Maggie's home was very quaint and sweet. Really wonderful art in the room where we stayed and a beautiful view of some coastal forest from the back deck. Maggie is truly a very very kind host, and made our check in seamlessly easy. Our room was very comfortable and relatively secluded despite being in the center of the house. The shower, was absolutely amazing.
However, as nice as the amenities and stay could have been, there was a very serious situation on the second day at her home. My mother and I stayed the first night and day in preparation for my best friend's wedding which we were both participants of. While I was at the venue, assisting my friend, my mother returned to the house to get ready and was nearly attacked by a dog that was in the house. No such dog had been included in her listing. I understand that the dog does not belong to Maggie, but to her daughter and that it is not there the majority of the time. Timing could not have been worse, and neither could the handling of the situation. Not only was the host's daughter rude to my mother, but no compensation was offered after the incident, and when the situation was explained to me again, the only thing the host did was make excuses for why it happened.
I want to make it very clear, that all other aspects of my stay were stellar. I am VERY displeased with the accountability for a potentially very dangerous situation and the lack of ownership for this mistake. I hope this situation never presents itself again, but please be wary of your safety and stay in direct communication with your host.
