  • Fiona is an exemplary host, and her ownership of such a site is to be envied. All in our family were charmed by the accommodation, its facilities and the surroundings. Occupation of the site was easy, departure was hard, and all of us will cherish the memory of a truly memorable celebratory holiday, made possible by all that Fiona and her caretaker Daniel thoughtfully provided.

  • The communication with Laura prior to our stay was swift and helpful, and the details about the property that she sent, helped us plan what to bring and how to make the most of our visit. The property itself is amazing to explore; the huge kitchen with such gorgeous windows was the hub for us and whether cooking, reading the paper, eating or drinking, was definitely the most well used room (also the warmest thanks to the aga), but between the enormous sitting room, the library in the tower and the hidden passage to the gallery it's hard to pick another favourite, but plenty to enjoy, not forgetting the fabulous tree swing outside! We explored local footpaths for a walk on the Sunday and met friendly dog walkers and other locals. Our weather was glorious for January, (if brisk,) but the porch and hall allowed plenty of space to hang coats and leave wellies and shoes that had tramped the surrounding countryside. We would definitely come again, particularly now we all know how to find it (arrive in daylight if you can!) and it was a fantastic birthday weekend!

  • We had an absolutely wonderful weekend. Trampolines, croquet, fireside boardgames, sunday roasts, country walks. And the rain stayed away until our last morning. It’s a truly special place, we all look forward to coming back in the new year some time. The steeple conversion was a great highlight, and the little library was a wonderful place for some of us to study - and a wonderful environment to get work done. Beds were very comfortable. The collection of activities was great, badminton and barbecues were wonderful features, and the log fire and piano were just perfect. I really could not have been happier and more well-rested in such a stunning place. Laura was quick and helpful in her responses. Very much look forward to coming back.

  • Stunning. Yes it is. I highly recommend booking this fantastic home. Laura was a fabulous host, very helpful when we needed her guidance. The kitchen is divine, we spent most of time around the huge table and enjoying fabulous dinners. The bedrooms were very comfortable and warm, everyone slept well. It's a little nippy in February so we heeded Laura's advice and stoked the fire in the living room when we first arrived. We discovered on the second day that there are two boilers- probably should have read the manual properly, but apart from that- there is absolutely nothing negative to say. Thank you Laura for allowing us to use your home.

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the enchanting Old Church. It was (quite) easy to find, spacious but cosy and beautiful to look at from the inside and out!! The kitchen was excellent stocked and the Aga was surprisingly easy to cook in. I can definitely recommend staying here.

    Katy2014-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Good communication from the host. Beautiful property Laura's done a great job. Would definitely recommend!

    Louie2014-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely incredible place. The building is staggering and has loads of different spaces to explore. The garden is also amazing, beautiful in the sun, lots of space to sit and has a great bbq. Views from the tower are lovely! We had a brilliant time, I'd highly recommend the church!

    Francis2017-06-12T00:00:00Z
  • A really special place, wonderful to explore inside and out. We had a family weekend there, celebrating my parents' 70th birthdays and it was perfect. Great views from the top, footpaths from the door and near to the Suffolk coast for crabbing! The turning to it is easy to miss (especially in the dark) - if the Baptist church is on your left (on the road to Debenham), then the turning is immediately after it on the right).

Gorgeous shepherds hut in the middle of a meadow with spectacular views less than 2 hours from London. Fab shower room in barn next door. Beautiful Eye town is a ten minute walk away with a great pub, antique shops and deli. 40 min from east coast.
You are in the middle of a field, but can walk into one of the most beautiful small town in Suffolk. Diss train station is 10 minutes by Taxi and trains run regularly directly to London Liverpoolstreet. Fab for Cycling, walking and totally relaxing- Although you stay in the middle of a meadow, the shower room and loo in the adjacent barn are brand new.
This is a very special part of Suffolk, you can get to Southwold and the East Coast and the Norfolk broads in 40 minutes by car and have some of the most amazing villages, churches antique shops and pubs nearby, yet it is largely undiscovered.
  • Perfect little bolt-hole, even in the depths of winter!

  • Best Airbnb experience I've had! Olivia and Gary were very welcoming, helpful, and interesting. The hut itself is just as described and very cosy, with a beautiful view of the fields and church tower. The associated buildings (Abbey Hall) are likewise beautiful and interesting. We've absolutely nothing negative to say - fully recommend!

    Will2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • An amazing, picturesque place to stay! I could happily wake up in that field every day. Olivia was very helpful & the lady who met us was really nice aswell, checking in with us later on as there was a massive thunder storm in the evening but we were snug as a bug in a rug.

    Genevieve2016-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Olivia was very friendly and helpful, welcomed us to the hut and showed us everything we needed to know, where our private bathroom was and where the kitchen is for breakfast etc. There were lovely biscuits and juice on arrival. The setting is idyllic with a gorgeous view. It's only a short walk to a nice pub too. It feels very private and easy going at the Abbey, lovely stay :)

    Daphne2016-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Quick stop off for a nearby wedding. Loved the setting, wish we were staying there for the week! Thank you Olivia and Gary for your hospitality. Stef

    Stef2017-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • The Shepherd's Hut is located in a gorgeous setting and is cosy and welcoming. We'd been cycling all day, so great to be within wandering distance of a pub!

    Sophie2016-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • This was a really special, magical weekend. Our hosts were friendly and welcoming, the place was clean, secluded and private. The meadow was beautiful, especially at sunset. I would recommend this place to anyone. Thank you!

The Barn sleeps up to 9 people, with views over the Suffolk countryside, a large garden, outdoor hot tub and BBQ. It's a 'get away from it all' place. Just chill out and stay put, or visit Framlingham, Norwich or Cambridge. We're also near Thetford Forest and the Suffolk Coast at Southwold, Aldeburgh and Minsmere. There are many traditional English pubs around us that serve Suffolk ales and great food. Dog friendly, wheelchair accessible and suitable for solo business travellers.
The Barn is part of a Grade II listed property and has been renovated from a stable block and woodsheds into a modern and spacious living space. It's single level, so there are no stairs to negotiate. There's a large living/dining space, games room, plenty of sleeping and cooking space and lots to do.
Many people come just to spend time at the property. Others come to explore. The Suffolk coast at Southwold and Aldeburgh is very accessible from us and is a very popular choice for a day trip. Thorndon is our nearest village (just under a mile away), with a lovely pub called The Black Horse. Eye is our nearest town (one mile way), with supermarkets, butchers, greengrocers, delicatessen, coffee shops, a chocolate shop (yum!), estate agents, hardware store, hairdressers, beauty therapists, Chinese and Italian takeaways, doctor's surgery, community hospital and library. Diss and Stradbroke are close by, with more facilities including swimming pools and restaurants. We have some lovely pubs around us where you can get seriously good food. Our local fish and chip shop in Eye serves delicious fresh fish. We also cook homemade food should you want to pre-order food in for special occasions.
  • The house is nice. The garden is great - the kids loved it! Very rural and relaxing.

    Joanne2017-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic barn, jacuzzi, BBQ bedrooms, facilities and host - Helen! Couldn't have asked for anything more, incredibly accommodating and flexible. Our group absolutely loved staying at the barn and we will be back!

    Edward2017-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • Helen and Darren are fabulous hosts who live in a beautiful area, the barn is really comfortable with super comfy beds. It is very well equipped, with lots of thoughtful touches, plenty of games to play, DVDs to watch and a very lovely summer house to sit in. The hot tub is such a great asset and is a lovely place to chill both in the day and later in the evening. There is a farm next door but that's part of being in the countryside!

    Yvonne2017-08-21T00:00:00Z

    Jessica2016-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Helen was amazing making sure we were alright and had everything we needed. The whole barn was beautiful and we were really able to relax, next time would probably bring friends with as was rather expensive renting the whole place out just my partner, myself and our dog but well worth the money nonetheless :)

    Chris-topher2016-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful accommodation spacious, clean and well equipped. Lovely garden for children, in addition to a play room! The area is peaceful, the garden full of wildlife with the bonus of a hot tub for adults. Helen, our host, was so friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Good place for visiting local places. Would return here and recommend to friends. Thank you

    margaret2016-12-04T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to escape with a group of friends or family to enjoy the countryside. The Barn offers a clean, comfortable stay with all the amenities you could want including a fantastic hot tub. The local pubs are good and within walking distance and Helen the host is very helpful and knowledgeable on the local area. Helen made sure we had some bread, milk and fresh eggs on arrival (most amazing eggs!) which was much appreciated. Helen was always contactable during our stay and most accommodating upon check out allowing us to leave slightly later than planned. Overall we had a great weekend stay and would recommend as a group of ladies, especially as we could walk to the local town / pub (Eye) and hit the hot tub on return!

Owl's Hoot is a Four Star Gold Visit England property and has Rambler and Cyclists Welcome Awards. This holiday home is a charming Grade II listed contemporary conversion of a single storey barn with exposed green oak beams and oak vaulted ceiling in the sitting room and kitchen. The property is located in the village of Stoke Ash, near Eye, with all necessary amenities within easy reach. Inside the property there is a stylish woodburner and bi-folding doors which open onto the garden where there is a private decking with a 4/5 seater hot tub and a further patio area.
The village of Stoke Ash has plenty to offer those looking to visit this beautiful part of the county. Within the village there is a post office, a shop located within one of the locals garages selling many essentials and the local pub, The White Horse Coaching Inn, which was voted the 'best bar' within the area by the Diss Express, the local newspaper. Our guests receive 10% off all their meals and drinks at this charming pub within the village. Within one and a half miles the thatched Four Horseshoes is thought to be the oldest pub within Suffolk with a 12th century well inside its restaurant. The historic market town of Diss, with coffee shops, restaurants and pubs overlooking the pretty lake, are within approximately ten minutes by car. Eye and Framlingham, communities with castles, independent shops including a chocolatier and butchers are close by, as are picture postcard villages. Thornham Walks, with 12 miles of woodland walks around an historic estate are within a few miles and there are many beautiful lanes and sites to explore by bicycle too. The Suffolk coast including communities of Aldeburgh and Southwold, the Norfolk Broads, Ipswich with river cruises on offer, and the cathedral cities and towns of Norwich and Bury St Edmunds bustling with history and fine restaurants, are all easily accessible for day trips.
  • Owl's Hoot is the perfect place for a countryside getaway. The property itself had everything we needed for a cosy weekend away - we particularly enjoyed the hot tub after a day's sightseeing, and then relaxing in front of the fire. The location is ideal both for the Suffolk coast and towns such as Bury St Edmund's.

    James2017-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • Owl's Hoot Barn is absolutely beautiful! The converted barn was immaculate, very homely, comfortable, warm and very romantic. The best feature for me personally was the amazing fireplace. John (the host) provided an ample supply of firewood which lasted us the whole weekend. He also provided a welcome hamper of teas, coffee, wine and biscuits. Towels were provided along with shampoo and showergels. We were very impressed :). The barn was also equipped with WiFi, a smart TV with netflix and amazon prime, which we used for our perfect time away. John was very accommodating, and kept in contact with us at all times. We checked in at 10pm for our stay and this was not a problem at all. Thank you John for an amazing stay and we will be visiting again :).

  • The Owls Hoot is a beautiful place to come to stay. If you are looking for somewhere comfortable, cosy, warm, remote and to a high spec, then this is for you. Add to the mix that John is an excellent host, responding very quickly to any questions I had. The hot tub is a lovely addition. Don't hesitate.

    David2017-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Great little cottage for my girlfriends birthday weekend. The hot tub was perfect on a cold Novembers night. The house was completely breathtaking

    Edward2017-11-21T00:00:00Z
  • Owl's Hoot is lovely place to stay - clean, tidy and cosy. The log burner and the hot tub are fantastic and easy to use. Would thoroughly recommend!

    Dan2017-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here for a few nights in August for our minimoon, and it was the perfect location to relax and spend some time together. The hot tub was perfect, and the decking area it's on is secluded enough that it does feel very private. We did have a few issues with the internet, as you might expect in somewhere this rural! But John was very helpful and got it sorted out quickly for us. It's a fabulous place to stay for a romantic break for two, we'd highly recommend it!

    Todd2017-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a lovely stay at Owl's Hoot. It's situated in a very peaceful and quiet area which is great if you want a relaxing weekend. The place is very well equipped, you'd pretty much be able to cook anything in the large kitchen area. However if you wanted to go out, John and Katie had an extensive list of places to eat out, they all looked lovely but it was just so cosy in the barn conversion that we just wanted to make the most of it. The jacuzzi was great and made it even more luxurious! We would certainly recommend Owl's Hoot!

  • A great place to stay, superb bathroom and a comfy and well finished space. Secluded and quiet enough to get away, but close enough to everything you might need for a stay. Gill and Geoff gave us a really warm welcome and added lots of little touches to make our stay as comfortable as possible.

  • Charmerande, nyrenoverad stuga. Lugnt läge, vackra omgivningar. Gill och Jeff var mycket välkomnande. När vi hade lite svårt att hitta, på grund av att det hunnit bli mörkt, kom Jeff och mötte och vinkade in oss.

A traditional Suffolk beamed detached house - the jury is out as to whether it is a Suffolk Long House or Hall House - set in a couple of acres of private garden in a charming countryside setting, perfect for walkers and cyclists alike. A house full of history, Woodhall Manor is both spacious and cosy - with three log burning stoves it has to be. Very much a country house, Woodhall Manor is just a couple of miles from Diss and within a very short drive of five wedding venues. Diss 2 miles, Framlingham 19 miles, Beccles and the Broads 22 miles, Norwich 24 miles, Bury St Edmunds 22 miles, Southwold 30 miles Trains - Diss is just a few minutes drive away; on the main line from Norwich to London, there are train services every 30 minutes. This Suffolk Cottage Holiday Property: A traditional old Suffolk house, Woodhall Manor is in a rural location on the edge of the tiny hamlet of Thrandeston. The property has all the hall marks of a traditional Suffolk Long House. Beamed throughout, taller guests will have to duck to get through some doorways. A stunning inglenook fireplace in the sitting room with log burning stove, a contemporary log burner in the ground floor bedroom and a Romesse pot belly stove, dating back to World War II, in the kitchen, you are unlikely to be cold. As well as a solid oak front door, floor boards throughout are the original broad boards once so common in traditional properties in Suffolk. The house has been tastefully refurbished and includes two new bathrooms. Upstairs there are two double bedrooms, one with king sized bed, a small double and a bunk bedroom; all decorated and furnished in keeping with the feel of the house; they are light and airy with vaulted ceilings and exposed beams. The upstairs family bathroom is extremely spacious and includes from a large bedroom and includes a bath and large walk in shower, wash basin, and w.c. The ground floor bedroom is perfect for guests who either don't want to cope with stairs or would like their own relaxing space (large comfortable sofa and wood burning stove). Grounds and Surrounds: Woodhall Manor has a large garden with drive for at least 4 cars. The garden is hedged on one side, fenced on another and separated from the fields on one side by a shallow hedged ditch. The garden includes large areas of lawn, shrub borders, flowering trees and an ancient order with some quite rare species of apple and pear and a mulberry. There are several seating areas as well as a veranda at the back with table and chairs and charcoal barbecue, a delightful sun trap terrace for outside eating. There is a deep pond in the neighbouring garden which could be accessed by a determined child or inquisitive dog - when out in the garden please do supervise small children at all times. A perfect location for walkers, cyclists or anyone with an interest in history or wildlife Woodhall Manor is close to the Suffolk Norfolk border in an area rich in historic treasure and wildlife sanctuaries including Redgrave and Lopham Fen, a wild watery landscape of sedge, rush, heath and hundreds of pools created over many centuries by local people as they eked out a living, digging peat for fuel and cutting reed and sedge for thatching. With well over 270 plant species, including many national or regional rarities, the fen boasts a diversity of plant life to satisfy even the keenest of botanists. Thornham Walks is a delight, there are paths suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs and lots of other delightful walks - dogs are welcome if kept on their lead. Animal lovers of all ages will love a day out at Banham Zoo, just a 9 mile drive from the house whilst West Stow Saxon Village is a must for all ages. Eye is a very small town. Dating back to Roman times it was once strategically important, thus the fascinating Eye Castle and splendid church; the town hall is Italianate and there are many fascinating old buildings throughout Eye. There is a good choice of shops, all of which are within a very easy walk of The Thatched House. Sleeps: 9-10 in two bedrooms with king sized beds, two double bedded rooms (access to one of the doubles from one side only) and 1 bunk bedroom with full sized bunks. This property is ideal for: With accommodation for up to 10 and a ground floor bedroom and shower room Woodhall Manor would be ideal for a larger family, a group of friends or indeed wedding groups - it is close to five excellent wedding venues. For shopping Diss has a good selection of supermarkets and some really excellent local shops offering a wide choice of local foods. Many will want to make the most of the fantastic facilities of Eye, make a visit to the castle but allow time for a visit to Cocoa Mama, the chocolate is divine. Minimum hire: Three nights; except at Christmas and Easter when it is a week. Friday changeover in high season. Please note smoking is not permitted. One well behaved dog is welcome and can have the run of the utility room and kitchen Self-catering eating and drinking: Grocery deliveries are available and there is a great selection of catering options for your stay at Woodhall Manor. You can walk from the house to Diss via Lows Lane in Palgrave (this brings you out in the middle of Diss avoiding the two narrow roads with no footpath). A traditional market is held at Diss Market Place every Friday from 09:30 until 15:00 and the Diss Farmer's Market comes to town on the second Saturday of each month from 09:00 until 13:00. Diss has a choice of 3 supermarkets. Eye too has a great selection of shops including two Co-op supermarkets, two butchers, a flower shop, a delicatessen, a bakery and a chocolate shop. There is an award-winning, weekly Country Market in the Town Hall (Wednesdays) where fresh produce and home made cakes and preserves are available. Eating out: Diss has an excellent selection of eateries, from super tea shops to restaurants; there is even a vegetarian restaurant. There are around half a dozen local cafes and several eateries in Eye including three pubs, the nearest being the Queen's Head and there is a good fish and chip shop - we have yet to try them all, but we are working on it. • Jean and Brian were lovely hosts. We arrived late on a Friday which Jean was very understanding about. The place was lovely and warm, and we were greeted with home made bread, orange juice and doggy treats. The place was very clean and the beds very comfortable. Being in London it's lovely waking up to a lake view. Thank you for a great Stay and for accommodating my friends dog. Also, there is plenty of info in the apartment for local walks, restaurants, historical sights and things to do. Thanks and hope to see you soon.

  • Jean & Brian's place is perfect! The cottage is very cozy and has all you could need to have a perfect holiday: summer or winter, the place is very well equipped. There is a big selection of films and table games in the house that we particularly enjoyed in our very short stay. Jean's homemade bread, jam and fresh eggs were a very special treat :) Surrounded by nature with beautiful trees and a lovely park filled with wildlife: birds, foxes, rabbits and chickens! The sunset looks amazing in the autumn colours...! There is a pub just 5 minutes drive from the cottage that served good food. We were very please and we thanks again Jean and Brian to make our stay just perfect!

  • Jean was the sweetest and most amazing host! She was super flexible with our odd arrival and departure times. So generous! We enjoyed our stay.

  • We had an absolutely fantastic 2 night stay at Lake View Lodge. The lodge is fantastically set out, super clean and tidy, has a great little kitchen/amenities and cosy fireplace. The rooms were ideal for us with a 10 month old baby and the gardens and land surrounding the lodge are beautiful. There were really thoughtful touches like homemade bread, fresh eggs and bits and bobs left for our baby and these really helped to make our stay. We honestly cannot wait to come back and will definitely be doing so in 2018.

  • I would highly recommend staying here. The hosts were great, a very warm welcome was received with fresh baked bread and eggs. The cottage is lovely, you can see the lake from the cottage, the boys very much enjoyed feeding the ducks and the variety of games kept them entertained.

  • This is a very beautiful looking cottage in a lovely Suffolk village. It's extremely well equipped so we were able to cook very complicated meals all week. The decor isn't as good as it could be but the house is so old it is charming anyway. The local pub was friendly but the food was pretty bad!

  • Gardener's Cottage is as delightful as the photos suggest, a beautiful combination of quaint, stylish and comfortable. We enjoyed a happy and peaceful stay. Gorgeous little garden. Beautifully equipped immaculate kitchen, and bathrooms and showers totally 21st century with plenty of hot water. A very special little place.

  • What a beautiful haven! The location is idyllic. The room is very comfortable and well-furnished, with all the amenities that we needed. We particularly enjoyed the private sun-drenched terrace and garden. The hosts were accomodating, welcoming and generous - they even drove us to our friend's wedding so we didn't need to pay for a taxi, and allowed us a late check out so we could sleep in the next day. A very positive experience. I would definitely recommend it.

  • From the moment communication started with Denise we knew we had found a perfect retreat for our mini moon ... Denise recommended a lovely place to eat somewhere special and even booked it for us and offered to drop and collect us above and beyond our expectations .when we arrived there was champagne glasses and a bottle of fizz ready for is too ..The room was well done and comfortable and the breakfast in the morning served by the log fire was scummy! This couple really know how to make anyone feel welcome and I'm sure we Will return again to frogs hall x

  • 'Frog's Hall was a perfect place to re-charge our batteries. Lovely and relaxing room with everything you could want, amazing breakfast and Denise and John were really helpful, welcoming and friendly. Hope to come back one day:)' Thanks

  • Excellent. Lovely old house in secluded lane, garden, annexe with comfortable private room and super bathroom for us. Denise and John were ideal hosts and took great care about big and small things and made a perfect birthday break. Breakfast in the 1700 house was a treat. There is a lovely patio garden with table and chairs. When we were there it was full of butterflies. If you're there for a summer evening it would be a nice peaceful spot to drink a glass of wine (take it with you). Lots of dinner options an easy drive away. We loved the Oaksmere which is a funkily decorated half Tudor half Victorian hotel/pub with a remarkable variety of bars and dining rooms.

  • We really enjoyed our stay at Tom's place - very cosy, and the open fire going upon arrival was a real treat. Tom always responded to communications quickly and we really appreciated the small touches, such as the availability of tea, milk and biscuits. The only thing I would say is that the wifi is a tad slow/patchy, so this place might not suit if you are looking for a quiet place to study or work. However, if you are looking for a country-based location in which to relax, this place is perfect. Thanks Tom!

We enjoyed relaxing and would highly recommend the local Chinese takeaway ( Happy Palace) and the Thai Restaurant ( Singtong). The food was really good! If your looking for a quiet getaway with some nice local pubs/ restaurant’s then this is a great choice.

  • We loved our stay at Sabra's. Sabra was very welcoming when we arrived and walked us through the house. Once we were in, she happily left us to our own devices. The house was a lovely decor with all the amenities that you need. There was even tea & coffee available. The house was everything we needed; spacious living room, open kitchen, powerful shower and bath, a large bedroom, a couple of toilets and a tv with freeview. There was also an extra room outside which had a gym but can also hangout with friends or family. We had family members visit on a daily basis and she was happy for us to invite them. The grounds were beautiful with a lovely entrance, fab driveway, surrounded by fields, very close to town and walking distance. If you are looking for a quiet and restful break, this is the perfect place to be. Thanks again for a fab stay! We will be visiting again soon!

  • We absolutely loved our stay here. Sabra was lovely and welcoming we even got a bottle of water and a KitKat on arrival. The flat is exactly how it looks in the pictures, but everything is bigger and better in real life. We loved having breakfast upstairs looking out onto the field. It's in a great location with a short walk into the centre of Diss, and easy drives to the coast. We would most certainly stay again!

Wonderful cooked breakfasts with tea and coffee making facilities to use whenever we liked. Very comfortable large bed . Great communication and driving instructions , both Tom and Aggie were always around to talk about the local area and answer questions we had . Only issue for us was the access to the shared bathroom which was a little problematic at times otherwise an enjoyable 2 night stay

I live in lovely, rural Suffolk, there are no shops, no pub and no public transport within walking distance, which is fantastic. If you are looking for the country life style, you've found it.
Guest bedroom with double bed upstairs. Bathroom is downstairs, *Please note it is a shared bathroom (but rarely used by us) with only a bath tub, no shower available*
Lovely, quiet neighborhood with plenty of walking and running routes. I can lend you local maps so you can explore the area by foot. The Mid Suffolk Light Railway is walking distance from the property and some Friday nights does a pub night. Other local tourist attractions include Stonham Barns, market towns of Stowmarket, Diss and Framingham. The beautiful city of Norwich is about 50 minutes drive away. There are many seaside towns within 45-60 minutes drive away including Aldeburgh, Southwold and Dunwich. I will happily recommend local events and activities, I love Suffolk and all it has to offer.

Tea & Coffee making facilities within the Hut together with a mini fridge, TV with free view channels and DVD player.
Wortham is a small village with an excellent pub, tea rooms and Post Office and stores. Breakfast can be obtained from the tea rooms and evening meals available at the pub with a Thai/English menu. There are plenty of walks and good views of the fine Suffolk countryside.Nearby Diss is a pretty market town with a good range of shops and a park surrounding the towns main feature, The Mere. We are around 40 minutes drive from the Suffolk Coast and the historic town of Bury St Edmunds and City of Norwich are around 30 minutes away.
  • We had a very comfortable nights stay at the Shepherds Hut on Wortham Common. Obviously compact but beautifully clean and comfortable. A peaceful location situated in the garden only a few paces from the Common. I wish we could have stayed longer .

  • We had a lovely time at Peck's' - we were three couples, each with a small baby. The house was cozy yet spacious enough for all of us to feel comfortable and not on top of each other - and the bedrooms were all a good size. Milly was a wondeful and accomodating host, answering any questions I had in advance of our arrival, and providing a variety of helpful tips about the area and getting around. Especially appreciated the cot which was set up for our daughter and all the toys that the house had! The playmat was a particular favourite for all the babies. Many thanks! x

Lovely, well equipped kitchen for sociable meals, wood burning stove in living room, comfortable bedrooms. Great location for easy relaxed country walks from the door. Highly recommended!

  • This was 1 of the best places we have stayed at. The hosts are lovely people, very friendly, who made us feel at home. The cottage was easy to find as was the key for the front door. Inside we felt really comfortable. There even were toys for the children. They loved the cottage as well. The place has a big garden where we could relax and let the kids run around. I could only wish we stayed a few more days there. Thank you Mrs Milly Prior!!!

    Gueorgui2015-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • The first of our party to arrive were welcomed by Bev, a very helpful member of the family, who looked after us all week. We were made to feel very at home. We had a welcome hamper which included my favourites - freshly ground coffee, fruit cake and a bottle of apple juice, amongst other things. The location was just as quiet as we had been lead to expect. All rooms and facilities were in good condition. Our requirements for a young child, including chair, cot and toys, were fully met. We had all that we required for self catering for a group of seven. The cottage is spacious and bright. There is easy access to the lawns around. Our grand-daughter was delighted to be able to 'help' feed the sheep and hens. There was plenty of information on things to do locally

  • We had a lovely couple of days at Sage Cottage. Simone was very helpful and gave us a thorough introduction to the cottage and it’s facilities. The cottage had everything we needed including all the basic essentials. It was very comfortable and had a lovely large bathroom downstairs. Simone was available next door should we have wanted anything but otherwise left us to enjoy our stay. On her recommendation we tried the local fish and chip shop which was very good. Diss was only a 10 minute walk away. We will definitely return.

A charming Grade II listed house with three bedrooms and two receptions dating back to the 17th century and believed to have been extended in the 1850s by architect George Atkins, designer of the Corn Hall in Diss, which has recently reopened after a two year restoration. Please note: guests are required to have registered a Government Issued ID (passport, driving licence etc.) before booking, many thanks.
A home full of character equipped with the modern convenience of broadband wifi, a smart tv and bluray/dvd player. The spacious kitchen, with its wonderful old brick floor, comes with a washer/dryer (plus rotary line in the garden), double butler sink, walk-in pantry with fridge-freezer, five-hob gas range with electric grill and double oven, microwave, toaster, cafetiere and Tassimo machine, teapot and basic ingredients for cooking. The antique French country kitchen table will comfortably accommodate 6 people. Should you need extra space there is a larger table in the dining room. The kitchen leads out to the private 77ft back garden with well-planted beds and trees. There's a 4-seater bench situated in the perfect spot for evening refreshments and a large picnic table on the lawn for all day alfresco dining. A charcoal BBQ is available. The dining room features original floorboards, a mahogany table for 8 to 10 people, newly installed wood-burning stove and reading nook with Ikea sofabed. At the back of the house is a comfortable sitting room with shuttered picture window overlooking the garden. The two 3-seater sofas and armchair are perfect for relaxing, watching TV (dvds/blurays can be found in the dining room) or having an afternoon snooze. There's also a wood-burning stove to keep it cosy on a chilly day. Radiators are situated throughout the house and can be controlled individually for your convenience. Also on the ground floor is our brand new shower room with traditional sink, toilet, radiator/towel rail and floor-level waterfall shower complete with metro-tiled walls and hand-printed Moroccan cement floor tiles. Handy for older guests or those with difficulty using the stairs. Three bedrooms upstairs: a master with kingsize bed which overlooks the back garden, a smaller room with bunkbeds which can be accessed via the master bedroom as well as the landing so it can be used as either a private room or as part of a two-room suite with the master. And at the front of the house is a twin room. If requested, we can join the beds together to create a superking bed. The first floor bathroom has a bath, sink, corner shower unit, radiator and heated towel rail (it's a great room for drying clothes). There's a separate room on the same floor with toilet, sink and radiator. Bed linen, towels and extra blankets are provided. Note: We have two stair gates but our stairs are very old and not strong enough to hold the pressure, however we're happy to fit a stair gate in a doorway for you or you're welcome to fit them yourself when you arrive. Please watch your heads on the doorways upstairs! Some are particularly low. Wenlock House is ideal for a couple with three or four children or two couples with two or three children between them. Also great for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, family groups and groups of friends. All respectful guests are welcome.
Wenlock House is located in the centre of this historic market town, within easy walking distance of The Boudicca Way footpath to Norwich, TW Gaze Auction Rooms, The Corn Hall and just moments away from the market square and high street which leads to the Mere, park and playground and handy supermarkets. We're two doors along from the ancient parish church (walk through the graveyard to the shops and pub) and a couple of minutes stroll into the Heritage Triangle with it's boutique shops, delis, pubs and restaurants. Diss is the "gateway to the Waveney Valley" and an excellent base from which to explore the countryside and coastlines of Norfolk and Suffolk. If you want to stay local there is lots to do: The Corn Hall for theatre, film, dance and workshops for all, TW Gaze Auction House (viewings on Thursdays for the Friday auctions). Designer Makers opposite The Corn Hall to meet local artists and buy their wares. Diss leisure centre if you fancy a swim. Diss Mere for fishing, park and playground. Or take a walk along the Boudicca Trail... And there is a van in the market square that does fantastic chip butties for £1 every Friday and Saturday afternoon/evening. Highly recommend!
  • A very pleasant stay in a charming house, with a wonderful location. A perfect option for a family getaway. Abigail created the needed "home away from home" atmosphere, and we couldn't have enjoyed it more!

    Susana2017-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing stay at Abigail's beautiful home. Everything was as exactly as described, and the house is really well located in terms of shops and supermarkets. The garden is so, so beautiful. The house was very clean, and Abi had left all information we could've needed (about local things in the area, or house info). Abi was a very welcoming and efficient host, and I would definitely recommend Abi's home!

    Josefa2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • A comfortable home from home, within walking distance of everything you need. The garden is also a delight and if you are there in the colder months there are 2 wood burning stoves to light and enjoy. Diss is a charming small town that is easily explored with a fantastic auction every Friday. I hope to return very soon

    megan2017-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Felt like home from home with comfy sofas, wood burner and everything you could possibly need throughout the house. Bathrooms beautifully appointed, showers fab and beds very comfortable. Abigail went that extra mile in getting us a Christmas Tree and decorations and left us some welcome essentials on arrival. Bread/milk/butter/cookies and a bottle of bubbly. No hesitation in recommending. My only advise is if you are arriving in winter and very cold to ask if the central heating could be put on am if you are arriving in the late afternoon or evening.

    Jacqueline2017-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • Abigail's house is a great location you can walk to all the shops, park and local amenities, she is a great host, providing lots of little touches to make our stay really comfortable and easy, I would definitely recommend.

    Karen2017-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Just brilliant! Abigail has provided a great home in a terrific location! The house is really characterful and well-equipped with everything you could hope for - as well as a superb sunny garden where we enjoyed an al fresco breakfast. Abigail's communication before and during our stay was really good and made our stay very relaxed and enjoyable with lots of little considerate touches, such as setting up a stair gate for our son's safety. We were able to park across the road from the house in the evenings and in a car park a few yards away at other times. We enjoyed strolling through Diss with it's beautiful Mere and park - as well as trips to the beach at Southwold and the wonderful Bressington Steam and Gardens. There are a great selection of restaurants such as the warm and welcoming Saracen's Head in Diss, just a 5 minute walk from the house. We also enjoyed terrific meals at The Fox and Goose in Fressingfield and The Olive Tree in Ellingham. There is a strong sense of community in Diss; everyone we met (including Abigail) was warm, friendly and helpful. This is a wonderful part of the country for short breaks and holidays. We look forward to returning to explore further. Thank you, Abigail, for providing great hospitality and a superb home!

  • This is a really lovely house in the centre of Diss. I highly recommend it! Parking could be an issue if there for a whole week...but as we were only there for the weekend there was no problem.

    Christine2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage in Diss was perfect for us when we were visiting family over Christmas. A short walk into Diss with a couple of good pubs, a nice high street and a great Italian restaurant Puccini’s. We also enjoyed a show at the beautifully restored Corn Hall and long walks in the countryside. Abi was very quick at answering any questions we had and the cottage was both clean and comfortable. We hope to come back!

  • A lovely and convenient base to explore this beautiful area. There is plenty of space, a good layout and it is very peaceful. The verandah is a great bonus.

  • This is my third holiday rental with Airbnb, and my wife's second, and this is easily the nicest. For us everything being on one floor was a real plus. Sky t.v. and decent WiFi was a bonus. Beds - a double and a king - had nice bedding and were comfortable . The central heating also worked well. Lovely peaceful location with a shop about a mile or so away. The hosts pretty much left us to our own devices after greeting us, which was fine with us. All in all, a very enjoyable stay and highly recommended.

  • Joanne was very helpful and always quick to respond, thank you for allowing us to stay in your home.

  • Great place with home from requirements. They even put the heating on for us in advance, which my mum really appreciated. Also let us know where the local pubs were and the best thing was that the let us know the Flying Scotsman was going passed nearby that weekend, which was great to see. Thanks for a lovely stay. Would definitely come back!

    Maria2017-11-14T00:00:00Z
  • The host canceled this reservation 10 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.

  • Beautiful back-house with garden and spacious enough for a group of 4-6 people to stay comfortably. Only down side is that its a bit far away from anything, you need to own a car to move around.

  • We really enjoyed our stay in Tina's barn. She had thought of everything and the place was spotless. The decor was beautiful and the bed very comfortable. The shower was lovely and powerful, with fluffy white towels, and the bathrobes were a nice addition. We didn't have time to try the spa bath, but maybe next time! There was a good choice of food and drink for breakfast: cereal, porridge, fruit, brioche, yoghurt, tea, coffee, chocolate and orange juice. We will recommend it to our friends who live nearby in case they need to accommodate visitors in the future. Thank you very much!

  • Tina was so lovely and really nice about check in check out times. Pretty room and beautiful setting

    Lizzy2017-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • The care and attention given to the guests needs was second to none. Everything it said on the tin and much more. Very highly recommended.

  • This is a lovely rural property that has been refurbished absolutely beautifully, and the room is very comfortable. We really enjoyed our two-day stay and were made to feel very welcome by Tina and Andy. The two cats are also very sweet. Snowy is very easygoing and friendly straight away, but perhaps Rio isn't quite used to the idea of guests yet, couldn't quite get it across that strangers can be OK!

    Ed2017-04-09T00:00:00Z
  • We were so impressed with everything about our stay with Tina and would recommend this Airbnb to anyone. The room was perfect for us, the bed was ridiculously comfy and the mini fridge with breakfast for the morning was brilliant. A very well run place, we were surprised when we found out Tina hadn't run B&Bs in the past! We only met 2 out of the 3 cats but challenge anyone to meet Rio and Snowy and not want to adopt them. If you show them fuss then they'll say hello but otherwise they are happy in their basket so don't let them put you off if you aren't a cat lover! Our stay could not have been any better and hope to stay again!!

    Tom2017-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Very friendly reception, the converted barn has a romantic feel, yet still has (hidden out of sight) a fridge and even USB ports to charge mobile phones!

    joost2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Very comfortable bed; great shower. The USB charger socket in the bedroom is a great idea - no need to have to remember the plug. Snowy, the white cat made friends immediately and had cuddles a few times. The other 2 had cuddles the following morning. The shower & loo are downstairs, so remember to take pyjamas! Bathrobes are provided anyway, so it's not a disaster if you forget to pack them! :-) Breakfast was in the bedroom and provided a choice of cereal, porridge, yogurt, croissant, fruit. Fresh milk in the fridge for a cuppa, along with chocolate chip cookies went down very well on arrival. For the price and a comfortable bed for the night, you don't need anything more. Have recommended to friends around the corner, should they ever need overflow accommodation.

  • Very cosy and comfortable accommodation. Tina is a very friendly and helpful host and made us feel very welcome during our weekend stay. Lovely quiet location, but not too far from the local town of Diss.

I'm glad I did not have to use the comode though and that the wetroom in the main house is only a few meters away. Internet worked well and I took advantage of the tea kettle.

    Escape to the Country.....
If you like sloping brick floors, comfy sofas, exposed beams, wood burners, light, space and original features then you will like the Dairy. An annexe to a Tudor farmhouse it was converted in 2013 and is now a spacious 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom holiday home with a double height open plan living space on the ground floor. Children and dogs are very welcome. Egyptian cotton sheets, fresh towels and wifi provided (it's a pretty good connection - as much as you can guarantee these things - but do check with us first if you want to download films etc). There's a basket of logs for the fire and books and dvds; refreshments too so you can start to relax as soon as you arrive. Everything you might need to know about the Dairy is in the welcome manual and have a look at the airbnb guide which gives tips about shopping and local sightseeing activities too. If you prefer the human touch we are just next door and happy to help and to share what we know about the local area with you. In the middle of rural Suffolk we are: 20 minutes away from Diss, which has direct trains to London (90mins). 15 minutes away from Framlingham. A pretty market town (market on Tuesday and Saturday) with a lovely castle 25 minutes away from the coast: pebble beaches, sandy beaches, nature reserves, bustling seaside towns of Southwold with its pier, cafes and beach huts and Aldeburgh (40 mins drive away) with fresh fish and summer festivals. 25 minutes from Thetford forest. Bressingham steam museum, mid Suffolk light steam railway, the Owl and Camel sanctuary and Easton Farm Park are all in easy reach for family fun. As for getting around there are buses but we are in the country so you can go anywhere but it'll be a week before the bus returns! If you bring bikes we have an outbuilding that you can store them in and there is a reliable taxi service. We have a local store, a butcher and baker in the village a library, gym, swimming pool and tennis courts too - all within 5 minutes walk of the dairy. The village has 3 pubs, with two of them serving food as well. To make the most of your stay we recommend a car but if you are after a short getaway there is lots to do in a short walking distance of the Dairy and taxis at Diss railway station. KitchenFacilities: Dishwasher, Coffeemaker, Microwave, Fridge, Toaster, Double Oven, Hob,Grill. Washing machine and outside sink (for washing dogs or wellies) in next door outbuilding. Entertainment: LCD TV - Freeview with integrated DVD Player, Books, Games and DVDs, retro radio and Ipod dock. Courtyard garden: table and four chairs and a bench too. Highchair, Travel cot and toys available on request. Off street parking for 2 cars.

  • A lovely cottage, perfectly appointed with extremely helpful and welcoming hosts. Thank you!

  • We had a really lovely time in a beautiful house at short notice. The house is exactly as described and Kate and her family were really welcoming and made us feel at home. The fire was on when we arrived (quite late) and her daughter and our son become fast friends. We would very happily come again.

    Dapper2014-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • The dairy was delightful & quirky. We all travelled separately & found it easily as Kate left the tree lights on for us so we could find the right driveway in the dark. The dairy is renovated in a rustic homely style with Moroccan touches. It has a small kitchen area, dining table & cosy sofas next to a wood burner. We ate in for every meal & had everything we needed. The dairy is attached to the main house but feels very private - we knocked for Kate once when we had trouble lighting the fire (user error!) and she was happy to help. The dairy is on three floors & there are steep steps up to the double bedroom on the top floor. There are beams so if you are on the tall side then mind your head. It was quiet, peaceful & extremely clean. We took one trip out to Eye for supplies & found a quirky art centre called the bank which is well worth a visit. It was ideal for us & we would love to return.

  • A perfect base for our holiday. The Dairy is lovely, it has a lot of character but feels very comfortable and relaxed. The kitchen facilities were good and allowed us to cook real meals whilst enjoying the company of our family. We found the location to be good, quiet but also easy driving distance to local attractions. A very enjoyable stay and lovely hosts.

    Debbie2014-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Kate made us feel immediately at home. introducing us to the perfectly formed dairy with its gorgeous wonky floors and beautifully preserved features. Kates house adjoins the Dairy and her gorgeous hens, dog and cat also welcomed us in their own way. We totally relaxed; there are fields across the road for walking and a good pub a stones throw away. Aldeburgh on the coast was our fave day trip. You really are in the heart of a wonderful county -we couldn't have asked for more

    Danielle2014-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • The dairy is a lovely and rustic, clean, with everything you need for your stay. Kate was very warm and welcoming. The surrounding area is rural and close enough for a day at the coast. We had a lovely break.

    Jo2017-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • The Dairy totally exceeded our expectations, such a beautiful cottage in peaceful surroundings. We stayed the night of our of wedding and Kate made sure we had everything we needed for a proper breakfast the next morning. We highly recommend The Dairy and hope to be back one day.

  • We enjoyed a two night break, during Easter holiday. We liked the bedrooms and bathroom, all very quaint and well kept. The chickens often wandered past the front door and the dairy was full of character. We had all we needed, a kind welcome pack, logs for the fire and well heated rooms, well kitted kitchen and we cooked dinner, etc. with ease. We walked the dog from the house on long scenic paths. Southwold was 30 mins away. Thank you for an enjoyable and relaxing stay.

The house where I live has a large lounge and kitchen. Airbnb bedroom is downstairs and is en-suite. New power shower fitted July 2016. Plenty of off-road parking. I have one shy but friendly cat. If you have any food allergies or intolerances please let us know at the time of booking. Roydon has a petrol station. The White Hart public house is within walking distance. Close to Bressingham Steam Museum; Banham Zoo and Snetterton race track. Diss rail station is 3 miles away.
Very quiet neighbourhood. Petrol station (with limited groceries) and pub close by. Three supermarkets, plus pubs and restaurants etc. in Diss (2 miles away).
  • Jane is an amazing host. I've stayed with her several times this year. Great room, ensuite and facilities. She also puts up with my late arrivals and early starts. Will be back !

  • We had a wonderful stay at Jane's house. She is the best host and looked after us so well. It's a lovely large room with it's own en-suite. We can thoroughly recommend a trip here.

  • A beautifully quiet rural spot with a lovely room. Jane was very welcoming, accommodated my delayed arrival, and provided a good breakfast! The extras provided in the room were appreciated too, from towels to a hairdryer. Overall a very pleasant stay, easy to reach from nearby Diss, and would recommend.

  • I stayed with Jane over the weekend as I was attending a local steampunk event "BresSteam" and couldn't be fussed with the driving back and forth from Ipswich each day. It was also my first Airbnb stay. Jane was very helpful and friendly from the moment I made my booking, and contacted me again a week before the date to give me directions and a contact number. On the day my morning was not going as planned, again Jane was very helpful and understanding when I said I'd be a bit later than expected. When I arrived (it was very easy to find), it's a lovely quiet rural location just as described, with plenty of room for parking. Jane and her family were very friendly, she showed me around and we had a lovely chat over a cuppa before I had to head out. I slept really well, and the cooked breakfast was very yummy. Nothing was a problem for Jane, and it was a really lovely first Airbnb experience. Thank you Jane. If I attend BresSteam again next year, I will stay here again!

  • Staying with Jane was easy and enjoyable from start to finish. Jane provided useful directions to the property, which is located in a lovely, quiet area. She was friendly and welcoming, and made sure that I had everything I needed during my stay, including a delicious breakfast. Jane was interesting and easy to talk to. I'm looking forward to staying here again in the future.

  • Ideal place to stay when visiting Diss. There are lots of interesting places in the area. Jane was very welcoming and relaxed. She allowed us maximum flexibility in coming and going ,giving good advice on the local area. Everything you could possibly need was provided, even down to a torch to light the way back from the local pub along the unlit roads ! I would highly recommend her home.
