  • Thanks to Minh for a special experience. Arrived in the dark and was welcomed by Minh and an excited dog with an inquisitive nose!!! We were shown to the chalet and everything was explained. Last we saw of Minh til we left next day. Ate in the pub up the road which was very good and returned to a warm cosy chalet! Excellent value will definitely return in summer when it is possible to get around the 10 acres without a canoe. Great find!!

    Tim2015-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I had a lovely weekend in Minh's garden cabin. Minh was a very warm and generous guest while it was nice to have the privacy of the chalet with it's own bathroom and TV. How amazing to wake up to peacocks and a value-for-money base from which to explore the peak district.

Hi there. I've a single room (with lock) in Disley, by the Peak District (15 min drive) & Lyme Park (5 min drive); and a train from Stockport (10 mins) and Manchester (30-40 mins). The room comes with free parking, and use of the lounge, bathroom, kitchen and garden. Disley itself is a village filled with nice pubs and restaurants, and nicer people. It's very scenic with many great walks. If you've any queries whatsoever, just let me know. I'll be happy to help! Many thanks, Zach
The space is a recently-decorated single bedroom with a lock. The room contains a desk, mirror, clothes rail, lamp and the ever-popular WiFi details. Towels are available upon request. If you'd like anything else during your stay, let me know and I will do my best to facilitate.
  • Met Zach at his Brother's which worked out for both of us but he explained the basics and sure enough when it came to letting myself in, things were a breeze. Communication from the moment I booked was superb. The location isn't the best but he does state this on the notes when you arrive but for me, it was perfect, just up the road my friend's house and only about 35/40 minutes from the Etihad stadium. Would use again.

    Jack2016-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great time in Zachs house and everything was really easy going. He even brought the key to my former guest house and provided maps of the area. The place is a perfect starting point to visit the peak district for an unbeatable price.

    Daniel2016-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Zach gave me a nice welcome, and then I was there on my own for the two evenings of my stay. The house was very comfortable. I was doing a course in south Manchester, and Disley was ideally suited for me to both drive in for a concert in manchester one night (about a 30 min drive, I think) and take a short trip into the Peak district the next night. Disley seemed like it had a look of decent pubs and restaurants if I'd be stuck for anything to do.

    Nick2016-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay. Zach wasnt home while I was there but he still made me feel welcome.

    Julie2017-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Zach's was great. He was very welcoming and certainly knew a lot about the local area. A real down to earth guy who made you feel at home and a really nice and clean place to stay. Very open and friendly and always quick to answer any questions you may have. We bonded quite quickly as we shared the same sense of humour. It's been really nice to meet you Zach and let's keep in touch!

    Mark2016-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • Zach wasn't there the night of my stay but he was more than helpful with directions and information regarding both getting to his place as well as my trip to Lyme Hall. Very convenient if you plan on visiting Lyme Hall or the surrounding park!

    Harry2016-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks for hosting me to your house Jack. It made me feel like home...

    Nick2016-11-14T00:00:00Z
  • Zach was very easy to communicate with and gave thorough instructions on how to find the place. He wasn't actually there while I was staying but he was quick to respond to questions and the house was really clean and tidy. I really enjoyed my stay!

Disley is a village on the edge of the Peak District, a 20-minute drive to Buxton. The village has a number of wine bars pubs and restaurants. Also a 45-minute drive into the center of Manchester. There is a train station in Disley and a very good bus service connecting with Manchester and Buxton. You can be in open country side within 10 - the 15-minute walk.
MY house is a modern split level house which has been, my and my family's home for thirty years. I have two double bedrooms that I let, each has a double bed. I also have a travel cot.
A quiet neighborhood, close to open country side. The "Rams Head" inn c.1650 at the centre of the village was formerly a lodge belonging to the Lyme Park estate. It became a main coaching stop on the Manchester to London route. The Rams head is now a restaurant and pub. Lyme Park is not located in the civil parish of Disley, but in the civil parish of Lyme Handley. However, it is sufficiently close to be associated with Disley. The hall was used by the BBC as a setting in its adaptation of Pride and Prejudice.
  • Mary is an amazing hostess! Her place was beautiful and clean, we had all the amenities we needed. We came to Disley for walks and there were many options to choose from. Mary also provided a map of recommended routes in the room. Her house is only 10 mins from the town center, so if you're looking to eat out while you're in Disley, you're not too far from the restaurants in town. Her house is also only 15 mins from the train station and the walk goes quite quickly. We enjoyed talking with Mary the evening we stayed and she prepared an amazing breakfast for us in the morning. Mary goes above and beyond as a hostess, we highly recommend staying with her!

    Lara2015-11-16T00:00:00Z
  • Mary is very pleasant and made us most welcome. The home is large and spacious and the room is beautiful.

    Peter2016-04-12T00:00:00Z
  • This is a little gem of a place with an excellent host. After a long journey we were greeted by Mary who welcomed us with open arms. The room was very cosy and we were supplied with tea and chocolate, along with maps and advice for the area, which we took full advantage of. On waking up I could smell freshly baked bread and it turned out Mary was a very good cook and had baked fresh bread which went down a treat for breakfast. Would definitely recommend Mary's airbnb for anyone who wants a warm and friendly stay.

    Clara2015-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • The house is located in disley, town half an hour by train from buxton. It is a beautiful well decorated house that make you feel like at home. Mary gave me a warm wellcome and a great breakfast!! I do recommended!

  • Wonderful place :) lovely and quiet, near to village.

    Victoria2017-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Nice place, nice lady. Enjoyed Mary's home made scones with jam & cream. We were staying just the two nights to attend grand nephew's christening in nearby High Lane village; very convenient by car or even bus or local taxi (£5) if one takes a beer. Will recommend to any future vicarage "overflows". Mike & Linda

    Mike2017-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Tolles Haus, tolles kleineres, sauberes Zimmer. Das Badezimmer war gleich nebenan und auch sauber. Mary war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Wir würden definitiv wieder kommen.

  • Choice no. 1 for accommodation in the Peak District! If you want a 5-star experience, look no further. Exquisite house, treated like royalty, great location close to everything! Nothing would compare- the cost could easily be double for the quality of stay provided! Would recommend and 100% would stay again. Like a true holiday home.

  • This was the second time my son and I stayed here. It's a really quiet location which is a welcome change from London. It's perfect for two people who want to explore the Peak District and have a cosy, private, clean and quiet space to be based. And Marnie is lovely too - very helpful and kind.

    Jonathan2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • A spotlessly clean, comfortable and interesting hideaway with lots of thoughtful extras provided by the host. Beautiful gardens and tranquillity in a lovely residential area so close to Lyme Park and in walking distance of excellent eating places in Disley.

    Sian2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • My sister and I had a really lovely time at Marnie's. The room is exceptionally comfortable, cosy and well-equipped. Everything you could want is provided, and the bedroom, kitchenette and bathroom were sparklingly clean. Although we didn't get to meet Marnie in person, she was always very helpful via text and quick to respond. Her friend Jane who checked us in was also very kind and welcoming. The location is perfect for visiting Lyme Park and doing a bit of walking around Disley - we managed to get everywhere without a car/public transport. Would absolutely recommend Marnie's to everyone, and hope to stay there again myself in future!

    Roxanne2017-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot say enough good things about my stay. The place is idyllic, kept in excellent condition by Marnie and Ian. It is secluded and safe but still within easy walking distance to Disley and Lyme Park. Marnie and Ian were kind and generous, and had stocked the space with snacks, drinks, games, and supplies for various hobbies (guitar, calligraphy, etc.). This is the perfect spot to recharge. I would offer it with my highest recommendation to anyone who inquires.

    Arkady2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Marnie's place is a real gem! It looks even better than the photos here - really clean, comfy and cosy, with lots of interesting and beautiful decorations. Marnie is a fantastic host as well. She gave us plenty of instruction on getting here, warmly welcomed us, and left a number of thoughtful things around the place: milk and scones, umbrellas, and stuffed toys to keep our little girl happy and occupied. Outside is a beautifully maintained garden plus a peaceful and quiet neighbourhood. It is so convenient to visit Lyme Park, which is a fabulous place for families. Overall we thoroughly enjoy our weekend at Marnie's and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Disley or around!

    Jing2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I had a great time at The Hara - the room was really cosy, Marnie was an excellent host (even picking us up from the train station when we couldn't get a taxi) and the surrounding countryside was beautiful. We went on a nice walk round Lyme National Trust park, the entrance to which was only 5 minutes walk from The Hara, and had some lovely meals out at the pubs and restaurants of Disley. I'd recommend The Dandy Cock for beer and Mr Chong for food. All in all we had a wonderful time and would definitely come again.

    Dylan2016-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place to stay with some excellent restaurants, sites to visit and a stones throw from Lyme Park and Manor. Also only 30mins away from centre of Manchester. The apartment is decorated to the highest of standards and Marnie makes you feel welcome during your stay. Couldn't recommend this place enough!

    Connor2017-04-14T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place to stay, comfy, cosy with all the amenities you could want, including fluffy robes and towels, wonderful thoughtful little touches to welcome a tired traveller and very comfy bed (don't forget to pull it out a bit if you want a bit more head space!). The room is a complete living space with toaster, kettle, mini fridge and microwave so it has all you could want for a comfortable stay! The garden is beautiful and relaxing and the location is great- we did the whole trip via public transport which was very easy with a bus stop at the end of the lane or a train station in Disley if you need. Fantastic spot for visiting Lyme Park just at the end of the lane, and beautiful walks and countryside all around. Disley village also has a couple of lovely pubs and restaurants and a Coop shop so all you need for a relaxing getaway!

A beautiful overgrown country cottage. Parts of it date back to 1680 so it's steeped with history and character. It has lovely big windows so despite its age and thick walls it remains lovely and light through out. It is a gorgeous higgle-de-piggledy house in a great location.
A historic grade 2 listed charming cottage. The location is ideal for country walks, mountain biking and access to Lyme Park and the Kinder Scout. All beds are made up with Egyptian cotton sheets and down duvets (synthetic available on request). A bath towel and hand towel are provided . Use of sitting room, kitchen, and garage for bike storage. Free parking is available on the street or on the driveway if room. Pricing listed is per bedroom per night. There are up to 3 rooms available. Please enquire for pricing for extra rooms. We are open and friendly towards group bookings. For any other arrival requirements please do ask. The local Disley train station is a 2 minute walk from the cottage.
Disley is a beautiful country village, with four pubs, three restaurants, a great wine bar 'Frankie's' and the Italian 'Sazzo's' is spectacular, all in short walking distance. Utterly spoilt for things to do if you enjoy the great outdoors and country life. We have a bundle of leaflets about the local area and are more then happy to suggest activity's or places to see and things to do in the area.
  • Fantastic hosts, great breakfast and lovely room. We will definitely book again.

  • Lovely historical old cottage, with a lovely young hostess! Thanks Lizzie

    Corinne2017-04-29T00:00:00Z
  • We were visiting the area to attend a family wedding and Lizzie and Matt's place was perfect for us - very comfortable bed and room with everything we needed for getting ready, including large mirror, magnifying mirror and good lighting! They were very flexible about breakfast, providing a good choice including perfectly poached eggs. The house is in close walking distance to pubs, shops and restaurants and the railway station. There is plenty of parking space in the quiet road. Lizzie and Matt are very knowledgeable about cycling and walking routes in this beautiful area. I can't think of anything we could have wanted for, but if there had been I am sure they would have sorted it out, nothing was too much trouble and they are easy and natural hosts.

    Deborah2017-04-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay in Elizabeth's comfortable home. She made us feel very welcome.

    Christine2017-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was lovely and a sanctuary for travelers. The room and en suite were spacious and beautifully appointed with touches that set a lodging apart from others--very high-quality bed and bath linens, plenty of pillows and good bedside lighting (for those of us who read in bed : ), a wardrobe and bureau so that we could completely unpack, shelving and tables near the bed, and multiple rooms downstairs where we could relax, use the wifi, and chat with other guests. The breakfast was incredibly generous, and the weekend hot breakfast, especially, was delicious. When we checked in, Matt was on his way out the door for a trip himself, but he took time to show us every detail, tell us about the village, and make sure we were well settled before he headed out. Everything was so close, we didn't move our car the entire time we were there. The house was a little chilly in damp, April weather so I would recommend a pair of warm slippers, : ) but other than that it is a beautiful house and home that we strongly recommend to anyone traveling in this area.

    Ellen2017-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is an amazing spot to stay! Can't recommend highly enough, due to the genuine hospitality offered by Lizzie & Matt. Fantastic breakfasts, great conversations & the best welcome ever.

Potters Hey Lodge is a hidden gem near the village of Disley. The property is situated in a semi rural, private and peaceful location, offering stunning panoramic views over the countryside. It is also just a 10-15 minute walk or 3-5 minute bus journey to Disleys pubs, shops and restaurants. This property is great for walkers with the start of many walking routes on its doorstep, including National Trust Lyme Park. This is a perfect base to explore the surrounding area.
Guests can enjoy full access to the paddock/field/large parking area, however please note one of the owners will use the Lodge parking area, whilst respecting the guests privacy. Our visitors (family and friends) will be asked to use our second drive/other parking area (away from the Lodge), so guests are not disturbed. We welcome dogs with open arms but we just ask that they stay in the lounge/kitchen area. Dog sitting is available on request, at an extra cost, you may want to go out for the day or want to go and eat at Disley's, one of four resteraunt's.
The Lodge is just a 10-15 minute walk or 3-5 minute bus journey to Disleys pubs, shops and restaurants. This property is great for walkers with the start of many walking routes on its doorstep, including a route that takes you straight into National Trust Lyme Park to experience some breathtaking views. Kinder Scout is also another popular walking route in the area amongst many more Peak District towns and villages including Buxton, Eyam, Bakewell, Castleton and Edale are all just around a 30-40 minute car journey away. You can also leave your car at the Lodge and walk just 3-5 minutes to Newtown train station which offers a direct service to Manchester, Buxton, Disley etc.
  • A comfortable lodge with lovely views of the hills overlooking New Mills and with some great walks on the doorstep. A good venue for exploring Manchester too, only 30 minutes away by train. And Bev was a super host!

  • A lovely location to move around the High Peaks with lots of walks within a few miles .Very dog friendly with enclosed garden and gated entrance .A public footpath is just outside the entrance. Accommodation was very comfortable ,the host was very attentive and we were well looked after during our stay. And it's always good to have tea ,coffee ,milk and other essentials provided. Shops and pubs are nearly a mile away in Disley or New Mills along a main road.

  • A fantastic home and a fascinating place to stay. Extraordinarily exclusive with its own private gated driveway and wonderful vistas into a rural setting, while within easy walking distance to coffee shops and supermarkets. The hosts are very kindly and generous, even providing a new clothesline for us. All was immaculately clean and well-equipped; the shower is a properly plumbed one with excellent hotwater, which is still rare in England it seems. The house easily accommodate two generations; we were traveling with two adult nieces. New Mills is a great place to explore, with lots of interesting heritage trails and canals; lots of good information has been made available by the hosts. A wonderful stay!

    Deborah2016-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • The lodge is a cozy little place, ideally located to explore the Peak District. The place is quiet and faces beautiful fields. Great for kids. Bev is a great hostess and helped us with everything, from logs for the fire to where to take the kids in the area.

  • Bev, our host, was so lovely and helpful. Accommodation is spotlessly clean with everything you need to have a lovely break. The kitchen is well equipped and the bathroom is very modern with a monsoon shower and large "L" shaped bath. Beds are comfortable and wifi access is good. In the lounge there are folders containing loads of information on the area, which was really useful. The apartment is very nicely located and within easy walking distance to Disley, New Mills and Lyme Park. Would thoroughly recommend as a beautifully quiet and relaxing get away. Bev goes out of her way to make sure you're happy and have everything you need without being intrusive. Five stars! Thanks for having us!

  • Bev and Ian were very freindly throughout, Bev came to meet us on arrival even though we got there at 10pm and checked several times we were all ok. There was wine, bread, butter and milk left for us as well as a few other essential food items

  • We had a fantastic two night stay - the purpose built accommodation is so well put together and comfortable. Everything you could want is there - kitchen and bathroom both immaculate. Communication from Beverley was amazing, the house is situated on a track but is gated and your neighbours are two beautiful horses! Couldn't recommend more, will have to find another reason to come up North!

    Emily2017-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • We used Beverly's Lodge as a base to explore some of the lovely houses and estates in the area including Lyme Park and Chatsworth! The place is decently sized and very comfortable with everything you may need for a stay. We had a rented car and had plenty of room to park- it was also an easy drive to enter the property. The surrounding gardens and fields are very picturesque including the lovely neighbours of both Beverly and family and two lovely horses. We found the beds to be very comfortable(albeit a bit squeaky) and it was an ease to heat and cool the place. Overall we were well looked after and there was nothing that could be said as a major issue. Thanks to Beverly and we will be recommending to friends and possibly return in the future.

Windgather is situated within Lyme Park, a 1300acre Deer Park which was made famous as "Pemberley" in the BBC dramatisation of Pride and Prejudice. A perfect base to explore the Peak District on foot or cycle. The views over the cheshire plains are amazing and the great outdoors is right on the doorstep, literally. Windgather is great for that luxury, romantic getaway from the rat race, If arriving by car be aware the track is bumpy, so please take it slow and steady.
A private double en suite room with a balcony, 360 * views over Cheshire and beyond. Wet room shower and wc Tea and coffee facilities in the room Sky TV and workspace, Continental breakfast included.
Views, views, views and the amazing walking, wildlife and cycling. Oh and did I mention the views. Windgather is ideally placed to explore historic Buxton, the Peak District and Derbyshire. We are only 30 minutes from Manchester by train. Lyme Hall is famous as the film location for the BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. To be honest I have been looking daily for Mr Darcy but he hasn't been spotted yet !! Please check directly on the Lyme Park web site for opening times and special events. Especially out of season the Hall is NOT open everyday.
  • If you love views, beautiful English countryside, warm and fascinating hosts with a great fresh scrabbled egg breakfast and good coffee this is the place for you. Heather offered to share their family evening meal which was great.

  • I can't recommend Heather and her home enough! My whole stay was perfect, from the room, to the breakfast, to her beautifully situated home right in Lyme Park. Heather went above and beyond in so many ways: picking me up and dropping me off at the train station (even moving her schedule around to be able to drop me off), including me in family dinners, providing maps and recommendations for walks in the park, and being so welcoming I felt more like I was visiting a friend than staying at an airbnb. I hope to be able to come back, but until then, I'll be telling everyone I know to come stay with Heather in her wonderful home!

  • Heather and her family were all lovely, the room and ensuite were very clean and comfortable, and the location was beautiful!

  • Heather, was wonderful & made me very comfortable. My bedroom & ensuite was perfect. 'Windgather' set in a beautiful manicured garden is a totally awesome place to stay, the views over Manchester in the distance & and to the north & south-fabulous. Direct access on Lyme Park Estate, made walking delightful through woods & fields - not to mention the amazing gardens & house of Lyme. I wished my stay was longer. Thank you Heather & Darren I enjoyed my stay totally.

  • My experience in Windgather was brilliant. This was one of my best Airbnb housing and I would probably book again if I come back to England. Host Heather was so kind, beautiful, flexible and a great person. I was lucky to meet her and her family.

  • Heather is an amazing host and an excellent communicator. She is very accommodating (especially when my flight was delayed, making a late checkin, but her directions were spot on and nothing was a drama) and makes her home your home. I highly recommend joining her and her family for dinner, which was absolutely delicious. Her pets are gorgeous and very well behaved. Loved my tranquil little stay very much!

  • David was very welcoming and his home was very nice. He went out of his way to help us find a laundrette for our washing which we appreciated. His directions to find the house were accurate and helpful as relying on a sat nav takes you in a different direction. The room was spacious and comfortable as described. We enjoyed our chat over breakfast.

  • This was our first foray into using Air B+B it exceeded our expectations. A very welcoming host. Helpful with our arrival time-we were delayed by traffic. David gave us good info regarding places to eat. Overall the situation of the home was ideal. A much nicer location than staying at an out of town budget hotel. The bed was comfy and the shower worked properly-that's a plus! The breakfast was just right, plenty of toast, croissants and fresh coffee. We had a good chat and found we had a lot in common. David even filled our flask with boiling water for us as we departed. What more could we want? Would definitely stay there again, it suited our needs admirably.

The rooms are of a good size, well decorated with enough storage. David was very accommodating and we had a nice chat at breakfast. I would recommend him and would stay again.

We want to share our clean, light, and cosy guest room with you! We live in a townhouse on a quiet lane in Marple, a short walk to quaint Market Street, and close to two train station with access to the city center. There are hundreds of miles of footpaths just outside our door, making this a perfect place for nature lovers. My husband and I are world travelers and love meeting and hosting people of all backgrounds. We hope you'll be comfortable in our home!
We live on a charming row of townhouses in Marple, just a two minute walk to the heart of town. Your room is at the back of the house, overlooking the back garden, and is very quiet, with beautiful natural light coming in the large window. I'll leave fresh drinking water and glasses for you, as well as some local guides to footpaths and wildlife in the area. There are spare hangers in the wardrobe for your belongings, a space for your luggage, and a laundry bag on the door for your soiled clothes. Our lounge is the perfect place to curl up with a book or to put on some soft music and enjoy a glass of wine - you can hook your phone up to our stereo system and stream music if you wish.
Marple, though small, is a treasure trove of unique experiences. We are home to a theater, a cinema, and plenty of fantastic restaurants. We are happy to make our recommendations. Perhaps the best thing about Marple (in our view) is the miles and miles of footpaths that are right outside our door. We're happy to loan you a map and give our recommendations for hikes or trail runs. We are also cyclists, so if you happen to bring your bike, we can recommend some rides for you too.

Quaint and tastefully renovated 2 bedroom apartment, full of history and charm. It is one of the oldest buildings in New Mills and I'm lead to believe from my history lessons in school that this stoney building housed the cotton spinners from the mills back in the late 1700s! Just a stones throw from the Torrs Millennium Walk and the Sett Valley Trail. All amenities such as Sainsburys, Boots, The Crispy Cod Chippy, Local Pubs and Transport Links are all within a short walking distance.
2 bedroom apartment, private entrance into a small hall, opening up to a large living room with a 2 and a 3 seater sofa. Smart TV and DVD player and a small selection of DVDs are provided. Fully fitted kitchen and dining room table that seats 6 persons. Fridge freezer, microwave, washing machine and all other appliances expected in a generic kitchen are all available for use. Bathroom, Shower and bath, towels, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner are there for your use if you so require. Master bedroom, double bed with tv, wardrobe and drawers. Second bedroom, single bed and drawers. Exterior, a raised decking area, with bench and chimila for guests use. Parking, a large public car park is next to the apartment, you may also if feeling brave, park outside through the tunnel, however I take no responsibility, should you damage your vehicle in the process.

The 'Little House' will make an ideal base for walkers, cyclists and anyone who just wants to relax and take in the beautiful Peak District views. Maybe take a well earned midweek or weekend break. Maybe use 'The Little House' as a hiking / camping base or for conducting business in and around Manchester, Sheffield, Stockport or Buxton. The Peak District National park is only a stones throw away and Manchester, Stockport, Buxton and Sheffield can be easily accessed from nearby railway stations.
The 'Little house' is a small semi detached stone cottage, originally part of a farmhouse and small farming community, built in 1840. It has a small front and back garden. The back garden has amazing views of the Peak Districts stunning countryside which can be admired from a small picnic bench in the garden. There is a small 'lean to' at the rear of the house which provides storage for bikes, camping gear and muddy boots. Inside is the lounge, which is equipped with Sky TV, NowTV, fast unlimited Wireless Broadband, a high quality music system which can be connected to your phone or laptop...quietly of course! For the occasional rainy day or lazy day at home we also have a PS3 and a selection of games. The lounge leads to a small well equipped kitchen, with all the usual facilities, including a microwave, toaster, kettle, fridge freezer, washing machine, and of course hot and cold running water. There is a small drop-leaf dining table in the kitchen, which can seat 3 people. Stairs then lead to the upstairs and the 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom. The main bedroom has a pine double bed, the second bedroom has a single bed. There is sufficient storage in both bedrooms for clothes etc. The bathroom has a bath and electric shower.
Furness Vale is a small rural community with good transport links into Manchester, Sheffield, Buxton and the Peak District. The nearby Peak Forest canal connects to the Cheshire ring in one direction and heads towards Buxworth Basin in the other. The location is ideal for walkers & cyclists, with anything from the flat canal towpath which is only a 5 minute walk away, to the more challenging Kinder Scout and Pennine way. Nearby 'must visits' include Buxton (10 miles), Castleton (10 miles), Hayfield (4 miles), Bakewell (25 miles), & Lyme Park (4 miles). Locally there are pubs and restaurants in Whaley Bridge, Hayfield and Disley, or if you prefer the city lights then Manchester is a 40 min train ride away. The nearest Supermarket is Tescos in Whaley Bridge, about a 5 minute drive away
  • Jonathan is a very friendly and welcoming host. The little house is very cosy. I would certainly recommend it.

  • The views from the back of the house are lovely and Jonathan was very helpful in guiding me to it and showing me around. We couldn't work the hob or the remote controls, probably down to my rubbish tech skills, but the beds were really comfy, the shower was great and the whole place felt incredibly well looked-after and welcoming. Highly recommend this house. Thanks!

  • We had a great time staying at Jonathan's place. He made check in really easy for us. I don't think the photos do the place justice! Very cosy and lovely views out the back. Around half a mile from the train station which made going for a meal and drinks in Whaley Bridge (or Buxton if you want to go further) really easy. Thank you, we would definitely stay again!

  • This little apartment is a gem it has a little courtyard, feels very private and homely and was spotlessly clean and very well stocked with equipment. Right in the center of New Mills as a single mum with two young boys it was a great choice with a shop just across the road and lovely countryside all around the area. The children loved all the ladybird things to look at and play with. Thank you Richard, we hope to return.

Spectacular views over Kinder Scout and the Peak District from one room and over peaceful fields from the other. This is a smart terraced cottage, cosy, stylish and with vintage charm. Real fires, flagged floors and a pretty garden. 5 mins from village centre, stations, and decent pubs. Festivals, music/art events abound! Occasionally I can let the whole house.
The house had been unchanged for 100 years when I made it my home and over the years I've tried to add 'modern conveniences' sympathetically without disrupting the old charm of how I found it. The house therefore has many original features such as, flagged and wooden floors, cast-iron fireplaces in all the rooms and some of the original wallpaper, but it does now have a washing machine in the cellar, a power shower and central heating! The bedrooms are spacious and very peaceful and on the same floor as the shared bathroom. The blue room is quiet and cosy and has a view across the field at the back.
I'm lucky to have lovely neighbours- the terrace I live on and surrounding folk are great and always there to help if you get stuck! Our local 'The Pack Horse' (2 minutes up the road) has fantastic panoramic views of Kinder and the peaks from its cobbles. Real ales, hearty meals and open all day most days. There are lots of other fab gastro pubs and bars round here too. New Mills is a fantastic town. It is home to Swizzels 'LoveHearts' famous sweetie factory but also has the most wonderful walks on the doorstep, Hayfield (at the foot of Kinder) is 3 miles away & the Sett Valley trail also joins the Goyt Way. There are quaint villages, pretty churches, teashops, potholing, caverns and crags within easy reach, either by foot, train or car. Torrside microbrewery in the village regularly opens its doors for festivities too. We are in an area of spectacular natural beauty and the town stands above a natural rocky gorge -The Torrs Riverside Park - the park 'under the town' - is a superb place to walk, picnic and learn about the natural and industrial history of the area. Vast 'hidden' viaducts, canals and waterways and free outdoor rock-climbing! New Mills is a Mecca for cyclists & horse riders and is also a centre for artists, designers & craftspersons, hosting lots of Art & Music events throughout the year. The gym and leisure centre is 2 minutes away from the house. We are in easy distance of Bakewell, Chatsworth House, Lyme Park, Haddon Hall, Buxton, Edale and many other attractions. Manchester is 30 mins away on a direct train and is a brilliant thriving and cosmopolitan city.
  • New Mills is a village in the most wonderful, picturesque countryside, so you're already on a winner before you start. And then you get to the house which has been skillfully restored and lovingly nudged into the 21st century so it's comfortable without losing any of its vintage charm. Then each room has been filled with treasures, trinkets and curiosities to pique your interest and spark your imagination. It's a visual wonderland - but not overdone! This is all before you meet Chris, your most amenable host and Owen, both of whom could not be more friendly, helpful and interesting. My 10 year old son and I were instantly made to feel at home and wished we'd allowed for a longer stay than the three nights we'd allocated, such was the beauty and comfort of the environment and the amiableness of our host. Couldn't recommend it more highly.

    Sophia2017-06-05T00:00:00Z
  • My second stay -and every bit as good as the first, Chris is a great host

    nigel2017-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I spent two nights here for a wedding in the area and Chris' place was perfect for our stay. We were made to feel incredibly welcome and at home.

  • Beautiful house very friendly. And can't wait to stay again soon

  • Quick response to availability request. Helpful responses to communications. Exceptionally friendly welcome and hospitality. Beautifully furnished and decorated, lots of vintage artefacts, tasteful and interesting. Immaculately clean, comfortable bed, warm, spacious room. Hot, powerful shower. A most enjoyable experience: strongly recommended!

  • Chris is a wonderful host. Super helpful and welcoming. His home is cleverly decorated and stocked with good reads and healthy food. Everything is clean and tidy. Comfy, cozy cottage where you get a good night sleep. Coming from California, we were pleasantly surprised how close we are to "Pemberly" aka Lyme Park.

    Janet2017-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • Chris is an exceptional host! He was very welcoming and made us feel at home in his lovely cottage. (Suggested hiking routes over a glass of vino.) Our room was very lovely and the good weather meant we could enjoy our breakfast in the garden with peak views. We would definitely stay with Chris again when heading for the peaks!

    Sahra2016-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • What a Gem! Chris's house was just perfect. He came to the station to pick us up, he invited us to the terrace's crayfish party, fed us crumble, wine and kept us entertained. We nicked loads of quirky ideas from his house and we especially loved the art collection. We shall hopefully bring our children back one day to get their judgement. Go to New Mills and stay with Chris! We hope to be back

  • Great weekend in the Peak District. Pam was a brilliant host, very easy going and made us feel extremely welcome. Lovely house and bedroom. Highly recommend. One of my AirBnB highlights so far. A*

    ken2016-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Pam was an amazing host. She is a wonderful person, full of vim, and really interesting to chat to. I was in the area doing some walking and she was super flexible with times (I was on public transport) and even let me have a shower in the afternoon after my walk. I can't recommend staying here highly enough. It's a lovely home too.

    Daniel2016-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Pam is a warm, and welcoming host, very friendly and interesting to talk to with helpful recommendations of where to eat and go out around the area. Her house is located in a quiet peaceful area with lots of free parking nearby. The guest room is large and comfortable with all needed amenities, bathroom is spotless and looks brand new. She provided a nice contintental spread for breakfast and let us help ourselves to anything around which was very kind of her. The unexpected highlight of our stay was Milo - he is the sweetest fluffiest little puppy and will melt your heart (we wished we could take him home with us!). This was definitely a great find as regular visitors to this area and hope to be guests of Pam and Milo again very soon!

  • We had a lovely time on the boat and was pleased to say that we managed to do a couple of trips on the canal. Paul was very good and told us what to do and expect. Would love to do it again

  • I had a wonderful stay on Paul's narrow boat. It's a perfect, leisurely and relaxing way to spend a holiday cruising through the canals along side beautiful rolling hills, and through small towns where you get a chance to try plenty of homemade pub food and great beers. I'd highly recommend to anyone interested in giving it a go!

A delightful end-terrace cottage in the village of Furness Vale. Cosy and welcoming with all mod cons including WIFI. The village has a good pub with eating facilities and a Chinese restaurant. Both the railway station and The Peak Forest Canal are at the bottom of the road enabling lovely journeys/walks to New Mills,Whaley Bridge or Buxton. A great base to relax and explore the Peak District.

Comfortable self contained bedsit in a pleasant semi -rural area. Close to Manchester via rail (Manchester Piccadilly 23 minutes). Plenty of excellent cafes and pub restaurants within 10 minutes walking (Marple Bridge). Many others listed below. Immediate access to the countryside. You can walk for miles from the front door and we are very near to Peak District National Park. Approx. 20 mins drive to Hayfield.
We offer a double bed, plus en-suite shower/WC and kitchenette, fridge, and TV. We have wifi access via sockets and cable. The mobile phone signal is good. Everyone who stays here remarks on the peace and quiet. Note we also have a futon that would accomodate small people. They are welcome; we are parents and grandparents.
Mellor is a very desirable place to live - a wonderful mix of urban and rural. There are a fair number of actors, musicians and writers here. A few minutes walk down the hill are excellent cafes and pub / restaurants: the breakfasts are outstanding. My favourites are Libbys, Dutsons, SouthSeven and the Norfolk Arms...Oh, and the excellent Pulse Cafe (Veggie) in New Mills. Then you can look at nearby Marple with Cambodian, Italian and Spanish food. We sometimes say we are BBC approved! They relocated staff to Salford Quays a few years ago and provided a list of a few nice places to live. They suggested that Mellor was worth a look. Walk five minutes the other way and you are in the country. A few minutes driving can access National Trust properties such as Lyme Park and Kinder Scout. There are plenty of cycling trails and a large network of public footpaths so you can ride or walk straight from the front door. I walk and used to ride my road and mountain bike around here. The area appears regularly on lists of the UK's best areas for mountain biking. It is also a walker's paradise. Don't forget this part of the country fought hard for public access to open space so there are footpaths and bridleways everywhere. Note - we can always find room for your bikes in the garage. We are very close to the River Goyt (recently featured on C4 with Jeremy Paxman) and the famous Roman Lakes Tearooms. I can vouch for the quality of Rachel's home made cakes having sampled all her recipes. Her other food is equally good. You can see dippers on the river, and if very lucky spot Kingfisher, Buzzard and even the deer from time to time. Over the hill is New Mills, with the excellent High Street Books (second hand books and music), the best coffee at Revive (Trust me I've tried a few!) plus Pulse Veggie Cafe, Llamedos full english breakfasts and Iranian themed foods at the Torrs Cafe too.
  • Very quiet peaceful situation. Good area, very friendly hosts. We stayed a week, perfect base to be near family.

'The Vestry' is a renovated 1846 church building, now a delightful studio cottage, that can accommodate couples, families or business trips with easy access to Manchester airport/city. On the edge of the Peak District it suits walkers and cyclists and includes a queen-sized sofa bed, 2 single kids beds on the mezzanine level and a single pull out bed (if reqd), bathroom, tea/coffee, fridge and lovely rear deck overlooking our brook and woodland. 5 min walk to village with pubs, shops, eateries.
Lovingly renovated over the past 3 years, we have transformed The Vestry into a calming private sanctuary full of character, history and interest.
Poynton is a lovely small town with a distinctly village feel. It's located on the edge of the Peak District National Park, and separated from the Manchester conurbation by a large area of green belt, giving Poynton a semi rural character with a huge amount of green space. We have a great selection of food and drink in the village, and lots of independent shops. We also have a fantastic live music venue - The Acoustic Lounge - with gigs every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
  • We loved our short visit with Emma & Ian. The vestry is very clean & cozy. They were very welcoming & gave many suggestions! My boys loved sleeping up in the loft!

  • Great location and awesome job redeveloping this space for a great stay-over or holiday destination.

    Andrew2017-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Really enjoyed staying at the vestry. Emma made us feel really welcome and couldn't do enough for us. Beats staying in an hotel any day of the week!!

    Gary2017-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Emma and Ian were very welcoming along with Frankie (the dog) who is just a joy to meet. The vestry is absolutely beautiful and had everything we needed for a short stay. A lovely peaceful break, we particularly enjoyed watching the birds and squirrels around the decking area.

    Mikki2016-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • The Vestry is a great place to stay while visiting the UK! It's in a wonderful town with lots of restaurants, cafes, and grocery options all within a 10 minute walk. The Peak District is extremely close, as is Manchester Airport, and it is about a 25-30 minute drive into Manchester City Centre. The home itself has just about everything you could need for a quick stay in the area. A wonderful shower, very comfy bed, and cozy fireplace. Communication with the hosts, and checkin in/out went very well. We enjoyed relaxing at the Vestry before heading back home!

    Kathleen2017-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Emma and Ian were fantastic, accommodating hosts. Whilst the stay was only short they were happy to help. The place is ideal for exploring the local area, and the nearby Peak District. A very peaceful and relaxing stay, thank you!

  • Best Air BnB we have stayed in. If anything the pictures didn't do it justice. Most friendly of welcome and the small touches were just brilliant! Couldn't recommend highly enough and will certainly try and use again! Thank you Emma and Ian

    Andrew2016-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • We traveled from Wisconsin to visit friends in Poynton and we couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. The Vestry was everything and more! Walking distance to downtown Poynton. Thoughtfully stocked with coffee, tea & milk. Cozy fireplace with wood provided. Comfortable bed and adorable loft area. Wonderful deck. Friendly hosts- Ian and Emma! A lovely experience and would highly recommend.

On the Sett Valley Trail our home is in a quiet but convenient location. King size bed, tea and coffee making facilities as well as private use of a TV/Sitting Room and an en suite shower room. Breakfast is provided in the room rate.
Our home is located adjacent to the Sett Valley Trail, a converted disused railway allowing walking between Hayfield and New Mills and beyond including Kinder Scout. A large bright spacious room on the 2nd floor of our mill cottage complete with its own shower room.
Very peaceful and set in a wooded area, just a short walk to 3 local pubs serving real ales, snacks and one is a chinese restaurant and another serving traditional restaurant food.
  • Linsey and Martin were welcoming hosts and made us instantly feel at home. It was a comfortable stay and we appreciated the flexibility on breakfast time. Linsey was also v. quick to respond as we booked late in the day. A good experience overall.

    James2016-12-04T00:00:00Z
  • Linsey and Martin are fantastic hosts, they are very welcoming and their property is absolutely lovely. Our room was spotless and our bathroom had the most amazing powerful shower, which definitely wakes you up in the morning! Linsey was very flexible for breakfast times, and the breakfast that she served was spot on, all ingredients locally sourced. Yes they do have two cats, but they won't bother you, which suited me fine as I'm not a great cat lover. There are local eateries within walking distance i.e. The Sycamore, good food and good prices. The Sett Trail is on your doorstep, either walking to Hayfield or New Mills. If you need to know anything about other walks etc, Linsey and Martin have a good knowledge. Thank you Linsey and Martin for a fantastic stay in your beautiful home. We will return. The breakfasts were hot and delicious, locally sourced ingredients.

    Kate2017-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and our hosts were extremely welcoming. Comfy en-suite room on the top floor with room tv and access to private social space in the conservatory. The house is conveniently located (just down a lane off of the Sett Valley Trail) for hiking and various other attractions (as well as fifteen minutes walk to several local pubs). Bike friendly. A short drive for dinner at The Sportsman in Hayfield is well worth it!

    Marcus2016-03-31T00:00:00Z
  • Clean and comfortable room, with nice en-suite and great shower. Friendly hosts with great local knowledge who make a great breakfast. I stayed just one night to get to the Lyme Park parkrun before meeting friends in Manchester so didn't get a chance to explore much, but the location was great and there appeared to be walking and cycling paths going off all over. May have to go back for an explore.

  • We had a lovely time at Mill Cottage. It is set in a beautiful area with lots of great walks. Linsey was very welcoming and gave us lots of local advice. The room was quiet and comfortable and the shower was brilliantly powerful. The breakfast in the morning was a definite bonus. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to others.
