Hello! This is Yuko!
I am a local in Osaka living in a newly-renovated Japanese house and I am hosting travelers! The Hideaway opened in 7th Oct 2015 and I have hosted over 165 travelers around the world so far.
Hideaway is located in a residential suburb of Sakai town called Ishizugawa. We have artworks, Japanese/English/Spanish books, travel information in English/Japanese日本語/Mandarin中国語/Korean, free drinks and more. We have dinner gathering in the house occasionally.
Sakai is not still really popular among tourists but the city has a world heritage site called "Kofungun", temples, traditional tea session centers, traditional craft work (particularly cooking knives), fish markets, public baths and many more places of interests - all easily accessible along the Nankai train line! The Japanese garden here are not as crowded and we have matcha tea plants in there. Sakai city has a lot of attractions on artisan history which is only known among some Japanese people but if you are interested in local culture and craft work, you will surely enjoy Sakai.
At Ishizugawa station where Hideaway is, there are takoyaki (octopus balls - a famous Osaka traditional food snack) shops, yakiniku (fried meat) BBQ restaurants, ramen and udon restaurants and local dining bars serving standard Japanese food. There are also convenience shops, clinics and supermaket nearby my place.
I welcome guests to have conversations with me in English or Spanish during your stay here.
Estoy estudiando Español('ω')ノ
As a traveler to over 30 countries myself, I think it is more important to communicate with the locals and experience the culture, than visiting tourists sites. I hope to give my guests the similar experience that I enjoyed and make their trip a memorable one.
I can also help you practice speaking Japanese and teach Japanese calligraphy if you like.
I looking forward to meeting you!
