Fantastic stay in an unique rental. The house was quiet, warm and in substantial and perfectly kept grounds. The hosts were friendly and offered us tips on local activities and restaurant recommendations. The house itself had a number of features such as the original apple press and secret rooms, our children (aged 5 and 2) loved running around and playing hide and seek. The house is approximately a 10 minute walk from the centre of Bayeux, with the railway station also close by (5 minutes walk). During our stay we visited Bayeux, Mont St Michel (1hr 10minures drive) and the D-Day beaches (15 minutes drive). Normandy is a lovely area and there is plenty more to see in the area. I am sure we will return in the future.

We had a wonderful stay at The Farm Manor in Bayeux. Christophe and Véronique were delightful hosts - from the great communication leading up to our visit to making our arrival as easy as possible to making sure our stay was comfortable and enjoyable – they clearly enjoy sharing their unique property with guests. We especially enjoyed the personal time they spent with us sharing the history of their property and taking the time to get to know us a bit. The Farm Manor is a lovely and rare find. Well positioned for exploring the best of Normandy, we easily saw the Bayeux Tapestry, the D-Day Beaches, and Mont-Saint-Michel, plus a variety of other points of interest. The apartment is spacious, private and peaceful. My husband, myself, and our teenaged son were accompanied by my elderly father-in-law on our visit. The personal space the apartment offered allowed us all to share the apartment comfortably. The two toilets were especially helpful. Although there are a number of stairs to enter the apartment, and a few more inside, the stairways are wide and well-lit and my father-in-law just took it slow and steady with no problems. This was his first visit to France and he keeps telling people that we stayed in “a castle”. :)

Perfect location an easy walk into Bayeux centre and great access to the D-day landing beaches. Our children loved the spacious rooms and grounds, played tennis morning and evening, collected walnuts from the trees and Christophe gave us all a guided tour of the property which was really interesting. Although large inside it was warm and comfortable with good hot water and heating. We stayed in October half term for four days and visited the Bayeux tapestry, cathedral and Satureay morning markets, and the landing beaches. A highlight was the museum at Arromanches which was interesting even for our 4 year old. We will be back to visit more of the local area. I highly recommend this place!

This location is absolutely perfect. Our four children found it magical and enchanting. My husband and I found it peaceful and perfect for our family of six. The hosts, Christophe and Veronique, met us as we arrived late the first evening and took time of their evening before we left to share of their work and love of their beautiful home. We highly recommend the property for a short or long trip. The owners are very accommodating, generous and kind. Many attractions in the area are easy to get to.

Wow. That’s the word we kept repeating from the moment we stepped onto the vast, graveled inner courtyard of this very special property. Christophe and Véronique have spent years restoring a once neglected ferme manoir to its former glory – with a modern twist. This is no longer a working farm: Roughly one-third of the stone barns have been turned into rental properties for three families. Other buildings now house an exhibition space and two gîtes. And yet the ensemble retains a sense of privacy and intimacy. Our accommodation was previously the home of hired hands who worked the farm, we were told. The living room is a huge, high-timbered space with a massive stone fireplace and enough space on the rustic tiled floor to sleep a score of soldiers. The kitchen is well equipped and completely modern. The WiFi offers a seamless connection to the outside world, despite the thick walls. One floor down, we found a second large living space, a shower and two bedrooms, including a master bedroom with its own bath and walk-in closet. A side door in that bedroom opened onto a balcony that looks down on an aged cider press and its great grey wooden wheel. The windows on the courtyard side of our temporary home look out over the warm, yellow façade of the 17th-century estate house, with its elegantly long, narrow casements, tower and chimneys. Christophe and Véronique made us feel instantly at home – in both French and English – and gave us the run of the grounds. We would happily return to this corner of Normandy and its easy access to everything from Mont Saint-Michel to the D-Day beaches. Ann and Jim Pressley-Bekaert
