I stayed at Jeanette's air b&b for just under 3 months, and overall it was a very positive experience. The location is fantastic, it's in a very quiet and safe area but also not far from main sights, shops, and downtown. Jeanette was a great host, always getting on top of issues immediately, communicating easily, helping when requested, and the muffins on check-in were very tasty. Some others have spoken negatively of her notes left around the house but I actually think it shows that she cares about her house and it's an excellent way to keep everyone in line, especially when you don't know who has done something.
The room and house are simple but comfy and very well looked after. Don't expect the latest in interior design trends, but do expect Jeanette to run around collecting an air mattress and extra sheets from various hiding spots for your friend staying one night (thanks!!). There is plenty of other people to meet, both young and old, and there is plenty of opportunities to share a conversation over breakfast or dinner. That being said, it is definitely not a party house.
As expected over a 3 month stay, there were a few minor issues with showers/fire alarms etc due to the age of the house, but all were sorted by Jeanette rapidly and efficiently within a few days max. My only real complaint is the annoyance of having no bin in the kitchen, which meant walking outside in the cold to dispose of leftover food/rubbish every meal, or having a compost bin in your room from all the organic matter accumulating in it.
I thought it would be important to highlight the few negative things for transparency, but I must stress that overall this was a great stay and very positive experience! The location, cleanliness, homeliness, and attentiveness of the host were all top notch. If you are easygoing and like value for money then this is a great place to stay! Highly recommended.
