Hoogwater Cottage is only 110km from Cape Town and is nestled under the majestic Witzenberg Mountains. The luxurious open plan cottage is on a working fruit farm and is fully equipped with all you need for an unforgettable stay.
There is a cosy fireplace with a basket of wood for cold winter evenings. The cottage also has a private plunge pool / wood fire hot tub.
  • Best weekend ever! Great spot, nice and secluded. Hot tub was awesome! Place has everything you need for a quiet weekend away. Clean, neat and modern. We LOVED IT! Thank you

    Joanne2016-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • The experience at Hoogwater was excellent. The cottage was well described online, easy to book. We arrived with keys there, and did not need to interact too much with the hosts. A single and relatively minor concern raised on day 2 was immediately attended to. The cottage is beautiful, the farm is beautiful, the experience is recommended. Thank you

    Kristian2016-05-02T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you for a wonderful stay, loved the hot tub & being out in the country.

    karien2016-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Great escape from the city, nice and private, amazing wood burning hot tub, fireplace inside, definitely coming back for the chilly season. The owner has just installed misters on the patio to cool you off in winter. Bring bug repellent though as it is on a working fruit farm.

  • Had an amazing stay on Hoogwater farm, thanks to Madri and family for providing extraordinary accommodation and making us feel right at home. The perfect place to break away from a busy life and relax and enjoy nature at its best. The cottage has got everything you need for an unforgetable stay. The hot tub was an absolute gamechanger, and the views all around is spectacular. Hoogwater farm will definitely see us again!

    Niel2016-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Madri was very informative and our stay was easy and super ! I recommend for a nice get-away week end !

    Antoine2016-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Had an amazing stay at the cottage! The hot tub is the best, paired with the amazing wine we received in the cottage. The view of the mountain while in bed was also fantastic! Could not have asked for more, or a better place to stay away from home. Can definitely recommend this place!!!

    MC2017-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • Hoogwater farm is a secluded, getaway gem. Madri and Charles were super hosts- very considerate of our privacy and very generous (with complementary delicious wine made on the farm) and other yummy goodies in the kitchen. we loved walking through the peach and pear orchards, braaing outside and lazing about on the deck at the dam. evenings spent blissfully admiring the stars from inside a hot jacuzzi. great way to spend the festive season!bear in mind it is a working farm so recommend bringing a fly-zapper and mosquito repellant.looking forward to out next visit!

Our Lodge in the Mount Bain Reserve is a rare gem waiting to be enjoyed by anyone who makes the short 1h20min trip from Cape Town. Includes a private river, grassy banks to picnic on all day and within minutes Wine Tasting, Kloofing, MTB'ing, Hiking
Brand new listing! Just over an hour from Cape Town and you can be in the most beautiful surroundings of Mount Bain Private Nature Reserve. The scenery quickly draws you in to the serenity of the Cape Mountains, vineyards and your very own crystal clear river to bliss out in. There are few locations in the Western Cape which remain relatively undiscovered by the local Capetonians. Rivers Own in the Mount Bain Reserve is, however, a rare gem waiting to be enjoyed.
It’s a surprise to many coming from Cape Town to so quickly be on the incredible Bain’s Kloof Pass and in these special mountains with fynbos walks, stretches of rapids, waterfalls and natural pools to adventure in, some of the best mountain bike trails in the country, and all the benefits of a special area which is part of the UNESCO Boland Mountain World Heritage region – keeping the area protected and in it’s most natural and unexploited state.
  • Rivers Own is a really special getaway - for family groups with kids or a group of friends. It's a beautiful spot on the river with ample en suite accommodation and many different areas to chill and 'kuier' - 3 separate fire places, a lot of grass for the kids to play and a great pool. The kitchen is very well kitted out and it has a big industrial size fridge and freezer for food and drinks. Great value for money - highly recommended!

    Nicola2017-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • An amazing property for a truly great weekend get a way. Property is well layed out physically sitting right on the river. Kitchen is really impressive and well stocked. Braai area also a great feature. House very comfortable and sleeps as many as advertised. Faan was a great host always in communication and eager to help with any questions we had.

    Michael2017-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Picturesque location. The river is right there and provides outstanding swimming. If that isn't enough there is a beach pool on your doorstep. The house is spotless and fully kitted out with everything you need. The linen is beautiful and the kitchen has a fantastic oven/stove. Faan is there for you if you need him and respects your privacy when you don't. He is helpful and laid-back. The views are quite breathtaking. Will definitely be back.

    Alice2017-04-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a wonderful time at Rivers Own. The house is so well located next to the river and is very well kitted out. The indoor fireplace was amazing in the evenings and it was great lying on the loungers next to the river in the warm afternoon sun. Faan was easy to communicate with and very helpful. I would highly recommend this place to large families or groups of friends!

    Nikky2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • I spent a fantastic 3 days at River's Own with family and friends. The house has everything you need including an enormous fridge and many touches like toys for the kids, soft towels, comfy beds, freshly picked lemons and an apron for the chef. It was amazing to swim in the clear river and swimming pool. Faan is a friendly and generous host! I would definitely return.

    Lisa2017-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • The lodge is located on the bottom of a scenic hill next to the banks of a clean purling river. Drinking water quality! Since the shower is run with these waters you don't need to care for water restrictions. The elegancy of the surroundings really outrivalled our expectations. We did a hike to a waterfall nearby and found a pictorial mountain bike track. At the end of the day we gathered at the open fire and enjoyed some glasses of the new bought red wine from a neighbouring winery. As there is a big natural shaped swimming pool, a dartbord and a green football pitch you'll find even more to enjoy yourself. When you're interested in nature and such activities you'll definitely love this place. The living room is spacious and cosy. As a matter of course everything is spotlessly clean. Faan and his family are very nice amiable people with a sense of humor. They were greatly helpful and we could easily work out a reasonable price for only three persons. It's a shame that we live so far away in Germany. We definitely would like to come back once in a while.

    Sabine2017-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Faan's place is a great location, right next to the river, with all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay. Faan is a fantastic host that was always available to contact. Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable weekend, we will definitely be back!

    Denham2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Faan is a very gratious and responsive host. A nice pool for lounging and right on a beautiful river bank. Plenty of space for the kids to run around and good braai facilities. We had a great time and looking forward to going there again.

  • We stayed in the Shiraz cottage. It was idealic. We enjoyed the rustic, relaxed feeling of the accommodation and the peace and quiet of the area was what we needed. Will definately be back.

  • we enjoyed our tay at Shiraz cottage. Very neat and tidy with a well equipped kitchen. Very praceful among the vineyards.

  • We stayed in the Shiraz cottage which had its own porch and fire-pit. The cottage itself is surrounded by beautiful vineyards and the views are amazing. The farm is very tranquil with beautiful surroundings. Amazing setting, surrounded by mountains and the most majestic views. The owners indeed have taken care to ensure that you have everything you need - and more. The complimentary crunchies and wine were divine. My daughter enjoyed playing with the friendly little Jack Russel, Trompie. The farm is very kids friendly. We received great service from the the start when the booking was made. Just a pity that the wine cellar was under construction as we would have loved to do a wine tasting.

  • Luxurious cottage in the middle of vineyards. We really enjoyed our stay. Everything was prepared for us. Can definitely recommend for anyone who want to relax in nature. Driveway is quite bumpy so not perfect for smaller cars but doable.

  • This place was touch of heaven, perfectly located in between the mountains. We went for a lovely ride around the farm. Its perfect for walks and a run or two. We most enjoyed the Turkish pool for a sundowner. The cottage wasn't missing a detail, beautifully decorated with all the small luxuries that make it a home away from home. Thank you Jacqui. We will definetly come back again.

    Sam2018-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Shiraz cottage, which was even more comfy than the pictures suggest. A real home away from home. Jacqui was out of the country when we were there but she organised a wine tasting for us with Louis, the farm manager. This was a lovely informal affair on the stoep with beautiful mountain views and, there were some delicious wines on offer. We had a wonderfully relaxing time visiting other places in the vicinity and doing lots of walking, reading and eating. Shiraz cottage gets a thumbs up from us!

  • Peaceful with a great host. Can not say enough good thing about this place!!

    Erik2018-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful place to catch your breath far away from the hustle and bustle! Set in the vineyards with breathtaking views onto the distant mountains, the cottages are just lovely. We were delighted with the special touches, which included a free bottle of the estate wine waiting for us in the fridge and some yummy homemade biscuits too. What impressed me most was how thorough and well-thought out the details were. Everything you need is there - wood, matches, firelighters, tea and coffee, salt and pepper, candles and even a fully-functioning load shedding kit should Eskom let you down. We loved our evening walks and rides on the farm amongst the vines and peach trees, and the cosiest most comfortable night's sleep we've had in years. I can't speak for the other cottages but ours, Shiraz, has the most luxurious free-standing bath which faces straight out across the vineyards and onto the mountains beyond - the perfect place for a cold glass of wine amidst the bubbles as the sun sinks below the horizon. We loved it all - thank you Jacqui, we can't wait to return!

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Seven Oaks. The cottage was spacious, clean and nicely decorated. It has the perfect patio to braai, with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. Jacqui was a great host and organised a private wine tasting for us on short notice. Thanks for a great stay!

  • Lovely cottages, highly recommend them. You really get the sense that a lot of love and care has been put into them and your experience there, Jacqui has considered every detail. Everything is super clean and in good condition (feels like new). It's very quiet and private, perfect for a relaxed getaway / escape from the hustle bustle.

    Annelize2015-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • One of the best experiences we've had on Airbnb. The cottage was delightful (actually, all 4 are) - with the hostess obviously putting a lot of personal effort and taste into them. This is a working farm - but I'm delighted to say that the rooster keeps it very laid-back - he crowed at 08:19 am - a huge relief :-) It's really lovely waking up in the middle of beautiful vineyard - pity we were in the early winter season and there were no grapes to pick. If this is your first experience in this area, I recommend taking a drive to the Slanghoek Valley - it is a most beautiful area and not very well promoted. From the farm exit, take a right turn, go down the road about 200 metres, and then turn left.

  • We had a lovely stay on the Seven Oaks farm. The cottages are newly renovated and beautifully decorated. Everything was perfectly neat and clean on our arrival. The farm was peaceful, our cottage was cosy and we were visited from time to time by a friendly little Jack Russell named Trompie. Jacqui was a friendly and welcoming host, we highly recommend staying at Seven Oaks!

  • My wife and I spent a quiet weekend in one of the cottages. You are literally in the vineyards with full mountain views. The kitchen is fully equipped with anything you would need. There is a lovely stoep and both an outdoor and indoor fireplace. Lots of personal touches - there was a bottle of wine waiting for us in the fridge, and my wife was given a card and another bottle of wine as a birthday gift. There were freshly baked biscuits and a bag of firewood. We just were sad that the Turkish baths were not yet ready.

  • Unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to meet Jacqui as she was out of town, but she was very accommodating when we were communicating via email. The area was really lovely, with exceptional views of the mountains and very, very peaceful! The cottage was very cosy and neatly presented. We felt very at home here.

  • What an incredible place!! Beautiful cottage in the middle of nowhere, so private!!! Loved every minute - can't wait to go back

    Sophie2016-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • The setting of this accommodation can not be more beautiful. We thoroughly enjoyed spending time in the vineyard with a mountain view. All necessary basics were supplied even candles for the 2.5 hr loadshedding that we experienced on the Saturday night. With no city lights or other houses within view, the dark can be something to get used to, especially during new moon. For me, it is a shame that we did not get to see/meet Jacqui as airbnb is based on connections and relationships built. However, I do know that many other people prefer it that way.

    Anneke2015-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • The location of the cottage made for a perfect quiet weekend getaway. The directions provided by Jacqui made it quite easy to find the farm. The views of the vineyards and mountains from the cottage and outdoor braai area is simply breathtaking. The cottage was fully equipped for self-catering with a modern personalised touch to it making for a comfy pleasant farm experience. We personally enjoyed the total privacy given to us. My personal highlights were birdwatching over breakfast on the veranda and the sunset over the mountains and vineyards whilst braaing. Ps. the wood provided was of the best braai wood I've ever come across.

    Faghrie2015-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Jacqui welcomed us and told us all about the farm. The cottage is very well equipped, spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable. There are barbecue facilities inside and outside. Lovely building details and the imaginative use of interesting and unusual materials and decorations make it a uniquely special place. There is a magnificent view from the covered patio of the vineyards and nearby mountains. A great place for a getaway. Lots of interesting things to do in the area.

  • We found Maryke and Rian to be warm and very hospitable. They welcomed us into their home. They went the extra mile in terms of making our stay comfortable. They will do well as hosts for Airbnb. We hope to return in summer to taste those pomegranates straight off the tree and have a swim in that lovely river.

This our our family’s private residence where we live most days. It is a large, old farm house with big entertainment areas high ceilings and three fireplaces. There is loads of space inside and out and a large enclosed play area with a big jungle gym and trampoline. The house is situated on a working wine and fruit farm and not in a municipal area. This means we don't have municipal water. Instead we have a borehole and reservoir that is filled regularly.

  • The Riverstone House was truly amazing. Everything was as promised and Candice was only a text away. The small thought through things like little emergency kits in the bathrooms with paracetamol, toothbrush, toothpaste, allergy meds etc I have not experienced before and just shows how welcome the host wants the guests to feel. Even details of local vets shared came in handy later on for our dog! We will def return.

  • Staying at the Riverstone house was a pleasure from the beginning to the end, in fact we felt very sad to leave. Walking in you are met with an immaculate kitchen, beautiful open plan living area with high ceilings and exposed beams and it all leads out onto a fantastic veranda where you are forced to while away your time with a book on the couch, listening to the wind in the trees next to the river. The kitchen even inspired me to bake a cake and I'm NO baker. Surrounded by nature it's a joy to wake up here - views for days! I'll be back soon. It's beautiful and great for mountaineering, swimming and chilling :) Thanks to the awesome staff for friendly service and great maintenance!

It shows they want everything to be perfect (although it didnt bother us at all). We could swim in the river, we slept great in their great beds. Highly recomended place to have a peacefull and relaxing time. Greetings Lisa
