(Cooked breakfast can be available at extra cost). Our cooker and hob are not available for meal preparation, but the microwave in the utility room is there for you to make light snacks and heat ready meals if you want to. There is also access to our back garden from this room which is a really lovely place to sit and relax and which you are welcome to make use of.
We have lots of local information available and can help you make the most of your stay by advising you on places to visit and to eat out in the local and surrounding areas if you want us to.
Our detached house is situated in a quiet residential area within walking distance of the Gloucester to Sharpness canal. There is a 'One Stop' shop just up the road and several good pubs serving food close by. Apart from Kingsholm stadium, home of Gloucester Rugby and one of the venues for last year's Rugby World Cup, Gloucester has many great tourist attractions to offer including its stunning Cathedral and the revitalised Gloucester Quays, home of the annual Tall Ships Festival and many local food festivals and markets throughout the year. Here you will find numerous bars, restaurants and cafes, waterside museums, a new cinema and an extensive retail outlet centre, all nestling around the waterways that once made the city prosperous. In addition to all this, however, our very close proximity to the M5 motorway means we're ideally situated for visiting many other nearby destinations such as the elegant town of Cheltenham Spa, famous for its racecourse; the historic city of Bath with its world famous Roman Baths and the bustling city of Bristol, only half an hour away. We're also right on the doorstop of the beautiful Cotswolds and the Forest of Dean, making us a perfect base from which to explore the glorious Gloucestershire countryside.
Buses to Gloucester city centre run frequently from bus stops just a short walk from the house.
Cable TV, including Sky and BT Sports channels, is available in your room, together with good WiFi access.
Please tidy as you go along, especially if making use of the utility room facilities for meal preparation.
Please ensure the property is secure and cared for as you would at home.
Sorry, no pets - although our back garden is a haven for a wide variety of birds!
Smoking only allowed in the garden please.
During the working week we would appreciate quiet between 10:30pm and 7:00am.

I moved to Gloucester 3 and a half years ago having lived and worked for many years in Kent as a Primary School Teacher, specialising in teaching 5 and 6 year olds who were struggling with literacy. My husband, Terry, who I married last November, is Gloucester born and bred and has endless local knowledge to pass on to both me and to our guests! In addition to hosting with Airbnb, I do voluntary work with Carers Gloucestershire, a charity supporting carers throughout the county, and am also an active trustee of a drama group for children and adults with Down's Syndrome. I grew up in a hotel in Kent and as a result have always enjoyed meeting new people - perhaps hosting is in my blood! I really enjoy cooking and all things food-related, especially browsing food markets and trying new foods when travelling and visiting new places. I enjoy watching most sports and can now count myself as a keen Gloucester rugby fan, enjoying the great atmosphere with Terry at Kingsholm Stadium! Most weeks I do a yoga/pilates class and go swimming and I am currently learning to play golf, which I'm finding is testing both my physical and mental skills and, above all, my sense of humour!! I especially love going to the theatre and indulging my passion for musicals - my favourites range from Les Mis to Matilda to Hairspray. Apart from these hobbies and interests, Terry and I get real pleasure simply from spending time with our families and friends, chilling over good food and drinks. Hopefully, we can make our Airbnb guests feel relaxed and chilled at our house too!
