The second floor kitchen, dining and living areas are shared by all. The garage may be used as a place to put gear.

Guests are free to be on their own. We are available to assist with planning activities. Cross country gear, snow shoes, sledding gear, extra winter clothing are available on site to Megumi Chalet guests. 2 kayaks are also available. We can also provide guided winter and summer hikes ranging from easy to the most difficult.

I have had a home in Government Camp since 1969 and lived here permanently for the past 25 years. I love the mountain air, the pure water, the moderate climate, and the multitude of activities afforded the out of doors lover. The town has a feeling of wilderness yet its proximity to Portland allows access to the amenities of a big city. There are a number of shops close by, including the Govy General Store. There are a number of dining facilities all with a mountain theme and night life abounds especially on weekends.
Winter activities abound with 4 close by ski areas, inner tubing, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, snow mobile rentals, etc. Summer activities include Ski Bowl's famous Summer Action Park with over 40 activities, mountain biking, hiking, mountain lake canoeing/kayaking/swimming/Kahneeta Hot Springs and Deschutes River white water rafting excursions. The world famous Timberline Lodge, offering year round skiing, is within 6 miles. Guests are also welcome to simply sit and relax for the day here at the Chalet.

From the Portland Airport, transportation to Government Camp may be by rental car, a combination of public transport or via a private transportation service which accesses the area. Megumi Chalet also provides transportation on a limited basis. Once here, most everything is within walking distance. There is a bus to Timberline and connects the areas close by. The bus also goes into Sandy, OR where transfer to the Sandy Max Bus takes the visitor to the light rail line in Gresham. From there one can travel virtually any where in the greater Portland area including the PDX Airport.
