3 bedrooms, 2 baths, and one sweet 1887 Folk Victorian with gigabit internet! Chickens & bees, nice yard, bike storage, walking distance to everything in a family-friendly neighborhood. Private and quiet, we have a wonderful home base for exploring all that Portland has to offer.
(Note: This listing was originally for just our lower level bed/bath/living area and not the whole house. We're offering the entire house for 2 months so have expanded this listing to reflect this information.)
We have a bright, cozy, fully renovated 1887 farmhouse-style Victorian with soaring 11 ft ceilings on the main floor and great natural light. Tons of books, comfortably lived-in furnishings, and space to relax.
The first bedroom on the main floor has a king-sized bed. The second bedroom (best for kids) has a loft bed with 2 twin mattresses. The third bedroom is in the lower-level and features a full-sized bed, large closet, desk and bookshelves (stocked, if you haven't yet had the chance to hit Powell's).
The main floor features a large bathroom with a claw-foot tub, a modern, well-stocked kitchen with a gas stove, and a beautiful old fireplace mantel in the dining room (with a custom table made from the original support beam from the house that comfortably seats 6).
The lower level also also has a separate French-door keyless entryway, with a relaxed family room area to hang out in. Wi-Fi and laundry too! Also if the weather is agreeable, we have a great backyard for relaxing in.
Please note no television - if that is important to you.
Our home is located very close-in in SE Portland's Buckman neighborhood. We are in a quiet residential block right on 2 main bike routes and walking distance (~1 mile) to downtown and the Oregon Convention Center, shopping (Burnside, Belmont, Hawthorne), historic 2nd run movie theaters with pizza and microbrews (Laurelhurst Theater, Avalon, Cinemagic) many amazing restaurants (Le Pigeon, Biwa, Nong's Khao Man Gai, Screen Door, Luce), coffee shops ( Floyds, Three Friends, Heart), the Vegan Village (for all things Vegan), Voodoo Doughnuts Too, innumerable bars and brew pubs, the Doug Fir and Revolution Hall music venues, and more. It is also on multiple bus lines and walking distance to the Max train, and just blocks from the new streetcar.
For sporting activities Portland is like Mecca. There are two indoor climbing gyms within 10 blocks - the Portland Rock Gym (sport and bouldering) and The Circuit (huge bouldering gym). A mile away you can rent kayaks to paddle around on the Willamette from the Portland Kayak Company or rent bikes from several shops to take out for some great mountain biking or a cruise on a 40 mile loop around the multi-use path called the Springwater Corridor, or just getting around town. In the winter months you can be at the lifts in 90 minutes at Timberline or Mt. Hood Meadows for a day of downhill, or maybe take a snow shoe ($10 rental) or XC ski around Trillium lake. 90 minutes the other direction lands you at the coast where you can rent surfboards and try the even break at Oswald West, a great beginner beach. Last but not least the Columbia River Gorge has some of *the* best wind in the world for para-sailing, kiteboarding, wind surfing and all that.
The back door and French doors on the side of the house provide guests with a private, separate keypad lock entrance.

Jim and I are midwestern transplants from Columbus, Ohio, who love our adopted hometown of Portland, work in IT, and don't travel nearly as much as we wish we could. We have an wonderful kiddo who brings love and laughter into our lives every day. We are a pet-free home, although we do have the Portland-mandated chickens.
