This space is located on a farm. Horses, dogs, aquaponics, organic field produce, pastures and more. We are isolated and quite. Chickens, hogs and cow milking are seasonal. There is no wi-fi, no cable, no dishwasher (hands work great), no clothes washer in the cottage, and some cell phones don't work. If you need to wash clothes, ask, there is a washer and dryer in the dairy that you are welcome to use for a $2 per load donation (meaning both wash & dry for $2, just leave the money on the table in your cottage). Many people come here to rest and relax, others to see a farm, some because their cell phone won't work, and others to just enjoy walking in nature and seeing the wildlife. Clean open spaces, fresh air, quite - enjoy the farm. You are welcome to wander the farm, self explore. Our 170 acres is wrapped by the neighbors 2500 acres so it is very peaceful. On both CR 267 & CR 270 there are exotic animals farms; we can't promise you will see animals but we see exotics more often than not. Self tour the aquaponic facilities, feel free to call in advance to set up farm consultation, or request to milk the cows for an additional fee. The farm is for sale if you are looking for an amazing place in Central Texas. Hogs and chickens are seasonal on the farm and pastured, you may or may not see them. We are available prior to dark if you need help with check in, if we are on the farm. Please do not choose to check in after dark and then call us; we own a farm, that means we get up prior to sun up and we go to sleep when the sun goes down. There are 4 cottages on the farm, if you have an issue with one, come to the main home on the farm and request help. This cottage is situated in the middle of the farm close to the main farmhouse. Please open and close the bar over the cattle guard both coming and going to keep the livestock on the farm. This cottage has a very strict cancellation policy b/c if you decide at the last minute it is too far out, we have no ability to rent it on short notice. If you are afraid of the dark, you might not like it here. There are no curbs, no streetlights ... this is a country, 1000's of acres will surround you - in fact I can only count 5 neighbors in 1.5 miles from the farm in any direction. There are no refunds.
Come in the front entrance, open and close the bar coming and going. Follow the road to the end, you will see your cottage closets to the BIG red barn, it faces Westerly towards the pond. You may park in front of the cabin (there are stumps to indicate how close and where in order to protect the trees and septic), please stay behind these tree stumps and do NOT drive around the cottage on any side other than where the stumps are located in order to protect pipes, septic and gas lines. Or you may park in the Farm Yard close to the general store and walk to your cabin if you wish. Your cabin is the one that faces West. Guest may access the entire farm as long as they respect the rules: 1) open and close gates EXACTLY as you find them, EVERY TIME you walk through one. Do NOT leave one open thinking "I will be just a minute" as an animal can leave the farm and present a liability on the road. 2) DON'T feed the animals. 3) DO pick up any trash, plastic or string you see lying around - it is dangerous for the animals to eat. 4) Fish any of the ponds - bring your own gear. 5) Hike the ~mile to the back (pass the greenhouses on your right and just keep going). 6) Clean up after yourselves, separating your washed recyclables from the burnable garbage, put your linens in a pile by the front door prior to departure, wash your dishes and leave them on the dry pad/rack. The cottages are low priced so that you have the opportunity to enjoy the farm and our teenage girls have the opportunity to earn your cleaning fee and learn responsibly, hard work, accountability, and more. 7) Clean up after yourselves, the cottages are low priced so that you have the opportunity to enjoy the farm and our teenage girls have the opportunity to earn your cleaning fee and learn responsibly, hard work, accountability, and more. 8) You are welcome to wild harvest if you like. Feel free to wander the farm and self tour. There is not a General Store any more - it is an office. However, if you want a little food from the farm, drop us an email in advance of the stay and we will let you know what is available, there is usually some extra grass fed beef, local raw honey, gourmet himalayan salt, organic maple, organic loose leaf assam tea, homemade vanilla extract made with organic vodka, organic popcorn and organic jams. If you see any plastic or string lying around, please pick it up, as it is dangerous for the livestock. Please, no smoking. Separate out and wash your plastic and glass for recycle. The farm has 7 all year ponds where you are welcome to fish; remember to bring your own supplies. The far back of the farm is beautiful for a picnic. Also note that the farm is a working farm, it is not a tourist attraction, and farms can have hazards in equipment, animals, and more. Exercise common sense in relation to animals - they can all bite, kick and paw; most don't, but be cautious but feel free to roam. As long as there is a gate to go through, you are still on the farm.
Self check in after dark. Events are welcome, please check with us about a "Party" as we do not allow wild, loud, out of control gatherings :)>. Please close the bar over the cattle guard both coming and going EVERY TIME. Do not feed the animals. Please pick up any garbage and leave your cabin nice and neat just like you found it. Open, close and latch all gates on the farm just the way you found them. Feel free to roam and self tour. We do not allow smoking as fire of any kind is dangerous on a farm; if you smoke on the farm or in the cottage(s) you will be asked to leave the farm immediately without refund. Ask about a pet, those that stay in crates and are flea/tick dipped prior to arrival are fine. Or we have a horse trailer that you can leave a larger animal in if you clean up after it. No refund on this property.
