3 camere da letto
Due to extreme drought in Ventura County, after 3 guests I charge $10 extra each per night, per person , including infants. Located one block to the beach, and with so many activities around town you will love your stay. 5th bed is a queen airbed. Relax and enjoy. Ventura has been voted one of the best places to vacation.
Coral Cottage is a block to the beach. Coral Cottage is a not a large house, but it is comfy. When I first saw this house, I was hooked. It so reminded me of the house my parents bought in the 50's. Flat roofed with a slab foundation. The kitchen is the central area of the cottage, with a counter looking into the living room. With two skylights, natural light floods the house all day. Wherever possible, I have tried to make it sustainable. We removed all the old carpet, laminate flooring and linoleum (from the 50's) tile. The use of low VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) paints was very important to me, as I did not want there to be any out-gassing. The exterior was light blue with turquoise trim. We repainted it a light gray and turquoise, and added a touch of Coral around the windows. I found a cool door that looks like it is from the 50's. The original concrete floors have been shined. I had the kitchen cabinets refaced instead of replacing them. We also reconditioned the original wood windows. Wherever possible, I have used cotton and natural fibers. The lawn was removed with the "sheet mulching" process, and replaced with mushroom compost. It takes longer to remove it, but there were no chemicals used. Sometimes I use vinegar on pesky weeds. Currently, the garden is a work in process, and soon it will flourish as the mushroom compost is super enriched. There are California natives, succulents (from my BFF's daughter's wedding), and other drought tolerant plants. The artichokes are wonderful, please help yourself while you are here..There is an herb garden right near the fence. The toilets and shower heads are low-flow. My cleaning service is allergic to chlorine, so I am thrilled to say that she is familiar with the cleaning and sterilizing qualities of vinegar and baking soda. We also use Mrs. Myers products. One bedroom features a comfy queen bed with all the pillows and blankets you will need, and French doors that lead out to the backyard. The master bedroom has a bathroom with a shower, and a garden window with my shell collection. It also has French doors that lead out to the backyard. The gardens are a work in progress. There local brochures on what to do in Ventura and surrounding areas. There are a lot of amazing surf spots nearby including Ventura Point, Pitas Point and Rincon. Coral 2 has a gas grill, a big screen SmartTV, blow dryers in each bathroom, portable air conditioner and lovely patio table and chairs in the backyard. There is also a queen Airbed for extra people. (there is an extra charge for more than 3 people). The kitchen has a full size gas stove, refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, toaster blender, coffee maker, French press (you might find some coffee in the freezer), coffee bean grinder, panini maker, waffle maker, crock pot, and plenty of cooking utensils. There is a full length mirror on the bedroom doors. Each bedroom has 2 sets of sheets, the bathrooms have plenty of towels. I just bought a brand new washer and dryer for those staying over 6 days or over 4 people. The Pier is about 1.5 miles north, the bike path and state beach are about 4 blocks north. I have 2 bikes in their own tent on the left side of the tent. For hygiene purposes, I do not furnish helmets, please bring your own and use the bikes at your own risk. Ventura is a not only a city, but a county with numerous cities and communities with their own personalities. There is great hiking in the hills or on the Channel Islands. There are whale watching tours that you take from the Harbor. You can hop on the trolley to get downtown, the Fairgrounds or the Harbor. The County Fair is in August, and Surf Rodeo is in July. Downtown has lots of restaurants and shopping. We even have our own Seaward Village, just a few short blocks away. Many yummy restaurants, coffee shop, surf shop and frozen yogurt. There are so many things to do while you are, you will have to (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) it. Thank you for choosing Coral Cottage. Lastly, please enjoy yourselves. Your Coral Cottage Host, Donna
These are some reviews that I received from the same house with just 1 bedroom. Check out Coral Cottage at the beach for my 4.5 star reviews. "Donna was such a wonderful host. We arrived a little later than expected and she was sweet enough to wait for us. She gave us lots of information that was very useful for our stay in Ventura. The house was clean and beautiful just like the pictures. The house is less than 5 minutes from the beach, which was amazing for our afternoon naps! We will definitely use this house in the future. We had an awesome time at the beach cottage." "Great location! Enjoyed the beach, just down the lane, and it was close to shopping, grocery store and great restaurants. Our host gave us a list of local attractions and amenities which was helpful. The bike path is very close with easy access to the beach for a morning jog. We'll be back!" "Donna was very accommodating and welcoming, and flexible with our arrival timing and with adding a day to our reservation. She has some very thoughtful touches included at the cottage and it's obvious she wants to provide a comfortable getaway for visitors. The landscaping is a work in progress, which i am sure will be great when completed. Things like towels and bedding and individual packets of soap were all lovely. We were there during a super hot and humid spell (almost unheard of for this area, most of the time), thank goodness for the fan and the AC unit (although i think if we hadn't been with a wandering toddler we would have just opened up the back door to the patio and been fine with a crossbreeze through the place). I grew up in Ventura and chose the cottage to be close to the beach, Marina park, the bike trail. It's a casual, comfortable, easy and eclectic beach rental. Parking in the driveway or in front of it is very convenient on busy beach days. We would definitely stay here again (though I am sure it will cost more - and be worth it - as soon as the work-in-progress details like landscaping are finished). Donna was easily reachable and responsive to any questions or needs we had during our stay. The whole house, and yard, except the garage. Parking in front of the garage or on the street.

Thank you for staying at Coral Cottage. The City of Buenaventura requires all temporary vacation rentals to be registered and licensed. My permit is #2223. The City is very serious about keeping residential neighborhoods quiet, and forbids parties and loud social events between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m per SBMC §(phone number hidden)(i). They also charge a 10% Transient Occupancy Tax . It is included in the nightly fee . There are beach chairs, Boogie boards, towels and a folding beach mat in the closet. There is a trolley that runs down the street, from Wednesday until Sundays, that hits the harbor and downtown areas, and the fairgroiunds. The bike path and San Buenaventura State Beach is only a few blocks north, where you can rent beach cruisers and surreys, I furnish 2 bikes with a lock. Take advantage of the Jolly Oyster Food Truck that is next to the Wheel Fun kiosk. It is located at the State Park. You can bring your own drinks and enjoy fresh seafood outside. Keep going north and you will run into the Pier, and then to the State Fairgrounds. There are volleyball nets set up at the end of San Pedro St, next to the park. I have a volleyball in one of the linen closets. Be prepared to layer. We may have a beautiful hot day, and then it could be cool later in the day or evening. What to do in Ventura: Of course, the beach-lovely and not too crowded. Surfing, SUP, sunbathing and swimming. I have not seen the tar that you see in Santa Barbara. Channel Islands for kayaking and hiking. Boat excursions to the Channel Islands and whale watching(Jan-Apr) . Bell Arts Factory for art, yoga classes, tai chi, community. There are also galleries around town. Take a drive up to Serra Cross Park for fantastic views of the bay. Music scene-live, music (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Ventura Rocks. Restaurants-plenty. Check out my guide book on my site, or there is a printed version in the 3 ring binder on the coffee table.

I usually have back to back reservations & we will need time for cleaning before the next guest. If it is back to back reservations, ½ hour will be allowed for check out. I have an electronic lock. It will be programmed on the day you check in. Call when you arrive in Ventura. I try to meet my guests at check-in, & show you around the house. Sometimes I cannot. If so I will text you with w/instructions & code.
Here are some helpful tips & rules. Thank you for following the rules.

First aid kit, battery operated candles & batteries located in the hall closet near the bathroom. There is a battery operated radio/flashlight.
There are smoke alarms/carbon monoxide detectors. Fire extinguisher in the cabinet left of the stove.
NO SMOKING IN OR AROUND THE HOUSE.
After your reservation is confirmed, please forward the names of all in your traveling party. All adults over 18 must read this manual. (I know, good look with that one). Only registered guests are allowed to stay at my house. Please do not bring extra people, or pets without my knowledge. There is an extra charge. As crazy as it seems, people do try that. Please be respectful.
Bluetooth speaker in the living room, instructions are next to it. I leave bedside clocks unplugged. Most do not use them. Motion night lights at the front exterior of the house.
No pets allowed unless I approve them. There is an extra fee for over 3 people and pets. If pets are allowed, they have to be on flea medication, cleaned up after & NOT ALLOWED ON FURNITURE. I know that is difficult if pets are allowed on furniture at home. Please bring a blanket to protect the furniture. Future guests may be allergic to dogs.
Please feel free to use anything from my garden, leave some for me. Also, please water if my plants start to look dried out.
The house has not been child-proofed. Many people have brought children to the house without incident. You may need to be more diligent with children. I do have a Pac ‘n Play for young children.
I have tried to think of everything you could use. There is a drip coffee maker & a French press, coffee bean grinder, coffee, decaf, assorted teas, honey, spices, Himalayan salt, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, sugar & sugar free sweetener, condiments in the frig, waffle iron, Panini maker, blender, toaster oven, crock pot, microwave corn popper, paper towels, napkins, & a microwave. There are plenty of pots & pans in the cabinets that frame the stove, plus items in the stove & a roaster in the bottom drawer of the stove. Please feel free to use anything in the kitchen. Some food items have been left by previous guests. Help yourself.
I only furnish Dr. Bronner’s Baby formula soap. Dr. Bronner’s has been around for years. It is a castile soap that has oils. This makes for a mild soap. Because of the oils, it can clog the dispensers. It is amber color, in the unmarked bottles. The main bathroom has a blue bottle. All of the other items were left by my previous guests.
I now furnish shampoo and conditioner in my new handi-dandi dispensers.
See ingredients below:
Water, Organic Coconut Oil*, Potassium Hydroxide**, Organic Palm Kernel Oil*, Organic Olive Oil*, Organic Hemp Oil, Organic Jojoba Oil, Citric Acid, Tocopherol
** None remains after saponifying oils into soap & glycerin.
It can be used for body, & hair. You can even brush your teeth with it.
*CERTIFIED FAIR TRADE INGREDIENTS
PLEASE USE THE BEACH TOWELS FOR THE BEACH, THERE AREA PLENTY OF THEM IN THE HALL CLOSET NEXT TO THE BATHROOM. I have some black towels because mascara does not come out of white towels.
Thermostat for the wall heater is on the wall, in the living room on the other side of the hallway door (left side). There are ceiling fans. I adjust the fans in summer & in winter. In winter they will move the heat from the ceiling, when set on “low”. Please make sure the remotes are back in their cradles. There are space heaters for each bedroom. I usually turn off the heaters once in bed. There are comforters in the bedrooms, blankets for each bed & throw blankets in the living room. There is a portable a/c in the living room.
Please clean up after yourself, hang wet towels on the racks to dry.
Please leave everything here for the next party to enjoy. If you break something, let me know so that I can replace it, or have it repaired.
I have 2 bikes in a covered tent at left side yard. There is a lock with a key. Make sure to lock them wherever you park. Please make sure to place them back in their tent every night. Some seasons we have lots of condensation. Air pump in the master suite, next to the French doors. No helmets, for sanitary reasons. Use bikes at your own risk. Bikes can be dangerous.
Please make sure the cushions are brought in at night, or during rain.
If you use the fire pit, I have kindling, & strips of cardboard in containers outside & in the master bedroom. Lighter in the kitchen with the utensils. Please do not replace the fabric cover until the pit has cooled. Please do not leave children unattended around the fire pit.
Grill utensils are in the grill. Please use the metal cover to prevent food from dropping into the bottom of the grill. Turn off tank when finish.
There is a space in front of the garage, or street parking, except for the Wednesday after the 15th, there is no parking in the morning for street cleaning that day. SEE POSTED SIGN AT THE SIDEWALK. If you have a large vehicle, you may have to park in the street. Your car cannot completely block the sidewalk. It can block a portion of it.
Do not place anything other than toilet paper in the toilets.
NO tampons, Kotex, paper towels, body wipes, diapers, q-tips, etc.
California is experiencing a severe drought. Please be conscientious. Limit showers to 4-5 minutes; do not run water while brushing your teeth or shaving. 2017 was a good rain year, except for Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties are still in a drought.
Ventura is very strict about loud noise & parties after 10:00 pm. This is not a party house. Please respect my neighbors, my neighborhood & my city.
Please use the recycling bin NEXT TO THE FRONT DOOR for glass, plastic that is marked, paper & cardboard. Rinse out plastic & glass. No pizza boxes w/encrusted food, that goes in the garbage. See the chart posted on the refrigerator. Leave any Styrofoam. I will make sure it is recycled. Ventura does not recycle Styrofoam
Toys & Other Amenities:
Boogie boards, beach chairs, beach towels, beach tent, & beach mats. Iron & ironing board in each closet. Board games, cards, etc., in the hall closet.
The living room has a SmarTV. There is only basic cable. Both TV's have a universal remote. Remotes are located in the basket on the coffee table & in the master suite, plus the phone number for Charter Cable, if you have any problems.
Sometimes we have some fabulous sunsets. You may want to go to the beach around that time.
Thank you for staying at Coral Cottage & observing my house rules. It is my goal to make your stay a 5 star & memorable stay, different from staying in a hotel. Ventura is a wonderful town. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. If you can think of anything that you would like me to add to the house, please let me know and I will consider it.

I love California, I love Ventura, California has been my home for over 34 years. Originally, I am from Virginia, but I lived in a number of spots on the East Coast: Atlantic City -the first summer they opened a casino, Alexandria, VA, then Westchester, NY. I love to travel, meet new people and explore their cultures. As a child my family always took local vacations, but as an adult I took my first international trip to Montreal for the Olympics with my brother and his college roommate. I wish we had Airbnb then. Luck favored us when we found a local family that rented us their bedroom. They spoke French, and did not know much English. I spoke very little French, so we sat down with an English/French dictionary and talked most of the night. A few years later, I was working with a fellow that asked me to take something to his family in Peru while I was on vacation. Little did I know that it was a TV screen, and not a small one. I flew it to Columbia and Rio, before we ended up in Peru. His family was so gracious, they invited us to lunch one day. I loved getting away from the hotel and exploring the non tourist sights. I took two years of Spanish and was able to communicate with them with the help of a dictionary. All great fun. They served us ceviche with sweet potatoes. Yummy. I hope to get to know you and your culture when you come to California. Welcome.
