  • Lou and Daniel have a beautiful home and were the perfect hosts and could not have been more welcoming or friendly. I could not more highly recommend staying here. Me and my two companions were delighted to have stayed here and should we ever stay in the area again we would happily stay here.

  • Thanks for a great stay Lou (and Daniel and Beans) were very welcoming and friendly. It was great to be able to leave some things in the garage. Space in the fridge was very welcome on a stay of more than one night. Lovely village just outside Holmfirth and quiet house and area would recommend to stay.

This lovely little cottage is 0.9 miles from the village centre. I gentle walk down hill takes about 15 minutes. Taxis are plentiful in the village and if you are planning a late night a lift home will cost about £4. This cottage is on the main road. A quiet hideaway with a delightful, enclosed, sunny and secluded garden. It is only a stones throw from many fabulous walks and bike rides. Although the garden is sunny and dog friendly it is unsafe for children due to walls and cobbles.
RENOVATION now finished. A quality Howdens kitchen with quality fittings has been newly installed. The cottage has been freshly decorated. Calender now open to book from 1st August 2017. The living room has countryside views. There is newly installed central heating system with instant hot water. The Double bedroom has delightful views over the fields. A newly fitted large luxury bathroom with a good sized walk in shower and double ended deep bath , perfect to unwind and relax in. The garden is private sunny and enclosed with views down the valley and across fields. Everything for a perfect hideaway. a chill out weekend or holiday, with lots of walks right from the front door.
Holmfirth is a friendly village... (Look a bit further than The Old Bridge). A warm welcome is found at some of the smaller places. Our favourites are... Y Bar Tap House Whipped and Pickle Black Cat Bengal Spice Scholes Village....Boot and Shoe
  • I had a really lovely stay in Amanda's cottage and it was just what I needed for my weekend away. The cottage is quiet and the garden is lovely to sit out in the evenings. It's a pleasant walk downhill into town, or there's a bus stop right outside. I used taxis quite a few times when I was there and they were reliable and reasonably priced. Amanda was very friendly and contact before the stay was great. She came to meet me when I arrived and talked me through everything in the cottage. I really recommend Amanda as a host and would definitely stay in the cottage again.

  • Perfect place for any couple wanting to savour the beauty of the West Riding. Escape up to the moors or tumble down the hill into the charms of Holmfirth. Views from the back windows of the house are typical of the area. Lovely sunny stone walled garden completes the picture. Plenty steps! So close to the delights of the Brindon Addy Farm shop. Would recommend to anyone. Will return. Joy and Andy

  • Had a lovely few days staying in Holmfirth Cottage, a lovely little property in a pretty town. Good nearby amenities and easy access to the surrounding area (we were visiting friends near Wakefield). Amanda was very helpful giving us good directions and meeting us when we arrived to make sure we had everything we needed and to answer any questions. It was helpful to know where the nearest shops and petrol station were for essentials and we arranged a supermarket delivery without any difficulties. Overall we had a relaxing and easy stay at Holmfirth Cottage and would certainly recommend it.

  • Great place to visit the region for walks and cycling. Very calm and perfect to get away from the city even have cows in the backyard.

  • This is a lovely cottage on the outskirts of Holmfirth which is comfortable and homely. We only stayed for a few days, but enjoyed the local walks and exploring further afield by car. There is a bus stop outside, so it is possible to visit without a car, using pubic transport. it would also be good for cyclists.

A lovely double room overlooking woods half a mile from the centre of the market town of Holmfirth. English breakfast included and access to a private lounge with woodburner and door straight out into the garden.
This is a cosy double room with a wooden floor and original cast iron fireplace dating back to the 1880s. The window overlooks the garden, woods and stream beyond and still has the original wooden shutters. The room is quiet and dark at night (no ambient street light). There are old wooden beams, one of which is carved by local artist Mick Kirkby Geddes. Antique, but comfortable double bed with feather topper, chair, chest of drawers, wardrobe and dressing table. The room is part of our house so you will be sharing the main house bathroom, which includes a bath and drencher shower. (We do have other toilet facilities downstairs if there is a logjam!)
Holmfirth is a small market town, tucked into the foothills of the Pennines and about 5 miles from the centre of Huddersfield. The town is well known as the location for the popular TV series ‘Last of the Summer Wine’ and visitors take advantage of the classic Summer Wine tours around the area in a vintage bus. There are many excellent restaurants in Holmfirth (Indian, tapas, Italian, French) and the fabulous Picturedrome (www.picturedrome.net) – home to a range of concerts and tribute bands. Throughout the year there are many festivals - including Holmfirth Festival of Folk (early May); Holmfirth Film Festival (late May); Holmfirth Arts Festival (mid-June); Holmfirth Artweek (early July) and the Festival of Food in September. We are also 30 minutes drive from the award winning Yorkshire Sculpture Park ( www.ysp.co.uk) and 40 minutes from the Hepworth Gallery in Wakefield (www.hepworthwakefield.org). The walking is varied and beautiful and it is possible to walk out of the door of our house and straight up into the hills.
  • This is a fantastic location and if you visit Holmfirth you won't find a better place to stay. A short walk into town and lots of pubs and great eating places nearby and a wonderful comfortable place to stay with lovely friendly hosts, a superb comfy room and delicious home cooked breakfast.

    Nadine2017-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • I arrived to a really warm welcome from Andy, family (and dogs). A nice cuppa tea much appreciated after a long trip. Andy's place is a stone built house over multiple floors with views over the river valley below. The room was really nice - very comfortable with crisp bed sheets. I would highly recommend Andy as a host and as a place to stay. This is a perfect home away from home and superb value for money.

    Christopher2016-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • Very comfortable accommodation with generous Yorkshire hosts; the accommodation is very handy for the centre of Holmfirth and its amenities making for a very pleasant stay.

  • Andy and Sally are great hosts - warm, open folks who I would enjoy meeting under any circumstance. Their house is a comfortable Victorian era row house that I found a very relaxing place to stay. Excellent breakfasts and conversations.

  • Lovely, homely, quirky flat/cottage very central in the beautiful village of Hepworth. Local pub a stones-throw away, I took my dog and the walks around the village were brilliant. Well equipped, I worked remotely from here for a week, had good wifi signal and desk to work from. Very friendly neighbourhood, a real 'secret escape'. Highly recommend.

  • Amanda's house was absolutely perfect for our stay! It's literally a 1 minute walk from a brilliant pub, and it has the most wonderful view over the countryside. I enjoyed relaxing in the roll top bath, what a novelty! A lovely qwerky little place to relax for a short break. Thank you.

  • Great views across the valley from this homely apartment in a old stone townhouse in the centre of the village. A few doors down from a pub serving excellent food.

    Matthew2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Amanda's home, which is very beautifully decorated and furnished with a wonderful view and garden. The main bedroom downstairs is delightful, but the second bedroom is interior and lacks light - but was fine for our teenage daughter. The village is lovely and the nearby pub served good food and were very helpful - providing ice as there isn't a freezer in the apartment. It is also a great location to explore the area. Happy to recommend Amanda's place

    Rupert2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Amanda was helpful from the start and very prompt with the responses. We planned to visit the Peak District and booked the place before asking on a pm. She was very upfront with no surprises. She asked about our plans and shared wholesomely if it would suit our needs. Amanda even suggested a few places around her property for us to visit. The views out from Living room and main bedroom are out to the open greens and the place also has a cute flowery garden. For food other than Pub food and groceries, Holmfirth is a short 7-18mins drive away but there are Pubs within walking distance of the property. We found it to be a great match for our trip and would probably go back just for the views. It's very relaxing! Have fun :-)

    Sarvesh2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Good value, characterful house with great views from back garden. Unfortunately one of the bedrooms and the kitchen had no windows. In a very nice town with a lovely pub at walking distance. Had thought we would do lots of cycling around Holmfirth but it proved too hilly for us!

    Ian2017-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • Although we never met Amanda, she was very helpful and made everything clear. We had everything we needed for a great stay. The apartment was clean and tidy with information on the apartment and places to go, all this with stunning views. The locals were friendly and were happy to give helpful advice. Beautiful walks and plenty to do.

    Jacky2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Amanda's place. The place has very spacious and beautifully decorated living/dining room and kitchen, so when we were inside we were very comfortable, cooking, eating and hanging out. The place is also in the midst of beautiful nature and has a stunning view. Amanda was always availalbe when we needed something. We look forward to visiting again.

Thimble Cottage is an early 19th century Weaver's cottage. It sits on a private road and offers modern, but cosy interiors with beautiful views across the popular hill top village of Scholes.
Thimble Cottage was built in around 1800 and was once a Weaver's cottage and is situated on a private side lane off St George's Road. The house is set over three floors with a cellar that's closed to guests, mainly as the steps are steep and we don't want any accidents. Entering the house you'll find a large kitchen. There's everything you will need here including all the usual kitchen appliances, but also a TV and portable wifi speaker. There's a huge antique Japanese cabinet, which contains lots of tableware and crockery, so please make use of it all. We've also included lots of dog bowls should you be bringing yours along. On the first floor are two bedrooms. One is double and the other single. We have selected quality bedlinen as there's nothing nicer than lovely bedding. We also provide lots of towels and have kept both rooms simple, but elegant. There are large built in wardrobes in the double room. On this floor is the bathroom with an electric shower above the bath. On the upper floor is the lovely surprise to the house. Here you'll find the large and airy sitting room. This is a firm favourite of all those that visit the house. Here you can find a TV, Bluray player and digital radio. The TV has an Amazon stick, so you can also access Netflix with your own log in. There is plenty of seating and things to capture your attention on the walls. If you look out of the sky lights you shall see more lovely views from this level.
Scholes is a pretty little hilltop village that sits beside the popular tourist town of Holmfirth. The area was made famous when the BBC shot 'Last of The Summer Wine' here and many of the pubs and familiar landscapes were captured around Scholes. The cottage run off the main street and is conveniently located next to the shop, post office and local pub. Just around the corner is the locally famed chip shop. Opposite the house are wonderful views and the local area offers many great walks. In Scholes you're only a stones throw from the Trans Pennine way, so it's a popular place for walkers and those just wanting some time away. However, even within the village you can walk across many footpaths and discover lovely wooded areas with streams just across the road. Since there is no garden this is all the better for those with dogs. Our neighbours all have dogs, so don't worry too much if yours get a bit yappy on arrival. You can let your dogs run outside the house just ensure that you clear up their mess as others park in the private driveway
  • Beautiful Yorkshire style stone cottage. We loved the decor it mixes modern and old in a really cool way. Very close to holmfirth which was surprisingly lively on a Saturday night. Really good location for Huddersfield and walks in the Pennines. We would stay again

  • Absolutely beautiful cottage! one regret - we didn't stay long enough!

    Jenya2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is really tastefully decorated. It was a really relaxing place to stay. It's about a 30 minute walk to Holmfirth. There's a pub and a post office very close to the cottage. The only downside for us who took our dog was not having a garden. It really is a beautiful cottage to stay in x

    Ruth2017-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely quirkily decorated cottage. Well equipped and clean. We had an enjoyable stay.

    Neil2017-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot recommend this beautiful cottage enough! Thimble Cottage really has everything you could need, it's a home from home. It's a mid terrace and the neighbours are so friendly and helpful. The road is quiet and there are stunning views of the countryside and hills. Just down the road is a lovely walk through the woods which my dog and I enjoyed every morning first thing. The cottage is warm, cosy and comfortable. Clean and beautifully furnished. Andrew, the owner, is really helpful and approachable and was able to advise on where to take the dog and recommend places to eat. Holmfirth is minutes by car and walkable in about 25 mins if you can stand the steep hills. Lots at fab places to eat like The Black Cat Bistro. Totties Garden Centre is a 5 min walk from the cottage and serves fabulous food. Coeliacs like me are really well catered for. You are well placed to visit many of the beautiful features of the area including some stunning reservoir walks. I can't wait to stay again. Missing Yorkshire already. Thank you for a wonderful stay Andrew.

    Sarah2017-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Andrew's place was a cozy but spacious 2 bedroom cottage, fully equipped as described and really lovely! Although we did not meet him personally, he was in constant communication with us to ensure everything was fine. The location which was hilly countryside was very beautiful with plenty of places to walk or cycle. Holmfirth is also nearby with lots of nice places to eat, if you're not cooking, but there are full cooking facilities for those who prefer to eat in. Overall, it was a lovely cottage in a beautiful location, and I would highly recommend this little gem for a retreat in this part of the country. We definitely hope to be back, if we can find an suitable time for booking, as Andrew's place seems really popular, and for good reason.

    Evelyn2017-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful house! We stayed for over a month while our own house was being renovated and Andrew couldn't have been more helpful or accommodating. This is a gorgeous place to stay in a lovely part of the world with a fantastic host. 5 stars

  • This property is everything that previous reviews say and more. The cottage is beautifully furnished. The area is great for walking and cycling. But if that's not your thing there is a very regular bus service. We ate and had a swift gin at The White Horse which was in walking distance. All in all a cracking cottage. Would highly recommend.

Mallard is a traditional cottage with wonderful original features including beams and barrelled ceilings in both the dining room and kitchen. It is tucked away high above the river, reached directly by a path and has a lovely view from its own garden to the sheltered woodland beyond. The wonderfully healing and relaxing hot tub is available for an additional cost.
Mallard is in a quiet conservation area and is only suitable for people who are willing to be respectful of the peaceful nature of the setting. Mallard has both a small kitchen and small separate dining room with a unique barelled ceiling. It is a spacious cottage for two adults with a large sitting room and bedroom with delightful views over the garden and beyond. The hot tub (optional charges apply see below) has a wonderful view out over the garden to the countryside beyond. The garden is very quiet, the only noise is from the river rushing far below when it is in full flood. Because it is so quiet, noise carries easily, so the cottage is only suitable for people who are prepared to respect the quiet conservation area and keep it quiet. We have had complaints from the neighbours on the main road that some guests have been very noisy too late at night. Guests guilty of this in future will be asked to leave immediately. The master bedroom is very spacious and has a super king size bed (6') and an en-suite shower room. The second bedroom is very, very small and is accessed through the master bedroom, so it was originally intended to be a dressing room or study. There is just room for a small bed and bedside table as you can see in the photos, there is no storage space. It is suitable for a child, or two small children, or an adult who is good friends and willing to share the dressing, storage space & en-suite with the occupant/s of the master bedroom.b
Holmfirth is a quirky village, as woderfully showcased in the TV series Last of the Summer Wine. It is ideal for hikers and cyclists, but also for people who want to wander its quaint cobbled streets and enjoy the market and numerous shops, pubs and restaurants and other attractions. There is also a live music venue - the Picturedrome. The centre of the village is a ten minute walk down hill from the cottage. The walks can be accessed right from the door. Holme Moss with its spectacular views is the steepest climb on the Yorkshire section of the Tour de France and is a short cyle ride / drive away. The river running through the village always has lots of ducks to feed and there is the famous annual Holmfirth Duck race and many annual festivals including the Festival of Folk, the Arts Festival and the Food and Drink Festival.
  • Had an amazing time staying at Mallard Cottage. Angela made us feel so welcome as soon as we booked to stay. Every little detail was attended to Angela did a fantastic job making us feel special with a few personal touches. We really couldn't have asked from more and I would definitely recommend Angela as a host!

  • We had a lovely stay at Angela's cottage. It was immaculate and so peaceful, we had such a relaxing stay, and the hot tub is a great addition. Angela made us feel very welcome with homemade goodies and a welcome hamper on arrival with all the essentials! The cottage is in a lovely location with only a short walk into Holmfirth and a short drive into the Peak District. It is also well equipped for a self catering stay, but with some lovely restaurants close by too. Angela's attention to detail was fantastic and this made it feel so homely. Parking was a little tricky on a busy main road into the town but we did manage to find space a little further down. Overall it was everything we could have wished for in a short break and we do hope to return one day!

  • Our break to Mallard Cottage was very enjoyable indeed. We felt very relaxed upon departure and the hot tub was a great addition. Lots of pubs and restaurants for you to enjoy. The cottage itself was very cozy, with its log burning fire. Angela made us feel very welcome in where she greeted us on arrival with fresh cakes and coffee, it was fantastic. It's quiet clear to see Angela works very hard to provide the best service possible. If you are looking for a relaxing break in this area, I would recommend staying here. Many thanks Angela xx

    Laura2016-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • Angela was a brilliant host: we were welcomed with an assortment of goodies, and especially lovely was that Angela went to a lot of effort to cater for my partner's dietary requirements! She was also very quick to respond to any questions. The property is very nicely put together and feels easily homely: a wide range of kitchen appliances, bathroom stuffs, DVDs, a good power shower, and hot drinks (and also the hot tub!) allowed for an easy weekend of relaxing. Additionally it is 5 minutes' walking distance of Holmfirth, so within a stone's throw of food and entertainment. Holmfirth is a lovely town surrounded by swathes of countryside and beautiful walks: there are also tons of museums and farm parks to visit within driving distance. There are also plenty of neighbouring towns worth visiting for their own attractions: Hepworth, Clayton West, Holmbridge. All-in-all I couldn't fault our weekend, I recommend Angela as a host, and this property as a location.

    Chris2016-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • Angela was very helpful and communicated clearly from the time of booking until check out. The welcome hamper (tailored to our dietary preferences) was a lovely touch and the space was inviting and comfortable. The access to town is ideal. The cottage is in a row of houses on a busy road but because it's at the back, there was no problem at all with noise. I think we imagined a slightly more secluded location, but it is a lovely space.

    Jennifer2016-05-24T00:00:00Z
  • This is a truly wonderful little spot. We were all welcomed and made to feel comfortable at home. Maggie our dog even had little surprises Angela is the queen of 'the little touches' so i will.not ruin the little thoughtful details. You must see it for yourself!

    Katie2017-04-06T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is utterly gorgeous in surroundings that match. The photographs do not do it justice - it is just as quaint and perfect as it looks but multiplied. The additional touches Angela does - the welcome hamper, named ducks etc - make the experience even more wonderful. Angela is such an amazing host she even got the welcome basket to fit my partners dietary requirements. Everything you could think you need is pretty much included, even an umbrella! Angela even had dog bowls set up and waiting for our pooch. The cottage is set back from the road but is much easier to find than I imagined, and Angela was very accommodating at talking us through how to find it. It's a short walk to the town centre (up hill coming back) and is the perfect mix of secluded yet central. I cannot recommend this cottage, and the host Angela, highly enough. This is a must stay.

Please be aware the cottage is on a steep hill. We are a 30 second cycle from the route of the Tour de France and Tour de Yorkshire, leading up one of the finest Pennine climbs - Holme Moss. Footpaths, bridleways and country roads lead directly into beautiful countryside in all directions. Home to the sitcom Last of the Summer Wine, Holmfirth is famous for its historic town centre and the beautiful countryside and villages surrounding it. Each year Holmfirth hosts a wide variety of festivals from beer, food & drink and folk music. We have a number of excellent local micro-breweries, a vineyard and cider farm. It is the perfect venue for a romantic getaway, a sporting weekend, blowing away the cobwebs with the dog or catching a gig after an excellent meal. It really has something for everyone.
  • A lovely little cottage for a one night stay or preferably longer. I was on business for a night and it was absolutely perfect. Would like to come back for longer and explore!!

  • Jerome and pipas place is just a perfect little cottage for that weekend away. Plenty of room in there to watch TV and cook food. The log burner is perfect as well nice little touch. Bed room is a good size and the wet room is perfect as well. No worrying about getting wet feet anywhere you shouldn't. Overall our stay was great central location, hill on the way up and down could be a problem for people who aren't great on their feet but other than that we had no problems at all. Thanks again for letting us stay and I'm sure we will be back!!

  • We were warmly welcomed by Jerome and Pippa to their lovely cottage and shown where everything was . They'd also researched some walking routes for us which was great. The location was perfect, a short walk from the town centre with easy access to the stunning countryside. A thoroughly enjoyable stay and a lovely cottage .

  • Simons bed and breakfast was absolutely super, perfect for what I was looking for. He was extremely helpful, polite and nothing seemed too much trouble. It was in a lovely old building, full of character, the facilities perfect, with tea, coffee and breakfast stuff in the kitchen. If I need a room in this area of the UK again I will definitely book Simons place again. I would recommend Simons B and B to anyone.

  • If you live in any city you will love the spaciousness of Simon's place. The views are stunning, get there before nightfall! Tastefully kitted out. Little details like milk, real coffee, cereal & butter supplied. Comprehensive literary library for insomniacs.

  • Simon's apartment is fantastic - a huge space and the 4 of us were really comfortable. The sofa bed was also really comfy. Holmfirth is a good 20min walk away if you don't mind the steep climb on the way back! Great base for exploring!

  • Great place to stay in God's own county! Simon, the host, very nice. Lovely scenery and great night's sleep. Couldn't ask for more.

    Julie2017-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Simon's apartment was large, bright and comfortable with wonderful views of the surrounding countryside. He provided us with the necessities and much more--fresh flowers, etc. The apartment is nicely decorated, but it was the windows that I couldn't stop looking through. He was very communicative and accommodating both before and during our stay. We were able to walk out the door and take wonderful walks in the surrounding hills (and to a pub), and a short drive took us into town for more extensive shopping and good restaurants. I would highly recommend a stay with Simon!

This lovely one-bed cottage is tucked away down some steep steps in a quiet Holmfirth backwater. The warm, cosy space is newly refurbished, with welcoming stove, gas central heating and lots of homely touches. A short walk takes you down some steps to the bus station, shops and cafés.
Tucked away down a flight of 25 steep stone steps, this traditional Yorkshire under-dwelling has a terrace where you can sit and look out over the town of Holmfirth and beyond. Although the living space is ideal for two, the double sofa-bed means that the cottage can sleep four if desired, and up to six people can eat at the dining table if you are meeting friends or family while in Holmfirth. In the living room, there is a flame-effect electric stove in the stone fireplace, a double sofa bed for occasional extra guests and a vintage French dresser which divides the kitchen from the living and dining area. The gate-leg dining table folds down to a compact size for two people and folds out to seat six: there are four dining chairs with two extra folding ones available, if required. Upstairs, the bedroom has a new double bed, a large new pine wardrobe, a chair with seat cushion and a dressing-table style mirror with a small drawer. There is also room for a travel cot in the bedroom, and this cot (with a good quality mattress) plus a high chair can be reserved with one week's notice. The bathroom has a good shower over the bath and the combi-boiler means you have unlimited hot water. Outside, there is a compact gravel area with bistro table and four chairs for use all year round, and in the summer the decking can be used to soak up the afternoon sun. Because of the access via a flight of 25 steep stone steps, I would not recommend this cottage to anyone with restricted mobility or difficulty with stairs.
Holmfirth is a delightful and vibrant market town where you can immerse yourself in art and culture, walk or cycle along the iconic Tour de France trail, eat a gourmet meal in one of the many excellent restaurants or café bars, or, just at the bottom of the steps into the centre, have a cup of tea in Sid's Café, made famous by the TV comedy series 'Last of the Summer Wine'. Holmfirth is the gateway to the spectacular Peak District National Park, four miles to the south of the town, accessed via Holme Moss View Point, 525m above sea level, which is at the summit of the route made famous by the Tour de France. You can also explore some of the lovely scenery in this area of the Pennines on a five mile walk past Digley, Ramsden and Yateholme Reservoirs. The town itself boasts the north of England's most intimate music venue, the Picturedrome, where you can get close up to famous musicians and bands, and there is a variety of music on offer throughout the year, including the Holme Valley Brass Band Contest in April, the Holmfirth Folk Festival in May and the Holmfirth Music Festival in October. Nearby, you can enjoy live music once a month on Monday evenings on the Penistone Line Music Train and visit the buzzing Marsden Jazz Festival in October. For Art lovers, there is Holmfirth Art Week in July, the HOST Artists' Open Studio Trail every September and the regular Holmfirth Art Market. You can also see Holmfirth through the eyes of the local artist Ashley Jackson, following his route through the back streets of Holmfirth in the free guide available from Holmfirth Tourist Information Centre. Further afield, keen walkers can follow all or part of the 47 mile 'Stanza Stones Trail' from Marsden to Ilkley, to find the six verses carved into the rocks by local poet Simon Armitage CBE. Within 30 minutes drive, you can explore the beautiful Yorkshire Sculpture Park, take a boat trip into the highest, longest and deepest canal in the country at Standedge Tunnel, Marsden, and pamper yourself at the Titanic Spa in Linthwaite.
  • Viv was a pleasant and very accommodating host during our stay. Viv was kind enough to wait for us upon our arrival late at night and very understanding of the delays we encountered. We travelled with a 10 month old baby and Viv was kind enough to provide us with a high chair and travel cot. Viv provided us with items for breakfast and tea/coffee. The cottage is located close to the centre of Holmfirth and local shops. Viv has thought of all eventualities to make the stay at the cottage easy with great communication throughout.

    Zaman2016-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is a perfect location for Holmfirth, a short walk to the town and all it has to offer. One route even brings you out by Sids Cafe!! Viv was really helpful and kept me updated on the booking, with detailed directions and other notes that were really helpful. The cottage is gorgeous, homely and welcoming I couldn't recommend it more!! You will enjoy your stay here xxx

    Melanie2017-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • Communications with Viv were great. The lovely cottage is in a very central location in Holmfirth, and very quiet so we could get a good night's sleep. A very nice and cosy accommodation to stay in Holmfirth. Thanks Viv.

    Daniel2016-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • Booking with Viv was very easy and, as the dates got nearer, Viv sent plenty of helpful information to ensure we arrived safe & sound and prepared for our weekend stay. Nothing was too much trouble and we had a warm welcome on our arrival. The house was spotlessly clean with fresh bedding and towels and plenty of supplies for a generous breakfast each morning. The house is minutes from the centre of Holmfirth so a great base for exploring the town as well as leading to roads that take you further out into the countryside. We would definitely book again if we go up to Holmfirth again.

    Mandy2016-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay in Holmfirth. Gracious hostess who goes above and beyond in getting you settled in.

    Tam2016-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • we had a great week staying at Viv's cottage. Everything is as described in the Airbnb profile. We particularly liked the homely feel of the cottage and the very comfy bed. In addition, it was great that Viv provided a few fridge and cupboard essentials - these very much appreciated. The cottage is within a very short walk (downhill) into the town. Plenty of great restaurants to sample. To drive to the cottage you have to go down a narrow lane, with first come first served parking available on the side of the lane. We didn't particularly like driving down it, but this wasn't too much of an issue for us as we parked in the free car park in (6pm onwards) instead. One thing to be aware of, the steps down to the cottage from the road are very steep. But easily managed if take your time. Would definitely recommend this cottage for a relaxing stay in Holmfirth.

  • What a fantastic cottage in a beautiful village. We had such a lovely stay- we couldn't believe how generous you were Viv! After a tough journey there you were very accommodating and we were extremely surprised to find breakfast and many other food items already on the cottage. We ha everything we needed and felt extremely comfortable there. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

    Leah2016-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Viv was really welcoming and left some things in the fridge for breakfast which was lovely. It was really clean and the photos don't do justice to the cosiness of the cottage and it's setting. Holmfirth as a place is brilliant and the cottage is a 5 minute walk from the centre which makes it a very relaxing stay.

A superb, luxury glamping Yurt - set in beautiful woodland on the edge of our farmland in the Yorkshire Pennine hills. Log stove, private kitchen/ bathroom, own hot-tub and use of the owners heated indoor pool. Only short walk to village pub/ cafe
  • Steve made us extremely welcome from the moment we arrived. He gave us a run down of the farm & the facilities then showed us to the yurt. The yurt is incredible. Nice little woodland location & everything you need. Warm cosy & luxerious but still with the feeling of being out in the wild. The fridge was stocked with bread & homemade jam which was very kind. Big comfy bed, bathroom with toileteries & the hot tub on the deck made it. Steve & Allison couldn't do enough to make it a fantastic trip. The area has plenty to do. Great local pubs & walks. Holmfirth is only 1/2 hr walk or 10mins in a cab or bus with lots of cracking pubs, bars & places to eat. You can even get up & feed the animals on the farm in the morning. I would sincerely recommend staying here to anyone & would love to stay here again.

    Rachael2015-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic glamping experience, the owners had thought of everything you would need and the location was ideal for a relaxing getaway. We would happily recommend!

  • We had a wonderful weekend in Rowan yurt! It was cosy and warm during our stay and we loved the hot tub! There were plenty of places to explore in the area and we particularly enjoyed walking round a few reservoirs not far away.

    Rhian2017-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the yurt. The other reviews are right - they really have thought about every little detail! We hadn't realised before we got there but there are other cottages that are rented out and another yurt. They have a booking sheet for the pool/sauna/steam room which works really well - you could have it to yourself! Really nice walks and the pub nearby is lovely too. Would 100% recommend and love to go back! Thank you!

    Sophie2017-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful weekend away at Maythorn Yurt. It was very clean, warm and very well equipped. The underfloor heating meant we were never cold despite the snow outside and the wood burner was warm and atmospheric. Steve was there as soon as we arrived and guided us through the snow to our yurt. We enjoyed walks in the beautiful countryside, the friendly pub down the road and sitting in the hot tub surrounded by snowy trees and (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN)ing robins. Every detail had been thought of. There were robes, slippers, Latvian socks, eggs, bacon, bread and homemade jam on arrival. Really enjoyed it and would very much recommend it to anyone.

    Jennifer 2016-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The Yurt was fantastic and a brilliant place to stay. Steven made us both feel very welcome and gave a very thorough tour of the space and the surrounding farm. There was plenty of supplies available including freshly made bread which was a really nice touch. The Yurt has everything we could need including a hot tub, incredible bed (I haven't slept so well in months) and kitchen/bathroom. Loved using the log burner too to make it feel really toasty.

    Pete2015-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • We have just arrived home from our 2 night stay in the Rowan yurt. It exceeded our expectations, it was wonderful. The staff were friendly and helpful and the grounds were so quaint and tranquil. The yurt was set amongst lots of trees to give 100% privacy to be able to enjoy our romantic wedding anniversary stay. We ate at a lovely local pub one evening, this was just a 2 minute walk from uppergate farm. Other than our meal out we relaxed in the hottub with champagne followed by a bbq's. So perfect. Thankyou for our wonderful experience.

Welcome to "The Lodge", our charming converted Victorian washroom, close to the centre of Holmfirth. Location: Across from our house, by Victoria Park. Only a 2 minute walk down the hill to the centre of Holmfirth. Inside: Private and self-contained. Gas central-heating. Comfortable double bed. Wifi, TV, DAB radio. Fridge. Tea and coffee. Hairdryer. Shower room with toiletries and towels. Outside: Terrace with table and chairs. Reserved parking on our drive.
Our lovely mini-cottage was once the washroom to the main house. It was built from local stone c 1900 and originally contained white glazed tiles, a coal-fired range and a stone wash tub. On the side of the building is a face carved in stone, which we have been told is that of the man who had the houses built for his 2 maiden daughters. We converted "The Lodge" into a spare bedroom about 10 years ago. It is well insulated and heated by a radiator and towel rail from a gas boiler located in our garage. On fine days you will be able to enjoy breakfast in the sunshine on the small terrace where there are garden chairs and a table.
We are located literally a stone's throw from the centre of the lively and friendly town of Holmfirth, adjacent to Victoria Park. All the local amenities are conveniently available within walking distance. Whether you are here for shopping and sight-seeing; the food, music or art festivals; a live-music gig at the Picturedrome; or to enjoy a night out in one of the many pubs and restuarants, you will be able to leave the car safely parked and set off into town on foot. There are also several cafes in the town to choose from for breakfast and lunch. Please note that Cooper Lane is steep with a cobbled pavement. Holmfirth is an ideal base or stop-over point for walking, cycling and touring holidays. It lies in the picturesque Holme Valley and is close to the Peak District National Park. The Tour de France route came through here before attacking the formidable climb up Holme Moss in 2014. The council-run gym and swimming pool, and a recreation ground, are only half a mile away by the river.

We were visited by her two adorable pets, Ethel the Setter and Timothy the cat - Ethel is a darling!!!! Her property is a 15 minute walk from the lovely town centre of Holmfirth, or a £5 taxi fare. She was excellent to communicate with and we would definitely try to stay at her cottage if we are ever visiting the area again. Thanks for hosting us Sara. We had a perfect weekend break!

My cosy two bedroom terraced cottage is situated in Holmfirth, made famous as the setting for The Last of the Summer Wine TV Series. A great retreat to relax and put your feet up after a day exploring the Holme Valley. A two minute stroll down the cobbled lane will take you into the heart of Holmfirth, boasting cafes, restaurants, shops, wine bars, the famous Holmfirth music venue The Picturedrome and all other amenities. Couples, families and solo travellers welcome. Small dog friendly.
  • This is a nice place to stay for a couple: cottages in Holmfirth are very small. Parking is very difficult even with a small car but it is in very easy walking distance from the Centre.

This is a single bedroom in addition to double bedroom available as listed separately. All house/location details are the same as double bedroom, other than room itself of course. Single is at cheaper rate.

My place is close to Holmfirth tourist area, cafes, restaurants, library, wine bar, village shops, bus stop. Local walks, reservoirs and picturesque countryside nearby. Friendly community, peaceful village yet not secluded or cut off from civilisation! Nearby town is Huddersfield, central location to get to a number of big cities and motorways in the region. Commutable to Kirklees, Calderdale, Wakefield areas. Leeds and Manchester under an hour away.
  • Paveen was an exceptional host! Incredibly kind and caring - I wouldn't recommend anywhere higher. FANTASTIC!

  • I stayed at Paveen's lovely house while passing through on a cycle trip. She was brilliant at all communication before my arrival and had even set up indoor bike storage for me I her dining room (bonus points!). The bedroom was cosy with a comfy bed and Paveen provided all other necessary bits and pieces to make my stay as comfortable as possible.

  • Very comfortable place in charming Honley. Paveen is super friendly & helpful, caught quick & easy buses to Huddersfield & Holmfirth, went for a great walk through Honley Woods. Highly reccommended!

Fully equiped kitchen, and new TV with 200+ recent movies streamed via Plex. 100+ kids movies to keep them occupied and a childrens park 3 minutes walk away.
There is a very good reason why Holmfirth is known locally as 'Little Hollywood.' This is the backdrop where the iconic British comedy, Last of the Summer Wine was filmed. Everybody has heard of Compo, Foggy and Clegg, yet, there are other reasons why this once sleepy little town gets so many visitors each year. Located in the heartlands of the Holme Valley, this is a picture postcard town that is also extremely popular with wildlife enthusiasts and ramblers. The truth is that even without those three loveable characters, and episodes that stretched over more than 20 seasons, the town would still be a tourist magnet because of its magical beauty and welcoming atmosphere. For anybody visiting Holmfirth for the first time, a trip to the tourist information centre is well worth it. This seemingly sleepy community has far more going on during the year than you would expect. The whole area literally oozes with creativity, and there is an all year festival program that includes many exciting events, in the Food and Drink, Film, Music and the Arts sectors. Of course, just like Memphis has Elvis, Liverpool has the Beatles, and Oxford has Morse; Holmfirth has Nora Batty in all of her splendour. There is definitely something familiar to any British visitor to Holmfirth when they get a glimpse of the cobbled streets and gently rolling hills. They look so well-known to all of us because they were actually used as locations in Last of the Summer Wine. It's recommended that the best way to see everything to do with the series is to take the vintage bus tour. This will take you over the tiny roads at the top of the valley, to some of the breathtaking West Yorkshire locations that were used during filming. After the tour, a visit to Actor Bill Owens's Summerwine exhibition and gift shop, located as you would expect, in Compo's house. A trip to Holmfirth offers a great day out for all the family, and lots of people who originally came because of the television series come back again and again because of the ambience, and the warm welcome of the locals. The series may have finished, but the enchantment continues. Nightlife in Holmfirth consists of modern restaurants, Tapas eataries, trendy bars and the renowned intimate music venue that is The Picturedrome.
  • Great location, well equipped, comfortable accommodation with great views, we would stay again if visiting the area.

House sleeps 9 in 1 king size bedroom, 1 double bedroom, a family room with double bed and 2 single beds, and a small single bedroom. Upstairs bathroom with toilet, sink, shower and bath, utility room downstairs with walk in shower, toilet and sink. Large kitchen and 2 reception rooms. Level off road parking on the drive for up to 4 cars, lawned front and back gardens with sitting areas and garden furniture.
Quiet, clean, uncluttered home in Wooldale, West Yorkshire. The house is less than a mile from Holmfirth town centre with its many cafes, shops and bars. This is the perfect location for outdoor pursuits, walking or biking in the Pennines and Peak District. There are ample walks from the house around the area's many hills and reservoirs, and a downstairs shower room makes it easy to clean off muddy kit. It is also an ideal venue for visiting Huddersfield University (6 miles away) and Wakefield (12 miles) for the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, National Mining Museum or Hepworth Gallery. Holmfirth lies directly between Leeds, Manchester and Sheffield, which are all about 20 miles away and can be accessed by public transport within an hour. Holmfirth is a lovely small town in West Yorkshire, renown as the setting for BBC's Last of the Summer Wine. It is a scenic and rural area, a great place for wandering in independent shops, tearooms, vintage and antique shops, boutiques, bars and award winning restaurants. Holmfirth Picturedrome is a wonderful small music venue which hosts live music, film screenings and other events. There are two small independent breweries and a vineyard within a mile. There is level off road parking on the drive for up to 4 cars. This is very unusual for Holmfirth! Please note that 2 dogs usually live downstairs in this house. I'm happy to consider pets (downstairs only) but please contact me beforehand.
Great local facilities - pub, shop, friendly neighbours. Wooldale is a quaint wee area and Holmfirth is a lovely town, fantastic for a wander. Good links to public transport. The most beautiful countryside - ideal for outdoor pursuits, walking, biking. A wonderful place to live!
  • Lovely house and location. Great for a family get together.

  • Lynne kindly gave us her whole house for a night and I cannot express enough what an amazing experience we had! The house itself is lovely, it has big rooms and is beautifully decorated. The location is perfect for wandering into Holmfirth or going off on a hike in the hills. Lynne went out of her way to make us all feel at home - leaving out breakfast foods for us, all the information we needed to know about the house's facilities, making up air beds for extra people and there was even a map where she had pinned great places to see or go in the surrounding area. We'd go back in a heartbeat, it was the perfect home from home with the perfect host!

    Lilli2016-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the uncluttered contemporary but classic feel. It really is smooth as a jar of skippy! The kids really liked the garden and the pickled Lego was a massive hit. B Medina was a majestic home delivered Indian. Early doors domineering in the bar at Catch a great find. Book early folks.

    Graham2016-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay in Holmefirth for a nearby wedding. 8 of us stayed the house very comfortably. The house was well stocked and Lynne had left a hamper full of goodies which was most welcome after a hard slog up the M1!

    Ben2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful (and surprisingly roomy) house in a very picturesque setting. Everything that you'd want was there, from two excellent showers to a pot of coffee to start the post-wedding recovery. Great house in a great place and great value too.

  • Unfortunately, I wasn't able to make it, but the other 5 girls did and loved it. They enjoyed the house and found it the perfect place for a catch up. Thank you so much!

The Long House is a fabulous detached property just a ten minute walk from the centre of Holmfirth. It is an ideal base from which to explore the local area or just chill out in the local bars and restaurants. We are offering, in total, two double rooms for bnb.
We are offering this second double bedroom in our house alongside another one also advertised with Airbnb; it is spacious and has original wooden floors and comfortable furnishings. There is space to hang and store your clothes, and the room has access to a private shower room down the hall. If you prefer a bath you can just ask to use the bathroom next door to the shower room. We have a wrap around garden which ensures a good night's sleep and your room looks out onto it.
Holmfirth is a unique location in the heart of the Pennines and is a thriving village with lots of independent shops and cafes to browse during the day. It's also brilliant for walking or cycling if you have the energy. At night there are plenty of bars and pubs and several restaurants catering for different tastes. We particularly like the lively, informal feel of Mezze, a Greek- themed tapas restaurant. The Picturedrome, too, is a wonderful venue for bands and other events and well worth a visit. Check out what's on before you book a room. Further afield, on the Wakefield side, there's Yorkshire Sculpture Park and the Hepworth Gallery and we're not too far from the buzz of Leeds, Manchester and Sheffield. In fact, there's lots to see and do and lots of lovely people to meet.
  • This was an excellent place to stay, both in terms of friendliness and the accommodation. We were warmly greeted and offered warm drinks after arriving later in the evening. The house was freshly decorated and furnished to a high standard and we had a good breakfast in a wonderful conservatory room overlooking the valley. Highly recommended.

Newly fitted out with all the same extra touches as our other properties, see them for our 5* reviews. Two bed apartment in a listed converted mill with period features and wonderful south facing views over open countryside to the moorland of the Peak District. Our only property suitable for people who cannot manage steps & with private parking. Despite the semi-rural position it is only a 10/15 minute walk into the centre of Holmfirth.
Teal apartment is a luxuriously furnished two bedroom apartment in a listed converted mill with wonderful south and west facing views of open countryside and the spectacular moorland peaks of the Peak District National Park. It has a fully equipped kitchen and spacious bathroom with a roll top bath and rain shower. It has been sympathetically converted with a natural stone floor everywhere except the carpeted bedrooms and retains many period features including exposed beams and deep stone window sills. It is very spacious for a couple sharing the master bedroom and comfortable for a family with young children sharing the second double bed. The second bedroom has an award winning study bed, it is a large desk by day converting to a full size double bed by night with a memory foam mattress, whilst leaving the contents of the desk top undisturturbed. The bed is very comfortable for two adults, but you cannot walk all round it, as one side is against the wall, so one adult has to get into the bed from the bottom, or roll across. It is also quite high, a small step is provided to aid access.

  • Whilst we didnt meet Kathryn during our visit, prior communication was good and we got into the house with no issue. Beware of dropping off luggage by car at the front door - its on a very narrow lane which is a dead end. Hard to navigate, especially at night. Robin Cottage is beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean and the lovely Christmas decorations a nice touch. Kitchen well stocked and wifi very good. Minutes from shops and restaurants, whilst being quiet and secluded - it makes for an excellent base to explore. Note parking can be tricky - I ended up parking 10 mins walk away - which wasnt an issue for us but might be for others.

    Jeremy2016-12-11T00:00:00Z
  • We received a very warm welcome from our hosts. The cottage was beautiful, immaculately clean and cosy. The location is great too as it is quiet and secluded though all amenities are just a short distance away. Two nights was just not long enough. We would highly recommend this cottage and would happily stay again.

    Karen2017-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • This is an excellent small cottage backing onto the river that flows through Holmfirth, with cosy rooms, very comfortable beds and a lovely sense of being right in the centre of town but also quiet and secluded. Definitely worth considering for families of no more than four, and a very well-run and well-equipped place to stay. Holmfirth itself gets very trafficky but you can walk everywhere from Robin Cottage. Highly recommended.

    Neil2017-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • Kathryn was amazing from the start answering all the questions I had and making us feel very welcome - it's a shame we didn't get to meet her! Although the house is not geared up for kiddies we took our 3 year old and also our 7 week old baby and it worked out very well, you just have to keep an eye out on the little ones up the stairs etc but nothing unusual there. The house is lovely - small and very quaint but with everything you need. We arrived late at night in the rain so we're very glad to arrive and be able to put the fire on and warm up. There was a lovely little welcome basket with teas, coffe (instant and ground) and some biccies. Everything was very comfortable. The beds are very comfy and we had a great night's sleep. Location wise the house is perfect - right Int the middle of Holmfirth so we were able to explore the village really easily on foot on the Saturday. It's close to everything and there is what looks like a nice coffe/brunch place just opposite the top of the road where the house is. Thanks for welcoming us into your home Kathryn!

    Rebecca2016-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • This house is a delight, and even within the space constraints they have managed to create a really generous bathroom and main bedroom. The attention to detail is wonderful and our daughter loved the secret feel of the second bedroom. Cant fault it. Highly recommended.

    Simon2016-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • This was a cute cottage with so much history and charm. We loved having . access to town by foot . Parking is tricky in the summer which seems to be busier but we managed just fine . Despite it being near a pub and the town it was so quiet . We slept peacefully every night. There is a lovely table set outside the cottage for tea and reading a book . We were greeted with a basket of teas and coffee. The kitchen has everything you need not that we cooked with all the fine restaurants there. Lastly, Victoria was a dream host who was very responsive and ever so helpful. We would love to go back!

  • I can't recommend this place highly enough. We stayed to do some cycling in the area, it was a fantastic base. Just a short, shallow (compared to some roads int he area trust me!!!) walk to town to some great bars, restaurants and cafes all within 10 minutes. Rounded off with fantastic views across the valley from every window. Sue is fantastic, happy to answer any questions and make some great recommendations for food and drink - we really enjoyed our stay.

  • Such a wonderful stay at Eastholme cottage. We were 3 couples and a 1 year old and there was plenty of space. The open plan living/dining/kitchen area was just fantastic for all of us to be in cooking, eating and playing board games! The pizza oven made for a fun afternoon of pizza making. The cottage is a very short stroll into town which is a picturesque town filled with independent shops and cafe's - we had great fun wandering round the lanes stopping in shops and for afternoon tea. The cottage was just beautiful with many characterful original features (the windows are stunning). A great long weekend was had by all - we just wish we could've stayed longer!

  • Sue made sure everything was ok before arrival and we got in with no issues. lovely spacious house with a beautiful garden. two of the bedrooms are nice and big with double beds last one with two single beds a bit of a tight space but all rooms comfortable. really only one or two very minor issues with functioning of house but certainly not enough to cause any issues or make our stay less enjoyable. would certainly be happy to stay there again if we came back to Yorkshire.

  • This is a very secluded spot and very quiet, right in the centre of Holmfirth. Normally a noisy place to stay centrally, this was a joy to find at the end of a lovely residential cul de sac. Good parking for one car, some steep steps that could be tricky in the wet and then you enter this self contained studio through double patio doors. These give you a lovely view of the garden and beyond and you are welcome to use the garden and patio. The studio is light and airy with all the facilities you need. The hosts even provided a light breakfast! Very cosy and very private, yet only a couple of minutes walk from shops and the centre. Loved it and will definitely be back!

  • On arrival Sue sent me a text to welcome me and then showed me around the lovely house. Enjoyed the house and its facilities and the area too. Good choice of local pubs for food and drink as well as accessible shops etc. The only things missing were perhaps a DVD Player (Monopoly) for the rainy days and access to rear of property... Thank you Sue and John.

  • Beautifully decorated with quality furniture and fittings. Bright and roomy with lovely views. Everything you could want in a holiday home is here. Susan was friendly and we were able to contact her if we needed to. We had a lovely stay

  • Susan's place is our home from home when we are in the Huddersfield area. It is well equipped and is spotlessly clean. Easy dedicated parking and two good eating places within walking distance.

  • Croftnook is without question the best AirBnB place I've stayed at. I used it as my home base for day trips to places within a half-hour drive. I took a couple of walks in the countryside, and walked to the local grocer to buy food to cook a couple of dinners. All very easy and pleasant.

    Jeff2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Sue was a great host greeting us with a very friendly welcome; the cottage is perfect, so comfortable, clean, well proportioned with a real quality feel - excellent value. The location was perfect for our stay, as short walk into Shepley (lovely couple of pubs) and very close to Peak District, Halifax and York. We had a perfect 5dy break. Many thanks Sue.

Exquisite 17thC cottage with hot tub in a gorgeous hamlet overlooking the Holme Valley. Perfect for relaxing, the house booking is for four people, not suitable for small or (unruly!) children. Dogs (with responsible owners) are welcome too!!
The house, built in 1660, is two cottages knocked into one. The main garden is south facing and very private. It is accessed from the garden bedroom as the house is built in to the side of the hill. Bedrooms are light and airy with magnificent views. There is off road parking for upto two cars close to the house. PLEASE NOTE we ask for a returnable £50 deposit to cover breakages and damage.
This is a truly delightful environment, tranquil and secluded yet only 20 mins walk or five minute drive from Holmfirth. A little gem in spectacular countryside. This is a quiet rural hamlet suitable for guests looking to relax and spend a peaceful time in the countryside. Guests are of course expected to treat the house and neighbours with consideration and respect! Parking is only on the designated spaces you'll be shown, and noise should be kept to a minimum.
  • Lovely rural cottage, friendly neighbours, cosy well furnished. This is like staying at a favourite aunties, including a tipple of sherry before bed! Beautiful base for exploring the peak district and beyond. Hot tubs and open fires really make the house (although we didn't get chance to use the HT). The house is filled to the brim with collecatbles so if you prefer a minimal space you could feel a little over whelmed! Sarah really organised everything inc. a bottle of very appreciated wine. Best nights sleep in ages and beautiful clear skye for star gazing.

  • Thank you for a wonderful stay - I was delighted with the house. The photos just don't do it justice. Sarah is friendly, approachable and accommodating - even when I had a few hiccups with my plans. Amazingly well stocked - almost no need to pack a bag to take! Neighbours were friendly and helpful, very close to the town which has an excellent music venue (The Picturedrome), picturesque and quiet. Wine, cake and a full fridge, slippers, toiletries and a warm fire - what else could a guest possibly need?

    Kate2016-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • Great views from this lovely country cottage. Sarah was a great host and there were some lovely finishing touches like cake&cookies waiting on our arrival!

  • Sarah was a great host and the cottage was really lovely. Sarah communicated a lot before check in, I wasn't there for check in my friends got there before me but everything still went smooth, basic essentials were provided that was needed for a comfortable stay and she always made it known she was near by if we needed anything. Perfect weekend would highly recommend

  • Andrea made us feel very welcome. She is a gracious host and her cottage is a fantastic place to stay. We couldn't have asked for anything more.

  • Fantastic stay at timber cottage - the room and bathroom are lovely and it is in a great location. Andrea was incredible helpful and we had a great breakfast.

    Louise2016-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • Delightful. Utterly delightful. On this occasion Andrea was away but left clear instructions for us. We came into this delightful cottage with our dog Freya to find a lovely welcome note, lots of breakfast goodies, bedding and treats for Freya from Andrea's own dog and treats for us too!! Andrea's hospitality shone brightly even though she wasn't there - I can imagine what it would be like if she was! Timber cottage is a nice mix of old and new and feels very homely. The guest room is spacious, the bed - importantly - large and very comfortable and the en-suite shower room modern with a fun walk-in shower. The house is clean and well presented whilst retaining a feeling of being lived in - an important feature of an AirBnB stay. The cottage is a five minute walk to town up and down a pretty steep hill, so gird your loins for that! But the advantage of its location is the view across the valley and easy access to footpaths. Thank you, Andrea, for making us feel so welcome in your absence. Your home is ideally located, fun, quirky and your little touches made us beam with joy.

    Richard2016-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a delightful long weekend's stay. Andrea went to every effort to make us welcome, from the warmth of the logburner stove, to the slippers for the en-suite and the mini-bar (a nice touch). The approach up a 1 in 3 hill to the cottage was initially a bit daunting and our walks up and down provided much needed exercise, but it was totally worth it, but probably not to be recommended with a push-chair.

    John2016-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Andrea's house over New Year's Eve. The house was beautiful, very clean and had everything we needed to feel at home. Andrea even went the extra mile by providing breakfast, snacks and toiletries for us over the two days. We would definitely stay again! Thanks Andrea!

This private apartment comprises the whole top floor of a beautiful three storey, detached Georgian house with large rooms and period features. The views from the windows have been described as 'stunning'. The house also has a private entrance for guests.
We are a small family business and have lived in the beautiful and interesting village of Holmfirth for over 20 years. The apartment is managed and maintained by ourselves and we take a great deal of pride in doing our best to ensure that our guests have everything they could possibly need and that each cottage is complete, clean and comfortable. Throw in great weather, breath-taking scenery, amazing local events and hospitality, then we are sure you will have a wonderful time here in the Holme Valley.
Holmfirth became well known for the 'Last of the Summer Wine' series and there are many easily recognisable shops and buildings in the centre. It has a rich industrial heritage (mainly wool) which had a big impact on the architecture in the village. There is also the Holmfirth Picture Drome which has been hailed as the 'North of England's finest intimate music venue' and always has some great events in the calendar. When you've had your fill of being outside Holmfirth has plenty of tea shops, bars and restaurants. Just around the corner from the apartment is a traditional pub serving food and a selection of real ales. Holmfirth is also the hub of a creative community and there are many exhibitions, festivals and music competitions throughout the year. The scenery across Holmfirth, the Holme Valley, and surrounding areas is spectacular all year round. From snow covered hills and valleys in the winter, to bluebell-carpeted woodlands, the area is ideal for blowing away those winter cobwebs or simply having a lazy summer picnic. Pull on your walking boots or cycling shorts, pack the camera and head for the hills, where you will be rewarded with peace, fresh air and panoramic views.
  • An amazing place-the photos don't even do it justice. I would recommend to anyone it was just perfect.

  • This place is an absolute gem. I would highly recommend staying here. Kate is a fabulous host, who made us feel very welcome when we arrived and explained lots of useful information about the local area. The apartment has everything and more than you could ever need. If I'm ever visiting the area again I will definitely try to stay here again. Many thanks Kate for a wonderful stay.

    Angela2017-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment is clean and comfortable. The main bedroom where we stayed has stunning views over the peaks, from the enormous and comfortable kingsized bed. The kitchen was well equipped, we cooked a few meals and had breakfast there looking out onto a beautiful view. Kate had left us fresh bread, butter, marmalade and milk when we arrived, and encouraged us to help ourselves to fresh eggs from the chicken coop each morning. The living room was warm and comfortable, we lit the wood burner one evening, it was lovely. All in all I would definately stay here again if we are ever in the area. We had a really lovely stay.

  • Absolutely loved our weekend at Burnlee House - couldn't have asked for anything more. Friendly welcome, lovingly decorated and kitted out but in a way that made you feel at home, not in a "can't touch that" show room kind of way. Our 3 year old loved it too - felt very safe for him and all the things around prompted lots of questions from him that he didn't even open his bag of toys all weekend (though I now forsee a guitar purchase in our future...). We didn't explore around the area much, mostly deliberately, but Kirklee light railway was great. Would happily go back, with kids, without kids, with friends, in a couple....

  • Kate was extremely welcoming and kind - was organised in the days before our arrival and made sure we were safely settled with plenty of really helpful suggestions for our stay in Holmfirth too! The property is absolutely beautiful and a real pleasure to stay in. Thank you so much!

  • Kate's place was really excellent and went way beyond our expectations. It was not only clean and comfortable but welcomed us with such rich history and a lovely place to come home to after spending many hours out and about exploring the wonderful places around the area. The nearby public walking trails were also great sights to behold and experience, all made possible by Kate's recommendations and a file of maps prepared to guide us through. The fresh eggs, bread and marmalade were pleasant surprises as well which we appreciate it a lot. Kate's great hospitality has allowed our family to thoroughly enjoy our stay at Holmfirth!

  • Cosy apartment, quiet, relaxed, the apartment had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. It felt like everything had been carefully considered to make our stay as enjoyable and relaxed as possible. Kate was so friendly and welcoming, we felt so at home.

  • We couldn't have been more happy staying at Kate's home. The views were marvelous, it was impeccably clean, full of charm and character. And Kate was an unbelievable guide! We stayed with our five year old son who adored the chickens and bunnies as well as the vegetable patch. The house was fully equipped with everything you might need.

A bright and comfortable room in our detached house, in a quiet location close to Holmfirth in Summer Wine country. Enjoy fantastic views from our garden, and walks in the nearby Peak District and local Holme Valley beauty spots.
A kingsize bed in a good-sized double room, accommodating two people comfortably.
Holmfirth is renowned as the setting for the Last of the Summer Wine TV series. Nowadays, it has a growing reputation for hosting many arts events including the annual Folk Festival, Food Festival, Art Week and Arts Markets. The Picturedrome is great venue to go and see live bands, and there is an excellent range of restaurants and pubs serving a range of food to suit all tastes. Holmfirth is an excellent base for walking in the surrounding moors and around the many picturesque reservoirs, as well as venturing further afield into the Peak District. If that's not enough activity, there is a local swimming pool and fitness centre.
  • Kath and Dave welcomed us into their home and we instantly felt completely at ease. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and most comfortable. The breakfast was a delight, especially Dave's home made bread ! They were great company and are really good ambassadors for the local area and culture that is on offer. We will definitely stay there again and would recommend others to do so.

Kath and David are so welcoming and make you feel very comfortable and at ease immediately,So generously opening up their house and garden for our use The perfect accommodation whatever your needs, as close enough to the town centre and yet so quiet at the top of the hill, Its a pleasure walking up the hill knowing what is awaiting us, As we travelled by train it was great that Kath was able to collect us on this occasion, buses are abundant if required, Time permitting we will enjoy walking the route from the station to Spring Gardens now we know the lay of the land, The surrounding are really picturesque and we look forward so very much to our next visit.,,,breakfast, how could we leave this to the end,,,,absolutely scrummy, lovely home made bread and the best fresh fruit salad. • I stayed a night at Kath and Dave's whilst over from france. They are a lovely couple. They couldn't have been more helpful, kind and welcoming. The house is beautiful, the room is very comfortable and it really feels like a home from home. The town of Holmfirth is a real find, lots of cool little independent shops, cafés and restaurants. I'm really happy to have discovered this beautiful English town.

    Jo2014-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • Kath and Dave were excellent hosts and a great double-act of entertaining and catering. We really enjoyed not only their company but also the food that was generously offered to us. In addition the house was a masterclass in home decor and clearly reflected the passion for art that the couple share; this combined very well with the sumptuous comfort of the bed and underfloor-heated bathroom, to mention just two examples. The setting was in a peaceful cul-de-sac on the edge of town, with lovely rural walks and views nearby. This was our very first experience with airbnb, and we're grateful to Kath and Dave for making it such a positive one.
