Su questo annuncio

At the heart of Cape Town in the vibrant and historic Bo-kaap district a design orientated home with 360 degree views of Cape Town from the roof and pool. It is walking distance from many restaurants and shops and has free parking outside of the house.

While the exterior of the home retains the traditional feel of the neighborhood the interior of the house has been completely reinvented. The house was designed with a minimalist and purposeful approach to space. There is a vertical garden with 3,000 plants spanning the three floors of the house alongside the alleyway. The floor-to-ceiling glass creates a beautiful contrast between the vertical garden and the house's steel and concrete structures.

Accesso ospiti

There is a fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher and washing machine. Guests will have access to the square in front of the house for free parking. The roof has a Webber for having a traditional South African braai and a pool to cool off while enjoying the full views Table Mountain, Signal Hill, and the city bowl of Cape Town.

Interazione con gli ospiti

We are in town for most of the year. If we are overseas or outside of Cape Town for some reason we will arrange our housekeeper to greet guests and assist with any queries.

Your Guide to IIIA Chiappini:

Welcome to our home! We hope that you’ll enjoy your stay, and the beautiful city of Cape Town. There is so much to do, and you’re within walking distance from some of the best parts (more about those later).

This document is a guide to how things work in our house. We hope that you’ll find everything you need, and more.

The Alarm

Attached to your key is the remote for turning it on and off. Once you’re out of the front door, press and hold the red button to turn it on (the light will flash red). To deactivate, press and hold the green button. Don’t stress, it’s a safe area, we’ve never had a break-in. You can walk out and back home, even at night.

The alarm is linked to ADT armed response. The password is the same as for the wifi.

The Lights

See the diagramme below. There are two main switch boards – one at the front door and one next to the bathroom. Most are on dimmers. Press and hold to increase brightness and keep holding to dim. The most important lights are definitely the garden lights; at night these bring the whole house to life!

The Wifi

We will send the password in a message on Airbnb (as its also the security code); the network is IIIA. and IIIA.EXT (downstairs). If for some reason the router needs resetting, it’s on the top right side if the main bedroom cupboards.

Electricity is on a prepaid meter, as is standard in South Africa. We have loaded the meter with plenty, but just in case it runs out - you can buy electricity at most petrol stations and supermarkets. You need the meter number which is beside the microwave.

The Skylight

We love chilling on the roof, day and night and eat most meals there in summer. Access is through the skylight above the second staircase. Turn the key on the right side till the pin pops out. Grab the handle and push up slowly. Once fully open, you can open the little glass door. When you close the skylight, always close the little glass door first or the frame of the skylight will close onto it and bend.

The Pool and Roof Terrace

The pool is heated, which is great for night swimming. Attached to the wall above the pump is the temperature dial. Turn it clockwise to switch it on. It takes about 4 hours to reach maximum heat. The pump must be on while the heater works or it will burn out; push the “manual” button on the timer to activate it (be sure to put it back onto “auto” afterwards or it won’t come on to clean the water).

There is a light switch in the mini switchboard which is great for at night. There is also a white pot/floor lamp which lights up when plugged in beside the cooker.

Cushions for the benches are stored in the cupbards of the spare bedroom. Simply lift the seat (store in plastic in case it rains)

Faith is our housekeeper. She comes on Wednesday at 9am-ish and has her own key. She will do the dishes and generally clean and tidy (she can do some of the washing/ironing if you ask her to). We pay her a salary, but you are welcome to tip her should you wish to. If you would prefer not to have her come or have her come on different days/time please let us know.

The Garden

Our vertical garden is still establishing itself (we only finished building and moved in 2015). Irrigation is on a timer located outside of the kitchen. You don’t have to worry about it, we have a maintenance contract with a company called Living Green Walls that come every second week. If they turn up we would appreciate you letting them do their work. They are scheduled for days that Faith is there so you do not need to worry about letting them in or out of the house.

Don’t watch TV, go out! :) But if you do, you are welcome to use our Mac and TV. We will send you the password. We aren’t linked to cable, we use the internet to stream series/movies. We also have a hard drive attached to the Mac Mini which has series and movies on it which you're welcome to use.

Some Tips

Here’s a short list of some of our favorite bars and restaurants in the immediate area. Having said that, nothing is further than 10min in a taxi. Bree street which is just down the hill is Cape Town’s best street for bars and restaurant. Most are towards the right side, a few blocks up.

Clarkes – by far our favourite, modeled on a New York diner, and the closest

Jasons – Delicious, fantastic pastries. They're open very early. Perfect for breakfast AND lunch.

The Company’s Garden – a little further – about 10 minutes walk – but amazingly set in the oldest gardens in South Africa.

Bocca – just two blocks away – fantastic pizza and amazing tapas. Great service!

Chefs Warehouse – chef school, limited menu and you can’t book (go at 6pm) but the food is great.

Biesmielah – your closest restaurant. Sample the traditional cape malay cooking. We get takeaways all the time.

On Kloof (the other great restaurant street) – you need to book.

Carne – Best steak!

Café Paradiso – Great terrace, tasty food, and great if you have kids (they have activities for the kids)

Black Sheep – Unusual and delicious dishes. Fantastic atmosphere.

The Duchess of Wisbeech in Sea Point is one of our favourite restaurants in Cape Town and full of fun people.

Clarkes again. A winner!

The Secret Gin Bar. You MUST go. On Wale street (just around from Clarkes) is a chocolatier called Honest Chocolate. Walk all the way through the chocolatier into a courtyard and enjoy some of the finest gin cocktails imaginable.

Tjing Tjing. A great rooftop bar; always a good party

Orphenage. Fantastic cocktails and a dance floor.

Yours Truly. Another great rooftop bar on Kloof

For dancing, go to Era or to Vice City. Dirty tunes ; - )

There is so much to do, and this is not a guide to Cape Town. But please do a walking tour of the Bo-Kaap (your area) which is free from the Bo Kaap museum on Wale. It’s a unique place.

Craig and Christian were great hosts who were very easy to communicate with and organise our arrival/departure time. The rooftop terrace is to die for! We spent many of our afternoons and evenings in the heated plunge pool reading a book and enjoying a glass of wine with views of the city and Table Mountain. The Cape Town Guide prepared by Craig and Christian featured some great places to eat and drink. Their home is within very close proximity to Cape Towns best restaurants and bars so we made little use of the car we hired for breakfast and dinners. The house is spotless courtesy of Faith the lovely housekeeper and as a lover of interior design and architecture, staying there was an experience in itself.

One of the nicest Airbnbs we've ever stayed in! The Bo Kaap area was perfect, so cool, and close to everything! Christian and Craig were ideal hosts -- and their place is even better in person. Highly recommend for anyone traveling to Cape Town!

A very stylish and well presented house, with everything you would need if you wanted to spend your time lounging around and enjoying the space, or heading out each day, using the house as a base, and coming home to its very welcome cool interior at the end of each day. The area is the current tourist must see in Cape Town, so each day you leave you will see bus loads of tourists, though they are kept just far away enough to be an interest rather than a nuisance. Lots of great cafes and restaurants within a very short walk, and Craig and Christian's notes have great suggestions for places to eat and drink - very current. The Terrace at the top of the house is the best place for just sitting out and enjoying the views and the breeze. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in the heart of Bo Kaap - the area is lively, friendly and safe, and the people very welcoming.

We had a great time at this modern house right in the lively Bo Kaap Quarter. If you don't want to drive all the time, this is the right place as one can walk down to tons of bars and restaurants. Craig and Christian have been very accommodating and within minutes we felt like being home.

This was a really enyjoyable Airbnb experience. We stayed for one week in this nicely designed house and we felt extremely comfortable all the time. Especially the neighborhood is just awesome and in a perfect location near to shops, nightlife and much more. The host was very nice and gave us all the information we needed about the house. Their housekeeper Faith is also super friendly and helpful. Thank you!

Nous avons adoré le mur végétal ainsi que la terrasse sur le toit offrant une vue imprenable sur Table Mountain. La literie est extrêmement comfortable.
