Japanese villa TAKE is built in traditional Japanese style, and outfitted with modern appliances for your everyday needs (TV,AC, Washing machine, Wifi). We hope you can regard it as your home away from home while you enjoy all Kyoto has to offer.
There are three spacious rooms for you to decide which will be the bedrooms, and which the living room. The kitchen is fully equipped and the rooms have AC/heating to face both the hot Kyoto summers and its chilly winters. In the back, there is a little zen garden built by Mr Shimamoto, and the art around the house, curated by Mrs Shimamoto, changes with the seasons. We hope you enjoy this unique piece of Kyoto culture during your stay at TAKE.

My name is Yifen. I have lived in Kyoto for a year and am now helping Mr and Ms Shimamoto welcome you in one of their two lovely Japanese traditional townhouses near Kyoto Station.
The two houses have been completely renovated this summer (August 2015), and Ms Shimamoto has carefully re-done the decoration, selecting some beautiful art and objects from the region. As in all traditional Japanese households, she will be changing them according to the seasons.
Mr Shimamoto is retired and has a passion for Japanese gardens. The two zen patios behind the houses are his own creations.
While there is no doubt you will enjoy your stay at Ume and Take machiyas, I will hopefully be able to add to this experience by giving you some of the best advice on sightseeing, eating out, shopping in Kyoto as well as answer any questions you might have about Kyoto!
