Fancy a cappuccino or a glass of wine on a huge terrace, looking out at the most beautiful mountain view? This traditional Italian townhouse in a beautiful mountain village is for rent and also for sale - a piece of the real Italy with easy access to beach/skiing/hiking!
Come to our gorgeous Italian townhouse in the stunningly pretty village of Palombaro in the Majella National Park. It continues to be the most amazing and unspoilt location and we love it so much that we got married here last year. You honestly de-stress the minute you arrive, and so we are looking for some lovely people who would like to rent our house when we're not here. We're actually also looking to sell our house - not because we don't adore it but because our family has another house nearby - so please do get in touch if that's of interest too!
It's a really lovely, large townhouse, retaining all the original character, but as it's our private house rather than a 'posh' holiday let, it's got a few quirks here and there (e.g. some of the furniture is Italian retro stuff) so it would suit people who are looking for a lovely, unpretentious place to stay for a decent price.
We've got wi-fi that works really well so you can stream movies etc on your devices, and we've got a fully-equipped modern kitchen with dishwasher, hob, oven and microwave. We've also got a washing machine and the heating system is very efficient, making the house really toasty if you come in winter.
The bedrooms are all large (the master is absolutely HUGE and has a view onto the mountain), with good quality king size or double beds. We also have two more single collapsible beds (think camp-bed type but with proper mattresses and bed height) that can be used to make the house suitable for 8 people (one of these beds could easily be put up in two of the bedrooms - for a child to join their parents, or for three adults to share - as there's loads of space; the third bedroom has the cot in it). We have a lovely wooden cot that would work as a bed (you can put the sides down) for a child of up to 2-3 years old, in one of the bedrooms.
The terrace is really fantastic and is huge; we've got the only terrace along our street so you're not lying next to people on the 'next terrace', as it were! The view is what makes it special though. The views are all great in this region, but ours is jaw-dropping because you literally walk out onto the terrace and the mountain is so close, it towers in front of you and is unbelievably majestic - you can stand for ages gazing out at it. There's nothing better than having breakfast on the terrace with a cappuccino and a croissant or some bread, ham and cheese, or lunch out there with a huge plate of amazing pasta, salad and a glass (or three!) of the local incredible montepulciano wine. The terrace is also safe - it's enclosed by railings so children can't fall off and we've got sun loungers and a huge hanging umbrella to provide plenty of shade, whether that's for eating or just sunbathing.
You'll need a car to get around but Palombaro has a few mini supermarkets within walking distance, plus a chemist and a butcher so you could easily hang around here and get food on foot if necessary. There's a little bar 2 minutes away, serving lovely coffees with a table tennis table at the back - hours of fun! The beach is 30-40 mins drive and it's approximately 45-50 minutes' drive from Pescara airport.
This region is a foodie heaven and the prices are really cheap. There are loads of amazing restaurants nearby and there is a big supermarket within about 10 mins drive; we can give you all the coordinates to put in your sat nav so you can find the best places straight away. The area has a huge amount of historical places to visit too, and for winter visitors there are many ski resorts in the area, with Abruzzo skiing being among the cheapest and best out there - apparently it's because the Italians go to these places so they aren't touristy and so the prices match!
Please do get in touch with any questions - we speak English, Italian, French and can get our friend to help us with German. So come and share our piece of Abruzzo - we'd love to have you!
You can access the whole house - we'll have shut our things away in some closets and also we always leave some packaged food in the kitchen cupboards, but there is plenty of space for your stuff!
Interazione con gli ospiti
We are always at the end of the phone or you can (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN)/facetime/(SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) us using the wifi there (phone signal is a bit iffy in the village as it's in the mountains, but you can just about get some from a couple of spots in the house!). Any problems you can call us and we will sort them out. We speak Italian fluently and also French.
Please leave the house as you find it and if you use any of the packaged food that you find in the cupboards, please replace it.
Hi everyone! I'm a psychologist and I live and work in England, in Buckinghamshire and London. I'm married to Adrian, who is an independent financial advisor and we have two cats and two horses - we are real animal lovers.
Adrian has always had a love affair with Italy and I speak fluent Italian, so having a house in Abruzzo seems like a natural choice for us - we love it there and never fail to be impressed by those stunning views.
Please do message me any time and I'll get right back to you!
