Come to Rog's Retreat on Puget Island to treat yourself to luxury! Or give a night or two as a gift to someone you love. Rog's Retreat guest cottage sits among our flower and vegetable gardens, where deer may appear below your porch.
Come to Rog's Retreat on Puget Island to treat yourself to luxury! Or give a night or two as a gift to someone you love. Rog's Retreat guest cottage sits among our flower and vegetable gardens. The retreat sleeps four (two on the futon in the sitting room). It is equipped with hot plate, under counter refrigerator, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and electric tea kettle. An outdoor barbecue with burner and fire pit enhance the experience! A basket of fruit, snacks, coffee and tea will get your started. Plus we have popcorn to pop and s'more makings at the ready. Rog's Retreat is ideal for a biking, kayaking or fishing trip or use as overflow lodging for your guests. Fish locally for salmon, steelhead and sturgeon (we will provide you with up to the minute fishing reports). Our island and surrounding waterways provide many miles of protected kayak paddling and 30 flat miles for bicycling. For more local kayaking information, go to http://www.columbiariverkayaking.com. While you're here you can stroll around the farm, check out the flower and vegetable gardens, gather the eggs and admire our garden, whatever suits your frame of mind! Roast marshmallows over the campfire, launch your kayak from our property, bird watch from the porch or take a bicycle ride around the island. The possibilities are many and varied! Our guest cottage is a non-smoking building with no TV reception (VCR and DVD provided). Reading and game playing are encouraged. Children are welcome as long as they remain in parental control. They will love to swing on the swing set, play horseshoes, and watch the chickens, ducks, geese and turkeys. They can also help gather eggs with the farmer! Dogs are welcome guests too! If you are spending one night or a week, you are certain to love this cozy home away from home.
Puget Island is a lovely, serene island in the Lower Columbia River, about 50 miles downstream from Portland, OR and about 25 miles upstream from Astoria, OR. Our closest 'big' town is Longview, WA. Cathlamet is a tiny town, located in tiny Wahkiakum County. The town has a really well stocked grocery store. We also have a craft brewery (open on the weekends) and a few very basic restaurants. Our claim to fame is we have no stoplights in our county! There is a bridge from Cathlamet to the island and a small ferry from the island to Oregon.
  • this place is magical!

  • My husband, dog, and I stayed at Rog's retreat for 2 nights. We have traveled all over the US and Canada with Airbnb and found the Stockhouse's Farm to be one of the nicest, cleanest and most hospitable accommodations. The little cabin is perfectly clean, has everything you could ever need (including a selection go VHSs ;), and a plethora of fresh veggies and wild blackberries are right outside your door. There are great hiking and mountain biking trails north and south within 45min. We highly recommend Rog's Retreat, especially if you're looking for a dog friendly place to stay!

  • We had a lovely time. It was just as beautiful as it appeared to be on the website. We loved the many thoughtful amenities! We will keep it in mind for future getaways.

  • What a gem! I am so happy I found this amazing retreat. everything we needed was there the farm house was clean and very comfortable. Rob came and met us at check in and gave us a few suggestions which were all fantastic. The brewery is a can't miss activity in town. the farm staff were all extremely friendly as well. I hope to be back very soon!

  • What an amazing get-away destination! I came to Rog's retreat with my partner on our way passing from Oregon to Washington and it far exceeded our expectations. The farm house is private, beautiful and very clean, and our hosts were welcoming and warm. We felt like we had stumbled onto the best kept secret on airbnb.

1 bedroom guest apartment located on 2 acres adjacent to the Kalama River. Located 40 minutes north of Portland Oregon, and 5 minutes off I-5. This space will sleep up to 6 with 1 queen bedroom, 2 daybeds and a sleeping loft. It has a fully equipped kitchen and 1 full bathroom. There is direct access to the river with a low bank great for fishing. Works for couples, business travelers, and families. Laundry available when booking 4+days. Indoor vehicle/boat parking available with extra charge.
  • Jennifer's place was great! The apartment truly had a fully stocked kitchen. We stopped at a grocery store in the larger town south of I5 and picked up some dinner fixings. The unit had everything we needed including a coffee maker with some coffee for the next morning. Even though there wasn't AC, and the unit was stuffy when we first entered, after opening up all the big windows, the place cooled down quickly. The one disappointment was that access to the river was difficult due to a steep entrance and the fast moving pace of the river due to the time of year. We opted to not try to go in with our dogs. Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to book again. We used it as a 1 night stop along our travels. It was clean and easily accessible.

    Bethany2017-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is a perfect weekend escape destination. Jennifer is a great host with excellent communication. I much enjoyed every aspect of this cozy apartment. The goats will forever be the highlight of my trip.

  • We loved everything about our stay in Jennifers place. There is such a peaceful atmosphere and it was meticulously clean. We were traveling with our kids and they loved the loft and goats! It accommodated our family of 6 very well.

  • This was a great place to stay. Its actually my dream house. The location is very safe and quiet and out of town. The goats are adorable. There was lots of room and lots of different places to sleep even though its a small one bedroom. Its is remodeled and nice. The communication with Jennifer was fast and she is very nice.

We have a studio apartment with a private entrance and off-street parking. The house is across the street from lovely Lake Sacajawea in Longview, Washington, a city built in 1923 as part of the City Beautiful movement. You can take a pleasant walk around the perimeter (3+ miles) or part of the lake. For those in the traveling medical field, we are a short distance from the hospital which is on the opposite side of the lake.
The house was built in 1981 from salvage from the eruption of Mt St Helens. Our family had a cabin on the north fork of the Toutle River which was washed away in the debris flow. My dad was eligible for what was then a low-interest loan (8 1/2%) from the government and built the house next to our own home. My uncle had timbered property that had to be cut because of the inundation of ash and gave Dad permission to take whatever Weyerhaeuser left behind. He knew a guy with a portable sawmill nearby and they milled all the lumber by hand. Then Dad, who was distinctly NOT handy and in his 60s, built the house with the help of a brother-in-law in his late 70s. Incredibly, they pulled it off, and it is now being visited by people from all over the world.
  • This is a lovely and convenient location. It is private, yet very accessible. We stayed here for part of our honeymoon and readied some of the bridal party there for the ceremony. It is right across the street from the park, so we were able to take photos there. The hose, Kathleen, was easy to reach and so considerate.

    Elizabeth2017-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful place for longer stays. It has a complete kitchen setup, a great location next to Lake Sacajawea Park, and ample parking. The hosts are accommodating and friendly.

    Mary2017-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • Great studio for a quick overnight or extended stay! Kathleen is super responsive to any questions or needs. Great location- a walk around Lake Sacajawea is a must if you stay here!

  • Very nice and very clean. Slept very well--comfy bed! Loved the park across the street from your place!

  • Kathleen was a wonderful host. Easy to communicate and very welcoming on the day we arrived. We left Seattle around the rush hour so made it to the destination half an hour later then the latest check-in time, but Kathleen stayed up and waited for us with a warm and welcoming smile. Thanks for the wonderful experience! :-)

    Agatha2017-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Great mattress and very quiet. Good location. Close to Sacajawea Park, a nice place for a morning walk. Kitchen included full-sized ref and stove + toaster, microwave and coffee maker. Bureau for clothes storage, no closet. Nice combination of overhead and task lighting, so had the option for cozy lighting.

    Janis2017-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • Kathleen was there to greet us so it was an easy check-in. Cute private studio loft. Very well furnished with all necessary items for cooking and cleaning, plus more. Wifi works well. Location right across the street from the Sacajawea Lake. Would recommend.

  • Kathleen has a wonderful apartment that is perfect for a long term stay. Check in is very easy. She provided excellent instructions. It can be done without the host present. Kathleen's house is across the street from the nicest city park I have seen. It was perfect for my last pre marathon run, just under four miles without leaving the park. Be sure to ask Kathleen for her fascinating connection to the Mount Saint Helens eruption. I wish I could have stayed longer.

  • Tina and her husband greeted us even though we were later than expected. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Slept well in the queen size bed. We didn't have a chance to talk as we had to leave early in the morning however Tina offered to make us coffee. Tina's home is in a very quiet residential neighbourhood. I would recommend staying at Tina's place.

It's very private in rural Oregon on the Columbia River
There is a distant proximity. There is privacy with neighbors that watch out for each other.
  • While a very short stay, we enjoyed the room. It was comfortable, clean, and quiet. Calvin was friendly and kind.

    Jennifer2017-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Calvin's place makes you want to stay longer and explore, its so interesting! Unfortunately we reached reallly late (2 am-ish) and had to leave early next day. Calvin was very accommodating about our late arrival. He has a store out front which has all sorts of stuff in it. Makes you feel like a small child in a toy shop! Would have loved to explore it. The room itself is pretty big with a bed that sleeps 3 easily and another small one on which a very light weight person can sleep (the heavy ones kinda collapse into it). There is a tiny loft which can sleep a person or two if you are not claustrophobic. The bathroom was very clean and well provisioned. There is a nice espresso machine in case you feel like coffee. Can't say much about the surroundings except that they were really pretty and quiet. Calvin was very prompt in responding to messages. He also suggested that instead of taking the road to Astoria we should take our car on the ferry that crosses Columbia river over to Washington and then take the more scenic route there and cross over the Astor-Megler bridge to Oregon. That was like the best suggestion ever!! We thoroughly enjoyed doing it, thanks Calvin :)

  • I'll be honest, I was sorely tempted not to write a review. I had to wrestle down the selfish impulse to keep Calvin place a secret so that I would be available. But that wouldn't be fair to my hospitable host. All I needed was a safe place to park, a clean place to sleep and a hot shower. I got that and so much more. The pictures don't do it justice. Calvin's place has all the quirky artistic/eclectic charm of a McMenamins but none of the snobbery. A full kitchen (with ice in the freezer), a private bathroom and a private entrance, off-street parking (right out the door), huge TV with satellite (which, for me, meant tons of great music to choose from) books, DVDs, big recliner, a desk and chair, a rocker with a back massage machine, lots of big, fluffy towels and extra blankets...there was even a sauna! I enjoyed meeting Calvin, however briefly. He's an intelligent man with a sparkling sense of whimsy. I didn't have much opportunity to visit with him as he had to be away attending to personal business. But he was readily available via text and had a neighbor on "stand by" in case I needed anything. And Gringa, the cat, made sure I didn't get lonely. (She's quite a storyteller, that one!) It was easily the most restful AirBnB experience I've had to date and I didn't want to leave.

    JoAnn2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed staying with Calvin! He was such a gracious and engaging host, and really made us feel comfortable. We especially enjoyed the sauna, and his store out front. Lots of great finds!

  • Can't say enough good things about this place. Calvin is the ideal host. We've stayed in many Airbnbs and this was by far the best. It was unique, cozy, quaint and so welcoming. Calvin went above and beyond as far as being accommodating. The place is spacious and has everything you need, and for a great value! Thanks for making our last night in Oregon an awesome memory!

    Amanda2017-07-06T00:00:00Z

Longview is located on the Columbia River. Mt St Helens sits in our backyard about one hour drive. You don't have to be a soldier on leave to enjoy a restful retreat at Little Swiss Army House! Enjoy views of the river from the sunken jet bath above the Puget Island Bridge. Take a stroll from the house to Main St. 100% walk score. Main St. area features an espresso cafe, 3 restaurants, organic grocer, local brewery (RM38), scenic marina, historic museum, galleries and beach park. Or take a drive across Puget Island and ride the $5 ferry to OR. Or, do nothing but chillax. That's popular too!
This comfortable large ground floor room features a queen bed and a twin bed. There is a large custom bathroom which features double sinks, full shower and a sunken jetted tub with Columbia River views. A full closet is by the bathroom entry. • Swiss Army House was a perfect place to stay for my daughter and me during our visit to the Great Northwest. Clean, quiet, plenty of room, and very private. All within a short walk of restaurants and shops. Thanks, Debby, for your hospitality! Steve and Andie

  • What a wonderful gem! Debby was a consummate host and the accommodations were superb. Watching a sunset from the tub while the Columbia River rolls on below is a wonderful way to end your day. The town is a slice of Americana and the RM38 nano-brewery is not to be missed. Thanks again, Debby!

  • Debby's place is spacious and absolutely beautiful. The view from the jacuzzi bathtub is insane. I had fun hanging out with Debby as well - she's a fun person to talk to and a very charming host.

    Ryan2016-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • I can't really review much of this rental because - we never made it. This is really more about her than the place. This was my first reservation, it was same day, and this place came up with others in the area I was looking for but is about an hour away from where I wanted to be - a point I missed. When I had to get ahold of Debby and tell her we wouldn't be coming (even though she'd already probably rearranged her day for us) I was worried she would be upset - plenty of people would. My fears were unfounded. Debby was very understanding, had good info about how Airbnb works and even made a recommendation for where we actually wanted to stay, saying "Tell him Debby sent you." That's customer service! If her rental at all reflects her attitude - you can hardly go wrong.

    Robert2017-02-20T00:00:00Z

Road tripping through western Washington or Oregon? We are just a hop & skip off Interstate 5 at exit 30. Join us for a comfy, relaxing reprieve from your travels. You can kick-up your feet inside and enjoy the view, or stretch your legs with a walk around Kalama and our newly renovated riverfront park & marina. Check out the worlds tallest Totem Pole ... carved from a single tree! If you are traveling through the area by train, we'd be happy to pick you up at the train station in Kelso.
The front stairway leads up one flight to where the bedrooms are located to the left, and the kitchen/family room is to the right. There are plenty of books, games, binoculars (river watching) and a large flat-screen TV with blue-ray player and access to an Amazon Fire TV player. There is also a CD player and a large selection of CD's. There is wi-fi available and USB chargers in case you forgot yours.
Kalama was first settled by Native Americans, particularly members of the Cowlitz Indian Tribes. The first white settler recorded was in 1853. In early 1870, Northern Pacific Railway scouts came to Cowlitz County to find an ideal terminus along the Columbia River.
  • Great place! Huge accommodations...bigger than an apartment I use to live in! All inclusive kitchen, living room, full bath and two bedrooms. We really felt like we had our own space yet enjoyed visiting with Karna and Dwayne too. A nice quiet neighborhood yet it's literally 1 minute off of I-5. Portland is close by to the south and Longview minutes to the north. We enjoyed thrift shopping in Longview as well as walking along the Columbia river on the new Kalama waterfront. We'd never spent time in this area before but will definitely return!

    Valerie2017-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Plenty of space in the home, convenient location to the interstate. Hosts were easy to communicate with and made me feel at home. You will hear trains, boats, and cars if you have the windows open; at night with the windows closed it wasn't an issue at all. I definitely recommend staying here.

  • We were the first guests in the place and we loved it. Location is great 5 min. walk to downtown, shops and restaurants. The space is clean, cozy and we had all second floor to ourselves. They are very friendly hosts, we had nice few hours visit with them with shared wine and appetizers. Highly recommended staying here.

  • Best place we've stayed yet! We stayed here on our way up to Mount Saint Helens and couldn't have been happier this choice. Karna & Dwayne went above and beyond to make our stay feel at home. Their house is beautiful and the upstairs apartment was very clean and comfortable. They made sure we had a great stay in Kalama. If you're in the area, I highly recommend staying with them!

  • We were looking for a private, quiet place to stay that offered separate accommodations, with 2 bedrooms and a kitchen, and were pleasantly surprised with the amount of space, and how great the rental was! We had plenty of room, and everything we needed while we were there. Our hosts were absolutely fantastic. We had a quiet, peaceful weekend with a wonderful view. We will be coming back!

2 br, 1.5 bath with beautiful views, comfy beds, large screen TV w/premium channels and free WiFi all nestled w/in the forest alongside Columbia River. Wood floors, high ceilings, gas fireplace, baby grand piano and a telescope overlooking the river. NOTE: No children under 14.
Its a big home, 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath (you could have access to all except one bedroom and bathroom). We've owned the place for about 10 years and completely gutted the house at that time so everything is relatively new inside. Its one story and the best part is the breathtaking view. We could sit out on our deck, or on the couch in front of our fireplace, for hours just taking it all in. There's a long drive way and lots of grassy yard surrounding it so it's very private as well.
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. This is in a beautiful location overlooking the Columbia River. I used this as a base to explore the fishing in some of the nearby rivers. I will stay here again. Thank you Bo!

  • This has been by far my most favorite Airbnb experience!!! The home is beautiful! The 24-7 view from any part of the home or deck is indescribably beautiful. Thank you to Bo and Peggy for being the 'host of hosts. Bo even went Salmon fishing to try to catch our dinner!!! Thank you also for having all of the first day fixings for our first morning's hearty breakfast. You made our visit unforgettable and one that we will be share with all of our friends and family.

  • We had a wonderful time at Bo's place! The pictures well reflect the beautiful home we stayed in for 2 nights. We were treated to freshly caught salmon and full breakfast ingredients (including eggs and bacon), and enjoyed the views from the deck and from inside the home since the weather didn't entirely live up to our expectations... But the ample indoors space more than made up for the cooler evenings and mornings. The location was ideal for our exploration of both the coast (Long Beach) and Mt St Helens.

  • Nice place and beautiful view of the Columbia.

    Cody2017-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • We were in the area because of family and enjoyed coming back each evening because the view was beautiful. It was so very relaxing to just watch the river and the ships/boats. Fortunately the weather was warm and beautiful during our stay and so we got to thoroughly enjoy the deck. We appreciated having the use of the kitchen. Easily one of our favorite airb&b experiences and we would have no problem returning in the future!

    Brenda2016-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Bo & Peggy's. The views were to die for and sitting outside on the deck was so relaxing. We were welcomed with a bottle of champagne and some OJ for mimosas and enjoyed our short visit with Bo before they disappeared to let us enjoy the property. They gave us great suggestions for dinner options and had a log ready to go in the fire pit. Waking up in the master bedroom with that view of the Columbia was marvelous. We hope to visit again someday!

  • Yesterday, we booked a last minute trip from Portland to Longview to unwind and spend a beautiful evening and morning soaking in a magnificent view of the Columbia River, watching wildlife, including two hawks, a hare, and what looked like robins eating breakfast on the lawn. The "Columbia River View Paradise" offered windows soaring to the sky, and a feast for the eyes from nearly every room. The baby grand piano provided entertainment as we played duets and laughed. Thank you Peg & Bo for sharing your home!

My apartment is ideal for couples with two children and business travelers who want separate rooms. It has a fully equipped utility kitchen, two bedrooms and a bathroom with a vanity. It has a sitting/dining area, and a laundry/storage room. The apartment has its own entrance, parking spaces and overlooks secluded woods at the back. The house is close to town, shops, amenities and five minutes from I5. Guests from all backgrounds are very welcome. The apartment is ideal for long-term stays.
Guests are entirely independent and private in the space but can socialize as much as they wish. The kitchen is ideal for most things but for more elaborate cooking there is a much larger kitchen on the main floor of the house. The downstairs has it's own private entrance or can be accessed through the house if necessary. The neighborhood is very quiet, and safety is not an issue here, the location couldn't be any more convenient for shops and amenities.
Park Hill Drive is an established neighborhood and adjoins several loops of houses making it perfect for early morning strolls and dog walks. There is very little traffic because of only one access making it safe, quiet and secluded. The neighbors vary from young families to single occupancy and retirees. Most neighbors, including myself, have lived in this neighborhood for many years.
  • Ann's apartment is absolutely perfect. My daughter and I stayed 11 nights, and this was our last vacation before she goes off to college next year. Longview was a prime location for us. We visited a college, spent a couple of days in Portland, another two in Seattle, and one very delightful day at Cannon Beach. We could have done so much more in the area had we made the choice for a different pace. Instead, my daughter and I enjoyed staying "home" in Ann's apartment for a couple of days. We had brought a puzzle to work on along with several books, and we were able to settle in so completely. The apartment is advertised as cozy, yet my first impression upon seeing it firsthand was that of permeating sunlight and a lovely view of endless shades of green. Upon leaving however, cozy is the first word to come to mind. I've concluded that the good beds, the quality bedding, the green surroundings of nature, and the quietness of the neighborhood all contributed to a desire to simply snuggle up in bed or sit on the deck in the morning with a cup of tea. Ann allowed my daughter and me to determine our level of interaction with her. While my daughter stayed in the apartment one evening, I enjoyed a dinner with Ann that was absolutely delicious. On our last day with Ann I was not looking forward to the long flight back to South Carolina. One final time, Ann demonstrated an excellence in hospitality. Not only did we share some tea together, but she also served me a bowl full of comfort food. That my daughter and I were able to stay in Ann's apartment in Longview is something for which I am extremely grateful. As a single mother, my daughter and I have taken but a few big vacations. This trip was a splurge, counted among others in single digits. I could not have hoped for more. I simply cannot believe that, had we stayed anywhere else, my daughter and I would have had a more contented experience. We were so comfortable with each other there for a multitude of reasons. Ann offered easy interaction, and the true coziness of the apartment set for my daughter and me a pleasant mood, an unhurried pace, quality sleep, sunlight, and a desire to delay our return home. Thank you, Ann, for offering such a wonderful home away from home.

  • Ann's home is a beautiful house in the woodsier area of Longview! Up on the hill close to town, you can expect a very peaceful stay and even see some deer in the morning!! She has great recommendations for the town, and has everything you need in the apartment! She is very effective in communicating and I loved having her as my host!

  • Ann is a wonderfully interesting lady! Lots of laughs, a great host, a beautiful home in a spectacular neighborhood. A great long term place to stay or an awesome short time get away. The price is far below the value of the place you get. Its a 5 star place for a 2 star price!

She was very communicative, and although she wasn't close by the whole time she made sure she had a neighbor nearby to answer any questions we might have and come take care of the hot tub from time to time. Would definitely recommend, and will stay again if we are ever in the area.

  • Could not have been more fantastic. Adam and Yvonne were so kind to us and made us feel very much at home. We stayed here to see Mt St Helens the following day. Adam provided some good recommendations on where to go and what to look at. The space is very serene and relaxing and the property is so peaceful and picturesque. The landscaping and gardens are like something out of a magazine. I would definitely recommend staying here to anyone and we hope to return ourselves very soon.

  • It was a joy staying at Kathleen's bed and breakfast. The location is so beautiful and peaceful, with mists rising off of the river behind the house. The room was beautifully decorated, and the cookies waiting for us when we arrived were a treat. Breakfast was scrumptious--wonderful fruit, rosemary cream cheese omelette and sausage, with delicious potatoes and toast. We had originally planned on staying along the coast and we were thrilled to find such a lovely haven, well worth the short trip from the coast!

  • We stayed here one night and just loved it! Every detail and need is catered for in this beautiful B and B. The house has so much personality and far superior to those soulless hotels which cost more! The house backs up to a lazy river with a porch to watch the humming birds compete for the feeder. Breakfast huge, fresh and sets you up for the day. The owner, Kathleen, could not do enough.

  • We had a lovely time! It was a beautiful, quiet location, and breakfast was delicious. Even the drive was enjoyable. I highly recommend this place!

  • When I walked up to Twin Gables, I was so excited to be staying there. From the outside of the house it is charming and inviting. Steven greeted me and carried my suitcase up to the room. He showed me where to find coffee in the morning and being so hot outside, he showed me the ice cream bars in the freezer. Yes, I ate 2! The room was cozy and the bed was very comfortable. Kathleen tailored my breakfast around my gluten free diet. Both breakfasts' presentation were lovely and very good! She takes great care in creating that meal. One of the reasons why I chose this B & B was because it is on water. I was able to swim off the dock and borrow a boat to row. In the evening a family of river otters appeared on the other side of the river. The following day, I went for a long walk in the nature preserve in town, checked out the covered bridge that was not that far from town, drove past the Astoria bridge to watch a couple of whales spouting in the distance. it is really beautiful in that area of Washinton. I can't wait to go back and explore more!

  • Our stay at Kathleens was very enjoyable. We enjoyed watching the birds from the porch and the banks of the waterway. We saw ospreys, herons, and kingfishers. The room is beautiful and the breakfast could not be better. Delicious! Thanks, Kathleen, we would love to return. Ron

  • My mom and I were on a road trip and wanted to stay a couple of days in a nice peaceful place. We found the perfect spot! Twin Gables is a beautiful house and we were able to fully relax. Our stay was amazing. Kathleen is a wonderful hostess and makes a delicious breakfast. The house is clean, bright, and offers lounging areas inside and outside on the decks of the front and back patios. We enjoyed sitting on the back patio that faces the river bird watching for hours. Just across the street from the house there is a park with a sandy "beach" area for swimming. I hope to be back soon to Twin Gables Inn in the near future, and I highly recommend it to anyone.

  • I hesitate to rave about this place because I don't want to find it booked up and unavailable but I have to be fair. Kathleen is an excellent host. The breakfast was yummy with fresh fruit, nice coffee, orange juice, great eggs and sausage and toast. But the real treat was the wonderful sleep I had in her bed. It was so quiet and peaceful there, truly a place to rest and rejuvenate.

A great getaway! Cute, cozy, rustic remote farmhouse with at home amenities overlooking Columbia River. Wonderful patio with great views of river and Mt. St. Helens. Away from the crowds but close enough for some fun too. Family-friendly (maybe not young kids), pet friendly and just a great place to relax and get away. Great for couples, solo getaways, or a group of great friends. Close to fishing with the Columbia only a few miles away. And a great artist/author retreat as well!
Super quiet - no cars, planes, fire engines House is cozy and comfortable All the at home perks, fully equipped kitchen, claw foot tub, wood burning stove, outdoor firepit, enclosed porch. Great common and private spaces Beautiful sun and moon rises Great view of the Columbia Close to Portland, but far enough away Ocean beaches are about an hour away Astoria is about 60 miles with amazing fishing Columbia River is a few miles down the road with awesome fishing
It's a county road off the main highway. A few working farms but mostly residential. Very quiet - so loud parties are not allowed please. It is definitely a social place though, we just would prefer to raging parties.
  • Liz's farm retreat was the perfect getaway! The pictures don't do it justice. The home is very cozy and welcoming, with a woodstove in the living room and lovely enclosed porch area, as well as multiple outdoor spaces for hanging out and enjoying the views. The queen beds on the main floor and upstairs were comfy, and there was plenty of space for the 3 of us to lounge. The spiral staircase could be tricky for folks with limited mobility or small children. Cell service with Verizon was reliable and the internet was fast. This home is very private, with no neighbors in sight. Liz was extremely helpful and made the check-in process seamless. We definitely want to return someday.

  • Very nice old farm house with a good view of the Columbia River and Mt Hood in the distance. The house was very clean but definitely not fancy. It was a quiet and comfortable stay. It lacked some amenities like a DVD (apparently stolen by a past renter) and a walk in shower, although a creative retrofit is found in the basement. The house was well-stocked and the bed was comfy. My wife and I liked the place but felt that the price was a bit much for what was offered. Our total cost/night was $190. Ouch.

    David2017-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • I took a short 'ME' get-away to this lovely farmhouse and had the most amazing time. It is quiet, secluded and relaxing, which was the goal for my trip. I wasn't aware of how beautiful and expansive the view would be; I was in complete awe! The sunrise offered up some amazing photos. I sat out by the fire-pit with my morning coffee and soaked up every bit of peace and tranquility of the hilltop view. The interior of the home was cozy, eclectic and very inviting. The caretaker had even built a nice fire in the wood stove upon my arrival. Since it was just me staying in the home, I can only vouch for the comfort of the bed on the main level of the home. It was probably the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. There are plenty of linens, pillows and every kitchen gadget you could need to feel right at home. The owner's have done an amazing job at making their guests feel welcome. I love this place. It's absolutely beautiful. I can't wait to go back!

  • This is a very nice place. quiet and rustic but very comfortable. great view of the Columbia River and Mt. Hood too.

  • This property was an unexpected treasure! The farm was in an idyllic setting with a beautiful view of Mount Hood and the Columbia River. Since our destination was Mount St. Helen, the location was perfect. The kitchen was well stocked and there was plenty of comfortable sleeping space for our extended family and the family dog was welcome. What delighted us the most was that there was a special spirit there as the property had been in the family for generations and was obviously a popular gathering place and retreat for family and friends. The serene view, the old stone patio and stove, the over sized fire pit, the row of towering firs, three old barns and the bright yellow umbrella which shaded the large table outside is where our family gathered for all the meals to enjoy the setting in superb summer weather. The "walls could talk" as there was original art, newspaper clippings and other interesting artifacts created and collected by family members some of whom we recognized as prominent artists and architects. In a seasoned rustic setting with obviously wonderful family history, there were elements of today's world tastefully and artistically combined to not only create visual interest and an overwhelming feeling of "home sweet home" It was our family's home for five days and four nights and it was wonderful! We hope to return and to enjoy another season there. Roxy and Bob Seligman, Anacortes WA

  • Rek Ranch was a quick and easy drive from Portland - it was a perfect setting with a beautiful view of Mount Hood and the Columbia River—an even better one if you climb through the plowed grasses to see up the hill. My daughter and I love cooking together and the kitchen was ideal for this. My daughter’s Yorkie (with short legs) and I (70 with 2 hip replacements) found the dark spiral staircases tricky, so we all camped out on the main floor rather than using all 3 floors. It was great sitting out on the stone patio at any time of day to eat, read, meditate or breathe in the aroma of the apple trees. And for hikers, the Crown Zellerbach River trails is flat and beautiful! Beaver Falls is astounding though a bit difficult downhill. Liz was a terrific communicator by email and phone, and we always got our questions answered quickly.

But the local Safeway grocery is only 10 minutes in Clatskanie and open until 11:00PM. The fourth bed is a queen pull out in the den room. The deck is great for: entertaining with a gas barbecue, toasting the sunsets, or watching the waterfowl and eagles. Life jackets and a few fishing poles are available. This is a rare rural-farm neighborhood area on the lower Columbia where the homes are total river front without crossing a road to get to the river. Your dock starts 30 feet from the house front door. Paved roads are available for country biking (but no bike lanes), and you can hiking within our 100 acres of foothill timberland providing outstanding views.

  • James was an amazing host who was quick with responses to any questions I had. The house was better than in the pictures and the pair of eagles right out front were beautiful.

  • Just wow! Saving this place for all future visits to the area. Beautiful home with beautiful views. It was so hard to pull myself off of that dock!

  • This is an amazing place! We loved the access to the river, the big yard, large comfortable bedrooms, and beautiful artwork throughout the home. James was very attentive, and gave us some good tips about the river and its many moods. I brought my paddleboard and my son and his friend fished off the dock (they didn't catch anything, but they had a great time trying!) There is the town center about 15 minutes away to get groceries. We didn't eat out, because we were so happy just hanging out at the house, so we grilled a lot and ate in. We had everything we needed, and we'll definitely come back, but will plan to stay a little longer.

  • Great property, on the water, nice house; we always rate a place based on could we live here, this one passed that test easily. The description was accurate, the property was clean, and the there were many little extras. If you want quiet and a river this is the place.

  • This house is beautiful, secluded and comfortable. We had room to have family over and enough to space so we weren't tripping over each other. There was plenty of wildlife in the area to keep us all intertained. We loved our stay here.

  • Jim was great with communicating prior to arrival and once we arrived there the property was exactly as described and a view of Mt St Helens from the back deck. It was wonderful being right on the river and having a great boat dock. This property is probably one of my best Airbnb experiences. I was happy I could meet Jim prior to departure! Also some very nice artwork of the Columbia River from days past on the walls. Thanks for your hospitality Jim!

The Inn At Crippen Creek Farm offers a respite from the hectic rhythm of everyday life. Stroll our 15 acres, rest by the creek, enjoy the beauty of our farm, the garden, the orchard and the livestock. Your stay includes a full country breakfast. We also offer optional gourmet dinners and cooking classes. On weekends you can enjoy live music and craft beers in nearby Cathlamet at River Mile 38 Brewery.
The Inn At Crippen Creek Farm is a 15 acre organic farm nestled in a quiet, remote valley in the Willapa Hills. Our guests love the gourmet food, they are charmed by the animals but I think it is the quietness that speaks loudest to them. In a world that is increasingly addicted to noise and speed, silence becomes golden.
We love the quiet and lack of traffic. No sirens, no booming stereos. We can count on one hand the number of vehicles that we see while on a walk or bike ride. A morning walk is a real treat.
  • It was an amazing experience staying at Kitty&Don's farm! From the peaceful environment to the comfortable&clean room and the incredible delicious food Don made! There was another guest with her kids staying there the same time while we stayed , they even called ahead and reserved farm-experience for the kids(we got to watch the kids feed the pigs and picked up eggs. That was sooo cute), so it's also great for families. We payed extra for eating dinner there as well, totally worth it and definitely a better option than driving out 20mins to the tiny "downtown" of Skamokawa for some grocery shop food. Also Kitty and Don are really nice people to talk with, they really give you the feeling that you are just staying at a fd's house. We are definitely going back to stay next time~!

  • A top notch place for good company, wonderful food, extraordinary conversation, and respite from a busy life. Getting to know their farm animals was also great fun. They took us in on short notice and didn't miss a beat. They are the best.

  • Crippen Creek farm is unequivocally stellar! Exceptional in every way. Greeted at the door, help carrying our bags, warm tea, key lime bars, a flawlessly clean room, great breakfast and great conversation! My bride and I were heading out to the coast and stopped here on the way - we will definitely do so again! A perfect 10 as far as a bed and breakfast goes! Thanks so much for a great time Don and Kitty!

  • What a beautiful home and amazing guests! I would highly recommend this place to anyone. All be it a bit in the middle of no where, an amazing place to "getaway" and be with the stars, farm animals and truly wonderful hosts. We felt so welcomed at Crippen Creek and the Food was AMAZING!!! they were so considerate about our health concerns and accommodated us... we never felt like an inconvenience.

    Tricia2015-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • We stupidly booked the wrong date so weren't able to join Kitty and Don as we'd hoped, but though we probably put them to much trouble and inconvenience, they couldn't have been more understanding and sympathetic. We've subsequently rebooked and are excited about finally getting to stay with them!

    Ian2015-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Crippen Creek Farm. Don and Kitty were so kind and welcoming, and we enjoyed having long conversations with them over a cup of tea or coffee. The breakfast was delicious and everything was super clean. We would definitely visit them again when we are around.

  • Kitty and Don were amazing. There was some confusion with the Air BnB and I thought I told them my children would Be joining, but they were unaware. Anyways, they were still welcoming and showed us around their beautiful farm. They letthe kids feed the chickens and pigs. They were sooo warm and welcoming, nothing like a hug to say hello and goodbye.

No pets please. Stairs take you to a lovely 650 sq ft apartment in a rural setting. A private balcony overlooks the valley. Full kitchen or share our BBQ. Full bath with tub/shower, TV/DVD, queen bed. Very quiet and peaceful, a creek runs through the pasture.
We are 5 miles up the road from the mighty Columbia River. The apartment is self contained and next to our home. It is fully furnished and very clean and comfortable. The year round creek provides a soothing counterpoint to the quiet. Wildlife is often spotted in our pasture.
We are an hour west of Interstate 5, and an hour east of Astoria and Long Beach (Hy 101) in the verdant Willipa Hills . This is a small, rural county, very much unchanged by a hurried world. There is a kayak center in Skamokawa, Columbia River Kayaking, that offers wonderful guided tours and kayak rentals. Salmon, sturgeon and steelhead are as close as the river.
  • What a lovely experience! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in The Crow's Nest. It could not have been more relaxing. A beautifully-appointed haven with a great mattress! Thanks for sharing your awesome spot.

    Allison2015-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Loved every minute of my stay at the Crow's Nest. Theresa and Ed are kind, generous and welcoming hosts. I felt at home immediately. The house is as adorable (& clean!) as the pictures describe and the setting is beautiful and serene. It was exactly what I hoped for when I booked a quiet place in the country. I will be back again, for sure!

  • My boyfriend and I had an amazing time staying at the Crow's Nest! Their home provided for everything we could need! We had a very nice and peaceful stay! I'm still dreaming about that Greek yogurt they graciously provided! We'll be back!

Within two miles of the Cathlamet city center, with the Tsuga Gallery and River Mile 38 Brewery (live music every Sat. 5-8 pm). The Puget Island Farmers Market every Friday from 3-6 pm, with live music. Some public beaches on the island and nearby is the JBH White-tailed Deer Refuge. The house is right on the water. Several nearby launches that we own for paddling. Perfect for individuals, families with well-behaved kids (remember we're right next to a tidal-influenced body of water), and pets.
This beautiful waterfront retreat is the perfect place for a weekend getaway. This two-story charming home offers great views of the water on the wrap-around porch and quiet pastoral views out front. Songbirds are around year-round feeding on the berries and nesting in trees on the property. We operate a creamery about a quarter mile from the house and stock the fridge with fresh butter, cream, and milk as well as fresh-baked breakfast goods for your breakfast.
  • Wonderful! We loved our time at Melissa and Dick's- the house is beautiful and we saw river otters as we made dinner. They stocked the fridge with goodies and even vegan options after asking us our dietary restrictions. The deck is gorgeous and the area is lovely. Could not recommend more. Thank you Melissa and Dick!

  • Our family had a wonderful stay. The porch is a lovely spot to hang out and the kitchen is well stocked and easy to cook in. The cream, milk, and eggs from the farm next door were a lovely treat!

  • We had a wonderful time at this beautiful little house! Melissa was so helpful with my many questions prior to booking. The house was exactly what it seemed to be and worked perfectly for our night away from Portland for my husband's birthday. Our boys loved watching all of the birds and the tide change right off the deck. This was our first time on Puget Island and we will absolutely be back again some day. It's an amazing little place. Our only regret is that we didn't have longer to stay!

    Tabitha2016-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a relaxing time at Melissa's beautiful water side retreat! The home was beautifully decorated and well appointed with all the amenities. The area was so quiet with local wildlife, waterfowl, deer right out our door! The fresh eggs, milk, cream and butter from the local dairy were an added treat! Melissa responded quickly to our questions and no real issues arose during our stay. The house is a great home base for exploring the lower Columbia River area.

    Steve2016-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Wow. This place is spectacular. We had a great swim at the beach down the road and loved our peaceful stay. This is a great spot for a small get together of friends who want to enjoy the beauty of the outdoors and spend time together. I loved this sweet house.

    Jessica2016-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • This place is too cute and just right to pass up! We loved the area too! We brought our boat, the kids and the dog. All had a great time! Yes, even the boat had fun! Easy access to the Columbia River, house is well appointed with necessary items and very clean. We enjoyed the back porch, berries in the yard, local birds and such. It's on the street, but there are virtually no cars going by. The cottage has a great layout. We were happy!

    Renee2017-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • So pretty to stay right on the slough. For being so rural, it was a surprisingly good hub-and-spoke center for getting from Seattle to Astoria, Portland, Oregon beaches, etc. Fully stocked kitchen with the creamery's milk and butter in the fridge.

  • We wanted a nice quiet scenic get away and found it! The river that flows behind the b&b is beautiful, we watched the otters play, and birds, just a lovely porch to have a cup of coffee and relax. We drove down many Country lanes and saw many historical sites. People there were the kindness and friendliness I've come across in a long time, definitely would go again.

  • Loved this little retreat! The hosts were wonderful and very accommodating. Cookies awaited me in my room upon arrival and the breakfast is absolutely amazing. I'm not sure I've eaten that much in a long time...but I didn't want to stop because it was delicious! The house was very quiet and I enjoyed sitting on the back porch, sipping tea and listening to the rain fall. Great little escape that was just far enough away from home (Portland).

  • Twin Gables was everything we'd hoped for a quiet weekend away. Everything was thoughtfully prepared, very clean and welcoming. Kathleen even had some fresh shortbread cooling and waiting for us. The house is so charming with lots of antiques and a wonderful outside porch overlooking the river to enjoy the winter wildlife. Breakfast was delicious and perfectly portioned in a charming dining room overlooking the water - soft music, low lighting - the best way to start a day. And a sweet, well-behaved inn cat, Carlton, only added to the charm.

  • Heike is great. She's from Pittsburgh and is a teacher for special needs kids. She also has two dogs, two cats, and three chickens! And her daughter goes horseback riding. She has so much love for everyone and everything and it's obvious from the moment you meet her. Just a friendly accompanying caution to future Airbnb guests: to properly care for pets, you have to let them be themselves, and so her dogs are going to do dog things like run up to the window and bark when you first arrive, etc. That's actually a good thing, it means Heike is a good master of the house. One of Heike's dogs is a rescue, so she still doesn't trust people very much and might bark at you quite a bit and maybe even growl. But she's not aggressive, she's just unsure of strangers because she might have been abused once. Treat her animals with respect and be just calm and assertive around them, and they'll respect you. Remember you're a guest, and Heike and her beautiful dogs and cats were there first! Oh, and unbelievably, Heike installed an air conditioner in the room right on the day before we arrived. AND she kindly made some amazing ginger iced tea for us. This was truly a great experience and you have to visit.

    Richard2016-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Heike's place was as she described and that's why we chose her home. If you are an "animal "person, you'll love it, if not best to move on. You have to love someone that even names their chickens. It has the country feel but close enough to explore southern Wash or northern Oregon. We shared breakfast in the morning including eggs from "Heike's Happy Hens". She made us feel as if we were staying with relatives (but not the annoying kind). The bed was comfy and she had a room A/C in the room but the evenings were cool and it was not needed.

    Dan2017-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • Heike is a super host! I was on a work trip and she made sure the coffee was ready for me each morning at 5. The pets are so friendly! The kitties were a delight and the dogs friendly. The pets and Heike made me feel so welcomed.

    Geene2017-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Heike is a delightful hostess. My husband and I enjoyed our conversations with her. What a treat to get breakfast with freshly laid eggs!

    Cindy2017-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Heike's place was wonderful. I'd never been to Kelso before, and the house is on a little street and just beyond her back yard is a river. The room was clean and quiet, and even though the summer has been hot we didn't need to use the AC in the room. We had a nice time chatting in the morning, and she made some really good coffee. She's got two dogs and cats who were great, and they just liked playing in the back yard. I would recommend her place if you are looking to stay in this area.

  • From the moment Kitty opened the door, I felt at home. She was warm and genuine and welcoming, and it wasn't long before she, Don, my boyfriend Drew and I were enjoying the relaxed, easy conversation of old friends. The food Don made both for dinner and breakfast was some of the best we had in our ten days out West, and that's saying something given the foodie towns of Portland and Seattle we stayed in along the way. The room was clean, comfortable, and inviting, with attention paid to details spanning from offering shampoo and conditioner to beautiful flowers to bedside truffles. Add that to the idyllic setting and it simply doesn't get better than this.

    Courtney2015-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • From the minute we got there to the minute we left, Kitty and Don were wonderful people and so was our trip. Even though we spent most of our time traveling to other cities like Long Beach and seaside, every minute we were at the Crippen Creek, it was wonderful & relaxing ! They made us feel at home and the breakfast was Amazing ! We will definitely be going back to stay there next time we travel to that area :) thank you Kitty and Don !

  • We enjoyed the lovely drive along the Columbia River to this remote, beautiful, and peaceful setting. Don & Kitty were more like friends than hosts, and were easy to visit with and have stimulating conversation with for extended sessions. I would have preferred to stay a second night. We hope to go back and cooperate on a big Indian dinner. This is a memorable BnB destination. Highly recommended.

  • Kitty and Don were wonderful friendly hosts. As soon as we arrived, they welcomed us into their beautiful home. We enjoyed our conversation on their cozy couches and felt very comfortable in their clean home. Living in a city, it was a nice escape into the country. They gave us a tour of their property and let us feed their adorable pigs. It's amazing that they are able to live off their land. We had a true farm to fork brunch that was delicious on their fabulous sun porch. We had plans to go the beach so they provided a great recommendation for dinner at the beach, but next time I look forward to trying their dinners or one of their cooking classes. Also, the bed was so comfortable…my husband and I got the best sleep. They live on 15 acres so it's very quiet. Their description of the place was spot on, but it was even better then our expectations. As mentioned, we will be coming back and look forward to sharing the word with our friends and family.

    Affinity2015-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • Staying with Kitty and Don was such a treat. The food was incredible and the conversation was warm and engaging. The house is lovely and the room has three large windows that look out on to the lawn and lush trees by the creek. A wonderful place to wake up. My partner and I loved meeting the other guests over meals and enjoying tea on the front porch, and walking around on the old logging roads by the property. This is the perfect place to stay for a weekend getaway - it's far enough away from the city to be quiet, peaceful and calm, but not too far of a drive from Portland. We loved exploring the town and took a lovely scenic drive to the coast, which is close. Kitty and Don are gracious hosts -- they accommodated my dietary needs, gave us great suggestions for stuff to do nearby, and are generally great people. I really recommend having them make dinner for you when you go visit! It's worth it. I can't recommend their place enough, we are already planning to go back.

This secluded condo is the top floor of my house, ideal for couples with small children and/or pets, business travelers and vacationers. Location is within minutes of shops, amenities and hospital and ideal for long-term stays for contract workers. Access to Park Hill Drive is a cul-de-sac. The master bedroom is spacious, tastefully decorated and very comfortable. The loft has a comfortable bed for an additional guest. There is a large kitchen dining area, sitting room with office workspace.
The bedroom has it's own private bathroom and sitting area for morning coffee and a glass of wine in the evening. There is a TV screen and WiFi access. There is a couch which can easily accommodate a small child but guests with babies and/or toddlers will need to provide their own crib and there is plenty of room. Pets are welcome but guests must provide a bed. The garden is not fenced so pets must be on a leash at all times at the front of the house but the back deck works well as a safe place for a dog to be outside. Guests are requested not to leave their pet alone in the house when they are out.
  • Very nice place to stay. The veiw of the night sky through sun room is amazing!!

  • Anna's place felt like a combination of a Swiss chalet, an Antique/Curio shop and a green house. It had many large of windows and a large balcony looking which looked out through moss covered trees down into the valley below. It was spacious, clean, and charming with all her antiques and art. She has a huge master bedroom with a full bath and a single bed in the loft with a full bath in the down stairs hall for that person. There also plenty of room for other people in the great room / sun room over looking the valley. Plus there is another whole large apartment downstairs. The kitchen was large and functional and she left us with everything we needed to make ourselves at home. Anne herself was always so charming when we'd speak on the phone. She is truly a well educated and well traveled citizen of the world.

    Eric2016-12-13T00:00:00Z
  • We wish Ann well on her path. We are grateful. Highly encouraged us to continue using Air bnb.

  • Ann was great! This is a very nice neighborhood on a hill overlooking town, and it's a nice room with a comfortable bed. She is very friendly and showed me around town (we had a bit of an adventure trying to find an open restaurant one evening!). Overall I was very pleased with the house and the host, and if I ever go back out to Longview I hope I can stay here again.

    Randall2016-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Ann was nothing short of amazing! The room was very clean, private, and well kept. I loved how much sunlight the room received. She has a fantastic bathtub, great for relaxing after a long day at work. Ann was very helpful, thoughtful, attentive, and kind. I was there for 8 weeks and she showed me around town, offered ideas for places to visit, and was always so accommodating. If I'm ever in Longview again, there is no other place I would stay.

    Charity2017-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • Ann was such a pleasure as a host and to spend time with. We went on many adventures together during my month stay which definitely made my trip more memorable.

It's quiet, safe, and we love watching boats go by and hearing crickets chirping at night. The small town feel is all around the neighborhood. Longview/Kelso and Astoria, OR are just 25 minutes away. Grocery store, brewery, library and restaurants are just 10 minutes away. We are just 90 minutes from Portland.
  • Philip and Robin are an amazing young couple. They are very engaging and easy to talk to. Very concerned about your needs, always willing to help if you need it. We loved the house, it is very clean, you can tell they take pride in their business! They made us feel like we were a part of their family.

  • Clean and cozy with great views of the river. Friendly hosts. We had a pleasant stay.

  • We had a wonderfully relaxing time at your place. We enjoyed the option of using their kayaks, relaxing on the shore, on the deck, or inside. We took advantage of the games offered out and inside, as well as the dvd movies. It was great to bbq and later sit near their fire pit and make smores. The cookies and breakfasts were delicious. Thank you for opening up your home and making us feel comfortable and welcome.

  • Had a wonderful stay here with my husband and our two kids. Philip and Robin were gracious hosts, very accommodating, friendly and helpful. The house is comfy, quiet and clean with a fantastic view. And the island/town of Cathlamet is charming. Highly recommended.

Philip & Robin were great to stay with & we enojyed all they had to share.

Our vacation rental apartment is next door to, but separate from our two bedroom Twin Gables Inn on Skamokawa Creek. Ideal for two, but can sleep four. The apartment does not front on the creek, but it is just 30 feet from the back door to the water's edge. Dog-friendly Skamokawa Vista Park, a wildlife refuge and our Fairgrounds are just a few minutes walk away. Astoria and Long Beach are an hour's drive.
One bedroom apartment with kitchenette. Can sleep two couples. Queen bed in bedroom. Queen sleeper in living room. Small bath with stand up shower. All linens and towels provided. Kitchenette has stove/oven, small refrigerator, toaster, coffee maker and microwave. Pots, pans and utensils provided. Fresh-ground coffee. Boat dock for up to 25'. On Skamokawa Creek, just off the lower Columbia River. Not suitable for sailboats due to low bridge. For canoes and kayaks, a small boat launch is just down the creek from us We are a short walk from a general store, the Redmen Hall Friends of Skamokawa Museum and bookshop, a wildlife refuge with several miles of flat, lightly used road for cycling, Skamokawa Vista Park, where you can walk one of the few beaches along the Columbia River. Breakfast, or our 'Simple Suppers' are available in next-door B&B for $15/pp for those who want a break from cooking. The apartment includes free wifi (CenturyLink 'up to' 10 mbps) and an internet ready TV with a Netflix subscription. A (mostly) outdoors cat does reside on the property but is not allowed in the guest rooms or in the apartment. Note on location. A major search engine maps us a few miles away from where we actually are. We are in central Skamokawa, a 5 minute walk from the general store and paddle center, and across the highway from Skamokawa Vista Park. We are located on the waterside of Skamokawa Creek, which empties into the Columbia River just downstream.
We are in the Skamokawa National Historic District. Houses here face Skamokawa Creek. The creek was once the town's 'Main Street', as much travel was done via water. There was no through-road to Skamokawa until the 1930s. The human population is small, outnumbered by a variety of wildlife. You may see deer in the yard, Eagles, Osprey and Red-Tailed Hawks are common sights, as are Herons and many migrating water-fowl. You may hear coyotes yipping in the evening. Beaver, Otter and Nutria are often seen in the local sloughs.
  • Kathleen's place was clean and welcoming, and the area was nothing less than charming. Would certainly recommend this place to other travellers - particularly because Kathleen's communication was second to none.

  • Kathleen and her husband took excellent care of us! Kathleen's husband saw us pull in, and checked us in by the time we walked in the front door. The space is nice and tastefully decorated. Adjacent to, but separate from the B&B next door. Kitchen had everything we needed to make a good meal...complete with delicious, fresh-ground coffee for the morning. Kathleen texted the day before to let us know about some local events we might be interested in checking out. Quiet and peaceful spot, just what we were looking for. Beautiful scenery. Thanks for the great stay!

    Elise2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Such a charming, welcoming, and peaceful place to stay. The apartment was clean and well kept. My friends and I got the best nights sleep on the bed and pull out sofa. Kathleen was so welcoming and attentive. She even delivered cards for us to play. I would recommend this to anyone who likes a cozy apartment small town feel. I hope to visit again soon!

  • The cabin and Inn are both charming to say the least. The antiques and collections add so much character to the house. The cabin was also very clean and Kathleen had such special touches like fresh cookies and coffee in the cabin. For sleeping, there was a large bed and a pull out couch. The large bed was very comfortable but *warning* if you are a foursome, the pull out couch is extremely uncomfortable. I have slept on many pull out couches and I wasn't expecting anything spectacular but this was exceptionally bad. It feels like you are sleeping on hard metal bars with only a blanket covering under you. We were unable to get any sleep unfortunately and I would have been better off sleeping on the floor. We experienced a few more minor problems with the internet. The connection was very very poor and the kept dropping every minute. We were also excited to watch a Netflix movie before bed but were unable to because of the buffering. Finally, in the morning, we had trouble getting the coffee pot to work but that may have been just us. Also, the fire alarm kept setting off from the steam of the shower but Kathleen quickly came in to fix the problem. Long story short, if you are a couple who does not need internet, you will love this place. I think that due to the sleeping arrangements it is not fit for four people. The grounds are truly beautiful though and Kathleen is a good host.

  • The apartment at this B&B is a fine place if you need to stay in Skamokawa. It's a quiet, riparian outpost. As the host stated upon our arrival, people come here for solitude. No river view from apt. Host was kind and even brought coffee.

    Melissa2014-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • I had a great few days at the Skamokawa Apt. The apartment was clean and the host very welcoming. I brought my boat to fish the Columbia River and it was nice to have a dock on the property to provide moorage. It got a bit hot a couple of days, but I was able to manage it. It cooled off at night. I'd stay again, especially if the fishing picks up.

    Jim2016-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy little spot! Had a great stay, and our host even put together breakfast before we left for our early-morning fishing trip. Would definitely stay again!

This is sleeping loft which is comparable to a glorified camping experience. There is no electricity in the sleeping house but there is next door. Basic cold cereal or hot oatmeal breakfast included as well as sleeping bags and pillows.
It's small, cheap and great for one night or two. And can sleep up to 4 people. It does have carpet on the lower level and is insulated for the most part. You have use of the main house bathroom and shower, large yard, basketball ball court bathroom/shower, fridge and beach! Sleeping bags and pillows provided.
It's quiet, safe and has easy access to the Columbia River.
  • We had an amazing trip at Phil and Robin's cabin. They were extremely welcoming and made us feel like home. We had an awesome time playing ladder toss with them, and we loved being able to use their kayaks. The glamping cabin was very cozy!

  • The moment we arrived we wished we could have made it a longer stay. The place was extremely well equipped, clean, and comfortable. Julie was a great host (easy to reach and quick to respond). The kitchen, the fire pit, and the dock—I'd love to come back. Overall, this place made my weekend positively memorable.

  • A beautiful place to stay- lovely, quiet and welcoming. It is a working farm but the guest house is set on a quiet corner, near the dock. We saw a car pass by once every couple of hours but other then that, it was just the birds. A great spot for a family gathering or a quiet get away.

    Mary2015-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • This Airbnb is exactly as described. Very clean, well organized, lots of space. We even saw some cattle. Beth was a great host and gave us the right information about nearby towns with restaurants which was very helpful for our group of nine.

    Siddarth2017-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Seriously, this place is a gem - I don't even know where to start. I did not want to leave this amazing place. The barn is amazingly renovated, the property has everything you could ever want, and the views incredible. We cooked great food, we ate dinner on the dock, we kayaked, we SUP'ed, we took the ferry to the OR and hung out in Astoria - we left sooo relaxed and it was such a great escape. It was just the two of us, but a big group would certainly be very comfortable here as well. And what an amazing spot for a small wedding! The barn event space and grounds are very well thought out for events and everything is just darling. The barn is on the opposite side of the street from the dock, but it is a quick walk and a very quiet street. I could go on and on, but I will stop and just say - come here, you will not be disappointed!

Our stay was clean and comfortable, and the people we met who worked around the Farm were so warm and friendly. This was the perfect place to relax, the only thing we would change is next time book a longer stay than a week! Thank you so much!" The Istre Family Lafayette, LA

  • The barn house was an amazing place to host a friendsgiving. The kitchen is fully stocked with a lot of space for entertaining and having multiple cooks in the kitchen. We saw bald eagles, herons, and hawks on our walks around the island. It was beautiful and exactly what we wanted! Our one complaint was the lack of wifi during our stay.

    Lexi2016-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great accommodations, plenty of space and activities for ten people. We felt welcomed and at home. Place was very clean, plenty of towels and bathrobes, very cozy. We all would like to stay here again!

The Retreat at Tide Creek is your private getaway into nature! Escape the city and rest comfortably in the woods with a wood burning hot tub and shower, cozy queen-size bed, spacious wall-tent and outdoor kitchen space. The land at Tide Creek is nestled on 14 secluded acres of forest and open meadows within an hour or less of Portland. This natural outdoor space is good for couples, solo adventurers, families (with kids), and has the potential for bigger groups.
The spacious wall-tent is positioned in a private meadow along Tide Creek with a backdrop of mature trees, native plants, and wildflowers. You will have room enough to stand up in the tent, a real queen mattress to relax into, a fully set-up outdoor kitchen space, as well as a fire pit and camp chairs for your private use. Relax in our very rustic "spa" with an on-demand hot water shower and wood-burning hot tub. This is a shared area (if we too are out camping on the property).
Tide Creek is just three miles from the Columbia River, with easy river access for kayaks, kite-boarding, or swimming a short drive away. Our property is nestled in the woods but there are rural farm properties in the close vicinity.
  • We had a wonderful experience at Tidal Creek and the setting far exceeded my expectations. It's a true get away and yet so close to Portland. We will definitely come back. This place is a gem!

  • We slept like a baby surrounded by the sound of nature in a super comfy bed,we made a fire under the star filled sky and soaked in the (fabulous ) hot tub after a refreshing shower,we drank our morning coffee at the nearby pond ,we cooked a simple meal in the outdoor kitchen, sipped on a warm cup of Nettle tea and shared stories with our hosts....Cassie and Brent welcomed us with a warm smile and took care of all our needs just beautifully. They gave us all the privacy we needed but welcomed a visit anytime.

  • This place is awesome! And for the price - you must give it a try; you really can't lose. We had originally planned on going to Portland and Cannon Beach during the day but enjoyed exploring the land and the little town so much that we ended up not driving more than about 10 mins away. We also extended our trip - very relaxing retreat from the city life. The hosts were extremely friendly. We will definetly be back!

  • This was a fun airbnb experience. The tent is awesome, relatively spacious and very comfortable. In addition to the propane stove we had a fire pit (which we cooked in), with bottled water and a chest full of dinner ware available. There is a little creek with a swing right by the tent which we loved. Showers are secluded (trees around) but otherwise open air, and there is a home made hot tub (heated with a fire) that we enjoyed. The bathroom is the only drawback in our opinion, since it is essentially an outhouse without walls. :) It is secluded, but we are wimpy city people. Overall we loved staying here.

    Tracy2016-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Cassie and Brent were wonderful hosts. Their land is beautiful and peaceful, and just what I needed to relax and unwind away from city living. The tent is fantastic- a clean, super comfortable private oasis of 'glamping' fun tucked away in a secluded field. Just lazily reading and watching the birds, while stretched out on the rug as the sun set, and the bats appeared in the twilight just before a glorious display of stars, all made for an ideal, relaxing evening. Cassie is a warm and non-intrusive host, and made me feel very welcome during my brief stay. I never did get around to taking a dip in the wood-heated tub, but I hope to do so on another trip, this time with my boyfriend for SURE, this place is super romantic and comfortable.

    Jo2016-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • This glamping spot was really nice. The tent was so comfy and had nice touches of home. The outdoor shower was amazingly refreshing in the morning! I would love to come back here and spend more time.

  • If you're yearning for a far away peaceful paradise, this tent set up by the creek is a perfect fit. Brent and Cassie (and little one), are the kindest hosts. We felt welcome, comfortable, and very well cared for. ❤️
