Leiden has one of the greatest historivcal inner city's. A walk across the city will make you familiar with a rich past. The dukes of Holland lived there. Gravensteen, Pieterskerk en Burcht do remember those days. We expect that the City rights are from before 1222. Leiden is also well known because of the university with the Academiegebouw on the Rapenburg, the Hortus Botanicus, and lots of musea such as Oudheden, Volkenkunde en Naturalis. But Leiden is also actual. Leiden was build on the left river side of the (old) Rhine, where als the both rivers Mare en Vliet came together. The canals and rivers in the city makes the unique opertunity to realise many reataurants and terrasses on the water on boats, and near the waterside.
