Listen to the sounds of rushing water as you sleep in this beautifully finished cabin style tree house. I was recently featured in The Atlantic online magazine article on tree houses. You can find it in the video section of the online magazine.
This tree house is like a tiny house in a tree yet very comfortable with a "full size" bed. There is a microwave oven and a mini fridge. The stairs wind around the tree to the porch. The guest bathroom is in the main house 30 feet from the tree house. I have pictures of it in the photo section.
I love that I live along the Washougal River, it's my little slice of heaven. Even though it's right in town, I feel like I live in a vacation home year round.
  • Okay, so we left home without the address, but Brian was available by text and directed us to the gate and treehouse, which is a wonderfully crafted treehouse outside and inside. The ruffling water of the Washougal River lulled us to sleep, the sun woke us, and the scampering of a squirrel or two through the tree limbs and over the treehouse roof made us laugh like kids again.

  • Lodging exceeded our expectations. The treehouse was charming and well laid out! The view is unbelievable and you can fall asleep to the sounds of the river. Brian makes every effort to ensure guests are comfortable and have a good time! We will definitely be staying again!

    Becki2014-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the treehouse was really a lot of fun! We were looking for a place for a quick stay before heading to the PDX that was a little adventurous and this was perfect. It was our first time in a TH and we loved it! Brian was a very gracious host even though we didn't stay long all our needs were met. Had we been there longer we would have taken advantage of the river more. Anyone looking for a tranquil, relaxing spot this is it. Plan to use the main house for showering, etc. but if your outdoorsy it's not a problem. There is a small fridge and microwave in the TH if you have a need for that. We had plenty of room for myself, my daughter and my son. The bed can sleep 2 and there is a pad for a third person. Brian did an awesome job with the accommodations, I highly recommend it!

    Kelly2016-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • Brian was very friendly reminder and have suggestions on restaurants and activities. Loved the tranquility.

    Glenda2016-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • Brian was amazing. He and dobby made us feel super welcome and the tree house was an amazing end to our honeymoon. If you are planning on staying here, add days to your stay if you can, we seriously wish we had spent more time here.

    Joey2016-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • Brian was so friendly and I felt like we already knew each other and we're old friends. The treehouse was magical - the babbling river right below was so peaceful. I loved the decor and all of the little details. Sat on the porch for hours just relaxing and enjoying the sounds and the beautiful vie and surroundings. I will definitely return!! Thank you Brian and your sweet dog Dobby!

    Linda2016-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Brian’s tree house was great! It’s beautiful, comfortable and homey. We were surprised how close it was to the river. Brian is a wonderful host. He was friendly and was around when needed (i.e., showing how to open the gate). I’ve already recommended this place to friends and family. I’d definitely go back if I’m in the area again (it was very hard to leave!). Thanks Brian and his furry pal!

    Cheryl2016-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • This place was great! Beautiful and peaceful and right in the middle of a ton of activities! My son loved the treehouse and the river, and Brian went out of his way to make him feel comfortable.

Nestled in a backyard that's home to three cute dwarf goats and a flock of hens, this little cabin overlooks the hot tub, back woods, and greenhouse. Serenity and relaxation await you. Complete with an outdoor shower (in the summer months), this is a great place to unwind. Close to the Columbia River Gorge and Mt Hood and only 30 mins to downtown Portland - you get the best of both worlds. The cabin is good for couples and solo adventurers.
This little cabin is tucked into my half acre backyard. Surrounded by a garden, goats, hens, old growth fir trees, canvas wall tent (which also hosts guests), and a hot tub - you will also have access to a half bath with a toilet, sink, and laundry in the main house - as well as an outdoor shower on the deck in the summer months. These spaces are shared. The cabin, however, is all yours. The cabin itself is equipped with a queen size bed with memory foam mattress, a table with two chairs, a hot water kettle, a dresser, as well as a very-mini fridge. This is a space to unwind and relax.
Halfway between Mt Hood and Portland, this spot is a good jumping off point for the gorge, mountain activities, or time in Portland. The neighborhood is partly suburban, partly urban, and partly farmy. It's a big mix out here. Close proximity to Edgefield.
  • We enjoyed our stay at the cabin! Our goat neighbors were very charming and sweet, the hot tub was a nice touch, and we were conveniently close to the hiking up by Multnomah falls. We were only a 20 minute drive from downtown Portland which was great as well. Carolyn was very helpful in recommending places to eat and hike, also very quick to respond to our needs. We had a lovely stay in Portland and I hope to return at some point.

    Candice2016-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • The space was perfect and exactly as described. Carolyn's instructions were very clear and our stay went seamlessly. Carolyn has an adorable set up, very clean, very relaxing. The bed is incredibly comfortable. Definitely would return for another stay!

    Analise2016-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • It was like waking up in the middle of the woods but we were in a city! Amazing. Carolyn was a very nice and helpful host and we'd go back to her place in a heart beat. Thank you, Carolyn!

    Anne2017-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Loved our stay! We snowboarded at Mt. Hood and relaxed in the hot tub afterwards. Great distance from downtown and mountain activities and all was as described. Carolyn is so sweet and made us feel right at home!

  • Loved my stay! Very unique place, I recommend this place to everyone!

    Hailey 2016-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • It's a great place! It's not as close to the city but it's fairly easy to get access to downtown. The goats are soooo adorable! We just wanted to play with them and they are super friendly. The bed is very comfy and the whole little whimsical, cabin feel is relaxing. Especially after laying in the hot tub! Carolyn was super accommodating and very nice, definitely recommend the place.

    Bianca2016-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Loved staying in this adorable little cabin. Carolyn has clearly put a lot of hard work into making the space unique, with lots of great vintage details and sweet personal touches. Plus, goats!!

Space includes the use of the 4 bedroom, 2 bath, main home use of the tree house and tiny house on the property. The property is within walking distance to the Washougal River, Columbia River, grocery stores, brew pubs, a few restaurants and convenient stores. It is a short drive to a lot more restaurants, movie theater and stores. It is 30 minutes outside of downtown Portland. Access to the tree house is up a vertical ladder about 12 feet, so you must not be afraid of heights! This structure is well built, and sturdy, and is often slept in, but you must understand the inherent dangers associated with tree houses prior to your stay. This tree house is not suited for young kids.
The house is walking distance to the Washougal and Columbia river. There are world class hiking and biking trails nearby. The property is located in the city of Washougal.
  • My treehouse was simply the best. I especially appreciate the short walk to great dining, AND nature. Kenny is VERY knowledgeable on both, plus he's open and interested to hear your experiences. I am impressed!

    DAVID2013-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • The treehouse was great, we loved it! Kenny and his wife were beyond helpful and nice, we'll be back again!

    Lauren2013-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • Kenny was great, very helpful and warm. The place looked as pictured, really fun and original.

    Chantal2015-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • Kenny, Aimee and their dog as well as Eddie the puggish mutt from across the street were very gracious hosts, opening up their sweet tree house and the entirety of their home to me and my girlfriend for a wonderful evening. Would highly recommend checking out this fun and sturdy tree house if you are looking for something truly unique in or around Portland.

  • What a fantastic place! Awesome host with a fun, warm, and welcoming attitude. Location: perfect, easy to find, bunch of great places to walk to. Host: excused our late arrival and was very friendly an thorough in showing us around and making us comfortable. Treehouse: WOW! If you are even considering going anywhere else in the area, stop wasting time and book this right this every minute! You'll be so very glad that you did. Impressively well built, spacious, and comfy. There is a bunk bed with comfy blankets, a table, and a shelf with a wonderful variety of interesting books, lights, and plug outlets. And, of course, I cannot forget to mention the lovely balcony, the easy, wide stairs, and the basket to pull items up in. The restroom in the house is steps away and private. We cannot wait to stay here again! Thanks for the awesome visit! :)

  • Kenny's place was perfect for us and just as described by other reviews. We had a sudden change of plans and Kenny was very accommodating on short notice. The tiny house, treehouse, sauna and hot tub were a hit with our group. The home was very convenient for walking to buy groceries and for dining. It was reasonably close to the airport which was a priority for us. All in all, a great stay.

    Craig2017-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • oh my god this is airbnb's best kept secret. so i don't want to tell you about it. but i will. kenny is a hilarious genius builder bike collecting host man and his treehouse is a total beauty. we had the most fabulous time riding the cruiser bikes along the river and then swimming in a sort-of swimming hole, then star watching/beer drinking/game playing up in our little tree home. amazing. the next day we went into p-town--really not a far/bad drive at all!!!! GREAT. WEEKEND. cant recommend enough!!

    kirsten2012-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • We did two separate night stays here, so please reference the review I just left on this amazing gem of a place. I almost regret posting about it! I would love to keep it secret, as the more people that know about this place might get it before we can! :P

Come stay in a Tiny House getaway in the country half way between Mt. Hood Skiing & Portland Nightlife. You will be surrounded by the natural wonders of farm life, horses, peacocks, goats & friendly cats all here to brighten your stay at Corbett Farm
*** Please Note*** During the winter months (Jan, and Feb) if the temps are expected to drop below freezing the water is shut off in the tiny house. In the off chance that temps are below freezing when you arrive the Tiny House remains cozy and the main farm house is available at your convenience for use of the kitchen and a private bathroom. The tiny house is a one of a kind design. It is a simple home with a cabin feel. The walls are tongue and groove cedar panelling giving the space a wonderful scent. A sleeping loft with sitting height ceiling (for most) is reached by a ladder to a comfortable Queen size mattress made locally with organic cotton. All sheets and bedding are also organic cotton. The house is insulated with natural wool keeping the house cool in the summer and cozy in the winter months. Two skylights in the house give you a feeing of being perched in the trees. This particular tree is also a common evening roosting spot for the farms peacock inhabitants. Don't be alarmed if you see one peaking in while you are cooking breakfast. The small kitchen contains basic amenities. It has a dorm size refrigerator with mini freezer, electric water kettle, toaster, gas stove/oven, and sink. The toilette is a simple bucket composting system and should not smell with proper maintenance. Each guest will be asked to remove their toilet waste from the tiny house upon leaving. This is simple and is not as bad as it may sound. Their will be clear instructions in the house on your arrival. For your bathing needs a small shower is also inside. The hot water comes from the 10 gal. water tank and takes less than 30min to reheat. All shampoo and soap amenities are provided for your use. If you do decide to use personal soaps please make sure it is biodegradable because the house grey water is used for farm watering. All house cleaning products are non toxic and biodegradable. Bedding is cleaned with non scented hypoallergenic soaps and air dried.
Woods and Small Farms Higher Elevation en route to Mt. Hood. Numerous rivers and streams, good fishing nearby, Hiking & Biking Trails abound.
  • The Corbett Farm and tiny house is truly a gem (even in the rain)! It is like entering a different world just 40 or so minutes from Portland, from the friendly animals to Stuart's graciousness to the mountainous bucolic setting! Plus, a very special little house and incredibly comfy bed (which you can zip line right into)! Thank you for the experience, Stuart!

  • I had such a special stay in this tiny home; the pictures don't do it justice! The home (expertly designed, exceedingly charming) is on a beautiful property and very close to some of Oregon's most beautiful nature. Stuart is a FANTASTIC host. He's agreeable, wicked friendly, accommodating, helpful and easy to contact. I suggest that anyone who comes to Oregon consider staying here. I certainly hope to return someday soon!

    Amy2015-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Stuart was an amazing host and made this an amazing experience. He was very welcoming and encouraged us to explore or relax as much as we wanted. Stuart had a beautiful property with plenty to see and experience, including peacocks, horses, chickens, goats and so much more. The animals didn't make too much noise and definitely loved getting attention, but would were never intrusive. This was truly great and cannot recommend this enough!

    Shane2017-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • The tiny house was beautiful, but the farm was exquisite! The winding road he leads to the farm just adds to the charm of it all. Overall I loved my stay, I would recommend bringing earplugs if you're a light sleeper. The roosters are early risers!

    Jenny2017-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Our experience at Stuart's farm was amazing! The tiny house is cute and comfortable and the surrounding landscape is so beautiful. The horses were a great addition to the experience - we went for a ride and got to hang out with two of the new baby horses! Stuart was really warm and welcoming - he shared some of his barbecue experiments with us, gave us a great horseback riding experience, recommended a yummy local place for dinner, and made sure we had fresh coffee for our early morning adventure the next day. Overall - a really great experience. We highly recommend this place!

    Rawson2015-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Stuart is so kind and the property makes you feel like you're miles away from the city - although in fact you're very close. It was relaxing and Stuart's hospitality rivaled some 5 star hotels we have stayed in. Book this one for a relaxing evening and a fun and lively morning among the many animals. We LOVED it!

    Claire2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Where do I start?! This place is beautiful, away from it all yet so close to the city. Stuart was extremely kind and went above and beyond what was expected. Our kids couldn't stop saying how much fun they had. So many sweet and friendly animals, beautiful landscape, clean and lots of hot water. Check out his other accommodations coming soon like an old bus turned beautiful! I can't recommend this place enough.

    Darby2017-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • My son and I had a lovely stay on Corbett Farm. We are repeat visitors and we're happy to have visited Stuart's farm friends once again.

Arrive anytime after 3PM and you can stay until 12PM on your last day. (Just in case one last hike is desired) Once you register, I will help you plan an itinerary as there are so many choices. Before your arrival, I will Email you additional information about other possible adventures close by. There is a notebook about 'one day' adventures you can choose to explore while you are here. There is wifi on the premises, a video and a DVD library. A full kitchen minus dishwasher awaits you as does a bathtub big enough for serious soaking! No need to bring coffee, creamer and sugar! Decks with rockers are yours to enjoy while watching the river and wildlife. A magical tree house is here for you to enjoy too. This apartment is a great place for a slumber party or retreat! This is an upstairs apartment with a deck overlooking the river. So, you will need to be able to climb stairs. Children do need to be supervised at all times because of the River Access. There is a Graco crib-bed if needed. Pets are allowed as long as your pet stays on your lap, if necessary, and remains off the furniture and beds. When you leave Rivers Rest for your daily adventures, it is appreciated if your pet goes with you. We ask that your dog stays outside until dry! This is a great space for a bride and her bridesmaids to have a slumber party and to get ready before the big wedding at Capehorn Estates! (20 minutes away) I received a thank-you card that said... "We now have a problem. We will expect ever place we stay to be as nice as your "Get-away Apartment." I would love to share this corner of the world with you. This part of the Pacific Northwest, including the Columbia Gorge, is quite beautiful! Cindy
A Mercantile Store is walking distance away. It has everything when you are in a pinch. They have wine and beer and great sandwiches and u-bake pizzas. You will also be able to buy a fishing license and a Discovery pass you will need to hike in Washington at this store. There is a Safeway in Camas or Washougal for serious grocery shopping! ( You may want to shop there before heading up Washougal River Road.) "The Lady Next Door" catering service is another option for you. Once here, you can place your order for different meal and snack choices. Your order will be delivered to your door! (You may request a menu before your trip to help with your "food plan") Cape Horn School and Malfait Park are walking distance away. It has a great Tennis Court, (we have racket and balls), a rubberized track, half mile walking trail and playground equipment for kids.
  • River Rest was very comfortable with plenty of space for 6 adults. Although it rained a lot during our short stay, we enjoyed the spirit of the beautiful river, quality family time and short excursions to the Gorge. Cindy went out of her way to ensure our comfort. We look forward to a return trip!

    KAREN2017-12-04T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful setting with a great view of the river. Had all of the amenities stated, but with limited wifi access...you have to stand on the deck or near a window to gain access. The bed was very comfortable and the space was large. My only complaint would be that it was listed as the entire place, but their personal office was not separated from the residence by a locking door, which made it feel like a shared space. However, this never became an issue and it was still private and comfortable.

    Jennifer2016-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at rivers rest. The house was completely stocked with everything we needed, including an excellent book collection on local plant and wildlife as well as great reading on the history of the region. Cindy also supplied walking sticks and detailed info on nearby hikes and attractions. However we were completely content to spend every day relaxing on the beautiful stretch of the Washougal River right at our door step, fishing and floating quietly on the inner tubes Cindy provides , along with chairs to sit on and a table . Perfect for a family with a four month old daughter and the grandfather. Deer, birds, butterflies, trout, peace and quiet. Cindy was ready to help with anything we might require.

    Brett2016-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • This has honestly been one of the best airbnb experiences I've had. Cindy's communication with us prior to and during our stay was outstanding. She is an extremely lovely person and her hosting skills are top notch. The place itself just blows you away. Cosy, warm and welcoming - and in a beautiful setting. It has absolutely everything you need to make you feel at home, including a mammoth set of touristy books and a manual that Cindy has written herself. On our first day it chucked it down with rain - and before we had even woken up - Cindy had left umbrellas on our porch and a hand drawn map of where we could go and what we could do. It was a brief but wonderful experience and I would (and will) absolutely recommend it to anyone who is visiting the area. Thank you Cindy and Todd x

    Jess2016-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay a lot. Despite the remote location, which turned out to be a plus for fun at the river bank, the place was very nice! Todd put a lot of work on building the property, and it is beautifully decorated with themes and full of surprises. The tree house was fun to visit, the badminton gave kids a nice workout, and the walk down the river bank was refreshing!! 20min to Portland downtown is manageable too!

    Edward2015-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • What a fantastic first experience with airbnb. Cindy and Todd are gracious hosts and friendly. I felt like I was staying at a family Mir friends home. This apartment is comfortable, quiet, and clean. Beautiful! I wish I could of stayed another day and relaxed on the deck. Thank you!

    Tim2015-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Loved the hospitality, comfort, views and sound of the river as we slept. Oh, and the ground coffee and half & half creamer provided was a delightful surprise. The kitchen contained all we needed and more than anticipated. It was nice to use the crockpot for homemade soup. The grounds are beautiful with treehouse, decks, walkway to river. Miss Cindy also provided a S'mores basket containing all we needed. Including a place and wood for firepit.

Private Guest Cottage on Horse Farm Sanctuary. 30 miles East of Portland, foot-hills of Mt. Hood. Close to Sandy & Colombia Rivers. Ski, Snowboard Mt. Hood, Fish, Ride. Trail Rides & Riding Lessons available upon request for a very reasonable fee.
When I was kid I used to love reading about Horseback Riding Holidays in England and Ireland. Well how about that very same thing just outside of Portland? Welcome to Corbett Farm.
The neighborhood is best described as calm and tranquil. Lots of trees, fresh air and horses. If you enjoy fishing you are close to both the Sandy and Colombia Rivers. Dec/Jan-May/June the farm is a great spot for folks who want to ski or snowboard Mt. Hood and also spend time in Portland.
  • Stuart was difficult to get ahold of after I paid. I specifically asked about the tiny house and got booked for the apartment. After being displaced into the garage apartment (advertised as a cottage) I found the shower to be moldy and have dead bugs in it. The dishes are cracked and chipped. The dishes that were useable had dried food on them. These are huge health concerns. We had no idea where we could hike and explore. When I tried to discuss the miscommunication about the tiny house with Stuart he became dismissive. All in all I am very disappointed in our experience. This was a very expensive experience.

    Kimberley2016-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • Peacocks and Ponies won over our hearts. We loved staying at Corbett Farm and we loved Stuart. Stuart definitely went above and beyond in making our stay an enjoyable one. We loved the opportunity to take MayDay and KyKy out for a trail ride and Stuart got some great exercise too. If we ever get back in the area we will definitely stay at Corbett Farm again. Thank you for your hospitality Stuart.

  • Stuart was a wonderfully welcoming host. Had valuable recommendations for what to do in the area. Made our first AirBnB experience a joy and we would recommend to friends. And all the animals were friendly and delightful.

    Anna2015-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Stuart's listing was very accurate, and we had a lovely stay. He was a thoughtful host - from the personalized greeting card on the kitchen counter, to the beautiful peacock feathers as a send-off gift! We would certainly recommend a visit to Corbett Farm.

  • Stuart was a great host. The apartment above the garage was clean and comfy. My absolute favorite part of our stay was the 7 month old baby horses. They were SO sweet! Stuart took my husband out for a ride around the neighborhood and he had a great time getting to experience galloping on a horse for the first time. The location was perfect, just far enough out of the city for our taste. Thank you so much Stuart for opening your beautiful apartment to us. P.S. the farm fresh eggs were delicious!

    Amy 2016-04-06T00:00:00Z
  • My family (wife and 15 mo. son) loved staying here! Each morning we awoke to the sounds of farm life, and my son got a kick out of watching all the animals. We booked because we were looking for a place to sleep after a rafting trip. In hindsight, I would have cancelled rafting and spent the whole day at the farm. We would definitely love to come back, and next time we'll schedule time with the horses!

    Tony2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • The place is very nice quiet and Stuart is the man for the farm!!! Horses are amazing and the nature around just welcoming for adventures and horse riding. Thank you Stuart!!!!

    Pavel2015-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay with Stuart was delightful, magical, and rejuvenating. My partner and I were completely won over being so close to horses and peacocks. There were also two sweet cats and an old Shit-Tzu you could say hello to throughout the day. Stuart is a very kindhearted individual who made us feel right at home. If you have the chance, I would suggest going for a horseback ride. Though it was my partner's first time on a horse and my first time back on a horse in six years, Stuart was both patient and assistive toward us in getting comfortable before we set off on our venture. He then took us through a very beautiful and calming ride along a nearby trail. During our ride, Stuart also let two of the smaller younger horses join us for the ride, which made our ride even more special and splendid. Our entire trip was wonderful, and we have every intention of visiting again :)

This charming one room cabin with loft is privately situated on the edge of our home's yard and woods. Hand scribed pine logs, woodsy & antique interior and a wood stove make it a perfect retreat after a day of hiking in the Columbia River Gorge.
  • WOW! We absolutely loved this cabin. Cozy doesn't even begin to describe the good feelings you get upon settling in. We spent the day hiking multnomah and took the short 15 minute drive to Jan's humble abode. We were greeted with baked goods, a welcome sign and Jan's smiling face. We built ourselves a fire and spent the night playing board games and cards, then turned in up above in the comfy loft bed. All around lovely experienc!

  • Jan, your place was awesome! I wish we could have stayed longer but we had to head out early for pictures. It's a little ways out there but totally worth it. Jan was a great host - we didn't arrive until late and she stayed up to greet us and give us a quick tour. The cottage was stocked with games, coffee, snacks, and some breakfast food. We'd go back for sure.

  • Great experience! Space was exactly as advertised and Jan was very friendly and accommodating. We had some trouble finding the house due to the secluded location, but it only made the experience better. Would recommend to anyone!

  • We had a wonderful visit in Jan's lovely log cabin. Jan was very kind and helpful. She recommended we visit Vista Point to see the sunset. It was beautiful. We had everything we needed for comfort and many extras. The coffee cake was yummy. Thanks Jan. We will be back.

  • We enjoyed our stay at this quiet and well located cabin just up the hill from the Vista House in the Columbia River Gorge.

  • We showed up just as the sun was setting and Jan promptly greeted us, (in the dark, with the grace of a cave guide commanding a flashlight) after our long day of Mt. Hood and Gorge adventuring. The Cozy Log Cabin is tucked down a secluded drive and stocked with hobbit stuff, neat fireside books, biscotti and simple pleasures. We immediately felt at home and enjoyed the warmth- and warm it was- of the wood stove and silence of the mountainside. A wonderful host and tranquil space, I'd recommend Jan's Cozy Log Cabin to any traveler looking for an affordable retreat tucked away in the Columbia River Gorge.

  • Jan was wonderful. We had a delicious cake topped with strawberries upon our arrival. Jan welcomed us and gave us a tour of the cabin and restroom. Fresh picked flowers were placed lovingly throughout the cabin. We travelled with a toddler and 8 month old. The couch was a pull out bed and we co-slept with our toddler and we brought a mini playpen for our baby. We had plenty of room. The other cabins that I was looking at around the area were not suitable for children, but Jan's lovely cabin was very comfortable for us. I would boil the water for the baby's bottle and put it in our thermos for our outings. For bath time I would run the hot water from the restroom sink and put it in a pot that I found in the pantry. I also used the stovetop and pots for soup and rice just washing it in between uses, but completely multifunctional. Jan said to leave the used dishes in a basket by the front and she would take care of it, but if you're like me and don't want to burden anyone else perhaps bring a little bottle of dishwashing soap. Hot water was always available and there was a mini fridge to store our perishables. I brought some of the camping mugs from the cabin with us on a picnic by Horsetail Falls. I had a thermos with us and I packed a hot cider packet. It was a really heartwarming experience for us as a family eating our sandwiches overlooking the falls. Upon arrival to our cabin we were met with a few children's books and toys for my littles on the porch, which was a sweet gesture that we much appreciated. Everything was perfect for our stay. Have already recommended the place to friends and family. Most definitely would stay again. Perhaps without the kids!

The large kitchen and the open layout lends itself to gatherings; the private location lends itself to romantic getaways. Enjoy the view from the treehouse of the Columbia River, Portland, and the Coastal mountains, and watch one of the SPECTACULAR sunsets. Natural grass stage and amphitheater seating for 100+ Sleeps up to 14 people (200+ camping for special events) The house is an open layout with no room dividers; a welcoming gathering space.
•Wild peacock roaming the site •Lots of wildlife (deer, birds, coyotes, rabbits, Peter the Party Peacock) •Large treehouse cabin with deck •Hot tub that seats 8 (more if you get cozy) •Gazebo, multiple fire pits, lawn games •Less than 3 minutes from Cape Horn Trail (spectacular views of the gorge from a 1200 foot tall cliff) •No pets •Non-smoking only •Caretaker lives on site
When I bought this place, it was literally a junkyard, with dozens of rusted out cars spread around everywhere. I've spent the last 20 years cleaning it up in my spare time, and with my spare cash. This is my favorite place in the world. I want you to feel that way when you are here too. If you don't see something you might want, feel free to ask me any questions. Ivan PS: Check us out on social media (search Hooper Hill), give us a review, and a like, and tag us in your pictures…
  • This is a true hidden gem of a property. It's really just a stone's throw from Portland -- we live in the city and it took us about 30 minutes to get there, and you can even see the city skyline very far in the distance if you squint -- but it feels like its own world. The view of the Gorge is great and it's a stone's throw from some wonderful hiking and the ample small town charms of Washougal, Stevenson, Carson, Cascade Lakes and other great Gorge towns. The property itself is a clear labor of love. I booked a weekend for my wife and I and some friends to celebrate her birthday and between the big communal kitchen, the outdoor theater, the hot tub and the amazing sunsets, a great time was had by all. Ivan's a lovely host, very communicative and accessible and thoughtful; he even left a bottle of champagne for my wife's birthday. Truly a magical weekend. I'd go back anytime.

  • This house is a true gem - the location is stunning and the space is very well designed for having best time ever. Ivan is a wonderful host and is very accommodating. I couldn't recommend this house more and looking forward to staying there in the future!

    Ilya2017-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • What more is there to say -- this place is incredible! Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer, and the only downside is that we never got to meet Peter the Peacock. Ivan was responsive and accommodating, and met us at checkin to show us around. He really had thought of everything; plenty of towels, dishes, soaps, etc. There were even fresh eggs for breakfast! After offering us a bottle of champagne, Ivan took leave and we had the place comfortably to ourselves. The house is situated in a quiet place just up the hill from Washougal, close to town and nearby hikes and vistas in the Gorge. The space is open and inviting, and stayed cool all day with no AC, even with 95 degree weather outside. For a group of three we had plenty of room to sleep, but could have comfortable brought 2-3 more friends for the weekend. There's a hot tub with a perfect view of the night sky, and tons of outdoor games and activities that we didn't have the time to take advantage of. Overall I would definitely recommend this as a great place for a small quiet getaway for a group of 3-6 people. I hope to come back soon!

  • Our stay at Hooper Hill was excellent! Beautiful home was a great place to host a large dinner party for my wife's birthday. A snowstorm resulted in parking being an issue, and a good walk/hike up and down the long driveway. Ivan was super and the house had everything we needed and more. Kids had a blast and grown ups too. Thank you Ivan! We will love to come back.

    Ryan2016-12-11T00:00:00Z
  • Everything about our stay at Hooper Hill Guest House was perfect! Ivan was always incredibly prompt with email replies/making sure we were on the same page. He was also super accommodating and provided thorough directions/information before and during our stay. The property itself is gorgeous (from Peter the Peacock roaming the lawn to the open concept interior and beautiful kitchen) and in a great, secluded neck of the woods. I couldn't ask for more from an Airbnb host and can't imagine staying anywhere else next time I'm in the area!

    Patrick2016-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Hooper Hill! We shot a movie there, and it worked out marvelously. Ivan is an incredible host, and went way out of his way to make us feel welcome. Such a nice guy! The house itself is great. A cool combination of rustic meets modern. We loved the hot tub after a long day of shooting, and the location is just gorgeous. It's up on a hill in a very wooded area. Spectacular views. I had several people in my group say that they: a) wanted to shoot another movie there again, and b) would love to book this place for a vacation in the future as well. It was a huge hit with our group!!

Close to PDX, Portland and the Columbia River Gorge. The Garden Apartment has a private entrance from the main house. The bedroom has a queen bed along with two futons in the living area. There is a full kitchen and laundry room. Enjoy a beautiful view of the Columbia River from the covered patio with a futon for lounging, and table and chairs for your outdoor enjoyment. Our place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and families.
The kitchen is fully stocked. It has a gas stove & oven, full refrigerator, microwave, toaster, blender, crockpot & cookware. Breakfast food to get you started is provided; eggs, bread, butter & jam for toast, coffee, tea, orange juice and milk. There is a propane stove to warm and light up chilly days and nights. The futons open for comfortable sleeping with feather beds. Also a twin airbed can be set up in the common area if that is a good sleeping option for your group.
Our home is located on 12 acres and this private location is visited regularly by deer and other wildlife. We are close to the Columbia and Washougal rivers. We are located about five minutes from Washougal, 30 minutes from PDX and about 45 minutes from downtown Portland. We are minutes away from some great hikes in the Gorge. The Washougal Motocross Track is 10 minutes away.
  • When we arrived, Suzy immediately greeted us (even though we were later than we thought), and made us welcome. The fridge was stocked with juice, milk, eggs, bread, and coffee and tea. The Garden apartment is sweet! Private, looks out onto the lawn and vista of the far mountains. Very comfortable, well-outfitted with all you need (unlike some places where there's not even salt and pepper!) for your stay. Suzy was a wonderful host. We hiked in the Gorge, and had a lovely personal retreat (we live in Portland). Saw deer and baby fawns on the property, and the day we left, Suzy spied a bobcat! We heard lots of birds, and owls at night. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Do know...this is rural Oregon...and if you want to be in nature, in quiet, and have space...this is the perfect place. Thanks Suzy, for such a great experience!

  • WOW. Highly recommend Suzy's place. My boyfriend Jaron and I had a wonderful night in Washougal and wished we could be there several more. Our highlight was enjoying the view with a glass of wine on the patio at night, and a coffee the next morning. Suzy accomodated us EXTREMELY last minute (we had a last minute cancellation in housing and ended up booking our airbnb over dinner in Portland). Suzy cleaned the apartment and had everything spotless by the time we got there. She went above and beyond in this space - providing everything from fresh eggs in the fridge, to popcorn, to lovely toiletries in the bathroom. Every need was accounted for. Lovely host, lovely place! Do yourself a favor and stay here - you won't regret it.

  • Suzy's place was fantastic and exactly as expected. The view was beautiful, especially sunset. She kindly welcomed us and made us feel at home, providing breakfast amenities (bread, eggs, jams/pb, milk). The place is about a 30-40 min drive from Portland, but if you like hiking, there are many hikes on the Washington side of Columbia River that are easily accessible. If you want a nice getaway from city life or are planning a hiking trip, I would not hesitate to recommend Suzy's place. I hope to stay again.

  • Beautiful place, amazing views, feels secluded but easy access to Vancouver, Portland, and the Columbia River Valley. Highly recommend staying here if you need to be near the city but aren't a city person, such a great relaxing vibe completely surrounded by nature.

  • Suzy was a wonderful host and the Garden Apartment is a beautiful place to stay during a trip to the Portland area. The space is private, with a large bedroom and bathroom and tons of kitchen supplies, and beautifully decorated. There is a lovely garden outside and a spectacular view of the Columbia river valley. Suzy was extremely accommodating to our travel plans as we arrived very late, and she left food and drinks for us to make our breakfast. Overall we had no complaints and we would love to stay again sometime if we're in the area. Highly recommend!!

We have the best of both worlds here in Corbett. Portland is about a 30 minute drive. We are less than 20 minutes from amazing waterfall hikes, fishing, 1 hour from skiing, class 3/4 river rafting, kite boarding, and wind surfing in the gorge. You can hike the Pacific Crest Trail- only 30 minutes from our home.
You'll have the entire bottom floor all to yourselves, with a private entry. Super comfortable queen size bed with private bath. Relax here on the two large couches with a flat screen TV and Netflix. 6 large windows and a glass slider door looking out over our 5 acre pasture. It also has a small refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker. Linens, soap, and shampoo are also provided. Also, has A/C and heat. Private living area is approx. 800 square feet. If you have more than two in your party, we have a Coleman Premium Double High 18" Airbed that we will set up for you. If you enjoy fishing, the Sandy River is just down the road from us. You can catch salmon and steel head. We're happy to lend you our BBQ when you return with your catch! Just 20 minutes from here is the town of Gresham. Its population is just over 100K. The downtown has some really great restaurants and cool shops. You can also go on a 20 mile bike ride from Gresham to downtown Portland. It's one long, well maintained bike/walking path. Even closer, less than 15 minutes away, is the quaint, old town of Troutdale. It's population is just over 16K. The downtown has some great restaurants, fun antique stores, and an outlet mall. Less than a mile from there is a major outdoor concert venue that's mainly operational in the summer time. Past performers include Adele, Heart, Bob Dylan, Fun, Willie Nelson, The Pretenders, Sugarland, Norah Jones, Steve Miller, ZZ Top, Tony Bennett, Michael Franti, Train, Sheryl Crow, and many others. Leaving here to the I-84 on-ramp is about 10 minutes. A 30 minute drive to the west on I-84 will take you to downtown Portland or heading east takes you to the scenic Columbia River Gorge. Also, the airport is 25 minutes away. Portland offers diverse cultural experiences- awesome restaurants, entertainment (plays, concerts, etc.) great stores and charming neighborhoods. Very bike friendly! Beautiful clean city! The Columbia River Gorge offers many unbelievable hiking trails (many with waterfalls), river rafting, kite boarding and wind surfing. Skiing is about an hour drive from here on Mt. Hood. ( Timberline, Mt. Hood Meadows and Mt. Hood Skibowl). Skibowl has the largest night skiing terrain in the country. Come enjoy!
Two charming, small, country stores are within 3 miles (Corbett Country Store & Big Bear Country Market). Big Bear's has a small restaurant inside of it. The other has sandwiches, ribs, etc. All of our neighbors have about 5-50 acres.... peaceful and lots of space.
  • My boyfriend and I had a great stay at Robert & Wendy’s place! The room was exactly as shown and described. Very spacious, clean and comfy room! Wish we could’ve booked our entire trip at this place! Definitely coming back :) We didn’t have the pleasure of meeting them in person, but hopefully next time we will! Also, they were very quick at responding to our messages even though they were on a little vacation which I thought was very nice of them! They also had great recommendations! I give this place 5 stars for sure! Thank you❤️❤️

  • Rob and Wendy are amazing! Great hosts!

    Nathan2017-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • Hideaway Acres is an absolutely gorgeous, peaceful place to stay. I was attending a music camp at a lovely nearby conference center, and this made it even more of a retreat....when classes were over, I could go "home" to this wonderful land and flat (a separate daylight basement, very well appointed to make my own breakfasts). I would buy a bit of hot dinner at the great Corbett Country store (en route), watch a good Netflix show on the big screen TV, and sleep soundly in the most comfortable bed and bedding I've ever been in! The hosts are very welcoming, the dogs are such fun, and the setting is really beautiful -- alpacas and horses and sheep munching on green, green pastures all abloom with the spring daffodils. VIews out the glass walls to farms and toward the Columbia River, with cloudscapes changing by the minute. Just a few miles off the Historic Columbia Gore Highway with its series of waterfalls and forest glens. All of this is about 20 minutes from Portland and forty minutes from Hood River, both chock full of great things to see and do. I've already booked myself back for next year, and hope to stay for a weekend sometime before then with my husband, who hasn't seen it yet. Thank you, Wendy and Rob, for creating such a great stay!

    Tina2017-04-10T00:00:00Z
  • Wendy and Robert have created an inviting place for their guests, from necessities like the comfortable bed to small details like a soft and warm throw for cuddling up on the couch, upscale toiletries, and detailed maps with their recommendations for touring the area. We enjoyed snacking on the popcorn, fruit and chocolate they left for us--so welcome while we stretched out on the couch after a long day of traveling. Communication was excellent and they made sure we were welcomed and that all of our questions were answered. Though not far from a main highway, the setting is secluded and scenic. The rising moon which peeked out through the trees during a break in an otherwise cloudy day/night was the icing on the cake! We would stay here again anytime.

    Anita2017-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Well I only stayed here for about 12 hours, Robert and Wendy were very accommodating. They met me and came in and gave me a whole bunch of ideas of places to eat, places to go, and things to do! The house is great on a very secluded area of about 5 acres with a couple farm animals and a horse or two. The place is clean and everything as promised. Just one little word of warning which is at to get to the room do you have to go down some narrow and steep stairs, just take your time and be careful. The accommodations themselves and I would love to stay again.

    Rachel2017-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome hosts, awesome location, loved everything about it!

    Michelle2016-08-01T00:00:00Z

Come see our beautiful farm and enjoy all of the animals.  Listen to the horses down below and enjoy the sound of the creek (maybe not this summer). The Horse Barn Apartment is about 420 square feet but you have many acres to enjoy. This sleeps three; there is one queen bed and one twin bed (with really good mattresses) along with bedding for both.  The Bath House is a separate building but only 20 feet away. You will be off the grid as there is no TV or computer.  Wi-Fi is 'spotty,' though.
Enjoy the Farmer For A Day Program at Old McDonald's Farm, Inc.  Stay over night in the Barn Apartment or the Farm Cottage and learn the feeding, health and housing needs of all of our farm animals the next morning if you choose to add on a Morning Chores package.  Have tea, coffee or hot chocolate and a light breakfast faire. The animals are always happy to see folks, especially with food in our hands.  An 'Add On' is a hay ride, a fire in our fire pit (unless there is a burn ban), Morning Chores package or horse riding lesson. Enjoy getting on our antique tractor, play on the horse swing, toss horse shoes, rope a fake cow, go for a nice walk, etc. Please relax and enjoy our beautiful farm.
We are located in a rural area just 1.2 miles off the Historic Columbia River Highway near Corbett, Oregon and about 4 miles to Crown Point and the Vista House where you can take in the expansive view of the Columbia River Gorge.  We are just 15 minutes from Multnomah Falls and many other beautiful falls along the Gorge.  We are located just 10 minutes to Troutdale, 15 minutes to Gresham, 20 minutes to the Portland Airport and about 30 minutes to downtown Portland.
  • Stephanie was a very attentive host and tried very hard to accommodate our needs. We were one of the first guest and she worked hard to correct any missing details. Not that there were really thing concerning. I would recommend it but know it is a farm and there are animals so if that bothers you this would be the right fit. We enjoyed it very much. Beautiful setting

    Robert2017-05-24T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our time on the farm so much. The animals and the peaceful surroundings were lovely. Stephanie was a great tour guide and helped us feel welcome.

  • We visited Old MacDonald's farm after the solar eclipse! Our 8 year old loved Morning Chores on the farm. Great intimate experience for suburban kids! Wish we could have lingered some more. It was close proximity to Portland as well as white water rafting on the White Salmon River! Oregon is so beautiful.

  • We loved staying at the Old McDonald farm. Stephanie's place is one of a kind experience. It was clean, the barn was charming and the animals were adorable. We enjoyed the farmer for a day program too. We would love to stay here next time we are in Portland.

  • Staying at the farm was AMAZING! Stephanie was so kind and accommodating. It's definitely the place to stay when visiting this area. You are so close to all the waterfalls, hiking, and beautiful forests. But the farm is so relaxing and so beautiful. Fresh eggs for breakfast!!! Everything you need for a home away from home. We'll definitely be back again when we can stay longer and not have to work. :) We HIGHLY recommend staying here!

  • Highly recommend! This is a very special, unique experience. Anyone visiting the Portland area should definitely considering staying here, especially if you have kids. It is in a great location: easy 20 minute drive from the airport and just off the Historic Columbia River Highway, which makes it perfect for visiting the gorge and all its beautiful waterfalls. We had our 9 month old daughter who LOVED getting an up close and personal experience with all the animals. It is a farm, but the accommodations are very clean and comfortable and not funky at all. Fresh chicken and duck eggs for breakfast, yum! All the animals are very friendly and chill and used to people. You do have to walk to the bath house, but it is not far and is well lit at night. Can't recommend enough.

That VIEW! Your river getaway is located at the mouth of the “Gorge”ous Columbia River Gorge, however, this cozy home is only 25 minutes away from Downtown Portland and less than a 20 minute drive from the Portland Airport. Although close to town, you are even closer to seemingly endless outdoor wonders, such as the 1000 acre dog park, dozens of waterfalls, miles of hiking, and excellent fishing. It’s also a great jump off to skiing Mt. Hood, windsurfing on the Columbia and visiting Hood River.
The home’s interior is warm and quiet. It has a functional kitchen/dining room at your disposal and a nicely furnished living room with a sectional sofa and plenty of space to stretch out. One bedroom has a comfortable queen size bed with a nice view of the river. The other bedroom is furnished with two twin sized beds with a closet for storage. We provide most necessities you need while traveling, including fresh linens and towels. We want you to be very comfortable staying at our home.
The house is located right off the Corbett exit, tucked on the hill with 3 other homes. The railroad and freeway are close by, however the house is well-insulated, so it is quiet inside. You may hear the train go by, which we have actually grown to enjoy.
  • This place is excellent because of the view of the Columbia River and beyond. The open kitchen, dining area and living room were great for the two of us, especially the large sofa--two people can lie down on it! The bedroom is cozy but not too small with a really comfortable bed. Although the train tracks and freeway are close by, we could not hear them when inside. We missed having the internet but for one night we survived!

Stunning views in beautiful, quiet home on 5 wooded acres. Close to Portland but in the Columbia River Gorge scenic area for a balance of nature, beauty and proximity to the city. We love to share this amazing cedar home.
Also available for retreats, weddings and day long gatherings
We are at the end of the road with a breathtaking view of Mt Hood and the mighty Columbia River. Our majestic home is in the country but just a few minutes off of Hwy 84 and easy to find.
  • Christina and Denise were wonderful hosts! The space is cozy and serene—nestled right in the heart of Gorge but still just a quick drive from Portland. Would highly recommend this hidden gem!

  • Well hard to figure out where to start! What a great place, out in the country yet only 10 min using the Stark Street bridge into Gresham or 10 min using the troutdale bridge to downtown troutdale and the outlet stores, not to mention less than 10 min to I-84 to go East or West. Now what to say about location, a gorgeous view looking North and overlooking the Columbia River. Now if you want to relax in the 2 person hot tub, imagine soaking and looking at the stars on a clear night!!! Come spend a night or two in the Columbia River Gorge in your very own tent with a bed! It's cosy and has a lovely view of the Columbia River. Guests have access to the bathroom in our home but have complete privacy as the tent is 300 yards from the house, nestled in the woods with a view. As this is a camping experience, be aware there no electricity or wi-fi.
We provide lanterns for the tent and a light breakfast in the morning, served on our deck. Please be aware that I-84 is below our hilltop, so the freeway noises can be heard.
  • This is without any doubt THE BEST stay in this area!! Susan and her family are super nice, the view is beautifull and the tent is amazing. Also the freshly baked breakfast is delicious! PS; if you are planning on doing some hiking they also have the best tips for the surrounding area!! Absolutely recommend this one!!

  • Really beautiful views, wonderful glamping experience. Had a blast. I would recommend anyone to stay here especially if you like waking up to one of the most beautiful views!

    Tory2017-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • To say this would be the best view in town would be absolutely spot on! What an incredible experience! We will definitely be back!

    Candace2017-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Glamping at its finest!! This tent, tucked away in a secluded meadow, sported a comfortable bed and plenty of space, as well as books, portable lanterns, and extra blankets. Susan stocked us with firewood for the firepit that is set above a spectacular view of the Columbia River Gorge. In the morning, we were provided with tea, berries, yogurt, muffins, and granola-- much more than my friend and I had bargained for! The place was relatively easy to find, and getting in touch with Susan was very easy. We would definitely stay to glamp again!

  • Susan and family are welcoming. What a beautiful lush landscape above the Columbia Gorge. Glamping is private in a large clean tent with the best views looking up the Gorge past Crown Point. Comfortable queen bed while you enjoy the occasional trains traveling up the gorge at the bottom of the bluff below.

This spacious house has magnificent views overlooking the Columbia River. A 25 minute drive east from the Portland airport, Hagrid's Cabin sports a rural atmosphere, yet it's close enough that you can drive to Portland hotspots in less than an hour. A fully modern house, Hagrid's Cabin features large living areas with high ceilings, four full bedrooms, four full baths, and the amenities you expect like wifi. An outdoor hot tub overlooks the best of the view. It's kid and pet friendly.

Private guest house located in rural country setting. Loaded studio with loft. Covered porch with panoramic view of the Columbia Gorge. Loft is accessible through exterior stair case. Main living area has a Queen size Murphy bed. Covered deck and private entrance.
The main level is a studio style space with full kitchen and the living area is separated by a partition fireplace wall. The living space has a wall bed (Murphy Bed). The space is small and two chairs require to be slid to the wall in order to lower Murphy bed. The Bathroom has a shower stall, sink, toilet and washer/dryer. The loft upstairs is spacious with a floor mattress, sofa bed, desk and TV. WiFi is slow based on Satelite service.
Rural setting and neighbors are a 1/2 mile away minimum. There is a little road noise on a busy street.
  • Very comfy place, everything we wanted for a quick getaway. The fireplace, tv, and full appliances were great. Not much noise from the road and not too far from town.

  • Scott's place was great. We had no need to reach out to him, had a private driveway, a cozy fireplace and a lovely view from the porch in the morning into a beautiful yard. With easy access to the gorge roads this was a perfect spot for us and our dog to get away during our hiking weekend.

    Kari2017-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • Scott was great. My partner and I booked the day of and Scott approved our visit within hours, called to confirm the details, and everything was ready upon arrival. It was a beautiful location and the place was a great get away to the horrible weather in Oregon!

  • Such a wonderful place to stay! Perfect space for a couple, very beautiful and clean!

  • This was a great little secluded stay not far from the gorge! The access to the freeway was fast and easy. I greatly enjoyed staying and thankful Scott was welcoming to allowing my pup to stay. Thanks for the visit!

    Amy2017-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • Scott's place is in tucked into the woods of Washougal, WA - just a short drive away from the Columbia River gorge and all the surrounding watrerfall hikes in Portland. The back-house is quite close to their main house, but we were given plenty of privacy. Super easy to get around and explore from the location with a car. Place is clean and the Murphy Bed is surprisingly comfortable! You do have to do a little bit of heavy lifting to put the bed together though, so would not recommend for one person, or would just ask for it to be set up before you get there. Luckily I had my boyfriend there to do the hard work. :) The fireplace is awesome, though figuring it out was somewhat confusing. This is not a place to stay if you're looking to "go out" in Portland or Washington at night, but if you're looking for a remote peaceful hideaway after a long day of taking in all the gorgeous nature, I highly recommend!!!

  • This place was so perfect for us. We were two couples taking a day trip to Portland and the next day to the Columbia River Gorge sights. After spending the day at the Saturday market and having the most yummie dinner, we made the quick 30 min drive to this place. Had a great sleep and made breakfast before heading out the next day to see the waterfalls.

  • We felt very welcome. The caboose was cozy and clean and it was a perfect location to get away and to the countryside. There were blueberries in the fridge from bushes in front and we were welcome to pick plums. The caboose is a piece of history and we loved the old record player and old records. A perfect place for a family with kids (under 5 1/2 feet) or a romantic getaway for a couple. We'd come again for sure (next time without 6 foot son that has hay allergies). Thank you Jennifer!

  • What a charming place to spend the night! The caboose was cozy and comfortable and so appropriately decorated. There was a beautiful view from the windows. It was the perfect ending to our trip westward along the Columbia Gorge. Jennifer left us some breakfast goodies which were much appreciated.

  • Well appointed cozy Caboose. Great for me and my daughter who instantly wanted the loft. Nice setting and easy and convenient to get to. Nicely appointed in a train theme. It was a very fun, quiet place to stay.

  • It was a little bit hard to find first because my GPS didn't supply an exact address. But the host, Susan, kindly explained and also her family was very kind, and warmly welcome us. It seems like American traditional house surrounded mountain and river with amazing views. We fully enjoyed our stay, but the one night is not enough, as I wish I could stay more nights. The breakfast was perfect! Thank you.

    Natalie2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Susan was a great host waiting for me even after midnight to check in as I was held up by traffic. The home is a beautiful and authentically kept home that has a ton of tiny interesting bits and pieces of history everywhere. Breakfast on the deck overlooking the river was amazing and although I did not make it for sunrise, I imagine it is stunning!

  • Wes was the ultimate host. He was responsive and patient with my questions, and assured me that our family of 5 would enjoy our stay at his place. I was concerned that it would be too warm in the house because there was no central air conditioning. But I was wrong. Even though it was in the mid 90s in the Gorge, the stand alone air conditioning units in the living room and largest bedroom, along with floor fans, cooled the house down so much at bedtime that we had to shut them off. The location was perfect...the trail to Latourell Falls was a 1 minute walk from our front door, and the all of the hikes within the Gorge that we wanted to do were within a few minutes drive. We watched the most gorgeous sunsets from up the road at the Vista House at Crown Point. The beds and both couches were extremely comfortable and for our family. My 3 boys loved being able to watch their Netflix videos on the TV in the living room in between hikes. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed, so we were able to save money eating breakfasts and lunches there. When we felt like eating out, Downtown Portland was a quick 40 minute drive. All in all, this rental was everything we could ask for and more. Our family will be back again in the future. Thanks again for everything, Wes!

Quiet country studio apartment on 6 acres; 20 minutes from the airport, 30 minutes from downtown Portland and located at the west end of the magnificent Columbia River Gorge. Cheerful gardens surround the private entrance to this little slice of the Northwest. Suitable for people with limited mobility (in the summer).
Our daylight basement has been converted into an apartment for guests. It is a large studio with about 550 square feet of living space with 9' ceilings so you won't feel like you are in a basement. The efficiency kitchen has a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, and place settings for 2.
The area is close-in yet all houses are on 5 acre minimum lots. There is an "out in the country quiet feel" but close enough to Portland to drive in for dinner.
  • This trip was amazing! My wife and I needed a break from everything and this was it. The place was very clean and the surroundings were quiet. Jill and Dave were really nice and made us feel very welcomed. We will definitely be coming back again for a nice quiet getaway!

    Jason2016-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Jill and Dave were great hosts. Dave gave us suggestions about things to do and we planned an entire day based on his suggestions. The studio apartment was beautifully decorated and very spacious and clean. We would definitely recommend this country retreat.

  • This property sits high above the Columbia River with spectacular views of the valley. The lower level apartment is immaculate, quiet, and comfortable. Thoughtful touches include warm towels, Jill’s homemade granola, nightlights, and a first rate bed. Dave and Jill have numerous books on local trails, birds, and wildflowers for the outdoor enthusiast, useful when exploring the Gorge trails. We look forward to our next stay.

  • What a fabulous place Jill and Dave have! The lodgings were even better than described. Beautiful room and bathroom, with great furnishings. Snacks were also appreciated after a long day hiking. My boots were wet and they let me use a boot dryer, and let me use some great guidebooks and maps. Excellent stay! Thanks again!

  • This is really an A+ place to stay. The setting is beautiful and the room so carefully arranged with comfort and style. Jill and Dave are so friendly and offer before you even have a question about your stay. It is best if you have your own transportation as it is residential. You will love your stay here!!

  • Beautiful and spacious home! Comes with all the amenities needed for the perfect retreat from society. Everything is as described. She is great with communication and is accommodating. The only thing I'd suggest to future guests is to rent an SUV instead of a sedan. The last section of the road to the house is very bumpy.

We were disappointed that there wasn't much seating. There's no outdoor seating. Bring camping chairs if you want to sit outside. Otherwise it was stocked with everything else. Anjanette was very responsive and easy to reach if we needed anything.

  • We had a group of nine women who were going on a Divine Feminine retreat for a friend who is getting married the middle of October. We had planned this for months. And then the fires came. We were very concerned that our plans would need to change. But by Grace and with Grace we were able to keep our reservation. Anjanette kept us up to date with great contact and communication, letting us know when they were able to come back from the mandatory evacuation and they did a wonderful job preparing the house for our arrival. It was filled with love and energy and it was great to be close to the fire to send prayers in that direction as well. We definitely will be coming back a few times a year to enjoy the space. We look forward to taking advantage of some of your hiking trails as well. Thank you again for your hospitality and your flexibility. Who, LaNae

Enjoy the best of what our NW region has to offer from our central location. We are at the gateway to the Columbia Gorge and 45 min. from downtown Portland in a sparsely populated area (very quiet). Self serve breakfast (typically bagels/cream cheese, yogurt, fruit, coffee, juice, hard boiled eggs). Roam our 4 acres of trees and meadows. Check out our reviews to learn what others have experienced. Book soon to avoid missing out on a memorable experience.
Spacious room with comfortable queen bed (memory foam), dresser, nightstand and closet. Private bathroom is just down the hall. Enjoy your breakfast or an evening beverage on our beautiful tiger wood deck!
We are on a rural county road (paved) that has little traffic. It's very quiet, mosquitoes and other bothersome insects are rare which adds to outdoor enjoyment. The Columbia Gorge, Portland, Mt. Hood, Mt. St. Helen's, hundreds of wineries, craft brewers are within easy reach. You can enjoy great hikes, snow covered mountains and the Pacific coast. Small local towns ( 5 to 10 mins away) have great restaurants and plenty of small town activities. People are very pleasant and friendly in our NW culture. We are only 13 min. via shortcut from Washougal MX park for those attending and participating in events, we have the perfect place to stay. We are right at the gateway to the Columbia Gorge (fantastic scenes and hiking). 25 min. from Portland airport, 45 min. to downtown Portland. 1 1/2 hr. to the Pacific coast, 1 1/2 hr to Mt. St. Helen's and 1 1/2 hr. to Mt. Hood. centrally located to the best places to visit in the region.
  • Keith was one of the best hosts I've had so far on Airbnb. He and his wife were so welcoming to me and Steph and they were full of great info for the Portland area. The house was in a very quiet area with lots of fresh air. His garden was open to us and we loved his strawberries! Rainier was also a lovely host with lots of love and excitement for being petted! Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

    Max2015-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Keith and Barb were friendly and accommodating. The house was very clean and well kept! It had a nice wooden deck in the backyard surrounded by trees in a quiet setting. He provided bagels, juice, peaches and hard-boiled eggs for breakfast. A key code is given to open the front door. A great experience for my first Airbnb reservation!

    Ziggy2015-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • Keith and Barbara's home sits in the hills above Washougal. It is a nicely decorated newer home with lots of large windows for viewing the woods and yard even when it is raining. The bed was amazingly comfortable, but there was no TV in the bedroom.(which I was okay with) The wifi worked very well. Keith has an outstanding knowledge of the area and many suggestions of things to do. Rainier, their dog, is a real sweetheart. I enjoyed the time and conversations there. It is a nice place, a good value, friendly, helpful people, and I would love to go back.

    Mary Ann2017-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • Keith and Barbara's place is a gem if you are traveling by car and planning on exploring the gorgeous Columbia River, stopping by in Portland and doing some nice Oregon shopping. It's perfectly located within a 30-40 minutes drive to most of the interesting places in that area. It's impeccably clean, comfortable and private. Keith was very-very welcoming all along, responded to all our messages promptly, and gave amazing recommendations as to what to see and what to do. To top it all off, we had freshly picked home grown strawberries for breakfast:) So yes, we highly recommend this place!

  • Another great stay with Keith and Barbara! This was the 2nd time I stayed with them and as always I felt incredibly welcome. This is a great place to stay, comfy bed, clean home and good coffee. I will be staying here next time i'm in town.

  • Keith and barba were awesome hosts. Very friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was also very much appreciated each morning

    Peter2016-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • Keith and Barb friendly but also give you privacy. Keith immediately responds to messages and is flexible about coming and going. The house is open and gorgeous, sunny and quiet. Fresh picked strawberries in the summer. Also very kind to my 12 year old son, making conversation at breakfast. Would certainly return if in the area again. House on top of hill near Colombia River, driving 14 along the river a very pretty drive to Vancouver and Portland.

  • My girlfriend and I loved our stay here. Keith and Barbara were both extremely nice and Keith went way out of his way to provide some excellent suggestions on our way to the gorge. The place was very clean and quiet. We will definitely try and stay here again if we're trying to make it back to the area. Bonus perk was getting to play with their amazing dog.

This property has it all: stunningly beautiful and secluded, ultra-convenient, simple and welcoming, tranquil, adult playground/kid's paradise, with breathtaking views of the Columbia Gorge. About 20 minutes from Portland Airport (PDX), and 35 minutes to downtown Portland. The house is nestled away on a secluded six-acre farm on the east side of Washougal. At the Gateway to the Gorge, with countless iconic gorge hikes, waterfalls, horse trails, and sightseeing stops easily within your reach.
See what they're saying about the Columbia Gorge farm: "I'd rent this place again just for the views. It's truly amazing." Eric S "We have travelled all over using Airbnb. This is one of the most breathtaking spaces we have stayed at." Marc A "What a fantastic house! Not only is the house amazingly decorated and view breathtaking, but there are more yard games and activities than you could possibly enjoy in a week." Justin D The view was amazing! I will try to stay here every time I am in town. Josh was a great host." Drake H "Couldn't have had a better long weekend here. Loved every peaceful moment." Marissa R A large kitchen and local art-filled rooms make this a fantastic place to entertain or reunite with family and friends. The views abound, and the bedrooms are modest but lovely and inviting, with comfortable mattresses and attractive bedding. The windows are equipped with blackout curtains for a long, deep sleep - you earned it!
We are very secluded . . . while being only 20 minutes from the airport! A quick 35 minute drive away from downtown Portland if you avoid morning traffic! Recreational amenities: 2 fire pits, 5 disc golf holes, horseshoe pits, cornhole, croquet, bocce. Close to gorge hikes, scenic view points, good food and microbreweries.
  • Spent 3 nights on a getaway with visiting family. View is awesome - above the gorge - with lots of land to explore on property. The house is as described, modern remodel with eclectic art. The beds are very comfortable, lots of extra blankets and towels, simple and straightforward instructions for using electronics and recommendations for local hikes and dining. Easy to cook here - fully stocked kitchen (dishes, utensils, pots/pans). Hot tub was very clean, easy to use. Josh was very responsive to all texts/emails from initial inquiry to end of stay. He seems like a genuinely nice guy. This is definitely on our short list of places to return to and recommend to friends.

    Sarah2017-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • Host is excellent and very accessible. The place is private on a big lot. The views are incredible, sunset/sunrise are musts. The yard has a variety of activities for anyone - hot tub, fire pits (natural and ensemble), bbq grill, cornhole/bags, croquet, bocce ball, archery, badminton/volleyball net, frisbee golf... so many things to do. Acoustic guitar also, well tuned, and ready to jam. Modern place overall, clean kitchen/bathroom, and relaxing living area with netflix. Nice rooms, large and comfy beds. I'd rent this place again just for the view, it's truly amazing (this coming from a pnw native).

    Eric2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • We have traveled all over using Airbnb, this is one of thee most breathtaking spaces we have stayed at. The amenities second to none, feels like home too! I truly appreciated the wonderful communications from the host... thanks for a magical stay, we will be back!

    marc2017-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great house! If you are looking for privacy and amazing views, this is the place! The house is in great shape, well equipped, and very comfortable. You can watch the sunset over the gorge from the living room and front yard, and the sunrise over Mount Hood from the back patio. The goats greeted us everytime we went by and they were always wanting their chins rubbed. Without a doubt we'll be back this summer!

    allen2017-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • What a fantastic house!! Not only is the house amazingly decorated and the view breathtaking, but there are more yard games and activities than you could possibly enjoy in a week! If you're thinking about staying in the Gorge then just stay here.

Our home is located in Washougal, Washington, about a 15 minute drive to Vancouver and a 25 minute drive to Portland, Oregon. We are located in a pleasant neighborhood with a green belt and gentle stream running behind our home. Your basement bedroom has a nice view of the green belt. The lower deck is yours to use during your stay. There is a T.V., DVD player, internet connected Wii for streaming, mini refrigerator and microwave in the room. You are welcome to use our home gym as well.

  • Melissa and Tom are a wonderful couple. We felt so at home while staying with them! The fridge in our room was stocked with water, there was a basket of delightful snacks for us upon arrival, and yummy coffee in the kitchen every morning! I'm not sure if someone else has mentioned this, but when you stay here, it feels like you have the entire lower level and deck to yourself! We were in Washougal spending time with our daughter and grandkids, so we only had one opportunity to have breakfast with Melissa and Tom. It was delish and we loved having a chance to hang out with M&T! It's crazy how close to Portland we were. It only took about 25 minutes. (By comparison, it took us 40 minutes to get from downtown Portland to the airport! Granted, it was rush hour, but still!) Some nearby things to do and see: Beacon Rock for a gorgeous view (a lovely hike...our 4-yr-old grand-daughter did it with ease). The Fruit Loop for a scenic drive through Oregon's orchard/farm country. OMSI (they had a Pompeii exhibit while we were there) is a perfect way to spend a day with kids of all ages! It's in downtown Portland with plenty of parking. Main Street in Camas for antique hunting, adorable-ness, and delightful little restaurants. Big T's Restaurant in Stevenson, for yummy cheap eats with a Columbia River view and the nicest servers ever. Hike a section of the Pacific Crest Trail (there's a trail-head just before you get to Bridge of the Gods on highway 14, also known as the Lewis and Clark road). English Estate Winery in Vancouver, WA (I think this is the closest winery...tastings for $7, and great friendly people). Lacamas Park for stunning tall trees, Round Lake, easy trails, playground, picnic tables, fishing, skipping rocks and relaxing in beautiful surroundings. We loved our stay with Melissa and Tom! Hope to see them again soon! (Wait! Did I mention the bed and bedding were insanely comfortable? We slept like babies!)

  • Melissa and Tom were both fantastic hosts! They were both friendly and courteous, while also making us feel at-ease and welcomed in their beautiful home. The snacks and toiletries left out for us were very much appreciated after our long drive, and being able to sit out on the deck and listen to the trees was wonderful. And if Melissa offers to cook for you, don't say no! Breakfast was magical. :)

    Shannon2017-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • Melissa's place was very clean and private. I didn't spend much time there but she offered to let me use her exercise equipment if I wanted to workout. She offered to make me breakfast but I wanted to try a local place called OurBar. Great food!

This 1910 home has 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and is walking distance to the Columbia and Washougal Rivers, and nearby brewery. The PDX Airport is 15 minutes away and it's 30 minutes into Downtown Portland. Optional use of a treehouse and tiny house for an additional fee.
Rustic, eclectic, and charming, on a large city lot, this home, with optional use of a tree house, and tiny house can sleep 8 in the main home, and up to 12 people with use of the treehouse and tiny house. The main 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom house has 3 queen sized beds upstairs, and 1 king bedroom downstairs. There are two full private bathrooms, large stocked kitchen, dining nook, tv area, pellet stove, tree swing, porch swing, back patio, bbq, 2-3 person soaking tub, 2-3 person Finnish style wood powered sauna, and private washer and dryer, with plenty of places for lounging inside and out. This home has great hiking trails and mountain biking nearby, and is at the gateway to The Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area.
Washougal is a great spot. We are walking distance to the Washougal and Columbia Rivers and are located at the gateway to the historic Columbia River Gorge. You can walk to the grocery store, convenient stores, restaurants, breweries, and bars. The city of Washougal is much smaller and low key than Portland. We have more elbow room you might say, but we are also an easy 30 minute drive into downtown Portland and 15 minutes to the PDX Airport.
  • The house was in a great location. Close to a bunch of waterfalls. The house itself is clean and well stocked. Kenny was a wonderful host.

    Reemy2015-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time staying in Kenny's big house! The property is beautiful- we especially enjoyed the big front porch and swing in the yard- and the location was just what we wanted to access Portland as well as some beautiful hikes. This was our first time using air bnb, and if every place is this nice and makes it this easy, we will definitely do it again!

    Erika2015-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Kenny was very responsive and communicative with us for our stay. We rented all three of the spaces that he has on the property for a weekend volunteer retreat. The space was very well suited to our needs and allowed us to utilize the outdoor space. Kenny lives on site and checked in with us a couple times during our stay to make sure that we had everything we needed. Across the street the neighbor has a sign offering "Free Pitbull Kisses" which was a total delight.

    Shelly 2015-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • We rented Kenny's place for a few of our wedding guests to stay at. It was very clean and Kenny was very friendly and accommodating. The house is old and creeks; our guests said it was a little creepy. But overall they enjoyed their stay.

Our house is on 3 acres of land just 10 minutes outside of Portland. Our house was featured on HGTV's show "Beyond the Box" back in 2008 and in the Oregonian for some of our cool architectural features. We are located in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. Multnomah Falls and multiple other falls are just minutes away. We have un-obstructed views of the countryside and you can see Mt Hood and Mt Jefferson from the property. HGTV link: (URL HIDDEN)
My husband Scott built most of the furniture in the house as well as the kitchen cabinets and our one of a kind flooring. We have a unique 24' diameter silo attached to the house. The upstairs of the silo is the kids room equipped with a TV, gaming consoles and a swing hanging from the ceiling. There are 2 twin beds in this room. The master bedroom has a king bed and a one of a kind sauna-like shower. Downstairs is a bedroom with a double bed. My husband also built a hexaganol pool table that is in the living area! There is a fuse ball table in the downstairs silo room. We have a hard drive with 100s of movies and wifi.
You can see views of the rural countryside. You can see Mt Jefferson directly south (front yard) and Mt Hood to the southeast (from the front yard as well).
  • The host canceled this reservation 20 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.

This cozy, detached 1br/1ba cottage is located in a quiet neighborhood in charming Washougal. We are a 20 min drive from PDX, 30 min from downtown Portland and at the gateway of the Columbia River Gorge. We are happy to host well behaved dogs. Guests will enjoy their own full kitchen, bath with shower, queen size bed, and laundry. Train whistles are outlawed within city limits but you will hear the frequent rumble of rolling stock as the BNSF Fallbridge sub runs directly behind the property.
The cottage is located behind our house at the end of a dead end street. This location, coupled with the many tall trees which border the yard, make for a very private setting. The yard is frequented by squirrels, raccoons and the occasional deer. You may also enjoy the rare and unique monkey puzzle tree (Araucaria araucana) growing in the front yard. For railway afficianados, BNSF and Amtrack run on the Fallbridge sub directly behind the property.
We like the small town atmosphere coupled with the close proximity to both Portlandia's weirdness and the beautiful serenity of the river and the Gorge. You can walk to downtown Washougal and find a brewpub (Amnesia), wood oven pizza, steak, etc. place (Hearth), sushi (The Sushi Joint), deli/ice cream shop (Smiley's), and a unique breakfast experience (Our Bar) or waterfront dining and drinks (Puffin Cafe). We've been pleased to try out all these places in the short time we've lived here.
  • This is a sweet place. The trains rumble pleasantly but don't toot. The hosts are great!

    Ullas2016-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • This cute little cottage was exactly as described and pictured. Nestled in the backyard of Ray & Janice's main house, it felt private and provided a wonderful place to stay while we participated in an event at the Motocross Park. With train tracks behind the house, we expected it to be much louder, but it really wasn't bad (except for a few during the night), but R & J include that in their description. The surrounding neighborhood felt safe and walks with our dog brought several "hellos" and waves from friendly neighbors. R & J's guidebook for places to eat was great; the Amnesia Brewery downtown & Puffin Cafe on the water were excellent recs! Overall, we were quite happy with the accommodations and friendliness of our hosts, and would stay again if ever back in Washougal, which is a cute little, laid back town!

  • We arrived at an unusually busy time, the park the house sits on was having a dedication within the hour. Yet Rip stopped what he was doing and gracefully showed us around. The apartment was warm and welcoming, nicely appointed, clean and more than adequate for the 2 of us. We stayed for over a week, and never had any complaints. The bed was comfortable, the kitchen was wonderful to cook in (we even baked apple pies when we were there) and the sofa was a great place to curl up on after a long day of sightseeing to watch TV, read a book and relax. Rip was very communicative and prompt with responses to our questions: "Where is a good place for dinner?" "Troutini's!" (Delicious, fun drink menu) "Where should we go fishing?" "Fish here!" (We did, what fun!) I would highly recommend Rip as a host and this apartment as a place to stay. We had a wonderful trip and were the envy of family, who also used AirBnB, when they saw photos of our beautiful lodgings. Take the time to wander around the park looking at the beautifully crafted bronze work done by Rip. And don't forget to look up in the downstairs foyer for a surprise!

    Jen2017-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • Rip and Alison are the most gracious hosts - they make you feel like you have found a home away from home. The apartment is lovely, well appointed and has Rip's unique touches. The sink with frogs made us smile every morning. The gardens are so inviting that it is hard to get away to go do other things. Guess you can tell we loved it, highly recommend it and will stay there again next time we are in the area.

    Linda2017-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • This apartment is exactly as depicted in the photos. Very comfortable bed and futon. The full kitchen made our week-long stay comfortable and convenient. The grounds are lovely. We were happy to see a bald eagle a few mornings. Being just past the main street of town made for quiet evenings and relaxed mornings. I highly recommend this apartment and will be staying there again when business brings me back to the area.

  • An extraordinary oasis mere miles from downtown Portland and the stunning natural beauty of the world famous Columbia Gorge. The home is located in an area of incredible natural wonders; on the property are the ruins of a turn of the century fish farm, a natural spring fed pond stocked each spring with several varieties of trout (I understand a family of River Otters also takes up residence in early summer!) and a small marsh area that attracts a large variety of waterfowl and native bird species. Most impressively - a short walk from the unit delivers the fishing, bathing, and relaxation enjoyed alongside the Sandy River one of Oregon's most historic & pristine waterways renowned for its cleanliness and Steelhead Trout! Rip is a fantastic host and well versed on the fascinating history of the surrounding community. An amazing location & experience!

    Tom2017-03-31T00:00:00Z
  • Rip is a nice host. His apt. is cute and unique., we specially like to visit his pond where the wild birds, ducks are living in. The location of this apt. is easier walking to the funs, shops and restaurant of local town, The outlets are just 3 min. drive by car. It also be close to the falls, Mt. Cook.... but not far to Portland city center . We enjoy our stay at Rip's apt., we like to stay there again if we visit Portland area for holiday next time.

  • Really lovely apartment. Tastefully decorated. Everything you need is there. Great kitchen. Comfy couch with cable. Near a beautiful scenic area. Rip's bronze work is stunning. We felt honored to live with his incredible artwork. The bed was really comfortable. Everything spotless. Just a fantastic experience.

    Leah2015-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • The place was more than we expected. The structure is in a peaceful, contemplative setting, tucked among the woods beside a pond. The apartment itself (one of four) is a work of art, showcasing the sculptures and woodworking of the owner. It is well stocked with kitchen and bath items. The owner was helpful with restaurant recommendations and finding the grocery. This is a perfect spot for anyone wanting to explore the Columbia River Gorge.
