Sauðárkrókur is about 290 km, a scenic 3 hr drive from Reykjavik. Situated in the northwest of Iceland, Sauðárkrókur is the largest town in the Skagafjörður region. A short detour from the main ring road will bring you to this quiet fishing village with a population of nearly 3,000. This little town offers sea, mountain and rural vistas, with many wonderful walking/hiking trails. The town of Sauðárkrókur is centrally located to many of the main attractions in the Skagafjörður area and nearby districts. The Skagafjörður region and outlying areas have much to offer the tourist most less than an hours drive away from Sauðárkrókur. Explore the Skagafjörður region by visiting the villages of Hofsós, Hólar and Varmahlið, travel beyond the district to the townships of Hvammstangi, Blönduós and Skagaströnd or tour the very northern regions of Iceland and discover Siglufjörður and Ólafsfjörður.
I have a strict no smoking policy inside the building. I am happy to provide linen change after every third day of your stay if you request it. Whilst I don't charge any extra for final cleaning I do expect dishes to be washed and put away and the apartment left in a tidy state.
I am an Australian woman/artist/printmaker who fell in love with the landscape of Iceland in 2009. I decided to have a major sea change before age and health became an obstacle and moved from Australia to the small fishing town of Sauðárkrókur in North West Iceland. I live in an apartment on the top floor of a large old post office building which I purchased at the end of 2010. Since then I have renovated the building creating a small art studio for myself, plus two spacious studio apartments for holiday rental.
