Lovely Private 3 bedroom Retreat surrounded by Gorgeous views, history, and serenity.
If you are a Writer or a Painter... If you just wish to get away from the hectic noise of modern life... If you wish for your children to discover a magical world of nature or history... If you don't wish to be surrounded by tourists and instead seek to experience a traditional Ireland... If you are drawn to the mythology of Celtic History... This unique home could be exactly what you have been seeking: Your own retreat with private with lovely views from every room in the house. This place is a true retreat from hectic city life. Most Irish Rentals are on busy roads or an attached part of a complex. Here, the peace and quiet of bird song, or the wind in the trees, or perhaps a cow in the distance are the only noises that you will hear. This home is on the land of my ancestors. It is ancient here, surrounded by significant historic sites and dolmens. Marking pedestrian paths criss cross around the property to ancient treasures and gorgeous views. There has been much inspiration for writers here since Yeats wrote of the Terrible Beauty of Sligo. There is even an old school desk here that the American writer Raymond Carver wrote about as inspiration. Music has been played and Poems have been read here. Enjoy the solitude in nature on the side of the mountainside. Lovely views of mountains in the distance. Walk to Lough Arrow or Lough Bo for some fishing. Stop by Cromleach Lodge for a dinner or spa treatment. Hike to the Moytura Battlefield or the Labby Rock to experience some real live legends. Centrally located between Castlebaldwin, Riverstown, Sligo, Boyle/Carrick, and Ballymote. Travel to different Art and Music festivals through-out the region. Try out surfing on one day and travel to charming shopping the next day. Sweet house, built with love and with guests in mind. An eco-green remodel just this past year for a healthy interior. House is insulated and has double paned modern windows. Lots of new features like wood floors and beautiful wall colors. This house is furnished with many antique furnishings but modern beds, hot water, heat and kitchen. This house on a hill has a sitting room, dining room, and conservatory porch on the front of the house. The Sitting room with a tiled fireplace for turf or wood fires, two couches, and tables. There are puzzles and games for use as well as a radio/cd player. Or make your own music with the bodrain and tin whistles. Pull out dining room table can seat eight. Plenty of wine glasses and cocktail glasses for company as well as serving dishes. The conservatory is warm and snug and bright even when the weather is not. Curl up on the sectional couch with a cup of tea and a good book. Be inspired and sit at the desk to write your novel. This is the desk that The kitchen has all appliances including microwave, hot water pot and toaster. Kitchen has just been updated with storage fixtures and butcher block. Kitchen includes all the dishes, pots, pans, silverware etc to cook a big meal for guests. The Master Bedroom has a new Queen size bed, bureau, desk and a spacious closet. The second bedroom has room for two and a bureau and large closet. The third bedroom has a modern single bed, shelves, and a closet. There are extra mattresses which can be used in other parts of the house as well. Plenty of linens and towels available. Bathroom has a full soaking tub. Hairdryer, curling iron, and iron available for guest use. Books, Maps, and Tourist information. Front loader Washer and Dryer Three yoga mats for your use. Irish Instruments for making music. Added bonus is a brand new ping pong table in the garage. Of course it is nice to away from it all but it is also good to be connected! There is a permanent land line telephone with Eirecom. The mobile phone reception works well here for Vodaphone and other carriers. There are 2 wireless phones for your use in and around the house. All landline calls between 7-7 and weekends are free! There is also 30 minutes of free mobile calls/month as well. For other calls you can pick up a phone card which will be much cheaper than your mobile! We are in the process of updating the internet with Three. There will be 40 Gigs of data available per month. Only use your allotted amount for your stay but you can top up a internet dongle if you need more. The internet works fine for email, surfing but streaming video would use up your usage too quickly. The majesty of this part of the country is amazing. Fishing, Horses, Hiking and ancient Ruins are all around these hills. Wildlife is found throughout this remote retreat. Also there is a nearby Spa, restaurants, castles, pubs, horseback riding, animal science centers, zip lines, boat rental, an eco-green retreat center, play grounds, museums, and a music cultural center on short drives. I have been coming to this magical place my whole life so feel free to write with any questions of what you are looking for on your vacation. So much to do or absolutely nothing at all! Come experience ancient Ireland first hand for a real vacation. Please note that utilities are additional to the price over a certain amount of usage.
The quiet nature loveliness of this place is amazing. If you sit quietly you might see a fox or a pheasant or rabbit come by. Walk up the back of the house and you will be surrounded by ancient fairy forts and battlefields. Across the street is a 6 thousand year old, 20 foot high stone table. Continue through the forest and you will come to a gourmet restaurant, and spa. Walk right out the driveway and you will come to two loughs and an archery range. Go right out of the drive and you will crest the hill to see the majestic view of Lough Arrow. Continue down to see a Medieval Abbey and a historic estate...or just pop into the Bow and Arrow Pub for a pint....
  • I spend 4 nights at Nola's house and really loved it. It is complete escapism and beautifully located among the trees. There are great walks with stunning views over the lakes and mountains. Nola has done a lovely job of updating the house with a combination of old and new. There is an open fire for chilly nights and central heating. The bed was new and very comfy. The sun room is a great place to sit and relax. I'll be back if Nola will have me!

    Noeleen2014-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at this house for 6 nights. Nola gave us some great tips and an overall orientation so we knew what to expect. This area is just beautiful with Lough Arrow, hiking trails, fields full of cattle, and forests. The views are great and the sunroom is perfect for going back to a slower pace. We made regular trips down to a pub Castlebaldwin for dinner & tea/desserts. The house also has a fireplace and plenty of room for two people. The bed in the master bedroom was comfortable. The night sky was amazing with the big dipper being in view out the large windows. If you want to experience rural Ireland than this is a great place to stay.

  • Nice house, middle of nowhere, great scenery. If you're looking for a bit of peace and quiet then it fits the bill. Nola + Co. couldn't have been more helpful.

    D2014-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • We both enjoyed our stay at Nola's cottage. It is in a quiet, tranquil part of Sligo, perfect base to explore the local area!

    Richard2016-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • The house is in a beautiful location. I am a runner and I went out for a different run every day and didn't once hit a main road. We were very impressed with how well appointed the house is, and comfortable. It was perfect for our small children - plenty of space for them to play inside. Nola has worked very hard to update an average 70s bungalow and turn it into something special. The outside needs some work and is quite rough and ready, but great for hide and seek! We had a wonderful time here and will definitely be back. Nola is a very attentive host, even though she is in America, and we couldn't recommend the place enough.

    jenny2012-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • This is a perfect place to be at for a weekend gate-away. The house is surrounded with greenery on all sides. The way down from the house to the main road gives amazing scenic views of lakes down below. The best part of the house is the conservatory with nice lighting , where we spent most of the time. The house was left in a very clean state and well equipped with all necessary amenities. Thanks for making our stay so comfortable Nola.

    Sukalyan2017-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • The house was booked for my aunt's and uncles for 2 nights. I initially booked the entire place for 4 people although this was increased to 6 for an extra €70, which I thought was excessive given we were taking the entire place in any case. The guests were all reasonably happy with the stay. The house is very basic, as described, with two double rooms and a single room, not really suitable for 6 people as this required a mattress on the floor or for one guest to sleep on the couch. Setting is lovely and tranquil but expensive for the level of accommodation. Nola was in touch looking for names addresses/emails/phone numbers the night before which I thought was unnecessary and the first time this happened with an air bnb booking..

    Colm2016-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • The house was very private and the location excellent. Very close to the lovely lough arrow. A car is essential to get there. It is a simpel house but comfortable and very charming. We had a great time and enjoyed the nature and rural surroundings.

  • There is nothing in this world like entering a home with an open fire on a cold October evening....this is what awaited us in Geevagh and it was a wonderful welcome. Myself and family stayed for 5 nights while visiting the area. The house warm, clean, comfortable and we even squeezed two more adults in for a night! Liam couldn't have done enough for us with local tips, comfort of the house and flexibility. Couldn't recommend the place highly enough - we'll be back next time we're in the area.

    Michael2017-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • Weekend stay at Liam's cottage was a pure pleasure for me and my partner. We haven't met Liam's personally, but his friend JT prepared everything (including burning fireplace) to our arrival. Everything was as advertised. Cottage was warm and cosy, and sheep sounds from the neighbourhood awakened us every morning. It was a perfect change (maybe a better call is escape) from crowded and loud city. Liam stayed in touch with us all weekend, which was really nice ;-) I highly recommend staying at his place!!! PS. Use Eire code to locate the cottage. It worked perfectly for us.

    Aleksandra2017-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in the house for four nights to visit family nearby and attend a wedding. We had everything we needed and were comfortable and warm. Liam answered all queries very promptly and JT checked that everything was ok for us, thank you. This is our first experience of Airbnb.

  • Great quiet country place. The sunrises and sunsets weren't to be missed here. Loved the farmhouse feel of this place and letting our son run around the property and down the dirt road. Not very close to anything, which is fine if you're looking for seclusion.

    Erica2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Our 5 kids loved the house and didn't want to leave.Check in and out was made easy.Gorgeous fire on arrival. Very peaceful house away from all the hustle and bustle. Would have liked to stay there longer.

Granny's Cottage is only 5 minutes drive to Kilronan Castle, Ballyfarnon so it's perfect for attending a wedding there. Free wifi is included. The nearby Arigna Miners Way is ideal for quiet country walks. The cottage is within walking distance of a playground and sportsground. Find out more about the local area at geevagh dot ie website. Look forward to hosting you! Tom and Deirdre
Rural location. 5 minutes walk to playground and sports facilities.
Geevagh is a village in the South East of Sligo, on the R284 regional road. The name means windy valley. It is situated between Lough Bo, Lough Skean, Lough Arrow and Carran Hill.
  • Lovely quaint little cottage, very clean with everything you could ever need for a comfy stay all presented in a charming way by Tom and deidre. Definitely book again

    Roy2017-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • This is very spacious cottage where we could stay with our two grown-up children without any problem. The contact with Tom was easy and he is very helpful. I recommend it for people looking for a silent and nice cottage in the wider area of Sligo.

  • Grannys cottage is in a rural part of Ireland and you do need a car. That's pretty much all of the negatives (and for our family this is not actually a negative!) The cottage itself is very comfortable with all fixtures and fittings needed - we are a family of two adults and two kids. We had to book the cottage at very short notice but Tom and Deidre made us very welcome and we're very helpful with all of our questions before, and during our stay. We love the location. Shops are a short drive away and you cannot beat the feeling of looking out of the window and seeing green fields, next to no traffic, and the sheep/cows grazing. We loved the cottage and hope others do too

    Lindsay2017-04-17T00:00:00Z

  • We stay at Tom's cottage for 2 nights as we had a wedding on Kilronan Castle. The house was in a good location, close to the castle. Tom was very friendly and he had the fire lighted when we arrived at the house. We had a great time at his cottage! Wishing you all the best in your future Tom.

  • Marian was a lovely host and very helpful with any queries we had regarding the house and surrounding area. The house itself was traditional, cosy and well equipped and the garden was beautifully maintained. We found the house first time with the directions provided which is always a bonus. All in all it was exactly what we wanted for a short break in a picturesque part of the country. Many thanks to Marian, we only wish we could have stayed longer :)

  • Wonderfully warm, Irish cottage in rural location. Marian is a fantastic host and very accomodating. We travelled up with 3 children (3-8 yrs), there was plenty of room for us. The house was immaculately clean, warm and homely. It is rural and we knew that coming, loved the quiet scenic location and safe for kids to play outside in the country.

  • This is a lovely place. It is quiet, with a fantastic view over the valley, and there are lots of nice walks from the house. The house is super clean and well kept. There is a nice garden both in front and behind the house. Marian, who lives very close by, is very accomodating and helpful and knows everything about the area. There are lots of nice things to do!

    Tanja2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • Marion is a lovely lady and an excellent host. We felt welcome as she left tea, milk, scones, fresh eggs and more for us. We were able to follow Marion's directions to the house and the flowers and garden was lovely. The house was spotless, the stove had the house warm when we arrived and it was nice and cosy. Marion was very helpful with directions and anything we asked her. We are hoping to return for a weekend before the year is out.

  • Really lovely place in scenic countryside not far from Sligo town. The house was warm and beautifully kept, with super comfy beds. Marian had the house well set up for us, gave us great advice and left us to our own devices to enjoy it all. I will definitely be looking to stay there again if I'm back up that way!

    Sinead2015-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed 3 days in Marian's house. She made us feel very welcome from day one and kept in contact with us throughout our stay. Marian provided us with fresh organic eggs from her own hens and scones and home made jam. The house is rural with views of the rolling countryside. It is very warm and extremely comfortable and very well looked after. The fridge, larder and bathroom were all well stocked with the essentials and more. The house is pleasantly old fashioned but with all modern facilities. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a similar experience. A quiet break away from the hustle and bustle. And fantastic value.

  • We stayed at Eamonn's house in September while visiting family in the area. The house was spectacular. The pictures on Airbnb didn't do it justice. The house is modern and spacious with plenty of room to accommodate two families. The host had the fire lit for us on arrival which was a nice touch. He was very helpful and pleasant to deal with. I would definitely stay here again.

Unfortunately, I did not meet Mary, but her daughter met us at the family's nearby pub and took us to the house, she was warm and helpful and made us feel more than welcome. • Beautiful, very characterful house with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The location is a little out of the way but the views are amazing. The house is next to Cathy's house though it is still very private. Everything we needed was provided including some very welcome scones on arrival. The hosts Cathy & Cairan were very friendly and welcoming. We only stayed for 2 nights but it would be very suitable for a longer stay and we highly recommend it.

The facilities are very clean and well maintained and the shop has all the essentials. This is a wonderful location for a quiet stay in scenic surroundings. We will be back.

  • We loved staying at Cath's place. The caravan is very clean and tidy and for me was pure nostalgia from my childhood holidays. I would recommend both the caravan as a place to stay and the Lough Arrow site as a whole. It is very handy for Lough Key park and the surrounding lakes which are beautiful. Katy and her husband are lovely people and would make anyone feel welcome. Highly recommended!

This restored 100 year old stone cottage is not just a place to come. It is a place to return to. Its light and privacy allow deep peace and dream-time on the shore of Lough Arrow. It lies at a distance of 4 miles north of Boyle and approx 15 miles from Sligo. Lough Arrow is one of Ireland’s renowned brown trout lakes, fishing is free and boats and ghillies are available on request. Carrowkeel Megalythic tombs and the Bricklieve mountains of Sligo are a short drive away.
Our cottage is located right on the shores of Lough Arrow. There is a beautiful mature landscaped garden with direct access to the lake from our private jetty. There is also a 16ft row boat available upon request. There is also an outdoor barbeque area with plenty of seating and spectacular views of Carrowkeel across the lake. We are very close to Kilronan Castle (15 minutes) Boyle (15 minutes) Carrick on Shannon and Sligo are both within 30 minutes drive.
  • Unfortunately, Hurricane Ophelia intervened in our plans and our flight to Ireland was cancelled, so we never got to meet Dymphna nor stay in her home. She was incredibly understanding and accommodating and gave us a full refund, which, at such late notice, she was under no legal obligation to do. Thank you Dymphna and I hope we will be back to meet you and stay in your lovely home on another occasion.

  • I almost hate to recommend this place because it's one of the best Airbnb finds of the last 5 years! Amazing-- if you are lucky enough to stay here -- you will see what I mean! We loved our time in the cottage! An unforgettable Irish experience in every way.

  • Staying at Lough Arrow with John and Eileen was wonderful! They are very welcoming and accommodating and have thought about all the smallest details. John gave us a tour of the lake and walked us around the farm and we also enjoyed using the row boat on our own. We wished we had stayed longer at Lough Arrow!

  • Eileen's Place was exactly what we were looking for! We had been traveling in Dublin and Galway and booked Eileen's rental in hopes of a lakeside/farm experience away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The lake was accessible with a very short walk, and John allowed us to interact with the farm animals. The house was very neat and clean, well appointed, and the fresh pastries Eileen left for us were great! We would highly recommend!

  • We really enjoyed our stay at Eileen's house. It was in a beautifully scenic area that was so relaxing and quiet but still just 20 minutes from Lough Key and Boyle town so lots to see and do. Eileen and John went out of their way to make us feel welcome despite us arriving very late on Friday night. Their beautiful and friendly dog Max was a real hit with the children and myself and my husband! Highly recommend this spacious and very clean house for families or even a romantic weekend away.

    Hazel2017-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • We thouroghly enjoyed our stay with John, Eileen and their beautiful friendly dog Max. We stayed for 2 nights with 2 kids under 6. John suggested we roam the farm lands freely to see the horses, sheep and cows which the kids loved. We also took out the cottage's row boat across Lough Arrow, which i would highly recommend. The cottage was clean, warm and comfortable. The hosts were great and nothing was too much trouble. We were left warm scones and fruit loaf with jam upon arrival which we thought was a nice touch. I would recommend this listing if you are looking for peace and quiet in beautiful surroundings.

    David2016-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • We loved every minute we spent at Lough Arrow. Eileen & John were excellent hosts who greeted us with fresh scones and jam. The home is very cozy and warm, a perfect country retreat.... and the best part... lambs being born on the farm... and their friendly dog Max. Great trip!

Amber B&B is situated in a beautiful, scenic part of the north-west, between Lough Arrow and Lough Key. It is the perfect location for those seeking peace and quiet, yet is close to Boyle and Carrick-on-Shannon for restaurants and night-life.
Amber B&B has two large double rooms and a family room with a double bed and a single bed. A wooden cot is also available. All rooms are en-suite with power showers. Homemade breakfast is served in a bright, spacious dining room with individual guest tables. There is underfloor heating throughout.
Lakes, mountains, castles, Lough Key Forest Park, hiking and cycling trails, fishing. Carrowkeel Cairns and Labby Rock.
  • My fiance, myself and our 6 month old could have stayed here for weeks. It is in the beautiful country side which is quiet with many directions to walk in. There is a local lake and forest area with walks and activities. What I loved was the size room. You can open up your bags and still have room to move. Trish had a cot set up for baby and the bed was great. Another great thing was the pressure in the shower. The bathroom was all lovely and new. The room was warm and Trish had even made us a hot breakfast in the morning. So relaxing and quiet.

    Giselle2015-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • Amber B&B is a proper B&B with a good nights sleep, nourishing breakfast, peaceful surrounds and a great host. Take something to read with you for those quiet moments though.

    Cameron2017-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • We spent a lovely night at this B&B in a beautiful setting. Stunning views of the lake from the road leading to the house which is set far back from the road and was very quiet. Trish was a great host and very welcoming providing lots of info on the area. The rooms were large and the bathroom had a good shower. Kids particularly loved the trampoline at the back. Tasty breakfast served with a smile.

A unique opportunity to stay in a beautiful eco cottage set in a forest clearing in County Sligo. The house has ecological features such as its own rainwater harvesting system and compost toilet. A car is necessary. It is situated 10 mins from the nearest village, half an hour from the wild Atlantic coast. 10mins from beautiful lakes for fishing and swimming. Near to mountains and megalithic sites. Activities nearby include surfing, walking, horse riding, paddle boarding, kayaking.
  • We really enjoyed our stay here. A comfortable and relaxing space surrounded by woodland. The house is beautifully presented and very unique. We hope to visit again!

  • Overall it was a lovely holiday. The location is beautiful. The house is cosy. The garden is beautiful and very tranquil. I like what they are doing with the place. An ideal getaway, retreat.

    Pauline2016-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our stay here, we got a little lost en route to the home and when contacting the hosts friend who was meeting us with keys she recognised where we were because of the goats which blocked us on the road! From start to finish our 1st airbnb experience was an absolute joy. We wanted quiet, secluded and peaceful and that is exactly what got! The photos and description though beautiful really are just a sneak peek at who perfect this lodge is... it is a very special place. The compost toilet is something we really weren't concerned about but something I know some may raise their eyebrows about... I have to say... my mind is blown. To be blunt there is NO smell, you don't "see" anything and the I am totally sold onot his set up... not to feared! The rainwater system is something I will miss the most, the water is magical... absolutely beautiful on the skin and we all commented on how good our skin felt, my partner has psoriasis and within 2 days a visible improvement was evident. That was a treat... We have a 5yr old son, he had a ball... it rained pretty much constantly for us but this didn't bother us at all. When it was dry we took advantage of the wind and flew a kite, watched the bees and played! He really enjoyed himself We brought a lot so didn't need to venture too far, needed a butcher and Riverstown had 2... we did travel into Sligo for a food shop as really there wasn't a lot in Riverstown (I wanted red lentils and couldn't find any) So do make sure you bring what you need or buy on the way as (thankfully) there isn't a lot on your doorstep We enjoyed the red wine left by Rebecca & her partner (sorry I forgot your name!) and the Courgette and salad leaved Amy left for us were just gorgeous.. Oh I wish to be back there! Thank you very much for everything

A unique Irish heritage cottage located on the shores of Lough Nasuil in the beautiful county of Sligo. Spacious, light and wonderfully quiet it is a very charming comfortable hideaway, accommodating 6 guests with ease. Set in beautiful gardens, it is surrounded by lakes, hills and mountains - a wonderful place for walking, fishing and exploring the surrounding landscape, coast and beaches of County Sligo. It is also an excellent location from which to explore the Yeats' Country of Sligo.
This is a very spacious, light and unique cottage with listed heritage status. It is both 20 minutes from Strandhill and Sligo town. It is perfect for couples, solo adventurers and family holidays.
This is a lakeland landscape with lovely walks and great views. There is also access to the lakes with local boat hire and fishing permits available. From here you can easily visit the megalithic sites of Carrowkeel, Kesh Corran, Moytura, Carrowmore and Knocknarea. The house is located 20 minutes from Sligo town, 25 minutes from Lough Gill, Carrowmore, Culleenamore, Strandhill and the beautiful site of Queen Maeve's tomb on the top of Knocknarea. A little further afield, the other side of Sligo town, and 30 minutes from Nasuil Cottage, you will be in the heart of Yeats' country - Benbulbin, Drumcliffe and Lisadell House. In the very local vicinity of the house you will find a local bar - the Bo and Arrow, run by the lovely Mc Donagh family. The local towns are Rivertown and Ballyfarnon - they both have village shops, pubs and post offices.
  • We really enjoyed our stay. The house and the environment are beautiful. The place huge and it is really secluded. There is only one adjaced building but we didn't see or hear much of those living in there. There is no wifi and TV and the phone's reception is not good enough to be able to use the internet. If you want a break from social media etc. it is the perfect place... Communication was a bit slow and confusing in the beginning as there are obviously several people involved but I guess this is because they are rather new in the business...

    Andrea2017-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • Having stayed in many Air B and B’s I can honestly say this is one of the best , totally unique building and location and superbly well managed . The cottage has a thatch and peat roof that im told is one of only 2 left in Ireland dating back several hundred years . The proportions of the kitchen/dinning area are vast and the window frme looks as if its has come from a stately house The house is perfectly equipped bone dry with central heating in addition to the numerous open fires we were greeted with flowers eggs milk and enough peat to get us going . The area itself is also fascinating and we spent most of the time either learning to surf in StrandHill, exploring ancient burial grounds or meeting super friendly locals at the local bar. We plan to return on a regular basis and keen to try fly fishing on nearby lakes Can not recommend this place enough , it’s a GEM A*
