We specialize in one to six month or longer term stays. This space is great as a starting point to explore the Bay Area or as a temporary home for nearby business. 20 minutes from San Francisco or the East-Bay. 30 minutes to the wine country. Travel nurses, interns, and contractors with longer term needs are our niche. I have had over 40 TN's that have worked in Marin, SF, the North Bay, and East Bay. Wonderful space that is very private in a great neighborhood next to open space. Sunny & quiet.

Completely furnished 350 square foot space in recently re-modeled large home. You have a separate private entrance with new sliding glass door. Patio and deck add another 200 sq. ft. for BBQ ETC. Well established upscale family neighborhood on a hill overlooks San Rafael. Walk to town or to hiking trails nearby. Many restaurants and other stores close. Is quiet, safe, and comfortable. Space has refrigerator, toilet, shower, and microwave . All are new. New carpets. Flat screen TV, WIFI (you also have a direct computer connection). Linens and towels changed upon request. Area is woodsy but with direct sun. $1895. monthly. All utilities included. We are a pet friendly household!

Space is very private and you probably won't see me or my family unless you want to!

On street parking on a dead end street. Walk to San Rafael Transportation Center or to down town and minutes from freeway to go any direction. This space is great as a starting point to explore the Bay Area or as a temporary home for nearby business. 20 minutes from San Francisco or the East-Bay. 30 minutes to the wine country. Has been used for vacation getaway, corporate weekly visit or monthly short term stay. Many visiting nurses, doctors, home closing, repairs, job relocations, house hunters, visiting relatives, and other have been previous guests. This space and location is extremely popular. 2016 was at 97% occupancy.

May require small deposit depending on stay.

I have lived in this house for over 30 years so have a wealth of knowledge of things to explore. We specialize in the one to six month or longer stay.

Email me with any additional questions.

I live directly above your space and am very conscious of any noise or things bothersome. I use my headphones for music/TV most of the time. Although you may occasionally hear me (and I will hear you) I will ALWAYS try my best to be sure you don't!

You can text/call me on my cell 24/7 for anything.

Low cost maid service is available.

This space is below our living area. We are quiet and respectful of our guests, but you will probably hear us moving about at some point during your stay (and likewise, we will hear you). The ceiling is slightly lower than standard height but has never been a problem.

Also, we live on a hill so there are several steps to & from the guest suite. These are irregularly spaced and sometimes moist from fog or rain. Just try to always be careful!

If you are not familiar with Ran Rafael, it is easiest to plan a first arrival in daylight but not absolutely necessary. The streets to my house are winding, hilly, and narrow and some visitors find them challenging to navigate at night. But if you use the maps provided it should be fine. It is private, quiet, and peaceful.

A little info for first-time visitors to the SF bay area:
- San Rafael is close to SF, but not actually part of the city. In fact, we are across the Golden Gate Bridge from SF, in Marin County (also called the "north bay"). It is less than 15 miles to downtown from our house, but can take longer than you might expect with the bridge and city traffic. Many guests stay with us to enjoy the green space and beauty of Marin (trails, paddling, Mt Tamalpais, Muir Woods, Angel Island, Stinson beach, SF Bay, Pacific ocean) but still with easy access to the city for some sightseeing there.
- There is excellent public transit between San Rafael and SF, and adequate transit around Marin County. The most convenient/frequent schedules run M-F, and directed at commuters. Weekend schedules require some planning. There is no late-night service to & from SF. The many different ferries are an excellent way to sightsee and a great transportation mode. MUST DO- LARKSPUR FERRY TO SF!
- There is little to no effective transit directly between Marin and other parts of the bay area (i.e. east bay, etc). You would have to go through the SF and this makes for a long trip. BART does not service the north bay at all.
- SFO is convenient to reach via transit or driving. So is Oakland convenient by car, but difficult to get to by public transit from here. There are door-to-door shuttles but they are fairly expensive.

** Please note that to keep some flexibility for ourselves & visiting family/friends, we do not accept reservation requests for the distant future. We usually open up the calendar for the few upcoming months only. If you're considering a stay beyond that period, check back within that time-frame for availability email me with your request.

Here is a recent National article ranking San Rafael as one of the top, "small cities".

San Rafael Cracks ‘Most Exciting Small Cities’ Rankings
Marin’s Mission City ranks 11th in a national real estate research survey conducted by

If you like live music and can’t stand endless parades of fast-food joints, you’d be hard pressed to find a better small city in the United States than San Rafael.

That’s according to an online research report published earlier this week by headlined “These Are the 10 Most Exciting Small Cities in America.”
San Rafael just barely missed the top 10, polling 11th overall. The article includes a list of the top 50 most exciting small cities out of a 140 with populations between 50,000 and 60,000.

Movoto judged the cities in six categories categories (live music, fast food, nightlife, active life, non-fast food percentage and young residents).

San Rafael is among six California cities to make the top 50 and ranks the highest overall in the state according to the poll.

Petaluma, which ranks 34th, is the only other Bay Area city to make the list. The other California cities mentioned are National City (32nd), La Mesa (33rd), Gardena (38th) and Arcadia (47th).

Hoboken, N.J. topped the rankings that appear to have a heavy East Coast-tilt. Only two of the top 10 cities are west of the Mississippi (No. 6 Manhattan, Kan., and No. 9 San Marcos, Texas).

San Rafael was ranked No. 3 in the live music and non-fast food percentage rank, and is the eighth most active city according to the poll.

Private entrance and exit to your vehicle. This is a great neighborhood. It is very important not to inconvenience the neighbors in any way! NEVER PARK OR BLOCK the alley entrance. It works best to park with two wheels up on the little used sidewalk. It creates more room to drive on this narrow street.

Interazione con gli ospiti

I am always available 24/7 to answer questions or give my 30 year+ Bay Area expertise on restaurants, sight seeing, day trips, SF, Wine Country, Tahoe, or the beach! Or as I said it is private enough you may not see me or my family unless you want to.

I enjoyed my stay at 27 Graceland Drive in San Rafael. The location is very convenient and eco-friendly. The studio itself is neat and cosy; more sunshine in the room could make it a perfect place to live in. Keith is very welcoming host doing his best to satisfy the needs of his visitors.

This was my first BnB experience. Keith was a nice host; and I really do appreciate him allowing me to stay at his home, & he did accommodate my early arrival. However, there were several things I disliked during my stay. My first day of arrival, the Bnb guest that was sharing the other part of his home basically was extra rude d/t the fact that I parked in her parking space (which I didn't know & I was only unloading my vehicle). Therefore, I had to park around the corner and down the street. Definitely no where to park in the community. Later, Keith did offer the parking pad when no one was using it. One of the bigger problems is the actual room which is off the side of his home- which is occupied by his ex-wife and son. The back end of the home is covered by a lot of trees. There were spider webs, spiders. & other bugs everywhere. Also, I end up going to the doctor. I begin itching uncontrollably & it felt like something was crawling over me. YES!!!! Bed bugs or scabies...not even sure. The doctor prescribed me some cream and told me to to wash everything. I was here on a travel assignment & I immediately started looking for somewhere else to stay. I didn't say anything d/t fear of being kicked out & I didn't have anywhere else to go. I slept on the floor for the remainder of my stay. Also, there was a strong stench of urine when the windows were open. Also, I had a strong suspicion that someone was entering my room when I was not there. I never did find anything missing but the thought of someone intruding on your privacy is scary. One day...Keith's ex-wife just appeared with who she claimed was a realtor & needed to see the size of the room. Before I could even say now was not a good time, they were in the room (the door is a sliding glass door & i would have it unlocked and open since there is no AC). I was not properly dressed, and felt like it was very inappropriate. I never received a prior about intrusion...smh. Oh, and future guest may want to get a wi-fi booster. Definitely not able to get a signal here on your phone. I did ask Keith could I place the wi-fi booster in the house; however, it worked fine in the room after I plugged it in. This is an okay spot maybe for a couple of days, but definitely not for anything longer. This is my personal experience that I'm sharing. Of course, each party will have their view. I am a very laid back & fair person. My posting is merely an insight to assist the next person with their choice. Afterwards, I realized I should have bought it to Keith's attention. I guess I was just ready to go!

Unfortunate experience! As Stacy relates she is a first time Airbnb user which may have prompted some of her experiences. I was in contact with Stacy a lot before her stay, and at least three times after, each time asking her if all was going well? Each time she said it was great. It is had to solve a problem if I do not know it exists. Besides the three texts, I even came to see her a week after her arrival, to again check in. She wasn't home, but her sliding door and screen were wide open and had been for 24 hours! I can see why she may have had spiders. My website has about 30 pictures and a detailed description of the studio. If you read it, it is almost impossible not understand what your getting. The detailed parking instruction in the ad, and by me in the walk thru, did not work for her. No one besides me ever had a key so it was impossible for someone else to enter. I have over twenty great reviews on this same spot! I truly hope she has learned from this stay and has much better luck in the future. Keith

Keith was great ! We corresponded ahead of time and he was willing to work with my schedule. I found the directions to the house and how to get into the apartment very easy and straight forward. Keith and I made plans to meet and he showed my through the apartment and showed me where everything was and how to use everything. It was great and easy and I was able to ask any questions that I had.

The listing description is not accurate! Before I booked the room, I emailed the host about the Wifi condition. I was told that the Wifi is extremely fast. However, I found that the wifi signal in the room is extremely weak. I cannot even get emails using the wifi. Although the wifi is useless, the cable is fast. But, my ipad and macbook air cannot connect to the internet because these products do not have cable connector. The nice coffee table in the listing also does not exist! It is a completely different coffee table which has rough surface. I cannot write on paper using the coffee table cause the surface is so rough. Why don't I do my work on the desk? It is because the nice desk in the listing also does not exist! More accurately, the desk is broken and the host is not going to fix it. I also found a small dead bug under the blanket. Fortunately, I bring my own bed sheet and blanket. My over all experience is okay, the room has good privacy and quite. But it is very different from the pictures on the listing. For example, the picture has two sofa and there is only one sofa in the room. Anyway, the host gave me 6% discount and I appreciate it. But the room is quite different than what I expected. I suggest the host to update the picture on the listing page.

I enjoyed my stay at this quaint studio. It was a great landing pad for me being new to the area. Keith was very hospitable and helpful. He was easy to get a hold of, answered questions very quickly and solved any issues as they arrived. The studio itself was comfortable, clean, and felt safe and secluded. Kitchenware is limited, so if you are considering a stay here, my only suggestion would be to bring your own cutting board and knife so that you can at least make salads. Overall, I enjoyed my time here and would recommend it to friends and family.
