  • The place was awesome! Very peaceful and had a great night sleep. Thanks so much

  • The cottage was absolutely adorable. We loved everything about it. Sarah and Dominic left us a cute note and bottle of wine to greet us. It was clean and the perfect price. I would definitely stay there again.

    Lauren2016-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah is a lovely human, very welcoming. The property is beautiful and it convinced my wife we want to live in a tiny house.

    Nomi2015-12-19T00:00:00Z
  • We loved this tiny home! It was exactly what we were looking for. Close to both Brattleboro and Manchester we had choices of places to spend the day. Spending time cozy in the tiny home was our favorite part though. Beautiful laid out, and all details attended to. Sarah was welcoming and not at all intrusive. Perfect weekend! We hope to go back soon!

    Amy2014-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • Apple Blossom Cottage is the perfect getaway for any season. The description is accurate and Sarah is by far the most welcoming and thorough airbnb host I have stayed with! We had a part of 4 people staying in this tiny house for a ski trip. The space was a little tight, but perfect none the less. We loved the firepit outside, Sarah's fantastic use of color to brighten the place up, and her thorough communication. She also had a welcome packet ready for us that had a plethora of helpful information.

    Anna2015-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was lovely. Tucked away in the woods, it still had basically every amenity one could ask for. Super cozy, and very easy access to the Green Mtn State Park!

    Salman2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah welcomed us right as we drove up and made sure we had everything we needed. The tiny house was so cozy and had such a great time.

    Emily2016-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was absolutely wonderful. It was a perfect place to spend our thanksgiving. There was plenty of room for all of us. We enjoyed playing the games and reading the books. Looking forward to coming back in the spring.

  • Our stay here at Kathleen's spectacular Victorian home in the center of Chester was fabulous. The home itself is amazing. It's astonishingly well equipped with everything you could ever want: a good kitchen, an entertainment game room with a wet bar, lots of those Victoria sitting rooms all furnished with antiques and period coverings, lots and lots of bedrooms all with their own bathroom. It is nestled right in the center of this colorful and charming old new england town. Restaurants and art galleries in walking distance and the best cemetery across the street with 200 ' cedars and old revolutionary war heroes peacefully snoring away. The house is impeccably clean and with all the linens and pots and pans you need. And Kathleen was great to deal with. Responsive to all our question and very welcoming.

    Kathleen2014-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was exactly how it was in the description, but you don't get the full scope of the house till you get there. It was a Georges house with plenty of space. Everyone slept comfortably and the house was one of the best parts about our trip. The neighborhood was wonderful. It was quiet even though we were on a main road. There were nice quaint shops and restaurants around. The hosts were very kind and helpful. I would highly recommend this house to anyone.

    Antoine2016-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • My group of 10 had an awesome Vermont weekend at Kathleen and Neil's house. The house has great modern amenities yet doesn't lose its historic Vermont charm. The house is very spacious (larger than the pictures make it seem) and the bar/living room is a perfect place to hang out after a day on the slopes. Kathleen and Neil were so nice and accommodating throughout the entire rental process. I would absolutely rent from them again (and hopefully they put the house up next year so that I can). Overall great experience.

    Matt2014-03-24T00:00:00Z
  • This was my second year staying at this delightful and spacious home, and it's now one of my favorite bookmarked destinations. The location is perfectly situated for a particular weekend of bike racing that is on my autumn calendar, and the owners are gracious and accommodating. With room to sleep 10 friends comfortably, it's ideal for a group getaway.

    Lesli2016-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Kathleen's house while in Vermont for a wedding. We absolutely loved her place and would defiantly book again! Very clean, well-equipped, spacious, and we especially enjoyed the game room with the foosball table and wet bar! Thanks Kathleen!

    Marylyn2016-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • One of the best places to stay when going skiing! Everyone loved playing foosball. curling up next to the fireplace, and making delicious popcorn in the popcorn machine (which you might need to buy kernels for). The toddlers loved running around the spacious home!

    Yury2016-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • Our family of 9 came to Kathleen and Neal's to celebrate Thanksgiving week-end with our son who lives in Vermont but has not been able to join us in the past due to job constraints as we live in Rhode Island. And what a lovely stay! The home is so very warm and welcoming with plenty of room for a large group. It is well equipped with new appliances and there is something for everyone. The town of Chester is quaint and typically Vermont and the downtown only 2 blocks away! I would definitely recommend this charming home.

  • While my stay in Chester was very short, Angie did a great job making sure it was fantastic. The room and house was very clean, breakfast was delicious, and the location was perfect for access to Chester and the surrounding region! I definitely recommend Angie's house for all Eastern Vermont travelers.

  • Angie welcomed us when we arrived and made us feel at home throughout our experience. She really went above and beyond, especially with our breakfast, which was incredible. Room was great, exactly what we were looking for. Simple, clean, private. Awesome stay, wish we were there for longer.

  • Angie was very responsive. Room and Inn were clean and staff was welcoming. Delicious breakfast. Inn is not fancy, but a good value in a beautiful area of Vermont.

  • We loved our one night stay at the Karass Inn! We were greated by Angie when we arrived on a Friday evening and she showed us to our room as well as gave us a map of Chester and some dinner recommendations. She let us know that breakfast is served anytime between 7 and 10:30 and to just let her know when we would like it. After dinner in Ludlowe, we stopped by the liquor store down the street and had a glass of wine in the great room. The inn was very well kept and just what we needed for our 24 hour get away. The following morning, we woke up at 9:45 for breakfast at 10. Angie cooked us blueberry muffins, eggs, bacon, and French toast. It was all delicious and such a treat! We will be returning in the future with friends. Thank you Angie!

  • Amazing breakfast - huge and delicious! The innkeepers were very flexible with check-in. We had to arrive earlier than expected and that was no problem. Great communication. The innkeepers leave you alone but are willing to answer questions if needed.

  • We really enjoyed our stay at the Karass Inn. After a long flight, it was just what we were looking for -- comfortable beds in a small town. I loved the feeling of being in an old house. We took their advice and were lucky enough arrive in time to go to The Free Range where we had a delicious meal. We slept well in the soft beds and enjoyed the breakfast offered the next morning. We had just one night so we spent the day walking around the town and spent quite a bit of time in the excellent bookstore in Chester, Phoenix Books.

    Abbie2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a gem between Brattleboro and Burlington. Our room was immaculate and had a lot of charm. You can tell a lot of thought and care are put into the details here. Our highlight was the personalized breakfast that accommodated our complicated dietary needs. Angie was communicative and easy going from the beginning of our reservation through our stay. We were only passing through, but after having dinner on the downtown Chester strip, we went back the next morning to check out more of the shops and check out the swinging bridge that hangs over a small stream. Great place!

    Genevieve2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Angie was super nice and welcoming. The house itself is lovely, and very nicely decorated. Our room was clean and bed was comfy and cozy. I loved the great room and the homemade breakfast, which included delicious and fresh blueberry muffins. Yum! There's a pizza place two doors down which makes food easy. Beware, on weekends a local band plays so if you're looking for a quiet dinner, it may not be your scene. There's always takeaway though. Overall, I highly recommend.

  • Tom was very welcoming and responsive, and the loft was beautiful and cozy! We really enjoyed our stay!

    Kara2017-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • This was the most incredible airbnb experience I've had so far!!! Tom was a very accessible & generous host - he provided us with snacks, tips about the town, and a beautiful space. Grafton is absolutely gorgeous. Would highly encourage anyone who visits to spend as much time exploring & engaging with the town as they can! The cabin was clean, well equipped, and extra cozy.

    Solange2016-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Tom offers a generous, warm, and thoughtful home. Everything is carefully included, with creativity and comfort. We were touched by the inclusion of eggs, Grafton Village cheddar, bagels, beer and orange juice and the kitchen has anything one would need to enjoy a hearty home cooked meal. The home is cozied among trails for walking, with apple orchard and streams abound. Grateful for all the care and comfort provided! Would recommend to any one!

    Antea2016-11-26T00:00:00Z

Would highlyrics recommend any to stay here there are two great towns very close nearby his home that I enjoyed greatly thanks for being on airbnb Tom I will definitely be a repeat customer :)

    mark2016-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • I'm hesitant to give an accurate and honest review. I'm planning on coming back and I really don't want this place to be booked solid! I really enjoyed my stay here. Tom was attentive and communicative. He answered any and all questions I had. The Woodshed is the most charming little place. The kitchen was stocked with some snacks, a few beers and oj. I pretty much cleaned him out with the emotional eating I was doing. I was alone so the size of the place didn't matter much but I can see up to 4 people staying here without much trouble, as long as you are all pretty friendly already. Even though it was sweltering hot I found the loft comfortable to sleep in. The combination of the a.c. downstairs and the fans kept the upstairs comfortable. I didn't do any cooking but I could have. There is a full size range with all the cooking implements you'd need and a mini fridge. There is no sink in the kitchen but the bathroom has a large sink you can wash dishes in. The bathroom is pretty standard with a toilet, large sink and a shower. I can't say anything about the indoor shower because I only used the outdoor shower. That was my favorite! Showering outdoors was the best. I thought maybe I'd use the outdoor shower once as a novelty but I love it so much I used it exclusively, most days twice a day! There is an area the sit out back but bring the bug spray. There wasn't a ton of bugs but if you are one of those people that the bugs love, like I am, they will find you. It's so quiet and peaceful up there. There's not much in the town of Grafton itself but it's only 45 minutes from Brattleboro where they have a lovely farmers market on Saturdays and downtown is really nice. Back to Grafton.... The MKT is the place for breakfast, lunch or dinner. They have great breakfast sandwiches and the lunches are good too. They are also well stocked with all the essentials you need for cooking. I also ate at Phelps Barn. The food was great and the bartender was fun. I ate at the bar, chatted with some out of towners and overall had a blast. I will definitely be coming back here. I really enjoyed my stay.

    Karen2016-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Spent a great night at Tom’s. Everything was great upon arrival, glad we decided to stay here. Would love to check things out in Grafton in the summer!

  • We had a fantastic time staying at the Jennifer's house. We came in 3 families, including 6 kids under 7 years old. The house is great - old and stylish, from 1830, with high ceilings, big rooms and lots of space. Many antique touches around the house, which we liked a lot. New appliances (stove, fridge, washer, dryer) made our stay very comfortable. Kids had a great time playing in the house (board games and wiki+roku helped too) and the dining room+table easily fit all of us. We came for skiing and the house was perfect for it, being 20 minutes from Magic Mountain or Okemo (we went to both). Our trip was during the historic cold snap of 2017/2018 (-30F outside) and the whole house was perfectly warm (2 rooms used space heaters, rest was central air). The house is very close (2 minute walk) to the local store which is very convenient, particularly in winter. Jennifer was very easy and very fast to communicate with, which made us feel that we're in good hands - the house caretaker was available for questions/requests too. We loved our stay in Jennifer's house in Chester and hope to be back one day for skiing.

    Adam2018-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • The house was wonderful! We were two families and there was more than enough space for everyone to play, eat, and sleep. The house was well set up with basic amenities plus some nice extras like a pack n play and stroller. The location is central for an easy walk to town, and across the street fro the Green Mountain Railway and an nice market. The weather was unseasonably warm for the most part - but it was chilly when we first arrived and house warmed up surprisingly quick on the recommend heat settings. We would love to return again!

    Erica & Hugh2017-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Jennifer and Michael have a beautiful home. It served as a very sweet spot for my friends and I to retreat to over a long autumn weekend. We loved sitting out on the porch in the sun with our morning coffee and a guitar. And the market across the street had everything we could have wanted or needed. Jennifer was a clear and responsive host and we appreciated the maps and recommendations left in a basket by the entry way.

This bright and comfortable cabin is a perfect retreat. The colors in fall will be visible all around. Access to tennis, softball, volleyball, hiking, biking and skiing in the winter. This is an all season cabin and we are central to many ski resorts.
Sitting on the high point of the property with views all around. Great road access with a nice parking area. Campfire space outside with chairs and seating on the deck to watch beautiful sunrises or metior showers.
It's quiet but we are close to the main highways in Vermont.
  • This place is truly beautiful and the host is super nice! She left some goodies at the cabin for us to eat for breakfast, she offered her gas grill for us to use, and when we mentioned to her that we were going skiing she offered me her own skiing equipment, she let me borrow everything, boots, skies, helmet, gogles, poles! She also gave us suggestions on what to do and where to go. Also, she put a tv on our cabin since the day we arrived was raining and there wasn't much to do. The kitchen has everything you need, bed is comfy and the view out the window is awesome. We loved our stay there!

  • We had a lovely time at Robin's cabin! It's completely off the beaten track and has a gorgeous view of the surrounding mountains. The cabin is small and sparse but perfect for a couple with one child. There is a lot of outdoor seating and a fire pit to enjoy the view, and they also have friendly ponies and a horse. Robin provided us with farm fresh eggs, milk and coffee. Highly recommended for a cozy stay off the grid (no Wi-Fi or service ;-)

  • This is a great place to "get away". Even though it seems somewhat remote, it isn't far to grocery store or outings. The owners were super helpful. The place was clean and the bed was super comfortable. I'd highly recommend it.

  • What a great place to stay for a quiet, unplugged weekend! Clean, tidy, and all around nice place to stay.

  • Nice and quiet getaway spot. Great view with a deck to overlook it all. A little difficult to find in the dark but upon arrival the host was there to point us in the right direction. Definitely would recommend if you're looking for a private spot to stay for a couple nights.

Serene, simple, and clean treetop apartment surrounded by hiking trails, cool stream, and mountaintop views. 1.5 miles to Chester Village. Adjacent to blown glass artist studio and showroom.
This timber frame apartment is on the second floor, with hillside views of swaying white pines, stonewalls, blueberry bushes and a clean flowing stream. Skylights and newer timber frame construction add to a bright private space and relaxing atmosphere.
Chester is an historical 250 year old town in Vermont with a center Green, recreational areas, bookstore, restaurants, grocery store, shops and registered historical landmark stone houses.
  • Our stay at Tamasin's Treetop Timber Frame Apartment was great. The perfect getaway for a weekend. Tamasin was a great host, and had great communication. I would recommend this rental to anyone.

  • Tamasin's house was so beautiful, extremely clean, and had a lovely view of the hills from the big living room window. It fit four of us very comfortably and we had a wonderful stay -highly recommend!

  • Nick and Tamasin's home is incredible. It's on the second level of their glass blowing studio overlooking 93 acres of forest. This Airbnb is private and exactly what you want when visiting Vermont. Our group of 6 slept comfortably with more that enough room to spread out, cook, and lounge around. All of the the beds were very comfortable as well. Also, the wood burning stove is great to cozy up to after skiing. Okemo is about 20 minutes away. Nick and Tamasin were responsive, the house was clean, check-in and out was flexible... And we even got to watch Nick work in the studio before heading out. Truly a unique experience! I would highly recommend this home to anyone. We will be back.

  • When you imagine the beauty of rural Vermont, you are imagining Tamsin and Nick's place. For us it was the best of both worlds- the feeling of being surrounded by nature that you have when camping, together with the comfort and ammenities of a hotel. The pictures don't do it justice, both the surroundings and the house itself are more beautiful in real life. The location is also perfect- it's outside the town of Chester, in the woods, so you have complete peace and quiet and lovely forests to walk in right outside the door, but on the other hand, if you need some milk, Chester is only a 5 min drive and has both stores and restaurants. We're a family of 6, with 4 kids ages 14, 12, 9 and 7. There was plenty of room for all of us (two bedrooms and a loft that the kids loved) without feeling a bit crowded. We enjoyed playing games in the living room and making meals there, just absorbing the stunning views from the window. The kitchen is well equipped, so with a quick trip to the supermarket in Chester at the beginning, it was easy to prepare meals. There is lots to do in the area, and Tamsin left us brochures and hiking books which were very helpful. We hiked up to the top of Mt. Ascutney, which is only 40 or so min away, and went to see some nearby waterfalls. But mostly we enjoyed wandering around the forests surrounding the house and splashing in the creek that runs in front of the house. My kids got a kick out of picking the blueberries and blackberries that grow in the yard too. If you're looking to get away from the hustle and bustle, enjoy stunning scenery and comfortable, cozy accommodations, this is the place for you. We loved it and if we lived in the US, would definitely make it a regular vacation.

  • This place was awesome. Very secluded and yet only a few minutes from a very cute town, with plenty to do. I didn't get the chance to meet the owners, but they were very accommodating and helpful. I would go back, again, and again.

    luke2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful natural location complete with babbling brook. The nearby town of Chester is a delight with restaurants, bakery and shops. Nick's glass studio in the building is an added bonus if you appreciate fine art.

    David2017-06-12T00:00:00Z
  • beautiful home and great value for us to ski at Okemo and loved the glass art, my boys loved getting to see him make some too

  • We were extremely happy with our stay in The Treetop Apartment. Our hosts were very welcoming, and provided us with all the information to make our stay a safe and comfortable one with two small children. The apartment has beautiful views from every window and skylight and was delightful in both sunshine and rain. Very quiet and peaceful location. There is a number of surrounding villages all within a short drive. A highlight for us was the blueberry picking right outside the front door. We would love to visit again.

The loft is a quit retreat, with a separate entrance you enter through your own mudroom great to store your bicycle or skis. Up the stairs to the main living space shows the old hand hewn beams. The space is bright and welcoming. A small kitchen with stove and oven will allow for meals or just coffee in the morning. In addition to the loft we offer rooms to rent that are accessible through the loft. These rooms are listed separate from this listing.
Quiet 100 acres of field, forest and trails to roam. We are in the second year of our vineyard and starting a farm in the spring of 2018. We have trails, tennis, baseball and volleyball if you like to play or just sit by the campfire.
We are less than 10 miles from I91. Far enough to be a quiet retreat but close enough to run to the store if needed. We have many great farm stands and farmers markets for fresh vegetables during the summer and a great small grocer with fantastic meat!
  • This was a lovely stay. Very clean and comfortable, and an amazing amount of space and privacy for the price.

    Alexandra2017-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • The loft was the perfect place for a winter getaway. I stayed with a friend and we were able to snowshoe around their beautiful property. The loft was cozy and warm. Robin was a great host, answered my questions right away and checked in to see if we needed new linens.

    Karen2017-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Such an amazing place, horses, camping, super clean, super quiet and a perfect getaway from the city life, a cute kitchen that allowed us to cook our own food and such a treat to wake up in front of the lake. We stayed at the Loft and I would definitely recommend it.

    Tuly2017-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • We visited Vermont for the foliage and to get away from the noise and pollution of NYC. Robin’s place was all I could ever ask for; affordable, tranquil and beautiful. We also got to meet their beautiful daughters! Even their turkeys and chickens were so friendly to us. The loft that we stayed in was comfortable and neat. Location wise for us, it’s central to many of the places on our itinerary. Would most definitely recommend if you’re looking for a peaceful retreat. I myself am looking forward to my next stay with them!

    Scottie2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Robin’s private loft was perfect for us. Spacious for two people (perhaps as well for two couples) in an open layout loft apartment. We enjoyed the warmth (!!!) and coziness after a day of skiing. The property is beautiful, and only a short drive to many ski areas. We would also recommend The Free Range as an excellent place to grab dinner 10 minutes down the road in nearby Chester.

    Tyler2017-11-20T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I stayed at Robin's cozy loft for a few days while we were home visiting family. I was very surprised while pulling up the drive way to see all there beautiful land! Robin made us feel very welcomed as soon as we got there, inviting us to an event she had going on. (Unfortunately for us we couldn't attend.) The living space is welcoming and beautiful, we hope we can make it back again sometime!

    Holly2017-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • Robin’s loft is located within 30 minutes of at least 3 different ski resorts. After a day or skiing, it was great to unwind in the warm loft.

  • Look no further than Krystina and Doug's 'Amare Guesthouse' if you're looking to relax in Chester, Vermont. This delightfully rustic listing has a large kitchen that can accommodate large groups. The fireplace room next to the kitchen and the living room both give you a tremendous opportunity to experience hygge, or life's simple pleasures. Krystina and Doug also gave us great tips on where to eat around town that were all perfect. While most people rent this great place in the summer, do not sleep on a winter experience. Can't wait to rent from Krystina and Doug again.

  • This house is brimming with charm! And the hosts are extremely responsive and make check in and check out a breeze. Chester has a few cute shops in town and is close to outdoor activities in ludlow, VT. It's a great spot and my friends and I are already planning to return again in the summer!

  • Amazing space in a great location. Stayed here for Xmas with my Australian in-laws. Close to town and close to skiiing, we had a great time.

    Jack2017-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our weekend at Krystina & Doug's historic home. The house is beautiful and full of special touches that make you never want to leave! We love trying new restaurants but ended up cooking at the house both nights because we just wanted to stay & relax (and enjoy the wine they left for us!) The bedrooms are all cozy and roomy. Plenty of room for our family of 6. There is a pantry filled with lovely home goods you can purchase (which we did!), and Krystina's gorgeous shop is just down the street! Definitely don't miss it! Krystina is so sweet and most accommodating. Chester is such a cute, quaint town. Moon Dog Cafe was absolutely delicious - the only place we ate in town. I wish we could have stayed longer, but hope to return soon!

  • If you are looking for a beautiful cozy home to escape to then the Amare guest house should be your first choice! It's beautifully decorated and the love that has been poured into the renevations is palpable. We really didn't know much about the area of Chester Vt when we chose the house based solely on the pictures we viewed on airbnb. The pictures are a great representation of how the home truly looks. If you want to experience a Vermont vacation in a quaint town, with so many comforts of home, this is definitely the place!

    Michelle2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Amare guesthouse is the perfect place to relax with family and friends. It's homey and cozy while still maintaining a Victorian grace. Nights spent out on the porch with a glass of wine and a view from atop the hill were among the most peaceful times I've ever had on a vacation. The location couldn't be more convenient as it is in walking distance from all the cutest shops, restaurants, and cafes in town. I cannot wait to visit this very special place every summer.

    Kara2017-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Doug and Krystina's house is gorgeous and has been renovated very tastefully. They were very sweet to leave us some wine and DELICIOUS tomatoes as well as a pack and play for our little one. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and exploring the local area!

    Charlotte2016-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Krystina and Doug's home was exactly as advertised! It's a charming old farmhouse that's been restored beautifully. The kitchen had everything we needed to make a gourmet dinner and a great breakfast. The beds were super comfortable and the wifi was lightning fast. The home is walking distance to town. We enjoyed Moon Dog Cafe for breakfast and lunch. The Free Range was a fantastic dinner choice. We snowboarded at Bromley, which was about 30 minutes away. We'll be back!

  • Great place, exactly as described and perhaps more spacious than we expected. Host was very communicative and helpful and our only regret was we didn't have an extra day to just hang out.

    Bam2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Very responsive hosts! We had no problem checking-in, and everything was provided for us prior to arrival. Upon arriving, we were greeted with a clipboard with additional "good to know" information for the house. House was very comfy and cozy, and the futon is surprisingly firm and solid – we thoroughly enjoyed it as an additional sleeping piece. However, it can get a little chilly at night, so we gave the futon sleeper the extra blankets, and left the bedroom doors open to share the heat, which was helpful. Not sure if it was the bedsheets, but the bed had static – not a big deal though. Other than that, they had everything from towels (+extras), to bedsheets (+extras), bathroom essentials (body wash, shampoo, q-tips, etc), common kitchen use (pam oil, salt, pepper, etc), and did I mention they had a lot of TV show options? It was so comfy at the house that we barely made it to the slopes! We boarded at Okemo, which is an exact 18-minute drive away – super convenient! A bodega/corner store/deli/market/convenient store with beer growlers is walking distance away (literally right across the street pass the train tracks). It was nice to come back, drop off gears and walk over to do some grocery shopping for dinner. Prices there were reasonable. I would definitely consider staying here again for my next Okemo trip!

  • My friends and I had a wonderful weekend of skiing and relaxation at Jennifer and Michael's lovely house. From the comfy blankets to the soft and plentiful towels, stocked kitchen, and convenient washing machines, the house had everything we could have needed. We had a blast playing games, cooking, and just lounging in the common space. The location was perfect too - very easy 20 min drive to Okemo. Jennifer was super friendly and easy to communicate with, by far the most responsive and helpful host I've had in my years of Airbnb-ing. Thanks for everything!

    Christina2017-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • What a remarkable get away. We ventured up from Florida to escape the heat and see colors other than green and brown and we were not disappointed. The weather was made to order and national park just outside of town offered all the colors of fall. We cannot say enough about the accommodations, they were exactly as described on the website. We stayed in the Carriage House and found it to be charming and impeccably clean. The town of Chester was like stepping back in time and very friendly, we loved the fact that everything was within walking distance. The hosts, Jen & Mike were awesome and checked in with us throughout our stay to make sure everything was as it should be. The check-in & out process was smooth and easy. Looking forward to going back.

  • We Floridians were quite comfortable in the Carriage House in a winter wonderland! Our cozy and tranquil apartment is located on a beautiful hilltop farm with views out from the porch across horse pasture and to the mountains as far away as New Hampshire. There are over 100 acres of field to walk through as well as a mile long trail running down through our property. We are 15 minutes from Chester, Ludlow and Weston and within half an hour of several major downhill ski resorts and 2 cross country ski areas.
The apartment has been renovated recently. Our daughter lived there for awhile before heading off to college and so it has a homey feel to it as well as being relatively free of clutter. It is very light and airy in the summer with large windows on 3 sides. I like to walk up from our house just a couple 100 yards away and sometimes just sit quietly and look out over the field to the mountains far away. It’s just a nice place to be. The kitchen is outfitted for cooking. We provide some basics: salt, oil for the frying pan, coffee(bring half and half if you want it--we just can't keep a fresh supply of it and don't like the sugar and other stuff in the dried versions)-- and a small selection of tea. We provide towels and linens and some toiletries. We ask that you take your outdoor shoes off when you come in to protect the new wood floor. Because the floor can be cold in the winter bring a pair of slippers or indoor shoes. There is one very comfortable double futon bed in the bedroom and a double futon couch in the living area as well. The place is heated with a new Rinnai propane unit. We ask you to turn it down at night and when you are out and generally use energy thoughtfully. There are lots of books and a few games to use. We have considered getting internet but have had quite a bit of feedback from guests suggesting that they are surprised at how little they miss it and how nice it is to be unplugged. So for now there isn't wifi in the apartment. There are places in town where internet is available and in an emergency you could come down to our house to use the WiFi.
Vermont is rural and beautiful in all seasons--even mud season has its charm. You can have a restful, rejuvenating vacation just staying on the farm. But there are many restaurants, shops and activities nearby too. My father in law used to joke that our farm is the SECOND most beautiful place in the world. The views are indeed awe inspiring and we feel there is a special spirit to the land.
  • Such a cute spot! We stayed here after a super cold day out skiing Okemo and it fit the bill for a cozy spot to spend the night! 10/10

  • As parents of an active toddler, we were a bit hesitant to travel and try AirBnB for the very first time. I can say for certain that Laura is as good as they get as far as hosts go. They were not only helpful in finding their location (which our (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps could not navigate), but also drove out to meet us at an easy to find spot in order to guide us to the destination. The home is fully stocked with utensils, pots, pans, plates, mugs, tea, coffee, fridge, full sized sink, and even napkins. The living room is super cozy, with two couches, one of which turns into a bed, small dining table for three, simple games, a cool radio, holiday lights, and most importantly, a heater that works extremely well. The bedroom is small and cozy, which suited well for our family of 2.5 (two adults and one toddler) and there were hangers and chairs at every spot that was necessary. The bathroom was clean, updated, the shower spout has great water power, the towels were wonderfully large and fluffy, soap/shampoo was provided, plenty of tp, and even a portable heater right in the bathroom. nice! And I have to add this in because as a parent, its a Huge deal — when I asked Laura if she could offer some suggestions about what to do on our last day, not only did she offer some great recommendations, but she even offered to color and play with our son while my husband and I snow shoe for an hour. Whoa. talk about hospitality. We ended up taking the farm animal fair option for our animal lover toddler, but all the same, we are so grateful for the offer. So kind. I doubt you will be disappointed here. If your are looking for something near public transit, this is not the end of your search. But if looking to find a secluded beautifully updated cottage like feel of a home in VT for a very reasonable price for what you get, look no further.

  • This was our first Airbnb experience, so we were a little apprehensive, but Laura and John made us feel right at home. We had some trouble finding the place, but Laura was very patient with us and talked us through it. The apartment was clean, cozy, and well represented in the pictures and descriptions. The kitchen was well equipped and allowed us to save money by cooking all of our meals. The space was roomy enough for all four of us, and felt a little larger than the pictures made it seem. It was conveniently located less than a 20 minutes from Okemo mountain. We hope to be back again in the summer to enjoy the beautiful property. Thank you for a great first stay!

  • The apartment is cozy, quaint, and happy. We loved it! The scenery is amazing! My husband and I couldn't have picked a better place to stay! We went for an early morning walk along a beautiful country lane. The view from the front porch is breathtaking! Laura and John are very gracious hosts and John is also a great minister, if you get a chance to hear him preach. We highly recommend this place!

    Darin2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Laura's place is clean with an elegant simplicity. I really appreciated a having a full kitchen with plenty of dishes and glasses and cookware to work with. The shower is small, but the water is hot. The bed and futon were both terrifically comfortable and plenty of blankets kept them cozy on a howling winter night. A friend and I shared the space while on a ski trip, and found it relaxing and a terrific base for exploring the area. Laura and her husband are friendly, funny and congenial hosts. If I get back to Vermont, I would definitely ask for permission to visit them again. Cell coverage was spotty in that area, so print out directions! (I had text and could get incoming calls, GPS navigator still worked with Verizon. My buddy had AT&T and could get nothing at all.)

  • The stone house was a perfect weekend getaway. The house was spacious, beautiful and had everything we needed. Also the town of Chester was very cute and everything was within walking distance.

  • Thanks Doreen for letting us stay in the adorable Stone House. This was a great house in a perfect location with close proximity (15-20 minute drive) to Okemo resort. The town of Chester is historic and family friendly. Doreen left us lots of treats/snacks and we really appreciated the hospitality. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Vermont.

  • The Stone House was a perfect setting for our Sisters' Weekend. Accommodations were very pleasant. The town of Chester is quaint, with plenty to do within walking distance, multiple dining options, a quick car trip to the Vermont Country Store, and a bit longer car trip to the retail outlets in Manchester. We would definitely stay at the Stone House again!

  • An adorable stone house. Great location just a short walk to downtown Chester. Wonderful amenities and attention to details.

  • House is lovely with a nice kids room. It was well stocked with towels, kitchen supplies etc. It was a perfect location for us too.

  • We just spent a long weekend at Doreen's beautiful and cozy home in Chester and skied at nearby Okemo (20 minute drive). Our hosts thought of everything to make our experience as welcoming, trouble free, and comfortable as possible. The house is really charming and had everything we needed. The welcome gifts of snacks and treats were much appreciated and such a kind gesture. Doreen and her husband are very attentive hosts and responded quickly to any inquiries. Chester is a nice little town- we had a great breakfast at Moondog cafe on our last day. Our family hopes to rent the house again soon- it was a truly relaxing and wonderful stay.

    Helen2016-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • First, the house is VERY clean and charming. Also, a great location that's within walking distance to downtown Chester shops and restaurants as well as an easy drive to other towns. The house is on a main road, so if you require absolute silence at night I don't recommend this place. Overall, a great place for a weekend away.

    Sara2017-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • The house was fantastic! Very clean and spacious (can comfortably accommodate a party of 6). Doreen and Mike were great hosts. Mike even spoke to me prior to our stay to find out if we needed anything else and even offered to remotely switch on the heat so that the house is nice and cosy by the time we reach! And thanks for the 'Made in Vermont' goodies that was waiting for us in the house! Chester itself is a nice little town in southern Vermont, with lot of nice food places in walking distance from the house. I definitely recommend 'Pizza Stone', this was one of Doreen and Mike's recommendations and I'm so glad we tried it.

*Site Only* Come tent or bring your camper to our beautiful land. We have made a small campground that can hold 4 campers and 2 tent sites. Enjoy the land that was once a children's camp turned private residence and now camp and vinyard.
100 acres to roam. The campground is very small and secluded. Great for families.
Less than 10 miles from I91 also close to stores and markets. Yet far enough away from roads to truly engoy rural Vermont.
  • Super chill spot! Lovely surroundings and super nice people. The ground is super soft so it's perfect for tent camping, plus the water and electricity hook up on site an extra bonus!

    Caitlin2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Loved the campground hidden in the middle of 100 acres of beautiful land, trees, and trails. The campground is small, such a nice change from the big camping "resorts" it was easy for us to pull the RV into our site and hook up. I loved how peaceful it was, and pleasant to visit with other campers. There are lots of bikeing and hiking trails ( you can rent bikes ).There were wild ducks in the pond and it was a joy to relax and watch the horses grazing in the field. Great spot to camp !!!

  • Wonderful space in a quiet neighborhood. Cara responded to my question in a timely manner. Would love to stay here again!

    Al2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Although Cara was not there to greet us, her father in law did a great job of showing us around and making us feel at home. He was ready to help with any issues we had, be it lighting the fire or helping us with some ingredients we forgot. All in all it was a great stay in a cozy, atypical hut.

  • I stayed here with 4 friends as part of a golf trip weekend with some friends, while all of our significant others were at a bachelorette party. We pretty much were only at the house for an hour or two outside of sleeping, but it was the perfect place to stay for a night between the two courses that we were playing. Cara was really communicative and helpful.

    Jack2017-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • Very cute place to stay! Nice getaway for the weekend. Beautiful and peaceful area. Quiet...exactly what I was looking for. Great hiking in the area which I highly recommend! Not a lot of space, but there was definitely a comfortable sleeping arrangement for my friends and me. Such a treasure.

    Elisabeth2016-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed in Cara's perfect little cottage with 9 friends, and from the second I booked the weekend to the moment we pulled out of the driveway, the whole experience could not have been better. Cara and I were in constant communication-- over airbnb messages and through texts-- and she was happy to answer all our questions. We were welcomed to the house by Cara's wonderful father who gave us all hugs upon arrival and showed us around. Cara's sister, Lisa, also left us a note with her number letting us know that she's just around the corner if we need anything. The house was clean and beautiful in the quaint little town of Chester. We went hiking in Hamilton Falls, apple picking at Alyson's Orchard, and ate out at Moondog Cafe for lunch and Free Range for Sunday brunch. The weekend couldn't have gone any better, and that is all thanks to Cara's hospitality and kindness.

  • Cara was very accommodating when we had to cancel at the last minute.

    Michael2017-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • Me and my friend's stayed at Cara's 300 year old country house, we really liked the vintage feel it brought, We were 7 people and they had enough beds to accommodate. We reached the place at about midnight and Cara's grandfather was up to welcome us and show us the place. We had to travel a bit for our Adirondacks trip, for a group of friends who needed a place to sleep-this might be a good choice. We had a great memorial day weekend!

  • Cara's place was perfect for my husband, myself, and our pup! We stayed for a week over Thanksgiving. The apartment is located very close to the town green area where you can find a coffee shop, pie store, nice restaurant, and great little shops. The apartment itself is very cozy and welcoming. It had everything we needed for hosting dinners for my family and an endless supply of linens and towels. It's open and roomy. Our pup enjoyed lounging by the cozy fireplace. Cara was incredibly easy to work with, and always available when we had questions. We definitely plan to stay at her place again!

Beautifully decorated 1st floor apartment, private entrance, queen bed, pullout couch in living room, full bath, kitchenette, deck with mountain view in heart of Vermont woods, trails for year round recreation near charming towns with A+ restaurants, skiing, shopping, all you can imagine for a great Vermont year round getaway. For winter snowmobilers the VAST snowmobile trail is accessible from our property as are trails for XC skiing and snowshoeing.
The setting is beautiful. The apartment spacious and charming.
Our neighborhood is RURAL! We live on a dirt road off a dirt road with a beautiful brook running alongside the road and ponds up the hill on our property. In the summer we often have our neighbor's sheep in our fields, fish in pond, and wood waiting to be stacked for the winter. In the fall the mountains are splendid with colorful leaves, and spring just smells good; it is the hopeful time of the year as things are about to bloom. And winter - we have SNOW! And we keep our roads plowed. Come join us for any season.
  • The location was amazingly beautiful with stunning views as advertised. The flat is very nice with spacious bed room, living area, and bathroom. Nicely furnished and clean. The kitchen area is very basic with no oven, but that is not a surprise. Refrigerator more than adequate for a week's stay. Grounds were great to take a walk or a run. Host was easy to communicate with via email or texting and kept us apprised of their activities to coordinate our arrival. Would definitely return and looking forward to visiting again. Thanks, Hugh and Nancy. Wonderful place.

  • Perfect place to stay for a ski trip! Close to Okemo and lots of great restaurants. The space was clean, comfortable, and had a lovely view! I was pleasantly surprised by the super comfortable mattress! And, I snagged a couple bottles of maple syrup that they make right on the property for an awesome price!

  • If you're looking for a homey feel with a gorgeous setting, this is the place to stay. The "granny flat" is set overlooking the Purple Hill mountains. The setting is gorgeous. The hosts were very welcoming and communicate effectively. Our favorite part was hiking outside their house being led by their dog to the top of the Purple Hill mountains. We also purchased Vermont maple syrup produced on their property st their sugar house. It was a lovely stay.

    Riley2017-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • Couldn't recommend this spot more! We felt welcomed yet had privacy. Very family friendly as we had our 4 year old with us. The tree house was amazing! Truly impressive. The property itself is out of this world. Lots of exploring. We continued to be surprised by driving up to the top of their property to find a beautiful view. We would love to go back.

Come to ski or just enjoy the beauty of Vermont. Okemo, Magic, Stratton, Bromley, Killington and Pico are all close. The room is decorated with the furniture from our parents' London flat and had been repurposed for the guest bedroom in our farmhouse.
Your room is upstairs, very private, with gorgeous light from the skylight. It is sparkling clean and never used unless there are guests. Full bath is located downstairs. We have all the necessities for traveling with a small child including a high chair, 2 sizes of pack n' play cribs, some toys and books. Our house sits on 27 acres with a pond, on a quiet country road, perfect for enjoying the many seasons, fall foliage and long walks. Guests are welcome to enjoy all the outdoor space (deck, lawn, pond, fields, fire-pit and woods). The bed is Tempur-pedic Memory Foam. There are two comfy chairs for relaxing in your room.
The house is 10-15 minutes drive from the village of Ludlow, Okemo ski resort, and 20 minutes from Chester. Magic, Stratton, Bromley, and Killington ski areas are all within 30 minutes to 1 hour's drive. Beautiful panoramic views can been found all around.
  • The London space is beautiful and the hosts are great friendly people. There's plenty of plugs for any charging that need to be done.

  • Sean and Summer's hospitality was absolutely wonderful. I couldn't have asked for better hosts. The home is warm and inviting, with thoughtful touches in your space. I was grateful to be able to utilize the laundry, and appreciated the refreshments waiting for me in the room when I arrived. The sourdough pancakes, bacon, and tea in the morning were exactly what I needed to get me energized for my drive that morning. The home and property itself were incredibly charming. The ideal Vermont home with eco-friendly touches. I enjoyed photographing the property in the morning. Without a doubt, I would stay with Sean and Summer again.

    Danielle2017-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Sean and Summers are amazing hosts. They were very accommodating with our late arrival and staying up late, they gave us amazing tips for bars and restaurants and breakfast, and they were just plain fun to converse with in the short morning we had. The place is sparkling clean, with modern touches in a rustic setting, and their cat is very lovable. Everything was just plain great!

    Dan2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Sean & Summers were the best hosts! So helpful and friendly, they had a fun clean relaxing room! Had very clean room and bathroom. And if we were ever in the area again we would love to stay there! Very much so recommend them!

    Jacob2017-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Sean and Summer's were very hospitable, inviting us to spend time near their fire pit in the back and suggesting local areas to visit. It was a fun visit in the town of Ludlow and I would certainly go back in the wintertime while the local Okimo Mtn. Ski resort is open (It is close!). Beautiful, peaceful yard and the room is really neat as the furniture is all from London. Only downside was the record high heat index, but it seemed to cool down at night, which was nice. All in all, good choice!

    Sarah2017-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Sean and Summer's house is beautiful and welcoming! We really enjoyed our stay there, and especially loved the view of the beautiful trees when we woke up. They are very friendly and helpful if you have any questions about your stay or the surrounding areas. They do have one cat, but he stays out of the guest bedroom, which was great because my allergies didn't kick in at all! Their house seemed further away from the main roads than we had anticipated (especially after the sun's gone down), but it really isn't that far - just stick to gps and you will get there! We would definitely stay here again if we revisit the area.

  • This is a wonderful place, doesn't matter how long you're staying. Hugh and Nancy were incredibly helpful with setting everything up for our weekend at their place. A big snowfall made it difficult for us to arrive in time and to reach the top of the hill without 4-wheel-drive, but Hugh was very helpful and made our arrival possible with our own private 'shuttle service'. Thanks a lot again! The house offers all you need for a big group: lots of space, lovely rooms, many bathrooms and a big well-equipped kitchen to satisfy 12 hungry people after skiing. Great house, great area, beautiful mountaintop vistas and delicious maple syrup! Could not be better and we would love to come back! :)

  • [This review is also for "Beautiful Mountain Retreat".] Hugh and Nancy's place made for the PERFECT fourth of July experience. I can't recommend this place highly enough! The house (Hugh built it himself!) is spacious, clean, and beautiful. The kitchen was well-stocked and the grill was a breeze to use. Plenty of common areas inside and deck space outside. My group had nine people, so we also rented the adjoining two rooms ("Two beautiful bedrooms in Mountains"). The setting is convenient, yet secluded and absolutely gorgeous. (Don't miss out on the grazing sheep nearby!) If you're itching for a short hike (1 mile), the view from the top of their mountain is well worth the climb. The hosts were wonderfully welcoming, but also gave us plenty of space. We will definitely be coming back. And until then, we'll remember the weekend every time we eat some of Hugh and Nancy's homemade maple syrup on our pancakes!

  • Lovely location, with immaculate rooms, super comfortable beds and clean bathroom. Very quiet and peaceful.. and right in the heart of the mountain/forest. (be aware, cell phone coverage was minimal and spotty at times). Really appreciated the suggestions Nancy provided regarding nearby restaurants and places to visit. Also loved the locally made maple syrup. A plus!

  • We stayed to go skiing for a couple days at Okemo; only around a 15 minute drive to Ludlow, VT, on the way from Interstate 91. The road to the property is a bit steep, and a dirt road, so care should be taken, especially during inclement weather. The suite is very clean, and spacious, 2 large bedrooms, 2 large bathrooms, very well appointed and clean. A very cozy room to get away with a small group of friends or a family. Great views of the mountains from the suite. They also sold their own fantastic maple syrup right in the room! A wonderful stay, I would recommend it to anyone traveling into the southern mountains of Vermont.

The charming rustic cabin at the top of our meadow is available during the summer & autumn months. It has a cozy king size bed up in the loft, and a quaint outhouse nestled into the trees. There's no running water; it's brought in in jugs for drinking and dishwashing. Bathing is available in the main house. Enjoy the peace and glorious views: not a house in sight, only trees, sky, wildlife and wildflowers. Get away from it all in your own personal retreat location!
The space was once a hunting cabin, but now feels a little more like a cozy gypsy caravan. Situated at the top of a meadow with no other houses in sight, immersed in the peace and quiet of the Vermont countryside, and yet only a short hop from the I-91, Springfield and Chester. Beyond the cabin on both sides of the meadow lie our own 40 acres of woodland, which you are free to explore. Above the cabin, a network of trails gives you access to a much larger acreage, ideal for hiking, snow-shoeing, cross country skiing, bird-watching etc. There is a stone fire-ring just in front of the cabin for a warming camp fire in the evenings, with fireflies and the sound of distant coyotes in the woods on summer nights. NB. The cabin is not suitable for families with children, or for those with mobility constraints. This is a delightful location and a lovely cabin but will suit best the more adventurous guests.
Despite being only a short drive from the interstate, East View Farm is in a tranquil location with no traffic noise, headlights or streetlamps. There are no towns in sight and only birds and other wildlife for company. Fishing: It is a short drive to the Black River, the Connecticut River, and the Williams River for fly fishing or bass fishing and even the famous Battenkill River is within easy driving distance. Information on these rivers and fishing spots is available, and we can direct you to the nearest location to purchase your Vermont fishing license. Skiing/snowboarding: Within easy driving distance of the farm is the Okemo Mountain Resort, Magic Mountain Ski Area, Stratton Mountain Resort, and Grafton Ponds Cross Country Ski Area. Slightly further afield lie Kinllington, Bromley, the Suicide Six, and Pico Mountain ski areas. For those arriving by train or otherwise without vehicle access, a drop-off and pick-up car service can be arranged, subject to availability. Restaurants: Springfield offers excellent dining in a refined atmosphere at the Hartness House Inn, which also offers a lively evening of live music on Thursdays from Spring to Fall. The menu is frequently updated, and includes a plethora of delicious locally sourced fresh food. Tours of the fascinating telescope museum can also be arranged. Another tremendous local eatery is the Black Rock Steakhouse in Springfield. it offers standard restaurant fare, an excelent salad bar, and what is to us, a world class filet mignon that you can cook yourself on your own sizzling flat rock. A 'paleo' dream come true! The restaurant has a full bar, and is a lively, family-friendly haunt that is popular with visitors and locals alike. We have a guide available to assist you in your choice of many other local options for eating out.
  • This trip was the highlight of my summer! The cabin overlooks a meadow and mountainscape, and it had everything I needed (including a gas stove, several ways of lighting the space without electricity, and plenty of jugs of water). Aimee and Rich were the most generous hosts I've ever met; they even lent me their guitar, offered apples and pears from the land, and Rich showed me some really cool fire-building techniques and hung out by the fire. The stunning green mountains and kind people that Vermont is known for are exactly what you'll find here. Just check with me before you reserve the cabin, because I'm planning on going back soon and I get first dibs (okay, just kidding, but I'm definitely going back)! :)

  • This was the perfect weekend retreat. My husband and I were looking for a quiet little spot for some R&R in the woods. We were thrilled with our stay! The hosts were so welcoming and hospitable and provided us with everything that we needed. The cabin itself was so comfortable and has a greta personality. We spent most of our time out by the fire or hiking on the local trail networks and would not hesitate to go back in the future. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

    Julia2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Aimee and Rich were incredibly kind people and went out of their way to help us if needed. They are such interesting personalities and it was wonderful meeting them. The cabin is exactly as described and a nice getaway from the stress of a fast-paced life. The view was absolutely gorgeous and worth the early wake up just to see.

    Wilfred2017-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Aimee and Rich are excellent hosts and their space is idealistic for anyone looking to be off the grid! When we arrived, Rich showed us the lay of the land. We got a tour of the main house first and then grabbed our bags and took a small walk up to the cabin. Rich made sure we had everything we needed; he even offered us some delicious tomatoes from their garden. The cabin was well stocked with anything we could have needed for a cozy night in. The cabin is lit by oil lamps and a few LED lights throughout. We arrived close to sundown, but it would've been nice to get there earlier to get settled. We hope to visit again!

    Freddy2017-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • We loved this sweet, isolated little cabin so much that we decided to come back, and it certainly did not disappoint the second time! A GPS map of the (beautiful, extensive) trails behind the cabin and a guitar were very welcome additions, and we arrived to a cheerful campfire, lit in anticipation of our arrival. As before, Aimee and Rich were fantastic hosts, and we enjoyed chatting with them on arrival & departure. We'll surely be back many more times! Best weekend in a long time :-).

  • Aimee and Richard's cabin is a true gem. The cabin would be lovely on it's own, but these guys really are special. Their intention for the house and small farm to be a space of community and warm welcome is genuine and grounded. They've both done a lot of living out in the world and settled not too long ago in Vermont. They're creative, committed, idealistic *and* practical. They pay attention to details and they're lighthearted -- it's a lovely combination and they're natural hosts. Their little boy is also one of the happiest little humans we've ever met. We arrived on the late side (after dark), and Richard walked us up the trail road about the house to the hay fields with the cabin on top. He even lugged us up some extra propane just to make sure we had plenty for cooking. The cabin used to be a hunting spot and getaway. They've refinished the inside with reclaimed wood pieces painted in vibrant, cheerful colors. There's a a proper porch with a view of hills rolling down toward the Connecticut River valley and we could see above the mists in the morning -- it was gorgeous. The sleeping loft holds a generous king and in mid-October we were bedded down with extra blankets. It was chilly, but we were toasty. The fire ring outside is made of stone and looks like it's been settled in their a long time. We sat out under the moon eating our dinner and warming our feet. It was incredibly peaceful. The cabin is perfect for cooler summer days and the warm days / chilly nights of autumn. There's a single window up in the loft -- if temps were over 80, I'd imagine it might get a bit too warm. If the wood stove gets fixed up, we'd totally come here through winter. There are woods up and behind the cabin for snowshoeing and hiking. Otherwise, in winter we're totally coming back to stay in the toasty b and b room upstairs!

  • East View Farm is more an experience than a place to stay. Aimee and Richard are not just hosts, but guides. We arrived past dark, and Richard welcomed us with a cream sherry and cellared wine in the study. Classical music was playing, and he described the cabin, his lifestyle, the property, the town, etc. He explained his filing system for their home library and welcomed us to borrow anything we liked. We left the main house and he led us up a path through a wooded lot that let out to a wide clearing under the moonlight. About ten minutes, and we were there. The cabin is very simple, and will bring the best out of your ingenuity. You have to reduce your extravagance and focus on what matters. We cooked our food on the fire, which Richard expertly started for us, and it was delicious. The faint lighting helped us get in tune with our circadian rhythms and we slept like happy rocks in the loft bed atop the ladder. In the morning, we were able to properly survey the cabin, which was well appointed with useful and tasteful accouterments. For those who went to summer camp as kids, the cabin will evoke a fond sense of nostalgia. The woods about the property were very serene, and we were lucky to have seen the foliage at its peak. I felt markedly calmer and kinder after my visit, and would recommend the place to anyone who would enjoy a peaceful, introspective weekend in a picture perfect Vermont setting. 11/10, would again.

  • At first we were hesitant about booking a cabin with no electricity but we were surprised that it makes the experience so much better! Aimee and Rich were such thoughtful and warm hosts from the minute we arrived to the minute we left. The cabin is a perfectly secluded getaway from the busy city life or a quick (but needed) trip into nature! Anything you need they will supply. The hosts are thoughtful enough to give you a tour of their beautiful historic house and the amenities that are open to the guests such as Aimee’s beautiful yoga studio. We will definitely be staying here again!

The vintage barn studio offers an open living plan with Queen bed, fully equipped gourmet kitchen and a cozy seating area w/ fireplace. Once an artist's studio, it is has been painstakingly renovated with a "reduce, reuse, recycle" philosophy.
This converted artist studio is adorned with beautiful antique wide planks everywhere and offers a vaulted ceiling. Our efforts to reduce, reuse and recycle is reflected in reclaimed fittings and furnishings all over the studio. The combination of old materials, local crafting and modern industrial design has resulted in a comfortable and contemporary space that is simply beautiful. Everyone loves it; we welcome you to experience it. A new kitchen comes complete with high end built in appliances, all cookware and most basic ingredients to make your arrival comfortable. You will find a selection of teas, coffee, maple syrup, spices, condiments, etc etc. There is a queen bed in the studio. We prefer renting this space to max two plus a small child with inflatable mattress (we have a twin one). The dining table can seat four. The bar counter has three seats. The sitting area has two comfy armchairs beside the electric fireplace. There is a widow A/C from June through October. The bathroom is small but new, clean and functional, with a nice rain shower and wall mounted hair dryer. The studio has a 47' LCD TV with bluray player and streaming Netflix and Hulu. No Cable. There is a nice vintage audio system and lots of CDs, Alexa and ability for you to connect your iphone to the stereo. Look closely and you will find that most of the furniture is designed from the barn's old window shutters and antique wide plank heart pine found in the attic from 1840's. The kitchen counters are hand crafted from extinct american chestnut and antique oak, sourced from a local 1790's barn.
We welcome you to enjoy the Grafton community. You will be hard pressed to find a more authentic Vermont village experience; where time appears to remain standstill, history is alive around every corner and where man's creation and nature's beauty are in perfect harmony. The village is home to some of the most beautiful examples of early New England architecture, and the entire village center (including our house) is in the National Register of Historic Places. Named one of the 10 most beautiful places in America consistently by USA Today and one of 1000 Places To See Before You Die by leading Travel Guides - as also one of the prettiest hamlets in VT. There is plenty to do and see if you ever feel like leaving the picturesque charm of Grafton to begin with. Grafton Ponds - world class cross country ski. Swim in village pond or play tennis in the village courts Ski - Okemo, Bromley, Magic Mountains all within 30 minutes. Limitless opportunity for hiking nearby hills. Bike on beautiful unpaved country roads starting at your doorstep. The views are spectacular. Hike out of the house into the state forest where you will not see anyone else, a great 2 hour plus hike, also great for a quiet picnic near the beaver ponds. We also ride our mountain bike inside this forest. Antiquing - Grafton, Chester, Bellows Falls, Springfield and other surrounding towns are filled with excellent local antique stores Shopping - Manchester outlet mall is 45 minutes out.
  • This was our first small New England town get-away. Grafton was like another world, familiar only in a small way via Gilmore Girls! We even stumbled into the historical society's annual meeting at the pub. Sonali's place is fantastic. Nicely renovated with a lot of charm.

    Jim2017-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful, quiet getaway! The barn was lovely and had everything we needed. Sonali was very responsive.

    Laura2017-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We visited Grafton for a weekend to attend a family wedding. Sonali was incredibly responsive and flexible when we had a change to our plans. Directions, instructions, check-in was all a breeze. Sonali was sweet enough to ask the housekeeper to leave the outside light on for us and leave a few essentials in the fridge. The barn studio was exactly what we needed: a short stroll to the inn and shops, quiet, bright, and clean. Orange is my favorite color, so I loved the orange accents throughout the space - especially the bathroom tile! Because we spent a lot of time with family in the village, we didn't use the kitchen or dining area much but we did appreciate the electric fireplace and living room area. The entire space was well equipped and laid out. We will definitely return!

    Jason2017-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely, well appointed, comfortable apartment just as described! The area is beautiful and we enjoyed snowshoeing at the village pond! Dinner at the pub at the inn was delicious. Host was communicative, easy to reach, and we would definitely stay again!

    lisa2017-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • Sonali was a great host. She called us before our trip to make sure we were all set, along with sending us directions and a house manual. The apartment was clean, well decorated, and very inviting. The kitchen is large and fully stocked with all spices and pans necessary. The town of Grafton is very charming and would love to visit again.

    Christopher2016-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great style, location, and super clean. Had everything fully stocked for a comfortable stay!

    Kathy2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay here to ring in the new year over a snowy weekend. I don't know how it was possible, but the space was always very warm and cozy (almost seemed like it should have been drafty, but not at all). Very comfortable and pretty much exactly as shown and described. A pub and restaurant are easily walkable if you need to socialize. So is the market with the best cinnamon buns I've ever had. Entire town is quite, picturesque, and super friendly. We took day trips around and could find a place to shop for anything we may have needed. Cooked our own dinner two nights and the great kitchen made that a joy. Supremely quiet, friendly and remote lodging with a lot of style and comfort.

    John2017-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • I had a lovely stay in Sonali and Ash's barn apartment next to their main home. It was a wonderful visit. The apartment was clean and well-stocked. It was obvious that a lot of time and effort love had gone into the design of the apartment. Sonali and Ash were wonderful hosts, ensuring that I had a relaxing stay. They even brought me blueberries, potatoes, and beans from their garden! Grafton is a small, beautiful town with excellent restaurants. I definitely hope to return in the not-too-distant future.

  • Susan's cabin is an amazing place to escape to. Our hosts were very welcoming and allowed us to enjoy the cabin as if it were our own. The location and surroundings are simply stunning. All amenities were catered for within the cabin, and it was pristine clean and cosy inside. Our only regret is that we didn't stay for longer.

  • After needing to cancel our Honeymoon planned in the Caribbean, we decided to take a drive to Vermont for the fall foliage. This cabin was perfect for it. We enjoyed our stay so much! Everything was perfect as described. The house was very clean all throughout. The outdoor space was so peaceful and our dog couldn't get enough of it! Carmen was so nice meeting us when we first got there to show us around, even gave us a bottle of wine for our Honeymoon and dropped by with some veggies from their garden. We were so comfortable and really enjoyed driving around the area. I would recommend anyone staying here, we hope to again one day!

    Aimee2016-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Sunrise Cabin! My husband and I were looking for a VT getaway that was secluded in nature and had plenty of outdoor space for our dog to run around, and this place was perfect! The property is quiet and secluded, but still only ~10 mins from the closest town in case you need supplies or want to go to a restaurant (we went to Alice's in Chester one night - the food was great!). There were also a lot of great hiking options nearby. The house has everything you would need, including plenty of supplies for cooking. The mountain views from the deck are amazing and we enjoyed our meals out there watching the sunsets. Susan and Carmen were very helpful and easy to communicate with. They recommended a local firework show at Magic Mountain that we otherwise wouldn't have known about - it was such a great show! We would definitely come back and recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet and scenic VT getaway for a very reasonable price!

  • The sunrise cabin is a very comfortable home that is truly full equipped. It is located on a beautiful place with lots of privacy and incredible views. Many possibilities for hiking and a golf course as a neighbor. Susan and Carmen are amazing people who do everything to make your stay perfect. Highly recommended!

  • We had a blast at Magic Mountain and on the VAST trail. Friendly host, everything was really easy. Can't wait to come back!

    Brian2016-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • Sunrise Cabin was GREAT! Susan and Carmen were awesome and helpful and the cabin was wonderful. The location was remote enough to feel peaceful and tranquil, but was also close to great hikes, places to eat, and other fun activities. Would absolutely stay here again.

    Noah2016-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • The Sunrise Cabin was a terrific cabin and worked out perfectly for our annual ski trip. Myself and 3 of my buddies from high school take an annual trip to VT to get some skiing in without the kids and the wives and we needed a place close enough to the mountains to get out early and hit the slopes without too much driving. The cabin is situated about 30 minutes from Okemo and 1 hour from Killington. We didn't use the kitchen for anything other than making coffee but it was well appointed. The heat is propane and also includes a wood stove. The bedrooms were comfortable and clean. Most of all the views were incredible. I would definitely stay here again. A few things to keep in mind with this cabin... you will have a very difficult time making it up the dirt road without AWD at a minimum. During our time there VT had very little snow and even under those conditions the road wasn't easy. Second I would bring water along for drinking. The water had a strong taste. Finally the upstairs bedrooms don't have there own heating systems and they utilize the heat from the first floor so you need to keep the bedroom doors open at night to really capture the heat.

This beautiful circa 1850 farmhouse is nestled between two rivers. While it feels secluded, it is located right in Grafton Village and only a two minute walk from the tavern. Relax on the front porch with a glass of wine or on the back screened-in porch that looks over the river. The large master bedroom boasts a king-sized tempur-pedic bed and a view of the river. The house is very family friendly with a full crib in the master bedroom along with another twin bed that has removable bumpers. Upstairs there is a bedroom with a full size bed and two twins along with a second bedroom with two twin beds. The kitchen is a small galley kitchen but has everything you need. There is an attached barn that has been set up as a large family room that has a roaring fire place, couch, large television and a bar. There is a bonus bedroom and full bathroom in the upstairs of the barn. You are welcome to use this room, but is not included in the bedroom count since it is more rustic. Please note that from November 1st to April 1st, the barn bathroom will be winterized. The only heat in the barn is the wood stove and fireplace. Sliding doors open up to the fenced-in back yard that leads to a wide sweeping river. This property is so peaceful and serene, it is like a retreat. You will leave feeling completely refreshed reinvigorated.
Grafton is such a special place to us. We were married here in 2010 and now bring our two children here as often as we can. We created a list of attractions and activities for all ages in a book at the house but we would be happy to email it to you in advance so you can plan your time here. Grafton Village is one of the most idyllic places in New England. The historic Old Tavern is in the center, which has fancy dining in the main lodge, but also pub fare in the adjoining Phelps Barn. There is live music most weekends. The Grafton Village cheese shop has free cheese tastings, a great wine selection, and crafts from local artists. Attached is MKT, which makes great sandwiches or an easy breakfast. The town will give you a walking map and there is a nice trail that leads through the old historic homes, general store, blacksmith shop, town garden, sheep barn and town pond. Just a short walk down the road, you will pass a sheep meadow and then come to a covered bridge which leads to the Grafton Cheese Factory, where Vermont's best cheese is made.
  • Grafton is a quintessentially beautiful Vermont town, and this historic house allows you to feel a part of it. It is no more than a five minute walk to the center of the town. At the same time, to our great delight, it is situated between two lovely streams that you can see and hear from all the rooms as well as from verandas and patios.

    Katie2016-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at the Ephraim Bruce House in Grafton. It served our needs perfectly for a family ski getaway. The 2-1/2 bathrooms certainly were a bonus. And the barn space was a fabulous gathering spot for one of our evenings when we cranked up the wood stove and fireplace. We think you have a treasure of a property in an absolutely beautiful village.

  • My family (2 adults and 2 children) thoroughly enjoyed the week we spent at Laurence's place in beautiful Grafton, Vermont. The house is lovely and well located within easy walking distance of the center of town. We especially enjoyed the converted barn attached to the house for hanging out in the evenings. This is truly a great place to stay in any season.

  • We LOVE the Grafton area and the Holyoak's home is the perfect launching point to explore it. The Ephraim Bruce House is cozy and beautifully decorated, exactly what we were looking for on our weekend away with friends. Once the fireplace got going, the barn space was our spot of choice, perfect for games and visiting.
