~We have 3 cats and 1 dog; although we vacuum thoroughly between each guest, and keep the pets out of our guest bedroom, staying at our home is not advised for people with cat or dog allergies.
~Early to bed; early to rise...This is our normal pattern. We're fairly quiet folks, but you may hear us doing early morning chores and getting ready for work.
~We have solar panels which provide about 80% of our electricity needs.
~We also have solar hot water.
~We do a lot of cooking, including meat a few times a week. There will often be the aroma of good home-cooked food wafting about the house.

Bedroom: Our guest bedroom is for your private use.
Bathroom: The guest bathroom is mainly for your use, but friends and relatives who are visiting during the day or overnight are also welcome to use this bathroom.
Kitchen: Your are welcome to use our kitchen for light cooking and food prep. However, we have no microwave. Small amount of fridge/freezer space is available.
Screened-in porch: This is space we share with guests.
Front living room: This is also space we share with guests.

My partner and I live right here in the house, so we are often available to fill you in about local attractions and recommendations and answer any questions you may have. We also may be available for conversation and socializing; we often enjoy chatting with our guests while sharing a pot of coffee or tea.

We live in one of the historical neighborhoods in Charlottesville. We are a short walk from the historic downtown area and the Downtown Pedestrian Mall, ""A dynamic place where history is intertwined with a thriving city center, this vibrant historic district is full of live theater, music and cinema. Enjoy the limitless dining choices and shops, all located along seven blocks of brick- and tree-lined streets once strolled by Jefferson, Madison and Monroe." The oldest house in Charlottesville is right around the corner and the land on which our house is situated used to be part of "The Farm":
"The Farm stands on a 1020-acre tract acquired by Nicholas Meriwether in 1735 and later owned by Col. Nicholas Lewis, uncle of Meriwether Lewis. A building on the property likely served as headquarters for British Col. Banastre Tarleton briefly in June 1781. In 1825, Charlottesville lawyer and later University of Virginia law professor, John A. G. Davis, purchased a portion of the original tract and engaged Thomas Jefferson's workmen to design and build this house. It is considered one of the best surviving examples of Jeffersonian residential architecture. Maj. Gen. George A. Custer occupied the house as his headquarters for a brief time in March 1865." ~from the historical marker; our house is right across the street from the house mentioned on this marker.

Parking: We have free on-street parking in front of and beside our house.

Walking: We are easy walking distance from Charlottesville downtown historic district and the Downtown Pedestrian Mall:
"A dynamic place where history is intertwined with a thriving city center, this vibrant historic district is full of live theater, music and cinema. Enjoy the limitless dining choices and shops, all located along seven blocks of brick- and tree-lined streets once strolled by Jefferson, Madison and Monroe."

Public Transportation: We are three blocks from the main bus line.

Logan's home was a comfortable place to stay for a night during my visit to Charlottesville. She is an excellent communicator and was nice enough to accommodate my cooking in her kitchen. There's even a mini fridge for guest use. Lots of sweet pets that don't invade the guest room. 13 minute walk to market street market (where I got some ingredients). All-in-all a homey place to stay.

I could not recommend Logan's place more. She and Anna are SO kind and accommodating :D My husband and I had their place booked back in November for our trip yesterday but my father and sister decided last minute that they wanted to join us in Charlottesville...and delegated the task of finding accommodation to me -_- Anyway, after searching tons of hotels and any kind of accommodation I could find, I finally resorted to asking Logan if they had any recommendations. They so so so so so kindly offered up their extra room that they usually have for their grandchildren!!!! It is SO lovely - the breeze comes through their house perfectly which kept us cool and comfortable. We cannot sing Logan and Anna's praises more - they are WONDERFUL people and hosts and you would not have as great of an experience in Charlottesville without meeting them!

Logan's home is in a charming historic neighborhood close to Charlottesville's downtown shopping and artistic center. It's safe, quirky and quiet. It's the type of place where you get the true Air Bnb experience of getting to know your host and the town through their eyes! We had great conversation with Logan over coffee and tea. Very friendly cat and pup! We would definitely come back and stay with Logan again!

CURRENT MISSION: Simplicity and ease

ABOUT ME:
Originally from Buffalo, New York, I moved to VA in 1983 to live in an intentional community called Twin Oaks. I lived there for 16 years, doing economic planning, hammock-weaving, forestry, cooking, child-care, and many other activities to fulfill my work quota. Since moving to Charlottesville in 1999, my primary money-making occupation has been nonprofit accounting for a few great organizations, the most recent being Local Food Hub. I am currently transitioning to offering community-based workshops in Alexander Technique, urban permaculture, community-building, and strategies for simple living. I live with one other woman (Ann), one dog (Gerry), and three cats (Saffy, Bella, Dolly).

PHILOSOPHY: Live simply and fully, be kind to all (including myself!)

Interests: People, community, permaculture, Alexander Technique, reading, growing my own food, food processing (yogurt, butter, cheese, jams, dehydrating ...), Buddhism, meditation, partner juggling, learning new things, spending time with friends & family.
