Extremely nice, accommodating place. The host was great, very considerate. The room was very clean and the bed comfortable. The neighborhood is very nice with wonderful walking paths nearby for getting out, and some good restaurants close by. This bnb is also a guest house affiliated with the spiritual center next door, and the whole place is infused with a charged, yet peaceful energy that most, I'm sure, will find quite soothing. A wonderful respite, either as a stop along your journey, or a destination in its own right.
Lovely people and a lovely place.
I really enjoyed the weekend in this beautiful location. The house is in a very quiet area, parallel to Ponce de Leon. All shops (Little 5 Corner), restaurants and bars are in walking distance. The host was very friendly. The room was spacious with great views to the park and trees. Free Wifi. Breakfast vegetarian, but with a great variety. The spiritual music in the morning at breakfast was relaxing and a great start into the day.
I can really recommend staying there and will definitely come back.
I had a great stay in the Self Discovery Center! The house was beautiful, the room was very clean, the bed was comfortable, and I slept quite well!! Deedee called the day before my stay - she was very kind and was able to provide advice on public transportation to the house from the airport, which was very easy (MARTA ride to Midtown, then a quick cab ride to the house). The location was great - directly across the street from a beautiful park and very quiet. I walked to the little five points area for lunch and coffee, and had a nice time exploring.
Most everything about my stay was exactly as I had expected. The only surprise was that there was a fair amount of activity around 7am - chimes, music, incense, chanting. While the music was pleasant, I was feeling a bit jet-lagged (having come from California) and it was a little early for me. I don't know if this type of activity is typical -- I forgot to ask! But, if so, it might be something to keep in mind for those looking to sleep in. :)
Thank you Deedee and the Self Discovery Center for sharing your beautiful and peaceful space!
The room was clean and exactly as advertised. The neighborhood is very, very quiet and I got a great night's sleep. Getting my keys was a no-hassle affair, and all-in-all I enjoyed my stay here.
We were looking for a clean, quiet place to stay while in Atlanta for the weekend, and we got exactly that and more. Comfortable bed, hot shower, great breakfast spread and beautiful surroundings in Druid Hills. Couldn't have asked for better. Thanks, Anandini!
This was an attractive, clean and spacious room in a nice house in a great neighborhood. The house is located in Druid Hills which is a great neighborhood and walking distance to Virginia Highlands. There is free wifi and the breakfast was very healthy, tasty and filling. I practiced yoga with the host in the morning which I needed as I was very stiff and tired from a difficult week of training. Would highly recommend this room, house and the self healing awareness center to any travelers.
The host canceled my reservation 4 days before arrival.
My short trip to Atlanta became all the more special as I had the opportunity to stay in the immaculate, quiet, peaceful and comfortable Red Queen room for two nights. The room itself was spacious, well ventilated, had good light, but dark enough with the curtains closed to sleep well into the morning. Its clean, attached bathroom inside the room was great for one person getting ready in the morning. Despite the hot Atlanta summer weather outside, the house is in an area with lots of trees, and cooler than other parts of town. The room itself had great A/C and was very comfortable temperature-wise.
The Red Queen room (as well as the other rooms there) were well very kept, and it was every bit a retreat and haven for me. No problem parking my SUV out back, and I had plenty of space in the fridge for whatever I wanted to put there (but no meat or eggs). Druid hills is a nice location, and though I didn't use public transportation, the location is central to everything.
Annandini is a wonderful hostess and was kind enough to have me come along to go to Sevananda, the local organic grocery store. Very personable and has a great disposition. I took advantage of the discounted yoga sessions which despite my preference for vinyasa yoga, helped me work up quite a sweat and stretch to my surprise- it was great! Thorough, calm teaching and inexpensive at $5.
I look forward to visiting again next time I'm in Atlanta and would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet, restful, lovely place to stay that is not a commercial hotel.
The Red Queen Bedroom was clean, comfortable and beautiful. I didn't have time to enjoy the complimentary yoga class but had two restful nights' sleep and enjoyed the breakfasts Anandini prepared and served, with attention to our individual tastes. She is a lovely and gracious hostess.
