Descrizione

L'alloggio

Our recently renovated Vermont cottage is a perfect weekend getaway. Upstairs in the sleeping loft, you’ll find a quiet retreat with queen sized bed surrounded by bookshelves, and the nook with an extra long twin bed. On the main level, there is a fully-equipped kitchen, dishwasher, countertop bar with stools, table, and bathroom with funky copper tub and shower. Four steps down brings you to the sitting room where we recommend the comfy sofa as a great reading or lounging spot with full southern exposure. The south facing bay window and cushion seat doubles an additional single bed. Bay window has peaceful views out to the pond and woodlands.

Accesso ospiti

The cottage sits on the same property as the main house, but is a separate structure and is completely private. We have 2 acres with a small pond, brook, woods, a short trail, and with gorgeous Vermont walking and hiking trails nearby. In winter, bring your cross country skis; there are incredible groomed trails one mile from our house in the village center. We have snowshoes you can borrow- just ask! We are 25 minutes to Grafton Ponds nordic ski and snowshoe area as well. While the surroundings are rural, we live on a paved road, accessible in all seasons and just a short drive into Putney.

We are happy to share with you recommendations for local restaurants or you can cook in the cottage kitchen with full fridge, oven, and gas cooktop. Within one mile of our house is an organic dairy farm, an organic produce farmstand, and an artisanal, family-run sheep farm which produces renowned sheep cheeses. Nearby Putney, Brattleboro, and Walpole all have thriving weekend farmer’s markets during the summer season.

Interazione con gli ospiti

We are a busy family with three boys; ages 7, 9, and 3 months. We can be around to help you or we can give you space. We want you to feel at home!

Il quartiere

We live in a gorgeous, rural setting yet very close to the rich outdoor and arts scenes that Putney, Westminster West, and Brattleboro offer. The cottage is located just 5 miles to downtown Putney where you’ll find the Putney Food Co-op, The General Store, the West Hill Bike Shop (mountain bike and x-country ski/snowshoe rentals). Check out our local orchard, Green Mountain Orchards, where you can pick-your-own blueberries, raspberries, plums, pears, peaches, and apples. They also sell delicious homemade pies and cider donuts. For outdoor enthusiasts, we are close to ski mountains- under an hour to Mt. Snow, Stratton, Magic Mountain, Bromley, and Okemo. Wake up early and be the first on the slopes! We live on a paved road (no problems in winter or mud season!). We are 9 miles to the quintessential village of Saxton’s River, 10 miles to Walpole, New Hampshire, 15 miles to Brattleboro, and 13 miles to Grafton. Under 10 minutes to The Putney School, Greenwood School, Landmark College, and Vermont Academy.

Un giro nei dintorni

There is no public transportation here, but lots of great biking, hiking, running, & skiing!

Altre cose da evidenziare

The cottage loft stairs are steep and are not recommended for young children. That said, we love hosting families if you and your children are comfortable navigating the open loft space and stairs. Let us know if you'd like us to leave out children's books and toys, or a pack & play!

What we most value is people, and Lauren and her family are a lovely family! They greeted us with warmth and joy. As a side note, the place is just lovely. 100% Vermont!

The Cozy Cottage was a great place for a little get away weekend for my two sisters and I. The cottage was bright, clean, quiet with an awesome view of the brook and field behind. We had everything that we needed to cook a couple of meals and Lauren was kind to leave us yogurt and granola for one of our breakfasts. It was a quick trip to Brattleboro where we spent the day exploring the shops and had lunch at an awesome brew pub. A snowshoe trail along the brook behind the cottage was easily accessible and gorgeous. At night, it was quiet and peaceful with comfortable beds bedecked with ample pillows and comforters. The added bonus for us was Lauren's dog, a wonderfully polite older gentleman who came over to visit us periodically. We would all love to return there in the future.

Lauren's place is magical! Quiet, quaint, and with just the exact perfect amount of amenities (everything you need, but not too much ... stuff.) For people seeking a getaway, a chance to be in nature, and slow down, I cannot stress how perfect it is. I went in winter and took snowy walks down wooded roads and saw a billion sparkly stars in a dark sky. Perfection!

The host was awesome and kind, especially after becoming parents once again the week before. The loft was cozy and had everything we needed if we decided to stay in. 15-20 min drive brings you to everything else you'd need and Brattleboro was exactly what we were looking for. Highly recommend.

Our stay at Lauren's cozy loft was amazing. It was just as it was pictured, the neighborhood was quiet, and the cottage was very warm and homey feeling. Lauren was very accommodating, left us with suggestions of what to do on our stay. I fell in love with this loft, we are definitely going to make our way back here in the future.
