This is a newly renovated 5th floor apartment in the center of the vieille ville or old town of Grasse. The house dates from 1690 and there is no lift, so pack light and be prepared to climb. Once up there, you will have comfort, fabulous views and no-one above you to make noise.
The apartment is 67 sq m. There is one main bedroom with large bath en suite, and a study upstairs with a sofa bed that opens to sleep two. The view from the French windows in the bedroom is south, out over the old town of Grasse to the nearby hills.
The bathroom has a large tub, a washing machine and sink, and spacious clothes closets. On the other side of the apartment there is a separate shower and sink, which is convenient if more than two people are staying. The WC is separate as in most French homes.
The kitchen has been recently renovated and is fully equipped, with a four burner glass-ceramic cooktop, microwave, electric toaster oven, Tassimo coffee maker, electric kettle, and blender. There is plenty of counter top space for preparing food, and a snack bar with two bar stools for convenient breakfasts or drinks.
The dining area seats four and shares an L-shaped room with the sitting room, which is equipped with stereo CD and radio and has soft niche lighting. Large windows offer a view across the tiled roofs of Grasse over to the hills beyond.
Upstairs is the study, with WiFi connection, a desk to work at, the sofa bed, books in French, English, German and Italian, and games for adults and children. The views are the best from up here, down to Cannes and Mandelieu la Napoule on the coast, out over small streets and prominent buildings of the old town, up into the hills, and over to the cathedral of Notre-Dame-du-Puy, which is illuminated at night.
All the big windows have external roller shutters enabling you to let in the breeze without the heat in summer. These shutters and the double glazing throughout reduce the transmission of heat and sound, and provide excellent security as well.
Except at the upper level, all the floors have the original tomettes or terracotta tiles that are typical of historic buildings in the region, carefully preserved and maintained.
Amenities: WiFi, washing machine, a/c and electric fans for summer, heating for winter, microwave, toaster oven, Tassimo coffee maker, electric kettle, blender, CD player and radio, and hair dryer. Iron and ironing board on request.

We can do laundry for you by arrangement during your stay (if you don't want to use the washing machine). There is no dryer, but there is a clothes rack, and clothes dry quickly.

Sophie, UK: It's a bit of a climb up to the flat but once up there it's a haven of calm and light. You can open all the windows and get a lovely through breeze in the heat, and the views of the red tiled roofs of the old town and the swifts swooping in the evening air are lovely sights.
Liz, UK: I have very fond memories of my holiday in Grasse! We had such lovely mornings in the flat! Enjoying fresh coffee and croissants overlooking the beautiful rooftops and out to sea in the glorious morning sun! The bedroom is lovely and light and the bed was very comfortable.
No smoking in the apartment, no fire in the fireplace (it's now illegal), no pets.
No illegal activities and no drugs.
No loud noise after 10 p.m. During the day, noise level respectful of neighbors.
No children between 2 and 10 years of age as the space is not adapted for younger ones. Infants under 2 years accepted (we can provide a crib/playpen and high chair).
AT CHECKOUT, PLEASE LEAVE THE APARTMENT AS YOU FOUND IT:
•clean, with all surfaces wiped and free of stains in kitchen, sitting room, bathroom etc.
•dishes washed and put away, perishable food thrown away, garbage collected and taken down to the bins on the street (rue Gazan)
•furniture, rugs and lamps put back in place if you have moved them
•books, games and CDs put back in place if you have moved them
Please sort used towels and linen as follows:
•wet towels in the bathtub
•used bed linen piled at the foot of the bed
•used kitchen towels on the kitchen counter
Our local representative, Patricia Lespine, must be present at check-in and checkout. PLEASE ALERT HER ON OR BEFORE CHECKOUT OF ANY PROBLEMS OR DAMAGE SUCH AS STAINS, BREAKAGES OR LOSS.
Do not leave without alerting us or without locking the door. IN THE UNLIKELY EVENT THAT YOU DO SO, YOU WILL FORFEIT YOUR ENTIRE DEPOSIT.

•meubles, tapis, lampes, chaises, remis en place si vous les avez déplacés
•livres, revues, jeux et CDs rangés à leur place si vous les avez utilisés
Ramassez le linge de maison que vous avez utilisé :
•les serviettes mouillées dans la baignoire
•les draps, housses de couettes, taies, sur le lit
•les torchons et essuie main sur le plan de travail cuisine
