Cozy, warm room in home on beautiful Long Cove on Deer Isle, Maine. Bring boat and launch and swim from property! Bedroom and bath separate from host's living space. Breakfast included, local and organic.

Modern cozy house with large decks facing saltwater cove. Large southern glass exposures bring passive solar warmth in winter, sea breezes in summer. Wood stove, art, piano, pets. A true New England, eco-friendly home experience!

Private bedroom, separate bath and shower. Shared kitchen.

Friendly working writer on premises. Self-serve breakfast provided by 7 am in kitchen for your convenience. We are not a gluten-free household but strive to provide options. We respectfully ask that dishes be left in the dishwasher after use, and trash placed in compost, trash, and recycle bins.

Rural Deer Isle, Maine living is a throwback to a gentler era in which all neighbors know and support each other, there are no traffic lights on the island, and no chain stores/billboards/commercial advertising of any kind. Stonington Harbor is Maine's busiest commercial lobster fishery with 300+ independently owned and operated small fishing vessels making it their home. Stonington is also home to Maine's largest Farmers' Market, and Maine is home to the first statewide organic farming association, MOFGA founded in 1970. When you come over our 1939 bridge across Eggemoggin Reach you get away to a different world.

This is a country setting without public transportation. You will need a car (although road biking is also possible). Island and trail maps available.

Our golden doodle, Jack, will bark upon your arrival but it is in delight. The cat, Olive, will choose to sleep with you if you leave your door open! Thank you for keeping outside doors to the house as found. The room contains a small library of Maine-related fiction and nonfiction which you are welcome to peruse while here. Boats on site are privately owned and not for guest use.

I rented Judith's cottage for a month last summer and fell in love with Deer Isle. Staying in her home for a week was just what I needed. Judith is a great host, attentive and available. Both Owl's Wing and the cottage on Long Cove merit a long stay.

Judith's Owl Room was wonderful. Her house is very clean and quiet. The dogs and cat were fun to play with. Judith is a great host. The local fresh yogurt and bread were a nice touch.

Judith is an excellent host. She was very eager to help us feel welcome and comfortable. Her spot is beautiful, with a huge deck looking out over field and apple trees to Long Cove. Highly recommended!

The house and the yard are really lovely. Judith arranged a good and simple breakfast. She gave us good tips on how best to enjoy Deer Isle. It was a perfect experience for us, and we hope to stay there again in the future.

We were very pleased with our stay! The location was exactly what we had hoped for. Remote and still close by to Acadia which was the reason for our trip. Judith was great with keeping in touch. We definitely would consider staying here again.

I'm a writer working on a large new project after having recently retired as the founding Artistic Director of our island's local theater, Opera House Arts at the Stonington Opera House. I spend much of my day writing, cooking, or working in the many gardens surrounding the house. I'm a quiet host who will give you all the space, independence, and quiet time you need -- but am still here for questions on the local community and area. I'm a huge fan of the new Elena Ferrante Neopolitan novel series, and for 15 years I was the booker and film projectionist of movies at the Opera House. I'm a big believer in clean, home-cooked food and buy almost 100% of what we eat here from local farms.
