Descrizione

The Elevator Hostel is a reference for hostelling in Lisbon, right next to the tracks of Lisbon's oldest elevator (Lavra) barely a couple hundred meters from metro stop Restauradores and in the best of central locations where every attraction is.

You may have heard about Lisbon’s special light. The Elevator Hostel is the case in point, with a wealth of windows offering different angles of the city, it is all about light.
In a century old building that has been totally redone last year, we offer a number of comfy cosy areas for your benefit. The ground floor lounge, at street level, the top floor lounge with its long awesome balcony where breakfast and dinner are served, the attic mezzanine where even the height of the room suggests you should lay down and relax…

Accommodation was thought to suit different expectations. There are doubles and twins (also ensuite) and shared six and eight bedded rooms.
Every bed is at least 200 cm long, every light bulb is an energy efficient LED, every drop of hot water comes from the solar panels, every (shared room) bed has its locker, its reading light, power pod and USB charger. There are plenty of hooks and hangers and neat coffee bean sack puffs for you to relax on the beautiful original wooden floor board.
You get keycard access to both front door and your room, bed linen is provided free of charge and so is an extended hours breakfast. There is wi-fi throughout the building and the communal kitchen is open 24H. All set in an ambiance that is quintessentially Lisbon.
The staff is young multilingual, friendly dedicated and knowledgeable, as you’ll be able to confirm it yourself.

From the airport: take the RED line to its final stop. Change to the BLUE line and jump off the train at the fourth stop, Restauradores. Take the exit nearer the back of the train and follow the signs ‘elevador’ to the surface. Walk to the traffic light and cross the large avenue. Continue straight ahead and you find yourself in Largo da Anunciada (small piazza of sorts) where you can spot the funicular. Follow its tracks, up to The Elevator Hostel. Do not take the funicular (yet) as it does not have intermediate stops. Our door is on your left hand side.
From the Oriente train station: take the RED line to its final stop. Do as above.
From the Entrecampos train station: take the YELLOW line to Marquês de Pombal. Change to the BLUE line and jump off the train at the fourth stop, Restauradores. Do as above.

The Elevator Hostel’s location is very special. It is spot right in the centre of Lisbon and yet you feel the atmosphere of the neighbourhood: real people, real shops, great photo angles and plenty of greenery at the park just behind. It is pleasant and quiet yet everything is easily accessible either walking or by public transportation. The Bairro Alto, is right across the avenue, on the other hill facing your bedroom window, close enough to make it a pleasant walk.

Probably one of the worst hostels I have stayed in in Portugal. The staff was unfriendly, the room was way to hot so we had to open the windows, which meant that we woke up at 7 am because the train is directly stationed in front of the hostel. It was really annoying. The bathroom was not clean, neither the sheets for our bed which smelled like sweat and the cutlery wasn't clean either. Sorry elevator hostel but this stay was awful and I do not recommend staying there!

Cute location, nice common spaces. We thought we had booked a large single bed but it turned out it was 2 different bunk beds in a room of 8 beds. Our mistake-but it was unclear from the photos and information that this was what had happened. So just be aware of what you are booking. Overall though we had a nice stay.

Great breakfast and atmosphere! We had a very comfortable and affordable experience, the situation of the hostel is almost impossible to hone! Totally recomended!
