a great stay with an awesome hot tub and cute additions like a little hamper and homemade cakes!

    Lewis2016-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • Had a really lovely stay at this cosy little cottage. The amazing hamper and gift provided for my partners birthday were such a nice touch and it was so kind of Angela to provide these. Angela really has thought of everything to make sure your stay is perfect. The cottage is extremely close to the centre of Holmfirth and we walked down the hill and ate out twice during our stay. The hot tub was great after a long day of walking. Hugely recommend Angela’s lovely cottage you will not be disappointed.

Peaceful old house in Dewsbury, with fast WI-FI, easy access to motorways & on direct train line from Manchester Airport, and to Leeds and York. Space to park inside our garden. Public transport to Yorkshire Moors, Huddersfield, Leeds, Bradford, Wakefield, Ossett & a walk from Red Brick Mill.
You are all welcome of course, not just arty people! We live in an old Victorian house, built in 1872, set in a private crescent, so away from traffic. Jorge is a cameraman and editor, as well as our technology Mr. Fixit! I (Elaine) am the artist and wedding photographer. Between us we speak several European languages: Greek, Spanish, German, French & Italian. Dewsbury is near several major towns (Leeds, Huddersfield, Bradford, Wakefield, under 10 miles apart) and has easy access to both M1 and M62 so you can explore from our home as a base. We have super fast WI-FI, and in house techie (Jorge). The internet password is in our house manual which Airbnb send you once you have confirmed your booking. If you like walking there are several lovely walks and woods nearby too, I am veggie but my husband is a carnivore so if you would like to share a meal with us, just let me know. We often travel with our wedding photography and video work - to all sorts of places abroad, so understand how important it is to feel at home when away from home...much more fun than a hotel! See our guidebook for bus and train station locations: London (189 miles), Leeds (10 miles), Bradford (10 miles), Huddersfield (10 miles), Wakefield (6 miles), Sheffield (30 miles), Manchester (40 miles). Happy to meet you from the train and to either walk up with you to show you the footpath, or to pick you up by car if we are around at the time you arrive. Message me if you'd like help checking best public transport routes, as happy to look them up for you. If you fancy a bike ride to get around the various Greenways, and Canal tow-paths in the area, you can borrow one of our mountain bikes if you like too. You will still need to go up at least one hill to get back to us though I'm afraid, but if I can do it, am sure you can too. No worries if you choose to push it for the last bit though of course! xx Elaine & Jorge
We love the peace and quiet, set among old Victorian houses. and easy access to main motorways East-West (M62) and North South (M1), large towns nearby for interesting experiences and night life, and quick access to open countryside and Yorkshire Moors. Dewsbury itself is an old town, with buildings in the centre mainly from the same era as our house. Market days are Wednesdays and Saturdays, where you will see a variety of stalls selling clothes, food, and electrical goods. Apart from several large supermarkets, the town centre is mainly pound shops and charity shops so for serious shoppers Leeds, Bradford, Wakefield or Huddersfield are more likely to be of interest. Crow Nest Park is an easy walk away - about 10 minutes - and features in some of the photos on our listing.
  • Elaine and Jorge are the most caring, warm hearted and kind people you can possibly wish to meet during travelling. They made us feel like home since very first moment we came and even made a small sweet birthday party for our little baby boy! The house is full of art and smell of great coffee :) And we would surely like to stay with them again if life will bring us back to UK!

    Mia2011-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • I had to unfortunately cut my visit to Elaine’s short, but I must say, it’s quite a unique getaway in the English countryside. The neighborhood is peaceful, the house is aged to the degree of an antique itself, and is so wonderfully covered with Elaine’s beautiful paintings. I could have perused them for days! I find it necessary to note that this is most certainly an "artist’s den”, complete with personal clutter and a lived-in decor. If you are overly tidy, you may have difficulty. As for the hosts, I found Elaine to be energetic and talkative, and Jorge very kind. Thank you for your accommodation and understanding!

    Taylor2014-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Elaine's home is far from ordinary and I mean that in a good way. It has charm and warmth, which I take to be a good reflection of Elaine herself. I would be very happy to visit again.

    Victor2017-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Elaine and Jorge were friendly and charming hosts. Stayed in a large room which had been thoughtfully provided with practically all you need regarding food preparation/storage and other helpful things. The bed was very comfortable. I will certainly visit again.

    Nicholas2017-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • Book yourself into Elaine’s AirBnB! You can’t prepare for the artwork you’ll see. And the kindest hosts, That Dewsbury boasts: Slippers on, stories told, mind carefree! Thanks for a lovely stay Elaine & Jorge. Xx

  • Believe me!! This is that one of the greatest experience we ever had. We liked it so much that we will come again. Thank you Elaine, you are very kind person. Thanks for the dinner, that was great to see your very nice family and had an unexpected dinner with them. People, Dewsbury is a nice place but AirBnB experience by Elaine's place is great!

  • Really enjoyed my stay in Matthew's bright and modern house. The view of the bowling green and distant rolling hills from the front room is very pleasant, offering a perfect place to relax with a book or drink coffee and engage in some general chit chat with friends. There's a great pub called The Grove about 15 minutes walk away, which offers a vast selection of beers, which some might find appealing. The uni is also a short walk away. Overall a great place to stay, especially at this price.

    Sean2017-03-24T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay in Matthew’s apartment... it was very clean and tidy... I also like the fact that they made home made bread for us, I thought it was a really nice touch...

  • You can expect a wonderful house with a breathtaking view to Caste Hill, the landmark of Huddersfield. The well-equipped kitchen makes it easy to prepare breakfast or meals the best of all: we already found milk, butter, juice, coffee, tea and whatever a tired traveller need in the fridge. I really can't imagine a better start! Matthew and his wife (and the two kids) are wonderful hosts, attentive, friendly and helpful. We can't wait to come back again! Stefan & Marion (Germany)

This two Bedroomed apartment,in the home of Ackley Bridge in Halifax, is over two floors, and is in a wonderfully restored building. It is very centrally located so is ideal for anyone working, in the town, or here to enjoy the vibrant nightlife. Close by are bus and trains, with easy access to Leeds and Manchester, and local towns, like Hebden Bridge. It is a short walk from the newly restored Piece Hall, and the children's museum Eureka.
Large airy apartment in lovely old restored building. It is on the top two floors so there are stairs to go up. Some one will be hand to carry your luggage up. We run the pub opposite so keys can be collected and dropped of there.
Town center location, with many shops, restaurants, pubs and clubs in the nearby vicinity. Pay and display parking, which is free between, 6pm and 8am. And its free on Sundays
  • Garry's house is fantastic, very good situated and warm.

    Raul2016-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Charming and very central location. Communication with Garry was easy.

    Benjamin2017-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • We love staying in Garry's flat. Always lovely and clean, plenty of space to move around and feel right at home. Great location being right in the town centre. Can usually find a place to park though can be difficult during peak times. If you don't mind a bit of noise (when nightclub around corner is open) then we highly recommend this property. Fantastic value for money. Garry responded to messages very fast and was very accommodating, especially when we had an earlier than expected arrival time.

  • Great location, lovely spacious apartment and friendly greeting from Garry. Would recomend to anyone.

  • All good lovely place too stay, right in middle of town, lively place, easy parking, great host, pizza place next door and pub across the road ,ideal as base for surrounding area .

    Rob2017-03-27T00:00:00Z
  • Garry was very welcoming. The apartment was just as described - spacious and in the centre of Halifax. Garry had warned us the town would be lively overnight as it was the Bank Holiday - and it was. The second night was much quieter though. Probably worth considering the noise factor when booking and balancing this against the advantages of being in the town centre with all the facilities on hand.

    Pam2016-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place, great guy, highly recommended.

    Ulrich2017-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • This was my first experience with AirBNB and everything went smoothly. Communication with Garry was excellent before and throughout my stay and although he was not available for 'check-in', arrangements had been made for me to gain access to the flat promptly. The flat itself was good and with full kitchen facility that allowed me to cook my own meals. I slept in the bedroom at the back of the flat and I had no issues with noise. The living area and bedroom was clean and comfortable. Off-street parking was easy to find close by and free after 6.00 pm. I would stay here again.

THE OLD INN The Old Inn forms part of a former Inn called The Albion. It has recently been modernised and provides luxurious accommodation over two levels. It provides a wonderful home from home handy for Huddersfield, Huddersfield Royal Infirmary and the M62.
To the ground floor is a very spacious sitting room with views of St Stephens church. It has been tastefully decorated in neutral tones and carpeting. It has a large flat screen TV with DVD incorporated and Freeview. There is a two-seater bed settee and easy chair as well as a dining table which doubles up as a study table. The kitchen is also on the ground floor and has an excellent range of modern grey gloss units with a wood block effect worktop. There is a halogen hob, electric oven, fridge-freezer, microwave and small appliances. Downstairs you will find a very spacious bedroom, a luxurious shower room and a utility area. Guests can expect quality bedding and towels, soft pillows and duvets. In fact, we just want our guests to feel as comfortable as possible.
  • Noi abbiamo utilizzato la casa per visitare i dintorni nel raggio di 100 km. La vicinanza all' autostrada è una nota positiva. Il supermercato è vicinissimo alla casa ed è aperto dalle 6:30 alle 23.

    Emlyn2017-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • The flat is modern and beautifully presented. Very neat, tidy and spacious. It was easy to find and just a 10/15 minute journey into the town centre. Cleide was a great host and responded straight away to my queries. There was room for parking and Cleide had provided facilities to make it feel like a home away from home. Great place & would definitely request to stay again if ever I was in Huddersfield.

    Kirsty2017-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • This apartment is value for money. Situated close to M62 but in fairly quiet & peaceful location with a local Sainsbury, pubs & restaurant all close by. It’s managed by an agency so no personal touches which you might expect staying in a private air BnB or someone’s home, however, it’s well organised with host close by.

We welcome everyone! My husband and I live here. We are offering basic, clean and extremely comfortable rooms at fantastic value. This listing is for the double room. We also offer a twin room. The house is tastefully decorated. Close to town and station (short walk or bus is 1 minute away). Great transport links. We find that guests find us a good location for visiting the university as it is walkable. The hospital is also near by. Huddersfield is in a beautiful valley with lots to explore!
The guest rooms are in a converted attic so an extra flight of stairs. We are happy to provide a light breakfast and you are free to use the kitchen. We will do all we can to make your stay great. Check in is marked at 5pm as I work two days a week. Often we will be able to facilitate an earlier arrival time but cannot guarantee this. Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any questions.
We are on a fairly quiet road just by the stunning Greenhead park. Our favourite coffee shop is just around the corner and they make normal café fare but also offer Lebanese food. Delicious! Supermarkets etc. all within a minute or two walk. Plenty of beautiful countryside around to explore and a decent shopping centre in town as well as great art gallery and museums. Short train or bus journey to Leeds (20 minutes) or Manchester (25 minutes).

  • Nicola and Chris are kind, available and accomodating. The house was exactly what it was supposed to be. This is clean, safe, and cute. They told me to use the kitchen when I wanted, and it is not always the case for Airbnb accomodations. Moreover, I had a personal problem which make my arrival very difficult. But Nicola and Chris were flexible and I can thank you them for that. I recommend this house and these hosts to anyone who wants to spend one or more night in Huddersfield and enjoy this sweet town :)

The flat is on the ground floor of our family home, a Victorian end terrace, surrounded by woods and fields yet only two miles from Huddersfield. Once the village bakery, then a photographic darkroom and design work - space, the ground floor now offers a garden facing living/bedroom, separate kitchen and shower room. Please tell us a little about yourselves and the purpose of your visit if you decide to book, this helps us decide whether we are the right hosts for you. Minimum stay 2 nights.
The ground floor flat is accessed through its own front door entrance, featured in the photographs, into a small entrance with a door leading into the flat. Guests will have a key to the front door and the entrance into the flat. The main living/sleeping area looks out onto the front garden of shrubs and plants - box, lavender rosemary and an abundance of geraniums. In the main room there is a double bed and a double sofa bed, a dining table and chairs, built in cupboards and bookshelves. The room is colourfully decorated, retaining some of its original features such as the panelled wooden cupboards and picture rail, there is a new double glazed sash window. It is very quiet and relaxing here and many guests have commented on how well they have slept! The decor reflects some of the photographic heritage of the ground floor space. The room can sleep a third person by using the sofa bed, but please note this considerably reduces the space in the room. There is a new JVC Smart television. A table light and directional free standing light mean you can adjust lighting levels. The galley kitchen area is light with both a south facing window and a Velux in the sloping roof. It is fitted with new kitchen units and a beech worksurface/breakfast bar and washing machine. All fixtures and equipment are new including a fridge with a small freezer compartment, a Russell Hobbs combination microwave/grill/convection oven, toaster and a two ring electric work- top hot plate. There is a range of cooking equipment - saucepans, a casserole dish, cafetière, sieve cheese grater, serving bowls and crockery and cutlery. As part of your initial welcome we provide fresh milk, butter, tea, ground and instant coffee, our own free range chicken and duck eggs (except in winter when they are shop bought) and home made bread and marmalade - a simple breakfast for your first night's stay. In the under stairs cupboard there is a clothes rail, ironing board and iron and a drying rack. The shower room is separated from the kitchen by a clear glass sliding door, there is a new shower room, toilet and basin with the original white and green brick tiles. Towels and a hair dryer are provided and soaps, shower gel and shampoo are all in the mirror cupboard. The flat has two gas central heating radiators and there is also an additional electric radiator.
The house is situated at the end of a quiet unadopted lane in a small village surrounded by woods, fields, allotments and the cricket pitch yet is well placed for getting to Huddersfield (2 miles) Holmfirth 4 miles, Manchester, Leeds and Sheffield by train or car (approx 24 miles). The area is close to the route of both the Tour de France and Tour de Yorkshire and the Trans Pennine Trail so is excellent for cycling enthusiasts. Walkers are also well catered for as the Pennines are only four miles from our doorstep and there are numerous footpaths in the immediate surrounding country side. There are many local cultural events throughout the year including Holmfirth Folk and Film festivals, Art Week, Art Markets, Slaithwaite Moon Racking Festival, Marsden Jazz Festival, the Imbolc fire festival and Cuckoo festival as well as Hudderfield's International Contempory Music Festival. There are live music events both locally and at the city venues. For sculpture and art enthusiasts there is Yorkshire Sculpture Park and the Hepworth Gallery in Wakefield and the newly refurbished Whitworth gallery in Manchester and City Art Gallery in Leeds. In Bradford there is the National Media Museum which also has a world cinema programme. We are also very fortunate to have an abundance of small local galleries and studios where local artists exhibit work throughout the year.
  • Margaret's place couldn't have been better! It is full of charm and character and has all the amenities you could ever need. Margaret is a super friendly host and the extra little touches such as the fresh bread and eggs which she provided for breakfast were a great addition!

    Mark2017-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Margaret and Brian are very friendly and welcoming hosts. The room looks even better in reality than in the photos. Since we are staying in Huddersfield for the next year we will definitely stay in touch. If anyone wants to feel like at home on their vacation I would not hesitate staying with Margaret.

    Bára2015-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • Margaret was so welcoming and informative by message and also on arrival - she came out and found me when (Hidden by Airbnb) only brought me to the next road. I felt so well looked after, and Brian's home made bread is delicious! I met him just as I was leaving and we had a lovely chat about the outreach work they do. A really caring and altruistic couple, very interesting to talk to. I felt right at home. The flat was comfortable, homely, and just the right temperature. The shower was lovely and warm. There's plenty of kitchen equipment to knock yourself up a meal. A good amount of space for one or two people, a bit tight, but good value for more. The location is so quiet and peaceful, I slept like a log. There's a wonderful steep path near by for a little walk. All the buildings are made of stone so it is a pretty little area. The bus stop is just a little way away up a hill. I took a taxi from Mirkham station, as the train got stuck there on the way to Huddersfield, and despite being 30 minutes drive was only £14, so much cheaper than down south. It's 15 mins walking distance from the Tristan Dance Studios, so was very handy for a dance weekender there.

  • Margaret and Brian's self-contained basement apartment was perfect for my weekend at the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival. Everything was precisely as explained in the description. Delicious eggs, bread and marmalade enabled a hearty breakfast in the well-equipped mini kitchen. The main room is spacious and comfortable. The location is extremely quiet. Above all, I enjoyed the warmest of welcomes on arrival, chatting with Margaret and Brian about their life in the house. Their keen interest in music, art and photography will please any culture vultures planning a stay. A real home from home. Thank you both!

  • A lovely, picturesque part of Huddersfield with friendly and helpful owners. The area was very quiet (slept like a log) even though it's within easy reach of the town centre. The girls loved the fresh eggs from the chickens and ducks and making friends with Molly the cat. Comfy beds, crisp sheets, nice shower and a well equipped kitchen. This location is a great base to explore Huddersfield and the surrounding area from. Great for day trips to Hebden Bridge, Leeds, Yorkshire Sculpture park, York, Manchester and so on. We ran out of time.... will certainly be back!

  • Beautiful flat. Lovely colours and lots of character. Margaret is the ideal host. Charming and helpful without being invasive. It is a very short bus ride into town and also far enough away to be peaceful and scenic. The flat is clean and well maintained.

  • We had a wonderful stay in Margaret’s home. Margaret was a lovely host! We only stayed one night, and didn’t spend much time there due to attending family events, but would have happily stayed another night. The space was ideal for the three of us, and we particularly enjoyed the delicious breakfast food provided for us. The bread in particular was beautiful. Would definitely recommend 😊

    Sophie2018-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great stay at Margaret's. She made everything crystal clear ahead of my arrival and gave me lots of useful information about the local area. Couldn't ask for more.

Stunning, newly refurbished 2 bedroom apartment located in the heart of Huddersfield town centre; directly opposite of the Huddersfield railway station. There are a wide varieties of restaurants downstairs to choose from. Only a 3 minutes walk to the local supermarket Tesco and no more than a 5 minutes walk to the largest shopping centre in Huddersfield- Kingsgate.
Also close to the local Huddersfield university.
  • Exceeded expectations. Happy throughout

  • A really nice clean, large flat. Maojun & his wife were very welcoming & helpful, allowing me to check in early, so that I could dump my bag before going to the football match. The flat is in a brilliant location...opposite the train station. I will definitely stay here again

    Mike2018-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • Ideal for a couple of nights in Huddersfield, ideally located in the city centre, right next to bars, restaurants, the train station, shopping etc. The flat was clean and tidy, and the host was pleasant and helpful.

    Sophie2018-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • Very helpful hosts as we were unable to attend the agreed check in time so they rearranged for us. Great apartment, great location, 2 good sized bedrooms, clean with all necessary amenities. There was however music from a night club very close to the apartment when we stayed on a Saturday night which kept my husband and I awake until 5am. Ear plugs would have perhaps solved the problem (although it was very loud) but I hadn't seen any comments in any previous reviews so did not know this could be an issue. Hopefully a one off but ruined the stay for us.

  • Had a great stay and thourghly enjoyed my time at this apartment, which was clean and had all the extra touches, the host was great and tended to all needs will definatly be back again.

  • Modern flat, spotlessly clean and literally a stone's throw (341 feet or 1 minutes walk) from the station. The flat is accessed through a code operated main door and then up some stairs or in the lift. At the end of a corridor, in which there are three more stairs, the front door is reached and five more stairs bring you in to the flat. There are two large bedrooms, each with a heater, a large desk, cupboards and opening windows with blinds. The bathroom has a very large range of complimentary soaps and bubble baths whilst the kitchen is similarly well equipped and as well as having all of the equipment you would expect also has an iron and ironing board. Free bottled water was even provided. There is also very good wifi with the code on the back of the box. Upon arriving, our hosts met us outside the entrance within a couple of miniutes of calling them whilst upon departure we were allowed to simply leave our keys on the kitchen table and close the door behind us. On the Saturday night when we stayed there was noise from the bar below the flat (apparently this is the case on a Friday and Saturday night) but its not too loud and with such comfortable beds it really wasn't hard falling asleep. This flat is amazing value and would suit individuals or couples on holiday but also the business traveller.

Our place is conveniently situated a stone throw away from the town centre and all its surrounding much required amenities. You’ll absolutely love it here, as both the Huddersfield train and bus station are minutes walk away making transport extremely efficient . The university, cafes restaurants, and takeaways are all available in and around the town centre.
The room itself benefits from lots of sun-light, giving the room a natural, fresh illuminated look combiner with a fantastic wooden floor. A comfortable snug bed paired with premium linen for a soothing nights sleep. The room is especially brilliant for couples, the solo adventurer & business travellers.
The studio flat is 1 minute walk to the fantastic Greenhead park, the chippy, pizza and a good chicken n chips shop, a independent grocery store. The town centre is again 1 minutes walk.
  • Not great. Good location but wasn’t really ready to be let when we stayed.

The eggs were yummy apparently (not that I got to try them as my partner stole them for his breakfast haha) Dogs loved to wonder around the garden and explore. The area around is a good base to explore and get onto the pennine way Thank you Hanna for being a great and friendly host. You all seem a lovely family :-)

Our host was very friendly and helpful with information prior to the trip. The view was beautiful too, we watched the sun go down and lambs in the field! We only wish we could have stayed longer

There is a private garden at the front with wonderful views of the valley, a large living area with a log burning stove and a large, fully equipped kitchen. On the first floor are two bedrooms, the first with a king size bed and the second bedroom has two single beds. There is a large bathroom with bath and shower. Just in case you don't want to venture out the whole of the top floor is a light and airy library with huge book cases full of books and two big comfy chairs in which to read them!
The cottage is a mid 18th century weavers dwelling with original features and quirky corners!
This cottage is located in the village of Holmbridge (1.9 miles from the centre of the busy tourist hub of Holmfirth) on the beginning of the infamous climb up Holme Moss - a well known goal for all keen cyclists! It has close proximity to beautiful reservoir walks and woodland areas.
  • We really enjoyed our stay at Kate's place. The cottage is much bigger than I expected. The bedrooms were very comfy and the open plan living space worked great for a family - our baby got noticeably closer to crawling these few days and could practice to his heart's content as we cooked or ate. Kate gave us a very warm welcome, making us feel right at home. The bread and milk etc was appreciated too and kept us going til we ventured out the next day.

    Claire2017-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • had a wonderful time at 'the other place'. a great cottage, very clean, well situated with loads of little extras added to make it feel like a real home from home . Extra thanks to Kate who met us on arrival and could not have been more helpful.

  • My car broke down on the way and Kate was so helpful offering public transport options and being lovely about us arriving late. Perfect get away for me and my three best friends - had good food at the pub nearby, and my dog absolutely loved it as well :)

  • Kate was a fantastic host. We were a little bit worried about the parking as it was snowing when the grouped arrived but it was no trouble at all! What a lovely stay.

    Heather2017-12-12T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed staying at Kate's house. The house is cosy and has everything that you could need. We particularly enjoyed browsing through the many book in the house and reading some of them. The house is in a good location to explore - we visited Potteric Carr and saw the starling murmuration which was incredible. Holmfirth is a nice place to wander around the shops and there are plenty of places to eat and drink.

    Sarah2017-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great welcome, great holiday home spread over 3 levels all with beautiful character features retained. We loved our stay and would if returning back to area look at the availability of “The Other Place” first. The beds were immensely comfortable and with more than enough facilities for our stay we loved the house. Kate was a great host who was very warm and welcoming - thanks for having us at your lovely, comfortable and character filled holiday home.

    Sandy2018-04-13T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely place to stay in a beautiful location. Kate couldn't have been more helpful, communicating really well, and even dropping kitchen scales round when we needed them! And that was on top of the bread, marmalade and milk we found when we arrived. Great host!

Character cottage, dating from the early 1800's with a wealth of original features such as mullion windows, beamed ceilings having views of the Colne Valley and beyond. This grade II listed cottage is perfect for a romantic getaway and/or for walking and cycling (as long as you like hills!). Golcar pronounced "Goker" ("L" is silent in local pronunciation) is a village located on a hillside crest above the Colne Valley in West Yorkshire. It is 3.3 miles away from the Huddersfield town centre.
The Kitchen There is a fully fitted modern kitchen with fridge, washer/Dryer, Dishwasher and Freezer. There is plenty of cutlery, crockery, glassware, utensils etc. There is tea coffee condiments etc. We provide a welcome pack which usually consists of bread, butter, jams and marmalade, milk , eggs, bacon , cereals -oh and a bottle of wine. If you are vegetarian or vegan or would prefer something different let us know and we will try to accommodate your preferences. The Lounge There is a spacious lounge with beamed ceiling, stone mullion windows and door surround, pine dining table and chairs, antique ottoman providing storage for the duvet pillows etc for the sofa bed, antique delph (plate) rack, pew in front of the window and corner cabinet. There is a sofa bed and armchair, a "smart" TV and BOSE speaker/docking station with blue tooth connectivity to stream music. Polished wooden floor, gas stove and central heating radiator. The lounge overlooks the south facing paved terraced garden. The Bedroom The bedroom is spacious having a king size bed with quality mattress, pillows and bed linen so that a good nights sleep is assured. The ceiling is beamed and the room has stone mullion windows overlooking the garden There is a monks pew below the window, bed side cabinets and two antique chests of drawers, a corner wardrobe and an additional hanging rail. central heating radiator. The mullioned windows give plenty of light and there is a beamed ceiling (This is where the weaving would have been done in days gone by) There are views over the garden and valley. The Landing With balustrade, this gives access to the bathroom, very spacious bedroom, and large walk-in storage cupboard which has a vacuum cleaner, iron, ironing board, cleaning materials, spare towels , loo rolls etc. It also provides additional clothes hanging space if required. Beamed ceiling and stone mullioned window. The spacious bathroom with fully tiled floor and walls, having a large corner bath for a luxurious soak, separate shower, heated towel rail washbasin and WC . We provide loo rolls, towels, shampoo etc. Beamed ceiling. The garden This is a south facing sun trap with long distance views and giving a high degree of privacy. It is paved and on four separate levels. We keep it planted up with lots of containers.. There are two separate seating areas with tables and chairs and we have two large parasols for shade when needed. Chill out with a glass of wine. I've seen wild deer on the path that runs down the side of the house and garden. Parking There is free but limited parking on Clay Well and sometimes it can be difficult to find a spot. To help guests I can sometimes leave a car parked opposite the cottage which I move on their arrival. We live approximately 150 yards from the cottage down a steep hill and can also make a parking place available for you there if need be. There is additional parking on the road at the end- Carr Top Lane. There is a free car park in the village centre which is not far from the cottage but up a steep hill. Many of the roads in Golcar are quite narrow so it's best to fold in your wing mirrors. The owners of the large building to the right of the cottage - "Millbarn" have asked that we do not park on their side of the road right outside Millbarn as it can cause an obstruction. I've always tried to respect that so ask guests to as well although it should be OK for unloading/loading luggage.
The Colne Valley is a steep sided valley on the east flank of the Pennine Hills in the English county of West Yorkshire. It takes its name from the River Colne which rises above the town of Marsden and flows eastward along the floor of the valley. The name is generally used to describe that section of the valley of the River Colne that lies between its source and the town of Huddersfield, which lies at the point where the River Holme joins the River Colne. Less often, the name is used to describe the whole valley of the Colne, including the section through Huddersfield and on to the confluence of the Colne with the River Calder at Cooper Bridge. Using the more common definition, the Colne Valley includes the towns and villages of Marsden, Slaithwaite, Linthwaite, Milnsbridge and Golcar. The Colne Valley played a significant role in the development of the Industrial Revolution. Most of the population had been weavers for generations, so when water-powered textile mills were built on the many streams and small rivers in the area, the area was well set to become a major producer of textiles. The River Colne and the Huddersfield Narrow Canal provided early transport links which were soon added to by road and railway links to Huddersfield and Leeds to the east and Manchester and Liverpool to the west. By the end of the Second World War, the importance of the Colne Valley as a centre of textile production had begun to decrease. The area is now primarily residential and has excellent transport links. The Huddersfield Narrow Canal was reopened in 2001 and boat trips into Standedge Canal Tunnel are available; the National Trust advertises walks on Marsden Moor Estate; and television programmes such as Last of the Summer Wine and Where the Heart Is have been filmed there.
  • Robert’s place is an exceptional little cottage. It is warm, welcoming, comfortable with a wonderful view across the valley. There is everything you need, Robert has nailed each detail with thoughtfulness and care. You’ll start the day with a hearty breakfast: A loaf of bread, bacon, eggs and muesli, jams. The bonus: a lovely private garden, newly planted flowers, beautiful views and Elmo the cat for company. I enjoyed sitting there in winter, must be great in summer. Robert is an excellent host. I arrived late at night and Robert was more than helpful in making sure I found a place to park in the narrow lanes. This is B&B at it’s best so just book in! I will definitely be coming back next time I’m in the UK.

    Andrew2018-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Robert was very responsive, caring (got us fresh organic brown bread which was truly amazing) and catered for us very well. We will be back if we venture up that way again... Lovely quaint little cottage....the stuff of fairy tales!

  • I have been using Airbnb for some months now, for both business and leisure stays, and staying at Robert's cottage was one of my very best experiences so far! The location is spectacular and the cottage itself is beautiful, so full of character, cosy, clean and well equipped. I was made to feel so welcome and the communications before, during and after were excellent. Next time I visit this area, Robert's cottage will be top of my list of preferred places to stay... 100% recommended!

  • Beautiful location, charming house with a lot of character and history. The host, Robert, is super helpful and very friendly! Good local amenities, good bus access with a route straight to town and fantastic views with great walking locations! The house is amazing and very quaint with a full kitchen, both shower and (gorgeous corner) bath, sky and WiFi access and welcome pack - I could not have asked for more. Plus, there was an adorable cat, Elmo, that visited every night. Very welcoming experience all round. Would definitely stay again!

  • I booked Robert's place for my parents to stay while they were visiting us. They had a lovely time and really enjoyed the accommodation, both mentioned that it was much bigger than it looks in the pictures. Robert was able to accommodate them right at the last minute and was really helpful and friendly. I'm sure they'll be booking again as it was such a nice house, very convenient for them and a much much better alternative than the hotels they usually stay in. Thank you!

    Lindsey2018-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • Gosia was welcoming from the beginning without being intrusive. The Snug really is a wonderful place to escape from the world, with tranquil surroundings and plenty of walking available nearby. There is a town a short walk or drive away for provisions. The only negative is that I could only stay for one night. Great stuff.

  • We stayed at Jill's place with our 2 dogs and it was just wonderful. It was beautifully kitted out (the coffee machine just made my mornings complete!) and Jill had added so many lovely thoughtful touches (blankets on the sofas, reed diffusers for a lovely smell, treats for us and the dogs etc). The kitchen is well equipped and we couldn't think of anything else we would have needed. We will definitely be going back as Jill provided us with so many ideas for places to visit that we ran out of time!!

    Sue2018-05-04T00:00:00Z
  • This was a lovely little place, a real gem! It was well decorated, very clean and warm. The location was exactly what I'd hoped for, quiet and surrounded by trees. It was easy to find using Jill's directions, and we had everything we needed inside with a fully equipped kitchen and a really nice shower. The hosts were lovely and really friendly, full of information about, places to visit and local amenities. This was definitely one of the best airbnb stays I've had! Highly recommended!

    Adil2018-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing spot for a get away, great communication and directions to the property and the place itself is stunning. Jill and Matt were incredibly friendly and helpful and we would highly recommend to anyone wanting a spot of luxury in a beautiful setting.

    Frances2018-04-02T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful little cottage in a lovely situation. Everything needed was provided and Jill and Matt were great hosts. We have two dogs who had the freedom to roam around (supervised) in a secluded area yet with easy access to lots of local activities. We were visiting family for a short trip and know the area but if you are planning a quiet break. Then I would highly recommend Delf Nook.

    Mark2018-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay, with many walking tracks nearby. The cottage was very clean with cooking appliances available.

    Brenda2018-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • This lovely little place was just perfect for the two of us and our small dog. Jill and Matt were great hosts, provided all the information we needed, made us very welcome, and checked on the first morning of our 4 day stay that we were happy and comfortable. The location is wonderful, nice and quiet, lots of birdsong, a small skylight in the bedroom that you can leave uncovered to see the stars, if you want to. There was a folder with local information, which I always find helpful, and essentials were provided - tea, coffee, sugar, cooking oil, salt & pepper, milk, plus some goodies for us and our dog. The cottage is very comfortable, and equipped and decorated to a very high standard. I can not recommend it highly enough and we will definitely be back again. Thanks Jill and Matt.

    Tessa2018-05-02T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for some peace and plenty of bird song, Jill & Matt’s place is amazing. It’s super cute, Jill and Matt are super hosts and there are plenty of walks to go on nearby.

Eider cottage is a listed weavers cottage tucked away behind the church in the very centre of this quaint village. Retaining many original features including mullion stone Windows, kitchen floor, steps, beams, floorboards and inglenook. Despite being in the centre of the village it has a private secluded hot tub which is available for an additional cost.
This three storey listed weavers cottage retains many of the original features including mullion windows, a wonderful stone inglenook fireplace, York stone flagged floor in the kitchen and stone steps. It has views over the village and up to the surrounding countryside and moors of the Peak District national park. With Holme Moss viewpoint visible from the hot tub (optional charges apply see below). The master bedroom has a sumptuous super king size bed, but no space for storage, only a chair and two bedside tables, the wardrobe and the chest of drawers and dressing table are on the landing. The double bedroom is very tight with only room for the bed, one bedside table and a plant stand with a bedside light on it, there is only a very narrow gap to get around the bed to the far side under the window. When the weather is good the garden has two terraces with a table and chairs to take advantage of the view and an outside oven and BBQ on request for a small additional cost, this must be requested in advance. The very large kitchen is equipped with a range cooker, retro fridge freezer, dishwasher, washer, microwave, toaster and kettle. There is a large kitchen table and chairs and two stressless leather chairs to relax in whilst the chef is getting busy. It has a traditional Belfast sink and a solid oak work surface - they are old so they are not perfect, but spotlessly clean and we think add character. The sitting room has a comfortable classic sofa and a smart TV and Blu-Ray DVD player. The large bathroom has a vintage suite with a deep roll top bath and a rain shower within a separate cubicle. There is a large storage/drying room off the kitchen suitable for walking boots, cycles and prams.
Holmfirth is a quirky village, as woderfully showcased in the TV series Last of the Summer Wine. It is ideal for hikers and cyclists, but also for people who want to wander its quaint streets and enjoy the market and numerous shops, pubs and restaurants and other attractions. There is also a live music venue - the Picturedrome. The centre of the village is a two minute walk down steep steps and cobbles from the cottage. The walks can be accessed right from the door. Holme Moss, the steepest climb on the Yorkshire section of the Tour de France is a short cyle ride away. The river running through the village always has lots of ducks to feed and there is the famous annual Holmfirth Duck race and many annual festivals including the Festival of Folk, Arts Festival, the Food and Drink Festival and several beer festivals.
  • What an amazingly perfect place! The cottage is lovely in itself and is fully fitted with luxurious items and furnishings. Couldnt fault anything about the place and it far exceeded our expectations. Angela has clearly put so much love and care into making the place as special as possible and really goes the extra mile to give you an unforgettable experience. She was very helpful explaining things for us and showing us around when we got there and left a much appreciated welcome hamper and cakes catered to us and our dietary requirements which was a lovely touch. Then she left us to our own devices but was always contactable if we needed anything. The best towels i have ever had and an incredible freestanding bath as well as a very large comfortable bed made us feel so looked after and pampered. The hot tub was amazing too, secluded and lovely to relax in after a long day. The location was right in the middle of town but up a nice back street on a hill which gave it a feeling of peace from the town yet everything was instantly accessible. Holmfirth itself is a lovely little place with character that was nice to wander around. Finally the kitchen was great and very well equipped. We are both chefs and found it to be so much fun cooking there. An excellent cooker, sharp knives and all the extra useful items we needed as well as basics such as oil, butter etc. Its great to see someone who really puts the effort in to make something special and isn't only about the money. Great value and an unforgettable memory for us. Thank you so much

    Mike2016-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • Angela's place was amazing, really lovely little cottage right in the village centre with great access to lots of lovely restaurants/ pub/walks. The hot tub and log fire were really nice additions! We had a great weekend, in a beautiful part of the world, would definitely recommend and hope to be back again!

    Madison2017-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • Angela gave us a wonderful welcome with a delicious afternoon tea and a warming fire lit in the logburner. So lovely after a long journey. The cottage is beautifully restored with a very comfortable lounge, large kitchen and hot tub in the garden which we enjoyed. There are lots of special touches to add to the comfort of guests including a welcome basket of goodies. Thank you Angela. We hope to return for longer soon !

    Karen2016-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Eider Cottage is fantastic. Angela was there to greet us and made us feel very welcome. Whilst we had declined the afternoon tea as we were going straight out she left us an amazing welcome hamper and some lovely cakes in the fridge which we enjoyed on Saturday afternoon. The hot tub is a fabulous addition to the property and is brilliant after a long walk round Holmfirth. The village itself is lovely and we really enjoyed our tour of the vineyard which we would highly recommend. If we make a return trip to Holmfirth in the future we will be sure to book this fantastic cottage again.

    Joanne2016-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • Just back from a restful stay at Eider cottage. First impressions were great, so clean and well presented with everything you need to be comfortable and many lovely little touches that made it feel like home. Angela is a brilliant host; a real champion for the local area, with brilliant tips about how to make the most of it. Holmfirth has lots of fun little shops and lovely walks. I was able to get there by public transport and get out into countryside without the use of a car. I found the town’s residents to be really friendly as well, always willing to lend a hand or offer helpful advice. I went for peace and quiet which the cottage was perfect for, and found the hot tub and lovely fire particularly relaxing. Would definitely return in the future and would love to share it with friends this time. Thanks again Angela, my week was all I hoped it would be!

    Lizi2018-04-27T00:00:00Z
  • Recently stayed at Eider Cottage for a few days with family. Cottage itself was fantastic, extremely well equipped and comfortable. Great location, close to the centre of Holmfirth and numerous pubs and restaurants (and a great vineyard!) within walking distance. The afternoon tea, welcome hamper and help with bags was extremely welcome (thank you) and set the scene for a relaxing few days in Yorkshire. We would not hesitate to stay again if ever in the area and would recommend wholeheartedly.

    Jason2016-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Delightful cottage in a wonderful location. Angela met me and helped with my luggage, showed me round and made sure I had everything I needed. The homemade deserts were delightful. Would definitely recommend

    Angela2016-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is beautiful and within 2 minutes walk of town. Angela was a brilliant host, helping arrange flowers, chocolates and prosecco for my girlfriend's birthday when we arrived and had even left her a gift herself. The house has lots of beautiful wooden ducks around the place and even had ones with our names on! (Which we ended up buying!) the fluffiest towels we had ever used and an absolutely huge bed! The hot tub was lovely to relax in at the end of a long day and we'll definitely be back to visit at some point.

  • Lovely space, nicely decorated and clean. Parking is on the main road at the front, but there was plenty of space, so not a problem. It's nice to have your own entrance so that you're not disturbing the rest of the family when you arrive and leave. There are places to eat within walking distance, and shops within a short drive. The kitchen is basic, there's a fridge, microwave toaster and griddle. Tea and coffee are provided but you need to take milk and don't forget your hairdryer too! Characterful, cosy and quirky late 17th century weaver's cottage situated in the suburb of Fartown approximately 1.4 miles from Huddersfield town centre and train station. There are excellent links from the train station to Manchester airport, Leeds, York and London via Wakefield. Bus stops are close by (for Huddersfield and Bradford) and there is easy access to the M62 (approximately 2 miles away).
The small cottage is full of character, with an interior that's a fusion of vintage, retro, industrial, rustic and country cottage elements. The main space is the cosy kitchen/living room (approx 5 metres x 3 metres in size). The kitchen section has a fridge, kettle, toaster, microwave, smoothie maker and a single induction hob. The simple living room has a comfortable leather armchair, coffee table, additional chair and electric heater. The upstairs bedroom (approx 3 x 3metres in size) contains one double bed, an electric heater in the bedroom, hanging space for clothes, and a wall-mounted 40 inch television with main freeview channels in HD. The new bathroom suite has an electric shower. There is NO WiFi in the cottage. Outside the cottage is a private/fenced garden with outdoor table and two chairs, that guests are welcome to use. There is an adjoining cottage next door (currently unoccupied), so you will have the garden to yourself. Although situated in a fairly busy urban area, the cottage is set back from the road which gives it a more removed and secluded feeling and usually its pretty quiet. Guest access Guests are welcome to arrive from 3pm onwards and the departure time is by 11.am. Other things to note Please be aware that there is no Wi-Fi in the cottage. There will be a selection of foodstuffs available (in the fridge and on the shelves) for the preparation of breakfast, which could include the following: bread, butter, breakfast cereals, various spreads, filter coffee and tea. Although the cottage is Andy's home, on occasions he may need to call by for various reasons, but would let you know in advance. Whenever possible, guests will be greeted by Andy or sometimes his mum Pauline, otherwise guests can use the key safe attached inside the door's security grill.
Within a short walking distance away is a post office, bakery, chemist, launderette, general store, takeaways and restaurants. There's also a choice of supermarkets in the area including Asda, Aldi, Sainsburys and Tesco.
  • This is a lovely little cottage - tucked away, down its own path and with its own garden. It is equally quaint and stylish; a great place to stay. Andrew, the owner, was very helpful. Highly recommended!

    Robert2018-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • This little one-up-one-down cottage is most definitely value for money on a short stay basis. If privacy is a priority then this works out cheaper than most B&B's. Of course facilities are limited - no washing machine, no wifi, no cooker (except for a portable hob) but if you want a weekend retreat, close to the Yorkshire countryside & world famous Huddersfield Narrow Canal, then 'The Nest' provides secure accommodation on a budget. Privacy, a comfortable bed, sun-trap garden, breakfast provided and even spare chargers make this little pad a hidden gem. Tucked away behind mature trees, it's easy to forget you're so close to the city. This host is both caring and considerate with excellent communication skills - highly recommended:)

  • Beautiful quirky cottage with a lot of charm. We used this cottage as a base for Manchester and was very conveniently located for the train station. Nice thoughtful touches round the cottage with bits of food and drink etc. Bed sooo comfy! Great communication with owner throughout stay. Will definitely be booking here again next time we are in Huddersfield. My partner is now researching where he can buy a similar cottage of his own!

  • Lovely little cottage! Brilliant decor, nice and clean, the garden is suprisingly secluded which was nice. Andy was always quick to respond to any messages. There were some bits in the fridge for breakfast/snacking. There is also a little game that Andy and his family invented that is worth playing for a bit of fun! Would highly recommend staying here.

  • I had a really great time in the lovely cottage of Andy! Unfortunately, I didn't get the chance to meet him but he explained me everything very well. I had the lovely surprise of having a welcome note and a red wine bottle which I'd appreciated a lot!! I highly recommend Andy's cottage! Everything was perfect!

  • This is a special place to stay, that manages to be stylish, cosy and functional all at the same time. The provision of wine and some breakfast items was a welcome bonus. I felt instantly at home and would happily recommend to others.

  • Set back from the road this very old cottage which is part of a row of four and located on the edge of the grounds of an old stone church. Suburbia has grown up around these buildings but time has not spoilt this one. The interior has been thoughtfully designed around a retro theme and the original fireplace still stands as the dominate feature in the living area. This is a clearly a small cottage and it gives you a sense of the living spaces occupied by generations past. We really enjoyed our stay in this novel and interesting cottage in suburban Huddersfield which is well located to access Yorkshire. We walked the canal from Standedge Tunnels back to Huddersfield, would recommend.

  • If you’re looking for a cheap place to stay whilst in the area then this is a great unique place! You can walk into Huddersfield within 15 mins or there are plenty of transport options. Also close to the M62. If you like rustic, simplicity and rough around the edges then this place ticks all the boxes. If you’re more suited to luxury and 5 star then this is not the place for you. Andy’s a great host and easy to communicate with. Stayed for 2 nights and it was convenient, quiet and good value for money.

The newly converted ground floor of our cottage - a former 18th Century brewhouse and cottage. 5 minutes walk from Holmfirth centre & 5 minutes walk into open countryside. Walking, cycling, music, festivals, countryside... all at your fingertips!
The apartment has one bedroom, shower / wet room and small kitchen. The living / dining room has a wood burning stove and stone-flagged floor. It is all on one level with a step into the kitchen.
The apartment is a 5 minute stroll to Holmfirth centre. Here you will find quality bars, pubs, restaurants, a wealth of beautiful independent shops, 3 supermarkets and one of the finest music venues in the north of England - The Picturedrome. Please be aware the cottage is on a steep hill. We are a 30 second cycle from the route of the Tour de France and Tour de Yorkshire, leading up one of the finest Pennine climbs - Holme Moss. Footpaths, bridleways and country roads lead directly into beautiful countryside in all directions. Home to the sitcom Last of the Summer Wine, Holmfirth is famous for its historic town centre and the beautiful countryside and villages surrounding it. Each year Holmfirth hosts a wide variety of festivals from beer, food & drink and folk music. We have a number of excellent local micro-breweries, a vineyard and cider farm. It is the perfect venue for a romantic getaway, a sporting weekend, blowing away the cobwebs with the dog or catching a gig after an excellent meal. It really has something for everyone.
  • We loved our stay here! The photos don't do it justice. Its beautifully renovated, well equipped with everything you need and finished to a high standard. Jez and Pippa were fantastic hosts, nothing was too much trouble (including dropping us to Stockbridge to catch the Tour de Yorkshire!) and it felt like visiting friends. The brewhouse is only a few minutes walk from the restaurants, bars and shops of Holmfirth, and well located for exploring the rest of Yorkshire. Its a fab place, really comfy bed and cosy with the log burner and we'll definitely be back!

  • Pippa and Jerome were excellent hosts, giving us very good advice of what to do in the locality. The cottage was very comfortable and well appointed and in an ideal position within Holmfirth. There was such a lot to do in the town and the surrounding area and we would love to revisit in the future.

  • Our stay here with Pippa and Jerome was excellent. We came because we had booked a tour of the local vineyard. Communication was excellent from the outset. Advice on the walking route between the cottage and the vineyard was much appreciated, and the offer to come and pick us up when the weather turned was really lovely. All in all an excellent stay if you are in the area. The cottage is really nice, felt like a home away from home. There were biscuits on the side and milk in the fridge, so you can settle straight in before even going to the local shop. There was a selection of games and DVDs too if you are staying in; we played a game of bananagrams and quickly learned we were quite competitive when it came to banana related word games! For anyone planning a visit, we ate at a restaurant called Mezze which was really nice and doesn't take reservations so if you've not booked anywhere, it's a great option. Thank you so much for making us feel so welcome; we had a lovely time.

  • We loved our stay in Jerome and Pippa's cosy, beautifully decorated, characterful, well equipped cottage. Jerome and Pippa were friendly, welcoming and helpful, quick to respond to queries and facilitated smooth moving in and leaving. Cottage was sparkling clean and we loved the mix of old and modern - beautiful original stone flagged floors and beams together with dazzling wet room and mod cons kitchen. A quick stroll down to town with lots of great places to eat and drink. A great stay all round, thoroughly recommend.

  • I enjoyed a wonderful weekend in this lovely cottage. Newly renovated, it is cosy and comfortable, but has modern conveniences including a spacious wet room/shower and a well fitted kitchen. You should be aware that it's on a steep hill running up from the town centre, but it's only a few minutes walk and shouldn't be a problem for most people. The star of the show is the wood burning stove in the living room. Sitting in front of it with a glass of wine after a beautiful walk recommended by Pippa was the highlight of the weekend. One of the great pleasures of Airbnb is meeting the people who open their homes to the community, and Jerome and Pippa certainly deserve their status as super hosts. From the detailed information provided prior to the stay, through the excellent recommendations for walks, restaurants, and other things to do in this lovely town, to the little touches such as the tea, coffee, milk, and biscuits that ease your arrival, they were perfect hosts. I came to attend a concert at the nearby Picturedrome, but would gladly return to walk the beautiful countryside, or even just to relax and enjoy the bars and restaurants in the town. This is what makes Airbnb special, and is highly recommended.

  • Delightful apartment in a great location for visiting the beautiful village of Holmfirth. Everything you need for a weekend away and lots of little touches and great recommendations for the local area. Really felt like a home from home. Thank you.

  • Great little cottage for 2 people and 2 dogs. Everything you need is supplied, even treats for the dogs. Lovely location just a 2 minute walk to a CoOp store and local pub which is very dog, and human, friendly, although they do not serve food. It is only a 20-30 minute walk into Holmfirth where you can find everything you need, bars, restaurants, take aways, sight seeing and shops. We loved it here and cannot wait to book again.

  • A small cottage, but with everything you need, in a beautiful location. We had a lovely stay here, and didn’t want for anything as the cottage was so well equipped, from kitchen to bathroom, and a huge selection of DVDs (not need on this stay, but a nice touch) Communication with the host was quick and easy, and there was a handy folder in the cottage with information on the local area, restaurants etc which was really useful. Having breakfast supplies waiting for us was great as it was one less thing for us to worry about. The lemon-curd was amazing!!

  • We had a great stay and are grateful to Sara for being a great host. She was totally flexible and helpful with our arrival as we got stuck in traffic and were a few hours late. It was an amazing touch for Sara to buy breakfast bits which lasted us both mornings. The bed was comfy, shower really good and couldn't have asked for better surroundings (the view in the mornings and evenings is beautiful). We stayed for three days and two nights and found we could walk for hours. Everyone we met was lovely and helpful and the local pub was only a few minutes away. As Sara has a cat and dog at home, there is definitely a sense for them in the house, so if you have allergies I would bring some antihistamine however, we were entirely uninterrupted by them so no real biggy. The cottage is well equipped with kitchen bits, blankets and DVDs incase the English weather plays up.

    Neil2017-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • It was a brilliant stay. There weren't many photos before we enquired so we didn't know what to expect, but Sara kindly put some more up so we could see. The experience was really brilliant. Sara was very helpful and welcoming. The cottage smelt amazingly clean and it was very comfortable. It wasn't far out of Holmfirth, so we enjoyed going in the centre on a couple of days, but more than anything it was just a brilliantly relaxing stay. Just what we needed. Thanks a bunch!

  • Sara is a first class host and the apartment is lovely and beautifully situated. Great communication and check in arrangements too. Thank you!

  • Cannot speak highly enough of this lovely little cottage. Clean, cosy and well equipped with the town centre a comfortable walk away. Sara was contactable throughout our stay in case we needed anything, but such was the comfort of the cottage, nothing extra was needed. Sara thought of everything we could need, including bacon and eggs, bread, milk and home made lemon curd which was lovely. Highly recommend this place to anybody seeking a relaxing break.

  • This is a lovely place to stay, cosy and well equipped. The Yorkshire Sculpture Park is near by and some wonderful walks. Holmfirth itself is a treat to visit too. Excellent pubs all around. Thank you Sara

    Glynis2017-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • Great location and a perfect accommodation for two people. Sara was very easy to contact and helpful. We did have a small problem with the hot water in the shower only lasting 10 mins but perhaps that was just a boiler setting. Sara was looking into this and kindly offered the shower in the main house for us to use so no major issue and not a reason not to go here.

Light and airy double room with double bed and large en-suite bathroom on the top floor of a 5 bed town house in quiet residential cul-de-sac. Shared use of the large kitchen/diner. High speed internet. Convenient transport links by car, train, bus or bicycle to West Yorkshire towns and countryside.
Large double room (approx 3.5 x 4.5m) with large en-suite bathroom and work space on the top floor of a modern town house. Plenty of room to spread out with a desk and workspace. Trouser press, iron and ironing board all in the room for those who want to stay smart! The large kitchen/diner on the ground floor is available for guest use.
Ravensthorpe is a distinct suburb of Dewsbury, an old mill town of the industrial era. Ravensthorpe grew up providing workers accommodation for the mills located on the River Calder and is a melting pot of nationalities that have settled here since the mid twentieth century. The house is located in a new development of large, family houses on the edge of the neighbourhood.
  • Bruce was lovely and welcoming, he showed me up to the room and explained where everything was, there was even a kettle which was great after a long drive. The room was lovely and warm, very comfortable and had everything I needed. It was only a place to sleep as I was on a training course. I would certainly recommended and would use again if I was in the area. Make the most of the maps and recommendations left if you have time to explore. Thanks so much for having me!

  • Bruce made us really welcome , it was great to exchange experiences in the kitchen and then get to the room at the top; a warm bed , smooth shower and even a trouser press completed the picture . The wifi worked and after our mailing we gazed out over the town. Perfect for our stay!

  • Bruce was a lovely host to me and my boyfriend, welcoming and easygoing. The room was well proportioned and comfortable, with everything we needed, and we slept well (which is rare for me in a strange bed). If I ever need to stay in the area in future, I'll be looking to come back here.
