Overall, Ed's place is in a great location if you aim to explore Philly or need a place to stay with convenient access to University City. I stayed here for a month and had no issues getting around on my own, even at night. There is plenty of security and I always felt fairly safe.
I did however, have a few issues with the apartment. The kitchen cabinets were a little dirty and while the Airbnb description said that the place had a 'full kitchen', when I arrived there were no kitchen utensils in sight (aside from a couple of pieces of cutlery). I contacted Ed, the host, and within a few days he brought some utensils so that I could cook a few meals. There was no ventilation in the kitchen so I was limited, for the most part, to using the oven.
During my stay I also had some issues with the communication between Ed and I. For example, when the TV stopped working and Ed said he'd drop in one afternoon to replace it, he didn't. He never messaged to suggest an alternate time, he just showed up unannounced later in the evening (say around 8pm). On another occasion, when I asked him to take a look at the wifi, he again didn't come when he said he would but instead showed up with a guy (who was apparently another tenant) to exchange my new TV for his old one. At no point before their arrival was I: a) told he would be stopping in with someone so late in the day; and b) asked whether it would be ok to exchange the TV.
In short, the apartment works for a short stay especially if you're not too concerned with cooking and don't mind having a host that shows up unannounced to fix things.
