This charming apartment on busy Long Street is a light and airy balconied flat in historic Victoria Court, a gracious building with a beautiful garden and mountain views, overlooking the buzz and excitement of Cape Town central.

Light, airy and uncluttered, the top-floor apartment has been owned and loved by us for seven years. Almost every window offers wonderful views of the mountains, central Cape Town, and of course, the buzz of Long Street. The apartment receives sunlight from dawn to sunset. A small Juliet balcony in the bedroom provides the perfect spot for coffee in the morning or a sundowner over Long Street, watching people gathering at restaurants and bars. Typical of the architectural style, the kitchen is small yet functional and equipped, while the living areas and bedroom are large and high-ceilinged. The apartment is modestly furnished but very comfortable.

Please note that we have had a new WiFi connection installed.

Guests will have total and exclusive access to the apartment and a secure parking bay in the German Lutheran Church opposite. The apartment building has a 24-hour doorman.

Victoria Court has a lush communal garden and vegetable patch, beautifully maintained by Sidima, the caretaker. Guests can picnic in the cool and leafy garden at the back.

Two doors along are the Long Street Victorian Baths, the recently renovated (and very cheap) indoor swimming pool and Turkish baths.

We'd be very happy to provide support and offer recommendations to guests who'd like it - we believe a local's perspective is more valuable than a tourist guide. On the other hand, you won't hear from us if you don't want to!

Reputed to be the first apartment block in Cape Town, Victoria Court is an oasis of cool calm situated in the heart of the social and cultural hub of Cape Town and a mini-stroll from the city’s museums, galleries, theatres, historic cinema, markets and heritage sites.

On the doorstep there are cute and stylish outdoor cafés, restaurants, bars and clubs, book shops, small local designer outlets, antiques and crafts as well as ready access to buses and tours of the city, the coast, the Winelands and beyond. Mountain hikes and beach trips are all a few minutes' drive away (a bit longer by public transport).

Long Street lies in the centre of the City Bowl, the area of Cape Town at the foot of Table Mountain. Originally, Long Street was the longest street in the city, stretching from the harbour up to the mountain slopes. Now, it connects the Waterfront with trendy Kloof Street, running parallel between the Bo-Kaap and the public Company's Gardens (the refreshment station of the Dutch East India Company - an original olive tree is in Victoria Court's garden) and Parliament.

Generally, Capetonians get around by car (a parking bay is available for you), however Long Street is home to most of the city's cabs so you can hail one down in seconds (if you don't use Uber, which is even cheaper). If you do rent a car, the apartment is conveniently situated for best access to all major roads and highways that will take you wherever you want to go.

On the ground floor directly beneath the apartment is a local travel agency, where you can arrange car rentals, day trips, tours, safaris, helicopter rides, boat trips etc.

On the doorstep is a bus stop for the local bus (MyCiti) which can take you most places in town and to the airport, as well as the open-top sightseeing bus.

Long Street is a popular attraction for locals and tourists, especially during the summer! This is due to its position in the Centre of town and the abundance of bars and restaurants. Because of this, the street can be noisy especially over weekends.

Victoria Court is a heritage building, and as such has a number of rules that all tenants must adhere to. Those relevant to our guests are:
- No pets
- No noise after 9pm on weekdays and 11pm on weekends. Long Street can get very loud (especially on weekends) but residents of Victoria Court greatly appreciate the peacefulness of the block. This rule is (and has been, on several occasions) enforced by the doorman. If you do feel like letting your proverbial hair down, you'll anyway have much more fun at one of the many bars or music venues on your doorstep...
