Not as far from the central plaza as we thought! Stunningly beautiful setting. Benito arranged horse riding for us, magical time was had! Be aware that there are different caretakers there, so there are always people present (this could be because we were there on the weekend), but everyone was very friendly. It helped that I speak Spanish- if you don't, you may struggle a little. No provisions provided, other than some dried goods in a cupboard from previous tenants perhaps? we were shown how to work the hot water unit, were shown the keys to each area (kitchen is at the very end, the sitting room at the opposite, accessible only though going outside), there had been a pot burnt on the stove just before we arrived, and Benito apologised immediately for the very strong smell- this stuck around our whole stay, despite airing out the kitchen. The accomodation side of things was very basic, the bathroom didn't feel clean, with leftover bits of soap, old tubes of toothpaste and some dirty paper cups in the window sill. We used flip-flops in the shower, as I tried cleaning it but it was too big a job. From this perspective, in comparison to other accommodation in Ollantaytambo, it is overpriced. Washing machine seemed like too much of a hassle to drag out, connect to the water heater, gather water (the water ran dry), so we found a local laundry instead. However, the setting.... That is what makes this worthwhile! In the end, nothing beats the stunning paddock where the animals graze (just ask to see it, you may not think to wander out there), the field of pretty crops in front of the bedroom windows, and the rustic charm of the place. My husband couldn't sleep comfortably, as the double (full) size mattress wasn't very big ( he is tall) and had a noticeable dip on his side, and the rooms get dirty quickly due to all the dirt and animals being right outside. The smell didn't bother us, it just smells like a farm and horses. :-) The little dog Sussie is friendly and good with little kids. Benito is great and outgoing, but he had to leave to go somewhere, and since we didn't have wifi, nor cell phone access, we had no way of contacting him if we needed something, though everything was alright. If written information was provided on arrival (in English for those who don't have good Spanish) on certain practical matters, this would help immensely. Also be warned that as it is a working farm, you may be woken by clients as the door wanting their morning milk. We were up early, so the loud bell only woke me once. Consider this place an experience instead of a mid priced hostal. Will never forget the beautiful surrounds.

This is the most incredible place to stay in all of Ollantaytambo. I lived here for one month and I was incredibly sad to leave. I cannot say enough about how incredibly beautiful, peaceful, inspiring this wonderful house is. If you don't mind (or enjoy) waking up to the sounds of horses, cows, lambs, dogs and people laughing, in a valley thousands of feet deep, under Incan ruins, minutes from town but feeling so far from anywhere, this is the place for you. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Simply the best. I will be back as soon as possible.

My party arrived at ollantaytambo much later than expected, but Walter sent Benito to get us without a hitch. We had an extra bed set up and were offered tea in the kitchen. I couldnt ask for better service. All in all a very pleasant stay

After comparing this place to others in the area, I found that this place is not as clean or comfortable as most others. Also, it is quite overpriced for what it is.

At first I had a hard time finding a way to contact Walter once in Ollantaytambo (I couldn't get my cell phone to work), but the minute I got wifi he was able to send Benito to find us at the main plaza. Overall, the farm house was a truly wonderful experience. We managed with our broken spanish- the entire family welcomed us (I think it was the owner+Pascual's family). They showed us our rooms, even cooked us a delicious tipico meal (boiled potatos, cheese, corn, ham, steak, chicken) and gave us lots of coca tea. We felt very welcomed. The rooms were exactly what we needed- and the shower even had a water tank/controller and had lukewarm showers (like the rest of peru). There were insects, but that really can't be helped. Just make sure to have your screen up and wear bug spray/tea tree oil. I didn't get any bites from here. Joboca (the dog), and the other animals were lovely to watch. This place was the most peaceful part of our Peru trip, I would highly recommend this place to those open to staying on a little quiet farm, fresh air, lovely views all around. Do not expect luxury hotel furnishings, but instead a beautiful and highly eager to help family and modest settings. We loved it so much.

The moment we arrived, Benito found us at the main Square and showed us to the farm house. The farm house is a cozy, beautiful and peaceful place. Pascual lives there with his son and wife, a very friendly dog, a funny young lamb, 4 horses, 2 cows and chickens. They are wonderful and very helpful people (Pascual would fix any inconvenience as soon as possible) and we enjoyed a great stay.

An excellent stay at Walter's farm in Ollantaytambo. Walter was available always by phone and email with great advice and help when it was needed. Thanks for the help with Machu Picchu tips and advice. Benito and Pascual were ever helpful as well. Benito met us at the Plaza de Armas and took us to the farm. There was a small water problem that they set to and fixed straight away. And even at the end of our stay, Pascual was there at the Plaza getting us the cheapest ride back to Cusco. Thanks to Walter, Pascual and Benito for making our week in Ollantaytambo enjoyable and carefree. Definitely recommend staying there.
