The apartment is lovely and has been recently renovated. Is fully equipped and was perfectly clean. There are almost no doors so make sure you are staying with folks you have some intimacy with.
The location is amazing but we didn't get any sleep on Friday and Saturday due to street noise from live bands and people enjoying their weekends. It was a perfect place during the weekdays.
Madalena is always available and (website hidden)ão, the apt. owner always makes sure everything is in place.
Apartment was absolutely fantastic in an extraordinary neighbourhood. Even better, the street of Bairro Alto it is located on is fairly calm, meaning you're close to the action but there is very little noise at night.
Joao, the owner, is the most gracious person you ever meet. He has tons of documentation handy and arranged a big map of the neighbourhood in the living room with points of interest marked very clearly. We took a picture of it on the iPhone and used that to navigate. He was also most helpful with suggestions and even guided us to where we were going the first night.
A most charming host! You'll love it.
Wonderful apartment and wonderful hosts! Madalena had excellent communication with us prior to our arrival, and we met João at the apartment to collect the keys sans probleme. A perfect location, it was convenient to the metro/ a cab stand, museums, and to all of the hubub of restaurants, fado, and nightlife found in the Bairro Alto. That said, the apartment still managed to be quiet and serene, and we appreciated how clean and well-maintained it was. The neighbor even stopped by to assure us that if we needed anything, we could knock on his door for assistance! When I come back to Lisboa next, I will definitely stay in one of Madalena's properties. Obrigada!
