The Up is a wonderful little cottage with a balcony that opens up to a marveouls view. Even though we got to spend only one morning gazing at the snow capped peaks (the sky was overcast most of the times) the view itself is expansive and refreshing. I would highly recommend the place if one is looking for a private cozy place to unwind and spend quality time with oneself and one's loved ones. If one is looking for more excitement, then the peace and quiet of the Up might seem a bit dull. My favourite bits - 1. Spending many leisurely hours on the balcony with the rustling wind for company. 2. Walking on the hillside and having a private sunset picnic. 3. Watching the swallows go in and out of their nest on the balcony ceiling. 4. Having Anand (the caretaker) make excellent home cooked meals for us. 5. Having hot water to bathe with. 6. Sanjeev (who looks after logistics) was super helpful with directions and with making sure that our needs were met. The little niggles to be mindful of, especially if planing on going there in summer - 1. There is only a fan in the rooms - which was sufficient most of the times. However, it may not be enough for when it gets really hot. 2. The electricity goes out often, so at times it did get a little hot. 3. When the lights go out, so does ones access to hot water. That aside, I throughly recommend this place and I shall surely visit again :)

We spent a relaxing week at 'The Up'. The view is spectacular from the rooms. If you love nature then there's lots to keep you occupied. You can go for walks to the village or go to the jungle. Collect pine cones or just listen to the chirping of the birds. If you are in a mood for some sightseeing then go visit the Surya Mandir in Katarmal, an archeological temple built in the 9th century. There are small stores with basic necessities 1.7 km from the cottage. Anand the caretaker will help make your stay comfortable and warm if you wish to enjoy a bonfire under the stars. The cottage doesn't get direct sunlight which is good for summers as it keeps the place cool. But the rooms get a lot of natural light through the huge windows. For winters, there's enough sunlight in the lawn where we spent most of our time, enjoying the view and the sun. I must commend the hosts on their tastefully decorated home and taste in books. Sadly I had my own studies to do else I would have loved to go through the Wuthering Heights. The house has a warm vibe to it. If you love gardening and have any interest in plants you'll love this place. The lavender shrubs and rosemary bushes were a treat to our senses. There's wifi if you still want to stay connected. The hosts weren't there at the property but Mr. Sanjeev was in contact with us through our stay. He gave us clear directions to reach the cottage and we didn't face any problems. The cottage is in the middle of a village so don't expect markets or restaurants nearby.

We stayed here during the 2017 Republic day weekend and had the most awesome stay! Personally, I think the pictures posted by the host don't do justice to the place. The cottage "The Up" is located on top of a hill and offers absolutely stunning views of the entire Nanda Devi range. It has an attached balcony, which is huge, offers stunning mountain and valley views and is covered - so that you can enjoy your adrak-walli chai while watching the rain fall or on a clear day, the snow-clad mountains. Same views can be seen from the master bedroom at the top and also from the lower bedroom at the bottom. It is a beautiful & well maintained property with all amenities needed, secluded from all noise but close enough to the street/walkable road/small shops. We were lucky that it rained on our first day here - since we anyway couldn't see the Himalayan range, we made a short 1 hour trip to Kasardevi temple. The second day was clear and sunny and we could see the whole Nandadevi range from left to right. The property is huge and we had a nice picnic outside with the sun shining warm above us and the Himalayan range in front of us. In the night, we lighted a small bonfire and stared at a beautiful night sky (you can almost see the milky way!). This was our first AirBnB stay and we were very happy with "The Up". Also, Mr.Sanjeev, the host, was very welcoming and helpful and made sure we had a wonderful stay. All in all, a wonderful property, wonderful host and we'd definitely return!

What a lovely place to getaway! The hospitality we were greeted with was beyond our expectations. The hosts were not present on the property but they called us to check in and often helped be a go between for us who speak no Hindi and the caretaker who only spoke Hindi. They even helped us book bus tickets for a return trip when we ran into some snags. It was a little chilly upon arrival but the electric heaters and hot water showers warmed us up. It's access to wildlife especially birds and hiking was also a key component of its ambiance. We would love to come back here and hope we can!

Vidyun's is absolutely a nature lovers paradise. The sunrise making the snow clad peaks turns red, the clouds over the valley below, the tranquility, the rich, lush green nature....I can go on and on, without stopping. The caretaker Anand Ji is very warm and fatherly. He cooked excellent meals for us including local cuisines and ensured our comfort at all times. Sanjeev was the perfect host and ensured we reach safely and provided us proper directions to the cottage. To conclude, this was a trip me and my friends enjoyed to the hilt.

We had a wonderful time at Vidyun's. After a cloudy and cold first day(we went in the 3rd week of December ), we woke up on the second to the entire Kumaon Himalayas revealed before us, as if afloat in the sea of cumulus which had descended to the Almora valley. The nights were clear -when you switched off the lights, gazed into the night sky and wondered about our place in the universe, the Milky Way formed itself. The water was warm - electricity, heating and plumbing was on point. The same could be said about the hospitality of the hosts- Vidyun & Sanjeev. Vidyun & Sanjeev were warm, kind and friendly in so many ways. Great conversations, warming drinks, welcoming beds and grand mountains - what else can one want in a retreat in the mountains?

Excellent location, with picturesque back ground of The Himalayas from the balcony. Nice lawn to laze around in the mornings. Good collection of books to dive into. Forest trial to the nearby village is must do. Thanks to the continuous follow up of Mr Sanjeev with the routes and valuable suggestion for the nearby locations. Mr Anand Singh and Mr Raju took care of our daily needs, so we were fully enjoying every minutes.
