Watch the boats go by, play in the McKenzie Valley! Experience a newly rebuilt, small but spacious cabin right on the McKenzie River. Salvaged from an old historic cabin, this place has new comforts and old soul. This rental supports sustainability, restoration of the river ecosystem and local jobs.

The shared living spaces are open and light. You will find a variety of wood building materials throughout the house- some new, some salvaged from the original cabin. You can fish from the lower covered porch (with licenses) - the drift boats seem to have success just up river and down river of the cabin. Reservoir recreation areas and hot springs are approx. 20 minute drive east. Extensive hiking and mountain biking and winter sports are within 30-60 minute drive. You are welcome to sleep out on the deck or on the covered porch or put tents in the covered porch area under the house if that is your preferred way to enjoy the river in the summer. I developed this place as an example of living simply, in small spaces, while being able to comfortably cook and share meals and enjoy the amazing beauty of the earth.

Feel good about renting this space: I am continually striving to increase the sustainability of this cabin. I only employ local caretakers and annually invest in more restoration and maintenance along the river. I invest in community based social equality and environmental education in the U.S. and abroad and your financial support of this rental helps provide this work free of charge.

For sure I hope you feel the welcoming, positive energy of my family and friends and all the wonderful people who have rented before you! Cheers :)

The full house, under the house and the up river side of the house. The down river side yard is undergoing environmental restoration.

I will not be available during your stay. There are care takers a few cabins down that will make sure everything is set up for you.

Altre cose da evidenziare

This cabin is right on the river and right on the highway. There are 3 parking spots that pull straight off the highway. Kids should be supervised when close to the river or on the highway side of the house. At this time not all cell providers get reception on large parts of the McKenzie Hwy. Verizon and Sprint seem to get service. T-Mobile does not. Currently there is no wifi at the cabin. Access to groceries and gas are limited. Make sure and stock up in Springfield if coming from the West. Sisters/Bend if coming from the East. The Vida store to the West of the cabin, Rainbow store to the East will take care of the basics plus a little extra if needed. You are on the river, so there are bugs. Don't be surprised to come across some at some point on your stay - there is bug killer (I hate to use it, but...) under the kitchen sink if there is a nest that is in a really bad place for humans and the house. There are a few citronella candles and a small fan that can be used to keep the little ones away from you on the deck at night if needed.

My wife and I had a wonderful time spending two days at Casey's cabin! Our first day was very sunny and we had the chance to explore the Cougar Reservoir area. The Terwilliger Hot Springs was an interesting adventure! Our second day was snowy and cold. It was the perfect day to stay in and enjoy the coziness of the cabin. It was well stocked with everything we needed. Games, Books, extra sheets, and a supplied kitchen! The river was so beautiful and the whole cabin gives you a great view of it. We hardly touched our phones and never turned on the TV! Thank you for a relaxing weekend. We will be back!

Our visit to Casey's cabin was wonderful! The river was high and it was one of those unique February days in the pacific northwest where the sun was shining and air felt a bit warmer. The cabin had everything we needed, down to the giant french press. I will definately be coming back to experience this place in the summer!

Casey's cabin is absolutely wonderful. The inside is such a nice mix of modern and rustic. The windows are so, so nice for taking in the beautiful views of the McKenzie. The cabin truly was a great place to unplug, be with friends, and explore the amazing McKenzie foothills. We would recommend Casey's cabin and we cannot wait to come back again soon!

Casey's place was great. Right off the McKenzie highway, and right on the river, as soon as we walked in we felt relaxed by the surroundings. We cooked some very nice meals in the well appointed kitchen. Enjoyed coffee on the deck in the morning overlooking the river. We went to cougar hot springs on Christmas Eve, which was a very short drive away. It was an amazing trip. Thanks for the great stay!

I love people, I love the world. This vacation rental is one way I stay connected to my family in Oregon and the amazing natural environment of Oregon (I'm from there) and it helps fund the social and environmental work I do that doesn't pay the income to equal the value it provides for all of us. I'm happy to you have you share this beautiful place. Be comfortable, take care of it, enjoy it like it is your own for a few days. :)
