Le Mas is a characterful 5-star farmhouse with private swimming pool, summer kitchen, & glorious views. A perfect home from home, full of original beams, fireplaces and thick stone walls.
Go completely Dordogne in this renovated farmhouse from the 16th century which offers you 5-star discreet luxury and understated style, with 5 bedrooms (each with their own bathroom) and a fantastic summer kitchen which looks out over the private swimming pool, fields and woods.
Le Mas has thick stone walls, wooden beams and huge fireplaces. It has been completely renovated in 2016 by interior designer Joris van Grinsven who respected the history and character of the building but brought it into the 21st century.
The large well-equipped kitchen (55m²) is the centre of the house, great for family meals where 12 people can sit comfortably around the table. The centuries-old larder and stone evier (basin) built into the exposed stone walls just add to the character of the kitchen. It is well-equipped with: a Smeg cooker with 5 gas burners and large electric oven; Samsung dishwasher and washing machine; a Siemens fridge freezer; and a Nespresso machine and Aeroccino milk frother.
The terracotta floor tiles lead to the living room (44m²), which like the kitchen has exposed beams, an enormous fireplace with a wood burner (wood provided) and doors leading outside to the pool and summer kitchen. There are 3 large comfortable sofas and plenty of games and books to enjoy.
If you want to catch up on the news or watch a film there is a flat screen satellite TV with English channels. There is a portable speaker which you can hook your phone, tablet or laptop to via Bluetooth.
Two bedrooms are on the ground floor at opposite ends of the house, each with two single beds and en suite bathrooms with showers. One of these bedrooms is wheelchair accessible, as is the majority of the rest of the ground floor and outside area. The other three bedrooms are accessed via two staircases. The first staircase leads to a double-aspect bedroom and en suite bathroom with shower. The main staircase goes from the kitchen up to the two large gabled master bedrooms (33m² and 23m²).
The master bedrooms have wooden floors, beautiful original beams and are light and bright. Windows have views to the fields and woods beyond, being the perfect lookout for deer, birds of prey and wild boars. Both master bedrooms have large en suite bathrooms with showers and free-standing baths.
Opposite the kitchen is the covered summer kitchen (65m²). Originally a barn, it still retains the roof but is partly open on three sides, affording you shade and a cool breeze. There is a small kitchen area with sink, fridge and a Weber 3 burner gas barbecue (gas provided). A large dining table, 12 chairs and comfortable seating make it the perfect setting for long lunches, escaping the sun or spending time together late into the night, with atmospheric lighting.
There are games to play in the garden (table tennis, boules, swingball, badminton rackets and shuttlecocks, children’s croquet) and the pool to enjoy. The 9 x 4 meter pool has a deep and a shallow end, with steps down into the water for easy access (no awkward ladder). It’s positioned to take in the view over the fields and woods beyond, so lie back on the sun loungers and deck chairs and enjoy it! If you are seeking solitude there are several private spots in the garden. The pool is not heated, and for that reason is closed from November to May.
We are delighted that Le Mas has been awarded 5 stars by the Dordogne Perigord Tourist Board, on behalf of the Ministry of Tourism. There are only 15 other hotels and gites in the Dordogne with 5 stars. The classification is based on the facilities, space, state of the accommodation and information we offer guests. The Daily Telegraph has been to stay in order to review us and has awarded us 9/10, the highest mark they have given any hotel or holiday home in the Dordogne.
You have private access to the whole house, to the summer kitchen and swimming pool, and to a large part of the garden.

Altre cose da evidenziare
There are 3 houses on the property, Le Mas, Le Mazet and our home – a converted tobacco barn. You’ll pass the tobacco barn before reaching the parking bays and Le Mas, with Le Mazet beyond it. Each house has a private garden.
We provide goose-down duvets in the double bedrooms, but there are also anti-allergy duvets available. All the bed linen is 100% Egyptian cotton, and the towels are also pure cotton. We also provide towels for the pool. For longer stays the bed linen and towels are changed weekly.
There are lots of fruit trees in the garden, please help us by helping yourselves! Pear, apple, nectarine, cherry, figs, medlar, walnut and hazelnut, whatever takes your fancy.
Sorry, not pets and no smoking.

When I was 25 I moved from England to Amsterdam and ran my own antique shop for 5 years before going on to be the head of fundraising for the Dutch breast cancer charity. After 15 years as an Amsterdammer I decided to swop one UNESCO Heritage Site for another, and moved to the Dordogne in 2015!
After moving, the renovations of Le Mas and Le Mazet started immediately, keeping all the character of the houses but making them lighter, brighter and much more comfortable. At the beginning of the property is an old barn once used for drying tobacco, which is now my home. It's separate to Le Mas and Le Mazet, offering you complete privacy.
I love the history and the charm of Le Mas & Le Mazet, and the beautiful countryside all around it, with all the wildlife, peace and tranquility it offers. This part of France is not only beautiful, but has exemplary food and wine, culture and history. And I'm dealing in antiques again, so if you want to know where the best brocantes and flea markets are, just ask!
