This cottage is like a tardis! Very large ensuite bedrooms, huge open plan living area, and large private courtyard by the fully-equipped kitchen with a barbecue and table for outside eating. Freeview TV & Wifi
In a quiet location, a very spacious cottage in a quiet courtyard with 3 large, upstairs double bedrooms, all with ensuite bathrooms & an open plan kitchen, living room and dining area with fireplace, opening out to a private gravelled courtyard. Isolated at the end of a long, bumpy driveway, this very quiet cottage comes with three large bedrooms, all three with en-suite bath or shower rooms. It has a spacious open plan kitchen, dining and living room. Wood burning stove in inglenook fireplace. Private outside space in gravelled courtyard, perfect for outside dining in the summer. Very peaceful quiet setting. Ideal for families, or small parties looking to get up to 8 people together for a (long!) weekend away. There are 2 further single camp beds available which will allow the cottage to sleep 8.
One of the quietest places I've ever been in England. Right on the edge of the Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding National Beauty (AONB).
  • Charlie was very good at communicating and we arrived with no problems. Lavender cottage was lovely but it needs some TLC. It was a Christmas break and they had a Christmas tree up which was nice. The kitchen was poorly stocked with no sieve, no cheese grater. When I asked they were provided. It could do with a DVD and some games , it was definitely more of a holiday let rather than a home from home. I have been used to home from home with Airbnb and paying £1079 for 5 nights inc of fees I was a little disappointed at the finishing touches. The towels were small and there was no hand towels and linen/duvets on beds were okay.. There was not enough kindling wood left for more than 3 nights. I am sure Charlie will remedy these things as he was very helpful and accommodating in the booking process. The location is lovely and the fireplace is great.

  • Are you looking for a typical English setting???look no future! You have hit the Jackpot We got upgraded to the amazing farm house which has everything you have ever dreamt of. This house has a view to die for, an aga to warm your bum on, an indoor heated pool and it is all in all a super comfortable place to relax and switch off. The house keeper was lovely and warmly met us when we arrived and showed us round. This is a real find. The cottage looks lovely too - we had a look. We will be back. I would recommend this to anyone. Brilliant for families or a big house party for the weekend/ week - Lots of fun to be had.

  • We had a lovely night stay at Charlie's. This is a gorgeous spacious clean comfortable cottage. It's so quiet and peaceful. The walled back garden is delightful. Throughly enjoyed our night in this very special spot.

  • We had a lovely stay in Charlie's cottage which easily accommodated 4 adults and 3 teenagers. Charlie replied quickly to any correspondence and checked all was ok once we were settled in. Good directions to the place which is in a beautiful unspoilt location. In easy distance of the Dorset and Devon coasts, and the town of Honiton where we could get any essentials. We appreciated touches such as the log burner being laid and ready to go and the heaters being on as we arrived. The kitchen was well equipped, and cooking a roast for 6 and 1 veggie dinner was fine. Plenty of space for us all round the dining table and then to relax in comfy chairs in the evening. So quiet and peaceful.

  • Lovely secluded spot in the Devon countryside, the cottage was exactly what we needed for a short retreat! There was a bit of a mix up with the keys on arrival, but it was all sorted out after a short wait and we enjoyed the rest of our stay. Do take the warning about the track seriously though - it's longer than you expect!

  • Fantastic cottage tucked away in Devon countryside, lots of space inside, loved the fireplace!

  • We were made to feel very welcome in the cottage. A lovely plate of homemade scones greeted us when we arrived. Communication with Charlie and his housekeeper Kirsty was great and they were very flexible and happy to accommodate a slightly earlier check in. I only briefly met Charlie himself who was extremely friendly and welcoming. The cottage itself was a lovely place to spent the weekend. A little dark inside but plenty of sunshine in the garden made up for it. The courtyard and garden was idyllic. Having 3 en-suite double bedrooms was perfect for 3 couples and made for a very comfy stay. The only tiny let down was that the kitchen wasn't fully equipped to cater for the number of people staying. Just a few more bits and pieces and cooking dinner for 6 would have been a lot easier. Also, while there is wi-fi in the property, the signal was very weak which was frustrating, but it did mean for a more gadget-free weekend. Set in a lovely part of the country, we would love to visit again.

    Helen2015-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent welcome from Anna (including fresh scones) and a very well equipped property which was very well suited to our needs for a short family break. Good quality furnitur and equipment, well maintained and very clean. Ten out of ten1

Perfect for a romantic or small family getaway, this cosy cottage has a big open plan kitchen-living room, a big master bedroom and en-suite shower room upstairs. There is a second double room off the main bedroom, ideal for kids.
Perfect for a romantic getaway or family break, this cosy cottage has a very big open plan kitchen, dining and living room downstairs, with a big main bedroom with en-suite shower room upstairs. Fast Wifi throughout. Brand new TV with freeview channels. Big, comfy sofas. There is a small second double bedroom just off the main upstairs bedroom, ideal for kids. This is a new property for me and there are more photos of the outside, bedroom and living room coming soon! The wireless broadband internet has been recently installed and has good speeds and unlimited downloads.
  • Lovely cottage, nice and warm and clean. Spacious and really nice to have the kids room opening to the master bedroom rather than into a hallway. Bring slippers for the kitchen floor and drive slow - it's a farm road with some potholes. Note that it is a few miles from any shops but in a way that's what you want - to be in the country. Before entering the farm road I recommending getting out and having a look. If you enter on an angle you can scrape your car bottom! But otherwise lovely :-)

  • Lovely weekend yet again down in Cotleigh, Charlie and his team make you feel very welcome, the addition of another sofa makes the cottage very cosy and a perfect place to chill out. It's a great location for walking and some great places to visit nearby, including the river cottage canteen.

  • We had a good time in Cotleigh. The house is clean and comfortable and is good for a family (the smaller bedroom is more suitable for children). The house is sound proof and the area surrounding is really nice. A perfectly pleasant stay.

  • We had to cancel at the last minute (personal reasons, nothing to do with the B&B), so I can't comment on the cottage. But I can tell you that Charlie was friendly and helpful in all out correspondence.

  • This little cottage has the ambience of bygone rural days and is in a lovely setting. It was warm, clean, simply and tastefully furnished and well equipped. It was delightful to wake up early in a very comfortable bed,to an amazing dawn chorus and to hear the lambs bleating in the field. Charlie responded quickly to all our queries and ensured the cottage was cosy and warm for our arrival. We approached from a different direction than outlined so would advise you follow Charlie's directions very closely as we got lost! Fortunately he was able to direct us on the phone. It is situated near to Axminster and we were able to visit the River Cottage restaurant there for an evening meal which was most enjoyable. There is no wifi in the cottage but our phones had a strong signal. We stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed a welcome relaxing break.

    jennifer2014-04-12T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is located in a lovely area of Devon, and Charlie was a great host - the heating and lights were on when I arrived, and he provided very detailed explanations on how to reach the cottage. I had a great stay, thank you!

  • Wonderful location just off A303 but in a very quiet and tranquil spot. Rooms beautiful and very warm and cosy - Rebecca was a wonderful host and couldn't do enough to help. Will definitely be stayin again.

  • We spent to days at Rebecca's lovely farm house exploring the gorgeous countryside. We highly recommend it! Everything was as seen in the pictures and spotlessly clean. The bathroom is brand new, the bed is comfortable and Rebecca is the perfect hostess. It's an easy drive down to the coast and we especially enjoyed visiting Sidmouth. The local village of Honiton is also lovely and has some very nice shops. Exeter and Taunton are not far either, making Rebecca's home a great base from which to explore NE Devon.

  • Lovely! The rooms are perfectly clean, and sympathetically decorated. We loved the addition of a private breakfast area, and having a handy TV in the bedroom. (The shower is also lovely!). Rebecca provides a tasty breakfast perfect to set you up for the day. Rebecca was a super host, and not intrusive at all, she was kind and attentive and gave great advice on where to eat and things to do in the local area.

The property is situated between Honiton and Axminster, and close to the villages of Dalwood, Stockland, Kilmington and Wilmington - within easy reach from the A30. It thus offers a convenient base for exploring a range of activities and places of interest in the south west. East Devon is famous for its Jurassic coast. Seaton, which is situated at the mouth of the River Axe(and is only 30 minutes away) also has a scenic golf course and a yacht club. (there are also other golf courses in the area at Monkton and Honiton) It is also famous for its tramway which runs through the Axe valley nature reserve to Colyton. There are other animal centers like Cricket St. Thomas Wildlife Park, Ferne Animal sanctuary and Otter Estuary Nature Reserve (which has a range of birdlife and free fishing)– not to mention places like E xmoor and Dartmoor, the Donkey Sanctuary, the marine nature reserve on Lundy Island and Paignton zoo. Lyme Regis is the ‘riviera’ of the south west, has many seaside shops and eating places and a sandy beach and offers historic walks along the coast and is only a 20 minute drive away. The village of Beer - an ancient fishing village (renowned for smuggling in ancient times) also offers some beautiful coastal walks. The surrounding countryside is particularly scenic and tranquil and there are many lovely local country walks. There is a public footpath from the farm which goes down to the historic pub in Dalwood – ‘The Tucker’s Arms’ which was built in 13th century. A map of different walks is provided. Chard reservoir (said to be the birth place of powered flight) also offers a number of walks which are wheelchair friendly. Both Honiton and Axminster have weekly markets with a variety of stalls. Honiton boasts many antique shops and is famous for it’s ice cream shop which is open in the spring and summer, and lace and pottery making. It also celebrates many traditional activities. Axminster is famous for its carpet making and is the home of the River Cottage Canteen. There are many pubs and other eating places such as the well known carvery outside Honiton or one of the many places for Devon cream teas. The area also provides many garden centres, (such as Otter in Ottery St. Mary – the home of Thackeray and Coleridge) and 3 good farm shops(one offering ’Pick your own’), and 2 cider breweries. Places of interest – Durdle Door in the Dorset section of the Jurassic coast; the famous Eden project( only 2 hours away) Taunton,(the town was first settled in Saxon times – approx. 700AD) Dunster and Tiverton castles, Exeter cathedral. For something more energetic, there are a number of activities - like the ‘Landrover experience” and quad biking near Cullompton, Zorbing in Dorchester and water sports in Exmouth(and a sandy beach and model railway!) and centres offering child activities eg. Crealy adventure Park (said to be “a cross between Disneyland and MacDonald’s farm”, and Abbotsbury which provides a farm, gardens(which are lit up at Halloween and Christmas) and a Swanery, and Paintballing near Exeter. Then for those rainy days – there is the Fleet Air Museum and the Haynes Motor Museum in Yeovil and the historic Observatory in Sidmouth (also famous for it’s annual Folk Festival in July) and the Aquarium in Weymouth(URL HIDDEN) Larger Shopping centers – Exeter, Yeovil and Taunton and the Trago center. (near Newton Abbot) There are several notable National Trust properties in this area. Eg. Killerton, Buckland Abbey, Branscombe Bakery, Mill and Forge (Branscombe is also the longest village in the UK), and Shute House. There are lovely gardens like Bicton Park Botanical Gardens, Burrow Farm Gardens and Hestercombe Gardens and other historic houses like Montacute near Yeovil, Dillington House and Forde Abbey.(also famous for it’s Red Ruby Devon cattle)
  • Di was very helpful and welcoming and like other reviewers, we were treated to freshly cooked brownies and scones on arrival. The accommodation was exactly as described; homely and clean with fresh flowers in the lounge and the bedroom. A good range of breakfast fare was provided, including bread, croissants, crumpets, cereals, yogurt, fruit and juice. A peaceful place to stay and a good location for exploring the area. Would recommend

  • We were met on arrival and shown around. The hosts were around if you needed them. Perfect for living on a farm with all the comforts and not having to do any work!

    Daphne2016-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Di's farm house. It really is perfect - plenty of space, so well equipped and she provided breakfast and even some scones on Saturday morning. We were visiting just for two nights to go to a wedding, but I'd love to come back. So reasonably priced to! Thanks so much.

    Richard2015-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • We have a great couple of days with Di on the farm. Di could not have been more friendly and helpful and the place was exactly as described. There was a great selection of breakfast options, bread, crumpets, yoghurts, cereals, etc, etc and some lovely homemade flapjacks and brownies. We were very impressed with effort that Di had gone to - she seemed to have thought of everything and it was spotlessly clean. My wife, son and I had a great day exploring in Sidmouth whilst my daughter did a Vet's Day at The Donkey Sanctuary, sadly our send day was very wet and misty but we warm and cosy in the cottage. Highly recommended.

    Paul2015-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • Di was an excellent host, the barn is such amazing value for money and has all you need for an enjoyable time away. Some of our fave perks were the brownies waiting for us on arrival, a whole area next to the pond to enjoy and have BBQ's, plus lots and lots of breakfast provisions that lasted us for our whole stay! There are also two fab dogs running round including Rosie who will love you. 3 The surrounding area is beautiful and Di provides lots of leaflets with things to do. We had nice weather so enjoyed a 5 mile walk around Colyton (info in one of the leaflets provided) and also went to Seaton, both very recommended. Would defo come back here.

  • We were so lucky to find this listing on Airbnb for our stay whilst working in the area - just sad it was only for a few days - as the cottage is very peaceful, immaculately clean, well-equipped and very comfortable. The town of Honiton is only a few miles away and both Di and Dave made us very welcome whilst at the same time having a very private stay as the cottage has its own driveway and entrance. Would love to return and highly recommend staying here.

  • Di and Dave were wonderful hosts. The countryside is very scenic and the dogs (especially Rosie ) were great fun. I had a lovely walk to the village of Dalwood and Di very kindly fetched me after my pub lunch!

  • Fantastic booking experience. Quick communication and instructions. The accommodation itself was perfect! Clean, practical and cosy. The space is great for a couple and allows you complete privacy and sense of security. Great arrange of breakfast supplies to get you started and even better.. a fresh batch of brownies when we arrived! :) Top tips: 1. You definitely need a car 2. Go for a meal at the Tucker's Arms nearby. Fantastic food and portion sizes!

  • Great communication prior to arrival. Lovely welcome when we arrived including greetings card, home made flapjacks and brownies. Di made sure we had the essentials in for breakfast, milk, ham, cheese, jam, croissants, bread, tea, coffee etc. Fab location for us, we wanted somewhere a little out of the main tourist areas that we quiet and relaxing, this was ideal for us. Very secure, welcome packprovided, leaflet info, maps of the area, restaurant suggestions and you can easily ask Di if you have a question. A home from home. Comfortable, quiet and peaceful. Thank you, we would definitely recommend this property to others.

  • The cottage is very comfortable, warm, well equipped and really family-friendly. The lounge on the second floor is very cozy and relaxing. We had a great weekend! Many thanks for the warm welcome and brownies :)

  • We have just returned from a lovely stay at the delightful Mwendafye cottage. Di was the perfect host, though we only saw her upon our arrival. We were presented with some delicious home baked scones and chocolate brownies. The cottage is cosy but still plenty spacious enough for two. We found it to be incredibly well stocked, well equipped and spotlessly clean, even above the standard of some top hotels! The location is perfect for exploring the Jurassic Coast and the private entrance made coming and going from the cottage without disturbing anyone else a breeze. We loved it so much we've already booked our next stay!

    Tim2016-04-05T00:00:00Z
  • Very comfortable stay thank you

    Marten2017-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • We very much enjoyed staying at "Mwendafye". It was extremely well equipped with everything you might need. Every detail was catered for which made our stay very comfortable and pleasant. For example, all unused power sockets had removable safety covers. The annex was large, spacious and secure. Wifi was fast and excellent given the rural location, and the tv provided supported playing videos on a USB stick. Fully stocked kitchen including all needed supplies and cutlery, even brownies :-) We would love to stay here again.

Little Farm Cottage is situated behind Wellington Farm next to the B and B on our Smallholding is East Devon with some spectacular views of the surrounding countryside. The Apartment is to the rear of Wellington Farm and is centrally heated and tastefully decorated . The price of £80 is for 2 people.
  • Stayed for just one night, but very cosy place very clean and warm, perfect for a little getaway! And Marcia and her husband were lovely and veg helpful. Would definitely come back again!

  • Great apartment and really well located for exploring Devon. Right next to a farm shop and tea room (very convenient). We had a relaxing time.

    Holly2017-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • The Cottage is in a peaceful, quite village but a short drive from the larger towns in the surrounding area. The rooms are a good size, comfortable and warm with a nice kitchen and living area. Marci (the host) was lovely and very helpful. I'd highly recommend a stay here and will definitely book again.

    Lewis2017-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • My mom and I had a great stay at Marcia's place. The family cottage is next to a BnB and Tea Room, which Marcia is running, so there was enough space to park the car. I am not sure if it is reachable without a car, but by car it was very easy to find (however we had to double check the name of the place with Marcia upon arrival, so maybe this could be included in the ad). It is in a lovely environment and walks or the coast are easily accessible for a nice day out. The cottage was great for us two, but is also spacious enough for a family due to the 2 rooms and large sitting area. The kitchen is perfectly equipped, everything you need is there and more. The living room is very cosy and with 2 sofas spacious to relax after hiking or being outdoors. The beds are comfortable and Marcia was very helpful with additional requests. As soon as we wrote she would bring over additional toilet roll or bed sheets. Very charming place and host. Nothing bad to report at all. Wish we would have had more time there. Can only recommend it.

  • The perfect place to base ourselves during a visit to see family in Honiton. We were made to feel very welcome.

    Simon2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Marcia and Gary are very hospitable and friendly. Cottage was just what we needed for space and location. They have horses and pigs and offered for the children to join in feeding them and were very patient answering lots of questions ! Great hosts.

  • The flat was lovely and clean, and Rebecca was a very welcoming host. We had a really lovely week there.

    Matthew2017-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely nights stay. Rebecca's studio was immaculately clean and very homely. The petite kitchen and table was perfect for our dinner and breakfast. The sound system is great and we watched a movie in bed using the DVD player - the bed is super comfy. The shower was lovely and the bathroom is modern and even has heated floors. It felt very private and peaceful. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Hidden in the depths of the Devonshire countryside, The Barn is ideal for romantics. Renovated to a high standard with amenities you didn’t even know you needed, it is one of the most delightful places to stay in Devon.
Set across the first floor of a converted thatched barn, it includes a bedroom with en-suite shower at one end of the property and a spacious kitchen and living area at the other end. Linking them together is a wonderfully romantic bathroom with a vintage silver roll top bath tub.
Cotleigh is a picturesque and tiny village situated at the foot of the Blackdown Hills in the heart of the unspoilt and partly wooded farmland of East Devon. It is about 3 miles to the east of the market town of Honiton. The village includes a church, village hall, and a number of particularly pretty houses and farm holdings. Despite not having a pub in Cotleigh itself, there are wide array of sumptuous establishments within a short driving distance of the cottage. A couple of miles further south is the spectacular Jurassic Coast, which has been deemed a world heritage site for its rugged cliffs that plunge into the deep blue sea, and for its extraordinary collection of fossils.
  • This place is breathtaking. The grounds of the Barn are immaculately kept and the views are dreamy. We took full advantage of the luxurious bath, and the top notch shower room. Thank you kindly for the kitchen supplies, and the coffee was delicious! The only downer was that the check out time was 10am on a Sunday morning.

    Charlotte2016-12-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had the most beautiful getaway at the barn. It was everything we hoped and more. The barn itself is so so stunning and everything was immaculate. The added touches of champagne, bread, eggs, robes and slippers all just made it even more special. We could have stayed forever!!! Will definitely be visiting again next year and maybe trying out your other places too! Thanks again, Lizzie and Andy

    Elizabeth2016-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • The Barn is absolutely idilic. We had a magical Christmas break. The area is so peaceful and the personalised touches made us feel truely spoilt. Thank you so much! On a side note - if you like traditional country pubs I highly recommend visiting the Masons Arms in Branscombe.

    Sophie2017-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place, very peaceful, a real modern classic.

    Michael2016-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • The barn is an absolute dream. I literally feel like i'm floating and only wish that I could have another week here. It is done beautifully and leaves you wanting for nothing. I will be back for sure and would highly recommend to others. Thanks for having me!

Beautiful chocolate box thatched cottage only 2 miles from the town of Honiton ( a 10 minute straight run) in the heart of the East devon countryside. Within easy reach of coast and a variety of rural walks and Exeter is 14 miles. We are also within easy reach of Exeter airport taking only about 20 minutes along the dual carriage way.
  • Lesley was very welcoming and we had a great stay with her in a very attractive location. Will definitely come again when we go back to Devon.

    MICHAEL2016-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Lesley's place was picture perfect. She was warmly accommodating and made our stay perfect. Thank you!

  • We had a lovely one night stay in Lesley's cottage. She was very welcoming and friendly, the breakfast was great and the cottage was lovely. We would definitely come back! Thank you Lesley, it was great to meet you, Ruby and Rufus!! Amy and Christien

  • Lovely old cottage in the middle of quite remote beautiful countryside. Comfy bedroom and friendly hostess. Just what wanted.

    Simon2017-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • Lesley was a great host and made us feel very welcome. She gave us some nice suggestions to enjoy the region around. The cottage is lovely, and the room was nice and warm, with a very comfortable bed. The breakfast was delicious, especially the fruit salad. It's certainly a wonderful place to stay in Devon.

    Ana Luiza2016-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • Lesley was a great host. Friendly and helpful. Flexible check in was great. Breakfast was lovely too.

    Charlotte2017-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, Lesley is a fantastic host. Could not recommend this airbnb more.

    Amit/Niki2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Lesley's cottage is beautiful and charming, the room she offers is so comfortable and clean, and her wonderful hospitality exceeded my expectations. The cottage is located in Cotleigh town, which is approximately a 10-12 min car drive from Honiton town and the wedding venue I was attending (Tracey Estate Parkland and Gardens). In that sense, it was conveniently located from the town centre where all the shops and cafes are, the wedding venue, and also not too far to drive from to the seaside (Sidmouth) which we visited on the last day before heading back to London. Lesley was so kind to offer me a delicious home-made breakfast each morning, all the information I needed about the surrounding sites and transport, and even a ride to Honiton town when I needed it (I would recommend booking taxis you need a day or two before travelling, only because it can get busy at certain hours). She really went out of her way to make me as comfortable as I could be, offering me a cup of tea and interesting chats in between my trips around the area :) All of this definitely added a more genuine, personable and generous feel to my airbnb experience, hence why I am writing a long review :). I wouldn't hesitate once about recommending you staying there! Thanks so much for everything Lesley! Sorry to leave in a rush and not get a chance to say goodbye properly to you, Ruby and Rufus!

Cosy old stone family farm house in very quiet remote location, perfect for family gatherings and small quiet celebrations. Idyllic setting and views, lovely walks, all year round indoor heated pool. Large inglenook fireplace, music player, Wifi, Apple TV PLEASE DO NOT ENQUIRE FOR DATES THAT ARE ALREADY MARKED AS UNAVAILABLE BECAUSE THEY ARE UNAVAILABLE!
A rare, old, characterful rural farmhouse set in idyllic surroundings at the end of a long private bumpy drive. Ideal for family or birthday gatherings, weekends with friends, or family Devon holidays in the summer, with lovely walks from the house. Perfect for family gatherings, quiet friend get-togethers, quiet hen gatherings and small celebrations (but NOT parties), this is a beautiful family home with open plan kitchen (with Aga) and dining room, overlooking the garden and beautiful countryside. It can comfortably sleep 12 people, and 14 if you use the library and studio. **For PRICES, please use the Airbnb site with your dates and guest numbers rather than messaging me, as you'll get a faster and more accurate answer! If the dates say it is available, then you can assume it is available and send a booking request! All other questions welcome.** The large sitting room has an inglenook fireplace with a great wood-burning stove, and an adjoining library with an extra bed in it if you've got a lot of people staying. It has 3 large double bedrooms, 2 with ensuite bath and shower rooms, and a third bedroom with bath and shower room right next to it, all on the first floor. On the top floor, there are two more bedrooms (one double one twin) and a single extra bed on the landing. There is a library downstairs with a double sofa bed, plus a double bed and double sofa bed out in the pool studio. (We don't recommend using the studio for sleeping in the winter months as it can get very chilly!) The house is at the end of a 500 metre, tree-lined private driveway which is very bumpy, with a gravel drive for parking your car (and a garage if necessary, by arrangement). A maximum of 4 cars per group, please ask us if you require more. It is a very remote location, down a tiny lane, off a B-road in an extremely quiet and exceptionally beautiful setting, however, there are neighbours at each side of the house and so you will need to be respectful of those living next door during your stay. The nearest town (Honiton) is 6 miles away and has all the shops you need, including lots of local food producers and some larger supermarkets. (The bread from the Honiton bakery is exceptional). There is a BBQ and an L-shaped garden which extends around the side of the house into an orchard with a croquet lawn. The remarkable thing about this house is that it is big enough to comfortably swallow a dozen people without feeling crowded, but also small and cosy enough to be a lovely place to go just as a couple. The large master bedroom has a small table and chairs in the window overlooking the marvellous view, which can be a great place to have breakfast. It's a very special place, cosy in winter, wonderful in summer and with a heated indoor pool available all year around. If you are thinking of booking for a week or two, my changeover day is a Sunday rather than a Saturday (as I have many weekend-only bookings Fri-Sun). This isn't set in stone, but is a preference. Private driveway Pool Garden Wireless Internet Large inglenook fireplace surrounded by sofas Baby Grand Piano Aga Fridge/Freezer Washing Machine Dishwasher I'm generally away when guests are staying, but might be in one of the cottages. Happy to help with tips once you're here! This is one of the quietest places in England I've ever been It's so peaceful and tranquil. You feel completely isolated at this spot, but it's only a 10 minute drive to Honiton with antique shops and cafes, and another 20 minutes further to the wonderful city of Exeter. Right on the edge of Blackdown Hills, the Area of Oustanding Natural Beauty. You really do need a car to get around! Taxis need booking days in advance if you do want to get the train and get a cab to the house.
  • An amazing house, incredible space, made by the swimming pool ! beautiful walks and just down the road from the coast! Charlie and the house keeper are more than helpful and made for a smooth and easy stay! 5*

    Dave2015-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Charlie was an exceptionally attentive and thoughtful host, who did very well to make us feel welcome and settled (even being a large group of 16 people). The house itself (and attached cottage) was stunning, with a lovely welcoming feel to it, and in a beautiful part of England. Would absolutely recommend this property, as we were very sad to leave it!

    Calum2015-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Charlie's house is beautiful. An idyllic country setting which was made even more beautiful by the great weather we were lucky enough to have over the weekend. The kitchen is absolutely amazing and so well equipped - perfect if you like cooking for big groups! The whole place was clean and the rooms were cosy and comfortable. Kevin the housekeeper was very welcoming and friendly, and Charlie has been a pleasure to communicate with. We went for my Dad's 60th, and I would really recommend the place for a family getaway - lots of country landscape to explore and a quiet, relaxing atmosphere. We hope to come back soon!

    Anna2014-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • The house was lovely - spacious and warm. A very well equipped kitchen which was fantastic. The kids loved swimming in the pool, and there are good walks and beaches all close to the house. Beer (the village, not the drink) is under half an hour away and has a lovely stone beach, fresh fish, walks and a decent (and child-friendly) pub. Charlie was eager to help and the check in/out process was easy. Recommended.

    Ben2014-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Charlie's place is wonderful for entertaining - huge farmhouse kitchen with a beautiful Aga. The swimming pool was great for our kids and the whole thing is in a lovely rural setting. Charlie was very helpful and kept in contact about the booking.

    Nic2015-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • A magical experience. This was the perfect place for a family celebration. We felt at home straightaway, loved the swimming pool, local spots like the Candlelight Inn were fantastic, and a super trip to the beach topped it all off. It was very clean and tidy on arrival, and the internet worked well. Charlie's communication was excellent throughout.

    Jonathan2014-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • This was my second visit to Charlie's amazing house. I went with friends the first time and it was so lovely, I decided to take my family back there for the weekend. Charlie and ian had set everything up for us and we're really accommodating. The house itself is amazing. Lots of space to relax, really peaceful neighbourhood, great pool and really close to lots of great places to visit- you can drink beer in Beer, go on the trams at Seaton, and visit lyme regis- all in one day! Highly recommended!

Coffee and tea plus a carton of milk are provided for your arrival. Breakfast can be supplied by prior arrangement for an extra charge, either a full English breakfast served in owners' kitchen a short walk down the garden path or a continental breakfast to eat at your leisure in Nuthatch. The 13th century Tuckers Arms pub, which serves excellent food and beer is 2 miles away in the neighbouring village of Dalwood.
Nuthatch is in a very rural location & is accessible by way of some quite narrow lanes. Honiton, Axminster and Chard are the nearest towns. We are in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with the Jurassic Coast only a short drive away.
  • Great little retreat and Anna & Nick are lovely

    Robert2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • This is an excellent place for seclusion and comfort in very rural East Devon. I wonderful hideaway for peace and quiet. It is in a farming area so if you don't know what that means you will want to keep to a more urban place, but I totally recommend Anna's place for a wonderful get-away- from-it-all venue.

    Julian2017-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • Anna and her husband were very welcoming hosts and nothing was too much trouble. The cottage is beautiful, fabulously clean with everything you need (and more!) for a weekend away. The little touches on arrival, delicious brownies, bread and milk were a lovely touch, especially as we'd forgotten to pack any! Thank you for a wonderful weekend on your fabulous cottage, we'll definitely be recommending you to all of our friends!

    Emily2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • The setting is stunning nestled in the hills with beautiful views of rural Devon. The cottage is tucked away down a lane and all we could hear were birds and the wind in the trees. Perfect tranquillity. The cottage is very cosy but spacious too. The bed was so comfortable and a great wet room with fab shower. Anna is a delightful host and had made a batch of delicious biscuits for us on arrival as well as a jar of homemade jam which was very kind. Highly recommend this lovely venue. Just beware - free wi-fi but too slow for streaming movies. Data drops out while out and about too so you can't rely on satnav. But brush up on your map reading and you'll be fine.

  • Anna was a wonderful host and made us feel incredibly welcome as soon as we arrived. The cottage was beautifully presented and very clean. We felt at home straight away. • This was the ABSOLUTE BEST Airbnb I’ve ever stayed at. From the host, to the food, to the nearby pubs and proximity to the Jurassic Coast... It was all just perfect. Anna and nick are wonderful down to earth people who made me and my families vacation so SPECIAL!! If you are looking for somewhere to relax and really experience what Britain is about I suggest Anna’s place. She puts so much effort into the smallest details that show she truly cares about hosting her guests’ to a wonderful Holliday. Thanks for everything guys!!!

  • This house is litle dificult to find, but Leonora and David are very good navigaters and kind people. We spent there only one night but there was very interesting time. The place is in nice nature. I like spend a longer time here in future.

  • Fabulous place to stay! Leonora and David are the best hosts ever. They did as much as they possibly could to give my son and I an enjoyable and memorable stay. We will definitely come back again the next time we are in Honiton. Thank you both.

  • Arriving at High Quantock was like being reunited with your best friends after a long separation. Leonora and David were genuinely delighted to see us and the warmth of their welcome was joyous to behold . Of course it may have been partly relief that we had managed to find them and arrived in one piece - the quarter mile of track and hairpin bend that leads to the final descent to their beautiful house was not for the faint-hearted! But boy was it worth it. Within minutes after the genuine hugs and handshakes we had a pot of tea, home made banana cake and a feeling of belonging that we had yet to earn. This is a tucked away little piece of Devon heaven - and we hadnt even seen the room yet! David, a botanist with a fascinating back story and Leonora have developed the house, built in the sixties by his father with several acres of beautiful shrubs plants and trees. When you finally get to your room (think annexe) it certainly helps to maintain the magic - all you could wish for in terms of facilities and extras - double aspect, lovely tasteful art and your own wet room and breakfast venue and several beautiful vases of flowers chosen from plentiful options on offer. The night we stayed at High Quantock there were shooting stars and comets on offer too and Leonora provided blankets to keep off the chill while we scanned the night skies. Breakfast was great and featured eggs laid by their on site hens and we then spent an enjoyable hour touring the grounds, learning about plants and bushes and generally enjoying a masterclass in matters botanical . All in all- Air b and b with warmth, comfort and style. As you can tell, we quite liked it!!

  • We had a great stay here. Our hosts were so welcoming and the spot was perfect (If you like to get away from it all!). Breakfast was fantastic too. We didn't want to leave!

    ian2017-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • All-round fantastic experience. Everything we could want was provided for cheerfully, including excellent breakfasts. The house and surroundings were lovely too. More like staying with friends than a b&b. We hope to be able to stay here again some time.

    Toby2016-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Staying here was like visiting friends. We had some great conversations with Leonora and David. They are very lively and well travelled people who enjoy having guests in their house. The house is surrounded by a forest and a large garden, away from the road. It is very quiet and perfect for rest and relaxation. Our hosts offered a tasty breakfast with eggs from their own free range chickens. You will need your own vehicle to get to the house. It is away from towns and any services, so you'll need to drive to restaurants for meals. Also, there are no road signs, so finding the house can be a challenge. Just ask Leonora for details before you arrive.

    Gene & Neda2016-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very warm welcome. Leonora and David are full of energy, a pleasure to talk to and lavished our three month old with attention. The house is uniquely beautiful. The self contained section has its own entrance hall, a comfy double bed in a bright room, a neat toilet and shower, and a sitting room. Big windows throughout give various views of the stunning gardens. We had all that we needed (kettle, coffee, Oreos!). The house is tastefully decorated, reflecting David and Leonara's wide travels and approachable personalities. And then there was the breakfast. A feast of champions! Great quality ingredients, lovingly dished up. In all, a great stop over if you want to break up a drive to Cornwall (which is what we did) or a wonderful base from which to explore the AONB in this magical part of Devon. We will come again and recommend it to others with gusto. Liam, Mélodie and Léon

  • Fantastic hosts! Leo and Dave made us feel so welcome. Space was great and plenty of it with own room, ensuite and lounge. Breakfasts were varied and delicious. The grounds were a beautiful ramble and looking outside from the breakfast table, we almost expected to see a fairy! Awesome!

Beautiful romantic old house, private walled gardens Close to Heritage Jurassic Coast, glorious countryside, Pig at Combe Hotel. 3 stylish bedrooms, Aga kitchen, Wood-burner, Children & Dog friendly, delicious home-cooking offered. A country home for you to relax, explore and enjoy. Bucolic bliss! Plus Tower Cottage see separate listing
Tower House has a magical atmosphere the moment you arrive. The house is set in secluded walled gardens with a natural pond and 2 old stone barns (where firewood is stored). It is a peaceful space; a bit overgrown and overlooked by a romantic old Tower. The garden is safe for dogs and small children (but young children and dogs will need to be supervised by adults near the pond). There is private parking for 2 vehicles accessed via the electric double gates. *Separate cottage adjacent to main house (sleeps 2-4) available December 2017) so potential to rent out both for occasional groups* (discuss with Tamsin beforehand). Since 2014, It has been a pleasure hosting 200 plus guests from around the world. Guests love the relaxing home from home vibe, its unique charm and character without worrying about keeping it immaculate. Guests should not expect a pristine 5 star luxury hotel. This is my family home and it dates back in part to the 17th Century. The garden is home to 24! varieties of garden birds and owls which hoot at night. Apart from the Owls and soft dawn chorus, it is incredibly peaceful, quiet and dark, so perfect for a good nights sleep. The stars on a clear night are absolutely amazing. The overall feel and quality of the house is spacious, homely and comfortable. I am always trying to improve and upgrade the living spaces and have started to redecorate some of the rooms including a new very comfortable sofa in the sitting room to curl up on. Second freestanding bath and sofa recently (November 2017) added to main light airy bedroom. This will now take pressure off the single bathroom for your convenience. The upstairs has a slightly unusual layout with just one airy bathroom which is between bedroom 1 and bedroom 3. The bathroom has a freestanding bath but no separate shower cubicle. There is a second downstairs loo/cloakroom. For this reason, I would suggest my home is more suitable for families and or close friends who don't mind sharing the bathroom. (Now have 2 freestanding baths). Feedback from the majority of guests is that this quirky arrangement did not diminish their overall experience staying here. Re-decorated Bedrooms are spacious, with very comfortable beds, quality bed linen, quiet and private. I am also a professional caterer so I am happy to offer welcome SUPPERS and can email you a simple supper menu in advance. A welcome supper is a treat after a long journey and can be simply heated up in the Aga. I provide a simple continental style breakfast, croissants, butter, jams, coffee etc and you are welcome to help yourselves to any store cupboard items, olive oil etc if you wish. I like to offer a personal touch to welcome you. My home is very much a house for all seasons. It is also safe and secure. Above all, apart from the peace and quiet of my home, its location in the rural heart of East Devon (close to Honiton) and easy access to some of the most beautiful countryside in East Devon and the Jurassic Coast is a fantastic bonus as it means you can enjoy the house and explore the area all the year round. I have a welcome info file with details of local places of interest to visit. Please also look at the photos and glowing testimonials to inspire you. It is a pleasure living at Tower House. I am delighted to continue sharing my home with lovely people from around the world, throughout the year. I hope everyone who stays here will have a wonderful experience and enjoy and explore all the pleasures of this special part of rural East Devon.
Its great being so close to unspoilt countryside in the Farway Valley, River Coly walks, and quiet lanes for Cycling and running enthusiasts, wonderful coastal walks at Weston, Branscombe and low tide at Sidmouth. Honiton is a vibrant market town renowned for Antique shops. It has a Tesco, Aldi and Lidl and high street with useful shops. I also love Lyme Regis a historic seaside town. Its a fantastic area to explore and immerse yourself in nature and a pleasure to return to a very comfortable, stylish "home from home" The recently opened Pig Hotel and Restaurant at Combe, Gittisham is a beautiful place just 10 minutes away if you want a special supper. My welcome file and photos on this site detail more info. I have recently redecorated 2 bedrooms which look fab! Plus second freestanding bath. Separate cottage (sleeps 2-4) available December 2017
  • Lovely and beautiful home tucked away outside Honiton with a picturesque walled garden and comfortable rooms

    James2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • What a unique and interesting property. It was a pleasure staying here and we felt welcome with the little post-it notes in the rooms explaining that we could help ourselves to kitchen supplies e.g. Nice to be given croissants, milk, eggs and juice in the fridge for us. The layout wouldn’t work for everyone as the only bath is accessible only by walking through a bedroom and between the next bedroom but it worked for our family configuration.

    Shawn2015-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay! It's a very cosy house with a fantastic large kitchen area and living room. It's in a quiet area which is a perfect escape from the city. Tamsin made us feel very welcome and at home.

  • We had a really nice stay at Tamsin's place. The house is lovely and in a nice quiet location. Thank you!

  • Tamsin's home is beautiful. It's a family home so comes with all the associated quirks and imperfections, but it's clean, spacious, well-appointed and full of charm. Tamsin's a great host, as she was responsive and helpful throughout, gave us some great recommendations for the locality, and was incredibly welcoming. A great home and a lovely host.

    Victoria2016-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in Tamsin’s place for 3 days through Christmas and it was perfect for us. We wanted a big old place in the country with a big kitchen and plenty of space. Our turkey was the best ever which we put down to the awesome Aga. The house is like going back in time with huge windows and great fireplace. The bedrooms are very spacious and we enjoyed the lived-in feel and homely atmosphere. Tamsin also made us a lovely pie which was super generous and tasty! Overall, highly recommend!

  • We had a great stay. The cottage was beautiful, the setting gorgeous just as described and shown in the photographs. The children loved being in a farm environment and going for walks to look for animal footprints. Greg and Fiona set up everything for us perfectly. They even very kindly left bread, milk and jam for our morning breakfast. I would highly recommend this cottage.

    jo2016-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Greg and Fiona made us very welcome and told us all about the area and where to go and what to do. The tea and mince pies went down a treat! This is a lovely place to stay. There is a wood burning stove in the dining / sitting area, which really adds to the homeliness of the place. It's warm and cosy, perfect after a days walking in the hills. The house is surrounded by fields and hedges and woodland, and really accessible on the A30 / A303 - easy to find. Close by you can walk up to the tumulus for an amazing view of the area. We stayed over Christmas, and walked over the Blackdown hills and drove down to the Jurassic coast for fossil hunting and wonderful cliff / coastal walks, stunning views across the bays, shimmering with the soft colours of winter. Honiton is a market town, with lots of interesting shops, proper butchers, bakers, grocers, a post office and supermarkets on the periphery. The house was very clean, with 2 bathrooms (one for mum and dad). The room in the roof is ideal for a large family, who can watch films on the TV screen, lying on the massive bean bags. We enjoyed ourselves immensely. And would recommend this to everyone.

  • Fiona welcomed us with a confirmation email, and there was a welcome tray of tea milk etc. They left us do our own thing from the well equiped house which was great and seemed to be on hand if were to need them. A very well located base near Honiton to explore Devon, both north and south. The house is in a rural location but is in a small farm business park so is not as remote as we expected, but the house itself is excellent.

    Dave2016-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fabulous Christmas at orchard barn, the cottage was extremely spacious for 6 of us, and there was a very well equipped kitchen to cook our Christmas dinner. The walks were splendid and beaches not far away, sidmouth was 20 mins away and allows dogs in the winter months Fiona was fabulous and looked after us throughout our stay and giving us bits and bobs that we had forgotten! The under floor hearing made sure we were all toasty and the wood burner was very effective! Was a perfect get away we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves

    Caroline2015-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • We booked the cottage because we were going to a wedding a Deer Park. The cottage was in a good location with only a short drive to the town's high street and the wedding venue. The owners were very helpful in providing local taxi numbers before we arrived as we were not from the area. The cottage was a nice size for 6 adults to stay in comfortably and they made the cottage very welcoming by leaving bread, milk and tea and coffee. We really enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.

    Nicola2016-05-16T00:00:00Z
  • This is an amazing location surrounded by beautiful countryside and views from the grounds. The barn is comfortable and well equipped and Gregg and Fiona kept us well informed and made sure we had everything we needed without being intrusive. I would recommend it highly.

    Richard2016-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely stay. Just one problem, we didn't stay for long enough. This is a great location for families and folks who enjoy beautiful English country walks and the seaside. I stayed with my wife and four children and the Barn was perfect. Greg, Fiona and family made us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. We will definitely be back as we never managed to find time to walk to the iron age fort or the magical wood.

Although she had not heard from us when she wanted, she made sure we could get into the lovely, very warm cottage and was with us very quickly to explain all. Great cottage, very well equipped, with all we needed. Thanks for a very pleasant couple of days.

  • Although we didn't get to meet Pamela during our stay, she was the perfect host and provided us with everything we needed from instructions on how to light the fire to local attractions and things to do in the area. • Ferndale Cottage is a lovely and complete house. We enjoyed the rest and the peace of the cottage and the countryside. After one of the nice circular walks around Stockland is was marvellous to relax in the garden. Owners and neighbours are very friendly en welcoming people. It is handy to give Pamela a call about the approximate time of your arrival on the first day of stay. We only could stay 4 days, but Ferndale Cottage was our favourite accomodation during our 3 weeks trip Sussex-Devon-Cornwall. We advise everybody to book at least one week to fully enjoy!
