  • The Cabin is a gorgeous little thing, it has all the amenities you'd need whilst keeping it simple. I loved the fact that there was a lot of eco things like an eco toilet, recycling bins outside and even the ecover washing up liquid which shows they are considering the environment - even better! Everything was simple and laid out, there were instructions should you need any help with anything and the host's were very helpful and friendly. Also the cabin was so clean! Overall a really nice trip to Totnes and a good stay at the Cabin - recommended! Thanks!

  • We were made to feel very welcome by Pete on our arrival. The cabin itself was incredibly clean, homely with great character and very spacious for the two of us. The cabins locality was fantastic a stones throw to the river dart, the South Devon Railaway and a short walk to Totnes. We would love to stay again in the future.

  • We had such a wonderful stay in Georgi and Pete's cabin! The cabin is absolutely beautiful, inside and out! The cabin is at the bottom of their garden which you access through a side gate, so you don't have to traipse through their house, and its lovely and private. Inside there are 2 mezzanines with a double bed on each, a well equipped kitchenette, great shower room and open living room. It is all finished to a very high standard and decorated tastefully in a shabbychic/retro way...gorgeous! Georgi was so helpful before we arrived, giving instructions on where to park (right outside on street) and she had left us a cream tea for when we arrived! The location is great too. 2 minute walk to the river dart..great for a cooling dip! And totnes is a 10 minute walk. We absolutely loved staying in the cabin and will definitely be back!

    Elle2016-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • A cosy eco cabin almost next to the beautiful river Dart and near wonderful South Hams countryside. The cabin is very neatly designed and thoughtfully furnished. We received a warm welcome from Georgi, with helpful advice on using the cabin, river access and walking intotown, and then left in peace to settle in and enjoy our stay.

  • Georgi and Pete were excellent hosts, we had a really great stay at their cabin. Highly recommended!

  • The wooden cottage next to river Dart worked perfectly for us. 15 min walk away to Totnes or Cott Inn, on the edge of Dartington estate. Its warm and cozy, eco friendly, it provided us with all we needed and more. Nothing beats the fresh scones with clotted cream and jam after a 3h drive. Highly recommend. Thanks ever so much.

    Brigita 2017-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • We LOVED The Cabin! Fabulously designed, great location - lovely walk along the river into Totnes. And the scones waiting for us after a 6.5 hour journey were delightful. Thank you! xxx

Gybbes Lodge is part of a 600 year old Manor House set in the heart of the Devon countryside. It is a converted old stone barn which forms one side of an ancient courtyard. It has character and charm in abundance combined with modern comforts.
Furnished with antiques and full of character, Gybbes Lodge is a wonderfully spacious and peaceful home. Children however are very welcome as we have two of our own. It is set in the heart of the countryside but is close to the village of Dartington and the charming ancient town of Totnes on the river Dart. We are surrounded by the most beautiful countryside. Dartmoor is ten minutes drive away and there are numerous lovely beaches nearby - beaches which are perfect for children or, if you like walking, the stunning South West coastal path will lead you to hidden gems. The South West of England is full of places of historical interest - ruined castles and stately homes - or if you prefer a lunch in an old country pub we have lots of those! The River Dart, which is nearby, meanders through the countryside to the sea. If you want to explore it, you can visit quiet villages, take a boat trip or a steam train or just potter around the beautiful coastal town of Dartmouth with great shops and restaurants. There are so many delicious places to eat round here. We have fantastic farm shops selling local produce of all sorts, great cafes in Totnes selling everything from cream teas to vegetarian delights. We also have great fish restaurants nearby as we are so close to the sea.
We love this part of Devon for its wonderful beaches and stunning scenery, for its rich history and its great local food.
  • Great place, exactly as described. Perfect fit kids and multi generational family stays. Great base for exploring the delights of Devon!

    Jonathan2016-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Wow. I can’t even express how amazing this place is! We were just blown away. Absolutely beautiful barn conversion, tastefully furnished, roomy… just gorgeous! We enjoyed reading about the history of the property and there was useful information on the local area, dining, trips out etc. Located in the countryside, but not too far from beaches, pubs, Dartington Hall – this was a great base for exploring or just tucking up inside. Teresa was warm, welcoming and relaxed – available when necessary but giving us plenty of space as well. I cannot recommend Teresa or her lodge enough – thanks Teresa for a wonderful weekend, we will be back!

  • Lovely old place with mod cons. It felt like a treat to stay here. Bring some bubble bath to enjoy the big tub!

    Ali2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place to stay. Lots of useful bits to use and easy to get to. We have a great time - great layout for a sociable family holiday.

  • Just the most beautiful manor in the most beautiful place. The photos didn’t do it justice, highly recommend! xxx

  • Our host Teresa was extremely welcoming and friendly. She was great at providing directions and made some excellent restaurant suggestions. (The food at the Cott Inn was delicious!) The House itself was beautifully presented and extremely spacious. It's located just a short drive to some lovely local shops and you can pretty much drive anywhere (beach/country walks/cycles)

    Cerys2016-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely house, which easily accommodated 6 of us. Very helpful hosting with clear directions. A great weekend was had by all.

  • We had an amazing weekend in this beautiful converted barn. It was perfect for a reunion of old friends with a lovely communal kitchen and lounge for relaxing evenings around the wood burning fire. The rooms are really comfortable, spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. Teresa is a delightful host and really helpful. Lots to do in the area. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

This light and spacious apartment, with wi-fi, wood stove and off-road parking is the perfect base to relax and explore Dartmoor and South Devon. Great location for walking on the moor or coast path and for river swimming or beaches.
This spacious ground floor apartment in The Old Vicarage, Buckfastleigh offers a perfect base to explore Dartmoor, the River Dart, the South Hams and the beautiful coast of South Devon. The flat consists of a shared entrance hall leading into a large, sunny living room overlooking the garden, with TV and wood burning stove. A big, bright, well-equipped kitchen / dining room. A double bedroom (off the kitchen) and a cozy single bedroom (off the living room.) A travel cot is also available for smaller children. The bedrooms are not next to each other so it's useful to bring a baby monitor if you have young children. The bathroom is up stairs, above the single bedroom. There is a second WC in the entrance hall. Central heating, TV, dishwasher, wi-fi & off-road parking.
The location provides a great base for walkers, with wonderful trails on Dartmoor starting nearby (10-20 mins by car). It is best to have a car to see the area, but drop-offs and pick-ups at the start and end of the day are sometimes possible by prior arrangement, as well as transfers from the airport if you don’t have transport. Within walking distance: Buckfast Abbey, Butterfly & Otter Sanctuary, Steam Railway to Totnes. It’s a short drive to Ashburton (Ashburton Cookery School), Riverford Farm & Field Kitchen and Dartington Hall. Totnes is 7 miles away. Dartmouth, Salcombe and Kingsbridge are all about 20 miles and there are lots of beaches / coast walks / towns / restaurants and pubs within 25-40 mins drive, see OS Explorer Maps OL20 &OL28
  • This place is great - you instantly feel relaxed and at one with the scenery due to the MASSIVE stunning windows and high ceilings... beautiful architecture. Piers couldn't be more helpful and accommodating. It as a great welcome. The moors are on your doorstep and going for a run was a highlight... as are the fish and chips in the village!

    Rachael2016-03-29T00:00:00Z
  • Home had everything that we needed and Piers was very welcoming. Good location to a variety of interesting areas and Buckfast Abbey + Dartington Hall gardens is a must see.

    Thomas2017-05-18T00:00:00Z
  • The home was great base for my partner and I to set off and spend the days exploring the Dartmoor countryside. Our host was very welcoming and made extra effort to give us information about things to see and do. The home had all the necessary components and suited our needs perfectly. Thanks!

    J2017-04-09T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was wonderful. Piers and Marlene beautiful people and exceptional hosts.

    Nina2018-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time staying here - the flat is lovely and sunny and comfortable with everything you need to enjoy yourself in fantastic surroundings. Piers and Marlene made us feel really welcome and we would definately love to stay here again. Our hosts gave us some fantastic tips for great beaches and our 5 year old daughter has a great time hanging out in the lovely garden. The local open air swimming pool is really good fun and there is a nice local park next to it which our daughter had a great time on. Oh and a great fish and chip shop too. Highly reccomend this place with fantastically friendly and helpful hosts in Piers and Marlene who will help you get the most out of this stunningly beautiful part of the world.

    Mark2015-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is what airbnb is all about – A friendly and helpful host who makes you feel right at home. Piers went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed, including loads of useful recommendations for places to walk and eat in the surrounding area. On top of that, the apartment is really spacious, charming, comfortable, quiet and located perfectly for exploring Dartmoor and South Devon. I cannot recommend it any more highly.

    Kyle2016-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • We just had the pleasure of staying in the Old Vicarage. Everything was just as shown in the pictures --a lovely home and spotlessly clean. The beds were very cozy as well. Piers and Marleen were very welcoming, even having fresh flowers and a fire ready for us when we arrived. The split bedroom layout worked out perfectly for us as we could put our children to bed (one in the twin bed pictured and another in a cot they arranged for us) and then still have an evening to ourselves. The location works well to explore Dartmoor and nearby farms and even the coastal areas of Dartmouth, Blackpool Sands, etc. Piers and Marleen were very helpful with local food recommendations and any other advice we needed. The weather may not have cooperated for our visit, but Piers' and Marleen's hospitality more than made up for it.

    Scott & Elise2015-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • Piers (along with Marlene, when we arrived!) was a lovely host. He has lots of local knowledge from living in the area for so long so can give you lots of pointers for things to do and places to visit/eat. The apartment is a really well kept and very clean, self contained, part of the larger house and has very spacious kitchen/diner (with loads I equipment and plates/glasses etc.) and main sitting room with a great wood-burning stove which creates a great cosy atmosphere. The main bedroom is equally clean and well presented with a comfy double bed, the bathroom had plenty of hot water and a nice shower over the bath..., also really well looked after and cleaned for our arrival! The setting is really peaceful with great views out to countryside and hills and you can wake to cuckoos in the trees and not a lot more in terms of noise. My girlfriend and I would stay again as we felt very welcome, so many thanks to Piers and Marlene.

A luxurious, rustic haven away from it all. The luxury bits: Fluffy towels, organic bedding, robes & toiletries, woodburner, a good book, no street lights...You'll probably sleep better than you have in years. And for a charge to cover the electricity, (£7ph), you can sauna under the stars. The rustic bits: There's a simple compost toilet, hot water in a generous sink, but no shower yet (we're planning a lovely one for next year...).
Our guests often say their stay in the cabin felt like a little pause from the real world. A moment to recharge. We've left it as simple as we can, without foregoing any of the little things that make relaxing time out peaceful and happy. The kitchen is properly equipped, including a fridge and little Belling oven, there's fresh ground coffee, tea, herbs teas, sugar, and a selection of board games, books, and off-the-beaten-track magazines. But our wifi doesn't reach the cabin, and we've not made any attempts to change that. If you do need access to the internet, you are welcome to pop into our house and connect to our network, but we also suspect that you'll be quite glad of the excuse to ignore your emails for a brief moment.
Landscove is a pretty and highly sought-after village in the South Hams. A village hall, tiny pub, primary school and church are about the only things that interrupt the organically-farmed fields and Devon lanes, and with no street lights in the area the nights are blissful, and the stars shine bright.
  • Wow - what a find, we were so lucky to come across this chalet in such a beautiful part of sunny Devon. The chalet itself is stunningly designed but actually surprisingly functional with a little kitchen where you can cook/grill/fry away to your hearts content (though I'd thoroughly recommend the 30 minute walk across fields to Riverford Farm Kitchen - absolutely stunning food). We had an amazing time and really appreciated how well located the chalet is with both Dartmoor National Park and the beautiful beaches and seaside towns of South Devon on your doorstep. Hosts were lovely but completely happy to let us get on with it - even leaving us eggs from their hens for breakfast. Wouldn't hesitate to go back and would recommend to anyone.

  • Nice cabin in a secluded location, ideal for relaxing and getting away from it all. Andrea was very friendly and accommodating.

    Linda2017-09-29T00:00:00Z

  • Thanks for the time in your lovely cabin.....

    silvia2016-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • We booked last minute and Andrea made us feel very welcome immediately. The cabin exceeded our expectations and we would have loved to stay longer!

    Cora2016-11-16T00:00:00Z
  • Andrea, is a great host and we were made to feel really welcome. It's a lovely lovely spot. It was a bleak moonless evening when we arrived and Landscaove does not have any street lighting so it was a little hard to find the Andrea's house in the dark, we had intended to arrive in daylight but we were running late so do aim to arrive in daylight. It only made for a more stunning view the next morning.

This is my lovely cottage four miles from Totnes and close to the A38. The cottage has a lovely double bedroom upstairs and smaller room upstairs. The living room is lovely and cosy, with a lovely fireplace and woodburning stove and a space for a fifth person to sleep. There's now a corner settee, not in the picture. (Also please note, the living room, bedrooms and kitchen have been painted since the original photos, so they look a bit different.)
We have a very friendly and welcoming home and I love getting it ready for guests to enjoy. I've recently redecorated the living room and it's a lovely space to unwind and relax in. Your welcome to light the stove and get comfortable. There is no TV but there is wifi. The kitchen is very well equipped and a great space to prepare and enjoy food in. It overlooks my small enclosed garden, where you can light a little fire or have a BBQ in the fire bowl. There's parking space for your car and I am happy to host well cared for dogs and possibly other animals, please ask. Send me a message if you've got any questions about the house or the area, I love to help.
South Hams is a wonderful area, beaches nearby, the lovely market town of Totnes with its vibrant Friday and Saturday markets, Riverford Farm Shop and Field Restaurant. Dartmoor is a short drive away.
  • Lovely house, great host. Excellent pre arrival instructions and advice. Highly recommended!

    Niall2015-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • Very well equiped, a very kind host, helpful neighbours and indeed a cozy house. On the other hand: Nothing for people who are sensitive to noise -the cottage is situated directly on a street to Plymouth.

    Micha2015-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Raminder's home made a perfect 2 night stop off on our journey to Cornwall. It was ideally positioned just minutes from the A38 and was a great base for exploring the area - in particular Dartmouth which we loved. The house had a large, bright kitchen/diner where we spent most of our time and the whole place had a welcoming, relaxing and cosy feel to it. Towels with tiny scented soaps were a lovely touch. Raminder's prompt responses to any emails made the whole booking process straight forward and she was very helpful about recommending restaurants in the local area. A lovely first experience with Airbnb.

    Fay2015-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • The house was clean and tidy, the bed comfortable and the shower worked well. Once we deciphered the code for the wifi connection the Internet connection was good. Raminder was friendly and welcoming.

    Melissa2015-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the house, it was spacious but cosy at the same time. The location was great to explore the dartmoor. Would highly recommend.

    Debi2018-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Raminder's cottage for a night while we went to a friends wedding nearby. Although we didn't meet Raminder ourselves, correspondence with Raminder was prompt and very friendly, she gave us good directions to find the house. The house itself is comfortable and homely, with lots of books. Our bed in the front room was very comfortable too!

    Lucy2015-04-05T00:00:00Z
  • Very Welcome!!! Lovely cottage and made to feel very welcome. Everything was clean and tidy. The kitchen had everything you would need and would definitely stay there again!!

    James2015-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • The house is thoughtfully equipped and exactly as described but what the listing doesn't fully convey is the thoughtfulness of the host. A great base for exploring the beauty of Devon with stunning beaches, great local food and the wilderness of Dartmoor all within reach.

You're welcome to join us for organic breakfast (free) or to help yourself to organic muesli & rice milk. Room can be rented in addition to the yoga studio space, or on it's own.
Non toxic organic pet free household, we use natural cleaning detergents for bedding. Garden shed can be used to store your bike if needed.
Settled on the edge of Dartmoor this quiet pretty town has great access to woods, rivers, dartmoor walks and nearby beaches. All 15-30 min. drive away, or on foot explore the nearby rivers, woods and far-reaching views. Buckfastleigh has a Butterfly and Otter sanctuary, Steam train - ride to Totnes along the river, Buckfast Abbey and ancient caves with prehistoric fossils, and a great rock climbing wall (Dart Rock). With health food shop and co-op around the corner from the house, cafes, pubs and a few restaurants (Italian and Chinese) it's easy to find all you need.
  • A clean and inviting home in beautiful surroundings with a wonderful host that makes you feel relaxed and welcome as soon as you enter. Really enjoyed my 1st Yoga experience (not sure why it has taken me over 40 years), perfect remedy to the stresses of work.

  • I received such a warm welcome from Shoshana and her family. I felt blessed to have been under their roof, such wonderful people with great interest in life and the people who share their space. They have a lovely rustic Yoga studio which is for hire too, it is recommended for those seeking a little hide away. I requested prior to booking, gluten free cereal and dairy free alternative milk and there it was! I was in heaven! :) So, for a traveller who seeks the artistic, alternative and is interested in different cultures, holistic therapies; this is a great place to be. Thank you Shoshana for providing me with the little touches that made my stay memorable.

    Gabby2016-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Although Shoshana wasn't in the house whilst I stayed, I felt both welcome and comfortable. It was a beautiful home that had everything I needed. It was disappointing not to meet her, maybe a future visit will allow that to happen. I'd highly recommend both the town of Buckfastleigh and Shoshana stunning home. Perfect.

The last house in the hamlet with only fields beyond and very quiet. Redecorated with new carpet Jan 2018, tastefully furnished with private outdoor seating area & BBQ. We are also walking distance from the Steiner School, Shumacher College, Dartington Hall, village shop & The Cott Inn. Totnes is less than 2 miles away along a river path. Fantastic walks (or runs) from the door.
This apartment is part of the last house in the village with only fields beyond and is very quiet. The loudest sound is usually the whistle from the local steam railway over a mile away. However BT Infinity fast broadband has just arrived & there's pretty good mobile reception (for Devon) so you won't be completely cut off! The apartment is completely self-contained with its own entrance and has a good-sized bright bedroom/studio with a table and chairs, a small kitchen area (with sink, fridge, kettle, toaster, tea and coffee making and a gas cooker with hob and oven), a bathroom (with bath and thermostatically controlled shower) and an entrance hall area with space to hang coats. The room is tastefully furnished with a stone Minster working fireplace, an Art deco desk, Ercol quaker chairs and original oil paintings and etchings. There is also a large 30in LCD TV with DVD player (photo not updated yet) and a Sony clock/radio/ipod player. During the winter firewood is supplied for the open fire. There is also a very sunny, private outside seating area with a table, two chairs and a small BBQ overlooking the front garden. There's plenty of wild life! We regularly see deer and rare Green Woodpeckers as well as all the more common birds. You can park your car right outside the apartment. The 5ft ziplink double bed splits into two singles if required ( photo not yet updated) We can provide a camp-bed for a 3rd person (or child) for a small additional cost. However due to the limited space we don't recommend this for stays of longer than 3 nights maximum. The kitchen is small so if you want to cook 3 course dinners every night it's probably not for you.
Where else can you reach the sea in around half an hour or be up on the wilds of Dartmoor in even less time. But there are also fantastic walks from the door. One of the best wild swimming spots in the UK (in the Guardian's top 10) is less than a mile from the house. The medieval market town of Totnes is also less than 10 minutes drive with its many wonderful shops, cafes and restaurants.
  • The host sent a very detailed and clear PDF document about the property, its whereabouts and local amenities. The flat was easy to find and was representative of the photos online, with a spacious bedroom / living room and bathroom, although the kitchen was quite small. The flat was tidy and on the whole fairly clean, although slightly dusty in places. It's location is excellent, near some lovely pubs and great countryside /moor walks. Unfortunately, we did not meet the host in person but he was contactable and accommodating. We had a lovely stay.

    Marianne2015-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Ben was very friendly and accommodating to all our needs (my Mum is lactose intolerant and he very kindly bought her soy milk for the duration of our stay). He gave us some good tips for places to eat out and also where to visit during our stay. The place itself was beautifully set out and had a very homly feel to it. Would definitely recommend!

  • A very nice small apartment in a quiet and pittoresque place near Dartington. The facility met all our expectations. Ben met us when we arrived, and told us that we could contact him any time we needed. Then we were let alone, which we appreciated. All in all a very pleasant stay.

  • My Husband and I really enjoyed our stay here. The area is simply beautiful and the room was a perfect size for us. Great for making breakfast and a light lunch for the day. The room is very homely and inviting. There is some really nice pubs in the area along with surrounding villages to make you feel comfortably close to amenities and still in a quiet and rural environment. Overall a really wonderful place and I would recommend to anyone wanting to stay in the area. Thanks Ben for a great holiday!

    Jessica2014-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • It is a great location to explore Darlington and Totnes. We really appreciated that they would take our little dog, and we had a very pleasant stay.

    Kate2016-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely self-contained annex in a very rural setting. Bed is extremely comfy! Kitchen is tiny but manageable. Lovely location very close to Dartington / Totnes, we had a brilliant holiday. Only thing I'd say is that if you aren't keen on spiders then perhaps this isn't the place for you - as it's so rural there are many (some very large) spiders around!

    Claire2015-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cosy little studio apartment in a very pretty village. Great location - could walk to Staverton (for the South Devon Steam Train to Buckfastleigh), and to Dartington Hall and Totnes quite easily. It was very clean and tidy and Ben was helpful - his pdf guide to all the local pubs and restaurants was very helpful.

Unique hay loft/coach house with fascinating Sherlock Holmes history as at one time owned by Harry Baskerville. Fully equipped kitchen with little balcony leading to open plan vaulted living space. Large ground floor bedroom with kingsize bed. Shower room.
The Hay Loft has been tastefully modernised and is fully equipped to make your stay relaxing and enjoyable. The property sleeps 2 comfortably although a z-bed, cot or child's bed can also be put up if required. The Coach House dates back to 1835 and originally housed horses & a coach on the ground floor and a hayloft on the first floor. The coachman Henry (known as Harry) Baskerville lived there from 1932 until he died in 1962 aged 91. He was the coach driver that drove Conan Doyle around Dartmoor while researching the developing story for The Hound of the Baskervilles with his friend Bertram Fletcher Robinson of Ipplepen. According to an Ashburton resident who nursed Baskerville in his old age she was shown a first edition of The Hound of the Baskervilles by his daughters with a note on the inside cover saying 'with apologies for using the name... ' The main house that sleeps 6 can also be holiday let through airbnb.
The Hay Loft is in the foothills of the Dartmoor National Park. The property is within 10 minutes of the open moor and within 45 minutes of the coast. There is plenty to see and do both in Ashburton itself, closeby and further afield.
  • Wendy and Chris were so nice and extremely accommodating. We arrived a couple of hours late (about 10pm) but we were still greeted with a big smile! The house itself is beautiful and romantic, and very nicely finished. It really is as big as itnlooks in the photos. We had a fabulous few days out on the moors and cant wait to return! Thanks so much!

  • A lovely apartment to stay in. Modern clean interior and has all facilities needed. Wendy was a lovely host and very approachable. We took our 10 month old and there was plenty of room for the cot in the bedroom. Ashburton is a great location for exploring south Devon.

    Sophie2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay in Ashburton. The Hayloft was well located for the great bakers and other food shops and within an easy walk of the cookery school. Wendy & Chris responded quickly and Chris was full of tips about the surrounding area when we checked in.

    Amy2018-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • In the beautiful ancient sanctuary of Ashburton we have met Wendy, a wonderful host and stayed at her Coach House. It has been magical, just the right ingredients to end up our little trip. Wendy is an amazing host, a truly passionate one, by her honesty makes you feel so welcome. Many thanks for that and for your beautiful, cosy "sanctuary" , we felt so nice. Such a pity we couldn't stay more!

    Laurentiu Nicolae2016-06-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at the Coach House. Host was lovely and welcoming. House was just as described, very cosy and private. Also very tastefully decorated and had all the necessary essentials. Thanks Wendy!!

  • Enjoyed our stay at the hay barn very close to all the local shops and not far for a walk on Dartmoor!

    Rebecca2018-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Wendy's place. It is the perfect place for a few nights near Dartmoor- super clean, cosy, tastefully decorated and adorned wit beautiful art. The apartment is spacious, light and modern. The balcony is a suntrap so great for breakfasts and other meals, with the additional bonus of the sweet smell of honeysuckle all around you. On arrival we found fresh strawberries in the fridge. The kitchen is more than well equipped for anything you might need. The leaflets, booklets etc with local info were very helpful in selecting some walks and getting our bearings. Great location for shops, cafes, etc and also just a short drive away from spectacular walks on the moor. Easy, helpful, prompt and warm communication from Wendy and Chris throughout. We would definitely stay again if passing through the area. Thanks Wendy and Chris!

    Petra2018-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • The Coach House is really lovely-a perfect base for exploring Dartmoor, and the coast. The house is a great space-big relaxing bedroom and sofa area, and little sun trap balcony that we ate out on when we cooked at home. The kitchen is well equipped and there are great local shops in Ashburton to buy food. A few lovely places to eat out too (but check opening days as not all open every night!) We had a brilliant week and Wendy was great at keeping in touch and providing information before our stay.

  • We had a relaxing 3 night stay at the Coach House which is well positioned for exploring Totnes and the surrounding areas. The Coach House was clean and well equipped, Totnes has everything that you will need in terms of provisions. Colin and Irena were great hosts, it was nice chatting with them when our paths crossed and they even offered to get basic provisions for us should we have needed them. We hope to return.

Beautiful character cottage set on the outskirts of The Dartmoor National Park. A peaceful, secluded hideaway with period features throughout, this tasteful conversion provides all the comfort and style for a truly unique holiday experience. River Garden Cottage is our sister property to our other Buckfastleigh holiday home The Old Stables
A beautiful, 18th Century cottage, bursting with original features, with a private South facing garden next to a river. Positioned in a quite private lane, just off Buckfastleigh high street, River Garden Cottage provides a bright, relaxing, characterful home, ideal for exploring the wonderful Devon countryside by day before returning for cosy evenings in by the log burning fire. Stepping into the open-plan living, kitchen and dining area, you'll find an abundance of exposed stonework, oak flooring and beams, matched with rustic and original furniture and fittings. A short distance from the cottage is a private lawned garden, with a seating area over looking the fast flowing River Mardle. We provide a parking permit allowing use of any of the four near-by town car parks. There is also a private parking space with a narrow access for a small to medium sized car approximately 100 meters from the cottage.
  • Gut gelegten. Schön eingerichtet. Der Parkplatz ist das erste mal etwas aufregend. Insgesamt absolut empfehlenswert!

He is a great host, replied promptly and dealt with our questions / queries without any issues. We would recommend booking lunch or dinner at Riverford Field Kitchen which is only 10 minutes drive away. Thank you Stephen.

The spacious apartment is on 2 floors with a shared hall opening on to a terrace with a higher level garden with views across the countryside. The downstairs rooms are large light spaces with high ceilings, the bedrooms upstairs are lovely attic rooms with skylights. The sweet single attic bedroom will be your private space. There is a single bed, desk with shelves, a small hanging cupboard, chair and a kettle. Downstairs the kitchen, lounge and bathroom are shared spaces to utilise/enjoy.
I also have a double room, and double and single together so look for these separate listings if this suit you. Also I offer therapeutic massage and yoga so if you would like a treatment/session let me know and we can see if we can book you in.
The property is on the edge of the small pretty town of Buckfastleigh, you can walk into town in less than 10 mins to the local shops and eateries.

  • We loved staying in Didworthy, a small hamlet on the edge of Dartmoor. Serena and Jez were excellent hosts - great communication, local tips, friendly but never intruding. Fresh hens eggs every day was also a nice treat. Highly recommended!

  • Our family of 4 stayed 6 nights and Shipley Lodge was perfect. Lovely accommodation and beautiful surroundings. Had a lovely walk to Avon Dam and day trips to Totnes, Exeter and Ashburton. Great location and lots to do!!

  • We stayed here recently and thoroughly enjoyed our stay, it’s set in very peaceful and tranquil location near south Brent which has a few shops and pubs where we enjoyed our final night enjoying traditional pub grub and drinks in front the open fire. Beautiful country walks on your door step with Dartmouth , Totnes and Salcombe a half hour drive away for a more coastal feel. We would definitely return , Serena and her husband were very friendly and helpful we couldn’t of asked for a more enjoyable weekend

    Dean2018-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • Serena was a great hostess, she made us feel very welcomed and we really enjoyed the eggs and the wine, thanks very much for that! The lodge is beautiful and even better as on the pictures. Location is great to explore lovely places with all the footpaths :) Unfortunately we had only 2 nights but we would definitely come back!

    Sabine2016-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • We spent a week in bala lodge andy enjoyed our stay very much! The flat is perfectly equipped with anything needed and situated in beautiful surroundings on the border of dartmoor. You can either go for walks in the moor right from the doorstep or discover devon/cornwall by car since the expressway is close. Our son especially loved the chicken and the sheep he wanted to visit several times a day. Perfect.

    Philipp2018-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location and very friendly guests. The apartment is lovely and spacious - we were a little disappointed not to be able to see the view (there is a shed in front of the patio that obscures the view unfortunately). But the place is fairly priced accordingly and well-stocked with games and dvds etc. The surrounding roads are a little hairy for nervous drivers but I’m sure you’d get used to them. All in all, a nice relaxing stay.

    Jenni2018-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • I was looking for a quiet retreat for myself and my dog to escape the fireworks and Shipley Lodge didn't disappoint. Serena's instructions explaining how to get there are really helpful and I found it with ease. The lodge is beautiful, equipped to a high standard and much bigger than I expected. It is decorated really nicely and feels cosy and homely yet with a modern twist. There are some lovely walks and being on the edge of Dartmoor the location is well suited to anyone wanting to explore. I would definately recommend Shipley Lodge and hope to return again.

A peaceful, secluded, light and bright cabin, next to the river Ash a mile outside of Ashburton. The cabin is simply furnished, with futon, sofa, woodburner, tea and coffee making facilities, and organic breakfast. It is in our 1 acre garden, and has its own garden space, with outside table, chairs and fire bowl. Shared bathroom, shower and toilet are up the garden path in the main house. There is no running water in the cabin, but there is a crock dispensing pure Dartmoor water for you.
The cabin is situated in our 1 acre garden, next to the river and nestled between woods in the Valley. You can be lulled to sleep with the sounds of the river and the owls that frequent the valley, and be woken by the birdsong that resonates through the woodland. The cabin is simple, but beautifully peaceful, tranquil, and the setting is idyllic. In the cabin, you will find a comfy king size futon bed, a sofa, a woodburner, an area for making drinks, simple suppers and breakfasts, and hooks to hang clothes. There is a kettle, a four-slice toaster and a small fridge, cutlery, crockery and glasses, fresh coffee, herbal and non-herbal teas and breakfast jars of home-made muesli and porridge oats. There is a single, portable induction hob on which you can cook simple food or, should you prefer, you can cook on the wood burning stove. There can be either dairy or plant milk in the fridge on your arrival, whichever you prefer. There can also be a warming and nourishing simple supper of home made soup and bread left for your arrival, or on any evening during your stay (this will need to be booked at least 24 hours in advance, for £5 per person). All food provided is organic and vegan. All bedding is supplied, along with towels and soap and there is an electric heater, blankets and a wood burning stove to keep you warm and cosy. During the cooler months, you may wish to bring warm socks and/or slippers too. The cabin is simply furnished, with reclaimed, reused and recycled objects and furniture. Should you need wifi, you may come up to the house, but perhaps you would rather immerse yourself in nature...
Ashburton sits at the edge of, and within, Dartmoor National park and is a beautiful Devon town, renowned for its antiques and its good food. The cabin is a mile out of Ashburton town, an easy walk along the river. Dartmoor is walkable distance (uphill) or a five minute drive away. There are many good places to eat in Ashburton: a fabulous deli; artisan bakery; a wonderful farm shop selling organic produce and a healthfood shop. Riverford Farm Shop and Field Kitchen are a short drive away. We have an outdoor community swimming pool (heated) which is open until the beginning of September and we are close to many lovely wild swimming spots. The Ashburton Cookery School is a short drive away. The cabin's position makes it the perfect location for Moor walking, kayaking and canoeing, pony trekking and cycling. We are half an hour's drive from Exeter, Plymouth and the beautiful Devon coast. Totnes is approximately 7 miles away, Widecombe is a 20 minute drive and Hay Tor just 15 minutes away. The South Devon Railway is close by with its steam engines and vintage vehicles, and the Otter Sanctuary and Butterfly Farm too. We are perfectly placed for exploring the Dart Valley and the Devon coastline.
  • We had a very nice stay in the cabin surrounded by beautiful nature.

    Anna2018-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • The river cabin at Tina's is cozy and well kept. I travelled with a friend and we had plenty of space in the cabin. We especially enjoyed the breakfast offered with home made sourdough bread, jam and granola. The bed is very comfy and there is also a heater which warms up the room quite quickly in case the night gets chilly . I definitely recommend to stay at Tina's especially if you are planning on discovering the Dartmoor area which is very close. We loved the natural setting of the property and Tina's and her family's warm welcome.

    Giannola2017-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • Tina's cabin in the woods is an absolute gem, the setting is stunning! Going to sleep and waking up to the sound of the stream was such a delight and the cabin its self is perfect. It has everything you could need, comfy bed, log burner and Tina's little touches with the granola and bread for breakfast was lovely. We had such a nice weekend staying here and would highly reccomend booking a weekend, or if you can stay longer do so, we didn't want to leave. Tina and her husband were full of amazing knowledge of the local area and tips of where to go. Thank you for such a perfect weekend guys. x

  • Lovely spot in the middle of green ! Tina lives 50 m in the main house and is an open person, very friendly and helpful. Everything you need is provided. You just come and relax. Fresh bread, milk in the fridge and Musli. I loved the little cute cups, colored plates and french press to make coffee (tea is there as well). There are so many blankets you can't really freeze. The bed is not built that high but very comfortable. It is a romantic spot, perfect for couples !

    Nicole2017-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • This was such a gem of a place, a really good find! The cabin is beautiful with lots of very thoughtful touches. With either the electric heater or the wood burner on it got toasty warm quickly and was all really cosy and super comfortable, with good quality bedding and lovely rugs on the floor. The sound of the river flowing outside and the birds singing in the garden was like paradise. Tina showed us some lovely walks and the local town was easily accessible along a gorgeous forest walk by the river. When we arrived we have delicious soup prepared by Tina and breakfast was healthy and tasty too. It was one of the best places we've ever stayed and I would definitely recommend it.

  • Beautiful accommodation at a quiet place close to Dartmoor. Penny was very helpful and an amazing host.

    Julian2018-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Penny's place was fantastic and she had thought of every detail, providing everything (and more!) than we needed for a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. The place was spotless and very comfortable and in a beautiful location. The yummy treats for breakfast and the fresh flowers were also lovely! We would definitely stay again :)

    Georgina2017-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely 5 night stay at Penny's house. From the personal touches of freshly cut flowers from her beautiful garden or the fresh produce for our first breakfast to the box of toys for our three year old, we could tell that Penny had put a lot of thought into our stay. The annex was perfect for a small family like ours and the added bonus of an enormous comfy bed, porch and garden made it a fantastic place for our stay in Devon. The house is conveniently situated around 10-15 minutes from Totnes which makes a great base for exploring the area. Penny provides a comprehensive list of recommendations too. We'd definitely go back!

    Becky2017-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Penny was a very warm, considerate and professional host. The annex is very thoughtfully put together with everything you could need for a comfortable stay. It was really cosy on a wet October weekend. The local information provided (restaurant and pub recommendations, points of interest, walks etc) is excellent. The gardens at the house are beautiful, and the location is great for exploring Devon. We had a really enjoyable and relaxing stay. Thanks Penny!

    Gabriel2017-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • Very spacious and extremely comfortable accommodation set in the most glorious Devon countryside. Penny is a very friendly and welcoming host and provided many extra and thoughtful touches. If ever we had to stay in the Totnes area again, we would make a beeline for this lovely place.

    Terry2018-05-16T00:00:00Z
  • Penny is the most incredible hostess! She was extremely quick in her responses and there was nothing too big or too small for her to sort. The flat is beautifully kitted out, with its own entrance and gorgeous kitchenette and bathroom. The bed is also ludicrously comfy! The area itself is perfect for anyone who wants to explore the countryside.. I was there for work and didn't have quite as much time to explore as I would have liked, but Penny has a folder full of fun and exciting things to do in the local area and beyond. I really couldn't recommend this place enough and can't wait to come again when I'm next in the area!

    Amy2017-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Hidden between lane ways in a remote but actually quite central in South Devon between Dartmoor and Coast we had a very convenient stay. Rooms are meticulous and Penny has thought about anything you could possibly need or want. The sofa in the living room/ kitchen/ dining room makes a very comfortable bed but might not be for everyone because it's all a bit tight. The master bedroom with ensuite bedroom and the deck with flowering plants are a dream however.

Our private, internal one bedroom annexe in Dartington village provides comfortable accommodation comprising a small sitting room with integral kitchen facilities, bedroom with kingsize bed and contemporary shower room. It is completely self-contained on the ground floor within our home. It has its own private, exterior entrance and guests have access to the gardens and parking on our drive. It is within walking distance of local amenities including Dartington Hall, the Cott Inn and Totnes.
The annexe is part of the ground floor of our home between Dartmoor and the South Devon coast in the beautiful South Hams. There are lovely local walks and a cycle route into Totnes. Dartington Hall is within walking distance and we are a short stroll to the historic Cott Inn which serves good food, and the village shops and cafes. Ideal for independent individuals or couples seeking a friendly base from which to explore the local area. We do not provide meals but there are simple kitchen facilities ( 2 burner hob, microwave, sink, fridge, kettle, toaster) and we will provide a welcome pack of basic provisions to help get you started. Wi-fi is available. This is a no smoking house, but guests are welcome to smoke in the garden. Arrival and departure times are flexible, but if we are expecting new guests on the day of your departure we would ask you to leave by 11.00am. The compact nature of the annexe restricts the use of cots, pushchairs etc. So although we are very happy to welcome young babies, you might find the limited space a problem for more than a short stay.
Dartington is ideally situated for access to Torbay, Plymouth, Exeter, the coast and Dartmoor. We are 5 minutes by car into Totnes, or a 20-30 minute walk along our lane, or the riverside path. The nearest beach is 7 miles away and there are numerous wonderful beaches within half an hour's drive.
  • Vivien is wonderfully helpful and above all thoughtful.

    Neville2018-04-13T00:00:00Z
  • Vivand Nigel are delightful hosts who made us feel very welcome from the outset. We loved our stay and really appreciated the quiet surroundings, the very comfortable bed, the luxurious bathroom and having access to their lovely garden. We plan to return next year!

    Kath2016-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is the first time that we have used Airbnb and it was very successful. Vivien was away, but Nigel met us on our arrival, showed us the accommodation and told us of places to eat. He was an excellent host. We were surprised at the standard of the accommodation. A great deal of thought had obviously gone into it and we couldn’t think of anything that could be improved upon. The “extras” to eat and drink were also excellent and really appreciated. We will certainly recommend to our family and friends and hope to stay again on our next visit to family in Devon. Many thanks to you both.

    Karen2016-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely compact apartment, connected to the main house by a door but you don't have to use it as you have your own access around the back. Beautifully decorated and equipped, and loved the big shower. Enjoy

    Adrian2017-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had an absolutely brilliant stay with Viv and Nigel. The annex was very comfortable and well equipped. Breakfast being included was an absolute treat! Thanks for hosting us and we look forward to coming back.

    Andrew2016-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • Vivien was such a great host! The place was very warm, peaceful and well-equipped. She made us feel very welcomed and even prepared us breakfast items to get us going! Despite we were out and about most of the time and had little engagement with her in the beginning, we had a very nice chat on our way out and when she found out we got engaged on the trip, she immediately gave us a beautifully hand-made heart shape decoration as a gift! Made us feel very special :) Thank you again Viv!

    Jess2016-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • Vivian and Nigel are fantastic hosts, they made us feel welcome and ensured our stay was very comfortable. Very clean and tidy annex with all we needed, and more! The erea is beautiful, with a fantastic walk to Totnes and back for dinner highly recommended (during daylight). Viv and Nigel are really nice people, we enjoyed chatting and sharing stories :) thanks!

    Dorian2016-05-17T00:00:00Z
  • Vivien and Nigel were extremely welcoming and helpful, they even picked us up from the local station. The place was as described, very clean and stocked with all necessities (including wine!). We enjoyed meeting and chatting with them. It is in a very nice part of Dartington, and a two miles beautiful walk from Totnes. Highly recommended!

  • Katies place was wonderful. Such a cozy cabin in a lovely garden. The breakfast Katie had bought/made for us was a welcome (and delicious) surprice and Karie was very helpful sharing her knowledge of great hiking trails in the area and the pubs in Ashburton, which is just a 10 min walk from Katies place. Will definitely recommend!

You’ll love my place for its atmosphere, uniqueness and secluded, idilic location with stunning views over Dartmoor. It has an air of creativity and love, with a cosy natural feel. Views overlook forrest, valley and river. With hot tub (add £75) it’s the perfect place to unwind. Dartmoor is a glorious play ground with wild ponies, bouldering for climbers, rivers and beaches nearby for swimming. Plenty Neolithic stone circles around. Ashburton is a town, famous for antiques and fine foods.
The hut is off grid, so you will have a taste of what living simply and close to nature is like, but still enjoy having the luxury and comfort of my hut. Hopefully you'll be inspired and go away with an experience of living off-grid, and a greater appreciation for nature, and what we take often for granted in this modern and busy world.   The woodwork is beautiful and the whole dwelling is uniquely crafted using only natural paints and materials so as to minimise anything harmful to both the environment and the people living in it. THE HOT TUB CAN BE ADDED TO YOUR STAY FOR AN ADDITIONAL £75 Family’s wanting to stay with kids. The place is in a very peaceful aria, and i’m carful to respect the wishes of the local residents. Also there are not fantastic safety measures, for example the swimming pool has no fence around it and there is a woodland near by with forestry machinery and log stacks (not to be entered). But by all means if your kids are well behaved and will be under supervision. We’re happy to have them stay. There are snakes and general food cupboard that your welcome to help yourself to.
The natural rolling hills of Devon are relaxing to the eye and it is utterly peaceful here, but also providing a perfect play ground for families and couples wanting to explore the great outdoors. There no other guists on the property (it is a residential property and they are very peace loving folk, so I would ask all guists to be especially consciousnes of this). The hut has an the feild in front to itself to ensure the privacy and wellbeing of it's occupants.
  • A beautiful location and such a special place to get away from it all. Very relaxing. Hot tub an added bonus with lovely clean water. Lovely, friendly host who was easily contactable and prompt to answer any queries before and during the stay.

    Joy2018-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Willows hut is tucked away in the sticks in a beautiful part of Devon. Even though it was freezing cold, windy and rainy, the wood burning stove meant we had a wonderfully cosy capsule to take refuge from the elements. The area is incredible for walks, within a short drive of the coast, with many amazing places to eat. The local village is a weirdly quirky yet fantastically entertaining place to spend an evening. A truly unforgettable experience

    Samuel2018-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • What can I say? An amazing and magical place nestled in the idyllic Dartmoor foothills. The Shepherd's Hut is a direct insight into Willow's imagination and love for the outdoors. The hut let's the light in from every side, bringing warmth and the natural beauty from the outside into the living space. The place was clean and had all the necessary bits and bobs for cooking. We especially loved the outdoor shower, and the concept of the 'eco-loo'. The hot tub was an awesome feature! With views over the rolling hills of Dartmoor, framed in pine forests and criss-crossed by ancient hedgerows, there was no place more perfect to relax and take in the beauty of the area. At night, another spectacle unfolds. By looking up, the hot tub transforms into your own personal planetarium, from which you can observe the Milky-Way, Venus, Mars and the trillions of stars that make up our galaxy. If you're looking for a relaxing retreat where you can let your creativity unfold, or a romantic getaway that will give you a lot of memories for years to come, this is the place for you! Thanks Willow, for letting us into your world and enabling us to imagine an alternative, more relaxed and fulfilling way of living.

    Thomas2018-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • OH WOW! Willows photos and my review will not ever do this place justice. Forget Buckland in the Moor, this place is Paradise in the Moor. Everything was perfect, the shepherds hut, the views, the hot tub. All amazing. Willow too was the perfect host. My friend and I want to go back every year, forever Thank you so much, this is the perfect place to get away from it all and relax for a long weekend.

    Charlotte2018-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • A tranquil, relaxing break surrounded by big views and the sounds of the countryside. The shepherds hut is very spacious for a shepherds hut and feels very cosy and homely. It was perfect in the summer with the doors open, but I can imagine it being equally perfect in the winter cosied up with the log burner going. Willows description of the hut is bang on. It's not all mod cons or the height of luxury, but when you're heading into the wilds of Devon for some peace and quiet it offers exactly what you want and has its own special, quirky, comfortable charm. Definitely don't miss out on the hot tub! That is the cherry on top and really takes this place to the next level.

    Sam2018-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing location, very helpful host. Perfect for a romantic get away or a weekend with friends.

    Fawaz2018-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Willow was a great hostess, and the 'Tiny House' was charming and very well put together. Concerns about getting cold at night were unfounded, as the property is well insulated and detailed, with good air-tightness stopping any draughts (despite the howling wind outside). I wouldn't be surprised to find myself back for another stay in the future - Thanks!

    Anthony2017-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful countryside escape! It’s the perfect place to switch off and unwind away from day to day life. I’ve recommended it to friends since. The views are totally stunning and the area is lovely; it’s an easy drive to Salcombe, Torquay, Dartmouth etc! The shepherds hut is very sweet and cosy. There were a few little niggles like no matches (made lighting the gas on the first night interesting), no key (weird if you’re not used to going out leaving everything unlocked), only 1 wine glass etc, and we hadn’t realised the bed didn’t have a proper mattress. It’s got a futon piece on it which wasn’t very comfortable after 4 nights. A little fridge/cool box would definitely be of more use than an oven, no fridge made us more ‘on grid’ as we had to drive to the supermarket every day as couldn’t keep fresh food cold. The outdoor shower is really novel and I liked it, but it’s very cold! The hot tub (more like a bath) is beautiful and so relaxing. Would have much rather it was included in the listing price though. It felt expensive to hand over in cash considering the realistic number of uses possible during a stay. Would definitely recommend if you need an escape but think a few simple improvements could be made to make it better equipped for longer stays ☺️

  • We had a wonderful time at Max's cottage, lovely log fire kept the cottage warm, despite the heavy rain, the beds were super comfortable and the bath great. It was easy to find, great hosts thank you both and we would definitely go back if on the area again. Would totally recommend max's cottage in any kind of weather with books, board games, dvds, a great escape from the winter rain.

  • Despite the cold and rainy weather, we had a warm welcome at the Max's Cottage with Janine greeting us outside on the road, providing logs for the fireplace and the indispensable tea and milk for the tired travellers in first evening. The cosy interiors of the cottage create the perfect environment to enjoy regardless of the weather outside. We really enjoyed our weekend there!

You’ll love my place because of the comfy bed, the cosiness, and the views. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travellers. It has good road, bus and train links. • I really enjoyed my stay in Sarah's house. She and her husband made me very welcome, especially after my long journey through treacherous snowy conditions. I parked my car in the lay-by just along the road. The guest room was comfortable and spotlessly clean, and had everything I needed including good wi-fi. The bath-tub was very unusual and I enjoyed my soak and the fluffy towels! I found the bed really comfy and I slept well. Sarah let me use her oven to cook a ready-meal in the evening, and she prepared tea and toast for breakfast. I walked into Totnes on my first day there, it was an easy walk, and there is a bus service too. Sarah suggested places to visit in the surrounding area, and this was helpful to me.

    Sue2018-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Sarah's was home from home . 6 out of 5 stars for Sarah.

    Kassim2017-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time staying at Sarah's and highly recommend it. The room was clean, homely and the bed was very comfortable. We were traveling without a car and had no problems walking to both Dartington and Totnes. We especially liked the Timehouse Muzeum (recommended by Sarah and Derrick), the Saturday Markets and the variety of cafes and restaurants.

    Luke2017-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • As a base Sarah's room is idea, near the town, the train station, the river, the hospital. Nearby safe parking and delightful host. A quiet, peaceful and beautifully decorated room. The bathroom is small so perhaps not ideal for someone over 6'2" but it is so quiet and comfortable. Also it has excellent wifi which to me is very important.

  • A great place to stay- lovely location and warm welcome. Great value for money ☺️

    Rachael2018-04-02T00:00:00Z
  • We visited Dartington for a wedding and Sarah’s place was the perfect place to stay. She offered us lots of local tips and advice and the room was beautifully decorated. It was also great to have our own bath and toilet. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Sarah’s place to other travellers.

    Chloe2018-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • I really enjoyed my stay at Sarah's home. The ensuite room is really lovely, light and airy with a very comfortable bed. Don't be put off by the main road outside, the room is remarkably quiet. Sarah provided a simple but delicious breakfast each day and kindly allowed me to store my bike inside. There is an entrance to the Dartington estate just along the road, so plenty of good walks/rides to enjoy.

  • Jaime and Axel's place is literally on the edge of dartmoor with its endless walks and swimming holes. It is down the end of a narrow, bumpy, cobbled track but only 10 minutes from Buckfastleigh. The barn itself has an authentic, rustic earthy feel - stylish but not stylized - but the amenities are new and sparkling clean. Comfy mattress and gorgeous bed linen, a guitar, piano, bluetooth speaker .... meditation cushions ... Fresh bread, milk, jam and butter and of course, the lovely Jaime and Axel themselves. Couldn't have been happier with our stay. Except we didn't have time to look at Jaime's ceramics work.

    Clare2018-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • An incredible place. The barn house is beautifully set up and well decorated to the smallest detail. Accompanied with the warmest welcome by Jaime and Axel (and a really friendly dog) it truly is a hard to find gem. The perfect spot to enjoy the wilderness of Dartmoor, yet be close to the nice towns like Totnes and seaside of South Devon. Thank you so much again, we really enjoyed our weekend and can’t wait to come back.

  • I stayed at the barn for three weeks while working nearby and it was fantastic. Jamie and Axel were really attentive, making sure I had everything I needed and even went above and beyond by taking my little dog out with them when I was working during the day. In the evening you can just park the car up outside the cottage and walk to one of the pubs or the wine bar for a nice meal or a pint – or bring great local food home to cook a meal from one of the many shops in town without having to get into the car. Its a perfect location if you want to explore Dartmoor and the coast and beaches of South Devon.
  • The house is a lovely base if you want to be close to Dartmoor as you can be up there in 15 mins. The town centre is a 10 min walk with all the small shops you will need - co-op and spar open till late and all weekend too. A small point to bear in mind if you find stairs a bit trying, is that the bathroom is downstairs and the stairs are quite steep. Marie made everything easy and the house was clean and tidy.

  • Overall a nice place to stay, only a short walk from the centre of Ashburton. Quiet and clean with two big comforable beds upstairs. Kitchen is tiny. Bathroom is downstairs. Stairs are rather treacherous - so not great for anyone older or with mobility problems.

  • We stayed at Marie's lovely little cottage in the heart of Ashburton for 2 nights. The cottage is well equipped and very central for local shops, pubs and restaurants. Marie was extremely helpful with the booking and we are sure to return! A lovely stay was had by my whole family and we felt very much at home there.

    Rebecca2016-04-07T00:00:00Z
  • Cottage and rooms were exactly as described in an ideal location. Beautiful area in the heart of Asburton. Cottage was clean and we'll equipped - host has thought of everything and couldn't ask for more. If I return to Ashburton, then I'd definitely seek to book this cottage again.

    Linda2016-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely little cottage in a great location. Made for a top weekend on Dartmoor.

    Alex2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely little character property and the perfect base for our family adventures around Dartmoor.

    Tracey2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is absolutely beautiful and decorated really sweet with cool vintage furniture and nick nacks. Me,my family plus our two dogs had the best time exploring the New forest!. The location is only a ten minuet drive away from great walks and scenic views. With the cottage being on the edge of the idyllic town of Ashburton it was great,as we could pop in to the town for food and to look around cute independent shops.Marie louise was great at giving directions to the cottage and we didn't need to contact her on our holiday as the cottage was fully equipt and no area for conplaints. We could park right outside and we briefly saw the neighbours and they were lovely. Would 100% stay again in the future as there's just so much to do in the area and it's not far from the beaches.Plus the bonus of a really cute cottage and a very powerful shower to top it off.

  • Extremely happy with our stay at Charlotte's. Very comfortable, spotlessly clean and thoughtful extras, like essentials in the fridge, delicious bread and yummy brownies. Thank you Charlotte! Hope we'll be back sometime.

  • Lovely little cottage, very cosy. A little tricky to find but definitely worth it when you do

  • Thank you very much for a lovely stay, the cottage was absolutely beautiful and it had everything we needed. Very welcoming and friendly hosts, we would love to stay again. Thank you for having us!

    Teresa2017-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful cottage in a very quaint and peaceful location, we really enjoyed our stay. All the tips and advice which Charlotte sent prior to arrival were much appreciated and she offered a really warm welcome when we arrived (along with bread, brownies, wine and a host of other essentials in the fridge).

    Mike2017-05-22T00:00:00Z
  • I love listening to gentle white noise whilst sleeping and this is the first time I got to hear the real deal - a babbling brook outside the window. It was a bit muddy and hilly to go for walks immediately outside the cottage, however everything you could want is within 10 minute drive. Dartington Hall Estate is a real treat. Walking around the grounds left us spellbound. Totnes - beautiful town with vibrancy and health-conscious ethos. Try 2seeds cafe for the brilliant variety of serve yourself salads. We stayed for 1 week at the cottage, and Martin and Charlotte were so accommodating. Roasting fires and a beautiful open play kitchen, diner and living room...you'll love it for a quiet getaway.

  • Beautiful cottage in a lovely little hamlet close to many wonderful places to visit in South Devon - we visited Mothercombe beach, Salcombe, Totnes, Ashburton and Dartmoor national park all in our 4 day stay. The cottage was fantastic and perfect to come back to after a day out - very comfortable and relaxing. There is also a public path that takes you to the local pub which has fantastic food and atmosphere. Charlotte and her husband were also very nice and welcoming.

    Tessa2017-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful, tranquil, relaxing place to stay. This was my first Airbnb experience, and I think it will take some beating!! Charlotte's hosting skills were second to none, the cottage was stunning! Thanks you again for a lovely stay. I hope to return again in the future.

    Tony2017-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Charlotte's beautiful home is located in a small hamlet next to a running stream. We were made to feel very welcome in this comfortable and spacious house. Charlotte offered some good recommendations for places to go and places to eat. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Swallows cottage is a pretty barn conversion nestled deep in the tranquil beauty of the rolling South Hams hills, South Devon. Situated at the end of a country lane, away from traffic noise, yet just three miles from the picturesque, Elizabethan town of Totnes. Set in grounds of 2.5 acres, on-site facilities include a shared indoor heated swimming pool, sauna, children's indoor games room, children's outdoor play ground, BBQ, and picnic areas alongside a small stream.
  • This is a really special place. We’re a family of 4 with a baby and a 2 year-old toddler. It’s extremely well equipped for families. The play room is full of toys which kept our toddler entertained on rainy days. The table tennis and pool table are in really great condition. There is also a dedicated toddler play area outside with smaller swings, sandpit and slide. Plus the excellent indoor pool (warm enough for the baby), stream and playing field with larger equipment and outside activities. You could spend a week just chilling at the place but it is also a great base to explore the South Hams being a short drive to Totnes. Unfortunately we were involved in a car accident during our stay and Kay did everything she could to help us through a tough situation. Great host, lovely place - thanks!

  • We really enjoyed our 2 day stay in this idyllic place. Stunning countryside on the edge of Dartmoor. Just the sound of the swallows and cows. The cottage is immaculate, cosy and has everything you need. Angela is lovely. We will be back! Nikki and Bob.

    Nikki2018-05-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely bank holiday staying at the cottage. The secluded location was perfect. The touches of leaving a dog bed and bowl out for Bodhi (our cockerpoo) was lovely and made him feel very welcome. Would definitely recommend escaping to the beautiful Devon countryside and staying at Angela’s cottage.

    Catherine2018-05-07T00:00:00Z

  • Elizabeth's cottage is a quiet courtyard and is an excellent base for exploring Dartmoor. It was well equipped and very comfortable. Although we did not meet Elizabeth, she left us a basket of goodies and suggested places to visit in Dartmoor. We had a great stay at her cottage.

  • This is a perfect little cottage close to the heart of Buckfastleigh. It's charming and clean with a homely feel.

  • Nice cosy cottage with everything you need. Good location for exploring both Dartmoor and the Dart valley.

    Diana2018-05-17T00:00:00Z
  • It is a very lovely, cosy and warm cottage with a very well equiped kitchen and a comfortable bed. The cottage is located in a small alley which connects only a few houses which creates a great atmospere. Only if you are tall you should bear in mind that the cealing on the ground floor (kitchen and living area) is a bit lower. If you are 1,85 meter or longer you will need to bend. Nevertheless we definetly recommend this place. We visited this cottage for four days but would have loved to stay longer since the area offers many attractions and beautifull nature.

    Jorick2018-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • We spent a great few days in Liz's lovely little cottage. It's very clean and had everything we needed. The location is also very convenient. It's down a quiet little lane - perfect for a good night's sleep but only a short drive from the Devon Express Way so very easy to explore both the Moors and the coast. Liz is an excellent host. She answered all my questions very promptly and we really appreciated the breakfast basket she left for us. A perfect base for exploring Devon!

  • Bala Lodge is really a very nice place to stay if it's only for two or for a group of four. It's like a home away from home and that's not only because it's a nice place but also because of Serena. She is a first class host who will make you feel welcomed. We stayed for 3 nights but we could have easily stayed for more. If you want a quiet retreat for any occasion/ reason then I would highly recommend Bala Lodge. The building is very nicely done and has a modern minimal chic about it that many will enjoy. The rooms are spacious and you really feel comfortable there. The finishing are to a good standard too. It's set in very beautiful surroundings making you wish it was yours. I did. I wished I owned it..! The animals around you, the space around you, the hills around you.....you are just surrounded by peace. And if you want to see some other places just get in your car and drive to the neighbouring towns and cities. Nothing is too far away. Or just go for a walk in the countryside. We will be returning to Bala Lodge and I would recommend that you book it.

    Michael2017-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • We really loved the Bala Lodge--the setting was lovely despite the rain, the apartment is very spacious and comfortable, and we wish we could have stayed longer. Meeting the pigs and chickens was great for the kids (and us).

    Ellen2016-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • Bala Lodge was an idyllic retreat in a such a beautiful location. A beautiful river near by, and plenty of lush woodland to explore. With a village 10 mins away for any emergency supplied and some other shops to explore. The lodge itself was extremely comfortable and had everything we needed for our 3 night stay, but would be equally well kitted out for longer stays. The space is well designed, light and airy and a good size for a family of 4. The children loved being able to help with the chickens, feeding and had we been around at the right time, they could have also collected eggs. The pigs were great fun and they got to feed them too. We were greeted by a chilled bottle of wine, milk and some freshily laid eggs, we were also lucky to be able to have some of the home bred sausages and bacon! Serena and Jez were fab hosts, there if you needed them. We very much hope to return.

    Susan2016-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely few days staying in an even lovelier home!

    Sam2016-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • We've just spent 4 days at Bala Lodge, in the most beautiful setting imaginable. The apartment is light, spacious and has every modern convenience you might want. Serena and her husband are so welcoming which only adds to the experience. We were greeted with fresh eggs (laid by their own hens), milk , flowers and a bottle of wine ! We will definitely be returning at some point in the future. It also makes a great base for driving out to some lovely coastal resorts too and has a fab local selection for anyone who's a foodie like we are. Michelin rated restaurants on the doorstep. A fabulous short break.

Really nice quaint town with local shops less than 3 minutes walk. Waking up to birdsong and sheep quietly bleating was just wonderful. We would all highly recommend Michaels place and would love to come back one day.

  • We had a lovely stay! Ashburton is an adorable town with some cute shops and restaurants. It was a great location to explore Dartmoor as well as some of the beaches within a reasonable drive. The house is beautiful and very comfortable. All aspects of the house were well equipt and Michael had some nice touches like flowers, milk, and biscuits, which we very much appreciated. The house is located in the center of town and very convenient. There are 2 small groceries as well as a bakery and several delis very close. The parking is behind the building and is nice to have. I would highly recommend a stay!

Her house is a little bit outside of Asburton, but very calm and relaxing. Breakfast was great, thanks a lot! If I happen to visit Ashburton a second time, I'd definitely go again to Katie! Best wishes, Simon

Warm wooden chalet set in a peaceful location with superb views of the surrounding countryside, 10min from Totnes. A comfortable place to relax, an ideal base to explore the coast, Dartmoor & the alternative culture of Totnes. Access to our secluded garden. Exclusive use of hot tub in its own cosy & warm little summer house ( extra £25/day). We have lovely neighbours and their well-being matters to us. To respect their need for a restful sleep we ask for quiet time after 10 pm. Thank you.
Situated in a secluded garden with its own entrance from the Devon lane and adjacent the open countryside, the timber chalet has an unusual and beautiful design, with stained glass, interestingly shaped windows, wooden floors and walls in a natural oil finish. Sitting comfortably in the large lounge/diner, looking over the Dart valley towards Dartmoor and at Hood Ball (one of the local hills, an ancient volcanic plug), visitors report feeling touched by a sense of relaxation and peace. The rest of the accommodation comprises a galley style kitchen, a shower room/toilet and a double and a twin bedroom. The owner's cottage is close by so info and help is available if needed. We have our own borehole water supply which is UV treated (and so unchlorinated) and really delicious to drink. Please note the hot tub is now situated just off the shower room, in its own cosy and warm summer house and is available at an extra £25/day for your exclusive use (min 2 days and pre-booking is essential at the time of initial accommodation enquiry). We use oxygen based water treatment. There is much to enjoy outside, eating alfresco in the garden, sitting around the fire and lounging looking at the glorious view.
  • The garden house is a unique place set within a lovely landscape. Perfectly quiet! The Dartmoor, Exeter and other places along the coast are easily accessible. We've got excellent advices of our host where to go best which was much appreciated! All communications went well and the description how to find the place have been very helpful. If you're looking for the ordinary this place wouldn't suit you. But otherwise: enjoy!

  • beautiful, warm and cosy, with friendly hosts and everything you could need in a cabin.

  • Beautiful location, cosy and unique chalet. Kids really enjoyed the garden and large lounge to play in. Everyone slept beautifully! Lovely fresh air and a great spot.

  • We had a fantastic stay- gorgeous little cabin, really nice relaxed vibe and everything we needed. Would defiantly return!

  • Rustic and charming. We had a great stay.

  • This place is so amazing. Beauful from the outside and in. Views of the outside are perfect. The inside is so cosy and great for socialing, board games and maybe a little drink up. The hot tub is a great touch in a separate out house with complete privacy. The host is very accommodating and thoughtful. Communication is great.

    Josh2018-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • Perfectly situated and hosting was great. It was actually bigger than expected and the hot tub was great fun. We made a BBQ on the Saturday and was great fun. Lots to do around Dartington and Totnes.

  • We had a really great stay. Our hosts were kind, welcoming and accommodating; doing everything they could to make our stay a success. The chalet is in a really scenic spot, and a good point to explore this corner of Devon. A car is advised for staying here, although we enjoyed our walk into Totnes and to the Cott Inn. The hot-tub is a definite winner :)

Private double bedroom in a rural cottage. Escape to a tranquil hamlet on Dartmoor. Great walks from the door. Good pub food just 10 minutes walk away. Easy access from the A38 and a perfect location for exploring Dartmoor and south Devon. Shared bathroom, use of the kitchen for evening meals, breakfast provided.
Characterful 300 year old cottage, in Dartmoor National Park, in a small hamlet. Come and relax and feel at home, surrounded by original artwork and pottery collected from around the world. The bedroom features a solid handmade wooden bed which guests all say is very comfortable and has a good size window looking out onto fields; it is very peaceful and quiet. The bedroom is south facing and light. A pretty cottage garden with table and chairs, is bordered by the river Mardle. Great for walkers, the open moor is just 5 minutes walk away, the cottage gives access to Holne Moor, the river Dart, the Two Moors Way and a short drive takes you to Venford Reservoir or Hembury Woods. There is a good pub selling food at a reasonable price, 10 minutes walk away (up hill on the way there, downhill at the end of the evening) and there is a cafe and village shop in Holne, about 30 minutes walk. Also good for people heading down or back from Cornwall, just 7 minutes drive from the A38, with clear directions to our door. I am happy for guests to use the kitchen to make simple meals for dinner, heating soup for example. You are welcome to use the lounge / dining room for meals and to relax in the evening I am often out in the evening (and at work during the day) and when I am home, I will often be in my own space in the evening. Although I love to meet guests and find out about your trip, I may not have a lot of time to be sociable and might just be available for questions and a quick chat now and then The house is filled with books, a small DVD collection and a folky music collection - I am happy for guests to dip in during their stay. There is parking for one car up to the size of a small van. Larger cars can park on the roadside nearby.
The hamlet of Coombe sits in a small hidden valley, very peaceful, with more horses passing than cars, and with the delightful river Mardle running along it. There are about 12 houses in the valley, scattered along either side of the river, and a upstream the road gives way to an old stone track through Scae Wood and up onto Holne Moor. From there you can walk to Princetown, 12 miles over open moorland, or stroll to the pub in Scoriton for a bite to eat. We are in a row of 300 year old weaver's cottages. The attic spaces still had looms, and the open gable end to throw spun yarn down for collection, when the cottages were refurbished. The wool was taken to the mills in Buckfastleigh which had a thriving wool trade until the end of the 19th century.

    Marylou2015-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • ideal place to discover Dartmoor from the inside.

    Jean-Marie2018-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • I had a great stay at the cottage. Sonia was very easy to communicate with and arranged to pick me up at the train station. She was prompt, helpful, respectful and very easy to get along with. The flat is exactly as advertised. It's very quiet, comfortable, cozy and clean. My phone didn't get a signal, which I wanted, but if that's something you need, then you might have to figure out if you can survive on wifi only. Sonia provides breakfast materials (muesli, eggs, milk, tea, coffee) in the morning and lights a fire in the evening, which was quite nice. You have easy access (15 - 20 minute walk) to the moor with its great hikes and scenery. Sonia also drew up a map for me which was very accurate and helpful. The nearest town (Holne) is about a 20 minute walk away and it has a tearooom where you can have cream tea or breakfast, along with a little grocery store if you want to buy supplies. There is also a pub in Holne that has a pretty wide-ranging, locally-sourced menu ie the burgers are beef from the surrounding countryside, as is the venison and the pork. Pretty delicious and relatively inexpensive with fairly generous portions. The other pub is closer (The Tradesmans Arms), roughly a 8 minute walk from the cottage. They do a nice, affordable dinner with generous portions. If you go before 7pm, there are 7 meal options for £7. Thursdays are also quiz night from 9pm onwards, which was good fun. The only negative thing about the experience was that the cottage's torch's battery had died so I was reliant on my phone's torch to navigate the spooky roads in the pitch black and fog to the pub.

  • Cosy little cottage down the hill from Scoritton. Clean, tidy and warm. Sonia was very welcoming. Tradesman Inn in Scoritton recommended, about 10 minutes walk.

  • Sonia was a brilliant host, very friendly & welcoming. The cottage is lovely and really cosy especially with the log fire. Shame I was only staying for one night!

    Jenny2014-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Sonia is a warm, welcoming host and she accepted late changes in arrangements. Her cottage is delightful, the room comfortable and the facilities spotless. She was sociable and friendly and made our stay memorable.

    Jeremy2015-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • Neat little cottage with a kind and helpful host. Beautiful views from bedroom and the opportunity to use lovely garden - a treat when sunny. I managed without a car.

    Katrina2018-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Sonia was really welcoming. The cottage was lovely and so cosy! Had a really good nights sleep as it's in a small hamlet so very peaceful. We walked up to the pub in the evening which is about 5mins away , nice for some food and drinks. Thank you Sonia!

Beautiful character cottage set on the outskirts of The Dartmoor National Park. A peaceful, secluded hideaway with period features throughout, this tasteful conversion provides all the comfort and style for a truly unique holiday experience. The Old Stables is our sister property to our other Buckfastleigh holiday home River Garden Cottage
Tucked away at the end of a quiet courtyard within the moorland town of Buckfastleigh, a unique and peaceful 18th Century former Stables and Tucking Loft. Immediately upon entering the property, you arrive in the glass roofed Orangery - a beautiful, bright room where you can enjoy a drink or read a book surrounded by fruit trees and flowering plants. This leads directly into an open and character filled lounge with revealed wood beams and wood burner offering a relaxing, cosy environment. In one corner sits a baby grand piano which can be played to ones hearts content. There is a full package of entertainment available with our 48" Curved Ultra HD Samsung Flatscreen TV, including the full SKY package (inc. Movies, Sports, Documentaries) plus BT Sports. With 4K Blueray, Wifi and a selection of DVD's & Books mean there is always something to do even if the weather is against you. Open plan lounge-diner leads into the bespoke, country cottage kitchen with terracotta floor tiles. A rear door leads to a secluded, stone-walled courtyard with patio table & chairs for long summer evenings outdoors. The Chapel Room downstairs leads from the lounge area and accommodates couples or 2 singles. With wood beams and stone walls, this room has some unique features including circular window, granite post and Suffolk latch doors. Up the open staircase leading onto a 1st floor landing, the family bathroom benefits from luxury full hydrotherapy bath with spa jets, lighting and shower wand. Feature walls and beams, again make this a bathroom to spend time in. From the landing, the large master bedroom opens up to reveal the heritage of the Old Stables. Twisted oak beams, vaulted ceilings and complimentary antique furniture make for a truly romantic experience.
  • Charming and hidden cottage with beautiful entryway and stylishly decorated. Conveniently located at the eastern border of the moors.

    Rose2018-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cottage - loved all the details and thoughtful finishing touches. My wife and 2 young boys felt very cosy and tranquil in The Old Stables and our only wish was that we could have stayed longer to enjoy the serene homely space.

    Simon2017-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Stephen and his colleague Paul were fantastic, there were lots of little nice touches including a welcome basket. The property was very quiet, off street and the courtyard was lovely to eat in. Lots of maps and interesting (Website hidden by Airbnb) location, tricky to find in the dark as it is behind a courtyard door. Maybe we should have read the instructions better? All in all a fantastic stay at an interesting property. We went to go to Riverford field Kitchen which is nearby, also a fantastic venue.

  • We had a lovely time in Buckfast. So much so that we have decided to move down that way!!! Jo made our stay comfortable and we were very warmly welcomed despite Jo being so busy herself. She managed admirably! She made a lovely vegan flapjack for us. Loved the eco touches - the loo roll being a particular favourite! And we really liked not having a tv. We miss Bramble appearing at her door with her toy in her mouth inviting Flo (our dog) to play. The area is so peaceful. Thank you again Jo and Miles xx

  • Really loved my stay at Joanna's, she was a great host. The place was spacious and clean. It could really do with some net curtains for privacy, at least in the bedroom, which looks across into the lounge of the main house. Could do with a full length mirror too.
