  • The Shepherds Hut is cute and cosy- exactly as pictured. Susan is a great host who made us feel very welcome. She went above and beyond to ensure we had a good stay- she even drove us to the station as we were leaving, which was very much appreciated given the pouring rain! I would recommend this to anyone looking for a romantic hideaway.

  • As all the other reviews say, this is a lovely accommodation. Immaculately cleaned, has all the essentials (and some non-essentials - great selection of books and DVDs). Would definitely go back - highly recommended.

  • Sue is a warm and lovely host. She could not have been more helpful! The shepherds hut is clean, very cozy, and a nice place to relax.

  • Absolutely fantastic long weekend in the South Downs. Sue's Shepherd hit is in a perfect location, no need to spend hours in the car visiting places. The hut was so sweet. I was concerned it would be a sort of camping experience, but I was wrong, it has all the mod cons and we spent the weekend in total comfort. Thank you Sue :)

  • I booked this cottage for my friend and her sister for a mid week break. They had an amazing time there and loved every moment. I was told the cottage was exceptionally clean, in a great location and Sue was very friendly. They couldn't think of a single negative comment. Thank you

  • Fantastic location, really homely and very different place to stay! Really enjoyed cooking breakfast outside with bacon and eggs from the local farm shop! Had a fantastic walk around Petworth and a visit to Climping beach. Lovely views, walks and pubs to be visited in this area. Sue and Tim were fantastic hosts, thanks again and hopefully see you soon!

  • Just back from a wonderful stay - Peter is definitely the host with the most, everything we needed was provided & more. The accommodation was lovely & clean, & had stunning views.

    Sharon2016-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at Peter's Penthouse, with Peter being the most accommodating host imaginable. The property itself is exactly as described and the photo's being a true representation of what to expect (actually feels much bigger in reality). It is very welcoming and has literally everything you could want or need, with the cupboards full of cooking appliances and spices. The sofa, television and speakers were a highlight, and was a lovely way to relax in the evenings. We traveled by train from London and you could not be closer to the station. Peter himself went he extra mile during our stay, with nothing feeling like too much trouble. He offered to do a small shop before, and met us at the station to make sure we could easily find the penthouse. Upon arrival we were greeted by candles, soup and after a quick tour were left alone to enjoy the evening. The breakfast food was amazing and there was plenty of it for the two of us. Finally Peter allowed us to have a late checkout, which was a nice touch, it meant that we had a full two days after arriving late on Friday and made all the difference. Overall we loved Peter's place and have every intention of returning for our next weekend away. Would recommend to anybody.

    Daniel2017-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • Peter went the extra mile for us meeting us off the train and getting lots of breakfast supplies in. The flat was great and clean, and very well placed for the station. Would highly recommend it!

    Sarah2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Very accurate description of the flat, lived up to expectations and the views are so lovely. Great to sit on either of the 2 balconies enjoying the sunshine. Everything you could possibly need to have a comfortable holiday has been provided by Peter. He is quickly responsive to communication and a great host. Would highly recommend.

    Sue2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Peter was very friendly and the flat was very nice and clean. The only drawback was that the bedroom had very thin blinds (rather than curtains) and so was very light in the morning which made it quite hard to sleep.

    Mike2016-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent and spacious apartment with two great balconies. Peter made us feel very welcome and really went the extra mile in his preparations. Especially the breakfast was fantastic!

    Tina2016-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • We would like to say a big thank you to Peter for his hospitality and for letting us stay in his amazing penthouse. Peter was on hand when we arrived to give us a quick tour of the flat, and was really helpful in describing some of the local attractions. We were made to feel very welcome from the off, and the flat really did have everything you could possibly need. The views from the two balconies are breathtakingly good, and provided a perfect spot for dining and unwinding with some drinks. Peter kindly left us some prosecco for the evening, in addition to a great selection of breakfast provisions. The sausages and bacon were particular highlights! We would wholeheartedly recommend paying the flat a visit. It really is a fantastic base to explore the Downs and the surrounding areas, and is a great escape from the city. Our only regret was not booking more time off work so we could stay longer, so we'll definitely have to come back at some point!

    Steven2016-05-16T00:00:00Z
  • A fantastic penthouse with stunning views! We booked Peter's as a place to get ready with my bridesmaids for my wedding and it couldn't have been more perfect - spacious, clean and wonderful. My new husband and I then stayed the night and were again awe-struck by the views. Peter is a fantastic host who made us feel really welcome and went out his way to give us the best stay possible.

  • Judy & Angus' house is incredible and I would recommend anyone to stay. Judy was a fabulous host and the breakfast was absolutely amazing. The house itself is beautiful and the gardens are really stunning. We even made use of the tennis court! As a group of 6 looking for a base for the weekend whilst attending a wedding, this really was the perfect place. Thank you Judy and we will hopefully be back to stay again!

  • Wow - we were planning to stay in this region for 1 night to visit Coates but saw the house and booked 3 nights and were not disappointed. The words say you will be left a self service continental breakfast but wow so much more - a breakfast fit for a king and a few little extra hot items. A lovely start to each day, stay and relax and you won't be disappointed.

  • Judy was very quick to respond to my request to stay and answered my questions quickly prior to my arrival. Her house and garden are beautiful - I spent 2 days photographing at Petworth Estate and the location of Ashurst Farm House was perfect. Judy provided a warm welcome, amazing breakfasts, was helpful & friendly. Will definitely stay at Ashurst Farm House again on my next planned visit to Goodwood.

  • Our stay at this cottage was fantastic. The house itself is beautiful, clean, smart, big and welcoming. Judy as a host was lovely and so hospitable. She cooked breakfast every morning and it was delicious and very generous and went above and beyond what we were expecting! We would highly recommend this as an air b'n'b for both families and adults. It was like staying in a high end hotel but more comfortable! Thank you very much Judy- we hope to see you again soon!

  • Judy was a fantastic host, we were warmly welcomed with a cup of tea and plenty of ideas and recommendations for our stay. • Claudia is a fantastic host. I stayed here whilst working at Goodwood which meant a very late arrival and some ant-social hours but Claudia wasn't phased at all and accommodated every request. She has done a superb job of renovating a beautiful cottage in a sublime rural setting and I look forward to the opportunity to visit again soon.

  • This is a very nice Airbnb and I recommend it highly! Claudia was super-easy to communicate with before, during and after the stay, and was kind enough to pick me up when I walked down from the South Downs Way, which is only a mile or two from the house. Claudia and her husband did everything to make me feel at home and are a very charming couple. The room was comfortable, well-kept and very clean. I would gladly stay again!

  • From beginning to end, we couldn't fault our stay. I'd booked the cabin with my boyfriend for a night away for my birthday. We were so surprised to find processo & chocolates on arrival, heating switched on & a personalized message on the chalk board in the main living area. The lights were switched on & it felt extremely cosy. We were keen to explore the surrounding area & James & Misty had kindly left a welcome guide which included a few local routes which we used during our stay. We can't recommend this place enough & we can't wait to book again in the summer time! Thankyou for a lovely stay!

  • Great big interesting house to stay in - perfect for families.

    Katie2017-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time at Michelle's house which is really quite special. The bedrooms were particularly spacious and comfortable and the whole place was very tidy and clean. We felt right at home straight away. Our only minor gripes were that we weren't allowed to have an open fire, which, in the middle of November was a bit of a shame, especially as this is not included in the house rules. The second draw back is that the house is on a main, busy road (making one of the bedrooms a little noisy) which we felt wasn't reflected in the photography. Again, it didn't prevent what was overall a great experience, I just think it's something that should be flagged up on the listing. In general, we loved our stay and Michelle was a friendly and accommodating host. Definitely recommend.

    Ellie2015-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • The house lived up to the lovely pictures and Michelle was a great host - very helpful in regards to any questions I had about the house and the surrounding area. I booked the house for my sister's hen party. We're all a little older so it was the perfect getaway as a house in the countryside to relax for a few days. We visited Upperton vineyard for a tour (highly recommend this). It's only about a 10 minute drive from the house. The Horsegauards pub at Tilington is also well worth a visit. Overall, we had a great stay. It's a fab house in a great spot, with a great host. Enjoy!

    Charlotte2015-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • Cannot recommend this listing enough. It is a beautiful house in a quaint little village. We were 11 adults staying there for a friends wedding down the road and it was perfect. We all had ample room, very comfortable beds and everything was very clean. It is a very quirky old house, with different levels and doors leading everywhere which we all loved. The kitchen is fantastic for sociable cooking, and the weather was nice so we sat outside in the lovely garden too. Michelle was fantastic with organising arrival and contact throughout for any of our questions, the place was exactly as described, if not better.

    Heather2015-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Michelle was an amazing host. She answered all my questions quickly and provided great local information. We hired the house for a hen weekend and the space was ideal. Lovely communal areas with a great conservatory that can easily seat 12 round a table. The bedrooms were all very comfortable, clean, well decorated and enough bathrooms to keep all happy. We had a fantastic weekend and would highly recommend the venue.

    Beth2016-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • The house and the location are great - and its an easy weekend getaway from London. Communication with Michelle prior to our stay was straightforward and she was quick to respond. We were disappointed however with the level of cleanliness - the bins had been left out, work surfaces hadn't been wiped down properly. Michelle assures me that the cleaners usually leave the place in immaculate condition so not sure what had happened prior to our stay. The 12th bed wasn't assembled and made up either. It was a shame as without these issues the house would have been perfect.

  • We were a group of 7 adults, 5 children and 4 dogs and were very pleased when we got to Michelle's lovely and quirky country house. It has lots of rooms and two staircases with many nooks and crannies. The kids loved it and spent hours exploring and playing hide and seek. There is a nice garden which is mostly enclosed so the dogs also had a great time. Michelle herself was a great host, friendly and helpful. It's an old house with character and quirks but that is the charm of the place. And the area is beautiful. Would definitely stay here again.

  • A great house and a great host! Mill house is very spacious and was perfect for a weekend away for our group of 12 people. The kitchen was well setup and ideal for cooking for a large group. The house was clean and very comfortable. Michelle was a great host and was very fast to respond to any questions. Can highly recommend.

  • A typical, traditional english country pile and a very charming host. Fantastically quiet and lovely garden. Virginia provided us with a list of great restaurants nearby , she managed to secure a table for us at a drop of a hat during the uber busy Good Wood Revival Festival.

  • Every review so far was spot on... Virginia greeted us with a smile and helped us feel at ease in her house. Our en-suite bedrooms were well appointed and spotlessly clean and tidy. We had the use of the tasteful drawing room. We'd bought some champagne to celebrate a birthday and Virginia chilled it for us and bought out some glasses and nibbles. Virginia's morning spread sets you up for the day. Something for everybody. (Don't pass up on the cooked breakfast) The house (with an interesting past..) is ideally situated for exploring the Downs. It's close to Goodwood and a couple of miles from the reason we stayed, the Nyetimber vinyard. There's even a friendly locals pub at the end of the road. All in all we had a five star weekend and would have no hesitation in recommending this gem of a place. Thank you.

  • Virginia's home is absolutely stunning. The views are breath-taking and the surroundings are even more gorgeous than the photos. The rooms are very cosy, spacious, clean and comfortable and Virginia made us feel welcomed straight away. Breakfast certainly lived up to the great reviews I had read here beforehand. We had a really lovely long weekend here and would very much recommend. We were even able to share it with our dogs, which was a first for us! Thank you Virginia!

  • Virginia is a very welcoming host, and our family had a lovely nights stay in her wonderful house. The bedroom and bathroom were both large, and immaculate. Virginia even provided some toys for our 3 year old son to play with in the room, which were greatly appreciated. Breakfast was plentiful. Highly recommended.

  • Virginia has been the most wonderful host to us! Her house is stunning in every way, very clean and comfortable. We couldn't recommend her enough!!

  • This was our first airbnb experience & all I can say is WOW!! From booking the communication was brill & on arrival we were warmly greeted with a smile. This is a wonderful place so serene & peaceful with beautiful decor & space. We had both rooms & were left to our own devices which was great. Virginia recommended the Angel at Petworth which was good & gave us a key & electronic gate remote on return . We had a peaceful nights sleep aided by the quietness of the area, the beautiful fresh bedding on the HUGE beds!! & blackout curtains. Tea, fresh coffee & cafetière,biscuits & bottled water was left for us in the rooms along with lovely bathroom products to use all top quality. Breakfast was just as stunning in the gorgeous dining room. Fresh loafs white & granary to toast, fresh fruit, berries & natural yoghurt, a good selection of cereal & granolas, & a great selection of homemade jams & marmalades, peanut butter, marmite, honey & golden syrup to name a few on the table PLUS a full English not huge but just right & fresh! Washed down with coffee, tea of fresh orange juice! A great way to start the day! We had a walk round the gardens to say good morning to the gorgeous alpacas before leaving for Goodwood. A fantastic introduction to airbnb & one of the best overnight stays we've had ! Thankyou so much Virginia for your professional & friendly hospitality we will be back x

The Barn at Banks Cottage is located at the edge of Pulborough Brooks, with misty atmospheric dawns in winter to the bright blossoming of spring through to sun drenched summer – there is no season this cottage can’t be enjoyed in. The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds works tirelessly to preserve our beautiful indigenous wildlife, and there is nowhere better from which to admire their work. Relax on the patio with a pair of binoculars and a cup of coffee, or take a lengthy amble around the water’s edge to see what birdsong you can identify. With the local pub a pleasant 20 minute walk away, pop out for lunch or enjoy a hearty dinner in the evening. If history is more your thing, then Parham Estate and Gardens is nearby where you can explore the incredible Elizabethan home and grounds. With plenty of events throughout Easter and summer, it is well worth seeing what might be on at your time of visit. The accommodation itself has been renovated to a fantastic standard, with a luxurious kitchen, artistic log burning stove and two very comfortable bedrooms. It is perfectly cosy in winter and has a pretty patio garden to be enjoyed in summer.
There is a pub a pleasant 20 minute walk along the reserve, shops and amenities in Pulborough or slightly further afield in the town of Storrington.
  • A wonderful cottage. Beautiful location, extremely well equipped, very welcoming host. We had a great weekend and hope to return soon.

'Maggie's Hut' is a cosy shepherd's hut set in a beautiful English garden. It has a comfortable double bed and a woodburning stove for colder winter nights. The Swan Inn, a family run 15th century pub is a short stroll away. Perfectly located for the South Downs National Park. Also near Goodwood for the Festival of Speed & Revival, and for exploring Chichester, Petworth & Arundel. Separate outdoor hot shower (* see note below) and 'Eco' composting loo are adjacent to the hut.
Maggie's Hut provides the venue for a perfect getaway, set within a pretty garden in the downland village of Fittleworth. It is within a short stroll (literally 2 minutes!) of a lovely 15th Century pub, The Swan Inn, which serves fine ales and home-cooked food. There are other very good pubs within a short drive or a good walk. It is extremely cosy and warm in the winter whilst also managing to stay cool at the height of the summer, shaded by the surrounding trees. There is a very comfortable double bed with crisp cotton sheets, a cosy duvet, pillows and luxurious sheepskins. 'The Bamboo Loo' is a separate outdoor 'eco' composting toilet adjacent to the hut. There is also a private outdoor gas shower with hot running water. Towels, shampoo and shower gel are provided. The hut has a small wood-burner. We will give you enough kindling and logs to keep a cosy fire going for those cooler evenings and mornings. There is all you need to make cups of tea (herbal teas are also provided) or enjoy a cup of our own delicious ground coffee, 'Maggie's Hut Blend', which has been especially created for us by our next door neighbours at The Honeybee Coffee Roastery (a decaffeinated blend is available on request, in advance). You will find wine glasses, tumblers, plates, bowls, mugs and cutlery. There is a mini fridge, kettle and a toaster with an egg boiling attachment. A basket of delicious breakfast goodies (typically croissants, homemade bread, fruit and yoghurt) will be delivered to you in the morning. Hopefully the weather will be good enough for you to eat outside but if not, there is a fold-down table and chairs within the hut. Maggie's Hut also has mains electric and two double power sockets. Alternatively, you may shelter in our rustic bothy (see photos) which also has a woodburner for extra warmth. The bothy (part open sided) has been constructed from recycled materials by ourselves. It is a great place to shelter and can also sleep up to 2 people. Please bring sleeping bags and pillows. £20 per head extra per night including breakfast, payable on arrival. Secure parking available in our private driveway. There is also undercover parking for an open top car or motorbikes.
There is plenty to do and see in the area, and something for everyone! There are some lovely walks straight from the front door, and slightly further afield lie the beautiful South Downs with the well known walkway and many other beautiful routes. Fittleworth itself sits within the South Downs National Park and boasts two commons. We have Hesworth Common, which is a 5 minute walk from the Hut and is an Area of Natural Outstanding Beauty. If you walk to the trig point at the top you will be rewarded with beautiful far reaching views to the Downs and on a clear day you may even see the sea! Fittleworth Common is a 10 minute walk away and is smaller and quieter (known mainly to the 'locals') than Hesworth but also has lovely views and a collection of unusual trees. The Lord's Piece at Coates Common (2 miles): A beautiful piece of parkland which looks like a piece of the New Forest that has been transported to West Sussex. There is no village grocery shop at present (just an antique shop!), although there is one in the pipeline, due for completion August 2018. The nearest shop is Charlie's Farm Shop (3.4miles) and in Pulborough (3.5 miles) you will find a Tesco and a Sainsbury's. The historic towns of Petworth, Arundel and Chichester are all within striking distance. We are also conveniently located for Goodwood with its very popular Festival of Speed and Revival Meeting. Other places of interest: Petworth House and Park (3.7 miles): Magnificent National Trust House set in a beautiful 700 acre deer park landscaped by 'Capability' Brown and immortalized in Turner's paintings. The nearby town of Petworth is worth a visit too for mooch about the shops (there are an abundance of antique shops), and there are a variety of good places to eat and drink. Amberley (6.2 miles): is one of the most attractive of all downland villages. It has a lovely setting; on the east side there is the scarp slope of the Downs, rising up to Amberley Mount with a steep climb up to the South Downs Way . On the south and west sides of Amberley there's the atmospheric River Arun and the wild brooks. The village has its own Castle, and although it's in use as a hotel and wedding venue rather than a good old-fashioned historic monument the castle is extremely atmospheric. Non-guests of the hotel can walk around the back of the Amberley Castle on their way into Amberley Swamp. Amberley Wildbrooks Nature reserve (3.6 miles): A great haven for birdlife in winter. Amberley Working Museum (5.4 miles):This is an interesting use of an old chalk pit above the railway station - it's now home to a treasure horde of old agricultural and industrial machinery, nearly all of it still functioning. Arundel Castle (8 miles): Founded at the end of the 11th Century, it has been the family home of the Dukes of Norfolk and their ancestors for nearly 1000 years. Set high on a hill in West Sussex, this great Castle commands the landscape with magnificent views across the South Downs and the River Arun. Parham House and Gardens (5.8 miles): (please note it is closed during the winter months, re-opening on Easter Sunday 2017) Parham is one of the country’s finest Elizabethan Houses, complete with a Great Hall and Long Gallery. The Gardens consist of beautiful Pleasure Grounds and a four-acre Walled Garden. There are stunning herbaceous borders, a glasshouse, vegetable garden, orchard and a 1920s Wendy House. They featured in The Guardian’s “10 best gardens to visit this summer” The Weald and Downland Open Air Museum (14.7 miles): Historic houses and agricultural buildings dating from the 13th century to victorian times, rescued from destruction and rebuilt in a magnificent parkland setting. West Dean Gardens (15.6 miles): Nestled at the foot of the South Downs, West Dean is one of the greatest restored gardens open to the public today. Visitors can explore a wide range of features from surreal trees to the restored walled garden. Goodwood: House, Hotel, Race Course, Motor Circuit and Aerodrome all within approximately 15 miles of Maggie's Hut and are worth a visit. The Aero Club cafe is open to the public and very close to the airfield and motor circuit so you can watch the comings and goings. Cass Sculpture Foundation (12.1 miles): Visitors are welcome to explore the tranquil 26-acre site, which contain over 50 large-scale, contemporary sculptures and two indoor gallery spaces. The organisation commissions new works and curates dynamic exhibitions every year, featuring some of the most exciting artists working in sculpture today, all within a beautiful country setting. Vineyards: If wine is your thing.... we are lucky enough to have several Vineyards very close by. Most offer visits and tours (seasonal April/May to October) but DO CHECK WEBSITES for opening times and availability as some are more limited than others and often get booked up quickly! Stopham Vineyard: (1 mile) English still and sparkling wines on our doorstep! You can even take a lovely cross country walk from to get there. Tours and visits available. You can include lunch at the White Hart Pub, situated on the river. Do check opening times. Nutbourne Vineyard: (6 miles). A family run winery, in a lovely setting that you can visit free of charge and simply enjoy the surroundings. Lovely lake and alpacas! You can also take a picnic to enjoy in the grounds. Tours available for booking too (limited days - check website in advance). Upperton: (5 miles) near Tillington (a picturesque village with a fabulous pub, The Horseguards Inn) A vineyard in another wonderful setting. You can enjoy a glass of sparkling wine on the terrace overlooking the Downs. Tinwood, nr Chichester (13 miles) More delicious sparkling wine to sample at the foot of the Downs. Tours bookable in advance. Langham Brewey, Lodsworth (7miles) An award winning micro brewery. Brewery Tours available. Once again check website for details of booking etc. Bignor Roman Villa (4.4 miles) is the stunning remains of a Roman home with world-class mosaic floors in a spectacular Downland setting. Learn why the Roman owners chose to develop such a magnificent settlement at Bignor in the 3rd Century AD and how they acquired wealth from its location. Open 7 days a week: 1st March – 31st October From 10am until 5pm (last admission 4pm).
  • Me and my boyfriend stayed in Maggie's for one night and we are so glad we came here. The hut and the area are amazing! Shirley and Charles were both very welcoming and gave us some good advice about walks in the local area. They also provided us with lovely hot croissants and delicious fresh bread in the morning. We loved it! Other than that they left us to it but were available if we had any questions. The hut itself is so charming and done up to a very high standard. We slept really well too as the bed is super comfy! It actually exceeded our expectations from looking at the pictures. It is in their garden, but well hidden behind bamboo so still felt very private. Initially we were worried that it might be too cold being November but it was so cosy and warm with the log burner. We even had to open the windows as it was so warm! They are also minutes away from a pub which was a big win for us after a long walk and great if you don't have a car. We got the train to from London to Pulborough and then walked there which was lovely. It's brilliant for a quick and easy escape to the countryside. Thanks so much! Louise and Joe

  • We were looking to get away from the city for a quiet weekend, and we got even more than we were hoping for. With just an hours drive out of London, we got to the hut in good time, and had a very warm welcome. If there was anything we needed - it had already been catered for. The log fire in the cabin was such a nice touch too!! It made for a super cosy weekend, not to mention the breakfast hamper too..freshly baked bread, brought to you in the morning in a cute little hamper with lots of extra additions (without wanted to spoil it all for you)..such an amazing way to start the day! Some really great walks in the surrounding areas too! Thank you so much for an unforgettable stay...will definitely be coming back xx

  • What a great find - we had an incredibly relaxing weekend. Shirley and Charles were really helpful and had great recommendations for walks in the area. We loved breakfast in a basket, waking up to bird song, the amazing (hot!) outdoor shower, the fire and the beautiful garden - thank you!

    Sarah2017-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • Charles and Shirley are superhosts in the making! Arrival was simple and they made us feel so welcome, they'd even got the fire going for us which made the hut the most cosy place in the entire world. The attention to detail, not only in the hut but the other facilities, is incredible, everything just works and the essentials (towels, showers stuff, milk, tea coffee etc.) are all waiting for you. The local area has plenty to give and Charles offered some great advice for a walk which was beautiful. Don't let the outdoor facilities put you off, they are novel and work just as good if not better than other facilities. Charles and Shirley will look after you for sure!

  • We loved sitting on the patio listening to hundreds of birds including a cuckoo. What a tranquil and lovely setting. Sarah made us feel very welcome and we appreciated the attractive and generous continental breakfast provided daily. We were very comfortable. The village is easily accessible to some great places to visit: Parham House and Gardens, The Weald and Downland Open Air Museum, Arundel Wetland Centre, Arundel Castle, Westdean Gardens, and many others we did not have time for. The drives across the downs and valleys were stunning.

  • We had a wonderful, relaxing stay at Short's Farm. The location is stunning; a bucolic paradise with easy access to the South Downs Way. We got a lot of hiking in! Accommodation was super, too- we slept like logs. Sarah herself is one of the most friendly and welcoming hosts I've ever met; she made us both feel very comfortable. Breakfast was provided each morning, too, and was a wonderful bonus one does not usually expect when renting an annex. We will definitely return. Thank you Sarah for making our mini break possible!

  • Very warm and friendly people. Beautiful house and even more beautiful garden. Sleeping in the comfortable bed, we only heard an owl in the night. At morning we got a big and healthy breakfast, with fresh orange juice, lovely warm croissants etc. Pub The Rising Sun is also recommendable for it's ambiance and good food. Don't go there, we want to keep the place for ourselves!!! :-)

  • This was a really nice stay, with a nice healthy continental breakfast. Sarah and John were very friendly and accommodating but gave us plenty of our own space. The property is lovely and the village very nice with a superb local gastro pub. We also would recommend a day trip to Arundel, lovely place. Taxis at train times to/from Pulborough are like Hen's teeth so I'd recommend booking well in advance as it's a very long walk especially with luggage.

A convenient location in a quiet village in the heart of the South Downs, near Petworth, Arundel, Chichester and Goodwood. Lots of lovely walks, historic houses to visit, theatre and the best pubs in Sussex.
Our village is a very quiet area but very well connected. The train station is 4 minutes away by car and supermarkets (Tesco, Sainsburys) are only a 5 minutes drive. Our drive will fit around 3 cars and the access is easy. I would be happy to give you any special information and tips if you text me while you are in the house!
  • The house is incredible, a true English family farm house. Patricia was an amazing host and went above and beyond the call of duty. We were in town for a wedding but regret not being able to stay longer and explore the local area. Amazing Air BnB experience- highly recommend!

Her house is a real home-from-home; had everything we needed for our family group from wifi to Skysports, a travel cot to bath toys, a deep bath, hot showers, comfortable beds and plenty of seating in the sitting room. This is a modern coach house which is tastefully furnished with contempory furniture. It has a large open plan living area with high ceilings giving a feeling of space. It is situated on a small modern, secluded development, close to ameneties.

  • Laurence's flat is an excellent base and has everything you could ask for in terms of facilities; it is also absolutely spotless. It is extremely light and airy and you have a real feeling of space. Would happily stay there again if in the area

    dan2016-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • We received the warmest of welcomes at the coach house. Laurence is caring, friendly and helpful. The coach house itself is perfect for us. It's a stunning property and very spacious, has the comfiest sofa you find it hard to remove yourself. There is also a lovely shower and the bed is comfortable plus 2 bathrooms. The kitchen is extremely well equipped and the Sainsburys opposite (and cash machine) provided plenty to cook. On this trip we really were looking to hide away from the world and get away from it all and we were not disappointed although you're a short drive from Brighton, Worthing and Chichester of course. Pulborough itself is very pretty and quaint and there are some nice pubs around the area. The White Hart with its ancient stone bridge and riverside seating was lovely. I think we found our ideal stay at the coach house and if we're lucky enough that it's free we hope to return in a few weeks.

Pulborough station is not far and so using train is choice to discover hidden gems in West Sussex. Arundel castle garden was lovely. This flat offers a good walking holiday although having a car would be convenient. We had a lovely time in Laurence's flat.

Very comfortable bed, which is a lot coming from someone who is 7 months pregnant and struggling to sleep! Great communication/directions provided by Laurence, if I am ever in the area again I would stay here again in a heart beat. Thank you very much. Highly Recommended.

  • My friend and I had a relaxed and comfortable stay at Amanda's. I really appreciated her flexibility as we were arriving from two different directions, one on train and one on bike - it was great to be picked up from the station. I immediately felt very welcome and liked the little touches in the room: choccies, water, tea. The beds are very comfortable. Also enjoyed eating at the Two Swans pub down the road - friendly service and tasty food. Couldn't recommend the whole stay highly enough and will go back when I get the chance.

  • This was a very comfortable twin room in a warm and welcoming home. Even nicer than the pictures - we had a great night's sleep.

  • Amanda is the best host! She was really tentative to all of our needs and always made sure we were comfortable. It was super difficult getting around without a rental car but she even offered to drive us places for a reasonable price. It was a wonderful experience!

  • Our stay typified how amazing airbnb is. The night before a wedding my wife and I decided that due to percistent man flue we should not camp after reception. we desperately needed a place to stay in this very rural setting. There were no hotels nearby, or pubs with rooms. But airbnb showed a charming room 5 mins drive from the reception party! Feeling it was a long shot. We messaged Amanda explaining our situation. She replied within minutes and we booked. Amanda kindly allowed us to checking early so we could do so between the church ceremony and the reception. She then even offered to be our taxi. 16 hours after deciding not to camp we met Amanda and picked up the keys. Amazing. Amanda is also one of the nicest people you will ever meet. She has the kindest heart and will do anything to ensure you have the best of stays. My wife and I had the lovely stay and breakfast and my man flue seems to be clearing. Thank you Amanda and thank you airbnb.

  • Amanda was a very friendly, helpful and welcoming hostess. She was interesting to talk to, willingly dropped us at our friends on the last day and deserves to do well. The WiFi was very good, which is important these days. There were apples on the last morning, which was great.

  • Amanda is a very hospitable host. She makes you feel very welcome. We were a bit disappointed about the facilities because had expected the room to be more spacious and we didn't know we had to share the bathroom. But we really loved the surroundings.

  • We staying in Amanda's charming house in order to attend a wedding at the Fitzroy Barn. Amanda was very friendly and welcoming and we had a comfortable stay and a lovely breakfast. We wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

  • In short, as I stayed there for less than 18hrs...this place is a wonder. so beautiful and relaxing. The view is the best view you can see in Sussex...I know, I grew up there. Claire is a lovely lady, who made me feel really welcome and is full of tips and knowledge if you were to stay longer...which I wish I could have. I was only there briefly for a work trip nearby, but I would have stayed for a mother week if I could. Everything about this stay was fantastic...I'm already thinking/planning when I can get back there. Thank you Claire...

  • We had a wonderful short stay at Claire's beautiful home. Waking up in the morning to the view of the South Downs was absolutely perfect. With lots of places to visit - as well as those suggested by Claire, there was plenty to do in the local area! Thank you!

A warm ,relaxed, loved and lived in creative home that is just that little bit different. our glorious fields are there to be enjoyed and the above ground pool My place is close to parks, art and culture, restaurants and dining, and great views. You’ll love my place because of the ambiance, the outdoors space, the neighbourhood, and the light. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, families (with kids), and furry friends (pets).
My home is a relaxed and creative home, built in 1919 so it has character, with the added bonus of an above ground swimming pool and our fields at the back of the house with gorgeous walks through direct access, badminton and tennis on the field and breakfast picnics if desired . there is a full size trampoline too.
I am blessed with the most wonderful community at the top of tripp hill, where as neighbours we will often meet on our field. I couldn't ask for a more friendly and supportive network and I am sure you will find that too. the village of fittleworth is blessed with outstanding beauty , walks and a lovely pub. arundel ,chichester .goodwood are all within 20 mins drive with all the fabulous amenities and heritage on offer. there is no shop in the village but a great farms shop 5 mins away.
  • We booked with Instant Book, though this isn't really an instant book place as Amanda wasn't sure we could stay but nevertheless thankfully made the room available. It's very much her own house full of her own stuff. The setting is lovely backing into a nice woodland behind the row of houses, and the swimming pool is great. The house is more colourful than minimal and has some eclectic artefacts. We didn't get to meet Amanda.

  • Very welcoming, on-the-ball host and a lovely place. The field out the back with a badminton net was a nice surprise and I just wish we could have stayed longer!

    Katherine2016-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • It was a real pleasure staying in Amanda's home, and her hospitality and welcome were outstanding. Playing badminton in the field out back was a highlight and shame we had no time to use the pool which looked like a great way to relax. We were very comfortable and left with beaming smiles on our faces.

  • Absolutely stunning. Such a beautiful house with breath-taking views. We were two families and the house was so suitable for us - lots of areas in the house where we could relax and spend time together. Clean, comfortable and very well equipped. Lots of books everywhere, games, binoculars which is just perfect for a family with lots of different interests. Beautiful location too and we wandered out to Amberley Castle, had lunch at a local riverside pub and walked around lots. A very picturesque village. We will be back! Laura is so accommodating and very friendly. Extremely responsive and friendly - a perfect host that thought of everything.

  • What an amazing place, thank you for having us. The downstairs space is awesome, the panoramic view over the South Downs is breathtaking, the ability to open the bifold doors out to to the balcony is just perfect. House is well stocked, well appointed and although we didn't meet Laura, she seemed lovely during the contact we had. The village has a small but well stocked store (very quaint), tea rooms serving drinks and huge cakes and a pub 100 yards down the road. We visited all of these, and all we're great! All in all, a lovely stay. Thank you Laura

The barn is comfortable and well equipped, quiet and dog friendly so even the spaniel had a great weekend! There are some very lovely walks nearby. We can definitely recommend the Swan Inn in Fittleworth (within walking distance) and for a special meal the Leconfield in Petworth is highly recommended. We'd love to come back later in the year as there is so much to do in this area.

Visit the Meynell family property, steeped in literary history, set in glorious grounds at the foot of the South Downs in the South Downs National Park. You will have a double bedroom with a kitchen to make tea and prepare breakfast and basic meals, bathroom, and living space. The grounds are stunning, with access to a tennis court, a croquet lawn and gardens. Walks including the South Downs Way are very close.

  • This was my second visit and I already feel like part of the family here. It is so relaxed and welcoming, I had a beautiful old bedroom with beamed ceilings and a four poster bed, but also the use of my own sitting room and kitchen and was able to enjoy the huge gardens which was a joy after a day at work. Claudia is an expert host and everything was as I hoped. Thank you!

Thatched Cottage Annex has been newly converted to a very high standard and offers comfortable self catering accommodation. It is set in two and a half acres of private paddocks and woodland within the South Downs National park and offers easy access to Goodwood Race course, the beautiful villages of Petworth, Midhurst and Arundel and is only 15 miles from the coast. We are pleased to offer private off road parking behind electric gates. You also have your own private dog friendly garden which can be used for Al Fresco dining as it has a BBQ, a large comfortable double bedroom with solid oak flooring, a fully equipped kitchen complete with hob, microwave/oven/grill and fridge, a wetroom walk in shower with underfloor heating and a lovely seating area with leather chairs sky TV and internet access. We can also arrange bikes if required. A mile down the road is Charlie's Farm shop which stocks all their own produce and also provides a selection of wines. Nearby there are numerous cycle paths, walks and golf courses.. We recommend a car but there are a large number of local country pubs within a 3 mile radius that offer a wide varity of menus. Please note: We are now pleased to be able to offer 'Elderflower', our newly acquired Shepherds Hut as an alternative to the annex or to compliment it if four person accommodation is required. The Shepherds Hut is located 50m from the annex, within the grounds of Thatched Cottage. It is also listed on this website.
  • This is a perfect location for a few days exploring West Sussex. Whilst this is a small studio style accommodation, it had all we needed for 4 nights comfortable stay. The kitchen area is well equipped with everything we needed with the possible exception of a freezer compartment to the fridge. The bed is comfortable, and the walk in shower one of the best we've experienced anywhere. There is a lawned garden area with table, chairs and sun shade for the exclusive use of guests, and also the loan of 2 bikes ( mountain bikes with 18 gears), complete with helmets and emergency tool kit. Ideal for cycling the local network of quiet country lanes. We had a great 4 days and would be very happy to return.

  • Sue and Tim made us feel very welcome from the start by meeting us when we arrived and explaining everything to us. The accommodation was everything and more that we expected, it also had the kitchen essentials like tea, coffee, sugar and cleaning materials provided. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom and kitchen were clean and perfect for our stay. Sue and Tim recommended a lovely pub for dinner and a close quiet beach for us to take our dog. Luckily the weather was just perfect, so we made good use of the beautiful garden which had a gas BBQ and a fruiting plum tree. We will definitely stay there again when we come back to stay in that part of the country. Thanks again Sue and Tim

  • We had a great 2 night stay at Sue's annex in Bury. The annex was very nice, comfortable and had everything you needed. The bathroom was lovely and the shower was amazing, better than a 5 star hotel, really powerful and hot. The annex was in a great location, close to some great towns such as Arundel, Chichester and close to South Downs. The only negative is that the annex is close to a fairly busy road so you do get a bit of passing noise, other than that it was perfect and Sue and Tim were great hosts and gave us lots of advise about the area. Thanks Sue, we had a lovely time.

    Tom2015-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • one word to describe this annex? WOW! we had a great time staying here. the place is small, but very comfortable, and very modern. i could even watch the f1 race on SKY! we only saw the host at arrival, but it felt like they were only a shout/phonecall away if we needed anything. The only thing that kind of bothered me, was the busy road not too far off the property. If you are not used to it, it sometimes can be a bit of a peace killer. Overall, a great place, i would recommend everyone to stay here if you are in the area. Thanks Sue and Tim, for a great stay!

  • We had a lovely stay in the Annex, it lived up to it's photos & other reviews. Sue & Tim were great hosts & appear to have thought of everything in setting up the Annex. Our 1st experience with Airbnb & extremely positive! Our dog Pixie had a great time too.

    Katie2015-04-06T00:00:00Z
  • Me and my husband had a lovely time in the cottage at Sue and Tim's. They were excellent hosts, giving us recommendations for places/pubs to walk to, leaving wine outside our door as we didn't have a car to go to the shop, Sue even picked us up and dropped us off at the train station. They were A+. The cottage itself was perfect; clean, tidy, decorated in a lovely way. Underfloor heating was A+ in the bathroom! I would certainly go back again. For those who don't have a car, the recommendation to have one on the profile of the cottage is right on - if we had been there any longer we would have needed one!

The Hut is only ever occupied by your friends or family as part of your Barn House booking (it is not separately occupied). The shepherd's hut has electricity and heating in winter. Babies are very welcome. We have a travel cot, mattress and blankets if needed. Children are welcome but the space isn't toddler/small child friendly. There are no stair gates & there is a high outside retaining wall off the terrace so you would need to be very watchful of toddlers or young children. You'll all wake up to views over private woodland and fields. You have a private outdoor terrace with outdoor table and chairs where you can enjoy your morning coffee, a BBQ (just ask) or evening drinks including an outdoor wood burner to keep you company on chillier evenings or mornings. The property is set opposite some of England's oldest beech forest - once the hunting ground of Henry VIII - with fantastic footpaths and bridleways for walking and cycling. We keep the kitchen stocked with essentials including ground coffee, teas, milk and breakfast basics.
The Barn House & Hut is set on a quiet rural road, half-way between the little villages of Wisborough Green & Fittleworth. Glorious food.... We have some fantastic pubs nearby including the Three Crowns in Wisborough Green, the Horse Guards in Tillington, and the Bat & Ball in Wisborough Green also. Further afield we highly recommend The George at Burpham - a drive which will take you past Arundel Castle and Cathedral. For those who like to mix a weekend break with fine dining we recommend you book a table at Tom Seller's 'Lickfold Inn' - a 400-year old pub recently restored. Good for Goodwood.... We are only 30-40 minutes drive to Goodwood for horse-racing, Goodwood Revival and the Festival of Speed. We are 5 minute's drive from the beautiful village of Petworth which is famous for its antique stores and the Capability Brown-designed landscape at Petworth House & Park. Autumn... Our property is set in the middle of three beautiful wooded estates so Autumn is the perfect time to visit if you want to see woodland colour. Summer... The swimming beaches of Littlehampton and Climping (where the locals swim) are only 25 minutes away. The famous white sand beaches of East and West Wittering beaches an hour away. We are situated near the Arun river for those who like wild swimming or canoeing. The South Downs... Our property is set within the South Downs National Park with its beautiful network of footpaths and bridleways. From your front door we have walks which meander through ancient woodland, water meadows, farmland, tiny villages and past vineyards. A 10 minute drive takes you to the top of Bignor Hill with outstanding long-distance walking, cycling or horse-riding including the South Downs Way.
  • A perfect base for exploring the South Downs. Thanks Katherine and Simon!

  • The barn was absolutely lovely and made for the perfect retreat. Our hosts were very welcoming and helpful. Great trip.

  • This was the perfect location for a extended holiday in the countryside. Not to far from London and totally secluded. We were a short drive from many different villages and lovely pubs. Katherine is an informative host and gave us a long list of ideas of where to go and where to eat. The communication prior to our stay was second to none. I would recommend Katherine's place for those who want to escape to the country.

    Jeremy2017-04-18T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect from start to finish, Kathrine was a great host and made us feel very welcome. The photos do not do the barn justice, has everything you need to relax. The scenery is beautiful and the area is extremely quiet. We also saw some dear which was an added bonus ! Wouldn't think twice about rebooking hopefully we will in the near future. Highly recommended!! Kind Regards Jamie & Sarah

  • We had a wonderful time in Katherine's barn; she was so welcoming and the barn was immaculate and very comfortable. It had all the extras to make for a special stay including a wood burning stove outside to make the most of the beautiful surroundings. It was a perfect escape from city life and I would highly recommend staying there.

  • Having to find temporary accommodation for a month is always stressful but we really did hit the jackpot finding the Barn. Beautiful accommodation, stunning location and the most welcoming hosts we couldn't recommend the barn highly enough. From beautiful views out the windows, complete peace at night and sitting in front of the chimenea at night with a wine it really is a simply stunning place to relax and unwind. We had the issue of taking 2 young cats with us and by the end we struggled to drag them away, honestly it is perfect for pets. Was the perfect remedy for lifes stresses .

  • We had a lovely stay in the Barn House. It was perfect and the hosts were extremely friendly and welcoming. I would definitely stay there again, I just hope it could be for longer next time. Highly recommend it!

  • A beautiful home in the most beautiful countryside! This is the perfect place to get away from it all. On a quiet country road, it is surrounded by fields and woods (with public footpaths so there is loads to explore). A car would be needed for getting around. The barn had everything you could possibly want, was so clean and everything was really high spec. Lovely pubs in the area for dinner and drinks. Would highly recommend!

Our apartment offers the perfect weekend break or holiday. Soak up the peace and quiet, enjoy the majestic beech woods, relax surrounded by nature! Set within the South Downs National Park and only 50 miles from London
The apartment is attached to our C18th farm cottage where we live. We are located along a secluded country lane nestled to the hillside in the tiny hamlet of Bedham. Overlooking one of the oldest woodlands in South-East England, it is a perfect rural retreat, surrounded by majestic trees and an abundance of wildlife that can be enjoyed at all times of the year. The apartment is self-contained on two levels with its own entrance. It has wood-panelled walls and solid oak floors throughout and the decoration is highly personalised with a mixture of antique and contemporary furniture. The walls are covered in art and there is a diverse selection of books, journals, boardgames and toys as well as a 50" smart TV, DVD and Wi-fi. The lower floor is an open plan living space that has a well equipped kitchen, dining area and a comfortable lounge with a large picture window overlooking the woodlands. The back door leads out from the kitchen to a paved patio with table and chairs set under a glass roof and a BBQ that is ideal for alfresco meals. A small banked garden surrounding the patio provides complete privacy and in Springtime is full of wild flowers. Another paved terrace has a chiminea that can be lit on chilly evenings to provide a little warmth whilst listening to the owls at dusk. Upstairs is a delightfully light and airy bedroom with an en suite bathroom that has an excellent power shower. French doors lead onto a large roof terrace overlooking a semi wild garden and the woods beyond. This makes a superb spot for breakfast in the summer or evening drinks as the light fades.
We are surrounded by ancient woods within the South Downs National Park and under the protection of both the Woodland Trust and the Sussex Wildlife Trust. We are also close to the South Downs Way. So for the nature lover, you can immerse yourself all year round; from the spectacle of bluebells in Spring to mushroom foraging in Autumn, from the incredible ‘dawn chorus’ of Summer to bracing Winter walks. Historic towns: Petworth is our nearest town 3 miles way. It is a picturesque market town known for antique shops. Here you can find lovely coffee shops and deli's. Petworth House and Park owned by the National Trust is famous for its collection of Turner paintings and wonderful deer park designed by Capability Brown. The music festival in the summer is well worth a visit. Arundel is 8 miles to the south with its spectacular Castle and gardens overlooking the river Arun and the famous Wetland Centre founded by Sir Peter Scott. Chichester is a Cathedral city that has good shopping and cinemas as well as the highly respected Festival Theatre, the Pallant House Art Gallery and the outstanding Fishbourne Roman Palace. Goodwood is renowned for horse racing and motor enthusiasts and is host to 'Glorious Goodwood', the Festival of Speed and Goodwood Revival. Parham House and Gardens is a beautiful Elizabethan Home with 7 acres of grounds and a fantastic walled garden. West Dean College specialises in arts and crafts and conservation. Its beautifully restored Gardens are open to the public with a restaurant and shop. The Weald and Downland Museum is nearby. Cass Sculpture Foundation, inspiring collection of 21st century British Sculpture within Goodwood Estate. Cowdray Park in Midhurst, home of British Polo. West Witterring beaches and marina, 1hr by car, vast sandy beaches near Chichester. Explore the vineyards of Sussex with their growing reputation – plenty to visit for tastings and tour packages available.
  • Louise and Andrew were very friendly and helpful. The apartment is wonderful, full of comfort and style and has everything you need. It is deep in the woods and very private and completely restful. Close to Pulborough and Petworth. Wildlife on doorstep, owl hooting outside your bedroom.

    Sara2015-12-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay in Bedham. The house had everything we needed and Louise kindly provided toys and a high chair for our 7 month old. She also provided details and OS maps of several local walks which was very helpful. A lovely place to go and escape for a few days.

    Brendan2015-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • This is truly one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. Set in such a wonderful part of England, the cottage is absolutely perfect. Even though the weather was a bit grey (not a surprise in February) it's such a lovely place to spend some time. I loved watching the birds just outside the window with the most spectacular view behind. I'm absolutely certainly planning to visit again.

    Milly2016-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Simply put, this place is perfect. The photos on the listing make it look magical, and it's even better in person. Louise and Andrew were lovely hosts, and there was a welcome pack which we pretty much used as a bible for 4 days. The apartment is beautiful – full of great art/design/literature/furniture – so it felt like home straight away. We'd love to return again to see it and the area at different times of the year. If you need a getaway in the woods, it has to be here. Go go go.

    Andy2014-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • Just as pretty as the photos. A lovely peaceful place to spend time. Louise made me feel very welcome. Gorgeous setting amongst the tree tops.

    Mel2015-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful hideaway up in the hills near Petworth. The view is like tonic for the soul each morning and dusk. Attached to a postcard house but very private, the one bedroom setup was great for us with our one year old (who loved the toys and highchair provided!) in a travel cot and the downstairs open plan sitting room - kitchen is perfect for quiet evenings in with the great books and TV provided. Superb shower room and great design throughout - the creative owners fill every area with fun and intelligent art and curios. Would make a brilliant romantic retreat for a couple, a perfect base for ramblers and nature lovers, and ideal city escape (only took us 1hr 45 from north London).

    Adam2016-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful relaxing stay in Louise's gorgeous hide out. We live in London and this was a perfect get away; it felt like we were in the middle of nowhere and it was very peaceful. Louise was a great host; being very flexible and understanding with both our arrival and departure times. If you are relying on use of wifi then I recommended having a back up because the service is a little patchy. However, if you need to connect to a laptop I'd suggest using the ethernet cable under TV cabinet. There are plenty of nice walks in the area and Louise provided us with lots of useful routes and maps. We found some gorgeous country pubs en route with delicious food. The flat is gorgeous, decorated with very personal touches and feels like a home away from home. Thanks and we hope to return!

A 16th century mews cottage in the picturesque West Sussex village of Fittleworth in the heart of the South Downs National Park. Ideal country retreat for walkers and visitors wanting to see Arundel, with its castle and cathedral, or enjoy the coast
  • Jules hosted my sister and her partner for a surprise weekend getaway. They loved the cottage and had a fantastic time and the whole thing was very useful to organise and co-ordinate - I'm very grateful!

  • The house was beautiful and the beds very comfortable! It was a shame we couldn't stay longer. Jules was a very accommodating host, I would whole heartedly recommend this weekend retreat.

  • We had a wonderful time in Clematis Cottage. The house is beautiful and beds so comfy and clean. we did not want to leave the fireside which Jules helpfully popped in to keep going for us. It is perfect for a weekend break as cottage feels like a fairy tale a million miles from london. There are some lovely pubs around too. Thank you !

  • Jules made sure we knew everything we needed to about the house, the cat and the area. It made everything effortless, it was very quick to all get comfortable in this lovely cottage. The guys I stayed with couldn't stop thanking me for booking such a lovely cottage.

  • Clematis Cottage is beautiful! Jules kept in touch beforehand and sent restaurant recommendations as well as local sights to see. The cottage is exactly as it is in the pics - just beautiful. The beds are the comfiest i have ever slept in, and because it is so dark I had the best sleep I have had in forever! I would definitely recommend for a nice, quiet, peaceful time away from the stresses of life. Arundel is a very pretty town also which is only 15 mins away. Thanks Jules, we loved it!

  • Clematis Cottage was an absolute delight to stay in. It was cosy and comfortable and would be an ideal place to stay if you're exploring the surrounding countryside. We were attending a wedding reception up the road and so this was ideally located for us. It was a great place to come back to at the end of a long day. We would definitely come back and stay again. Thanks very much Jules for letting us stay for the weekend!

  • Clematis Cottage was everything the name suggests; quaint and homely. We had a lovely break in a beautiful cottage in a glorious part of the U.K. There is nothing we could be critical about in terms of the cottage, a very pretty cottage in a quaint village.

  • Jules has created an amazing space, in which you instantly feel at home in. Its a great place to stay if you are wanting the classic country retreat and close to Petworth and so many great pubs! Really cant recommend it enough.

Gorgeous king size bedroom with en-suite bath and shower, in a beautiful country village at the foot of the downs. We provide fresh linen and towels. There is a wardrobe for clothes with plenty of hangers, bedside tables with lights. Wonderful cooked breakfasts served our kitchen or dinning room with our free range eggs, or a selection of fresh fruits and pastries. Safe locked garage for bike storage. Plenty of off street parking.
The bedroom is located in our beautiful thatched barn which dates back 400 years. Plenty of character and a beautiful garden you can relax in too.
We live in a beautiful village on the foot of the downs a 10 minute walk from the south downs way. From our front door you can walk down to the river arun and wander to the pubs in Houghton, or Amberley (all a 30 minute walk) or into Arundel along the river path which takes 1.5hours We also have a great pub in the village which is a 5 minute walk.
  • Tim and Sammy are fantastic hosts and have a beautiful house. The room is very well appointed with lovely linen and bedding on a very comfortable bed. They were very welcoming, flexible on check-in, very responsive on the messaging system and even offered to drop us down the road to the wedding we were attending to save us time. A first rate breakfast with eggs from their own hens - superb service. Highly recommended.

The Bowery is a tranquil coach house opposite the church. Despite being in the heart of the village and walking distance from all pubs, restaurants and shops, you will only hear birdsong and church bells. The house is airy, fully modernised with exclusive use of a large part of the garden. Everyone is welcome. Please note that there is a shallow, unfenced pond in our part of the garden.
The Bowery is in the grounds of a Grade 11 listed building dating back to 1400. The accommodation consists of a twin and a double bedroom with the option of a single futon and travel cot. Downstairs, a double sofa bed can be set up in the living room and would be suitable for disabled guests since the bathroom is on the ground floor and supplied with a toilet support rail. Although we can host 7 adults and a child, and have had as many as 9 people staying for a local wedding [2 slept on the floor], for longer breaks we would recommend limiting the number to 4 or 5. The fully equipped kitchen area has a double induction hob with oven, microwave, fridge, washing machine, electric carving knife and food processor. A dining table will seat 6 and a high-chair is provided. The bathroom has a shower, toilet and bath with heated towel-rail. Superior soaps and hand moisturiser are supplied along with a hair dryer. Quality towels: one large, one small and a face cloth are provided for each guest. Filter coffee, tea, sugar and condiments are provided and your welcome pack consists of homemade jam and cava [not homemade!], together with any available, seasonal garden produce. We won't forget to leave something for your dog(s) too.
Storrington lies in a valley right next to the South Downs National Park. We are less than a mile from the South Downs Way and within easy distance of the sea, Brighton, Goodwood, Fishbourne Roman Villa, Chichester Harbour, Petworth House, and many other National Trust properties and attractions. The village offers a Waitrose supermarket, other necessary shops and a good range of excellent restaurants and pubs, all within easy walking distance.

  • I didn't get a chance to meet Katie other than say 'Hi' while rushing out, but her mum Beverley was in whenever I was, and she helped me with things like finding directions to an address, and letting me use the phone, as my car broke down a couple of miles before getting to them. I am very grateful for the assistance she gave me with regard to my circumstances. The room is as photographed, and has a lot of storage. Although I didn't use it, the kettle with tea bags is a nice little touch in my opinion, that people would likely appreciate (and I would have enjoyed too had my circumstances been different). Thank you, Beverley/Katie.

Enjoy a relaxed stay in the former home of Sir Norman Wisdom who lived here from 1958 to 76. It also belonged to Anne of Cleves, wife of Henry VIII. Located in the beautiful village of West Chiltington, on the edge of the South Downs national park, this 1 bedroom annexe is ideally placed for walking holidays and is a perfect base for the Goodwood festivals. There are two pubs, one within easy walking distance. We're also only 200 yards from the Nyetimber vineyard, famous for its sparkling wine.
West Chiltington is a quintessentially English village with 2 pubs, 2 shops, a butchers, a lovely church and village green.
  • Very quirky space. Beware low ceilings downstairs. No phone signal a bonus if you want to escape texting. Great hosts. Clean and stylish. Loved it. Cosy and homely.
