The flat has the 1940's caracteristics of a Beiruty flat, spacious with high ceilings and airy with lots of light. It has a large communal space, a cozy kitchen, 3 bedrooms, one bathroom and an extra toilet. It has two very pleasant verandas, one of them is above a busy street, the other faces the morning sun and the quieter neighborhood.
I'm a set designer so the flat is full of objects bought here and there with their particular stories. It sometimes changes its aspect depending on a new coup de coeur found in a market in Argentina, India, or other travel destination, a props returning from a shoot or theatre play, or a beautiful designer piece.
The flat is situated in Gemayzeh, one of the few remaining street in Beirut with a traditional architecture. This said, it comes with a few anachronisms. Please don't expect a modern flat. It has all amenities provided, but it can happen as in all this neighbourhood, that you'd get a water cut, that we would resolve in a couple of hours by filling up water from private cisterns. This happens very rarely but it can occur.
The charm and great architecture of this flat comes with a bit of a downside.
It is quite an ideal location for someone on holiday wanting to explore the city. You are at the doorstep of a very large choice of restaurants in the street, a stroll away from the bars and hip area of Mar Mikhael, and very close to the highway that takes you South or North.
