Our stay at Mladenka's place was just perfect! Absolutely zero complaints about the flat: it's a bit out-dated but you can see that from the pictures, and nothing that really affects your stay there. Kitchen had everything we needed to cook a few meals, bed and pillows were comfortable, everything was nicely cleaned. AC was *very* useful! Having a balcony was SO great! We had breakfast outside everyday and even spent a few hours late in the evening just admiring the view. The (huge) balcony is shared with one more flat, but it has plenty of space and two sets of a little table with chairs - one for each apartment. Mladenka was a great host, she came to meet us close to the centre on our arrival and was always available during our stay since she lives right upstairs. The lemonade upon arrival was divine in the 35 degrees heat! We didn't need her often but when we did, she was almost immediately there to help. Her english is not perfect but that didn't stop her from being super nice and we were able to communicate very well since I speak a bit of German and so does she.
Location of the flat is amazing - 5 minutes down the stairs to reach the nearest beach, 10-15 mins to the city centre and also roughly 10mins to reach the great Mina beach (beware the sandy area is *very* small though -
was a surprise for me!). As other guests have already mentioned, there is a mini-market just 20m away but variety is of course limited and some things are quite pricey, so I still suggest going down to the city for more options and better prices.
The only thing I would say to keep in mind is that it's quite a climb up from the city centre. Not a problem for us but could be a problem if you don't have a car and are carrying heavy suitcases, for example, or have any sort of restricted mobility. You can either walk up the streets from the city centre for roughly 15mins or climb up a long flight of stairs instead (I counted roughly 100 steps) that leaves you right in front of the house. The view resulting from this absolutely makes up for the effort though!
Thank you so much, Mladenka, for contributing so much to the awesome days we spent in Jelsa! Will definietely come back if I have the opportunity in the future :)
