Exclusive access to beautifully restored & spacious West Wing with original features. 2 lovely bedrooms, separate wet room & huge living room.

Secluded, quiet and picturesque location. All within 15 mins of Montgomery, Welshpool and Newtwon.

You will have exclusive access to The West Wing of Fronfraith Hall, a notable country house built in 1863 and former family home of the renowned Canadian novelist, playright and lecturer Robertson Davies (see Wikipedia). It is set amongst the beautiful rolling, green hills of Mid Wales, close to the Shropshire border (Welsh Marches) and very near to the historic and attractive border towns of Montgomery, Welshpool, Shrewsbury and Ludlow.

The West Wing at Fronfraith Hall is a perfect setting for families, couples or small groups for holidays, short stays and weekend breaks at anytime throughout the year. It is especially idyllic during the summer months and during the Christmas/New Year period.

Up to six adults can be very comfortably accommodated with all bedlinen and towels supplied. Children under the age of two are free,a cot can be provided

Surrounded by seven acres of private gardens, including four acres of lawned terraces, there are plenty of areas to relax or play in total privacy (more than one acre is set aside for exclusive access to guests of the West Wing). The surrounding gardens also feature an original walled Victorian kitchen garden and a pond surrounded by rhododendrons/woodland. It is an excellent spot to observe the local wildlife including deer, bats, red-kites, herons and buzzards (to name but a few).

Dutch and German is spoken fluently.

The West Wing has been recently restored to reflect the Nineteenth Century origins and boasts one double bedroom, one twin bedroom, an entrance hall, a bathroom and a very large open plan living/dining and kitchen area. This room is very spacious and is naturally lit by two large windows and a large seated bay window which overlooks the beautiful rolling hills of the Severn valley. A fireplace with wood burner creates a cozy atmosphere in the evening to relax by and enjoy the peace and quiet of the surrounding countryside. There is also a good selection of books and novels for you to read.

I stayed for 2 nights with my mother, husband and 7-year-old son. After seeing this house on Airbnb, I knew I had to book it and it was totally worth the 3-hour drive from South Wales; a large part of it through winding county lanes. We arrived at what looked like a stately home, warmly greeted and shown around the West Wing. A bottle of wine, some milk and tea bags were thoughtfully left for us. The property is like nowhere we have stayed at. To have the entire wing and the spacious garden by ourselves was a wonderful and exceptional experience. My son loved kicking a ball around the lawn, exploring the pond, being on the tyre swing and exploring the surroundings. The house is located in a very peaceful and tranquil part of mid Wales, which offers excellent sleep quality, fresh air and beautiful greenery. You will discover what silence truly means. We would recommend buying some food from nearby supermarkets to prepare in the kitchen so you can enjoy the view while you eat especially on a warm summer's evening when you can sit outside. We would also recommend visiting Powis Castle (house and garden), which is about a 15-20 min drive away. I've stayed at lots of Airbnb accommodation, but this is in a category beyond anything else we could imagine! Thank you!
