Robin and her husband are wonderful hosts! We loved that the location was just on the edge of town, which afforded convenience and quiet.
The room was clean, spacious and very comfortable. Breakfast was a hit, with homemade coffee cake, individual quiches (with bacon or without) and fresh fruit. Coffee snobs can rest easy, because it’s all done right here. Robin’s husband Lee was laid back and amiable, and we chatted with him while we ate. He relayed the interesting history of the Victorian house and how they came to reside there.
The internet was a little sketchy, perhaps because of the rain, but we were happy to take a break from our screens in any case. We fell in love with their little dog, Holmes, who sat in our laps on the porch swing. We also took day trips to explore San Saba and other areas.
They hold weddings here and the grounds are certainly picturesque. The property is well maintained and we enjoyed exploring on the little trail (with Holmes leading the way). Our goal was to relax and that we did. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Markward Manor to anyone visiting the beautiful Hill Country.
